Title, I know it can only be used once. But can you use it on an allies item if you pick it up?

It was possible in the PTB for the Descent Beyond Chapter, I haven't tried it in the live version though.

Sounds like a you problem. Have never had this happen even when I played on console.

EDIT: Not meaning to be an ######### sorry it def sounds like it

I don't want to be rude either, but there are multiple people in this discussion who have the same problem, so I doubt it's just senki527's problem.

That's odd because the description doesn't mention anything about the holidays as it does with Feng's 'Game Over's holiday sweator.

Not every sweater's description says something about the holidays, Meg's for example is about sports.

But those sweaters are part of the ugly sweaters collection so they are christmas sweaters, even if the description doesn't say that.

Seems like you ignored the "not all" part, but hey, whatever helps you make your point. : - /

I didn't. I just said that it doesn't make sense to say you are part of the last generation in the first sentence and than "not all of the younger generation" in your second sentence. Those a contradictory statements, you are either the last or you're not.

It would have been a different case if you would have said something like "I am part of the last generation were common sense was widespread as opposed to the younger generation were common sense is very rare."

I wouldn't agree with this statement either but atleast it would have been coherent.

But since you mentioned making a point: Interesting that you only commented on my admittedly a bit nitpicky phrasing critic, but ignored my other points.

    No arguments against them?

I asked my BF, who watches more news than I do, he hasn't heard anything either. I also asked a friend of mine from a different country altogether, nothing.

Yeah, definitely a global headline story though.

I guess some people aren't worth the time.

Do I expect people to be even vaguely familiar with a court case that has been in global headlines for the past week surrounding the topic they're bringing up?

I looked up "Keira Bell" and couldn't find any news source covering it that wasn't based in the UK - BBC, Daily Mail, The Guardian, The Economist, and so on. The best I could find was Twitter, which I don't visit for obvious reasons. It didn't make any headlines in my country either, despite being in Europe, so excuse me for not looking up recent court cases in all 200+ countries around the world before I post a single comment.

And in short, yes, I would say it's ignorance to enter a conversation saying "I don't know the current issues, or the extreme influence activists are having on politics and the medical field, so I'm going to assume that you're wrong."

    Whatever floats your boat.

Just to support your point: I'm also in Europe, I found one newspaper article (from a catholic magazine) and two block posts in my native language, that's it.

I think I grew up in the last generation where there was still a small pocket of people that could develop and apply common sense (90's). Not to say that everyone belonging to younger gens are the opposite, but it's far more common since social media/educational institutions have turned into propaganda machines that spew heavily left leaning rhetoric and ideas with no one to balance or check them with sensible alternatives.

Saying that you are part of the LAST generation that could develop common sense kind of contradicts your second statement.

Social media is used by people of all ages and all political believes.

The education thing is dependant on country, region and institution. People also have different opinion on what is a radical political believe and what not.

  • The Sweater aren't out yet (I think you will be able to get Zarina's this weekend via code). As far as I know you will only be able to get them with a code through the adventcalendar thing the Devs are doing at the moment, atleast untill January, then they the Sweaters will come to the shop.

So long story short, I'm 99% sure the cheryl is hacking.

damn, I'm probably not gonna spend 30+ dollars for a skin. thank you!

You are talking about the Legion skin from the Community contest right?

Those skins are supposed to come to the shop eventually, it might take some time (Devs said something about atleast 6-12 months) but you should be able to get the skin somewhere in the future so it's not completely lost when you can't get it this rift.

  • I've heard about PC players who got into console lobbys before crossplay was a thing, so it's definitely possible.

But I've also experienced that the game said someone was a crossplayer (had the symbol infront of their names) when they weren't (one time I had the symbol myself), so it might just be a bug and their threat is just a lie.

  • I watched the video, the Claudette used soul guard, but you had no totem perk active at the time, so it must be a cheat.

I've heard that there is a way to force a high ping so the killer can't hook you, so I guess that was what they were doing.

I faced unhookable survivors, who teleported around the map a while ago (two Claudette, they even wore the same outfit as your Claudette but that was probably a coincidence).

