Mori's definitely aren't fun, but if you use them in that jerk way (mori'ng straight off of hook) you will almost always de-pip.
Keys, on the other hand, can turn a game where Survivors would've de-pipped into a game where they pip.
Using Mori's in their most broken way, and the way that most people have a problem with, is detrimental to the Killer and will result in that Killer losing Rank. Keys, on the other hand, reward Survivors for having them by allowing them to instantly turn a game around and gain Rank.
Both should be changed.
I don't understand why you using rank as an argument, because 1. the ranking system in itself is flawed and 2. not everybody cares about rank to begin with but aside from that, I don't think that you are necessarily correct about the effect that keys and moris have on the ranking system: You don't need to mori every survivor after their first hook, getting one person out early should be enough to slow the game done, than you can play normally: You still used the jerk method but you won't depip from it.
As for keys, are you sure that they help that much with pipping? Sure escaping grants you points for unbroken, but in most cases that will only be one point. Escaping with more than one survivor could also help a bit with benevolent, because you lose points when the killer hooks somebody but I'm not sure if the impact of that is big enough to make a significant difference for that emblem. So in conclusion, I don't think that you can gain many emblem points from Escaping with a key, it might turn a depip in a safety pip or a safety pip in pip, but it sounds unrealistic to me that a key escape will make you pip if you would have otherwise depiped. People always say "It's so easy to pip as survivor, it doesn't even matter if you die or not. ", I just can't see why a key escape should change that statement so drastically.
But in general I don't think that Ranking is important for that discussion, like I said, the emblem system is flawed anyway. Keys and moris end games faster than they should end and they are unfun for the other side, that should be enough reason to change them imo.

I've heard that higher frames make it easier to hit great skillchecks so PC Survivor could have a slight advantage in that area, but that shouldn't be to impactful for the match Overall, because Ruin was changed and great skillchecks only give a 1% Bonus.

I play on Xbox and AFAIK it only happens on our platform. Also Sloppy hits will cause your game to literally freeze for a full second, and Doc can do a thing I won't mention that lags the game. All on Xbox for sure.
PC players definitely don't know about this. None of this stuff happens on PC.
If you play on PC and equip Sloppy against cross platform players you are a bad person.
Also, since they updated chests I don't think this bug can happen anymore. It's a new animation and the item is already in the chest when you open it. There's not lag spike when you open it like there was before. I haven't tried to do it while someone was in phase 2 though, so I can't be sure.
I have never experienced the open-a-chest - survivor-dies-on-hook-bug on PC, but sloppy makes my game freeze too, so that's not a Xbox only issue.

Holding w moves you forward after a bit, but they can begin again. holding shift instantly forces them to let go of you and they cannot heal you again.
Good to know, thanks :)

I remember reading a few days ago on this forum that when you hold shift or something that they can't force you into being healed? Someone would need to confirm this.
That is correct and I think even holding w is supposed to stop the heal.

Yeah i have, and trust me, he was hacking, his accuracy was perfect, like he never even looked for the survivors, he always walked in a straight line to whichever survivor he was going after, also there was this one time i went into a closet with him being absolutely nowhere near me and i stayed in there for a bit and all of a sudden i heard the heartbeat and there he was, came up right to the closet i was in and snatched me out of there, he didn't look around or anything, he just stared at my closet while walking to it.
But that is 100% possible with the perk Bbq and Chili. It let's you see auras when you hook someone so you know exactly where they are.
The closet thing is a little bit weird but there could be reasons like you accidently left scratchmarks to the locker, or he saw you entering the locker with bbq etc.
Sorry, if I sound dismissive but in more than 1000 hours in dbd on PC I've seen 2 or 3 lagswitchers (and I'm not sure if lagswitching count as hack or as exploit) and no other hacks, so I from my experience hacks are relativly rare. If the Leatherface was really hacking you got really unlucky.
I would recommend you to record your game if you think you are playing with a Cheater for two reasons:
1. You need video proof to report people, you have to send it to the Devs with a Support Ticket (But make sure to report them ingame too, click here for Infos about Report System: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system )
2. You can watch the Video again (or share it with people in the Forum) to see if you might find a reason why the killer could have spotted you like crows, etc.

The crossplay function is bad. I have encountered atleast 3 hackers in under a week ever since i started playing with the crossplay on, the first one was a leatherface with x ray hacks, he knew where everyone was at all times, he would hook somebody and then start walking directly in the direction of a survivor on the other side of the map, and then do it again, it was painfully obvious that he was hacking, me and my friend reported him after the match but i don't know what happened to him. Dbd devs, y'all really have to fix this somehow.
You have checked their perks right? Because what you are describing sounds like Bbq and Chili, not like a hack.

What's bugged about Ash?
Something with the sounds?

Lmao. Thats the downside to it. If its actually useful, it's no issue. If it's not, then you pay for the protection it could have provided.
That sounds like a super odd idea to me. It's going to punish the team more than the DS User. And it will incourage DS users to run into the killer to get rid of the debuff sooner and because getting chased is the most useful thing they can do in that scenario.
I'd rather have ds deactive when working on a gen or unhooking other survivors.

Two survivors being able to leave with three gens left doesn't seem very fair. Since we're talking fair.
It's three gens done, not three gens left.

