Bring a key and a hatch offering, play safe so your the last one standing if your team is gonna lose, wait for killer to close hatch, then open with key and escape. Easy peasy.

what if im rarely the last one standing though? 😂

  • Now reader of this post, whoever you may be. Whenever YOU feel bad about tunneling/camping/slugging/existing as a killer player... i want you to remember this post ;)

All your guilt will flush away, believe me XD

  • @tippy2k2 said:

That was a challenge back when the old hatch mechanic existed (where it would spawn based on the number of survivors left versus the number of gens left rather than only spawning when there is one survivor left).

Now it basically would take a lot of luck, a lot of throwing of games, or probably both to get the challenge done

yeah i alredy imagined since its tome 2. Still i wanted to check by if there is some other way for it, i guess only thing would be get together with my friends, try to get exit gates powered and inform them to not bother over me, so i can wait for the killer to close hatch, assuming im too at the exit gate only to open it and escape once everyone is safe. Which also sounds like hella lot of effort for 30k XD

Legit question, no right or wrong answers here. I'm just curious as to the reasons people have chosen a side and why they stick with it. I've recently been laying the foundation for a little mini DBD podcast and even if it never works out this is still one of my favorite ideas that I have written down for it. Its something I've thought to myself for years, not even just about DBD. It can really be any PvP game even though DBD is particularly interesting in that regard at least IMO

Is it as simple as just not having the time/desire to play the other role or is there a secret villain-arc that took place after something in-game happened to you? People can play however they want, I just find the answer(s) to this question very relevant to how the community interacts with each-other (myself included)

Sometimes I feel like me and others misunderstand each-other by accident or even intentionally alter our interactions with other players because of petty tribalism and perceived playstyle differences. I personally feel when you exclusively play one role your perspective will always be a bit limited and your potential social interactions or gameplay can be different too. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the topic or examples of this happening!

I play both sides quite often. I always want to make progress on both sides (ranks%challenges) so i have a rule of thumb to play a couple of matches every evening im playing DBD.

In my beginnings, i started playing survivor, to learn the game and because i didnt feel like playing against 4 people right off the bat. After a couple of rounds i started killer and ofc low mmr killer is like a walk in the park. But even then i had to face teabaging at the exit gates and got flamed for "tUnNeLlInG" when i didnt even know what that means first. I just saw how i got litteral death threads over a video game and being called trash just because i played better than them. Since i got stubborn and didnt care at all about the other players fun. (on both sides btw, when im playing survivor im that immersed ninja kinda guy who does safe unhooks and "genrushing") And it only got worse when i started to face SWF more frequently or bodyblocking, locker save techs (which are gone finally!) 4 petrified oaks and survivor sided map offerings etc.

The game provides all of that, so i dont blame the players. But i dont see why i should hold back when others dont, its PVP after all.

But i guess im still a bit killer biased, i do care about that role way more than on survivor. On survivor, low mmr i died alot. And i still die alot because i just cant or refuse to invest myself fully in loops. Doesnt mean im a headless chicken as survivor but i generally do expect less (especcially since i play soloQ expect on weekends) where as a killer my expectations are higher. All though, i dont think im a complete hardliner, i just generally think there shouldnt be a blame game for annoying tactics which are neccessary sometimes.

But the core of it is i guess when i come along with a hard challenge i wanna get done, doesnt matter which side, i can get salty fast when i cant seem to get it done. I play even more scummy and nasty as usual then, until i have it done.

It has never worked. Reporting hacker needs you to have a recording, open a ticket outside the game, and make a huge deal about it. It should be easy to report simple stuff, yet it isnt. So, until they don't fix it...

yeah its like that because peeps like you report for "hurr durr tunnelled me" They drown in reports. so whenever there is a REAL reason to report ALL other players have to go through hoops just for a single report.

Thanks for making DBD a worse place. Your contributing to nothing.

They are all functionally the same, but they often look different, feel different, and it really screws with me sometimes.

I know it's totally a perception thing, but it does have an effect.

good to know im not the only one, some really do feel weird. Especcially when you compare to your main killers.

Do you not understand that the Killer is blocking the prompt so the Survivor has no way to unhook?

The Killer has options while carrying a Survivor to a hook, both Survivors have ZERO in this situation.

It's not that difficult to understand.

its still just as annoying, however its a viable technique.

  • lmao thats not blocked, we can litteraly see the huge space you have towards your right, also there is a second survivor behind...

There's not really much of an advantage to playing her with a stealth build imo. Even if it lets you close the distance, at 110 almost every pallet in the game is safe so you are still relying on them running into traps, which doesn't really require any stealth to do.

