  • I mean i always take 3 health states into account by now. Which makes it more like an action pvp than horror. At least i dont fall for the spin into DH no more.

its still as annoying as it was before. Its definitly weaker. But the annoyance of this perk didnt go away.

I don’t believe it really matters whether your opponents are SWF or solo, at least not for the sake of improving as killer. You should be adaptable, as a killer main, and adjust to however the survivors are playing. If you were to message me after a match asking whether I was in a SWF or solo, I’d ignore and block you. It’s a peculiar question to ask, especially since you evidently checked their profiles.

I mean. This is true to an extent. But its also a matter of fact swf has communication, which allowes them to know full time where you are.

this means you have some huge advantage that a killer has taken away from you, so if you dont see any wrong plays and get boggled how you somehow NEVER found anybody aside from maybe once or twice all match, that is because they were exactly telling "get off the gen, he is coming towards you." which is a rare case. But also nothing where the killer did mess up since there is no counterplay to that. (aside maybe from being wraith and go invisible.)

So that information could at least validate there was no mistakes made on your own side. Which is also a part of learning, knowing which and when mistakes are made.

  • today it seems to be especcially bad. Had aprox. 5 killer games and 4 survivor games. And there were NO dcs in 3 of them. so out of 10 games there was at least 7 times someone (or multiple in one round) DCing.

You should try to be near that gen next time yourself then, to check it out :D the perk blinds everyone nearby, not only killer. Pretty fun (and disorienting) experience, tbh

oh i was near the gen. The game was a lost cause so i thought "welp, i have still my blast mine charged, might as well trying to get use of it before i die"

so i knew he would check that gen, was only 1 left and it was close to another. I started off my blast mine as soon as i heard TR, but ofc he hunted me first. I got downed on the very loop around the gen and then hooked a few meters away, perfectly in sight of the gen. I was the only one near though. Well aside from the killer who got stunned/blinded XD

  • @hastarkis said:

    Blast mine do both :)

    >> When the Killer damages a Trapped Generator, the Trap explodes, stunning them and blinding anyone nearby.

appearantly ^^ i just heard alot people saying its only stunns, thats why i am confused about it.

  • @BendIt said:

I'm obviously not saying that this is the case but, how strange that someone lies about whether they play in SWF.

BHVR has enabled SWFs so what causes people to want to avoid / lie about being in one?

I think they just want to make the killer feel bad by lying.

i get destroyed by soloQs sometimes, not gonna lie about that. But i can mostly backtrack where i did wrong (often when i wasted too much time for 1 chase and didnt let go because i got tooo focused on the one chasing." But when they play perfectly coordinated, i had it often they denied being in an SWf. So well, i guess its just for being rude.

  • @Colton147147 said:

Killers tend to lie more than survivors.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Why do you care?

If somebody messaged me saying, "Why are you playing with your friends?" You bet your ass I'll lie to them.

why would you lie at them though? if they are in the wrong? lieying implies there must be some shame to wanna avoid facts.

  • thanks for the suggestions! i had some quite fun lately with pig, and testing out new builds and add ons that actually work well is gonna be nice!

i dOnT kNoW whY hE hiT mE oN hOoK

i got 2 rage quitters for "tNnElLiNg" today, they happen to be the only ones ive seen. Maybe because they kept exchanging hooks and using basekit BT for tanking hits, they really think im one of those killers playing by the rulebook and not taking advantage? XDD hell no! I did have both of em on death hook with 4 or 3 gens remaining but before i could hook one of em, they both quit XD Brought flans and bloody party streamers too. I had a flan equipped aswell. for me it was still much Bloodpoints outta that.

  • i often just type "mad cuz bad" but then again with me they dont have to go so far to search for something, so they have to make up hacks. Im a filthy tunneler, camper, slugger, killermain, so i get complaints about that way more than over hacking.

however my respond is always the same. or i troll them if i think its worth my time. And if they happen to slipp in a bannable insult i immediatly report.

