It's at that rarity because it's "Very Rare" that you'll ever want to use it. :P
Doesn't seem that bad. You'd never have to patrol the boxes with it since it effectively patrols for you
12m and still halves your stalling potential even with last will. Wraith gets 16m with no downside at a lesser quslity and its not even close to his best addons (Ghost, Windstorm, Swift Hunt and the Clappers are way more benificial as Wraith is a good tracker by default).
Wrong add-on.  I was referring to Amanda's Secret, not Amanda's Letter.
    Oops.

Still needs a buff though, the addon is pathetic.
I see no real reason why Amanda's Letter can't just be the flat aura-reading while crouched with no downsides.  Considering that crouching is slower and a lot less stealthy than Wraith's cloak, I think it would be okay for Amanda to keep her traps and boxes.

DC can be countered by just chasing down the target again. . . Come on people it's not hard, and you even get chase points for it!

Currently DC is a waste of a perk slot because it's a one off single use through away perk.

Once this killer hand-holding nerf goes live it will only turn Survivors onto better perks they should be taking over DC anyway so it'll just focus the Killer /crybaby brigade onto those and inevitably get them nerfed too.

It's all a part of the greater plan of turning dbd into an empty lobby simulator with a screen with big text saying "You Win! - and in small print: "because your a special snowflake"

On the subject of actual toxic stuff that's eating away at the game from within, when's BBQ Cheese getting nerfed again? oh wait it isn't because the special snowflake killer /crybaby brigade would burn down the forum with their tears of napalm I forgot about that one.

get some sense, the only person crying like a baby here is you

Hey if your fine with your game dying because of massive power imbalance that's fine by me.

You are a crybaby yourself, you complain about a crutch perk which only real counter was a borderline exploit and call BBQ out for being OP despite having a ton of counterplay and have the nerve of calling everyone else babies not caring about balance.

Get some sense you hypocritical clown.
Please do not feed the troll.

  • If nothing else, this thread has given me advice regarding how to save a Survivor with a pallette in the super rare occasions I play Survivor.
  • I don't know how the new DS will turn out, but I can at least say that anyone who advocates for the 60-second timer to be removed but seems to be okay with the fact that all four Survivors can use DS together with no penalty probably does not understand why the timer is there.

You might want to upload the video to your own YouTube channel since sometimes the uploads bug out on the support site.

The max length is 16 minutes is edit out any extraneous stuff if it's super long.

Every time I've tried to upload video footage, it's never worked, so I've always had to resort to uploading it to Youtube.

BBQ Cheese is a toxic easy-mode crutch that just saps all the joy from the game. A perfect example of the special snowflake Killer hand-holding epidemic plaguing this game.

Explain it to me then. How is BBQ a toxic easy mode?

Is it the aura reading? No, there are several counters to it. I honestly cannot think of how it can help killers in terms of finding survivors who are smart enough to avoid being seen.

Bonus blood points? The survivor equivalent is We're Gonna Farm Forever but I guess you don't count that as a crutch.

Personally when I use BBQ I either forget I had it to begin with, it never reveals survivors, or I can't reach the survivor in time because I'm not playing Hillbilly or Nurse and outside of Rituals I never will.

This might be asking too much of you, but please for the love of the Entity explain your points on why BBQ is toxic and hand holding. You are relatively known by me to have the worst arguments in all of this forum, so much so I actually believe a legitimate die hard survivor main won't be able to stand you.

Just in case you don't realize it, you're being baited.

There we go. Nurse on PC and Nurse on PS4 are radically different experiences. Nurse (as well as Huntress, to a lesser degree) is a lot more difficult to play well on console than on PC.

  • I think the only ones that really need to be re-worked are Trapper and Wraith's. They both...suck. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Pig's get changed a bit too. Seems a bit unsatisfying.

  • Don't worry, you can always fire up Insidious to beat Borrowed Time, and maybe Enduring can help against Decisive Strike. Just don't be too close to the gates, watch out for body blocks, and you're golden! :P

  • I can't recommend a full build, but Monitor & Abuse is a good option, as it makes his EW1 Terror Radius actual 0 meters and his EW2 Terror Radius only 8 meters.

  • I thought they changed lockers so that the person inside can't read anyone else's auras either.
  • I think it's fair to say that if a crazed killer suddenly gets stabbed by a Survivor, they could become obsessed with killing them.

this change seems like a nerf to every killer obsession perk (except rancor), maxed out your stacks of "save the best for last" and get the obsession dead... and now there is a new obsession

also now every survivor can Dstrike twice

Potentially big buff to Judith's Journal, though. Imagine getting D-striked, tanking most of the stun with Endurance, being able to rapidly build Evil Within with Judith's Journal since that player is now the Obsession, and then finishing them off with Tombstone Piece. If multiple people have Decisive Strike, that's multiple chances to take advantage of the increased stalk speed.