I used to be a pretty big proponent of monitor + abuse before survivors got as good at looping as they did. But there's way better options available now

well i always run at least 2 gen regression perks but i find that the perk from Pyramid head which mutes your TR is quite nice with hag, since with call of brine and eruption you have to kick gens anyway.

however i dont use that perk that often since it sounds way better on paper than it is on practice, its cancled as soon as they jump back on the gen. But then again i dont play hag that often either, mostly when i have daylies. She is kinda enjoying though, so not a case where i would refuse to play her.

  • I dont pay that much attention to forum names (nor ingame) but i have made a couple of online friends to a point where we would regularly play SWF together on the weekends.

  • @Hensen2100 said:

Believe they are all the same distance, probably just feels different because she is so short.

I actually have trouble looping with her sometimes because you can't even see over a short loop that the survivor can; which is a massive disadvantage. Only killer I think is as low was release Blight, and Hag

Hag being small is an advantage for sneaky builds, however if you face a wall and they spin you have no idea where they go XD

Thanks for the clarification though, also to @Aven_Fallen

  • I got a 3 man swf who were somehow:

    Cheryl called "tricksters wife"

    Jake called "tricksters husband"

    And ace "tricksters dog"

and that nice looking kimono skin only costs 300 auric cells right now, I'd def play her and buy that skin

I have that paired with that underwader head skin, the one with the strange mouth ;) looks very nice

  • @NerfDHalready said:

you really need to have a thick skin to bear some matches sadly. if you don't feel like it, don't play to lose or don't play dbd at all i think.

What always catches me and gets under my skin is when im trying to do certain challenges. Like this evening, i had lots of plans for dbd but i had to quit the game after a couple of rounds.

first 2 with clown were somewhat succsessfull, all though i got 0 sacrifices, at least i got mutch points. It was still a little bit annoying but i thought "well maybe im just not good with clown today" <. which was true. I guess. Maybe just rng. However i did a new build with Plague and had 3 HUGE games even on Haddonfield one. i 4ked every game. The last plague game is where i progressed my next challenge to 1/3.

Gold emblems for sacrifice category. 9 or more hooks is iri, 1 hook for every survivor is at least bronce. But i never got over silver since i switched from plague to sadako and its not because its on sadako, i just ended the games too fast. Well the first was a 4 man escape but i thought i wouldve had enough hooks for at least gold, now the second i put gideon map offering and it was a toe to toe race, they had 1 gen left done but i at least 3 hooked a kate and then claudette died on her first hook. I hooked the dwight once and nea 2 times after she died too. Thats 7 hooks, but still silver x-x

Thats the moment where i snapped, it was so annoying not having that challenge progressed all though i got more bloodpoints than the challenge is worth obviously. But i wanted to get it done today. And i didnt feel like playing plague the whole time. I wanted to play survivor too but after that i was alredy too angered so i just quit the game after the match was over.

I just had one this morning. I knew it was going to be one because it had the classic sign of constantly readying/unreadying up in the lobby. I was doing the blind or stun a killer 8 times so I took a flashlight hoping for blinds. I forgot about the stupid challenge bug and so none counted. 😫

damn that hurts :( great opportunity taken away from you like that.

i do hope there is some compensation with all the mess with the challenges right now.

This is normal for any avarage to lower tier killers. Survivors know they play againts "easy" killer so they can take advantage of it and be toxic and annoying as much as they can.

unless they face a fake pallet freddy on gideon. Who also knows the map in and out.

  • i mean if you expect your opponent to make it especcially easy for you pvp maybe is not your thing.

Almost all challnges become ez done and you can farm totems, farm gens, you can get yourself injured and the bloodpoints just rain upon you. And then upon that also the escape. Win win to me.

    What a tragedy!

It is indeed, they dont deserve them for being toxic. So they can teabag all they want on the gate, they wont see me unless im done breaking all breakables.

  • we can talk about nerfing eruption ones the gens increase another 10 seconds in time. They still fly by like it was nothing so ofc killers bring gen regression meta.

  • @Roaroftime said:

Whenever I see someone being called a try hard, they tunnelled, slugged and camped all match which is usually the reason it's said. It's not a compliment, just means the killer normally sacrifices the entire rounds fun for everyone including themselves for a 4k. And also the methods they use for it normally don't require skill, means they're bad.

have you ever considered winning and getting the 4k is fun enough maybe? I dont see why anyone should feel responsible for some strangers fun. PVP games are ALL like that, only in DBD you have entitled people with their rulebook.

no in fact, its worse playing as him as going against him, at least there is that little game of trying to not feed him stalks and break LoS, using your enviorment tacticly which is kinda interesting. And if you play him its just "hold w+stalk -> 3 gens gone -> instakill/instadown"

I mean, I dont care about a Nerf to BNP, if they also remove a lot of Bloodweb-Clutter in the process. Since BNPs are the only good Toolbox-Add On left and Toolboxes itself are much weaker than they used to be. So if they nerf and/or remove the BNP, they should at least remove those Bloodwebs-Sinks as well.