I somewhat always get Onryo or Demogorgon. Demo I enjoy, while I am not good at Sadako. She seems to be better then her reputation, when you know how to condemn survivors, and Willi even did a double brown add-on match that got 3 condemnation moris, but that dude is basically married to Sadako and knows her inside out.

i have seen coconuts video about him ^^ Then again i didnt gave much about tier lists anyway, its always influenced by personal preferenz and ofc lots of training with said killers.

ofc a nurse on her peak is probably better than a freddy on his peak but in my hands it would be reversed. the only daylies i do avoid are "escape as x" if its not one of my main survivors.

  • @AcelynnBen said:

honestly i wouldn't use last will

anything that increases the charge time i would stay away from

    use Shattered Syringe

it reduces the cooldown time if u miss the ambush attack

Well it just worked out though, but have thought about the syringe too. I also got a soloQ lobby probably because there was 2 people being in my eyes all the time and then ofc when i only downed them they suddenly quit, despite me bringing a flan, someone else did too and there was a party streamer in it too. XD i got my ambush on the first one though, when they are working on gens and you approach sneaky, i feel like the first is always the easyest.

  • Dead Hard.

every game now i have to deal with survs who got 3 health states at least once in the trial. After that i can sometimes dodge it and sometimes its super sketchy.

Video tape and wires is funny, since if they fail a box skillcheck they become injured early on

oooooh thats smart! no idea how i havent seen this XD

  • I mean im not a dev but the diffrence is the hook struggle is an ingame mechanic, without a penalty, there would obviously be DC abuse over the top and into the Void straight away.

While quitters suck yes, they dont do something quite gamebreaking. Ok you could argue them making it in a 3v1 can cost you a game, but thats also the case if you just get killed very fast regular or if the killer especcially tunnels the weak link of the team. So it is within that spectrum of bad going games for the survivor side.

And now i get your point of it might me hard to measure when its actually a throw or when the people just miss. Also the first 3 struggles at first hook could be trying to 4% too, thats just to hard to control. (personally if there is no luck offerings paired 4 or if they dont use deliverance i ALWAYS see it as suiciding on hook because they dont like something. But in theory it could be anything.)

  • forst off all, sorry for the dots there anyone. Copy pasted from the wiki and now they seem to have infected my post with dots XD cant seem to delete them.

    @TeabaggingGhostface said:

It does work like that, but i personally prefer running something like amandas letter or straps

Another notable combo is video tape and razor wires

Thanks for the backup there ^^ i wasnt quite sure because its so diffrently phrased, some perk descriptions feel overly complicated to read. I have 1 left dash attack to do for my daylie so i really wanna boost the dash honestly, been using the straps normaly. But im also going to take a closer look at video tape and wires, not a big fan of iri add ons though, because they are so rare. I mostly safe stuff like that for 4k challenges with specific killers or if i have to get moris with them over challenges.

Well, no. You missed the point.

Bodyblocking is NOT punishable because it's a game mechanic both sides can use. However, depending on your intentions behind it, it can be punishable despite it being a game mechanic.

Ex: Blocking someone into a corner for 20 minutes.

See what I'm and others are trying to hint at? I personally don't care about how people play, I'm just asking a question because people have made some good points. Nothing serious or anything.

just making sure noone turns it into another "tnnel bad" fake argument.. What your reffering to is taking the game hostage, like litteraly. Yes its done by body blocking but it is not 'only' body blocking, its done exxeggarated for no other reason than to bully someone. I think that is a very easy to understand diffrence.

Maybe, and don't take it to heart or anything, but are these considered "too hard" to validate? Therefore, the team decides to not avoid these altogether? If so, I understand, I know some reports can be rather tricky and time consuming when the team can be focused on more pressing reports. Again, I'm not judging, just looking for some clarification and transparency.

I apologize if I said anything wrong.

those are normal play styles. Just because some special snowflakes take it personal and got their feelings hurt doesnt mean its in evil intent... its playing a GAME.. This community will never understand.

