3 man SWF with all the meta perks against the weakest killer in the game and all running absolutely miles towards the nearest pallet as soon as they heard the lullaby, couldn't even get close to them because they'd be halfway across the map.
I had them in the previous game as well and they all died because they kept trying to click macro me, didn't get a single GG then but as soon as they get the gate open and there's nothing I can do it's "GG EZ".
And then instead of leaving they stand there doing this and destroying my eardrums, can we like have the entity kick them out of the game once they open the gate?

Edit: Oh and they had a boon ######### knows where on the map and as soon as someone DID get injured they'd disappear and heal up and come back.
Yes, survivors can be really crappy.
However, I try not to let crappy people make me treat other people crappily, because that just becomes a big crappy circle of crap where everyone craps on each other, and once all the crap piles up we all drown.

I can confirm that it's part of the matchmaking tests, not a bug. As for what else changed today, that will remain a mystery until later on.
I'm going to make a prediction :)
It's either:
- We're matchmaking off ranks again
- It's a placebo to see if people's perception of matchmaking improves when they can't see the ranks (people come in late in the month, see that their Ash IV is getting matched against a team of Iri 1 and freak out). The timing makes me 90% sure it's this one.
Curious. I will say my matches have been wild this morning, but it could just be luck.

Lots of killers could use at least an addon pass, for sure.
Personally when it comes to basekit, I'd like Myers next after Twins. He could use a little modernising.
Myers and Pig, yeah.
Myers needs a few addons nerfed, a lot of addons buffed (or at least adjusted rarity wise - the green 'longer T3' is numerically inferior to the purple 'longer T3', Scratched Mirror should be a brown, Vanity a yellow etc.). He then needs something to either help him in chase, or some sort of traversal. Otz's recent games trying to place Myers on a tier list...there's nothing quite like watching survivors run infinite T3 Myers for an entire match without using an exhaustion perk on Cowshed.
Maybe give him his longer lunge and faster vault baseline, and increase these further in T3?
Pig...total addon rework. Bake some of the Ambush ones in baseline. Iri tape needs to do something else, AFK Popper Pig is probably the worst thing in the game at present.
Honestly, her traps basically require tunneling to be effective, and that's no fun either.
I'm not quite sure how I'd fix her, but she needs to be both better and less annoying.

MMR is in 99% of competitive games; it is indeed a competitive ranking system; it works on the principal of you getting higher quality matches that's indeed competitive. MMR, by it's, own definition, is competitive.
Yes. Because competitive games need good matchmaking. This doesn't mean that MMR is 'competitive', it means that it tends to produce better matchmaking than other systems.
You've gone 'A' =
'C' =
Therefore A = C
When it actually looks more like:
'A' = 'B'
'C' = requires 'B'.
Therefore 'A' and 'C' are correlated via 'B', but 'A' does not equal 'C'.
Correlation does not always mean causation.

Hard disagree it would be admitting MMR doesn't work in this game which it doesn't it also doesn't protect new players because people can still downgrade their MMR for easier matches.
Smurfing will always be a thing, but it was infinitely worse under ranks. We even had Fog Whisperers doing it openly.

MMR is designed for games that have taken the steps to implement Behavior skipped past those steps and instead pushed it live, and that's the reason its hated so much also yes, it doesn't work period nothing is wrong with it being casual but casual games don't use competitive ranking systems.
I started in the heyday of ranks.
SBMM is way better. The system still parks a turd occasionally, but I'd say the majority of my games now feel at least somewhat even. A few days during the matchmaking tests felt even better!
How do I know MMR works? Veteran players are complaining about games being more difficult.
This means they're getting matched against fewer newbies.

God, I hope not. Going back to that nightmare would be a straight downgrade.
It's not. They've been talking about it for a bit. Grade is now hidden, because people kept assuming that it was connected to matchmaking and getting annoyed, especially if they come in at the end of the month and it looks very uneven.

They're next, iirc. After seeing how well Legion and Ghosty were handled, I'm pretty psyched to see it myself!
I'll have to see how the GF rework feels - but I like Legion's rework, they'll probably move up to B tier.
I'm personally holding out for Sadako, Wraith and Pig love (that sounded funny), maybe a few addon passes on Freddy, Hag, Artist and other killers with too many boring, useless or just meh addons.

You saying something doesn't exist doesn't make it not exist.
Tunneling just exist, which comes from someone having tunnel vision and focusing on another player, even when they aren't the easiest target, ignoring everyone else.
Ah.
Well, in that case you're saying that tunneling has a purely subjective existence.
But okay, my perspective on 'tunneling'.
Going after someone right off hook is a schmucky thing to do at 5 gens, but if you're up against a strong team/map or are really struggling, it's sometimes the only realistic way to win.
It definitely grinds my grapes on survivor.
What you're missing, though is that - at the end of the day - it's your team's responsibility to keep you alive. Survivor isn't a solo role. They should be bodyblocking, pallet saving, bringing real perks and ensuring that damage is distributed evenly.

