Well, you can’t really track it but yeah, I have seen people say they have been banned/temp banned for this.
also, they have stated they will change the system in 2023 so that you get some kind of feedback on your reports I think
i hope for it, cause right now i really dont know if it does anything. I have seen people state they been penaltyed for "bad internet" but even when harassment is the easyer topic to get people banned for then players still need to do too much work imo for other reports. Like actually having video evidence, now many dbd players are also streamers. Alright. But imagine if it wasnt like that, why would people record their games all the time if they dont upload them?

Their report system only tracks the pre and post game chat and puts a flag on the player you're reporting so that when you open a ticket and they ask you "did you report the player in game?" you can say YES and they can check their ID. Anything that happens in the match needs video evidence as they have no way of seeing it by themselves for some reason.
so for harassment you also need a ticket?

Thank you all for your answers ^^

as ive mentioned in another post, i feel like we're in the stage of the game where the community might benefit from a split between casual and competitive dead by daylight. i theorize that by applying MMR to both versions, at least it encourages one group to participate in another. competitive can also give the incentive of competitive awards, whereas casual pubs are just for those who are looking for bloodpoints or things like that. ideally this could introduce the concept of match types as well!
i see this idea quite alot. And i cant really follow it, because im always asking myself: "what does stop sweatheads (or trolls) to que up on casual and stomp people that dont feel like sweating?" Or maybe it could be an automated thing, out of players control but for an AI to learn to differ between Casual and Sweaty players is not that easy. 4k doesnt neccessarly mean the killer did sweat for it, especcially when they didnt reach the softcap yet.
And an escape also doesnt mean neccessarly sweating if it was an AFK bot or just someone farming. So an AI couldnt do it either.

For in-Game chat harassment you don’t need to file an extra support ticket nor provide any evidence as the in-game report will just save the chat log
for pretty much anything else video evidence is needed, yeah.
are you so sure about the ingame chat harassement? Because i dont ever feel like clicking the report button does anything in that case but how would i know since you dont got informed if anything happened.
-
yeah i never report, as im not a streamer and apperantly you need video efidence for everything, basicly do the research work for them. I can sing high tones of BHVR, the report system aint one of them though, it feels highly unprofessional and at most its super time intensive to report someone.
Ticket, video efidence, profile ID AND ingame report. Too much effort.

if only one keeps the OG music it would make sense to be for trapper. He is the DBD icon at least.

When the challenge says "complete in 1 trial" it means that you can do it in multiple chases. The challenge will specify it if you need to do it in the same chase.

i really don't blame killers right who tunnel and camp, tbh when i play survivor, gens literally fly while the killer is playing nicely, hell if i play nicely myself the gens fly im forced into tunneling tbh, just get a Claudette telling me im "holy bad" while they tried hiding while injured
at least i had a wholesome round just the last one. It was a highly altruistic group which kept feeding me hooks, i hear footsteps behind me seconds after i hooked someone. So i turn around and swing. but instead of a swing its a grab off of a pink glyph because it was right behind me.
i expected so mutch to be flamed for it but nah, he was enjoying himself in the endgame chat how he escaped. Not toxic like, he was "wow cant believe i actually made that!" cause he was the only one that didnt let me cut his angles of. I complimented him and even said if i wouldnt had a challenge myself i would have let him have the glyph. Even i do have a "nice" mindset sometimes, cause i actually felt a little sorry for him. Maybe due to the positive vibes he gave during EGC.
but its on the players own to decide wether or not to hold back. Its not like i never play meme-ish or a bit more casual. Its just rare because i mostly care about my challenges getting completed.