There is no guess.
His power is barely 2/3 recovered. If she was paying attention to her phase she would know this and know she is faking it. Besides the fact that she ran DIRECTLY TO HER. You don't need to guess in this situation. All you need is to pay attention to the game and use some logic. She had 2 story next to her, that building is strong against Spirit, and she could have easily made it to at least the pallet at the front door (IDK if it was still up but still).
Running headfirst back into the killer is the purest example of a player that just has no ######### clue how to play against Spirit, which is like 95% of the survivor population, INCLUDING many streamers and forumers. Spirit literally turns survivors into potatoes.
Before every spirit was running Stridor, when people paid more attention to scratchmarks than sounds (or maybe sounds were just bugged than, who knows) running back into the spirit wasn't such a bad idea. Running back on your own scratchmarks conceals the new ones and can confused the spirit, at best making her lose you completely (requires iron will though). I've done it many times, and it worked many times. As far as I remember, I've never run into a Spirit that was just standing still.
I mean it's obviously stupid against a stridor spirit but it wasn't such a bad strategy for quite some time.

I read somewhere it was about 48 hours per devotion level? I am not sure.
48 sounds highly unrealistic. My bf started playing at the time when Devotion was added, considering his hours and devotion level it took him about about 160 - 180 hours for one level. He usually plays both roles per day.
I don't think you can give a general time for one Devotion level because of the daily bonuses though.
(Didn't used my own play time to calculate because I started playing before the Devotion Update.)

It could entirely be possible that this time there are less Killer Blight-Skins than Survivor Blight-Skins.
First time we got Claudette and Dwight, and for Killers Doctor, Trapper, Wraith, Billy and Huntress.
Second time only Jake as Survivor and Hag, Spirit, Plague, Clown as Killers.
So the only Killers left without a Blight-Skin are Deathslinger, Oni, Legion and Blight. Survivors are way more.
Of course it all depends on the fact IF they would do any Blight-Skin for The Blight and how many Skins for Legion would be produced (can be anything from 1 to 4), but in general, it might happen that there are more Survivor Skins than Killer Skins this time.
(Of course only if there will be Skins or an Event at all - since nothing is confirmed yet)
Nurse also got a blight skin, but only in the paid rift. I wouldn't be surprised if they did this again (my guess would be Legion because they are popular) so then there would be only three killers left to get a blight skins.
Edit: Or they might put a survivor skin in the paid rift (then maybe meg or Nea).

You can message the killer if you send a friend request and he accepts it (given you both are on steam, of course).
From my experience the friend requests are easy to miss when you ingame, but maybe I should have tried it.

I had exactly such a game maybe a week ago. Playing with two blendettes, and as soon as I was dead and they were the only left, they refused to do any gens and crouched around the map the whole time (with urban, of course), for more than 15 mintues. Eventually I befriended the killer and tried to tell him where they were hiding, it still took quite some time until they were finally sacrificed (bc. I could only messge him).
I had the same experience this weekend, I wonder if we had the same players but in my case it were two Neas, so probably not. You can't message the killer on steam (and they gave up after 15 minutes) but I recorded and reported them, but with the bad report system we have at the moment I'm not sure if something is going to happen.
The killer had given up after some time, the Neas were urbaning around in an indoor map, so no chance.

The Hag: Likely 40's
The Cannibal: He is about 24-26 years old
The Pig: 33 years old (Taken from Saw 1)

