Survivor:
Whether I escape or not, as long as I out-earn everyone else in BP, that proves I was the MVP of the match and thus = a complete win. Also if I was the only survivor who doesn't DC over petty reasons... I really hate poor sportsmanship.
Killer:
... When I hear the Lamentations of their women!
(instant upvote for anyone who replies and gets this reference 😋)
TWiXT! What is best in life?
On topic, for me, it's just the BP grind and having fun in this very obviously casual game. So long as I get BBQ/WGLF stacks (if I'm running them) and have a good time in the trial, I'm cool.
It's hard to say what a win condition is when the game doesn't have a loss condition. No matter what, every player comes away with BPs to progress the game. I don't need my ego stroked with fictitious win conditions I invented.

Well when I began playing all I know is hag was already unlocked, then later on huntress was also free 🤷. That's all I'm saying, so I was surprised to see that hag wasn't free when released.
I was even surprised when I saw hunterss because I had no idea who that was I was downloaded her from the store.
But seriously my memory isn't the best for somethings.
100% my bad.
I looked into it more, and apparently, the Nurse and Huntress DLCs were free, though I swear I remember paying for them when they were released. So, there's some Mandela effect or something going on with my brain. Those were the only two free chapters.
Technically, though, Mikaela is free. The only thing you get from purchasing her via the DLC is an extra shirt. They'll never make a free DLC again, as they have iridescent shards to make all original content free in the in-game shop.

@Bran said:
Technically not a pay wall. Only a encouraged one.
I thought hag was free since launch, but I guess she wasnt. I also assumed Mikeala would have been free like some other killers and survivors, but I was wrong so whatever.
It's new mechanic-ish, but hey it's not that big I guess. I mean idk
What free killers and survivors? The only "free" killers and survivors were the ones that came with the base game: Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Dwight, Meg, Claudette, and Jake. Every other one dropped as DLC, originally.

Well in Portuguese it doesn’t mention the totem needs to be hex 🥱 I would never figure it
That's unfortunate...they should probably clarify that.

You're making sure to bless Hex totems, right? Dull totems don't count.

This may be a silly question, but did you try restarting the Steam client? That's what I did earlier this evening to get the update to show.

You're part of the problem that enables the NFT bs going around, downplaying how a Pyramid Scheme that is actively harming the environment for digital receipt is us overreacting. But of course you don't care. Wouldn't be surprised if you're into Crypto.....
Way to be entirely wrong, and you are overreacting.
An NFT, or non-fungible token, is a token on a blockchain that can have a file attached to it. This file gains a unique hash that makes it one-of-a-kind and provides a very thorough integrity check, due to the ledgers kept on every node of the blockchain keeping records of any and all possible changes made to that file. Right now they are mainly used for media, but in time we will see them used for documents that need to be protected (medical records, legal documents, government documents, etc).
So, NFTs are neither a pyramid scheme nor harmful to the environment, as they are, quite simply, really big, unique numbers stored in tokens that files are attached to.
Now, some blockchains can be very energy-dependent, due to the way that tokens are mined on them. That is something that blockchain developers take very seriously, and there are currently many different possible solutions to this issue being worked on. These solutions will be implemented, it's just a matter of it taking time due to logistic problems that revolve around decentralized networks. Regardless, solutions to energy consumption are being found. Maybe instead of complaining about it, supporting the development of new solutions would be more productive.
Pyramid schemes are created by people. So, if you see a company doing shady things with NFTs, call them out for being scam artists. But there are plenty of companies that you interact with daily that utilize NFTs and aren't pyramid schemes (e.g. Coca-Cola, Disney/Marvel, Warner Bros, Taco Bell/Pizza Hut/KFC, Nike, Funko). Blame the scam artists, not the technology.
You are attacking BHVR for not actively creating NFTs, but helping create assets that a license holder is using for NFTs, while day-to-day, you more than likely interact with or use products/media by other companies that directly generate NFTs. All the while not even understanding what an NFT is on a fundamental level, or how blockchain developers are actively seeking and finding solutions to the issues that upset you.
How is that not overreacting?