What if there are no runners? don't forget that there is a soloq in the game and the normal balance was in 2016-2018 years.
i am mostly do play soloQ when playing survivor. If noone of the team cant loop well then obvously it will be a short match. However stealth can still save your bacon, its just more difficult then. You said stealth is completely gone, it is not.
-
@zumer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/354269/so-i-do-tunnel-and-camp-or-play-fairly
Maybe because the bhvr loves the killers. Everything that has been done since 2018 for them. There is no fog, maps are bright, the pallets are not safe and there are fewer of them. Removed all tactics except genrush for survivors. Stealth doesn't work. The game is made for killers.
As someone who cant loop well, let me tell you, my best rounds are the ones where im the stealthy gen repairing ninja. It totally works if you have confident runners to hold the killer off you. And often i hide at places and evade killers where they dont expect me.
-
Why not treat it just like a game?
Camp and tunnel if you need to, dont care what others say.
BUT!
As an exchange you cannot flame killers when you yourself got camped or tunneled either. Thats how i do.
I totally stand against telling people how they should play, so see this just as an advice. Because what i think really is toxic is trying to make people feel bad or blame them for your own faults. Obviously to get camped and tunneled you need to get caught in the first place. So if they are able to be tunneled its kinda their own fault.
-
Its not even that big of an ramble honestly ;) Imho!
I think i provide a good example how many diffrent people get attracted to this game. Im not a horror "hater" i just dont like jumpscares. I like action movies, i like gore and splatter. (which kinda does satisfy that primal instinct of "fight" i guess? Like for some reason ancient civilizations had arenas with payed or well... enslaved fighters. Or for some reason any form of Boxing is a thing.) But jumpscares? Bro, i hate them, like reaaaally not my thing. My whole body got heated up when i was leveling up Sadako to P3 because of her menu screen jumpscare, its just not for me.
But i have seen Dead by daylight content by various youtubers before playing, most of it from a german comedian who did start the whole streaming thing during the corona epidemic when comedians couldnt tour anymore. Ofc the "horror" aspect was overshadowed by the comedic nature of him and his colleague who also played the game. Only thing that kept me away was the though of "well there will be so many stronger people by now, i probably will have a rough start, this game is alredy so many years out.) The final blow was a friend of mine, cause i saw him playing DBD trhough steam notifications and i asked him a little about it. He ensured me the horror aspect wouldnt last long and he also told me about how there is actually a softcap and that i would probably have a huge advantage alredy knowing what to do.
So i started, and totally became HOOKED!
Like my comments here might it seem as if im very sour over things but thats just according to the issiue with the playerbase/community itself. The game as it be though? The ongoing live service it is under, devs actually working very hard? I started 6 week after sadako was released and since then i have seen the big perk rework, QoL improvements, 3 new killers, 2 very fun ingame events. I think this is one big reason for people keep playing it, like there is ongoing content, so it never gets stale. But by the amount of content you have alredy, like every match is a surprise factor at first.
I couldnt even name what it actually is that i enjoy so much about DBD, i do like to play killer a bit more but also playing survivor is satisfying to me. Sure i can get salty sometimes when it doesnt go as to what i expected, or when i feel like i cant do single things in one trial, you just have those. However i choose to never be toxic in chat, maybe i need to have a break. But then i always come back after i had some food or so, or maybe i call it for said thay and try it the next evening. The bots joining in the future are also something im looking very forward to.
And there is no harsh winning conditions, which is also a big + to me. Like if it goes bad you made not many bloodpoints. Like that is litteraly the worst that can happen to you. (aside from cheaters but those exist in other games aswell). So when "i gained not many bloodpoints in this match" is worst thing possible, you know the game is chill. The community somehow isnt, but personally i dont engage too much with them aside from trying to counter argue some things i believe shouldnt be.
Then the art and creativity as you alredy said, DBD killers are unique, doing challenges and listening to the tome lore audio files is actually very nice too. I just wish it wasnt master challenges, like the lore shouldnt be only accsessable behind some very hard stuff. But improvements can always be made, BHVR does do their work, they try and they care. There is game developer companies out there that dont, where you could litteraly wait half a year just for some major bugfixes. (and we are talking about game breaking bugs at that.) but without content. And this particular scenario is from one of the biggest out there.
So my conclusion is, Dead by daylight is under good guidance from BHVR, after all its their main project, their core product. You really can see that. It suffers from a bad community but as i said your not forced to engage that much. And once or twice there are actually cool people, like if found a few i actually do play with them sometimes, even though i usually like to stick to myself.

