And if it does Auto-start once Amanda interacts with the downed Survivor?
Let's say it auto-starts when they are hooked to give slugged Survivors a chance to maybe crawl away.

And, what if Survivors were not allowed to search Jigsaw Boxes until their Game, actually starts? Could mask the Symbols until the Game starts as well.
Delaying the Pig's stall and forcing them to work on gens is a bad idea. That's why RSN2 is not a good add-on IMO. You'd have to pretty much make the timer auto-start to light enough of a fire under the Survivor to get them to move.

RBT death timers can always be tweaked. I'd probably reduce the Death timer by about 12s if this were to happen, about the time taken to search a Jigsaw box.
I don't think that would stop good players from searching one box and then ignoring the trap until the timer starts, which hurts the effectiveness of the trap badly IMO.

Is that because the time it takes to search three boxes isn't what you would consider significant enough of a time investment? Are you more concerned about the reduced time wasted, or that there is one fewer box to search? Or that this effectively reduces the likelihood of the RBT death timer being a significant enough of a "threat" given the overall reduced potential of wasted time? This can be addressed by tweaking timers.
Are Boxes, or is time consumed, the thing you're more concerned about?
"Or that this effectively reduces the likelihood of the RBT death timer being a significant enough of a "threat" given the overall reduced potential of wasted time?"

How about a Memory game?
- All Jigsaw Boxes display their own Symbol at all times.
- Searching a Jigsaw Box will display two Symbols: The Symbol of the Jigsaw Box containing your Key, and another random Box Symbol.
- The first Jigsaw Box Searched will never contain your Key. (?)
To note:
- It is possible for multiple Keys to be "seeded" to the same Jigsaw Box.
- The order in which the two Symbols are displayed after searching your Jigsaw Box is random
- The Symbols are randomized on the Client's side, no callouts.
I will never be in favor of any change that effectively guarantees that it will never take more than three boxes to take off a Reverse Bear Trap. :P
-
Nerfing the Reverse Bear Trap's lethality. Well, maybe it wouldn't get me to STOP per se, but that would come the closest to making that happen.

You said the Killers were inherently bad. Many people think Trapper is unplayable, certainly not S tier yet, a skilled player can win with him.
Gimpyfish winning with Bowser in Melee does not mean Bowser in Melee is good. Otz winning with Trapper in DBD does not mean Trapper is good.
-
I've no idea if this is good, but here is what I came up with:
1) Can grapple onto any hook with the gun to traverse quickly. The line breaks if he gets stuck on something.
2) 115% base speed.
3) Whenever he fires his gun, his movement speed reduces down to 105% for a period of time. The longer you aim down the sight before firing, the shorter the speed reduction lasts. The slowdown time is paused while he reloads and resets if he fires again before the timer expires. In addition, possibly also making his aim shaky as well while in this pseudo-cooldown period.

Respectfully disagree (though honestly I'm not even sure if OP is being sincere or not).

Yes, in a casual game. Also, from what I am reading, Apex Legends does have a disconnect penalty.

Yeah, I'll agree with that.
Still, a killer can't prevent gens being done between multiple survivors though, unless it's one with ridiculously high mobility like Nurse or something.
They don't have to necessarily make gens impossible to progress to count as hostage holding. They simply have to be slowing down the gens enough that the game is drawn out to an absurd time length because they also are intentionally making no effort to kill the Survivors (similar to how Survivors don't need to be able to hide forever; they only need to hide long enough that the game is drawn out to an absurd length because they intentionally are making no effort to finish the gens).

If you take the literal POV that the killer's role is to kill the survivors, then what is the time-scale within which they must do this? Until the gens are completed and doors open, right?
So for the killer to reach their objective, they have to slow down the gens in some manner. Hence there's a multitude of perks to allow them to do exactly that.
I've no idea what you were trying to get at because you really didn't change the point at all. It's part of the killer's role to slow the gens down. The survivors cannot do it; they can abstain from completing gens entirely, but they can't actively slow them!
Here's the thing, though: The Killer does not end the game by slowing down gens. The Killer ends the game by killing Survivors. Slowing down the gen progression is a means to an end. If the Killer is not killing Survivors, then the Killer is not actively progressing the game. Preventing the Survivors from progressing the game is fine AS LONG AS the Killer is actively progressing the game. If the Killer is intentionally NOT progressing the game AND intentionally preventing the Survivors from progressing the game, the Killer is not fulfilling their role.

