well you gotta understand, thats a killer issiue. So its of less importance than eruption which is a survivor issiue. I guess.
Also could bring in how shattered hope should be basekit but again then the same entitled surv mains who want eruption nerfed will say something about how it taxes a few seconds longer to boon than to snuff, so its completely justified having it infinite.

This is only 3 killers? You make it seem like half the killer roster has elements in their power that benefit survivors.
thats 3 too much.

Sound argument, good one. Thanks for your time

I mean they are worth comparing but in my personal POV DH has more counterplay because it can be waited/baited out. Once you see the 0,5s animation, that's it - you get the hit 100%. Not to mention if you're, let's say tunnelling someone who's deep wounded; their perk does nothing. It has things that stop it working
Waiting out an eruption is possible, but at least when you're waiting out someone's DH you're still pressuring them, aka furthering your objective. With survivor you have to basically be useless or be productive and then useless bc of incap lol.
And what about my vault scenario which you completely ignored because it dont fit your narrative? where is the "counterplay" ?

Suiciding is a way bigger problem than straight up DCing. Why you can even give up on the hook is beyond me. People should be forced to eat the DC penalty if they want out that badly. A lot of people who try and kill themselves on the hook will play out the game if you unhook them before they succeed. At least in my experience. I also think people giving up is a sign of bad game design from the survivor's perspective. Killers very rarely DC when compared to survivor. There's obviously something in the gameplay that a lot of people don't find very fun. Probably the rampant tunneling and facecamping.
lmao nonesense XD
People DC for the most stupid reasons ever, on both sides. Just because a game doesnt go as they would like, they DC. Has NOTHING to do with balance.

That's not what I said though.
I'm saying I would agree with your argument if Eruption had a 0.5 visual cue like DH does
But it doesn't
So I don't agree with your argument

Give us a visual Q 0.5s before eruption happens then I will 100% agree with you
yes exactly, as i thought, you just want it to be nerfed to the ground. Why on earth would i pick eruption when it doesnt set off anyway because now its super easy to wait out? You can just wait it out, take your 10% loss and then IMMEDIATLY work on the gen again. Whole point of eruption ruined.
-
@Brokenbones said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3270503#Comment_3270503
Hey let me put it this way
if a gen had a visual que that eruption was about to happen (Like DH has a visual que), I would 100% be okay with it.
I really hope you're not defending eruption purely because DH is a perk that you dislike. I'm not its biggest fan either but it doesn't frustrate me anywhere close to the same amount as eruption does
DHs visiual Q is an animation you mostly not see when its used because they are BELOW your camera angle. And when you finally learn to not fall for spin into DH, then you learn too how it can be absolutly busted on vaults and even thrown pallets. Either let them vault and get to the next loop OR hit them for their DH endurance and so they cant use it in the next loop. Still a loose loose situation.
So yeah, if DH is fine, eruption is too.

Keys have really good aura reading, they can make mind-gaming impossible and lead to longer chases.
Maps, with certain addons, can heavily prevent 3-gening, they can also help find important things like Hex Totems or Dull Totems to Boon (thus not wasting more time).
I consider Keys and Maps to be among the most underrated items in the game, you never see them yet they can do so much for the team.
when i was new i used to run keys and maps often for aura reading ^^ but now that i have so many perks to do that i kinda only use toolboxes and medkits.

See that's your problem man
You're going under the assumption we all want it nerfed into the ground when in actuality, many of us want a chance to actually do something about it when it's in our games.
I don't want Eruption nerfed into the ground, I want to be able to actually do something about it when I'm vsing someone using it. This is the exact same issue dead hard had, even when you 100% knew somebody had it many times you couldn't do a thing to counter it.
Wanting something you find unhealthy changed, is not unreasonable by default no. It entirely depends on your idea, how you go about it etc.
But thats not what im saying. Im saying this is the first good thread about I HAVE SEEN. I also said i stoped looking at the threads because of all the nonesense i had to read when they began to pop up regularly. All of those ideas i found were just wanting to take away pressure material from the killers and nothing else. The incapacitated annoys me too as a survivor. And as a killer i couldnt care less about incapacitation, all i care is the regression, blocking the gen is a good + for it. But im busy hooking downed survivor anyway.
What you wanna do about me not having seen or maybe missed some other good threads about it? this is MY first one. I swear you gotta have an argument just to have an argument.