Thank you :") i felt real awful after because one of the teammates who gave up told me they were a swf and that what i did 'ruined the dbe vibe' for them :(
they only try to make you feel bad, which is highly toxic. They dont want you to be happy about your win because they are very bad at loosing. You can be sure the next killer they go against would face brand new parts, bodyblocks, maybe even some sabo plays. All of which is fine. But then they cant be entitled to have a "fair" killer player you know?
so dont worry ;) Its the nature of a PVP game that your opposing player might not feel to happy with how the game goes, just as you will have rounds yourself that will taste bad to you. Diffrence between good sportsmanship and bad one is if i am going to blame the other player for my mistakes or if im just moving on.
I got tunneled yesterday by a demogorgon, because appearantly i was the weak link and maybe also i got hook farmed, but i felt like that round in particular i just did very bad. And he took FULL advantage of it. I shouted, yes i did. I was mad like hell and super salty XD but i didnt write anything to them, instead i choose to take a short break, eat something and then after cooldown try again. The next rounds alredy were better.
-
If someone says "x killer is OP" just respond with "x survivor is OP too" . Thats about the same logic. I cant help a dime playing nurse or land shots with Deathslinger, but when im playing freddy noone is safe. And if it is Gideon map its alredy a win. Because gideon has so many pallets? no ofc not. But because i know that map as if it was my home. (which also means i dont need aura perks i know where survivors are all the time, which too means alredy BIG advantage) I could walk it in my sleep and with fake pallets paired it becomes hell for survivors, WHILE im playing my main killer on top of that too.
Ofc generally some killers have better mechanics than others, but practice is all it takes to get good with one, so yeah. "OP" is over generalized.
-
You did nothing wrong, you wanted that 4k and you got it. You dont need to justify it even. Looping, getting stunned and having your hook bodyblocked isnt fun for the killer either, yet survivors do it all the time.
Basic rule is: as long as you dont cheat, its viable. ANYTHING. "Slugging", "genrushing", "tunneling", bodyblocking etc. Both sides have playstyles that taste bad for the other side and yet they are viable strats. People need to finally learn to just take the L and move on into the next round. What really should be bannable is trying to shame people for the way they play.
-
The killer can play how they want, if one dced and they let 1 go its only a 2k. If anything dcing increases the need to secure "all" kills if they want. For some challenge or maybe just want points.
noone is forced to play how YOU want. Stop trying to gaslight playstyles and rather be mad at the one that dc'ed.
-
I havent played online on the PTB, been only testing out with bots so i dont know about the knight at all. But as for the others read them from left to right. Im a trickster simp, possibly the only killer that wil NEVER get me salty when he beats me 😏 And since i cant play demo myself its fun to be able to go against him. I absolutly LOVE playing Plague, however i hate going against her, thats why she made it to "least hated". Bubba is atleast "only" annoying to me because of the sound and appearence, while i absolutly despise the gameplay of the other 3, worst of the worst being myers.
I dont hate on huntress because i know how much practice and skill it means to land good shots, however, i see her so often when playing survivor i really kinda am worn out of her and also kinda dont like the lullaby anymore. Nurse is Hold W, i can do that. And the biggest collection well, those are basicly killers i hardly go up against, always exciting to see someone else for a change. Freddy being at the top because he is my main killer, but i got like 5 freddy games as a survivor in my time playing so, the light greens are just hardly measured from the games i actually had against them, which also is kinda player dependant. I generally just like to see them ^^