  • To my understanding, that is indeed how it will work.
  • Explain how you loop a Nurse.
  • More like Divisive Strike, mirite

@NuclearBurrito so as a killer I have to give up on the weakest survivor for the time let he keep his DS and start a new chase hoping you can down him/her before the last 2 gens be done ? Nice
It means the counterplay is not tunneling an unhooked Survivor.
And a again a free escape and let him keep it for later
It means you have to make a choice: Either you go after someone else knowing for sure you don't have to worry about D-strike (not even the non-Obsession version where they need to build up X-percentage of wiggle meter), or go after the unhooked person to try and shut them out of the game faster while risking eating a D-strike.

I'm confused about one thing. Every time someone uses DS do they become the obsession? So more than one person could become the obsession or only the first one becomes the obsession? I'm only confused about that thing

Assuming I am understanding it correctly, if someone uses D-Strike, they become the Obsession, and whoever was the Obsession before is no longer the Obsession.
  • I would argue if anything got indirectly buffed, it's Judith's Journal.  It means whoever uses Decisive Strike can now be stalked at a considerably higher rate.  Combo that with Tombstone Piece, and you could end up being able to completely punish someone with Decisive Strike.
  • Tarvesh said:
What about things like Play With Your Food? Or ones that stack when you hit yournibsession? Do the stacks go away when a new survivor becomes the obsession, or do they stay and you can get even more stacks?
PWYF and STBFL have hard caps on the number of tokens you get from them.  There is no reason to assume that changing the Obsession mid-match would suddenly change the number of tokens you can hold or the number of tokens you currently have.
  • Paddy4583 said:

I think it's okay but I don't like the mechanic where your obsession can change mid-game. From how I understand it you don't become the obsession until you use d-strike so that would hurt killer's obsession perks a lot if that's how it works.

Hopefully it means no obsession unless DS is used hahaha
I imagine that it does nothing as far as affecting how other Obsession perks choose the Obsession.  What it will do, however, is change the Obsession mid-match.  For most perks, it's easy enough to understand the implications of that.  This does beg the question as to how Dying Light and Rancor would be affected.
  • Interaction I thought of:

Judith's Journal + Tombstone Piece (or I guess Judith's Tombstone).

If someone uses Decisive Strike, they become the Obsession.  Then Myers gets super accelerated stalking from Judith's Journal, presumably hits EW3 Myers quickly, and goes for the insta-kill.

I like it but I'm a little biased. This was actually an idea that came from a discussion here, so I'm really happy to see it making its way into the game.
You wouldn't happen to have a link to said discussion, would you?  Just for curiosity's sake.
  • In all seriousness, it's an interesting idea.  I'll have to see how it plays out before I cast judgement.  Two question, though:

    1) If a Survivor doesn't attempt the Skill Check, does that disable DS, or can they save it for their last hook?
    2) How would it interact with Dying Light?
  • This ruins the flavor of my Overweight Survivor build idea.  Therefore, I hate it.

I like the second suggestion, but I think the benefits of the first suggestion are marginal enough that it probably isn't worth adding.  If anything, I would simply suggest giving the last Survivor full bloodpoints for struggling after being hooked when the insta-sacrifice kicks in, provided they have not been hooked three times yet.
Why should the last survivor be deprived of 1500 BPs if they have been hooked for the first time and have Deliverance or Slippery Meat or 4% luck? :(
Because the game is pretty much over at that point?  Squeezing out a small amount of extra blood points isn't really a compelling enough reason IMO.

Nay, it actually gives the Hag a slight increase to her movement speed. And with other add ons (increase effective range, collision) it can help a lot.

Didn't someone play a few hundred games of default Pig and took statistics of when the survivors got off their traps?

First box had a solid 50% chance to be the one with the key.

    It was like 50% > 25% > 12.5% > 12.5% (rounded for simplicity).

Given what we know about how the Jigsaw Boxes work, the chances of finding the key in the 1st/2nd/3rd/4th box respectively is 25% -> 33.33% -> 50% -> 100%.  For 5 boxes, the first box is 20% and all other values are shifted one box back.  For 6 boxes, the first box is 16.67% and all other percentages are moved one box back.  There is flat-out no other way it could be unless the devs gave us bad information regarding how the boxes functioned.

The Source code could give this informations.
I just try asking the devs, because i dont want a game breaking pig bug.

    Here's the thing:

We know that the way the traps work, the game randomly picks one box to put the key in when someone gets a RBT slapped onto their head.  You could pray to the Entity and arrange your perks like a pentagram all you want, but unless you search through the box that was designated as the correct one, you're not gonna find a key in there.  It's not like the game could accidentally be setting the box's chances of success at 100% because that's not how the boxes work.

The only way the game could be bugging out in that regard is if the game was somehow designating EVERY box as the one with the key.  Considering that I've managed to get a Kill with an RBT as recently as two days ago (with the Annotated Plan, no less), I struggle to believe that the game is catastrophically bugging out that badly.

Legion Pin literally doesn't have any usage whatsoever, even in any hypothetical situations.

I think you're underestimating how critical those boxes auras are for actually finding them.