I agree with this, flashlights are fine. They are weak item, but they arent meant to provide a massive advantage, they are just meant for having fun really. I think people forget that things can be weak but still can be fun, and that's why DBD is about, having fun.
Also against some killers (Artist, Hag, Wraith, etc.), it can be a valuable tool to deal with their powers. And with Residual Manifest, you can apply Blindness to the killer which has won me a few games here and there. They can serve as good utility and I feel like everyone kind of ignores that.
i mean they are stronger than keys and maps.. or maybe they are below maps, but nothing beats the keys XD
the main reason for flashlights throwned upon are tbecause of how (most) players use em anyway.
-

If people don't have fun in a game they will either dc or kill themselves on hook,, gotta deal with it and stop complaining,, i get it they may mess rest players' fun but that's multi-player games,, or sometimes a killer gets an early snowball and game goes downhill from there and they wanna be done with that round
do you accept it too when the killer DCs or is that a completely other thing? cause my example was a nemesis.
And no im not going to accept it, imagine there was no penalty, the game litteraly would be unplayable because anyone throws a tantrum over some various things. Nurse wouldnt have games at all, michaelas would be hated upon because they dc because you just booned THEIR totem, snowballing a game would be impossible or escaping, since both sides would just quit at either 1 or 2 gens left.
DCing is NOT ok.

Strange, I don't remember people suggesting to buff dead hard when people were having problems with it
Or Circle of Healing
Or Boons in general.
People aren't going to suggest buffing things they find unhealthy for the game, to say that's just people blindly calling the perk OP is dishonest imo. Being constructive means suggesting things in a civil and reasonable manner, it has nothing to do with if the idea is a buff or a nerf lol
wanting to have one of the few gen regression perks killer have nerfed to the ground is what you call reasonable?

Genuine question, but do such teams really count as bullying if there's no BM coming with it ?
I've run into a couple teams of these peculiar fellows when I was a newer killer, with sabos and Breakout and Boil Over, but they never seemed to be any meaner than your average survivor. I don't remember them teabagging or taunting me.
Then again, I usually have insane luck when it comes to going against cool survivors, so it might be that most teams with those builds BM and that I got lucky with those I met. Wouldn't be the first time something like that happened =D
in my games the average survivor IS someone who teabaggs at every pallet drop ever, there is like 1 out of 4 who doesnt teabagg so yeah. Consider yourself very lucky XD

I absolutely LOVE it when they sent me to Gideon XD no cap! I know that map in and out so well i ALWAYS know where they are because they always take the same paths.
Actually most squads i destroyed were on gideon. If i play a teleporter like onryo or dredge, Legion or freddy on top of that, its gonna be an ez 4k for me. I cant deliver that consistent on any other map. Even had a trapper game lately where it first seemed to go ez for them on gideon, but than at 3 gens left i started snowballing. He might be in a lower mmr than im used to though. Havent played him in litteral months until yesterday.
-
Not to mention the totem spots are always in a 5-eye dice template. 4 in the corners, 1 in the middle of the map.
Only hexes i run all full moons are: Undying, Blood favour, plaything and pentimento. But if i have the decision between some hex builds and perks that gonna apply pressure the whole trial, ima take anything but hexes. They have become "fun builds" by now.
meanwhile survivors can boon their totems over and over again, just give us shattered hope basekit at that point.

It kinda shows which part of the community needs to be pleased a little more. I have played knight like once in the PTB, i still gonna play him though, but ima use the guards for camping hooks and directing survivors to a path I want them to go. Like making sure to send the guard towards or IN killer shack, forcing them away and being able to chase them somewhere easyer.
Its gonna need practice, its gonna get me another 1000 flame comments in EGC, but if the devs want to make him weak because he is debuffed while using his power meanwhile the survivors have all info they need, then im not going to play him the casual way.
(i also hate that there is 3 diffrent guards, but you cannot switch them as you please. Wanna kick that gen? sorry you just used the big guy, have the fast one who needs longer to do it. Need to guard a hook? sorry, lantern guy isnt aviable right now, slow big guy however looks more intimidating anyway, use him)