Not saying I believe it, but that is a concern I've seen circulating around Twitter, which is why I brought it up in my post. I would personally be surprised if DBD got sacked for it, because it does seem mostly on the liscense holder, and like you said, it's not the entire game based around it. (Nor can you get anything special from buying the NFT in game past what you can already get without supporting the NFT.)
Exactly. That's why I mentioned conspiracy theories. There are a lot of knee-jerk reactions right now, and because of that many people in the community are grabbing for torches and pitchforks without thinking.
-
@unluckycombo said:
Some people are taking the tweets as BHVR endorsing NFTs (Which, we don't know whether they really do or not, but my guess currently is that it's another part of their liscensing agreement per what they had release about it in another tweet), and even though BHVR isn't based on NFT/Crypto and doesn't push it down your throat, we don't know if crypto being somewhat supported like this from BHVR is going to get the game banned from Steam.
Plus, there's the entire thing of if it does get banned, while I don't think we'll lose our progress or anything, it doesn't look good to move your game to another platform over a ban like that. That's why people are concerned.
Who said anything about them moving to Epic? There are some conspiracy theories going on here. There is nothing wrong with BHVR looking to add Dead by Daylight to the Epic Games Store (which is the only thing we can guess based on the tweets between them), and it doesn't mean they are moving from Steam.
A third-party company creating NFTs using assets created by BHVR is not going to get DbD removed from Steam. Steam is banning games built on blockchains and/or containing NFTs or cryptocurrencies as rewards, etc. An NFT that may contain a DLC code has nothing to do with that. That's akin to saying any game ever given out by Humble Bundle needs to be removed from Steam because from time to time HB has book bundles about blockchains and cryptocurrencies.

I dont think theres any problem with controller players because they are all doing the same things we are. The one advantage we have over them is the 360 spins, but you can manage almost the same thing on controller.
Theres no precision in the game besides the button prompts. You can still line up your character for flash saves. Everything else I can think of is a button prompt. So your skills come down to your movement, which I believe controllers can manage very well
I wouldnt be surprised if most M1 killers can be played on PC with a controller and still do decent work.
I play on PC, but because of some temporary neurological issues, it is hard for me to play M&K, so I currently use a controller.
You're 100% correct. Even 360s are simple with analog sticks. There's really nothing that a survivor can do on M&K that can't be done on a controller (moonwalking is a little tricky, but possible).
Regarding killers, some can be harder to play, due to flicks (e.g. Blight), but most killers are very much playable. I've actually really been enjoying Demogorgon on a controller. Something just feels right about pulling a trigger to launch him across the map.
A lot of people on these forums make mountains out of molehills. Playing this game with a controller makes very little difference. Though, BHVR would do well to add some better controller customization, as using the same button for multiple actions can screw a survivor over sometimes (e.g. Pinhead chains at pallets).

Sorry, you just mentioned that people can't hurt you over the internet if they're upset (or something of the like) in an earlier comment in that conversation: I've gotten two mail bombs after being threatened after a match, so I was objecting to that view rather harshly.
And in the current context? The bits about "it's a slippery slope to a totalitarian state," are unrelated to the general conversation. Fair points? Sure, it's a valid argument. But correct me if I'm wrong: nobody was asking for a police state to be instituted. If I am wrong, I apologize--it's been a long forty-three hours, and it's entirely possible that I missed something.
I said no such thing. Go back and re-read everything I said. Not once did I make any mention that "people can't hurt you over the internet".
It doesn't matter whether it's a video game community or politics. Removal of people's right to expression is wrong and is a slippery slope.

Actually, you can call someone a "#########-mired ghetto rat deserving nothing but death and pain," and tell them that they "should just die like the rest of your mongrel race already."
Not that I know this from experience or anything. Just a hypothetical, of course.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2559563#Comment_2559563
Again, if people feel so strongly they're right that they try to get you literally killed after, things are probably worse than they should be--don't degrade into inane philosophical debate; nobody's asking for a police state to monitor what everyone says, does, and thinks in order to screen "those bad, bad thoughts." It's pretty clear that people are asking for everyone to be at least vaguely neighborly. I don't think that's a crazy thing to desire--if it is, then lock me up already, Doc.
Anyway, have a nice day--I ought to be back to work.
Who is trying to get anyone killed? I don't remember that being part of the conversation.
It's not "inane philosophical debate". The idea that anyone has to censor themselves to protect other people's feelings is a bad direction to take things. There are controls in place to mute anything directed towards a person both in post-game chat and on every platform. People should be taught to utilize them, and to remember that words cannot hurt you.
"No one should have the right to insult someone" does not equal "people should be more neighborly".
"People should be neighborly" is part of what I said throughout my comments. But, that's expecting everyone to reach a consensus, and that's never practical. Some people just want to be mean, and that's why it's smarter to help people learn to deal with that meanness than to simply stifle all speech to protect them.
One solution is pragmatic and reasonable. One requires authoritarian levels of control.