But personally, I dont think it needs any Nerfs. BNPs are nothing compared to the stacked Slowdown-Builds you encounter as Survivor, if you go against someone with Eruption/CoB/Overcharge or similar stuff, the 25% of instant-progression are not really much compared to the Regressions you have to face.

And well, I cant really blame people for bringing strong stuff to get Gens done if stacked Slowdown is so oppressive as it is currently.

Last but not least, there is a Generator Completion-Archive in the recent Tome-Level, this might also be a reason for the increase.

lmao i use so many various add ons with my toolboxes, thing is i only use them when i have "repair x gens" challenges to boost it. Solely the ones that up your charges are worth more than BNPs especcially when you pair it with built to last. And then for the yellow ones i always take an add on that makes the repair time go faster.

There is in fact very little useless add ons on toolboxes, there are killers that have entirely useless add ons with maybe 1 or 2 good things while on toolboxes its the reverse, 1 or 2 add ons are trash. The others fine.

    I can't.

But since most often one survivor doesn't ready up, i get bored and check their profiles. Sometimes they are hidden sometimes not and the most ironically funny thing (IN MY EYES) is when 2 or 3 have their profile hidden but the last guy has all the others on their friendliest making the hidden profiles completely useless, at least in terms of being an obvious swf in DBD.

And if they either are all hidden or all console then i can't estimate in the first place.

And most importantly, I DONT CARE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I just played my non kill playstyle and the only goal is as many BP as possible without blatant and boring farming. Swf doesn't really make a difference there if they aren't a bully squad. And if they are, then they can have fun with a killer standing still and maybe looking at the chest in basement while I do something productive on my second screen or aside of the computer for the duration of the match.

man i need you as my anger management teacher XD

I'll politely disagree with you on Plaything on Pig. If you pair it up with the face mask add-on (which causes blindness when someone has a RBT on), the survivor afflicted with Plaything can't see the aura of their totem until they take the RBT off (and other survivors won 't be cleansing that totem soon either), giving you lengthy periods when at least one, if not multiple, survivors are Oblivious without you needing to crouch around them.

I have SO many matches where I catch someone heading for a box or on one who have no idea I'm coming because of Plaything and secure quick, easy downs as a result. Your results may vary on the perk, but I've had great success with it for a while now.

You are definitely on point with a Pig player not needing to focus on trap kills -- they're for slowdown, and any head pops are simply a bonus -- and her Ambush attack (which is useless at very large loops, but on smaller ones can be devastatingly effective (I love most of the pallet loops in the classrooms on Midwich, for example, as many of them box the survivor in with nowhere they can run if you crouch in the pallet).

To the OP's point, I prefer Corrupt over Lethal (unless I'm feeling spicy and am running the Video Tape add-on, which is when I do slap on Lethal). Ideally, you want a down and a trapped survivor before the 1st gen pops, and Corrupt gives you a better chance at that than Lethal, where survivors are likely jumping on a gen immediately. At least one slowdown perk is imperative -- I run Call of Brine to give me some control on what gen I'm regressing and PR as a secondary slowdown. With Corrupt and Plaything, I've found a pretty good mix to use against most teams I go up against.

oh i didnt know plaything and face mask add on would work together so well. I thought its a simmilar case with the jigsaw boxes. But that sounds like alot of fun, ima try out that myself!

Havent used plaything really i gotta say too, as in my post stated i generally hesitate using hex perks.

You may be not a pro, but your opinion is welcome!

Yeah, I try that, to use her rush when the survivor try to loop me at one pallet or windows, I need some practice with that, I think I got some trouble with that because I play more "fast" killer, like wesker, blight or legion

But, even if plaything is a waste for you, you are not against third seal?

I had to actually look third seal up but it doesnt sound very good. But i think i know what you are at, do you take "blindness" for litteral? its not like they dont see nothing anymore (cause i did that mistake with the various effects too, thinking they are litteral) all it does is make them "blind" towards aura reading. It means they dont see the aura of you or gens or other survivors, but only as long as the hex remains. Which makes it completely bad since they can break or cleanse it fast, most survivors know totem spots in and out on all the maps. It doesnt effect Terror radius or anything else, only auras. Plaything is way better than third seal in that case, but so far i have only Pinheads seen using that plaything perk.

I would just swap the hexes with 2 gen regression perks if i were you, unless you have enough pressure with the basekit tactics i mentioned above and find you dont need gen regression perks. But especcialy pain resonance and Call of brine are meta for a reason. Maybe the dms + pain res. combo if you got those.