@Sava18 said:
Yeah no, I will play this game even less if it's removed. The most fun I have ever had is a swf trying there hardest to get everyone out and me slugging all of them for the 4k during egc. I have never had a single person complain about it even once, most of the time it's a gg. Although those situations are rare, and half the time they can happen people just leave.
Durin the anniversary event, very early on, i was playing plague on lerys, i was bringing a flan and even had some "get x hooks" challenge or "chase survivors x seconds" i dont quite remember.
But they just ran up on me when i was carrying my first down to one of the corner hooks, where a vault was but nothing else. They should also have seen the cursed fountain litteraly in the room next to it, but during the attempt for bodyblocks i alredy got some hits in, so they were all injured.
They didnt run away, spread and heal up. (well i understand the concept of not bother healing when its plague but they couldve at least like.. spread out XD or have 1 to do gens.)
But no, they all just kept proxy remaining in the area, thinking they could lure me into a long chase when i litteraly heard others moaning. No way i was gonna leave hook. Once i downed my next it was just exchanging hooks at that point, and when i could hit my final blow i used the fountain near and downed the remaining 2 with 1 puke. I got amazing 12k bloodpoints and they got 3 or 6. So it really was a waste of flans.
Which they ofc knew to blame me for like "why bother bringing a flan if you are going to slugg anyway." And i was a bit baffled about the blatant denial of their own mistakes so i answered something along the lines "well i didnt expect you all to go down so fast, otherwise i wouldnt have brought a flan."
ofc they didnt like that either. But that was just my most honest answer XD
-
I had a simmilar thread a few day ago where i had the exact same issiue with a diffrent challenge. The answer from multiple users here was that it is a common bug right now.
its very irritating but its not only one challenge, its all of em. Like rn the challenges somehow never count more progress than 3 each trial. So yeah. Its nasty but it is what it is right now.
-
"slugging" like "tunneling" are made up words. They were born within the DBD community. Honestly, as long as you dont cheat you are fine. Its a game, its not like there "nasty" mechanics in other games that might be unfun for the opposing player. Its a PVP, ofc the opponent wont like it too much if you take advantages of their mistakes or just simply of their lack of skill, like tunneling out the weak link as it happened to me today (i lack the skill of looping as a survivor, so obviously the demogorgon kept chasing me.)
Or another example, they try to deny your very first hook, swarm around you and have all the nice things, head on, wild horse, flashlights etc. They try to bodyblock but they messed up because it is lerys with small corridors and you have starstruck with you. EZ downs on anyone, 3 man slugg and you still can hook the one. <-- they will totally blame you for that one.
I could go on how especcially slugging is a needed strategy for most killers, or even in some situations, not neccessarly killer dependant. But truth is this community never will get over these ridicilous discussions, so let me break it down to what it actually is. You play to win, you take advantage of something that is within the game. Its allowed. If something is problematic, (REALLY problematic like forever freddy was or infinites are.) then its up to the devs to change that, which they always work on, try to balance things out to their best. Its never the players fault.
And it gets even more ridicilous when you think about the winning condition because its either a case of "much bloodpoints this round" or "not so much this time." Like.. the worst you can get is 3 thousand bloodpoints because you got killed too fast, at least you can join another match and certainly will have a better one than just that.
-
EVERY case of tunneling is warranted as long as it doesnt happen through cheats. 😂
-
sigh
Tunneling doesnt even exist honestly. Its a fancy word, but also a made up one. Like... It litteraly was born from DBD, the word "tunneling". And especcially born from entitled players. (yes, players, not survivors. Because often enough the ones trying to get you follow their "code" are the ones that will play in the nastyest way possible themselves, on both sides. I have figured.) So you did nothing wrong, play how you want. As long as you enjoy the game and dont do it by cheating, you have 100% done what the meaning of a game is.
Dont care too much for what others say. They will find stuff to complain at anyway, everything is an issiue BUT their own mistakes. You know?
And im honestly getting tired of the whole concept of "them vs us" not to mention tunneling, camping, slugging, genrushing, all that nonesense. Its best to just mind your own buisness and try to not let them get under your skin, again, nothing you did wrong there so dont worry.

thanks so much for the clear up :D I sadly dont have prime gaming but at least i know now ^^