The Clown: Def in his 40s
The Spirit: About 17 or 18 years old

The Legion: Frank is 19, Julie and Joey are about 18, And Susie is about 17-16
The Demogorgon: Impossible to tell since we don't know which Demogorgon we have
The Executioner: Is a manifestation of James Sunderlands guilt, this way you can call his age depending on how old James is, How old his guilt is, Or when he manifested in Silent Hill.
Can't remember the rest, these might be off a little.
Edit: Included Legion, Demogorgon, And Executioner.
I'm pretty sure that the Hag is younger. Her original lore talks about how she grew up in a village and likes the Charms the elders taught her, then she goes missing. There is no mention of her adult years and her archive is about her school years, it mentions her being 16.
Also here is an oder discussion about the killer timeline from the lore section:
@VolantConch1719 said:
Since I have nothing better to do, I decided to put together a timeline for when each Killer's story took place. This took, honestly not that much time, but some of it is obviously questionable. And since a lot of these stories could have taken place during a large time period, obviously some Killers are in the wrong spot, but this is the best I could do.
Obviously, Adiris the Plague is the oldest Killer in the game. Babylon existed during 2300-539 BC. Using the knowledge that all the other priests got sick, I interpret that as towards the end of Babylon's reign. But since every time I look up Babylonian plagues, I instead get an album from a band called Iced Earth or the Ten Plagues of Egypt from Exodus, I'm just going to leave it at that. Either way, she is infected (likely through that toe she chopped off, exposing herself to the plague) and exiled herself. I will say this though, since it confuses me. WHY DID THE ENTITY TAKE ADIRIS??? NEVER ONCE DOES SHE KILL SOMEONE!!! Either way, she was desperate and prayed to her gods, and got the Entity instead.
Kazan Yamaoka, or Oni-Yamaoka was a samurai (though his actions make me believe him to be more akin to a Ronin, or samurai without a master, as his father, Renjiro, was his master and DID NOT approve of his actions. Plus the whole patricide thing). The question is from what time period. According to several sources, a former peasant by the name of Toyotomi Hideyoshi became a samurai and would eventually become one of the leading men of Japan, roughly around 1590, succeeding ODA NOBUNAGA. After this, he banned non-samurai from owning swords, in an attempt to keep Japan safer. You were either born a samurai, or you weren't (however, as Malum_Midnight has shown in another thread, it wasn't exactly enforced very well, so that's something to think about). So Kazan has to be from before this time, as he was brutally murdering hundreds of peasant samurai. The period that Hideyoshi (Japanese names, at least back then, were family name, then personal name, so Kazan is actually Yamaoka Kazan, but it makes sense either way) ended was the Sengoku Period, from 1467-1600. That's a long time period to work with, but I'd say he's from around the middle of it, around 1530 to 1550ish, but that's just me.
We actually have a decent understanding of when Caleb Quinn, the Deathslinger, is from. Through the lore given by Zarina, his Survivor, we know that an "Irish-born inmate" was sentenced to fifteen years for assault in Hellshire Penitentiary in 1860. This aligns almost perfectly with Caleb (and, in another thread, I've gone into detail about how the inconsistencies between their backstories makes sense, but I'm not reiterating it here). Due to Caleb's lore, we know that he was let out early because he was helping the warden. This is where things get a little tricky, because this can be interpreted in one of two ways. 1. His sentence was fifteen years and he was released earlier OR 2. His original sentence was longer, and it was shortened to fifteen years. I believe the former to be the truth. The question is... HOW early? I'd give an estimate of between six to ten years. As Spooky13 pointed out, Caleb's uncommon cosmetics very plainly state that he originally had a longer sentence. Now, I almost never consider cosmetics canon, but I never said anything about the DESCRIPTION of them (unless they are so obviously not true... looking at you Lunar New Year Susie). So, Caleb was released 15 years after his arrest, in 1875. After that, it's a straightforward six years before Caleb realizes he's being used and takes his posse to get revenge, getting claimed by the Entity in 1881.
Anna the Huntress's archive, A Lovely War doesn't exactly help narrow her place in the timeline because she was already well established. She comes from WWI. During the last paragraph of her backstory, it is mentioned that German soldiers are "on the march to attack the collapsing Russian Empire." Notice it says RUSSIAN rather than SOVIET. Germany declared war on the Russian empire in 1914. Instead, it focuses on how she reacted to the invading Germans. We also learn that her father was murdered by soldiers, according to her mother. Perhaps this is the reason why they retreated to the wilderness in the first place. She was taken by the Entity after the war ended, in 1918.
The first Killer archive, Blood, Brass and Grit, gives us a look at Evan MacMillan's childhood before becoming the Trapper. We learn that he is from Seattle and the workers at his father's mine are planning on getting the union involved. In Seattle, there was a union strike in February of 1919. I point this out as it involves unions and took place in Seattle. If the MacMillan workers were trying to get the union involved, then this event either took place already, or is about to. We also learn that Evan's uncle and mother were murdered by Archie an unspecified time earlier. Eventually, Evan's friendship with the workers is discovered after his friends sell him and his sketches out.
Sally the Nurse appears to either be around the time of WWI or WWII, judging by her outfit. If she is from WWI (EDIT: March 6: Which I believe to be the case due to her base outfit saying it is from the early 1920's, not mid), it would make her the third oldest Killer. But if she is from WWII, then Kenneth/Jeffrey begins before her. But his is a bit complicated, and will span a few other Killers' backstories.
Either way, since two decades pass during Sally's backstory, and I don't think they would change the Nurse dress code simply because of money restrictions, her story seems to end around (based on her being from WWI) the 1930's (EDIT March 19: which her base cosmetic description seems to infer) or (based on her being from WWII) the 1950's-1960's. She kills everyone in the asylum and presumably crashes the ambulance, killing everyone in it, before getting the Entity treatment
As I said, Kenneth's backstory takes place over a long time. We actually have an exact year for it's beginning. "Kenneth Chase was born in 1932 by a difficult labour, which his mother wouldn't survive." Doesn't get any more crystal clear. The last year mentioned is 1954.
Given that Evan and his father very clearly don't allow a union, they are either relatively new or really picking up speed. And given their extreme measures, I would believe unions to be nearing their peak in all honesty (also, since unions were around since 1881, they can't be a new thing, since Anna's story occurs well after that, and remember, she is the second. Obviously, Evan blows people up, and the Entity gets him.
I originally placed Evan in 1954, which could still hold true. If what Rattman says is true and all three of the original Killers are over 30, then the earliest Evan could be taken is 1935. I found this through his age in 1919 (14), subtracting the two, then adding 30. Pretty simple actually. I don't think he's much older than 35 though (it's really hard to tell with that mask and those hooks/scars), so I'll place him around 1940.Ascendance is easily my favorite Archive so far. It's graphic as hell, but is also full of dark humor. It also gives us a reliable timeframe for Doctor Herman Carter. His Archive mentions PAPERCLIP, BLUEBIRD, MKULTRA, MKDELTA and MKSEARCH. Since he has knowledge of all of these, we just have to know when these projects happened. PAPERCLIP lasted from 1946 to 1959, and consisted largely of former Nazi scientists. BLUEBIRD began in 1951, but I had trouble pinning the details down. Something about hypnotism in the official document from the CIA website, but I'm not going through a 29 page document for something minor. MKULTRA is the one everyone knows, and, alongside MKDELTA, it began in 1953. MKSEARCH is the last one, beginning in 1964, attempting to find the ultimate truth serum. Herman had knowledge of it, so it had to have been after this. He was inducted into MKAWAKENING, which he would begin spearheading later on.
Kenneth, now going by the name of Jeffrey, goes on for another decade, bringing us to the 1960's once again. I honestly can't tell how much time passes, but eventually, he rides his carriage into the Entity's realm. I'd say this takes place around the 1970's, but again, there are no real markers to tell us.
We pick back up for a brief moment for Herman for the 1970's, as the Institute thrived, and he began to spearhead MKAWAKENING. But there isn't too much else to tell for a little bit.
I'm just going to put Lisa the Hag here, in the 1970's, but she is one of the really annoying ones. There are NO markers to tell us when her story takes place (except for a few things about her home being from the 1800's, like the lightbulbs and paddleboats, but she wasn't before Anna), but I'm placing her here since, from what I can tell, the 1970's brought a resurgence of witch culture, which Lisa has plenty of. Even her WIP name was the Witch. But again, her story could have taken place at any time.
Hillbilly is in the same boat. I would place Hillbilly sometime between the 1970's and 1980's, which is when the Poulan 306a was in production. Why is this important. Well... once again, there are no significant markers for Hillbilly, but I would assume he and Leatherface use the same chainsaw. (EDIT March 19, they VERY clearly don't use the same chainsaw. Just compare them for yourself at the store. I did however, while looking through things, noticed that the Coldwind Farm says "After the horrific events of 1972, the building fell into disrepair and eventual ruin." on the Thompson House map. So, that might be the best time to put him.) If someone can actually tell me what model of chainsaw Hillbilly (who is UNNAMED officially, but the wiki calls him Max Jr. [Edit - as DocOctober brought up, he is named Max Thompson Jr. in an official artbook, although his lore makes no mention of it for some reason) uses, then do so. I'm not a chainsaw expert. EDIT: Several people have pointed a thing out that I'll talk about in a second.