It does exist, or we wouldn't all understand it in the parlance of DBD.
Does it matter? Well that is a much different debate.
It exists semantically.
It doesn't exist as any sort of rule, particularly not something that's reportable.
This is actually a pretty good example of an Ontological Fallacy - just because we have a word for something, doesn't mean that it has any sort of physical existence. Just ask a passing unicorn.

I play Sadako and she's no where near that weak. You don't need to tunnel off hook to get kills with her, in fact, that makes her worse if you do that.
I'm not sure what you're doing differently then.
I've played a ton with her and watched a lot of folks play her too. Against decent survivors, the only power she really has is her teleport - which is incredibly telegraphed and predictable. Her flickering does sod all.
Yes, if you're really good you can win on her - much as you can win on Pig or Trapper. But being basically a pure M1 killer on Eyrie, Badham, Swamp, Game etc...if she's got some hidden power, I'm just not seeing it.

First of all, I apologize for my poor English, as my native language is not English.
I didn't know where to post this, so I am posting it here.
When I was watching a live streaming video of one of the distributors, there was a person who treated a player as a cheater because he lost, even though he was clearly not a cheater, and he proudly posted the information on Twitter.
I warned him several times that it was not cheating, but he did not listen to me and would not stop exposing people he thought were suspicious.
When I looked at what I had exposed, I found that even wall hacks had even been added, despite the fact that I had said in the distribution that I was "fast on my feet".
Can't the DBD management issue a warning via the official Twitter account regarding this kind of behavior?
I would like to hear from those who have been similarly exposed on Twitter.
@Pepsidot said:
I won't name him but there's a big streamer who will often call me and my friends cheaters and try to belittle us in any way possible despite us doing nothing but playing the game. Make up lies about us too, it's weird - apparently I'm a comp DBD player too that just wants to stomp noobs?
I don't know how these people gained an audience or why people watch them. They're horrible. I'll see people echoing in chat what the streamer says too.
Just wanted to vent that here since it seems like you had a similar experience. It is scary when people with such big audiences publicly name you as a cheater.
Way back when, in the dusty recesses of 2020, I had about 100 hours on killer and found myself thrown up against a semi-well known streamer and his mates who were slumming it at low ranks by deranking, looking to stomp people on stream.
I was playing Hag.
Teabag clicky clicky vault vault, you know the drill.
However, at one point he got cocky and ran into a trap, allowing me to down him, which turned into a few more downs and a fully charged Devour Hope - and I basically lucked into a win.
They called me a cheater and put me on blast on Twitch - resulting in my Steam wall resembling the inside door of a men's room cubicle until I finally (and permanently) made it private.
I reported them and while the other three didn't have anything happen to them, said streamer lost his Twitch account.
There is also a semi-well known streamer from Eastern Europe that plays with blatant cheats (he was featured on an Otz video some months ago if I recall) and while he's been through a dozen DbD accounts and has probably been reported a squillion times, afaik Twitch has never banned him.
Your best bet - report him to Twitch and cross your fingers.

This sincerely is getting annoying anymore. I been getting "reported" or told im getting reported, for playing the game. They (and it feels like it's always the same person on a different gamertag each time). Telling me off. And nothing I do MYSELF to report it is being done, but I cant even text because I've "voilated" policies. What report are against playing this game? I play as the game intends. But I'm Trash?? And reported on for it?
Also, to all survivors: CLARIFY ONCE AND FOR ALL - What is Tunneling.
(Because in my experience, I'm smacking everyone I see in front of me, chasing the wounded for a down, how am I tunneling?, I'm NOT singling ANY One out)
Tunneling - exclusively going after a single survivor off the hook, regardless of other targets, BT, DS or what have you.
In many cases it's an optimal way to play. It's absolutely not against the rules.
If someone says 'I'm reporting you for tunneling' your response is 'go right ahead, get banned for abusing the report system'.

She will be stronger after the next update (Boon nerf, Sloppy buff). I think her teleport is alright (it would be OP if you could just endlessly teleport around without downsides) and her illusive appearence can be quite tricky in chase. She still suffers from all the downsides normal M1 killers have, but i think she's on the upper spectrum of those. You need to get rid of some important pallets quickly and then switch targets at the right time so the other one runs into the dead zones. I never really played her but i play Wraith a lot and i can win with him against a good team if the map isn't totally in their favour.
I've been playing a lot of survivor recently, and the only time I lost to an Onryo was one that was hard tunneling off hook and nobody brought a BT. We still got a 2 out.
Wraith is way better than she is.
- His addons are amazing.
- He can frequently get an easy first hit.
- He can bodyblock and mindgame with his stealth/dash in chase.
The core issue with Onryo is that her flickering does almost nothing. In extremely fringe circumstances it can let her get a sneaky hit, but it's really easy to know where she's going and if there's any doubt you can easily just predrop pallets and go to the next loop. TVs are entirely RNG. Condemn is a nothingburger.