But as the other commenters already said: You have to report ingame and than send the video to the support, otherwise they can't work on the report.

The only thing you could do is report the Kate's username to steam, won't do much but might annoy them a bit

    define experimentation:

the action or process of trying out new ideas, methods, or activities.

Live test is not only method of experimentation. Ruin change also started as experimentation. Nice strawman though.

The Devs said about Ruin: This perk is used a lot and we have identified the following issues so we are going to rework Ruin.

The Devs said about BL: It was introduced fo reason X and might not be needed anymore, therefore we will start this experiment in order to better understand the effect Bloodlust has on the game in 2020.

They also said: "We would like to stress that this experiment is purely to gather data: No future plans for Bloodlust are set in stone at this time."

So no, Ruin and the BL test are not the same situation, there was no disclaimer for Ruin, the Devs basically said " We are going to change Ruin, deal with it", for BL it is more like: "We might change it, we need more data."

Welcome to our Designer Notes, a series of blogposts presenting the fine details of upcoming design changes. Today, we’ll be going over the first update of 2020, which includes changes to The Doctor, the Gatekeeper Emblem, and Hex: Ruin.

    DOCTOR UPDATE

In the next mid-chapter update, we will be changing core elements of The Doctor's gameplay. He's been a polarizing figure since his release, and we felt it was time to revisit his kit with an eye to making it less frustrating to play against him. We will keep his core identity as a Killer who shocks people with electricity and causes them to go insane, suffering several different kinds of afflictions and hallucinations. Some of his abilities and most of his add-ons will get an update pass.

We identified a major source of irritation to be his Static Field. The problem is that The Doctor gets periodic notifications of Survivors' locations in his Terror Radius due to their Madness levels increasing passively. It's the lack of action needed on the part of The Doctor to find nearby Survivors that makes it feel annoying to play against. With that in mind, the update centers around removing Static Field and replacing it with another ability.

The new ability replacing Static Field is called "Static Blast"; this is mapped to the Active Ability button. After charging the ability for a short duration, it releases a blast of static electricity throughout The Doctor’s entire Terror Radius. Any Survivors caught in the area of effect are shocked causing them to scream and acquire an amount of Madness. If their Madness level increases, they also reveal their location to The Doctor as usual.

While charging Static Blast, The Doctor's movement is significantly reduced, and the ability has a long cooldown. The idea behind the design of Static Blast is to make it powerful as a location tool, but very difficult to use while in a chase, hence the limitations on its use.

As Shock Therapy and Static Blast are now linked to separate inputs, we've removed the different Treatment and Punishment stances to improve the gameplay flow. The Doctor's base movement speed is still 4.6 m/s (the "regular" movement speed for most Killers), but he can now use Shock Therapy more easily as he doesn't have to switch stances to gain access to it. So we've added a brief pause after using Shock Therapy before he can attack or use another ability.

One last thing we've addressed is the frustration of using Snap Out Of It to drop from Madness level III to Madness level II. After the update, missing a skill check during Snap Out Of It will cost the player 25% of their progress instead of resetting it entirely. Also, if they stop the interaction before it's complete, they will not lose their progress and will continue from where they left off on the next attempt.

    HEX: RUIN AND GATEKEEPER UPDATE

The upcoming mid-chapter update will also include a major overhaul to Hex: Ruin, and an associated update to the Gatekeeper Emblem. Recent data show that Hex: Ruin is used in over 80% of all games in the red ranks, and across the entire userbase it appears in about 45% of all games.

We took a close look at the perk to identify what makes it so frustrating to play against. Three key issues were identified:

    1. Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.
    2. The passive nature of the gameplay pressure it provides means that there is a huge amount of potential with very little effort or risk on behalf of The Killer.
    3. Its inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.

We also looked carefully to see how it functions as part of a Killer's loadout. Beyond the obvious desire to slow down generator repair, Hex: Ruin functions as one of the very few perks effective as slowing generator repair in the first couple of minutes of the Trial. This is important to Killers' rankings because the Gatekeeper Emblem highly rewards keeping as many of the 7 generators incomplete as they can for as long as possible.

