Sounds like a cool feature, but how does someone have an excess of Auric Cells? Don't you have to buy them?
@ImAJoke264 said:
What I think you mean by gifting is gifting arura cells and cosmetics, the amount of accounts that would get hacked and then have no cells would be a lot.
If @ImAJoke264 point is accurate, that is a worthy concern to have (with all of the hacking going on in DBD).
-
I haven't played a lot of DBD since they added Glyphs, but from the little experience I have with them, I think they would be pretty neat to have more often. They wouldn't be so alien if they were a part of dailies instead of the tome challenges.
-
It needs a perk balance system. Very old perks are still core meta (and rightfully so).
At this point, I think core mechanics in DBD greatly incentivize the meta perks rather than other perks just being too weak. Bond and Empathy are pretty decent, but more experienced players could give up having that information to instead have Dead Hard. Brutal Strength speeds up damaging/destroying, but Gen Regression is so much better...etc.
-
I think SBMM reveals balance issues in DBD.

Sprint Burst is not at the level of Dead Hard. Dead hard is an on-demand dodge or an on-demand boost of distance. The other perks that give mobility to survivors have much more drawbacks. Sprint Burst is not as controllable as Dead Hard. Yes, you can manage your exhaustion to hold it, but it is not held in the same way Dead Hard is. Balanced Landing can only be triggered in very specific locations on maps. Lithe requires a fast vault. Adrenaline and Hope require 5 generators to be completed. Dark Theory requires a blessed totem. Fixated/Self-Aware is limited to only walking. Urban Evasion is limited to only crouched movement. Dead Hard requires the survivor to be injured, but most of the time a survivor doesn't need to use Dead Hard unless they are injured. There are killers and perks that have insta-down abilities, but the basic single health state attack is common in all killers. Sprint Burst is good, but Dead Hard allows survivors to use pallets and vault locations too efficiently in most maps. Just as a note, I am excited for the whole meta to change with ALL perks. There are about 100 perks for each role and there are heaps of perks with very little value. When was the last time you saw Lightweight or Coulrophobia? There are some perks like Visionary and Deja Vu for new survivors who don't know generator locations yet (I used Deja Vu all the time when I was new). Lightborn is great for newer killers that don't know how to avoid getting blinded. I'm not saying nerfing meta perks and boosting non-meta perks is the only answer. We know some perks are just temporary solutions that are planned for the long term, but changes core gameplay mechanics can incentivize players to not feel that they have to use the meta perks.
Sorry for the rant. I was no uber-good DBD player, so Dead Hard wasn't as much as a pain to me as it is to other killers. I also never ran it as survivor since my ping is trash and I was just bad at pressing E, I guess.
I guess my whole point was to add my take of debunking Sprint Burst and Dead Hard being at the same level. Both are very good perks, but Dead Hard definitely works better with high-skilled loopers.

Last time I heard discussion about this kind of problem was like...July 2021? A lot of players thought that a base instant regression from kicking a generator was needed due to the problem that you mentioned of survivors being able to tap a generator. But yes, a lot of players already like a change in the kicking mechanic. This is my first time on the forums in like 3 months. I uninstalled a month ago after not playing for 2 months. You guys got some more bloodpoints now, I guess.

Thank you for bringing this up. I just came here during my loading screen to make sure I wasn't the only one.