Honestly l believe the devs did an amazing job with the new haddonfield, the map is wonderful and definitely more balanced than it was before which makes me really excited to see the last 2 realms reworked.
Personally l don't think both swamps are as bad as people say they are but it's definitely not one of my favorites. The biggest problem with the swamp is that everything, literally everything is located in the edges of the map like: survivors spawns, totems, chests, loops and even killers powers like trapper and plague who waste a huge amount of time to get their power. This is one of the main things i would change in the swamp.
Mother's dwelling It's definitely the next map I'd like to see reworked, we all know this is one of the worst maps in the game due to its size, hard to find survivors and defend generators because they are all scattered.
Honestly l don't have problems with temple of purgation, It's one of my favorite maps but if you have, tell me your reasons.
One word for you:
Badham.

I dont have crazy hours in dbd like some people, probably 500 hours with 450 hours being survivor. i had a several year break from the game, before dead hard and boons and all the rest were big things.
I saw all the complaints and just assumed what a horrible thing to go against. so initially as i started to play killer recently primarily I was quickly dishearted and tilted as such perks would absolutely annhilate me and i did feel it was unfair and was absolutely hating killer. but as i started to learn the killer game and the particular killers i like i realised that it really is not that bad at all.
- most dead hard users do bad-mediocre on their DH decisions. its also not very common I encounter a full stack DH team(but im probably medium mmr, not high mmr) I after learning the killer game have never felt DH lost me games
- CoH isnt even that annoying most of the time. Its not crazy common someone runs it and you can easily hear it when its up. My issue is how finicky it is to get the prompt to snuff it making me lose valuable seconds.
- 3. BT is annoying but I understand why it exists. there are plenty of killers who are too afraid to leave the hook more than 5 feet. Im ok with camping(face camping is lame and boring for everyone) but I think proxy camping is infinitely superior, gives survivors a chance to play, still gives you chances to check nnearby gens and quickly come back on an unhook to take your pick of 2 juicy targets. Lots of people dont even run the perk anyways, so I also dont find it that bad. If everyone ran that one I would be miffed.
- pallets stopped annoying me so much once i learned i could get annoyed at the god loop for 30 seconds a survivor forces me on or i take 2 seconds and break a pallet and force a move and also have cleared a spot for someone else to find out there is no safety there. I do hate shack tho, if im not trapper. if a surv runs to shack ill usually just abandon and go elsewhere
- clicky clicks and vault spammers. I do DESPISE clicky clicks in your face because im sensitive to strobes but those who do it at the ground to get your attention, doesnt bother me. maybe i didnt even see you and now i heard you. and i can quicly rationalise if your desire to get my attention is because you want me to move away from a gen or hook. If thats the case, click away, ill ignore you. clicky click doesnt do objectives. vault spammers i almost always ignore. your literally advertising to me that you arent doing objectives and usually no where near a gen. vault away. your dead weight and i can ignore you while i can focus on the ones playing. or the ones who try and save hook.
What loses me games is the fact i am so utterly bad at hitting people, i have a 60-70% hit rate when M1. THAT loses me games but is my own fault. i also very easily lose peoples tracks or get turned around and dont know what direction someone went. also my fault, not survs.
What does tilt me is the show off, tbaggers at the end. When you have the gates open just leave instead of rubbing it in my face. But now if the gates are open and i know they are there i just go away and they can tbag by themselves. thanks to all survs who are sportsmanlike
Playing killer IS stressful in a way survivor doesnt come close to. but stop thinking you have to get 3-4ks each game. I look at it, if i get 1 or 2ks i win. i did my job. With that attitude i noticed 3 and 4ks happen more often because my negative emotions about 4 gens down and 0ks no longer cloud my judgement and cause me to make even poorer decisions.
of course it sucks and feels terrible when you get 0ks in a game but i view it as, my MMR just dropped a bit increasing the chance im gonna get a 3-4k game next time.
This has so greatly improved my enjoyment of playing killer, to where ill have ok or 1k, have someone down and let them go. if i start taking my enjoyment in the fun of playing WITH survivors and not against them like an enemy So much tension melts away and they and i have a better time.
It makes me happy when survivors tell me at the end they enjoyed the game. In that way i did my job, of course im supposed to kill them all, but if i kill everyone or kill no one and neither side has fun then whats the point. play for fun and then there is no need for toxicity.
maybe im just not high enough in MMR to truly see the complaints people have but this is my hot take anyways.
I think you answered your own question with your last sentence.
But let's go point by point.
- I'm definitely 'medium' MMR and even at my level, about 2/4, more commonly 3/4 survivors have Dead Hard. And while they aren't perfect - they don't need to be. It doesn't take a strategic genius to press 'E'.
- It's...what? I see this almost every game. Being able to hear it doesn't matter if the killer sites it correctly, as in the right spots it takes a lot of time to go to and cleanse, and generally these are spots where it covers half the map. CoH is so strong at present that with a medkit, a duo can literally heal mid chase.
- BT is fine.
- Okay, pallets on their own aren't a problem. The problem is that certain maps have a lot of safe pallets, meaning that a savvy survivor can waste ages running you around a loop and then drop it. One or two on a map is fine. Above this, combined with strong loops - you have The Game or Cowshed.
- Yeah, there is no defending strobers. Especially since I've had survivors tell me in postgame that they are deliberately trying to give people seizures.
Keep on playing - you'll definitely get better at the game, and you'll probably start to realize just how ridiculous DH and CoH are.