Rin is the MOST complicated. Her story has no years, no significant events to talk about, and none of her add-ons help. I thought that her baseball cap would be something, but sport caps were invented in 1849, which is WAY before Anna. Then something caught my eye. "That evening, Rin came home from work. She'd stayed late to entertain customers that lingered at the restaurant. As she parked her bike in the shed, she heard her mother's scream the house."
As she parked her bike (I have no clue how to increase the font size here, so bolding will do). What's the relevance of this? Bikes weren't introduced to Japan until 1971! I can't place her exactly, but I can tell her story takes place after this. We will have to deal with this.
Of course, that was no help. As GamingZebra pointed out, the Japanese military used bikes in their invasion of China in WWII. So Rin is a serious issue that needs addressing. She is probably pretty modern, as PigNRun says, since she was working at a young age and her father was a salary person, but we might have to wait for something more concrete with her (got it, as I'll explain below). If you count the licensed Killers as canon (which I do), then Leatherface arrived in 1973. Having actually watched the movie that came out in 1974, I know that the events of the first movie (where Leatherface actually comes from based on his last few paragraphs) took place on August 18, 1973.
Same goes for Michael Myers. Halloween was released in 1978, but I can actually find the timeline there. The movie starts in 1963, then 15 years later, Michael goes on his killing spree. 1963 + 15 equals 1978, so that adds up. But I am not putting Freddy here, because, like it or not, the in game Freddy is from the remake.
I had no idea where to place Lisa Sherwood, our lovable Hag, for the longest time. I always stood by the 1970's due to a resurgence in witch culture at that time. However, in Stroke of Luck, we can see people at the funeral wearing bell bottoms. There is another guy with an afro, African Americans and Caucasians are intermingling with little problem (that we can see), and Pam's English teacher was a "pill-popping bore." All of these were things that happened in the 1980's. Are all of these connections loose as all Hell. Yes, but it's the first true information we have in regards to Lisa's placement in the timeline. I'll take it.
EDIT (January 17): The Léry's Memorial Institute was condemned in 1983, allowing us to take a break from licensed killers and finishing off Herman Carter. After his experiments become torture to find mind control (which, let's be honest, they already were), he murders everyone and the Entity finds him.
Also in 1983 (winter, probably after Doctor was taken), we have the Demogorgon... I think. I've never seen Stranger Things, don't have Netflix, so everything I know about it is from the wiki for Stranger Things. Now, from what I can tell, the main Demogorgon that was seen was in Season One, taking place in 1983, with the ones in Season Two not being full grown, and only being seen in the final scene of Season Three. Seems pretty self explanatory.
Then I read the items. We have things from Season One (Barb's Glasses) and Season Two (Mew's Guts). This throws everything out of order. On top of this, the map is a mish-mash of everything AND some original stuff, and the Survivors are wearing their Season One outfits by default, but their quotes are from all over the place. And the lore is VERY vague about everything to do with Chapter 13 (and I hate this kind of lazy storytelling). Even the way the Demogorgon was taken is not in its backstory, but rather hidden away IN ITS POWER!!! And it was just a hole that opened up and swallowed it. Nothing about how the Entity controls it, or how the Demogorgon reacted. Nope. Just a hole in the ground and boom, we have a Demogorgon.
Through all of this, I have lost my mind several times over, and still can't confidently place it. So why 1983? It makes sense. This is the Demogorgon that we saw in the first season (well, everyone but me it seems). I mean, sure. This could just be some RANDOM Demogorgon that the Entity RANDOMLY decided to grab... but that's just boring. And it matches with the design of Nancy and Steve being from Season One (and say what you will about them being older than 16 and 17, even in Season Three, they are 18 and 19, still below the normal age. You say they are from Season Three, you break the "No teenagers" rule, and you will have a hard time explaining it away. Avoiding bad PR is good, but you can't expect everyone to believe it forever). This IS the ORIGINAL Demogorgon. It's the only thing that makes sense. And yes, I read that the original got blown up or something... but be honest. Do you REALLY want a boring, RANDOM Demogorgon over the original one that we had?
(EDIT: October 15) So. We have a problem. As Mikeadatrix pointed out, the Demogorgon we have uses the Season 3 model, seen at the very end. Because I have never seen the show, I assumed they were pretty much the same model from the first season, but it turns out they are not. From a logical standpoint, and the one I now believe to be most likely, this makes this the Season 3 Demogorgon. It makes sense. The items, quotes, map, everything. It works with this being the Season 3 Demogorgon. From a story standpoint, however, it's... disappointing. And it just doesn't feel right. It makes sense, but it doesn't, if that makes any sense. I guess it's better than a RANDOM Demogorgon, but not by much. So, 1985 is my current final answer. It's impossible to tell when Lisa Sherwood was actually taken, but she was 16 in her Stroke of Luck, so she could have been taken in the tail end of the 80's.
Next up, we have Philip the Wraith. I put him in the 1990's as this was when the Russian mob appears to have been the most active. Why am I talking about the Russian mob? Philip's boss is named Azarov. Azarov is a Russian surname. He disposes of people using a car crusher. To me, that seems like a VERY mob-like way to get rid of someone. On a side note, why DID the Entity take Philip. Is it the same as Rin, where the Entity picked up on his anger or something?
I'm going to place Rin Yamaoka's archive, Steeped in Blood (which horribly butchers her name by the way), around 1991-ish. We know she practiced kendo, but that honestly doesn't help. At all, since kendo became popular among women from 1960-1970. We do learn that, during her kendo training, Rin is in junior high. We know that she would later go to Takamatsu University (see below), which is where I got this timeframe. She seems to be on the older end of junior high (14-15), so I added 15 to her birth year (which I assumed she was 20 when she went to Takamatsu since she does not look much older than that, and found 1976, but that's honestly quite finicky), and that is how I got 1991. Obviously, give or take a few years, depending on the real, unknown numbers). We also learned that the Entity has been trying to get her father for a LONG time.
For all the hell that Chapter 12 was, from Danny Johnson's initial powerlessness to not having a map or Survivor, there is one thing that they did pretty well. The lore. Told in the style of a newspaper, we get to somewhat know who Danny/Jed Olsen/Ghost Face really is. And they give us a pretty much exact date. The newspaper is a week old, published on June 18, 1993 (can we just appreciate how this is also his release date? Again, for the hell that it has been, BHVR has seriously impressed me as well). So he was taken roughly around June 25, 1993. Thanks for making my job easier here.
As I've stated before, I usually don't consider cosmetics canon, but the Legion is different. Joey's Reaper-esque sweater/mask and Susie's pink haired sweater are both seen in the teasers for them and in their portrait. Through Susie, as well as the group photo that sends you to Ormond, we can establish that they were taken in 1996 at the earliest, something that Soldiers of Mayhem doesn't actually seem to retcon. Which, given how much of a disaster the rest of the archive was, is a good thing. I only have one explanation for this, and it's something that others have theorized. Memories vs Reality. In reality, Frank came up with the name, paying Jeff Johansen to paint it. Perhaps Julie saw this and forgot it later, but the image stuck with her. Same for her stabbing the janitor second instead of Joey. That was a traumatic event, and memories are generally mixed during them.
Rin was an issue to place for a long time. It wasn't until January 15, 2019 that it finally clicked in my head to check her university, Takamatsu University. I learned that it wasn't founded until 1996. This made that year the earliest she could have been taken. And she was likely taken later than that. She goes home one day to find her father performing his own vision of Kazan's rampage, he cuts her all to hell, and her wrath, established to have been growing since she was about 15-ish in her archive, got the Entity's attention, leading to her being taken instead of her father.
The Coldwind Farm map, Torment Creek, mentions a storm in 2003 that knocked down the silo. We know the Entity takes the realms from the Killers' memories, and Coldwind Farm is Hillbilly's realm. Which means he was likely around at this time... maybe. Something to think about, but I don't have time to fully write it out right now.
This may seem odd, but I'm placing Executioner Pyramid Head around 2003-2004 instead of the 90s like Silent Hill 2 took place. Yes, I know. BHVR have stated that our Pyramid Head was ripped straight from the mind of James Sunderland... but they themselves are the reason for this placement. According to the DBD Gamepedia, the description for the P3 Pyramid Head says "A manifestation of guilt, this punishing force took shape in Cheryl's dreams and tormented her with nightmarish visions of gore." As I said with Caleb, I may not consider cosmetics to be canon, but their descriptions are fair game. Silent Hill 3 takes place in 2003 (according to 90% of sources I can find, since I've never played the games), and Cheryl (you can't make me call her Heather, even though I much prefer that name) was taken AFTER those events. There doesn't seem to be a clear time she was taken, but I'd say anywhere from a few months to a year, hence 2003-2004.
The final two are easy. Amanda's story includes her death from Saw III. "She failed the test and took a bullet as a consequence. Bleeding out on the tiled floor, darkness engulfed Amanda's vision, accompanied by a sound like creaking wood." With Saw III being released in 2006, it feels to me like that is when her story takes place, but, if I'll be honest, the timeline of Saw makes this really hard to pin down.
And once again, Freddy Krueger is from the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, likely because they couldn't get the rights to Robert Englund's character, so they settled with Jackie Earle Haley instead (I know people are going to hate me for this, but I like this version of Freddy a little bit more, just without the sexual predator part. Englund's version got a bit too comical, and I like the burn effects).