Coincidence ? :)
Touche. That said, the fact that multiple other games in the asymmettical Survival Horror genre existed without getting stamped out by a C&D or anything like that shows to me that the lack of meaningful competition isn't due to BHVR trying to legal away the competiton.

Amanda's Secret is a better Jill's Sandwich. It removes your ability to see the Jigsaw Boxes, but grants you a notification of when a Survivor takes the bear trap off and lets you see their aura.
Jill's Sandwich just lets you see the aura of a Survivor when they open a crate, which is purely up to chance on if you'll even see it.
Field Combat Manual, meanwhile, just highlights a Zombie when it hits a Survivor. When it hits a Survivor.
When it does one of the rarest things that can happen in this game.
Amanda's Secret is not a better Jill's sandwich. Amanda's Secret is, in my opinion, a contender for weakest Killer add-on in the game (excluding the add-ons that deliberately nerf a Killer in exchange for bloodpoints). Losing the Jigsaw Box auras is HUGE and not worth the six seconds of aura searching you get four-five times during the match at periods that you have no control over.

It's not hostage holding
There are 2 survivors.
When the killer is constantly picking the op up and dropping him again the other survivor can either do gens or is bleeding out.
In the 3 gen the op stated it would take like 2 minutes for the gates to be opened at which point EGC starts
If the other is getting slugged then the hatch spawns after 4 minutes and op can either escape with hatch cause after the 4th drop he returns to injured state or the killer closes the hatch and EGC starts
With survivors sneaking around you can atleast make the argument that the killer is just unable to find them making the game unable to be ended
With old doc the survivors could litterally not do gens making the game unable to end.
The situation op described always reaches an end and it will be 10-15 minutes tops
If somebody reads this threat and comes across a killer that is trying to get adept and gets the idea of searching for the last survivor with another on his shoulder to give them as much time to find the last survivor. Should that killer then also be reported and punished for holding the game hostage.
Cause it won't take a lot of effort for a frustrated player to see this as the same situation
Here's the thing: In a three-gen situation, the Killer can easily keep tabs on the areas surrounding the gens, so it's not like "the other Survivor has free reign to do whatever they want while the Killer is picking up and dropping." Can progress be made here and there? Sure. Can the Survivors EVENTUALLY finish things up and move the game on? Sure. Can the game be dragged on way past a reasonable point by just dedicating all the effort to defending a 3-gen and zero effort to actually ending a game, even if eventually the Survivors do eventually succeed? Definitely, especially if there is a noticeable gap in skill between the two sides. It's like how Survivors can drag things out way past a reasonable point by dedicating all their effort to hiding and zero effort to finishing the game, even though eventually the Killer will find someone, hook them, and move the game forward.

Yeah but then they can do gens so it’s not a bannable offence. They’ll either do all the gens or bleed out over time.
The problem is that eventually bleeding out over time does not cut it if the Killer is intentionally extending that time by a lot while also preventing the gens from being done. We already know that "forever" is not the cutoff for what is considered "hostage holding." It only has to be well past a reasonable point.

That quote was made before the rework of the doctor a few years ago.
It does not hold merrit now.
Case is very clear to me. Killer was a jerk and could and should have been reported for grieving.
He was not holding the game hostage and people need to learn what that means to prevent false reports. So the people/automated system soon can actually do their job.
It's because of these kind of things hackers and other problematic players aren't getting dealt with
You are missing the point. The post shows that it IS possible for the Killer to be reported for hostage-holding by refusing to allow the enemy to complete their objective while simultaneously refusing to do your own objective. That very much fits the situation as OP described it (assuming, of course, that OP is being accurate/honest in their description).
Stealing is not murder, but the situation OP described is hostage holding.
-
@El_Gingero said:
Reporting the killer will do nothing as they were not holding the game hostage. You should have just done the gens. If he kicks them, keep doing them. If he hits you, keep doing them. If he downs you, bleed out. There is no possible scenario where this killer was holding the game hostage.
@FrndlyChnswSalzmn said:

All you had to do was do gens or bleed out. It wasn't held hostage; you were just trying to win and failed.
OP also mentioned that the Killer was intentionally making Survivors get back up, which makes bleeding out not a feasible option. That's the big difference in my book.