Google Stadia is a cloud-based gaming service. Instead of playing a game on a Console, you stream the game.

    Positives:

    • You can play on any device.
    • Downloading is non-existent, so you can just play when you want to.

    Negatives:

    • You dont actually own the games you pay for, you just own the right to stream/play them, so when Stadia dies, you lose everything.
    • Takes a lot of bandwidth since you are streaming the game.
    • It's going to be shutdown in 2023.

    thanks for the explanation ^^

  • i have been THIRSTY for the bots arriving in DBD since they announced it in the anniversary stream.

Ofc i will use this opportunity to have some practice with killers i hesitate to learn in public matches, or to shake of rust with some i havent been playing in a while.

-> also custom lobbys with friends is now possible since we never could get 5 people at 1 evening.

And now, let me tell you. I do my challenges, i get my bloodpoints, ive built some skill in the online lobbys, i will not stop ofc. But i have come to a conclusion for me, its only healthy to play DBD during main game time, late at night is just... awful. Especcially as killer. And on weekens? during the day? survivor kinda seems working out but killer really is limited for me, only evenings no matter what. Ofc there will be some hard games but its a good mix.

so whenever i just feel like playing dbd without any pressure, just play the game and not worrying about challenges not getting done because the other players ruin my plans, i can switch to custom. Which is great!

i do hope you can customize the bots though. I know its niche but idk. You will be able to give them perk builds but always facing the same skins gets boring fast i believe.

  • im going to use this opportunity and ask:

what is stadia even? never heard of it XD

  • Xbox = Microsoft. And you really think microsoft cares? like they gonna have some people pick up games, look through how the communitys are and then just singlehandedly banns those games from their store just because of some special snowflakes who never learned how to behave?

    dont worry about it ;)

  • @Krazzik said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3268366#Comment_3268366

I mean that's exactly what it means. Balancing killers around the top 1% means making all killers able to hold their own and do well reliably against good 4-man SWFs. This in turn means that anyone he isn't a good 4-man SWF gets rolled.

which is not what we want. I dont want to get rolled just because i dont have 4k hours in this game. And this accounts for both sides.

  • @Emeal said:

The reason some streamers try to hype up another game is to get their viewers to watch them play it rather than the game the streamer is tired of playing. This is a huge problem with dbd and we do end up with some negative Nancy streamers who cant quit cause of money.

None of those changes are set in stone yet.

yeah but even with highly negative responses from BOTH sides they keep pushing for at least 2 other PTBs instead of just scrapping the whole thing

Dbd is the only online game I've ever played where having poor connection is an advantage.

As BHVR already announced, the option to play custom games with bots will be added in the next patch (Knights release). Keep in mind its only possible to add survivor bots for now, the killer bot option might be added in the future. The community seems excited about it, since now we will be able to practice things in our time rather than trying to keep up with a normal PVP match.

So heres the question: for what are you guys most excited to use the custom matches...?

i wouldve voted for all 3 of the first points XD

My lovelies, just to prevent you from spending needless time on my tactic: this is of course utter bogus! You don't have to open the hatch and escape two times in the same trial! That would be so crazy :D I just pulled ya leg, but I don't want in on my kharma tab if you guys tried to do it for an entire evening or something and get super frustrated. Escaping the normal way with a key is tough enough, IIRC you need to escape via key 4 times for all tome challenges?

    lmao got me there XD

but as i have said here a couple of times anyway, no matter what that challenge is a waste of time in any form. it only gives 30k bloodpoints which are earned like in 2 trials, make it 3 if you have some veeeery bad rounds. The challenge however would probably last for several days until its done.

I don't bring super meta builds (which unfortunately comes to bite me in the ass since I therefore can't counter tunnel), though I don't control what my teammates bring.

I don't BM, and will reprimand my teammates in chat if they do.