Deathgarden was all about hiding and evasion with little looping, on account of the killer having a gun.
i have just watched some random video from deathgarden, just a slight peek. Aside from the shooter aspect, i absolutely adore the maps and the fast paced movement. Imagine there was more objectives than just gens in dbd! I mean we have totems but you know.
What DBD does way better though is unique characters, even the survivors. A mix of those 2 games i think would be THE perfect game for me 😏

What if they were somehow able to compromise? A part of me wants to say this is a literal skill issue if you're having trouble with looping and whatnot. I REALLY DON'T WANT TO SEEM RUDE, THOUGH.
You can call it skill issiue, maybe it is. But i can assure you, if i would invest more in loops, maybe watch some education vids how to take the various looping tiles, i could get just as good as the regular survivor that has alredy reached softcap. But because i really find looping boring, i have built myself some other ways around to be skillful. I can hide from the killer mid chase with quick&quiet and dance with me or paired with lithe even and i can just pull as much weight. Ofc i get caught fast sometimes, but if im not the first one being chased the gens will get done asap and you have someone to save you not in the killers face.
-
@Sava18 said:

What do you mean paths? Because looping and chase is the only skillful thing survivor's can do. You just want to chase them as they drop every pallet on the map and nothing else? I mean I guess if you play m1 killers you might hate it, but they lack the ability to express too much skill in general.
i mean i would find it more interesting to be outplayed because they have some trigger actions aviable, like jumping over fallen trees or throwing crates and other stuff than only pallets in your way, the "paths" could be various ways to go, which are followed up by several areas where its somehwat easy to evade because of high grass or deep foggy woods or something. Chases would be cooler if they were more linear, its hard to explain.
Lets take mcmillian estate for example. Instead of a bunch of loopy tiles there could be another 2 or 3 areas with thick dark woods, with several hiding spots for the killer to search. The skill could be about being smart by knowing when to move position and when to stick to it. The main building could have underground tunnels and mines, like a labyrinth and maybe a Chute who was used for transporting coal but now survivors can slide it down to buy some seconds of time in chase. THAT would make me enjoy chases WAY more. Maybe my inner action junkie is showing, idk. Would be better than running in circles imo.
(also looping aint the only skillful thing to do. Knowing how to unhook safely, knowing how to not get yourself 3-genned and knowing how to hide around tiles whithout getting seen all though the killer searches the exact spot is not skillfull? Not to mention pallet/flashlight saves and tanking hits.)

We're far past the point of this being a hide and seek game. It still can happen... at the bottom. So you can either smurf to get there, or employ and evolved form of stealth getaways with Distortion, Quick & Quiet, Shadowstep, Off The Record, Lucky Break, Parental Guidance, etc. Those kinds of perks also help players with non-stealth playstyles, and I wish they'd try using them before they complain, "There's nothing I can do different."
I mean im really not very good at loops, as a killer i can do my skilllevel just and dont completely get destroyed at loops, but as a survivor alredy simple mindgames can sometimes get me. Sometimes i mindgame the killer but thats mostly when i leave the loop super early, i break line of sight and hot tail it outta there, so the killer wastes some few seconds to loop until he realizes ive gone alredy, making me just reach another tile which im more comfortable with.
If i can play full gen and ninja, then im way better. Im that one that the killer hardly sees, who unhooks and heals and all but also hides like 2 feet from the killer away without getting noticed. But i also have a feeling im not that good at looping because it always feels so dull to me, the whole looping concept.
(oh and yeah, i know hide&seek was a thing in this game WAY before i got into dbd. years before XD a man can still have dreams though. Its not that i dont enjoy the game otherwise, its just the looping i cant really take any enjoyment from)