I'm not talking about in game stuff like perks or add ons or whatever I'm talking about gameplay that's dbd in right now matchmaking completely twisted our games and made it worse than it ever was at least for me in my experience....I can deal with bugs and broken things but I can't deal when matches are so obnoxious that u just can't wait to turn the game off
Claiming that this is the "worst state of game ever" and NOT including perks and add-ons is simply disingenuous to the whole conversation. The state of the game relies on ALL parts of the game; from system optimization to in-game purchases to, yes, matchmaking. You can't expect others to agree when you say the whole state of the game is ruined because of different matchmaking when there were players on console who COULD NOT PLAY. You have to choose your words carefully and specifically and not parrot "worst game state ever" "worst game state of all time" when you just don't like the survivors you're playing with.
You're comparing mountains to molehills when you say that previous game states were better than today. The bar has been lowered so low that I was amazed that pallets still stunned killers when Pinhead got released.
-
Try getting a pallet stun on him. He can't melee after canceling his power anymore. If you're in the open, watch and try to juke his ranged attack.
Try using more stealthy tactics. He's not a Doctor that can make you scream. Try leaving a generator sooner or run Spine Chill or other stealth perks.
-
You are flat-out wrong if you support your claim with matchmaking alone.
There used to be actual infinite loops in the game. Brand New Parts would fully repair a generator with 0% progress in the slap of a space bar. There used to be no Exhaustion status effect. Matchmaking times were incredibly long for everyone (I know some players have this problem now, I'll admit, but it used to be worse for the whole player base). There used to be no DC penalty. After waiting for 15 minutes for a match, 3 people would DC commonly. We've had so many killer and killer add-on reworks. For christ's sake, so many people lost their mind when Trapper could reset a trap on the ground! Huntress only can have 1 Irredescent hatchet now. Maps have been made brighter and better-looking. Insta-Cahinsaws are gone. Hatch standoffs are no more. Keys and hatches are changed or are changing. Trapper is going to have 2 traps! Spirit is changing. Perks have changed. DS is now a defensive perk. BT now works always. The game itself would just be bad to play on during the Binding of Kin and Resident Evil release days.
There is just so much more, too! I feel like I'm Jerry Seinfeld ranting and listing all these things. I criticize DBD all the time, but this being the worst state is just factually untrue.

Damn. Not good.
But for me re chapter was the worse since I am a last gen player. It was unplayable. At least now it is a little bit better and they will improve it more hopefully.
Yeah. Too many times game-breaking bugs come out of the woodworks when a new chapter is released. Binding of Kin really lowered the DBD bar of standards when the game became unpleasant to play due to bugs. A lot of them had nothing to do with the new characters. It really ruins the mood when you update your game to a worse condition. Many people would complain about the Twins while I just wanted my game to work.
-
During the Endgame Collapse, I like to play a little "mini-game". If I close the hatch as killer, I want to hook the last survivor. However, if they are able to loop me long enough or hide long enough so that the Entity finishes them, I tell them in the post-chat that they beat me. I also play the "mini-game" as survivor where I try to get killed by the Entity instead of being hooked.

I'm looking at DBD like it's 5 players playing a game and that unlike Survivors with Generators being a permanent and rather significantly notable "checkpoint", a Killer Hooking a Survivor isn't really that memorable (unless that Hook is responsible for a player being removed from active gameplay).
Apologies if it came across as me being highly jaded about how you call the match where you all escaped and you played a huge roll in thwarting the Killer at the end being one of the most fun matches you've ever had, and that you want to reach out to those same people.
Next you'll tell me that you'd love to play a match with all those same people with the same kind of end-result.
I'm sorry, too. I got really heated over this.
I'm definitely not looking for a match specifically the same end results. If the 5 of us did get another game together, we could go to a different map, so that the Spirit wouldn't have to cross the galaxy that Mother's Dwelling is. There's a better chance of her wiping the floor with us than not. I just loved how we had to fight tooth and claw, and we barely still made it out. I was scared of missing the flashlight timing. I didn't want to let my teammate down. I also liked how my teammates knew that there was a 3-gen threat. A lot of times someone would go repair the far generator. Then, it would be much harder to repair the final generator. I was proud of my team, and I was even in awe of the killer. I have to admit that I was a little proud of myself. I don't wield a flashlight as well as other players do in DBD. Spirits are a lot trickier to out-maneuver than other killers.
I'm glad we talked this out. I have to agree with you about the checkpoints. I definitely get more satisfaction finishing a generator as a survivor than I do hooking someone as the killer. I like your profile picture, by the way. I love Detectives Hunch! It was my second choice after Better Together. I picked Better Together because I like the message of coming together on the forums to talk about things in DBD. You're a pretty cool person. I don't want to be a stereotypical angry forum keyboard warrior, so I would like to apologize again for getting so worked up over this. I think we had a good discussion overall. I hope anyone reading this has a nice day, and I really do hope that there would be a chance to reconnect this DBD missed connection.