I mean if you deleted Nurse and Blight to technically avoid nerfing them, Spirit still has her mother-daughter ring. But sure, if those three go, they could rebalance the game.
MDR is only a problem when used with her flower addon. And that flower addon is sort of a necessity for us hard of hearing folks.
I personally think that Huntress is substantially more dangerous than Spirit at high MMRs anyway.

He tried a whole lot of things, and eventually settled on that mess because he was looking for consistency and something that synergized with her power.
I've been going at it slightly differently with ye olde PR+DMS+BBQ and she still struggles, because of just how RNG her TVs are and how little survivors seem to care about Condemn.

That's not far off what I'm seeing in terms of common - except for PH (I don't see him much). For me, the common ones are Blight, Huntress, Nurse, Bubba, Nemesis in that order.
I see a good few Myers, Wraiths, Artists, Legions and Slingers.

Not perks that need changes because they are bad and useless. I'm talking about perks which are problematic in the way they affect the game. For example, dead hard, NOED, boons in general, stuff like old boil over, or it could even be a combination of perks that are problems when used together.
Give me suggestions and why you think they are problems that need addressing! I'm hoping to make a big video where I discuss them all and propose reworks for each.
I'll avoid the obvious ones, as other people will talk about them.
On killer, I honestly can't think of many that are too strong, but plenty that are too weak. Predator, MS, TI etc.
NOED might need a look, but I could go either way on that perk.
Survivor:
Spine Chill. Should not work on undetectable. It's ridiculous how two entire killers (GF, Myers) get hard countered by a common perk.
Iron Will. Stridor should counter this better.
Boil Over. This perk just needs to be replaced with something else entirely. It's not good, but is just annoying to play against.
Boons. Not in the way you're thinking, but more that they blind counter a perk a lot of people were excited about (Pentimento) like nobody's business. You should be able to Penti boons after you snuff them.
Also a lot of useless perks that need reworking though.

Really, most (if not all) perks should be reworked. I think everyone has ideas. Don't know why Behavior hasn't spent more time on the endeavor.
Let me know if you want insights into what perks should be reworked and why, I have an idea for each one.
Interesting.
Why would you say BT is problematic?
Ruin is another odd pick - it's certainly powerful, but it's also very fragile.

One of the weird tricks I've found is that when I get annoyed at playing killer - I'll go and play a few rounds of solo queue survivor.
I don't know why, but it makes coming back to killer so much more pleasant.

Truly there is no overpowered killer. You may say nurse, but nurse takes so much skill to master you maybe play a pro nurse once in 50 matches. No big deal. I would say blight would be the closest killer up there to recieve a nerf, but then again how many times do you go against blight? Once in 20 matches maybe. The only killer that really needed a nerf imo was deathslinger and he got absolutly slaughtered, which was sad cause daddy slinger was so fun and now he's eh. Besides that most killers are balanced or need buffs.
Eh...Nurse needs an overhaul. As it stands, she tends to get laughed out of the room at low and intermediate MMRs and becomes an unstoppable god of destruction at high MMR. Her kit is just a problem as it circumvents a lot of the game (loops, vaults etc.). Plus her addons are a touch too strong in places.
Blight - I see plenty of Blights. The issue isn't Blight, it's again - his addons. And yet they keep buffing them...who knows?
That all said, I'd prefer to see all killers brought up to the level of the 'A' tier (Plague, Artist, PH etc.) before we start hacking away at the Big 3.
@CharlieChatBox said:
This. There are so many killers that have pretty good base kits, and about 33% of the cast would get massive QOL boosts from an add-on or two being baked into base kit.
Just wish that all add-ons were good, not that a killer would either get good commons-rare add-ons but useless higher tier ones, or good very rare and ultra rares, but terrible low rank add-ons.
Yeah addons...one of the biggest differences between killers I like playing (Artist, Nemesis) and killers I love playing (Demo, Plague) is their addons - not just in terms of firepower, but how they can open up new styles/builds.
@GoodBoyKaru said:
Things absolutely need to be toned down on both sides, as well as need to be toned up, in order to achieve a much better game balance than current. Survivors have more of the things that must be toned down, yes, but ruin undying pain resonance tinkerer nurse w/ range + recharge vs solos is not particularly great.
("but surv-" yes i know survivors also have very op things that need to go and id prefer we dealt with those first)
Sure. And I'm sure a lot of killer mains would want the DH rework, about half the maps reworked and a lot of crap killers buffed before survivors get a look.
Right now...it's a bit of an arms race between killer kits on one side and an increasingly sophisticated and skilled survivor base on the other. So much of what makes a killer good is 1v1 potential+mobility. And that's not good for anyone - because if a killer lacks these, they tend to suck (or resort to cheesy tactics).
Another point is the SWF/solos issue. I'm not sure that the new status effects are going to make such a huge enough difference. The problem is probably going to have to be solved by the Matchmaking system - with some sort of temporary, proportional MMR inflation to SWFs to ensure they get stronger opponents, freeing up the killer they would have faced for more appropriate survivors.