Amanda's Secret TAKES AWAY map awareness because you no longer have the auras of the boxes to rely on, but the Survivors still do (unless you are also running Rules Set No. 2).  The notification + aura for someone taking off a box is nigh useless because you have zero control over when and where it goes off.  If someone is searching a box nearby without Amanda's Secret, you would probably be able to start harassing them already before they even got the trap off because you knew where the box was to begin with anyways.  The only thing the Survivor aura does in that case is help you make up for the ground you lost because you couldn't find them in the first place due to not having a box aura to rely on.  With someone at a far away box, unless you already know the exact location of that box, you basically can't start going after them until they've already gotten the trap off.  If you didn't have Amanda's Secret, you could at least start going towards that box on a hunch, and if the trap came off at that box before you have arrived, you've already closed some of the distance needed to catch up to them.  If you want to catch someone at a close box, you are better off using anything other than Amanda's Secret so you can see the box aura and know to check there at some point, and if you want to catch someone at a far away box, you are better off using Barbecue and Chilli since Survivors with RBTs can't afford to play around it as efficiently.  Why would you use Last Will with an add-on that makes your RBTs actively less useful when you could use it with any other Pig add-on (even Amanda's Secret) and be better off?  You'd even be better off with using only Last Will and no other add-on.

I legitimately think Amanda Secret is 100% useless and at no point should you ever consider using it unless you are actively trying to make the Pig worse because you want to play Pig on Hard mode.

So you do have a point it does make you less efficient. Though, I did think of a stupid hypothetical situation.

If someone takes off the RBT, then proceeds towards a currently already hooked survivor, you would know that they are going to dive for a save... You couldn't know that information from any other perk out there.

Not likely to happen in any game though.

I don't think that's a terribly useful thing to know unless you were close enough to them already that they probably wouldn't go for the save anyways unless they were playing badly.  If they are far enough that they would deem it safe to go for the save, they are probably getting that save anyways.

Don't get me wrong, the Legion pins seem like very bad add-ons and are probably very high up on the "worst Killer add-ons" list.  But I don't think any other add-on in the game actively hinders its user as much as Amanda'd Secret.

I do find it sadly amusing that for a while, Amanda had both the worst perk in the game (Surveillance) and the worst add-on (Amanda's Secret).  At least the first one got buffed into being a usable perk.  Now we just wait for the same to happen to Amanda's Secret (among other Pig add-ons :P ).

I mean, at least Amanda's Secret had a slight (but very laughable) use. Before the Hag Buffs, all of the Hag's add ons had a stupid gimmick to them. So much so that to run one, you HAD to run another. Otherwise you would be stuck with a power with more debilitating effects then useful ones. (I.E to run a greater teleport range, you needed a necklace add on to nullify the increased trap placing.)

I started playing right after Hag got buffed.  Her pre-buff add-on downsides seem like absurd overkill.  Not even Pig's add-ons currently seem as bad as pre-buff Hag's add-ons.

And it's ''Very Rare'' SO COVETED!

It's at that rarity because it's "Very Rare" that you'll ever want to use it. :P

Doesn't seem that bad. You'd never have to patrol the boxes with it since it effectively patrols for you

It is that bad.  It makes it impossible to defend the boxes in any way until the Survivors have already gotten the trap off (which obviously is self-defeating), and unless you're actually near them when it happens, the 6 seconds of aura don't actually matter.  The upsides are so unreliable that one could make the argument that the perk may as well be all downside.

I mean, rummaging through the boxes makes so much noise, I don't even need to know where the boxes are though.

If you combine it with Last Will (so you have 5 reverse bear traps) you get stall game + map awareness. If someone removes a bear trap nearby, they are gonna get tunneled. Most people with reverse bear traps on their heads don't bother to heal, so it's an easy down.

  • I like the second suggestion, but I think the benefits of the first suggestion are marginal enough that it probably isn't worth adding.  If anything, I would simply suggest giving the last Survivor full bloodpoints for struggling after being hooked when the insta-sacrifice kicks in, provided they have not been hooked three times yet.

Pig doesn't have a chain?  Do you mean Razor Wire?

  • When I'm a Survivor I see pipping as a Win, when I'm Killer my Win is determined by how well I play against the Survivors. Even if I get 2 Kills I can still judge it as a loss depending on how I got those kills, it could've been luck and not skill.

I had a match as Pig today and almost got 1 Kill but then a silly Claudette decided to attemtp to get her trap off instead of going for the hatch so I got 2 kills. Despite the 2 kills I still felt it was a loss because I missing my attacks and having trouble catching Survivors so those 2 kills were not really skill based since my first kill was a No Mither...no skill required for them.

I certainly won't knock you for not feeling satisfied with those kills, but here's something to consider: In a typical game of any kind, a win isn't necessarily just determined by the winning party being skilled enough to take the win.  A win can also be determined by one or more opponents making a critical error that could cost them the game.
  • This whole thing could be cleared up with a "Killer Wins"/"Survivors Win" screen.