I get what you mean but im still sticking to the fact that no one should have the right to insult anyone. I personally don't see the point of insulting anyone. It wont give me a better feeling and it surely wont give that person a better feeling. Also i dont think anyone should get used to toxicity.
But i do agree people should be tougher but everyone has their limits. LIke i said i can take a hit or few but when it happens multiple times it starts getting tiredsome and hurtful.
People should have their basic manners which to me at least includes treat others with respect and if i cant do it i move along. I dont need to start foaming from my mouth to that person :)
But who defines what is an insult? Anybody could become insulted by anything. So, who becomes the judge and jury there?
That thought process is a very slippery slope into totalitarianism. I could say something that I find to be perfectly innocent, but if you take offense to it, then did I do something "illegal" (for lack of a better word)? Who decides it? Who looks into the context? Who checks to see where the person who made the statement was coming from? Maybe they were offended by actions that were taken on them in game and are defending themselves.
Again, "no one should have the right" is dangerous territory to go down. It's better to help pick people up when needed than to smother society completely.

Everyone gets mad at this game im sure of it but wouldnt it just be better to move along? Does it really give people better feeling when you can call other by names and yell at them? When i get frustrated i just press leave game button and move onto the next match. Or i take 5 minutes and go get something to drink. It wont make my day better to start lashing out.
This I 100% agree with. We all should, as a community, push the notion of just saying GG and moving on. I make it a point to practice just that. I also call out people in chat who start acting ridiculous. I'll quickly defend a killer or survivor who is getting insulted in post-game, and I would love to see that become more commonplace.
We should be protecting each other, this is true. Additionally, we should be strengthening each other and helping others to get past things, as I pointed out in my earlier comments.