No, each Survivor won an independent "game", the Killer lost 4 "games" simultaneously.
It's each Survivor against the Killer. Survivors are not technically on the same team, their interests just align.
If you think that the game is supposed to be either a 4K or 4E each match, that's even worse.
4K/4E is just a Dominating victory/loss. It's like going 3-0 or 0-3 in R6S
You are looking at DBD like some robot using MMR as your eyes. If the game is 4 independent games, how does altruism get factored in? Saying that survivors are not on the same team and their interests just align makes no sense. That's like saying a football team doesn't work together, they just pass the ball to each other to move the ball to the same side of the field. Survivors use TEAMWORK in order to succeed in the best way possible. Survivors can take hits so their injured teammate doesn't get downed.
Nobody here said that the game is supposed to be 4E / 4K.
Like I said before, unless you were in the game, you didn't know how it went. At the end, the Spirit was about to get 2 kills. They would have gotten the 2 kills if I didn't find a green flashlight in a chest AND if we didn't use teamwork AND if I missed the flashlight timing.
I just posted this to look for some players. You say that I have self-centered empathy? I assume people don't play DBD cuz they hate themselves. It WAS a fun game. I am looking for these players, so I could talk to them. There would be no chance of me performing as well as the Spirit did in this game. Maybe I could learn from the other players.
I don't know who urinated in your Cheerios this morning, but I see no benefit in you posting on this thread that has nothing to do with you. Especially just to accuse someone who is complimenting every player in the game of enjoying "stomping on someone worse than [them]"?
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Seems that the Spirit performed below average according to MMR criteria. Which means you simply had fun stomping on someone worse than you.
What is wrong with you? I want to see if I can find these players that I had a fun time playing with and friend them. Unless you were in the match, you have no clue how the game went. Mother's Dwelling is a massive map, of course they're likely to "perform below average according to MMR criteria". The Spirit did a great job in my opinion. I don't care about MMR or the outcome. The game was INTENSE! I'm trying to find people I had fun with, and you're over here thinking I want to make people feel bad. That's messed up.

Thank you for this information. I came onto the forums to see how the new chapter release is going. I have had internet problems recently, so I have not been able to actually play DBD. I have seen some bugs in YouTube highlights, but I wanted to get more information before thinking that ANOTHER disaster of a chapter has been released.
I was really excited for the content. I have zero experience with Resident Evil, but the perks looked amazing and the killer was good too! I told myself that I would get the DLC if the chapter was not released with these kinds of problems. I am not gonna support DBD with my money if they still cannot get their crap together for a GIANT release like this. Also, I saw the Franklin's Demise no longer affects keys. I know that there are plans for keys, but would it hurt to keep the only perk that can stop keys before the key change? This is wrong. I agree @entitysbreakfast. Players deserve more than this. The only way we can get them to change is by not paying them, because that is all it seems like they care about now. I am sick of maps being disabled. I am sick of the buggy chapters.
I was super excited to get the DLC. Bummer.

Duck & Cover - Survivor Perk
You aren't afraid of getting dirty to keep away from the killer. You can live with laying on the ground of the Entity's realm.
While standing still, hold the Activate Ability button to go into a prone state for up to 3/6/9 seconds. Duck & Cover has a cooldown of 60 seconds.
-
Yes. Please.

1) I started playing a little before the Legion PTB, mid 2018.
2) At first, didn't have a survivor main, but after I prestiged a bunch of them, I didn't prestige Dwight in order to keep the perks on him. I consider myself a Dwight and Tapp main now. I still haven't prestiged Dwight so I have a survivor with all of the perks I have unlocked so far. Tapp is max prestige, but I like using his dark clothes with his hat.
3) Trapper and Huntress were my mains at first. Then I got the Leatherface DLC because it was the cheapest at the time. I played a lot of Bubba. I took a break from DBD and came back just playing Huntress because I didn't want to learn the new Bubba. After playing Huntress and getting Haddonfield 7 times in a row, I went back to Bubba. I like Bubba now (also I do not face camp, so please don't hurt me I get a lot of thanks in post-game chat for not being a stereotypical face-camping Bubba).

Thank you @Kernelzilla

Very rare sight to see.