Firstly, let's just get it out of the way, balancing around all MMRs is a terrible idea. It just is. I almost want to stop arguing with you because I cannot take someone who believes in that idea seriously at all.
Secondly, my point is, the stats for the top 5% of MMR are significant because it's supposed to show (I say "supposed to" because MMR is dogwater) what's good and bad at the level of players who actually know what they are doing, and thusly accurately showcase what is good and what is bad. If you want to argue that these stats should be ignored for whatever reason, then why are we bothering looking at the stats that include the massive range of bottom MMR players which completely skew any numbers worth taking seriously on account of matches in that range being a complete and utter circus?
I'm not even taking the other guy's side on this. I couldn't care one way or another. But if you're gonna accuse someone of making up numbers and then ignore the numbers presented to fit your narrative, that's just comically hypocritical.
balancing around the MASS of players IS the way to go. You cant read the stats your showing even right yourself. Thats for the first.
The game should be accsessable to anyone, not only the top 5% thats why i said top 5% doesnt mean mutch. Evil dead made that mistake of balancing around the top players and we all know how that played out. Anyway, devs know better than you and me so we can argue about it all we want.
And you talk again about low MMR, i have not seen the statistics YOU presented with an image about "low mmr" so why keep bringing this in? Your starting to talk nonsense now. Jumped from whataboutism to nonesense... Which is why you start to irritate me now, so ima just ignore you from now on.

This is gonna be VERY unpopular but: Looping.
on both sides actually. I might survive more often if the game would resolve around more hiding and have less looping tiles, more evading possibillitys.
And as a killer i would enjoy it more chasing someone around the map and through paths than in circles. Would be more immersive i think.

I dunno, what good use does factoring in the bottom 5% of the playerbase have in overall stats? The bottom 10%? The bottom 25%? Especially in a system where the matchmaking is terrible?
great, now we reached whataboutism. The statistics you showed are 1= all mmrs and 2 = top 5%.
for balancing matters you balance around all mmrs. Or to show off how balancing stuff actually changed stats (which BHVR did by releasing those) youd also wanna take the "all mmrs". The top 5% are an addition to know whats going on in the masters den so to say. Nothing of importance for casual players.
the other one said the 63% killrate is an aggregation of ALL killers, which is not, its the aggregation of pinhead, onryo and wesker. So they made up their fake statistic by saying ALL killers have an aggregated killrate of 36%, which makes my statement about them making things up true.
AND.. You argue over do not ignore the 5%, of which i asked why, then you counter with "well why shouldnt we ignore the 10, 25 bottom %. Which was never talked about and about those were not released any numbers. (again "all" mmrs, first image).
both of you have no case. if you wanna bring statistics in at least do it right, i guess im done here since you couldnt answer my question in the first place, you keep changing the subject like the other one.
im not the one trying to push a narrative here 😁

The point is to make sure you're not full of bs and actually play both sides of the perk before claiming it is unbalanced. You claim DH is OP? Then play with it and prove it's OP, it shouldn't be very hard since you pretend DH is "free" right? Because, if you're only here to relay Otzdarva's quotes, then I'd rather discuss with Otzdarva or wait for his next video about how DH is OP, rather than have someone quote 30 sec out of context. In case you didn't know, the last time Otz discussed the survivor meta perks, he even rated Sprint Burst higher than DH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP1us6aSJSk
So to me it looks like you're only quoting 20 sec of Otz's random survivor complaint - while he was probably on his 59th winstreak and still got 4K along the way - and concluding that because a top 5% MMR killer sometimes loses to DH then that must be the reason why you're losing to DH too.
DH requires skill to use and the fact you can't even recognize this shows that you haven't played with the perk at all. The game has never been as easy for killer as it is now, especially when broken s*it like NOED and DMS stil exist that give more undeserved wins than all the DHs in the world (at least, for 95% of the playerbase).
Wasting 2 sec of killer time at the cost of a perk is ridiculously not worth it. By your own logic then Sprint Burst and Head On should be way more OP.
its not about OP its about annoyance and still overly used.

i see 3 killers at 63%, which is not ALL killers. So they made their personal fantasy statistics up indeed. I was wrong on who they are, but i wasnt wrong by saying its 3 out of 39 who have 36 %. The problem is, aside of some niche interactions with blood amber and unique wedding ring, keys are largely useless now.
And the keys and its addons flood the bloodweb with items you will probably never use.
The maps are the same. Unless you really want to do things like cleansing totems or avoiding 3 gens, there is no real use for maps. The only situations i can think a map would be useful is against trappers or hags, but these two are weak and rare killers to encounter.
Although fair to say, apart from the previous two:
Luck offerings are also useless.
Fog reagents are also useless(the purple maybe could pass)
Shroud of union kind of meh
Survivors' shroud of binding and killers' shroud of separation should be swapped
and my point still stands. Dont take away stuff some players could make use of.