To be fair, mmr is sorta screwy. While I mostly play Killer, I'm consistently placed with at least 1-2 red ranks a game.
Depending on which side I'm playing. I'm Silver at best right this moment. Been this way everyone time I'm back to Ash.
Keep in mind that there is no connection between grades and MMR/matchmaking anymore. Grades are purely for BP rewards on the 13th, they mean sod all, especially this late in the month.

Maybe an MMR thing? I'd guess that I'm pretty low, possibly low-intermediate on survivor. I see the Big Three plenty, but also a fairly decent variety of other killers.
I've only very recently started trying to seriously learn survivor - previously it was a matter of 'oh, I want to see this cosmetic I got from the Rift' or 'oh come on, this daily again?'.

I've always played 80% killer and I was excited learning my favorite killers and climbing to rank 1 that I couldn't get to yet rank 3 is my max so far but it started to feel meh I keep thinking if I should play killer these day and I get a weird feeling of anxiety because it feels like a chore the same stressful prosses of chasing good survivors through 20 pallets and infinite loops even winning doesn't feel satisfying because you need to sweat and fry your braincells for it, feels more like torture.
As soon as you get your first hook 3 gens are already done, maps are too big while everyone hears your terror radius they hide somewhere and they keep dodging you since killer FOV is limited and you play hide and seek into chases and poof all gens are done .
The anxiety of having to face SWF sabo squads that are so effective you can't do anything just doing well through a series of matches bumped me into some sort of high mmr, everyone is clicking flashlights and t-bagging can't even count how many times it happened and from all of these experiences and how difficult killer is I just don't feel like playing it that much anymore, I improved at nurse I can get good games with her but she's not fun to play.
Played so many multiplayer games, even the infamous League of Legends which I've been playing since 2014 doesn't feel as toxic or exhausting to play as killer in DBD.
Thinking of playing killer gives me anxiety but survivor feels chill and sorta fun even if I get face camped or tunneled or hit on hook it's not as miserable as getting bullied by survivors when you play killer and it's way easier to pip that killer .
When I started DBD I used to play killer for 10 matches straight without getting bored but now after 1 match I just feel exhausted and not mentally prepared for another one till tomorrow.
I know the feeling - really started to hit me at 400ish hours, as I was gradually moving into more intermediate MMRs and facing a lot of SWFs and nasty builds, as well as some of the grossest, most BM people you can imagine.
It eventually went away (see: I finally became numb) at around 500.
I've found that setting myself challenges, like 2-hooking everyone before killing and not just being focused on the win helped me immensely.

There is something really wrong with a game if it makes us feel that anxious.
It's half due to how stressful killer can be as a role and half due to just how genuinely unpleasant survivors can be when they win. Playing survivor, while certainly less engaging, is infinitely more relaxing.

Yeah you lose track easily in many maps
FOV is another thing that it took me ages to adjust to - and I still get spun sometimes. The only killer that it feels really abysmal on is Sadako, where you can't see a thing in long grass and even occasionally get a bit motion sick.

Essentially whatever 'slot' that addon occupied is taken up, you keep the same amount you had of that slot
Here's an easy way of looking at it:
Pig's video tape addon was an uncommon (yellow) and was changed to ultra rare. They didn't delete the old one and replace it, they simply swapped the slots around. In other words if you had 200 yellow video tape addons, you got 200 pink ones instead
Hopefully that makes sense?
Yep, thanks.

Why is it illuminating? in truth, he is not suppose to be accomplishing any streaks whatsoever on any weaker killers. He is performing in the expected tier-list that he put her in. Era of killstreaks is somewhat over for the vast majority of killers. The only killers that should be killstreaking are strong killers, like A-tier and above. Even then, its mostly like light streaks like 20.
Its why most of the weaker killers that he originally got 50 kill streaks are not really legit killstreaks because he was facing new players and random skill-level players from old emblem system. Its only going get tougher for here on out. Just wait till they add Icons for solo where they start match solo start to become as efficient as SWF.
Shrug. He managed 20+ on Cenobite, and Cenobite isn't a strong killer.
The illuminating parts were:
- Even accounting for MMR, him saying that even compared to Myers and Trapper, she feels powerless at times.
- The mandatory brown.
The issue is that we don't need another 'C' tier killer. 'C' and 'D' tiers should really only exist as a holding pen for killers awaiting a buff/rework, or Pig. If a new killer is released weak, that's either evidence of poor design decisions, running out of time or...actually no, I think that's both of the things.

Okay, so what he should do is remove all perks, give the survivors 30 seconds. I think he had better results when he did that, and it totally must have been his high mmr that enabled it. It is always funny to watch someone who thinks the game is killer sided desperately swinging at windows because of the pressure they feel. Poor Otz...
Man, I still remember the first game of that 30 min AFK challenge. Some survivors just want to watch the world burn...