Short answer, see Mr_K reply.
Long answer: diffrent playstyles matching each other.
FIRST: You have the casual gamer, that just wants to have fun with the game but gets blamed for stuff they didnt even do in order to be any form of toxic but because there is some "rules" people think you should follow it puts yourself up for some targeting. While the real reason is loosing doesnt feel nice and thus needs to be blamed on anything but themselves.
Further, said casual player has 2 types. First, the lucky one, will just shrugg it off, or even play by those rules and think nothing to it. This player doesnt need a win, they enjoy the game for what it is and probably we all could learn from them. The second type is the one getting bitter over it and starting to do those things on purpose, even if it does bite them in the back when they do some gameplay decicions without strategy, they will get more frustrated and either become sweaty player (which i will adress in a minute) or not be able to adapt to a higher level and will either quit the game soon or change sides, just to see it is just as hard on that side.
SECOND: the sweaty player. These players want to DOMINATE! they want to beat you, want to be better than you. Casual players hate them. They are the ones teabagging or hard camping at the start of the trial, they will close hatch in front of your face or wait to jump in it until you arrived at the hatch, they dont want to win the match, they want to BEAT YOU. They were either casual players that had to endure to much trashtalking or they are just very competetive to start with and want their opponents to show their best.
THIRD: The hardliner. They only play one side either killer or survivor. They NEVER switch. Ofc everything is unfair for their side and they fall under the classic entitlement, but a casual wanting to just not have to sweat or a sweaty player that wants some challenge you can call those entitled too.
So many people having diffrent values. Pair that with lack of self control and you get these venting posts you see in the forums left and right. Suggestions about things what could be done better are fair and neccessary, but the tribalism and hardcore debates about it is just with anything polarization and diffrent views, i dont think BHVR could change anything to make it less, there is not that one formula that solves the problem you are mentioning. Ofc "x too strong and x broken" serves the narratives as pleased, but the real constructive posts are in the feedback section mostly.
Me? im a mixture of sweaty casual. I dont need a 4k every match, i dont care for escapes because that is something im simply not good at, i play more killer than survivor, so maybe im a little biased towards killer side in general. What really gets me heated is when i cant do my challenges because everything rng works against me and because i simply dont even get a chance.
Example: unhook 3 survivors as Leon daylie + open 6 chests challenge. Both super easy to do things, i dont care for escape, i just do the best i can and be happy when i make much points, i play good, but im not a pro. But somehow my mind gets stuck in "oh what?!?! I cant save now because they are camping!!" or "MAN why am I the one getting attacked first from that wesker that had lethal pursuer???? I JUST need 6 chests man!" I actually cursed at my pc when i got hooked first like i cant even do the most basic stuff, forgetting i dont have to rush my challenges, i can have 1 or 2 chests opened in one round and then some in another, the challenge and daylie will get done anyway. And i had it both in 2 rounds, still i got mad for getting picked first.
I couldve choosen to rant about camping but i did just not and instead quit the game, deciding it would be better to play during more casual times. I decided for the second option.

For players that were inexperienced with the flashlight saves, it was a straight buff as I doubt they are going for locker saves. For players that have a handle on flashlights, its a straight nerf. In my opinion, they could keep lockersaves in the game but grant the killer a short blind immunity whenever they are blinded. Maybe 5-10 seconds. This could still prevent duos from using double lockers to grant themselves invincibility on a technicality.
and what is wrong with having it easyer accssable for newer players?

Thats true, but you can easily do it via farming. Not gonna lie, if I had to do it the regular way, the honest way, this would be a no-no for me and basically impossible to do, but as things stand I finished From the Void She Kills on my first try; turned out that survivors would gladly farm with a Nurse, instead of versing her :P If they had known how bad my Nurse game is they might have reconsidered, but I didn't object :P
ye farming is for some challenges really the only possible way XD I had a simillar experience just yesterday, however, a more skillfull player wouldve gotten it with ease. Its one of the older tomes, but a regular challenge, basicly "blind the killer 1 time or "burn" him" like the burn mechanic from wraith and nurse. However, im very inexperienced with flashlights and the timing for saves, well. I dont play enough survivor in order to get good at flashlight saves, hence why i decided to just try to do it the cheap way, blinding the killer when he breaks the pallet and crossing fingers he doesnt have lightborn.
I was really about just trying and playing, not trying to get the killer to farm pallets with me, but then a dwight in my team cheated (teleporting around) after a over altruistic 2-man swf got sacrificed early on. I decided to try to farm with the wesker because i wasnt going to take advantage of cheating, it litteraly drowned my own spirit to play aswell, even though this time i wasnt in the killers boots.
So i still got the challenge done and wesker and me had a chat about reporting that guy, which we did. He even had recorded the match, sadly i didnt as he teleported right at me but still, we both made sure to get them possibly banned. It was a win win, wesker had mutch points and i had my challenge, so you can say that was the first time something positive was coming out of someone cheating XD
-
I think its a good deal having the locker tech removed in exchange for more forgiving flashlight saves.