If we're into an impossible situation of 2 remaining survivors, too many gens left and my teammate seems to be stealthing, I'll look for killer or wait under a hook so that the game is not extended by 15 min of hide and seek.

I offer a kill to killers who played fair and got no kills by the time the doors opened. Especially paying it forward to Nurses =) (They were the kindest players I met when I was a baby survivor)

And if the game was fair, I'll compliment the killer on one good play they did, maybe they had a crazy mindgame I fell for, or a stupid down that was objectively funny, or good map pressure... plenty of good things to say when we all had fun !

(If the game was unenjoyable or if killer BM'd, I'll just refrain from engaging in the chat rather than write anything)

I'm not good enough as survivor to really need to do anything more to play particularly fair or be an easy target. X)

alright you know what, thats fair ^^

im sorry that players like you have to face killers like me who just dont give a dime. But i would play more "fair" if the majority of players was like you.

most of the time i just want to get my challenges done, if it is not a 4k challenge or something that is done easyly i might to let last survivor have hatch or exit gates, or even run into every pallet they throw so they get points. But its rare. If i have the opportunity to 4k i will hardly let it slipp, all though i know its gonna hurt my mmr.

but 3k hurts mmr too so i would have to set myself up to only maximum 2k every lobby. Which then hurts the bloodpoints i would earn, so yeah XD i have my priorities. Once maybe i have ALL perks maxed out i can reconsider my priorities. But that is far future.

  • @HarlockTaliesin said:

I wouldn't recommend bringing a key into a trial. Killers see that and figure you're going for the hatch, so they go out of their way to make sure you die first. Survivors figure the same and will often leave you on a hook, not heal you, point you out to the killer, etc.

Better to just use a build for it. Pillager's+Appraisal+Clairvoyance+Sole Survivor is a great one for it.

Pillager's shows you where the chests are and gives you a high chance of getting a high quality item out of it (for me it was usually either red key, purple key, or red map).

Appraisal will let you search up to three chests a second time for keys, and stacks with Pillager's so whatever you pull out of it the second time will have the same chance of a high quality item as when you first opened the chest. If you get a purp/red key, hide it somewhere you can easily get to later (particularly if the killer is running Franklin's) so you're not holding it all the time to give away what you're doing, not getting it knocked out of your hand somewhere, and letting you use other items like toolboxes/med kits in the meantime. If you pull something else out, like a higher end toolbox or med kit, you can still make use of it yourself, or leave it by the chest or drop them off near gens for other survivors to use. If you pull a red map out, that can be a backup for Clairvoyance since it'll show the hatch w/o any addons.

Take out a totem early to charge Clairvoyance (this has better range than Left Behind at 64 meters vs 32, and you don't want to have the perfect setup but someone else crunched all the totems). The only difference is it's used like a map, so you'll want to get somewhere near the middle of the trial map to start, set down the key (have to be empty handed while using it), use the perk and look around. Because of the range, if you're near the middle of the map you'll often see the hatch right away. If not, pick up the key, move somewhere else, and try again. Don't use the perk more than you have to as it's limited to 10 seconds of use per cleansed totem, and can only hold one totem's charge at a time.

If other survivors die (which will likely happen no matter what, unless you're in a really good SWF), Sole Survivor will hide your aura from the killer (except Killer Instinct, so Legion trials are generally moot and PH/Nemesis/Wesker can be a pain if you're not careful) within 24 meters of the killer for every other survivor killed (at three dead it's 72 meters of aura blocking, which is about half of a large map). It also increases the speed of opening the exits and hatch by 50% (if you're the last one alive). It also increases the speed of repairing gens by 75% (again, if you're the last one alive), so if the killer camps the hatch you can 99% every remaining gen in the trial, start popping them randomly until all the needed gens are done, and the killer will have to close the hatch and start patrolling the exit gates to try to stop you. Meanwhile, you head for the hatch with the key and you're done.