Because Hex: Ruin is one of the few tools a Killer has for getting an Iridescent Gatekeeper Emblem, the update needed to respect that. Just a straight-up nerf without considering the consequences for that Emblem wouldn't be a good plan. So before getting into the Hex: Ruin change, let's go over the Gatekeeper Emblem.

Currently, Gatekeeper's underlying points are scored as a number of points per generator remaining to be repaired multiplied by which minute the match is in. Additional points are scored for any remaining generators at the end of the Trial. This provides much less of a reward to a Killer who loses three gens quickly, but then doggedly keeps the last few until the end of the match.

The new version of Gatekeeper is simpler: one point is scored per generator remaining to be repaired per minute for the first nine minutes. At the end of the Trial, if both Exit Gates remain closed, additional points are scored. With less focus on keeping seven generators up, we can move on and change Hex: Ruin without making it significantly harder for Killers to do well in Gatekeeper.

The new Hex: Ruin is simple:

All Generators are affected by Ruin; if a Generator is not being worked on, it regresses at [1/1.5/2] times the normal regression rate.

The Hex effect persists as long as the related Hex Totem is standing.

This version of the perk has many benefits:

    • Survivors who are working on generators are unaffected as the perk no longer affects Skill Checks.
    • Killers must be active in pushing Survivors off generators to get value from it.
    • It is less useful in the early game, but very useful in the late game. Survivors now have a more interesting choice about when it is necessary to find and cleanse the Hex Totem.

The changes outlined above, along with the Lery’s Memorial Institute rework, are slated for the mid-chapter update and will be available to test on the Player Test Build (PTB) starting tomorrow. Please be sure to let us know what you think once you’ve had a chance to try them out!

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KK2I5XMJ4VHB/bloodlust.png

This weekend, Bloodlust will be temporarily disabled on the live version of the game.

    Why?

Bloodlust was originally introduced as a means to help the Killer catch up to Survivors at strong window loops. At the time, these loops were safe enough that the Survivor would gain a significant amount of distance each time the vaulted the window, making it impossible for the Killer to catch them.

Since then, we have made great strides in identifying these loops and tweaking them to avoid those situations. As a result, Bloodlust has become a contentious mechanic, where many believe it’s no longer necessary.

In order to better understand the effect Bloodlust has on the game in 2020, we will be disabling the mechanic on PC & consoles for the course of this weekend. This will allow us to gather feedback and data on Bloodlust and see what kind of effect it has on matches in a real-world scenario.

    When?

November 20, 11 a.m. EST: Bloodlust is disabled

    November 23, 11 a.m. EST: Bloodlust is re-enabled

    Disclaimer

This test only disables the Bloodlust mechanic. References to Bloodlust will still appear in the game, and Beast of Prey will not activate as a result.

We would like to stress that this experiment is purely to gather data: No future plans for Bloodlust are set in stone at this time.

  • Imo "zombie child" describes Victor best if you go with the lore.

I don't understand why people make a difference between a baby and a child. Victor is older than a baby, yes, but still a minor:

    1. BHVR said they wouldn't bring a minor into the game, I'd say it up to someones personal interpretation if a Zombie child breaks that rule.

    2. If someone is uncomfortable with the idea of having a minor in a violent video game, why would the exact age matter. A child is child.

What I think they mean is that, when you wiggle then get dropped, your wiggle meter is obviously filled a bit. After some time of being slugged, this regressess back down to 0%, or instantly hits 0% when you get healed up again.

Oh I had that recently, the killer dropped me after I had wiggled a bit, so I was pretty sure that I could escape but when he picked me up later, there was almost no progress on the wiggle bar. I thought that was a bug.

I don't know if that actually works any more. A year ago they implimented a system that only takes into account the SWF member with the highest rank while matchmaking to prevent exactly this, and I've heard conflicting statements about whether or not it was actually disabled

It isn't working. My gal was getting into the game and then that turned off. She had the same experience, game after game of SWF rigging things to get her into a room with 1-3 Red Rank and their token lower ranks. She won't play Killer anymore.