Did someone maybe had the perk leader or something?
And what perks were you running?
now Leader was definitly in there! i had it appear next to the debuff icon from dying light. It was a diffrent person than the one who was healing me with "for the people" though. So obsession might have switched around without me noticing, was to busy unhooking because myers kept downing people left and right.
I myself ran nothing that wouldve interfered with the obsession mechanic or dying light. It was Lithe, Lucky break, the other perk from yui that lets you resett pallets and windows of opportunity.

I've had daily challenges that match archive challenges - will get full count for daily but only partial for archive. Like the "be chased by killer for x seconds" - both archive and daily will have same amount of time required to complete, I'll start both at same time, will complete daily but the archive will still require some time. This also just happened to my swf teammate so now I know it wasn't just a me problem. 😂
There's definitely something wrong with the coding in archive challenges where they aren't progressing correctly - makes the "complete in single trial" challenges extra miserable.
oh that reminds me where i also had a situation with challenges that was "x amount seconds" in the archive and daylie at the same time, and it was like 5 or so seconds diffrence all though it was my first ever round. I think one was hunt survivors x seconds and the other was "do that but as ghostface" or something, i dont quite remember. and the seconds were litteraly like 5 diffrence or so.

I don’t think that’s accurate. A few survivors in a group of 4 that are good doesn’t mean a comp squad.
im pretty sure when im talking about comp squads i dont mean just 4 people playing the game and vibing on discord. Then i mean. "comp squads" because i said it like that, you know?
The 1 out of 10 example was an exxageration, but a try to picture MMR is just as bad for the killer side too. Thats why i play both sides so i dont get in this sort of narrative the OP is practicing here.

yeah like your soloQ group is one out of 10 a killer that alredy reached the softcap faces, the other nine are comp squads.

Deathslinger. It doesn't matter what game I'm playing; I'm pants with any ranged weapon unless it's spray-n-pay. My aim is trash and I'm the kind of person who tends to sit in iron sights for 20 seconds before I feel confident enough to shoot. Obviously that doesn't work here, and Slinger has tiny hitboxes on top of that, so... yeah. No murder cowboy for me.
my aim is also very bad, trickster is the one im somewhat confident with, had a slinger challenge lately and got coldwind as a map, i think i had some rng in the survivors i got that round, like not an swf and not super pro loopers. Paired with basic pathing and map knowledge i built up since playing this game, it was actually a super fun game! but i normally need a few rounds with him and huntress too, for understanding the hitboxes again.

i dont get the fuss about it aswell, Fogwise is the one perk that can be great for skilled soloQ players without being a immensive buff to SWF. like the devs litteraly found something that does specificly help soloQ which maybe we all agree on no matter if killer or survivor main, is the one part of this community that is in the "weakest" spot.
I have more issiues with the gen speed perks.

actually nurse. Maybe once the bots are in the live version of the game i will give her a try, but honestly, im playing so many killers i dont think i can have the patience and time needed to learn nurse, maybe its not as bad as i think but i certainly will not try in online lobbys.

I know, I use them as a handmade Bond, but still, my experience with random players in solo Q was always an immersive selfish playstyle
ok if you say so

They do this in Korea, too, but Hak Ji-Woon and Lee Yun-Jin are still called Ji-Woon Hak and Yun-Jin Lee. That's an odd inconsistency I never noticed before.
Oh well, I'll just chalk it up to golden child Feng Min getting special treatment as usual. It's less of a headache that way.
i think its the same reason why it doesnt say "min feng" because it just sounds better that way. To westerners at least i think.

Said inhumane sack of crap that the Doctor is based off of is still allowed to practice medicine legally as far as i am aware by the way
im pretty sure the real one is behind barrs nowdays. If still alive in 2022, he was an old man anyway.