So in your mind everyone should just be tough and shrug it off when someone calls them names for no reason and is nasty? No its not ok.
I can take an insult and i can deal with bullies but when it happens multiple times a day it will take a toll . Not everyone is emotion free person.
Some people might have scars from school bullying some people tend to be softer at heart like i am. We are not all tough as rocks and nor should we be.
I just think its ridiculous that you give people who act like this a pass and say oh deal with it. Noone has the right to call anyone names or be racist towards someone else!
That's not at all what I said. I said that though we should be more empathetic towards each other as a society, it should not be done through some ridiculous notion of authoritarian censorship. People need to learn to handle insults, rejections, failures. These things happen to us throughout our lives. Properly processing it is the correct path. Shielding society from one person's notion of what could be considered offensive is dangerous.
People do not give offense. Offense is only taken. So, you cannot define what is offensive or not offensive, as that is highly subjective.
Instead, we should be helping people to work past their offenses, in order to better process them, safeguard themselves from them, and up their quality of life for their future.
So yes, "sticks and stones" is a far healthier mantra than "No one should have the right to insult anyone!" As it leads to a stronger, more well-adjusted individual who can take negatives and turn them into positives.
-
Players still tap gens to avoid skill checks? Why?? :))))
The last time I remember seeing someone do that was new players with old Ruin.
Also, body blocking isn't a toxic behavior. It's a scored event for survivors. It's called a protection hit, and there are even two achievements for taking them. They are:
Taking One For The Team
Protect a recently unhooked Survivor by taking a hit near them 250 times.
and
Bodyguard
In public matches, take a protection hit while the Killer is carrying a Survivor, 30 times.
Not to mention Tome challenges, WGLF stacks, and a higher Altruism score at the end of the trial. Bodyblocking is one of the few ways that survivors have to increase their score at the end of the game, along with flashlight blinds, pallet stuns, and other game mechanics that some killers cry about on here.
-
@Hannacia said:
These comments saying oh just ignore people being literally bullies annoyes me. Doesnt matter how old you are common sense should be something everyone owns and with that comes how you should act towards other people.
If this toxicity would happen in real life would you just tell that person..oh grow a thicker skin? No you would not! So why does it make it ok for it to happen online? A lot of bullying now happens online and bad things have happened cause of it.
Some people play games for fun and to relax, some use it as an escape from a really bad real life situation, some i feel like are playing just to hurt others.
I don't know how bad it is for console players but as a PC player it can get rough. Since i stream, and yes 99% of the nastyness ive gotten from survivors when i play as killer, first they insult me in the after in game chat, which now i keep sometimes closed. Then they come into my stream. Insult me even more and with worse words, and lastly after getting banned in my streams they go into my steam profile write some horrible stuff and keep spamming until i ban again. If you report them..nothing will be done.
No one should have the right to insult anyone! Not over a game not over anything. You never know what that other person is dealing with and you making ######### comments def wont help that person. If you dont have anything good to say keep your mouth shut and move along.
Sometimes its better to not say anything. Learn some manners!
I'm sorry, but this is the most ridiculous comment I have read in this thread.
- Words in a post-game chat do not equal "literal bullying". This is another case of a word being watered down to having zero meaning.
- Yes, we have phrases for occasions such as this in real life. "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me" ring a bell? We should be teaching people to have thicker skin, as it's a very important lesson to know in society. People need to learn to handle an insult, or rejection, or failure, as this ability to process it properly will improve their overall success and happiness in life. I have stopped escalations in bars, back when I was a bouncer, by appealing to that rational side of a person before they got physical with someone yelling at them. It is incredibly important to remind people that they can be the better person and just walk away.
- Your story here about "nastiness" traveling from post-game to your Twitch chat is your fault, and only your fault. You should have stopgaps in place to ensure that it does not reach your community. That is 100% your responsibility to yourself and your community, and nobody else's. Remove the "TTV" in your Steam name and/or the Twitch link from your Steam profile, and it's all fixed. If you don't want comments on your Steam profile, set it for friends only. There are ways to protect yourself from abuse online.
- You have the right to be offended by things you see or hear, but you do NOT have the right to NOT be offended. People have the right to express themselves, in whatever matter they deem fit. If you don't want to see or hear it, then utilize the controls discussed above to protect yourself. Your statement of "No one should have the right to insult anyone!" is childish and ridiculously authoritarian, and quite frankly, frightening.
Should we try to teach people to be a bit nicer? Of course, we should. But, we absolutely should also teach people to be self-sufficient and to be able to properly protect themselves both online and in real life. Part of that is teaching people that it is on them to decide whether they will let something offend them or not. That is part of maturing and of becoming a functional member of society.

I respect that you have a very different definition of "competitive" to me, but as I said, I'm not interested in arguing this point as it is neither the one I was originally making or one that's particularly relevant to OP's point.
One, you made a public statement on a forum. I responded. I don't really care if you want to interact or not. You can just not respond instead of replying to tell me you don't want to respond.
Two, everything I said 100% backs the OPs original statement. It is completely relevant.
Three, I am using the correct definition of competition. It's not an opinion, but an objective fact. Find me evidence of any competitive event where the skills of the competitors are not compared on a 1:1 ratio. If you can find one, I will accept that the current definition of competition must be changed and will start a campaign to do just that with dictionary publishers.