Both of these screenshots are from this week:

    DSC_0157.JPG

The rank 3 and rank 14 were SWF so the system worked in that case.

    DSC_0159.JPG

I was grouped with the rank 2, the rank 18 and 16 might have been an SWF, I don't remember, but they definitely weren't grouped with us, but the matchmaking still matched us like that.

I don't know if the system is only working for Duo-SWFs or only working sometimes or doesn't work it all, but the last pictures shows, that weird matchmaking happens even without mixed SWF groups.

I do think it's misleading because the intent, as I understand it, was to imply that Charlotte was keeping Victor's body alive, even if he himself was already dead. Then there's the Entity, who can do almost anything She pleases. She could've aged Victor's body and kept it from fully decaying. Regardless, even if he died when he was 6, that's still not a baby.

I don't think you were rude, just FYI.

Okay, I added it in, thank you.

    @Madjura said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1742672#Comment_1742672

You can't be decaying and aging at the same time.

    [...]

I understand that he is supposed to be an adult but I just think the lore contradict that.

I think you are completely right and I want to emphasize your argument a bit.

Charlotte is intended to be young, barely old enough to be considered an adult. As you point out it makes no sense to say you are aging when you are dead. Victor was dead. While he was dead, for an unspecified amount of time, he did not age.

Charlotte is barely old enough to be an adult. Victor is younger because he did not age while dead. Therefore Victor is younger than "barely old enough to be an adult". Therefore he is at least a child, even if not a baby / toddler. It is not specified for how long he was dead, or how old his sister is, so he could still technically be barely old enough to be considered an adult if you count only the time he spent alive. The backstory does not state this explicitly, and because Charlotte is young and due to how Victor looks, moves and sounds I think players are definitely supposed to see him as a baby.

If you age while dead you could add a new killer, "The Zombie" that is literally just a a zombie baby. As long as it has been in the zombie-state for long enough (21 years should be safe, but you could also make it 100 years to be extra sure) then by the same logic it's not a problem anymore. But I think everyone would agree that that killer would definitely be a baby even if the physical body is technically old enough to be an adult.

If I remember it correctly the lore mentions her teenage years, so you are probably right and she is supposed to be atleast 18, but probably not much older.

If I understand you correctly you are saying that lore shouldn't be used as an excuse at all, because what counts is the impression something makes, if Victor (or a different character) looks like a child and walks like a child, people recognize it as a child regardless of lore and Intention.

I think it's a good point, but in this case not even the lore is supporting their argument imo.

In general I think we agree that there are issues with this Chapter and the Devs could have handled thinks better (like the beard that you suggested).

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1742648#Comment_1742648

Yes, and then there's this part that you left out: "as if his sister's blood still coursed through him."

It doesn't matter to me either, and I do agree it sounds like the devs want to have their cake and eat it too, but he's not supposed to be a baby.

I left it out because I don't think it changes the fact: You can't be decaying and aging at the same time.

But I can edit it in if you think the statement is misleading without that part.

I understand that he is supposed to be an adult but I just think the lore contradict that.

I'm sorry if I was rude to you, that wasn't my Intention, this Chapter and the Devs way of handling the expectable discussion of the baby/child thing just dissapoints me, so I might be a bit unfriendly in my responses.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1742619#Comment_1742619

The lore implies his body didn't rot because Charlotte's own was keeping it alive in some fashion. It's not outlandish to assume his body aged at the same time hers did.

The exact wording is: "Victor's corpse rotted [...] yet demonstrated resistance to complete decomposition" "as if his sister's blood still coursed through him." (I edited in the blood part thanks to Orion's note that it could be misleading without this part.)

Not completely decaying is far from aging imo. There are mummys who are not completely decayed but I wouldn't say that they have aged.

In the end it doesn't matter for me personally, I don't like the general look of the twins (it's the wrong kind of weird imo) but I have not had experiences that make Victor particulary triggering to me.

But I think it's a rude move for people that are triggered by it to bring a child in the game (as far as I know they said they didn't want to do it) and try to justify it with the lame excuse of the same age because of twins (the twin thing is another issue, but a minor one).