There's more to it then that, there's certain things about Sadako that he's taking a lot of advantage of:
- Her strong map mobility helps his slugging strategy because, after he downs someone, he typically has a good idea if there is another player nearby to chase normally or if he should teleport to a farther location out to chase someone there. A killer without that type of mobility has a harder time doing that kind of long range pressure
- As silly as it might seem, the Condemned stacks are actually helping him as well because, by doing a lot of slugging and constant chasing and teleporting, he's not giving the survivors a lot of time to both do gens and also still remove their building stacks. To accent that he's been sometimes also running her green add-on which makes it so when a survivor heals someone who is cursed they also gain another stack of Condemned. That makes the pattern down, slug, survivor comes in to healing the dying survivor and gains a stack themselves. It's not as rare as people might think for him to actually get kills with Condemned simply because the survivors are stretched in too many directions to think about their stacks in time if they're also juggling gens and healing dying survivors.
- He does use the stealth to get close to survivors without teleporting when he can, but he also uses it a bit in chase, typically to for instance be Demanifested while the survivor can't see him on one side of a wall at a loop, Manifest, change directions, and the survivor doesn't know he switched angles because of the short invisibility and runs into him or gets caught waiting at a pallet or vantage point.
Now all that said, he does also play other killers using this sort of basic strategy too. I'm just pointing out here though that when he's playing Sadako he is taking advantage of things that are specific to her kit.
I think he overvalues that green - the Condemn gain is minimal.
Yeah, I'm not saying that she doesn't have a kit - but watching that video, I'm not convinced the stealth is doing anything whatsoever even with that yellow. It mostly looks like the survivors are playing pretty normally, and he's just a very talented killer playing bog standard M1 style, doing a lot of slugging.
Honestly, he'd probably have an easier time on Wraith or possibly even Pig.

Neither does suvivors i can't bring purple flashlight with me everygame. Bring their strongest add-ons if you want to win don't tell me you expect yourself to win without sacrificing the same amount as they did. 4 people who paid extra vs 1 person who just wants to be entitled to a win.
We aren't talking about survivors with addons versus killers without addons. I...don't understand why you've shifted the goalposts to this.
But okay - let's take addons out of the equation.
An Artist queues up against an SWF. Nobody is using addons. Everyone is using meta perks. Eyrie. Skill levels are about equivalent - high intermediate.
Now, a Trapper queues up against the SWF. Similar quality of builds. Same map.
Which killer has the easier time, again assuming equal skill levels?
Why?

Then bring an addon, its like saying a perkless killer should win against SWF with 4 dead hards.
When you shift the goalposts, you concede the argument.
But okay:
- Killers should not be balanced around the expectation of bringing an addon.
- What addons should a Freddy bring to even things up? Or even Sadako for that matter?
- You can't run iris or URs every game and having mandatory browns...I thought we got past this years ago?
Survivors can do just fine without items, because they draw the entirety of their power from player skill, map and perks. Killers also have a powerset, which is where the balance issues lie.
Even contrasting 'good' killers like Artist, Plague and Hag with the 'c' and 'd' tier killers...you cannot honestly be saying that - even using their best addons - a Pig or a Freddy can compete with an Artist or a Plague at even intermediate MMRs.

Really? With CoH and DH excepted, I'm much happier with balance as is.
When I started I had to deal with:
- Old DS being a defacto extra life.
- Old OoO in basically every match, giving entire teams permanent wallhacks.
- Killer meta was Ruin+Undying or bust, essentially.
- Every map having 2 or 3 spots where survivors could go down/crawl and be impossible to pick up.
- With the exception of Spirit, a lot of killers were in a much worse state than they are now.
- Ranks and the lack of killer matchmaking protections was awful as a newbie.
- About 6 weeks of no DC penalty.

This is ridiculous, does everyone really want a basekit c-tier killer to dominate against 4 brand newnparts? Cause there is a reason iri add ons exist and its not just for show. Its like saying its so hard to escape myers cause he has infinite tier 3 and instant mori, yeah that's the point. Why shouldn't iridiscent add ons make it easier for the opponent to win.
Nurse is broken OP from the start not to mention an iri add on that gives her 3 blinks, blight is broken due to two of his addons, take it away from him and he's balanced A tier.
No.
What people want is for the ridiculously large delta between 'c' and 'a' tier killers to be closed somewhat.

All killers are viable. You just need to adapt your strategy and/or get good.
@Tiufal said:
Devote yourself to other characters and understand that theyre still viable.
Depends on the killer.
Some (Myers, Wraith, Clown, Pig, Trapper and frankly Onryo) are heavily lacking where it counts, meaning that even if you put the time in to master them, you'll have a rough time compared to if you were playing someone good.
You can go and watch high MMR gameplay on these killers - if the map RNG is against you and the survivors are good, sometimes you can play a match out almost perfectly and still lose horribly. A lot of these killers are good at stomping new players (Wraith, Pig and Myers in particular) but fall off fast as your MMR rises.
On the other hand, someone like Nurse, Blight, Artist, Plague and possibly Oni, Spirit and Hag can always do something more.