Half of that isn't really directed at me so I'll ignore that part, not trying to be nasty just that it's aimed more at the people who want DBD to be an esport tournament type game and that ain't me, I just don't think it's an impossible feat if you do want it.
You are absolutely competing against the survivors, because they're trying to evade you. The overall goal is a competing one- they want to escape and you want to stop them- and the minute-to-minute goal is a competing one, because you want to win the looping session and so do they. DBD is a competitive party game as opposed to a party game where all players are trying to reach a goal together. It's not that deep, man, competitive doesn't mean taking it seriously to achieve the win.
That's the last I'm going to say on this point, it wasn't particularly something I wanted to argue for and that's why it was a brief aside just to make sure everyone was on the same page for my initial post.
It is directed at your statement that the game is competitive. I explained how it isn't.
"The overall goal is a competing one- they want to escape and you want to stop them- and the minute-to-minute goal is a competing one, because you want to win the looping session and so do they."
This statement doesn't work. There is no competition there. The trial isn't a looping session. The trial is a goalie (killer) protecting a goal (gates) from an offensive team (survivors). This series of scored events never switches. The defense never switches to offense, which is why I mentioned tournaments, because they make that switch between the two rounds, making the series competitive.
In order for something to be competitive, it needs to be understood, compared, and judged between all parties, using a standard. So, again, you can compare the actions of the four survivors in the trial, as they perform the same actions. But, you cannot compare the killer's ability to down someone vs the survivor's ability to down someone, because survivors cannot down anybody. Likewise, the killer will fail, every time, at scoring flashlight blinds (for example), as that is not something the killer can do.
What you are calling competitive is the equivalent of one person swimming in a race against someone on a bicycle. You wouldn't dare to compare those two things, so how would one compare the actions of the killer vs the actions of a survivor? It's impossible.
This game is not competitive. The tournament scene can make it competitive though, and I am fully supportive of that scene. It's the same as Smash. Nintendo doesn't design Smash to be some huge tournament game, and all-in-all it's really casual. But the community took it to a new level of competition with community rules and the creation of a tournament scene.
-
@jesterkind said:
I assume by "competitive" you mean like, "tournament ready", since the game is already competitive.
I don't think it's that far fetched, honestly. Even this game isn't that far off, outside of some specific problem areas and certain map RNG components. Give the teams the same tile spawn variant of like, Coal Tower, and that's a tournament ready game right there. Granted, it's a tournament that's only going to see a handful of characters and builds, but that's the case in some other tournament games too to a certain degree.
How, exactly, is this game competitive?
Who does the killer compete against? Who do the survivors compete against?
The killer competes against themselves. They do not compete against the survivors, as they do not even play the same game as the survivors. The survivors technically compete against each other, in a meaningless way, because they all perform the same actions that generate the same points, and as such their scores at the end of the trial can be compared. And that's how all competition works, "Who is the best at doing a series of particular things?" The killer's score cannot be compared to the survivors, as the actions that generated that score cannot be performed by the survivors and vice versa.
This is why this game has no actual win condition, as it is not actually competitive on any level between killers and survivors. Survivors are objects that the killer uses to boost their score, and the same can be said for the killer in the survivors' gameplay loop.
With tournaments, it's a bit different, as both teams play rounds in both roles, so it becomes killer vs. killer and survivors vs. survivors, making the total series of matches competitive. But a single trial is non-competitive between killers and survivors.
This game has always been, and will always be, a casual party game that a loud, vocal (and honestly pretty obnoxious) minority try to shoehorn "high-level play" into and force everyone else to play at that level, making the experience for the majority, who just want to grind BPs and have fun, a less fun experience.
The current MMR system is based on a lot of these facts. The devs know they can't balance around two completely different games being played simultaneously. But, they can set it up in a way where, over time, most people should average out to around a 50% kill/escape rate. They have never stated that it is there to make the game more competitive but to make matches feel fairer. At the same time, they have removed any visual representation of rank or skill (this should be a pretty big clue to what they are trying to tell the community).
There's a lot of people who need to stop seeing the game for what they want it to be, and start seeing the game for what it is. If you want competition, there are groups and private scrims for that. But leave it there, and just play pub matches for the fun of it (which is how the game is designed). Play the match, get your participation trophy (in the sense of BPs), say GG, and move on with your grind. No matter what, you win every match, as there is no win condition, and you are really only competing against yourself.
-
There's a private mode that can be used to play custom matches with whatever house rules you want to use. Join a comp DIscord or group, find some like-minded players, and start playing scrims. The devs have already given you the tools to make it happen.
-
As someone who is also learning Demo more, as of late, it seems like the add-on was quite specifically designed to monitor points of interest...and generators are pretty dang interesting :)
And honestly, even coming from a Survivor perspective, I would assume that to be the main use case.
Don't let Survivor salt (or Killer salt) get to you. It's just the way entitled people react to failure. It can't be their fault. Must be that tunneling killer or that Toxic SWF made up of solo queue players...
Excuses, excuses. One day they'll realize that "their MMR" just ain't as high as they think.