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1742511#Comment_1742511

IT IS NOT A BABY. They’re twins. Meaning Charlotte and Victor are exactly the same age.

    @Gay Myers (Luzi) said:

He is NOT a baby. He is Charlottes twin brother. There is no baby kicking in DBD.

The lore says that Victor died when he and Charlotte were children and his half-decayed corpse stayed in her body for many years. The entity took Victor and "resurrected" him.

So I don't understand how he and Charlotte are supposed to be the same age, when he was dead while she aged.

By my understanding he would be zombie toddler or child, because he was older than a baby when he died, still younger than an adult (and you get than Charlotte).

Edit: The lore says the twins were 5 years old when the mother was killed. It doesn't specify how long they stayed at the temple but the wording doesn't sound like it was very long, so I don't think that Victor was older then 6-8 years when he died.

Parasitic Twins are a form of Conjoined Twins. It's sort of a square-to-rectangle comparison; parasitic twins are conjoined twins, but not all conjoined twins have a "parasite twin". Considering Victor is heavily deformed, as though his body hadn't developed properly, he fit the description of the "parasite twin" pretty well. Even if he started as a normal conjoined twin though, Victor would have essentially become a psuedo-parasite twin when he died (and Charlotte would have had developed severe health problems as a consequence of his passing).

Also like I said: hadn't read their lore before this, that was just my impression upon seeing what they looked like and how they were related.

I was reading about it in this article if it helps explain what I'm talking about.

I haven't heard about parasitic twins so thanks for sharing the article :)

But my point still stands, but I think I didn't express it clearly: Conjoined or parasitic twins are identical, so they share the same DNA and therefore the same sex, so it doesn't make sense to me, that Charlotte is female and Victor male. It's obviously not a big problem, but the fact that Charlotte is female and Victor is connected to her stomach adds to the weird "Baby" vibe so it annoys me a little.

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1740509#Comment_1740509

I haven't seen the lore, but based on appearances Victor is likely the Parasitic version of a Conjoined Twin. He would be the same age as Charlotte (the dominant twin in the pair) but he would never have fully developed, hence his small and deformed appearance.

In reality, Victor likely wouldn't even have a complete mind of his own, nor would he be able to survive on his own without being attached to his twin. But the Entity works in mysterious ways.

In the lore Victor dies, but his half-decayed body stays in Charlotte's body for years.

In reality Charlotte and Vicor wouldn't be a thing because conjoined twins are always identical twins (atleast to my knowlegde) and Charlotte and Victor are obviously not identical.

  • I'm not sure, but I think that the Halloween Bonus Bloodpoints that you get from doing Halloween gens are not counted for the douple bp Event (and maybe not for WGLF).

  • Can you post a picture of your bloodweb?

The recent changes to the perk varietys (tier 1= yellow, tier 2= green,..) makes it easier to overlook perks imo.

It's also possible that you have not enough perks unlocked, e. g. If you have all the perks on one character and you want the perks from the new Chapter, only three perks will be in your bloodweb because there is only three different perks that your character does not own yet.

Otherwise it might be a bug.

  • I have similar problems with dbd, it takes a lot longer to finish updating than (most of) my other games.

My brother has the same problem (and he has a far better computer than I). He tried changing steam servers but that didn't help. He blames dbd's optimization.

I also think that I heard a streamer say that he has problems with dbd's updates but I'm not 100% sure, but it seems like you're not the only person with this problem.

Also reminder that survivors taking the game hostage for hatch - is the Dev's fault. When they decided it was a good idea to add the hatch to Survivors as a free win mechanic for originally taking the game hostage.

@Orion already asked you that but since you ignored them I'm going to ask again: Do you have any proof for your claim about the hatch?

This video from the Beta (skip to 19:05) shows that the hatch is already in the game so I don't know what you are taking about.

I actually had a shitload of fun during the first Halloween event. You had a chill time as Killer because survivors prioritized farming flowers instead of doing generators.

I mostly played survivor during that event and I enjoyed it a lot aswell. The extra objective wasn't to hard to complete and I think the fact that it made the game a bit less stressful for killers helped survivors like me aswell, because the killers played more relaxed.