No. Neither Clown, nor Legion, not Ghost Face, nor Nemesis, nor Pinhead, nor many others have the capacity to beat good survivors. Skill only takes you so far with them.
Eh...Nemesis and Pinhead can at least content tough games. Most killers commonly accepted to be 'B' rank or above usually at least stand a chance.

According to your assessment, nearly every other Killer is a god and needs no changes simply because it was easier for a single streamer to get win streaks on them?
Calling this "illuminating" makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
...No, what?
That's the exact opposite of what I'm saying.
I'm saying that, even compared to some of the weakest killers in the game and accounting for CoH and MMR, how difficult he seems to be finding this streak is what's illuminating. Balance isn't something that happens in a vacuum - and you cannot say that there's not a gigantic delta between Onryo and even 'good' killers like Plague, Hag, PH and Artist.
-
@PixelBush said:
Typically new Killers get balance updates in the second midchapter after their release - has Artist's been delayed? Or is she gonna stay the way she is?
And before anyone draws any conclusions, I'm not petitioning for her to get buffed or nerfed. I'm just interested to see as an Artist enthusiast who wants to make a guide on her without risking the information in it becoming instantly outdated.
Aside from her addons being sort of meh, Artist is honestly pretty near perfection. She's strong, she's intuitive and she's versatile but she has lots of counterplay and a monstrous skill cap. Artist should (again, excepting addons) be the balance targets for all killers going forwards, imho.

Wouldn't that mean it is too difficult to rank up as survivor?
Nope! :)
It means that there are vanishingly few people at that level of experience. What'll generally happen is that, even if there are 2 survivors at that MMR, the other two will be have to be pulled from lower MMRs, creating a weak link in the team.
Other games have dealt with this issue by having 'leagues', and you will never be matched with anyone more than 1 league above you or below you, regardless of MMR.
@Norhc said:
>either 4 perks and no addons or (rarely) 3 perks and one addon.
What is this self-handicap meant to prove exactly? Killers are designed AND balanced with add-ons in mind, that's a fact.
Are they?
Then why do SS tier Nurse and Blight have some of the most powerful addons in the game, while Hillbilly and Freddy have some of the worst?

@dugman said:
I can't speak to how good or bad Otz is with Sadako, but if you actually want to watch someone who is really good with her I recommend
RedsGamingGears . He's been putting on a clinic with her all this month. I don't know what his kill rate is exactly but it seems quite high and he is definitely taking better advantage of her abilities than most of the other streamers I've seen. He even gets Condemned kills against otherwise good survivors not infrequently simply by virtue of how much pressure he can exert with her. (He tends to use a lot of slugging and constant map wide pressure with her. So the first part of the match is usually a lot of downs and breaking of pallets but few hooks, followed by eventually hooking one specific survivor three times in a row to eliminate them and then cleaning up the rest since all the pallets are gone by that point.)
Hah! I've watched him play with her - honestly, it mostly like he's playing her as a pure M1 killer and just going for a lot of slugging and tunneling. He'd probably be even more effective on...almost any killer. He's certainly skilled though.

Mm. I'm starting to get a feel for it now (I'm still bad, but at least I'm winning quite a few chases). Playing 800 hours of killer has definitely helped in terms of knowing the maps (although I can't find hexes for the life of me).
Where I'm really struggling is:
- Decisiveness at loops.
- Mechanical control (far too often I'll be looking behind me and run into a trap or a tree).
- Judging distances and rates of speed.

Interesting stuff.
Extremely curious to see how the new reveal mechanics play out. Hopefully they don't come to a nerf.

On top of MMR being released, OP mentions that Otz talks about Trapper being easier. His Trapper video was uploaded December 2020
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ECVL9MXCQD3Z/image.png
Now, I'm no mathematician, but since then we've also had this tiny little thing called Circle of Healing
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BO33B8JR599A/image.png
And this may or may not have completely and utterly ruined the M1 killer game plan.
So many comparing the feeling of a 2020 streak pre-MMR and pre-COH and a 2022 streak post-MMR and post-COH isn't the best idea.
Sure. But he actually accounted for this - he was talking about toolkit and the importance of 1v1 ability right now. Applying some map control doesn't really matter if you have to eat every pallet on the map to get a down.