Dude some of those nurses downes against my team in 30 seconds in each chase or less and got 2 of my team sacrifices and I ran her for ~3.5 gens with ONE teammate working on gens.
They were "Good" but due to the "No True Scotsmen" fallacy which YOUR PROVING people call them bad.
I faced a Nurse yesterday who wasn't good (holding w and breaking line of sight was enough, I just went down in the end when I got cocky) but two of my teammates went down to her super quickly, but that doesn't mean that the Nurse was good.

To answer your questions. 1 no I get bored and upset but I don't want to die over a game. 2 imagine if that person really did pull the plug, can you imagine the everlasting guilt the OP would have? It would be horrible. And that's why I say that was a dick move. Expressing discomfort with how someone plays is fine. Telling them their playstyle makes you wanna end your life isn't. For example I hate forever freddy, does that mean I'll go to a forever freddy player and tell them that they make me wanna go kill myself? No because that's just wrong. If you get that upset over a game you need a break from the game or video games in general.
I think you're overreacting a bit. "This game is so boring I want to die" is a common enough Phrase that most people should know how it's meant. Yeah it's insenstive, but nowhere close to death threads imo. Annoying, but I would assume, that most people would react to that with something like: "Not my job to make sure you have fun."
Also, to be a bit morbid: If someone really kills themself over a match that they played against you, you would most likely never find out about it because of the anonymity.