Is that’s what causes that?? Same thing used to happen to me for the past year. It stopped though, after the Pinhead DLC. I think I’ve only received the same map back to back a couple of times since then. Just happy it stopped.
Yeah, it does seem to have gotten better recently. Maybe they did add a check around the Pinhead release. But, yes, truly random generation will make things seem less random.
-
I just play the match. You win no matter what because there is no win condition. I say my ggs, take my BPs, and go spend them.
This game is a casual game. Getting upset about a "win" or "loss" that you created in your own head seems counter-productive. I just want to play and have fun. If I do those two things, and get some progression at the same time, I'm cool.

You are flat-out wrong if you support your claim with matchmaking alone.
There used to be actual infinite loops in the game. Brand New Parts would fully repair a generator with 0% progress in the slap of a space bar. There used to be no Exhaustion status effect. Matchmaking times were incredibly long for everyone (I know some players have this problem now, I'll admit, but it used to be worse for the whole player base). There used to be no DC penalty. After waiting for 15 minutes for a match, 3 people would DC commonly. We've had so many killer and killer add-on reworks. For christ's sake, so many people lost their mind when Trapper could reset a trap on the ground! Huntress only can have 1 Irredescent hatchet now. Maps have been made brighter and better-looking. Insta-Cahinsaws are gone. Hatch standoffs are no more. Keys and hatches are changed or are changing. Trapper is going to have 2 traps! Spirit is changing. Perks have changed. DS is now a defensive perk. BT now works always. The game itself would just be bad to play on during the Binding of Kin and Resident Evil release days.
There is just so much more, too! I feel like I'm Jerry Seinfeld ranting and listing all these things. I criticize DBD all the time, but this being the worst state is just factually untrue.
Don't forget:
Survivors being able to 99% every gen on the map because the Killer had no ability to kick gens.
Survivors being able to permanently break every hook on the map outside of the basement, along with permanently breaking all of the Trapper's traps.
Practically every match ending in a 4-man slug bleedout because that was the only way a Killer could win a match.
Anyone who thinks this game is currently in a terrible state needs to search YouTube for "DbD 2016" and watch some old videos to see how bad it was.

@KerJuice said:
I think map offerings should be eliminated for both sides, altogether. Just keep the algorithm fair and truly random.
Agreed, though I think they need to actually reduce the true randomness of the map selection.
The problem is that a truly random choice will inevitably create lots of duplicate results. In my experience, most nights of playing it almost feels like there's a theme (e.g. keep getting farm maps, Lery's / The Game on repeat, etc). They should add a control that flags the last map played by each person in the current lobby and eliminate those maps from the current pool, or even the past two matches worth of maps. That would actually increase the freshness of the maps in the current lobby's rotation (and would make the map choice feel even more random to the players in the lobby) because they would see fewer times where they play the same map in a row.
Then, just remove all map offerings and leave it to chance. If people want to play specific maps, there are private matches and discord servers to join for that.

Oh I agree. I was just giving examples based on THEIR logic. I play this game in any way I see as fun. I use whatever I see as fun. And I never complain about what either side is using.
For example. When I actually play clown. I use pinky finger. Well I was playing survivor with friends last night and we got a pinky finger clown. I was the first down and I said "oooh pinky finger clown" My friends told me "if anyone deserves that. It's you. You use it all the time"My response was "Oh I know. I'm not complaining"
No, you weren't. One, I'm not "they". I don't play one side, and I'm not arguing about any toxicity on either side. So, check yourself with the whole "THEIR SIDE / OUR SIDE" shenanigans.
You tried to make a bad faith argument that because you get points for downing a survivor, then slugging is a scored event. This is untrue. Downing a survivor is a scored event. It pops up on screen and adds points to your total. You do not get a pop-up every few seconds that they are on the ground, because of slugging. Nor do you get a pop-up every few seconds that you stand in front of a hook. Camping, slugging, and tunneling are not scored events.
Meanwhile, if I am running WGLF as a survivor and unhook someone and the killer swings at us and hits me, I will see a "Protection +500" pop up on screen and get a stack on WGLF. If I bodyblock while a killer is carrying a survivor and the killer hits me, I will see a pop-up that says "Protection +500". These are scored events, just like pallet stuns, flashlight blinds, and a lot of other things that killer mains think are "toxic" but are actually the only ways that survivors can really bring their BPs up during a match and ensure a pip.
This whole "they/us" thing really needs to be buried already. Both sides need to start really paying attention to the game the other side is playing.