Lol no. Camping can be seen as a strategy. Facecamping no.
Yes, but those 2 killers still exist. And pig is way more common now.
By that logic, teabagging done by the survivors can be tricky too. They too can teabag to communicate with you, point to ask you to go after them to see something. Yes context matters, but just because it can be used in farming matches, doesn't mean it isn't mostly used in a toxic way.
Yes, survivors are more frequent, because per game, you have 4 survivors and only 1 killer.
Facecamping is extraordinarily effective against even high MMR teams - as the counter is basically 'abandon them, do gens and hope you can outpace him', which goes against how the game feels like it should be played. Factor in Insidious and it's lethal. It's the 6-pool of DbD - cheesy, effective and far more difficult to counter than it is to execute.
I've literally never seen an (unprovoked) teabagging Pig. Ever. The closest I've seen to a BM Pig is the standard 'chase people away from boxes and tunnel' stuff.
I've seen...maybe 2 unprovoked teabagging Ghostfaces. Even then, proportionally speaking, this is a fraction of a fraction of a vanishingly small minority.
No, teabagging is different. When you're in the exit gates teabagging (I'd say about 80% of the games I lose have people doing this) it's done to BM. Yes, teabagging can contextually be communication (as in, 'heres a free kill' or 'thank you') but that's generally 1 or 2 quick dips. If you're spamming teabags or worse, clicking your flashlight - it's unambiguously BM. Plus, survivors have emotes. Killers can only communicate by hitting things or nodding/shaking.
No, even factoring in the 4 to 1 ratio, survivors are more likely to be BM unprovoked.
You know what, I'm going to be playing survivor for at least the next fortnight. So I'll note down whenever I see a killer being toxic (hitting on hook, teabagging etc.) and I'll post it here if I remember.
I'd guess it's going to be <10% of the time.

@Sluzzy said:
Long winstreaks should be rare. If you can win 50 games in a row, we have balance problems. Normally when I watch Otz he is always winning.
Now for Sadako her power is teleporting and stealth. Not every killer needs to be anti-loop anti-counterplay type of killer.
I'm sure her kill stats are over 65% so she is more than adequate.
Hi Sluzzy.
Assuming you aren't being...Sluzzy here:
- Otz is probably MMR capped or as near as dammit, meaning that he's mostly facing survivors of a lower skill than him (and occasionally tourney level comps and other semi pros). Yes, he's going to win a lot. The interesting question is - how much, proportionally, on different killers?
- Pre MMR he was able to do 50. Now he capped out at 30, on a high tier killer (Artist) if I recall - and again, it's Otz. If the MMR system insisted on matching him against only survivors at his experience level, he'd be waiting for hours.
- Looking at the site (assuming it's accurate) she's at 51%, making her pretty damn weak. Where are you getting 65% from?

i currently have corrupt intervention, jolt, (cant remember name but the perk where if you down a surv anyone in your terror radius screams) and had sloppy as 4th. i started playing plague to get the one where downs cause nearby survs to scream as a teachable so i could add it to trapper but found i do really enjoy her as loops are very hard for me to beat decent survivors on, and she allows me to apply pressure in a certain way that helps me get around it.
Okay.
I'd switch things up a bit.
Corrupt Intervention (her perk) - incredible for helping you find people early and slowing down the game, allowing you to infect easier.
Whispers - Decent for locating survivors.
Infectious Fright (your screamy perk) - not the best, but decent for snowballing OR
Bitter Murmur - Plague lives and dies on information, and this is a decent baseline aura reading perk.
Fearmonger - this is probably the king of the universal perks (aside from NOED) and will make catching people so much easier if they are on gens.
Also start working on leveling Hillbilly for Tinkerer (amazing on Plague) and Nurse for Thanatophobia (slightly overrated, but still great on Plague).
For the future, you should keep your eyes on the Shrine/future killers for (in order:
- BBQ and Chilli (The Cannibal). Helps tremendously with the grind, also a decent info perk. OR
- Floods of Rage (The Onryo). Paired with Pain Resonance, this is godly. You'll miss the BP from BBQ though.
- Plaything (Cenobite). Solid side objective, synergizes well with Pentimento.
- Pentimento (Artist). See above.
- Pain Resonance (Artist). Plague is a very 'busy' killer, and this will allow you to regress gens without kicking.
If I had BBQ (which should be a priority for all new killers) I'd buy Artist.
These 4/5 are my go-to Plague perks, but even if you just get the Artist and run Tinkerer instead of Plaything and Corrupt instead of Pentimento, you're golden.
I play a lot of Plague, let me know if you have any questions.

Hes just a streamer, nothing more to make out of it. Otz is a nice guy, unless he abuses the ######### out of the game to amuse his viewers. But as you said hes just someone whos playing killer variety. Just because a killer needs adjustment it doesnt mean the killer is bad. Like there are killer mains playing their character for years like trapper and having decent winstreaks. And they dont think that their character is bad just because its weaker than other. People should dtop complaining that killers are bad as theyre not.
...
Okay, if you don't consider pre-rework Trapper to be a bad killer, I think we're working of a very different definition of bad here.
'Bad' to me, means that she's extremely weak proportional to the power of other killers. Yes, 'bad' means 'weaker than most other options'.
Yes, if a killer requires substantial adjustments - barring bugs, QOL etc. - then they are bad.

When should we expect to see Anniversary Announcements, what should we expect and when will we see it all in-game?
Personally, for the Anniversary, I'd like to see: A new licensed chapter (Slenderman would be my choice), New cosmetics for chapters that don't have many like Halloween, a short-time Stranger Things return that allows people to buy it again during for a limited time, and hopefully some cosmetic rewards.
If, *ahem* certain information that rhymes with 'creeks' is to be believed, the Anniversary killer is going to be quite special.
It was the biggest boom DbD has ever experienced last year, so I think the devs are going to be focused quite heavily on this one.