You can bring a hatch offering so you know where it'll spawn (and so will the killer), which will speed up the process. If you're doing the trial with a friend, one can bring the hatch offering and the other can bring a chest offering to give you more shots at getting a key.

The nice thing about doing it this way is you don't have to farm keys from the bloodweb, bring them into a lobby to make you a target, don't have to worry so much about losing keys/farming addons to keep keys on death since you're likely to get at least one each trial, and really you don't need any hatch/chest offerings as although they help they aren't required. You also don't have to rush and potentially reveal yourself at the end, because you want the killer to find and close the hatch, then go look for you at the exits. Take it slow since you have a few minutes to reach the hatch after the killer closes it.

I appreciate your effort, i alredy own all those perks. I use Pillagers and Appraisal for chest opening challenges alredy. But then im not out for surviving neccessarly, ima do my best and dont prioritize a chest over a gen ofc but with those perks, paired with coin offerings its easy money.

however, i need windows and lithe to kinda cover me, lithe can switch places though, but windows is like a must. I have maps where i have memorized the pallets and vaults only to find out pallets are alredy gone where i expected them. And then there is maps where i have no clue about the locations, so i have only 3 perk slots.

And its not like that im the best at looping, i would need to play highly immersed, more so than when i run a gen build. Which also could lead to much frustration and boredom because if all the effort just not is enough for rng or skill sake then yeah.. I figured the 30k are really not worth the hoops.

    @Akumakaji said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/354973/open-hatch-with-a-key-2-times-challenge

The trick to this challenge is to open the hatch two times in the same trial. Its quite easy, actually: locate the hatch with Left Behind, hide in a bush, wait for the killer to close the hatch, then quickly open it when the killer goes to th exit gates. Afterwards hide again in a different bush and wait. The EGC timer will be paused and the confused killer has to close the hatch again. Then jump out, open and escape. Easy as pie.

Sounds a little bit too easy on paper not gonna lie XD however i think i did not have a single 1 killer game since i started in april this year, where someone actually used a key for escaping through hatch. So it surely might be unexpected. IF i have nothing else left more, when doing it, doing it in the same trial is a good idea however, so thanks for the advice ^^

I am a completionist who has completed/100%-ed some of the most challenging and/or time intensive games out there in which to do so), so this actually pains me, but there are certain games that evolve in such a way as to make "100%-ing" them too much an exercise in frustration, and just make the endeavor miserable rather than challenging. DBD is one of those. I prefer my challenges to be defined by skill rather than skill plus a bunch of other random factors.

I used to not be satisfied with less than full completion of any game, but as you get older and begin to realize what a finite quantity time is, you start to choose which completionist hills to die on.

i think there was only 1 game where i was completionist about, it was assassins creed. The first one, collecting all the flags was pain enough so i never set myself up to 100% any other game from that on. Also i was in school back then, besides it being an 18+ game. I had much time so to say.

As for an explanation, my friends live in germany, i live currently at least in switzerland. One day they saw 100% killer bonus while i had 100% survivor bonus on my screen..

AND ITS NOT LIKE THOSE 2 COUNTRYS HAVE A WHOLE OCEAN between them!

  • @HugTheHag said:

There are plenty of very nice people in this community, they're just... less vocal, I guess.

Plus when you're not facing a SWF, survivors you killed early don't tend to linger in the game, so the person you're talking to is often the person who was the last to die, and who was the most invested in their possible escape, making them maybe a bit saltier. I think first dead and last dead are the most salty survivors get.

    That being said !

A lot of DbD is about attitude as well. Survivors won't be endeared to you if you use "scummy" tactics like tunneling early in the game or slugging for the 4K, or if you show poor behaviour (all of which I don't assume you do, I'm just saying that's one thing). I tend to try and chat with killer and congratulate them on their win whatever I play survivor, but I won't bother to if they were not playing fair throughout the game.