It's a decision the survivor(s) have to make
What part about the killer opening a gate is the survivors devision?
Also I don't think the Devs would remove old ruin to bring it back as a perk tier.
And in general I agree with other people in this threat, giving every perk three atleast somewhat useful effects would be a huge effort and making it inconsistent with some perks having tiers and others not sounds just messy to me.

Well the survivors would have to learn how to play around it
There is no real playing around it, egc will be active and the killer can just stand in front of the gate.
Sure, one gate has to be open, and your point is probably something like "the survivors can just open the gate and leave" but not all survivor are the same gate at the same time, depending on the size and layout of the map, if somebody is still hooked etc. Also the killer can just open one gate and then close it again. Depending on the size of the map, his mobility, traps etc he should be able to be back in time to the other gate and then block it.

If they actually do the pick per killer stats, that's amazing and I'm ok with that, didn't know about it
Atleast they plan to do so, we'll have to wait and see if the system will work in the future. (I'm still not convinced that the positive effects will be worth the negatives though.)

Today, we have enabled the first phase of our new Matchmaking System for all regions on Xbox One. Read on for more info on our next steps for rolling out the new system!
Update August 3, 2020 : NOW ACTIVATED ON PC AND CONSOLES.
We have been running smaller tests of the system on select Xbox One regions for the past few weeks, and the results have been encouraging. The rollout on all Xbox One regions is the next step in testing the system on a wider audience. If all goes well, we are planning on rolling out this feature for all platforms in a couple of weeks.
The next phase that you will notice goes live with the upcoming mid-chapter update: We are no longer allowing Killers to switch their character while searching for a match, or once in a lobby (excluding Custom Matches). This will allow the new Matchmaking System to track player skill with each killer individually and match them against more appropriately skilled opponents based on their killer selection.
To put it simply: If you are great with The Oni but you struggle with The Nurse, you will now be playing against stronger survivors when you play The Oni than you do with The Nurse.
What does this mean?
The most obvious thing you will see when the new system is active is that there will be a greater variation of Ranks in a single match. Rank 1s playing Rank 20s? It’s possible, don’t panic when you see this, as Ranks are not a true indicator of a player’s skill and are no longer used for matchmaking.
Additionally, this system comes with a revamped algorithm for matchmaking as a whole. This should improve wait times for finding matches, and we will continue to tweak this part of the system to improve them further over the coming months.
Why replace Ranks?
Ranks are not a great way of figuring out how good a player is at the game, because it primarily focuses on "How often you play" and not on "How skilled you are when you play". Based on our matchmaking studies, there are a great deal of “low” ranked players (15-20) who can easily play just as well as “high” ranked players (1-5), but they simply don’t play enough games in a month to increase their rank before they reset on the 13th. And as an inverse, there are Rank 1 -5 players who perform at levels more typical of lower ranks but they play so many games that their rank is higher than expected. This results in unpredictable games: All five players may have the exact same rank but wildly different skill levels in practice, making matches unbalanced.
How are Ratings better?
The new Rating system is focused on measuring a player’s skill and predicting how they will perform against a given opponent. This way we can build matches that are more objectively fair for everyone in the game. We have analyzed over 3 million games (at last count) during our tests, and the matchmaking system is proving to be extremely accurate at predicting the outcomes of matches.
By using this new system, we will be able to place players into more balanced matches more often. When a match is unbalanced, the system will know exactly how unbalanced it is and adjust the player Ratings accordingly.
Why are there still Ranks?
Matchmaking has been and continues to be one of the hottest topics we hear about, and we have been listening! To get this implemented as quickly as possible, we have decided to roll it out independent of a rework of the Rank system. That doesn’t mean we don’t have plans for Ranks, however! We are exploring different ideas like turning them into a monthly activity tracker and reward system, when we are ready, we'll communicate more about that
I still have questions!
That’s great! We are planning on doing more posts explaining the system in detail, as well as Q&As with the developers who have been working on it. Keep your eyes on the forums and official Dead by Daylight social media channels to learn more.

Recently, we've asked you for questions about the 4.1.0 update. We've gathered a few of the most upvoted questions and had them answered by the team. We're hoping to update this post with answers to more questions sometime next week.
Q: Why change the auras?
The auras were the source of quite a few technical headaches. The rework of the aura system was intended to give our programming teams cleaner code and a more stable aura system. Unfortunately, this had some unintended side effects on visibility. We heard your feedback and are working to improve their visibility. We will have a temporary fix in place shortly as we continue to work on a more permanent solution.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QDX60AP52KH3/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
Q: What was the thought process behind the Mother’s Helpers and Black Grease add-ons?
The thought process behind both add-ons was to have a miniature version of the Hillbilly’s perks, specifically “Enduring” and “Lightborn”. So, we tried giving something to the killer for being stunned or for being blinded/having a flashlight pointing at you.
We understand that these add-ons weren’t very popular, so we’ll be making changes to both of them (along with many other add-ons) in the next update.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6FU6E577A57S/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
Q: Where is the Server Side Hit Validation?
The server side hit validation was originally planned to be tested out during the PTB. Unfortunately, there was an issue with how servers were selected on the PTB which caused most players to experience high latency, so testing the hit validation on that build would have been counter-productive. We will be running a limited test of the hit validation system on the Live version of the game in the coming weeks in order to gather feedback and data about its performance, with the hope of finalizing the feature in the near future!
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Y7W4XR5JR7UR/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
Q: You’ve said that you want legendary outfits to have unique animations/sounds. Why doesn’t the Minotaur outfit?
To clarify, we have only mentioned that we would like to do so in the future.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/RR6NXEG9EWWR/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
Q: Why does Knock Out require a basic attack now?
There were a few killers/builds on which knock out could be particularly powerful. To mitigate that, we’ve made it basic attacks only. We’ll be monitoring the perk to see how it performs.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LAU4R21G9XV8/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
Q: Why is the game freezing every 10 seconds?
There was an issue in the most recent update which caused a hitch whenever the friends system would attempt to sync. For the time being, we have greatly increased the amount of time between syncs to prevent these hitches from happening as we work on implementing permanent solution. This temporary fix is already in effect and does not require a game update. In the meantime, you can force your friends to list to update by restarting the game.