Guess I'll be that guy. By YOUR own logic. "Protection hits arnt toxic as they're a scores event and part of the game"
Let's take a look real quick
Tunneling ? - You get points for downing a survivor. Regardless on if they were just hooked. My "lethal rush down" My "precise/lethal blink' are scored all the same
Camping ? - I get points for putting you on the hook/sacrificing you. It's a scored event. I'm allowed to be anywhere on the map I want to be. If that happens to be in your face. So be it.
Slugging ? - Again...I get points for downing you. How long you stayed down is irrelevant. It's still a scored event
No, that's not my logic. It's an objective fact based on a scored event that pops up on screen.
I'm not making an argument that anything is toxic. I am making the argument that you cannot call a scored event toxic.
Just like if you could show me a pop-up that says "Camper +500" I would defend camping as a scored event.
Again, not arguing about tactics. I'm simply stating that comparing tactics to a scored event is a false equivalence.

Tunneling, camping, slugging is not toxic. Deal with it and stop complaining like the one who made this post.
The level of false equivalence here is astounding.
I'm not even going to make an argument on whether anything you mentioned is toxic, as none of that matters.
Protection hits aren't toxic because they are a scored event labeled a "Protection Hit". It is a score that pops up on screen, adds to the survivor's altruism score, and adds stacks to WGLF. There are even tome challenges based around taking protection hits from killers.
Trying to compare a scored event to tactics that can be considered questionable based on when they happen in the match is incredibly disingenuous.

So...you are mad about killers that aren't skilled enough? I thought most people complaining about solo queue were people constantly dying. You would think the DC and hook suicide games would be up your alley to challenge you a bit. Lol.
If you want a balanced pvp experience, you are playing the wrong game. Try... Anything that isn't asymmetrical.
In solo queue, the killer is the least of your concerns. I almost exclusively play solo, and I die far more often to inept teammates than simply because the killer was "OP".
Solo queue is the true 4v1 experience.

One thing I'm not clear on - if a survivor creates a boon totem and the killer snuffs it out, can the survivor bless that totem or a different totem again? I know all boon perks go to that one totem they bless, and they're not allowed to have multiple boon totems active, but are the boon perks resettable after the killer takes out their first placement?
That's probably my biggest worry on balancing - if they are in fact resettable then imo it needs to be a smaller effect than a hex since killers can't put them back if they get cleansed...
The notes specifically state that the boon totem creates "a small safe haven". Pair that with survivors being able to move the blessing from one boon totem to another, and it pretty much adds up to it being a small AoE around the totem that gives the benefit. It sounds like it is not some map-wide combo effect of all the survivor's equipped boon perks, but more like a bubble that needs to be strategically placed throughout the match, and each time it's moved it takes around the same amount of time as cleansing a totem.
Using these perks is going to create a slowdown throughout the match. 14 seconds adds up pretty quick if the survivor is moving the boon effects around the map to get the best benefit from them, and having to re-bless them when a killer removes the boon.
It seems like a lot of people are getting worked up over something they constructed in their minds instead of really reading the patch notes and the mods' responses to questions in the threads on this forum. We'll see how it plays out on the PTB.

my concern would be after somebody belsses a hex totem effectly removing it, if i as the killer clear that boon it returns to a dull totem and ive effectivly lost my hex as if it was broken with no reward other than getting rid of the boon that was originally my hex
It takes the same amount of time to bless a totem as it does to cleanse it (possibly slightly longer). You would have lost that hex regardless of how it was removed. That's why it reverts to a dull totem, instead of switching back to the hex.

BBQ lasts up to 8 seconds if it's tier 3, tier 2 is 6 secs I believe and tier one is 4 secs.
Who told you that?
The only thing that changes each tier is the number of tokens the killer can get, like WGLF.

Oh, that I didn't know! Which set does it belong to?
It's a re-color of the Pro-Pain Hammer from the Scorching Summer BBQ event.