One thing I've noticed is that people will tend to be more chatty if you show them you're not gonna be salty or gloating. I end most of my killer games by leaving a few words in the endgame chat, not an impersonal "gg", but generally complimenting the team's best looper, or something they did well during the game. Now that they know I won't "ggez" them or throw insults their way, they're usually very open to chat a bit and wish everyone good luck next. =)

great! and what do you do as a survivor to play "fair" towards killers?

  • Thats why you dont care for what survivors say to you at all, just do what you wanna do and let them rage around.

Slugging and protecting the hook are core parts of the game, I doubt they will just allow Survivors a free escape from being captured.

i feel like the wish from one side for this to become basekit is that big, it gets spread as the only truth.

kinda sick of reading all those celebrations about UB basekit when it didnt even got confirmed yet. Sounds like doomsday to me. remember 12.12.2012? We all survived somehow XD

Yeah, and this sort of thing is why I have no ambition to complete all the tomes. There are several (particularly old ones) that I have just laughed off as not worth it, predicated on outdated mechanics, or would require me to throw so egregiously I can't being myself to do it.

Now imagine how a completionist has to struggle. I aint one, but just imagine 😨

    Hear me out pls.

I know that tunneling is #########, especially hard tunneling and I try to avoid it as killer whenever possible cause I want everyone to have fun. But I also want to win and I'm not okay with just throwing my chances of winning away for no reason. So when I went to RPD there was a kate that I downed after a chase. When she got unhooked I went back to the hook and everyone brought themselves into position already.

The Jane who has shown me that she has balanced landing was standing on the balcony overlooking the entrance hall.

The quentin with lithe was standing next to the office loop ready to vault.

And the meg with sprint burst was camping the god pallett.

Just the previously hooked kate was sitting in the dead zone in the entrance and healing herself up. So ofc I went for her. And ofc I got the typical "OMG filthy tunneler" complaints afterwards. But in this case I feel like tunneling was justified. If u dont want ur teammate to be tunneled at least try to make it more attractive to be chased by the killer. Not do it like these 3 and stand with ur exhaustion perks next to beginning god loops and basically go "but now u have to chase me or ur a tunneler".

PS: this is not a threat against tunneling in general.I know hard tunneling exists and is unfun and a problem. I just want to point out that there are situations where I think tunneling is totally justified.

Tunneling is an ingame strategy. Its not an exploit, nor is it a cheat. so basicly its justified EVERYTIME.

  • So this is the only key hatch challenge there is? Reading all this post it makes it look like it should be rather an achievement than some 30k reward challenge. Which doesnt even give lore.

I am very happy i got that challenge prior to the hatch rework, because some of the modern challenges in the recent tomes STILL require you to either get lucky or throw the game just to get them, i can only imagine the kind of pain new players will go through to complete some of these older challenges

personally i just avoid them. I concern for bloodpoints the most, second is story elements but only if the master challenges are doable to me.

And while im at it, with so many unfinished tomes i start to get the charms first with one route and then nitpick around them once if done 1 straight round. If i have nothing but pain challenges left in said tome, i start the next one. And currently im anyways wating for lvl 4 of recent tome to get unlocked.

You must be in a decent MMR bracket to have decent teammats that dont just kill themselves on hook everygame

on survivor i think its mild yes XD cause whenever i play with my friends swf the killers suddendly get harder than what im used to going against.

sometimes.. Sometimes im just the first one being dead because noone does gens and im the only one doing so, while also not a pro at looping.

  • Totally!

Side note: i started april 2022, but i think its even more enjoyable nowdays, according to some very old content from dbd i have seen on my favorite youtubers channels

Find an altrusitic swf to help you and sacrifice themselves lol

    lmao heres hoping XD

but ima just avoid that challenge i think. By the day i have none other left i can try, which will be likely never.

That old challenge is really difficult to do with today's hatch.

You will need to be ready to throw several games and lose a couple of keys in the process.

and all of it for 30k. Thats like 2 casual rounds as survivor. 3 if it goes extremely bad.

1 … 6 7 8 9 10 … 14