Q: For Killer specific Matchmaking: How will ratings work for newly released Killers? (e.g. Do you start from 0, or is it based on your other ratings?)
Every time you start playing a Killer that you haven’t played before (either because they have just been released, or because you have decided to try something new to you), your rating with that killer is weighted based off your ratings with other killers. If your Rating is relatively high with your other killers, then your default rating with a new killer will be weighted upwards somewhat. Regardless of where this weighted rating ends up, the system zeros in on a 90%+ accuracy within ~10 matches. The intention is to give you a head start towards playing balanced (and fun!) matches as quickly as possible.

We've selected a few questions from the community about the new matchmaking system and had them answered by the team.
- I know you’re looking at skill across different killers but are you looking at skill across different survivors too? even though survivors are just skins, we still have to grind for open perk slots which, for a less experienced survivor like myself, that’s a big deal
Generally speaking, the performance difference between a low level survivor (as in, the character level is low) and a high level survivor for a given player isn’t statistically extreme. It also changes very quickly, relatively speaking: It doesn’t take that many games for a low level survivor to get to a reasonable level. To complicate it further, it can even happen over “0” games, if you got the BP from some other means! All that said, we’re going to keep an eye on this and see if it plays out differently in reality, and potentially modify the system to take this into account.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/150WZBYV10VT/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
- Can we get a little insight into how SWF matchups will be balanced in the new system?
Currently, SWF groups will calculate an average rating of the players in the group, and then the matchmaking system will attempt to find an opponent based off that average. We will be monitoring this and the results it gives in the real world, and may tweak the formula to produce better results if we identify any problems.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/07DXKY7XE8V0/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
- How is it gonna be fair to those that are new as a survivor? I feel bad for them
We’re specifically monitoring the experience of new players to ensure the system doesn’t immediately throw them games where they are hopelessly outmatched, and we have a few techniques that we’re implementing already to help with this. Lots of technical / mathematic details, but the basic effect will be that new players tend to get matched at a lower skill rating while they’re still new.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TGFAZUA81XL9/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
- So after reading this post why aren't the current ranks not weighted in the starting skill rating for the player base?
We’ve already been running the skill rating calculation in the background for several months, in order to collect data and to validate some elements of our approach. Anyone who has been playing regularly in that time will already have a loosely calibrated skill rating to start with, which will be refined with each game they play now that the system is live.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FNM6B04UNAD6/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
- Is it taken into consideration if players have returned from the game after a long hiatus. Some examples are some people returning after a year or even two.
Without getting into extreme mathimatical details: Yes, the system does take how long it has been since you last played into account with the rating system.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/OQ1TAUEV9UFQ/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
- Why are ranks so mismatched now?
The Matchmaking News post we made went into detail about this, but to summarize: Ranks are mostly a measure of how much you play in a given month, and doesn’t have a very good correlation with game skill. Skill rating is completely driven by how skilled you are at the game, so there will be some divergence between the two. The rank system will be getting updated Soon(tm) to reflect this difference.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/20LI55NFCJ4C/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
- Why are we keeping the skill rating hidden?
For every player who gets really excited at the prospect of seeing their skill rating, there is another player who dreads it. For now, to encourage everyone to play the game the best they can, we are keeping the skill rating hidden. We have plans to expose it somewhat in the future, but nothing to announce at this time.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/01VR4OI1EPR4/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
- What will it mean to Ranks in the Tally Screen?
Right now, the Emblem system / Rank system is being left as-is. We wanted to get the skill rating system out and in player’s hands as quickly as possible. The rank system will be getting updated Soon(tm).
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/A1KXBT9T9HR6/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
- Is the rating started counting now, or already set from past performance?
Ratings are initially based on your performance over the last few months, while the system has been collecting data in the background.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5HFZKHX7LQ75/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
- What are the factors that affect the ratings?
Ratings change based on how you perform in a match while taking your opponents rating into account. If you outplay an opponent who has a much higher rating than yours, then your rating will be adjusted quite a bit. If you outplay an opponent who had a lower rating than yours, then the adjustment is quite small.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V7FFIZ2GXWC6/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png
Other
- Does this mean that those with different NAT types that weren't able to play together before (unless they had a connection with the lobby leader) can now play together?
The skill rating has not direct relation to NAT and network connectivity, as it is used to determine who matches together. As long as your NAT type allows you to connect to the dedicated server, you should be fine to play with anyone else (who can also connect to the dedicated server, of course). Since we are now using servers instead of P2P, NAT incompatibilities are less of an issue.

I wouldnt call it "blame". You still can dodge the lobby. No problem
It still sucks though because that increases your waiting time, when a Lobby would have been totally fine with a different Killer (4man blendette squad vs Doc, 4 medkits vs Plague, flashlights against lightborn.. ).
In my opinion the matchmaking should stay general for the killers and the Devs should add a training mode instead.