I don't think people have realsied that past events have been the same right? It's not like ppl were honestly expecting a new gamemode or anything srsly.

No, past events were not the same. The first hallowed blight, the second moonlight event and the anniversary event all added new objectives to unlock cosmetics.

I personally was dissapointed from the Halloween event a year ago aswell, but it was the first rift and while I hate the rift you can still argue, that it changed the gameplay too. Just not in a good way imo.

The stats are very heavily skewed by people that have no idea what they are doing. For example, The Game is one of the most survivor sided maps in the entire game. Every single pallet is completely and utterly safe, there's plenty of them, and the killer cannot cut people off mid-chase or glance around for info. And yet it has the lowest survival rate.

I really, really wouldn't trust them. Ever. They never take into account the content of a trial, only the result.

I don't think that the actual numbers are realistic, but that they can give an info about the distribution. I can understand your argument that people might not play indoor maps correct, but shelter woods? There is no specific skill to shelter woods, there is no main building, the pallet spawns aren't crazy and the map layout itself is simple. Rottenfields, a map with a similar layout (and I believe the size was similar back than too) has the top survival rate. My problem with shelter woods is, that the map is so lazy (it has only trees, Rocks and tiles and the trees are not even good as line of sight blocker) and is heavily rng dependant. You might get many pallets or only a few, you might geht junge gyms or L-and-T-Walls/Long-Wall-short-Walls. The big size can definitly work against the killer though, don't get my wrong.

I don't think that shelter woods is the worst map in the game nor the worst map for survivors, not even close, but I still had hope that the Devs would make this map more interesting when they updated Macmillan.

The problem in my opinion with indoor maps is (and why they all have low survival rates) that it is harder to find the gens and keep an eye on them to prevent a three gen. The killer can also protect the gens better because the map is smaller. Being able to loop is great but gen rushing counters every killer and every (most) survivor can do it, because it is easier than looping. I had many matches, were the killer downded people quickly, but the gen still flew (mostly no mobility killers on big maps).

Also your point that the killer can't spot survivors easily applies to survivors too, because it is harder to spot the pallets as survivor too (for that reason I think WoO is great on the game). The game has also very few Windows, so if players aren't careful they can create deathzones pretty quickly.

So in general I agree with you that the game isn't as bad as people think it is, but the pallets aren't the only important factors on this map imo.

I just hooked a survivor on an event hook and didn’t use an offering, and I got some bp for it.

Then I remembered it wrongly and the offering increases the bonus, thank you for lettinh me know.

Do you remember the amount of Bloodpoints you got? Is it worth it using the hooks?

I just played survivor, and got 3. 000 for doing a blighted gen with a pustula offering.

  • If I understood it correctly, you only get extra points for event gens/hooks if you threw the offering. Atleast for me those offerings are not really that common in the bloodweb, so your Killers might not care for the event hooks because they don't have offerings.

Thank you! Yes, on PS4, it's OPTIONS then MATCH DETAILS. This is convenient. I can't believe I didn't see this.

It is a great feature but can still get a little confusing when in a trial with all the same character. Oh well! I'll take what I can get! Thanks again.

    No problem :)

I also had no idea that this is a thing until I saw some streamer doing it.

Not sure I'd call such a large map killer-sided just because it can potentially spawn the least amount of pallets in a very rare scenario.

Sadly the only stats we have that show the survival rate for every map are older than a year but those stats indicated that shelter woods is one of the worst maps for survivors with a survival rate around 40%.

    Untitled Image

Of course some maps were changed and other maps were added (maps like hawkins who are worse for survivors) so I guess that shelter woods would probably be more in the middle if the Devs would release stats again, but I doubt that it is a good map for survivors.

Im coming up with a theory, but need more input from others.

I've purchased recently cells and got the bonus...

I've also purchased cells recently but I didn't get the bonus.

  • If you press esc in the end game screen and than select match details (I think that is, what it's called, not 100% sure though) you can see the players names and which characters they played.