@Warcrafter4 said:

One: I have flat out said in other comments that the killer needed to be reported for griefing. Not holding the game hostage.
Two: Your doing the same bloody thing defending the survivors who WERE holding the game hostage by never progressing their objective as the other survivor was dealing with the killer. Thus holding the game hostage by refusing to do their objective themselves as the killer can't stop both without killing one.
So if you want to talk down about the forum look at what your doing yourself first.
This game the thread is based off of is a prime example of both sides of that game being in the wrong.
Sorry, but I don't agree with your assessment. And neither do the mods, going by the quote from a mod that was posted here:

I'm amazed how confindently people people defend this position when the Devs have said this about 3-gen Doc:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JKKQV57O8ZKQ/screenshot-20210406-005902.png
If it is not how okay for a Doc to stall the game for a long time I don't see how someone stalling for an hour would be okay.
And about the gen finishing thing: It is hard to judge if the survivors could have played better in this scenario without a video but that shouldn't matter, if the Survs are bad you can kill them easily and in the oppositional situation, where two Survs are hiding you also wouldn't blame the Killer for not finding them even if a more experienced killer or a killer with better perks might have been able to.
Also ChantyBoi, the Mods have said multiple times that it counts as holding the game hostage if the killer blocks one or more Survs in the corner, even if other Survs are still able to finish the gens.

@PlaysByShady said:
"the Killer is refusing to let gens be done" omg, that's exactly the point of the killer's role!!
It's down to the survivors to complete the gens, and there's no way a killer can hold gens hostage from multiple survivors. It takes him a few seconds to kick them, whilst it takes less than a second for the survivor to negate that. The regression is also far slower than survivors adding progress.
Ergo, in the time the killer takes to travel to a gen, kick it, and travel to another, you could be putting progress on at least one of the other two gens. Eventually you'll complete them.
The only way this scenario works is if the survivors literally just walk away from the gens and cry in the corner about why the killer isn't holding their hands and leading them out of the gate.
The point of the Killer's role is to kill the Survivors. Refusing to let gens be done isn't what brings the game to an end.
"and there's no way a killer can hold gens hostage from multiple survivors"
Isn't that the whole point of a 3-gen scenario?
-
@ChantyBoi said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2376736#Comment_2376736
It's not though because the game can still end. If he's being hyper defensive about gens that is not holding the game hostage. There is literally only ONE scenario on killer end that can be considered holding the game hostage and that is bodyblocking all remaining players into a corner/room. That is literally the ONLY point at which a game is held hostage by a killer. Anyone claiming anything else is just being a bit of a salty lad.
That's not necessarily true. If the Killer is refusing to let gens be done but is making no effort to hook anyone (and seemingly actively forcing Survivors to wiggle free), then they are preventing the game from ending. That is hostage-holding.
-
@EldritchElise87 said:
If anything it should have a slightly longer distance but remove iframes. If you couldn't DH into walls and dropped pallets to just phase through a hit it would feel a lot more fair from the killer side, and mean the survivor has to have space in front of them to actually dodge the hit.
I thought the whole thing about Dead Hard was that you can use it for distance to reach the pallet and extend the chase. Isn't your idea sorta leaning in the big thing that a decent number of people complain about?

@GrimoireWeiss said:

Nah, it's easy. Most boxes are located next to generators, so it's not like she couldn't pressure other survivors. Add solo queue into the mix and it's a free win if you use Tampered and Crate of Gears.
Most boxes are next to gens, but that does not mean the Pig is within easy access of most gens. Either she's tunneling the trapped Survivors or she's defending gens. She can't realistically do both simultaneously.
-
@GrimoireWeiss said:
Glad this was your experience. For me Pig is the least enjoyable killer to play against due to the playerbase. Just the day before yesterday I faced TWO in a row using Tampered Timer + Crate of Gears and both had the same playstyle. They'd follow me around in stealth with the trap active, immediately chase me off once I started searching a box and then leave me for another survivor. On the first match I managed to get lucky and got my trap off on my first box, but on the second I couldn't even finish my second search before dying on Midwich.
I wouldn't really mind if Pig got nerfed again tbh, getting outplayed by RNG is disgusting. And Pig players for some reason always resort to this same playstyle (probably why she has a high kill rate).
I can't imagine that the Survivors lost if the Pig was hounding you long enough that you weren't even able to search two boxes.