I don't get it, we all know killer is the weak side, in my OPINION and my experience (this means I cannot generalize) survivor is way easier than killer, and I play both the same, rank 1 both sides.
How is that related to killer specific matchmaking?
Maybe you missed it: The Devs want to implement a system that matches you with survivors based on your skill with the specific killer you selected for that round, for example, if you're really good with GF you should get better Survs, if you are really bad with Nurse, you should also get survivors who are a bit weaker. If you want this system to work, you have to lock the killer, because you could search for a lobby with Demo and get Rank 20 survs and then switch to GF and demolish them.
The system was shortly active with MMR, but MMR didn't worked so they disabled it, but the Devs want to enable it again in the future, so the killer lock is still there.
-
A bit unrelated but you can blame the community for the killer lock. So many people asked for Killer specific matchmaking and apparently didn't think that through (because killer specific matchmaking doesn't make sense if you can switch the killer in the lobby). The Devs listened and want to implement it.
It isn't active at the moment, I know, maybe further MMR-Test are easier with the lock, maybe the Devs are just lazy, who knows, still the community is to blame for this feature imo.

Totally agree. Plague has an amazing design, I was really hyped for her when I first saw her on the PTB, I was talking to my friend the whole time "Man, she looks so good". And it is true, Plagues basic design looks great and IMO she has one of the best Prestiges in the game.
But as you said, all of her Cosmetics look quite uninspired. Its always Plague.
I guess you cannot do that much to her, because she is such an old character. But there were some Plague Cosmetics which caught my eye in the Design Contest and they were not out of space at all. Maybe I can find one of them, but overall, yes, she could get some variation in her Cosmetics.
I was really sad that a Claudette and Legion set won, don't get me wrong, the artists did an amazing Job, but I would have liked it if a cosmetic for the less popular characters (with fewer outfit choices ingame) had won.
I liked these Plague outfits from the contest:

Go to the same Option where you enabled the PTB.
Choose the option "None-sign off every PTB" (my steam is in german, so your text might be a bit different)

Pick yourself up if your downed if someone has a hex any amount of times and also if your healed a health state (which includes picking yourself up from the perk) you get borrowed time for 8 seconds and you dont get deep wounds I think
Soul guard only activates when you get picked up (or pick yourself up) from dying state, not on other health state. And you have to mend.
I think people overrate this perk. The DS, Unbreakable, Soul Guard combination may be annoying, but I think that's more on DS and Unbreakable.
Soul Guard on its own though.. I've played it for quite some time, because I really like the concept but it's really situational. I was able to use the endurance effect twice in all the time (both in SWF!), the standing up on your own part came never in play for me. You don't see hex perks super often and even if the killer has a hex perk, he still needs to slug to make soul guard come in play:
Ruin: In my experience killer tend to slug more late in the game, Ruin might be cleansed by then.
Haunted grounds: Doesn't count for soul guard, you are only exposed, not cursed.
Devour Hope: The killers I faced just hooked the people to get the Stacks.
Thrill of the hunt: Only faced it in combination with Devour, so no slug.
Noed: I expected to see Killers with Noed who slug, but most just hooked the survivor instantly. (Maybe they just wanted to secure the kill or were afraid of soul guard, idk)
So that was my experience with soul guard, like I said, I think it's a really cool perk, but also situational. I will bring it again with the new Killer, but I'm not sure if I will have better results.
On the topic of the post: Felix's perks aren't great but complaining about the killer perks doesn't make them better. And having new killer perks that might change the meta a bit sounds good to me.

12 hours to do that challenge? Kinda hard to believe that. As healing survivors counts towards that challenge you know...?
Damm... ppl complain about everything. This game its +18 mature audience and it seems like its filled with call of duty kids.
Only when you heal with another survivor, which takes about 8 seconds so you won't get much progress for the challenge with healing.
12 hours still seems unrealistic though.

Now protects ur item & addons in any case cuz without this offering u lose the addons of ur items (u can use ace in the hole too but it's a waste perk slot) but if the killer use franklin's demise , this offering don't save ur item lol
Not in any case (unless the Devs changed it recently and I missed that change).

He seems to be the type of person who likes to talk down to others to make himself feel better (or maybe because his viewers like it, idk). My points is, don't listen to him, he is rude all the time to all kinds of players.

I've played with soul guard for a while now, the main effect helped me only two times, both in SWF, I was never able to use the secondary effect, so on its own soul guard is very situational in my opinion.
The combination with unbreakable might work better though, atleast I have seen videos where people used it sucessfully.

I'mma need both of yall to go back to school because that's not how probability works.
Failing the first attempt does not stack with the 2nd attempt and each attempt after. It stays 16% for each attempt
It does change with the amount of attempts, otherwise slippery meat would be completely useless.
It's the same principle as pulling bowls of a specific colour out of bag.

I would recommend to have a lock at the Wiki-Page, because it explains the perk and has a chart with the different repair speeds:

We already have the Demon Slayer cosmetic? As I have it on my Feng currently.
Look at the dates. This post is from August/September 2019.

I'm a little confused about the difference between URL and SteamID64. The URL is the link to the profile right?
So were do you get the SteamID?

As others mentioned it's not really a good fit for dbd, I'm also pretty sure that it's banned in some countries, so I think we are safe.

It was probably considered "glasmorizing alcohol"... Not sure if that's the correct word for it but that's what it would be called in central EU.
Really sad what we've become, if you see a bottle of beer or a cigar people already get triggered
"OH MY GOD BAN THIS MOVIE, IT PROMOTES DRINKING ALCOHOL AND SMOKING CIGARS!"
Are you sure about that?
Dbd is an 18+ game, most european countries require you to be 18 to buy alcohol so why would you be strict about alcohol in an 18+ game?
Also Clown still has VHS Porn and Cheap Gin Bottle, as far as I know.