I agree. They should be exclusive otherwise it just devalues the rift.

What is the point in putting in all those hours to get Tier 70 if you can just buy the rewards later on anyway.

It removes the actual reward of being able to say "look, I completed rift X".

I mean look at the devs reasoning for not restoring legacy skins to people who lost them... why is that same reasoning not applicable to the rifts?

The Devs only apply this logic to legacy, they gave the code exklusives like streetwear meg and the event outfits from the first moonlight Event and the summer bbq event to every player for free.

They also said that they do not want to continue doing exklusives.

You mean this one? I thought most people got it because the last halloween event was fairly easy (get syringes, get skins heehee)

There's probably a ton of people who just forgot they even have hallowed blights skins from last year. That shows how dull these events have gotten, really.

The Nurse skin was in the paid track (not earnable though the serum that was in the free track), so people that didn't paid for the Premium Pass or didn't make it far enough in the rift couldn't earn this skin.

IIRC the last stats we got showed 80% survival rate at rank 1 (skewed due to ranking issues) yet still 60% at rank 2. This alleged insane drop in survival rate makes me wonder if we had a tremendus influx of new players that got wrecked by hardcore killers during the mmr system (r1 killer with 1k+ hrs vs literal 4x rank 20 all the time) or if low rank survivors make up the vast majority of games.

In these stats from November 2019

Stats are back at last! We've taken some time to gather some data and make some fancy graphs for your viewing pleasure. Be sure to let us know if you'd like to see more regular stat releases in the future! Since it has been a while since we last shared stats, these graphs show data from the past three months unless otherwise stated. Please keep in mind that numbers are not everything; there are a whole bunch of factors that could influence these numbers.

Note: If you're having trouble viewing the charts, clicking on them will open a larger version.

    Killer power vs. popularity

Starting off with how frequently killers are played compared to how well they tend to do on average. A 50% kill rate would be the equivalent of two survivors dying and two survivors escaping.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/230/KSPIKOCTC8RD.png

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/910/6KD3I8P3L1V9.png

    Maps

We went ahead and checked which three maps are safest and which three are the most dangerous.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/275/ZYOLAR28JADQ.png

    Mid-chapter 3.3.0: Outcome

The Nurse was changed in the last mid-chapter patch, and we've been keeping an eye on her performance since then. Below, we've listed her performance on PC before and after the changes, both in all ranks and in red ranks. Like the charts above, the numbers shown here are her kill rates (where 50% means two survivors escape and two die).

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/864/BDOZ0GYZMPZW.png

they showed killer specific killrates not survival rates. The lowest kill rate in red rank was around 60%, the highest was around 75%, which would mean, that the survival rate in red ranks was somewhere between 40 and 25 %.

For all ranks the lowest kill rate was around 45% (Nurse, the only killer under 50%), the highest around 70%.

Those stats were taken across all platforms and are influenced through many factors, so I wouldn't want to take them for granted at every time but I want to say that those November stats were already pretty different than the spring 2019 stats you are refering to.

  • Was on steam forums (and would probably fall under naming and shaming).

Basically they complained that it was unfair and unecessary and it was all the fault of the survivors because they always complain and the Devs always listen to them. So they called the killer community to protest by bringing moris and playing as toxic as possible.

I understand that people are upset about nerfs to their favourite killer, but that reaction seemed a little extreme for an adult.

  • I've seen someone over 40 who threw a fit when the Nurse nerf was anounced so..

I’m 21 and most people I play SWFs with are in their 20s too. I play on Steam though and PC gamers tend to be a little bit older.

I’ve never run into anyone that seems super young. I highly doubt that most Steam players are 11-14 like you’re assuming. I’d say maybe 18-28 is more realistic

Do you mean Dbd players on steam or steam players in general? Because I've met many steam players aged 14-17, not all of them in dbd though.

The youngest people I played dbd with were 13, but that was an experience I do not want to repeat.

  • As others have mentioned, console has build in party chat which would be impossible to block. Steam also has a group chat function so I don't think it is possible to block voice communication outside of the game. And even if it is: You can still play in the same room, no voice programm needed.