It’s exactly how it works. The kill rate produced by the devs is an aggregate. It doesn’t really matter if only three killers (and you’re wrong on who they are; Pinhead, Onryo, and Wesker are the top 3 individually) have the highest individual rates. Because your favorite killer having an individual rate below 63% means diddly squat for game balance. The total kill rate is 63%.
ok keep to your made up statistics to push your narrative. Now that you are straight up lieying i dont have any need to talk to you about this further. Waste of my time.

I mean the 63% as an aggregate of all killers. Individually, those “three killers” aren’t even in the top 3 of killers performing best individually.
thats not how it works XD its nurse, onryo (and blight?) at 63%. The others are lower. That is not "all killers have a killrate of 63%". And it also doesnt differ from casual players or new players whos killrates are MUCH lower but add into the same pool as some coconut, lilith omen and other pro gamers.
and trust me, killers dont wanna play only 3. If they did the "killrate" was way higher. Dont trust too much on statistics, they say nothing and only serve to push a narrative.

SWF isn’t a strategy; it therefore can’t have “counterplay.” SWF could be +1, +2, or +3 survivors playing together. They may or may not be on comms. They may or may not have synchronized builds. They may be chill or proficient. All of these and many more variables are at play in SWF, and most of them exist for solo queue as well. If you’re consistently losing to SWF teams specifically then you may need to improve your own skills as a killer in general.
obviously we are not in the situation OP mentioned if it wasnt a comms swf who juked the game like it was some navy seals team. cmon. You always try to get off topic aswell, also i said SOMETIMES.

In fact, to bring a key is an invitation to be tunneled early by the killer.
not true at all. While keys are the worst items there are, they still have SOME value. Aura reading, especcially for newer players who dont got any perks for it. When i started as a yui survivor, my only aura reading perk was when pallets were down. Which i obviously couldnt make use of, now i love that perk because i know it also gives some more info than it seems. And being able to resett the pallet gives the team some help, especcially if it is a main pallet. And also some bloodpoints.
but new players dont have such indepth knowlege and dont know to take dwight for bond or equip kindred in soloQ, they will start with whoever survivor catches their eye first. Depending on it, they really can profit off of keys and maps. I used to have add ons on green keys for reading teammates auras, it helped me with some challenges and all.
taking away all of it just because meanwhile we have perks for that stuff, wouldnt be fair. And just buffing them is dangerous for the balance of the game. Its ok to have things that have more use for new players and less for experienced ones.

If you know that this survivor have a DH and you still not waited it out - thats your skill issue.
Survivors can't use it for distance (unhealthy) anymore, and I do think that this perk is completely fair now.
having to wait it out is annoying too you know? it still steals time. Its nerfed, that doesnt make it less annoying.
If a house burns down to full and another house burns down only half, both famillies are going to have a bad day. same with Dead hard. Its not THAT MUCH of an unfair, overpowered perk anymore. But it is still as annoying as it was before, even nerfed.
Its not possible to make this perk right, because of its nature. Like some other perks too. Im glad its not the old one, but i still dont like it.

I don’t believe that OP’s motivation was self-improvement, because they did not ask any of the survivors what they did wrong or where they messed up; they asked the survivors if they were SWF—presumably after checking their profiles. But if OP really did care about where they messed up, they could have recorded their game and either brought that here or analyzed it on their own. Instead, they’re in the forums complaining about suspicious things. As someone else here mentioned, not all SWF groups play the same (or even optimally), so “SWF” isn’t the reason why OP lost.
i just explained how SWF sometimes has no counter to it, so there is no way of improvement when there is no counter. Its viable wanting to know if that is the case.

Oh come on... You can safely use a DH in front of the killer only 1 time, when killer don't know if you have one.
After first use, the killer will expect it for the rest of the match, and just wait it up...
The main problem with DH were solved (distance), I think this is the healthiest and fair perk now.
of all perks the healthiest? are you sure about that? there is like over 40 perks. And dead hard, out of all, is the fairest? you cant be serious.