  • Hexes are high risk, low reward. Youd need to have mutliple hexes for Pentimento to be usefull, only 1 replacement will only make them probably break the pentimento totem as soon as they see it, also when they bless instead of break the totems pentimento is useless.

-> also pentimento is a late-mid game hex for me. I leave the hexes on the ground, broken until 2 gens are left done, thats the moment where i might go out and rebuild them with pentimento, only if they are close. So it is a gamble in any case.

Plaything i think is a waste with piggy, if you play her enough you will learn when to start to crouch, especcially when you have lethal, when crouched they dont hear your TR anyway.

Now there are pro pig players who maybe set off bear traps all the time, but i imagine this requires lots of dedication and needs much training and learning. Im not a Pig Main but i have played her pretty much lately, and been enjoying that killer quite well.

The core of pig i would say is map knowledge. Ofc some maps are better for her than others, indoor maps and the ones that are not too large, Lerys i think is the best one for pig. But if you know how to 3-gen and control your area for the map, almost every M1 killer is going to be viable enough.

The traps are a good slow down though, pair it with 1 or 2 slowdown perks like pain resonance or Call of brine and you alredy have a good loadout, Lethal for a fast start is also nothing wrong. I just wouldnt try to hard to get trap kills and rather memorize where the ones you trapped were hooked/downed last and then check the nearest jigsaw boxes, most survivors will go always for the closest ones.

About her rush, that is an anti loop kinda. You need to crouch on the pallet, forcing the survivor to stay on the other side of the loop, start your rush and fake towards one side, then steer towards the other. Some will remain on the loop and get hit, some will leave the loop. Either way you forced them away from the loop or got your hit, thats a win win for you. Ofc this needs some practice but i personally dont find it as hard as learn how to steer with billy for example. Or landing hatchets with huntress.

I hope this helps a little, as i said im not pro pig player myself but the tactics mentioned above gave me a couple of good pig games lately.

    Shattered Hope.

Don't get me wrong, it would have to go hand in hand with some buffs to boon perks, particularly all boons besides CoH. Notably not alerting the killer via a global sound notification, as a start.

But I just do not enjoy the back and forth of repeatedly reblessing totems, from either side. Totems should be a finite resource.

Although there could potentially be a boon perk that allows you to rebless once, a bit like Pentimento for hexes.

Im the same way as well, I dont consider myself a master at any killer and go through what I like to call "different phases". Currently my 3 most played killers are Trickster, Dredge and Billy. If you would of asked the same question a year ago I would of said Blight and Nemesis, and so on.

I can 4k with pretty much any killer, I like taking the time to understand their strengths and weaknesses thoroughly, learning neat techs with them and so on. Makes the game feel fresh for me.

Now of course the weaker the killer is, the harder it gets, and the stronger the killer is the easier it gets. But I take the time to learn them anyway until I reach a point where Im satisfied (which is being able to comfortably enter a game with the goal of getting a 4k)

Doing so in normal pub matches is not that difficult, you dont consistently verse Survivors who are on the same level of streamers or comp players consistently, or these so called "death squads" that people love to claim they verse. Of course theres the odd time where its actual comp Survivors or the game gives me bad rng but other than that, the majority of my loses are my fault.

i mean just today was like sweat hell on killer side, just barely get my challenges done. I dont complain about it, because well. I did everything i needed to do. But it was still VERY hard earned. And not any condidiotions were about 4k, even 2k with hag cost me 3 games to get done.

Good for you when you are that good you can 4k every lobby. But the majority of killer players is not that.

I don't record my games typically either, but if I see something fishy I'll use the Nvidia overlay to record the rest of the game. If it's an option for you, you could try it ! =)

(I do have to say, it can make your game lag a little. But if you have a blatant cheater in front of you, that could help !)

what is the short key on keyboard for it? i used to do it by pressing the xbox button on my gamepad but since i switched to mouse und keyboard i have no clue XD

  • his reveal mechanic is probably the most inconsistent thing in this game. I had situations playing as and against him where ghostface either got revealed by just walking by, without me even looking at him or survivors litteraly running away from me, looking back towards me but not revealing me.

I think they mean, detect who is queueing together in the lobby, and if there is a 3-man swf in the lobby, gens will be 90s for everyone, if there are only solos, gens are going to be 80s for everyone during the game.

It wouldn't be a Prove Thyself situation but an adaptation of base kit gen time depending on who queued together.

but that would be still 10 seconds less for soloQ. The gens got basekit stretched because the killer side needed it, no matter swf or not.

1 … 7 8 9 10 11 … 14