My probleme with build in voice chat is that I don't think it's going to be super helpful even if people aren't trolling. I live in Europe so I get matched with many people that speak different languages and not everybody is willing or able to speak english. Especially in a case of an SWF I would expect them to keep taking in their mother language for convience.

That’s my question though. I wondering why Steam allows this (as open ended question)

Don't know if somebody mentioned it already, but as far as I know, steam doesn't allow it, but because it doesn't use filters, people have to actively report offensive names or profiles but than steam will react.

But with the amount of profiles and how easy it is to change a name, it is impossible to avoid offensive names unless steam adds a filter.

  • @Kebek said:

That's holding the game hostage and is bannable offence.

If they weren't progressing their objective and basically only hiding then you should have definitely reported them for holding the game hostage.

    @[Deleted User] said:

Isn't this considered holding the game hostage? If you have video proof I think you can make a report card.

I had a similar case recently (only 15 min though) and reported it with video proof, but I was told that there wasn't enough information to verify my report.

So while I would agree with you that this is holding the game hostage and should be bannable, I'm not sure if the Devs share that opinion.

WGLF never rewarded you any tokens for Pallet stun and Flashlight saves, it only awarded tokens for safe unhooks and protection hits

Ngl chief I stopped reading here just because you're wrong. Pallet and beamer saves do give stacks on live right now, and have for about 3 years.

I just want to add, saving someone from a beartrap also gives you a token (unless they changed that).

But those things are so situational.

  • @BioX said:

Perks should be shown, it brings Solo and SWF a bit closer which is what we want.

Also SWF should be shown in the end screen just to dispell the idea that SWF is the bane of all killers.

And lastly the crossplay globe icon needs to be removed, I get it for the start so everyone can see crossplay is working and how well etc but now it just feeds into ignorance and confirmation bias, we all play the same game and all to the same skill level on average otherwise crossplay would not be a thing so yeah, remove that icon, we are all just players of the game, dont separate us this way as it only leads to bad views.

Removing the icon won't do much, you will still see if someone is a from a different platform or not when you try to open the profile.

  • @YaiPa said:

because the survivor role was designed with lack of information in mind, only after a while SWFs were enabled, completely destroying the original game idea...

Your last point is the most saddest part.

I reported a speedhacker 1 month ago. No feedback. Just the automated response. Same goes for heavy insults. But closing the endgamechat works fine, too.

Would be nice to know if the support team is too small or if they get spammed with nonissues (facecamp reports etc.) and can't look at the important issues.

I reported two players for unsportmanslike behaviour (trolling SWF that did nothing for 15 minutes) a while ago, send a video, steam ID, so theoretically they had everything they needed. The answer I got was: "there is not enough Information but thank you for your service." The ticket was closed, so I couldn't ask for more details.

I don't get it. If there is not enough Information, why wouldn't they ask me to provide more before closing the ticket? If they think the situation doesn't warrant a penalty than why wouldn't they tell me that so that I know for the future what falls under unsportmanslike behaviour and what not?

I know, hacking is a more serious issue, but it is really discouraging to take the time to fill a report just to get such an answer, so I'm not sure, if I would do that again.

  • @cloudface said:

😅😄😂😃😆 on PS4 you can easily record your game and the hacking evidence (PC guys via crossplay) but there's no genuine reporting available. You can click on someone's name and click one of the fake reporting options but there's no actual report on any player actioned and it's obviously just a way to placate disgruntled players.

The irony of The PC Master Race getting so many advantages in the game and better treatment from BHVR but not being able to easily record footage is quite amusing 😃. Great thread OP!

You can easily record players on PC (if you are using Windows): Windows key + G.

The Problem is that not everybody knows that, and not everybody knows that you are supposed to submit vidoes in general. And if you are reporting a steam player you are also expected to give them a steam-ID which you can only get using an external Website.

And even if you have done all of that, you still need to upload the video, YT is recommend but from experience I can say that it doesn't always work.

So imo OP is 100% right: The report system in dbd sucks, its such a hassle for the person that wants to report someone and the Devs really should work on improving it.