Detectives Hunch.
Bring a plain old green map and the perk marks the totems. You don't even need a green map if you can keep track of where you saw auras. It's kind of strange how old this perk is and how popular hex perks still are.
Kind of weird how you made this a poll. Kind of weird having a small list when a bunch of perks are in the game.
-
I interpreted this as using a perk and it not working. I activated bloodwarden, and the survivors just phased through the block.
-
I like it. Starstruck puts some fear into survivors. If you hook near a generator, the survivors will pay a price if they don't scatter.
-
A similar thing happened to me while I was playing Survivor.
I play on PC Steam.
I was grabbed out of a locker by Freddy. I was trying to stun him with Head On, but he was able to search the locker before I could jump out. While the Freddy was carrying me, no wiggle progress bar appeared. I was pressing A and D as I normally do, but no wiggle bar appeared. My character was also not wiggling.
I was using Dwight with Head On, Detectives Hunch, Inner Strength, and Decisive Strike. The Freddy was not using Fire Up, and I forget some of the things he had in his kit. He was using BBQ & Chili, Hex Ruin, Pop Goes the Weasel, and a 4th perk. I do not remember the add-ons.
To recreate this bug, you could try searching a locker with Freddy while a survivor is trying to rush out of the locker using Head On.
-
The game tells you this before you confirm the prestige on a character.
-
I think this is a bad idea. It changes the essence of Hag and makes her more of a Trapper. Flashlights can be used to break her traps. Hag also uses her traps for movement rather than relying on raw movement speed.
-
I just thought that since it's a skill check, it should fail if you let go of the generator. No other skill check has that effect, so it seems like a bug that needed to be reported.

I agree.

This just happened to my friend.
We were on Steam PC.
Even though my friend was using Calm Spirit, sometimes he would scream out loud.
He was using Dwight with Calm Spirit 2, Prove Thyself 2, Hope 2, and Dark Sense 2. He brought Sweet Fresh William offering and a Worn-Out toolbox. The Doctor was using Overcharge 3, Distressing 3, Pop Goes the Weasel 3, and Unnerving Presence 3. Their add-ons were purple Discipline Carter's Notes and yellow polished electrode. He brought a Devout Raven Wreath offering. The map was Dead Dawg Saloon.

I got mine when a teammate DS'd the killer while I was on a hook nearby.

Does that happen every match with Freddy, or was it a one off?
This also happened to me in a game.
Edit: I was spectating, and I do not know if it only affected spectator view or the survivor view as well.

It sometimes happens on PC Steam, too. They pip in the endgame lobby, but the pip does not carry over out.

Stream sniping is not fair, and neither is SWF. Yes, it is a double standard.

It happened with a sacrificed Jake for me, too.

There are already perks that offer it, I don't think add-on would be necessary.
I agree it's not necessary, but I think it's a pretty nice-sounding option to have.
-
I don't see any harm in it. Yes, it would open up a perk slot, but you would also have to bring a map rather than any other item. I think it would be a neat option to have. It makes me think of an idea for another map add-on. Since you have to hold the activate item button (Mouse 2) long enough before the map starts showing auras and using charges, what if there was an add-on to make it work faster but burn up the map much more quickly as well? I'm not too dedicated to this idea. It's just something that popped into my head just now.

Soon they will prob put a way for you to pay for perk on a character
I kind of like that idea. Maybe it could be a benefit for prestiged characters? It doesn't have to be only for prestiged characters, but what if prestige 1/2/3 characters could directly get any tier 1/2/3 perk by using bloodpoints or iridescent shards? It's a rough idea.
-
I like Legion's Mori. I like how the survivor fights back and resists a little. The survivor shoves them back and blocks a vital attack with their arm. I know it doesn't really make sense since you would think 4 people could gang up on the one Legion, but I like how it reminds me that a lot of the the killers are just people, too.

I think Hex: Undying is mostly fine. The part of the perk I do not like is the aura reading abilities. I do like the idea of having a hex perk that can sustain other hex perks as Hex: Undying currently does. I do not like how it also provides the killer aura reading abilities to monitor their totems. I think that the aura reading ability that Hex: Undying has should be moved onto the hex perk that was made to monitor hex totems, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt. I also think that the aura reading ability should only activate if a survivor begins cleansing a totem. I think that because having the survivor's aura be revealed by just being near the totem gives the killer information of the survivors location without the survivor actively harming the totem. The radial activation of the aura reading gives the killer information of survivor locations without the survivor taking a implicant action to cause their aura to be revealed. With perks such as I'm All Ears and Territorial Imperative, the survivor has to vault or enter a specific location. As the aura reading ability works now, survivors can be revealed by passing by a totem while traversing across the map or while being chased around a loop.
I only put this much thought into this perk because of the upward trend of Hex: Undying and Hex: Ruin being used together. If the developers end up reworking the Blight's perk, I hope that they can at least improve an older perk, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt, that has a similar purpose of Hex: Undying. They both have been used to protect killers' totems.
