"If the Stranger Things license was lost, can't the developers at least bring back the Stranger Things license ?"

    Some people, I swear...

Yeah, that's not what the OP was asking, and you know that. They're asking a valid question; can the developers make it so that people who already own the DLC can purchase cosmetics for their DLC characters?

The answer is a complicated no due to the countless licensing issues.

  • I'm voting for Stranger Things Chapter 2. Bringing the old chapter and a new one is almost like two-in-one, since a lot of people who play now missed out on the original. I just hope Netflix gave them the green light months ago, and it's been in production for a while now. Else, we're looking at a Season 5 ST x DbD comeback.

I wouldn't want the Slender Man. His whole thing is being extremely alien and unknowable, there's no way they could include him in a satisfying way.

FNAF... eh. Give Ghost Face a bunny outfit and call it a day, he can party it up with Legion as the gang of terrible people dressed as rabbits.

While true, he has several canon powers that he's been seen using. I think he'd be one of those seriously creepy killers like the dredge is meant to be. Slender has so much potential as an excellent chapter, as does FNAF. I guess it's up to individual preference though.

Would you prefer Slender or another lacklustre original is my question haha

  • A third lacklustre chapter in a row will really hurt DbD. I'm starting to feel it, even as someone who usually just enjoys games for what they are rather than what they could be, it's feeling really stale. I do think it needs a good Chapter 28, and when I say good, I don't mean 'niche' good, I mean 'blowing up the internet' good. I feel like only Stranger Things: Chapter 2 could possibly do this to DbD. I feel like it'd be very unexpected due to Netflix's clear intentions to steer clear of other games, for now, to focus on their own.

Personally, I'd be stunned to see Slender or FNAF enter the game. One of those would really interest me. Something that I'm not so fond of but know of, like Alien, would be cool. But an original that doesn't quite hit the mark? I'd have to take a break for a while to avoid finding the game downright boring.

  • The way I play the game is so, so different to most people. I find the most fun thing to do is to use a character's three personal perks and choose a fourth that makes sense to that specific character. For example, I main Nancy Wheeler, and use her three personal perks (which are now generic ones, sadly), and then on top of that I'll use Small Game to track down totems efficiently and to eliminate Hex Totems.

This means I use Object of Obsession and Sole Survivor on Laurie Strode, despite how 'terrible' they are. I find it really fun to have every character use their specific perks so that I never play one character the same as another.

Then, with a character's outfits, I'll choose two of their personal perks and then choose two others to go with it. So for Laurie Strode's 'Sheep in Wolf's clothing' I'll ditch Decisive Strike or Sole Survivor for something that allows me to read auras, as she's quite observant in the original movie.

I know it probably sounds stupid, but this way of playing is way more fun for me, to come up with lore-accurate perk builds.

  • It's the ALT text for me. Whoever wrote that would surely have put Inner Healing into their load-out, written the ALT text, knowing that they were required to change the perk name for licensing reasons. They ONLY reason they could legally call it Inner Strength is if they have the license, right?

  • We'll have to wait and see what The Anniversary chapter is this year. It can't be an original, since we've had a few back-to-back now. They've also been poorly received... My bets are genuinely on ST Chapter 2 or something else that's just as big (although for some reason I feel lik ST2 is possibly the biggest thing they could reveal).

It also makes sense with the timeline. If there was to be a Chapter 2 and the map shown last year is to be believed, and if it's also true that chapters take around 9 months to create, then we're actually right on track for it to be the anniversary chapter.

  • Yes, I think it will. The map that they were working on was shown on July 30th 2022. It was a prototype with some quality DbD assets, the most convincing of which was the basement. What's interesting about this is that the basement shown was the new basement re-design which was officially released in 6.4.0, and came out on 22nd November 2022.

If the map really was faked, then how did the creators get the new basement design, back in July 2022 when we didn't even know about the basement re-design until late October 2022?

If this theory is correct, and the map is truly official, then both parties have been working together again on a rework of the Hawkins map in the Spring/Summer of 2022, when Stranger Things 4 came out. If a whole second chapter is in the works, we'll see it sometime in Summer this year.

What'd you'd want his power to be? Perks? ETC.

Slender Man is one of the most legendary internet horror characters to date. Shame the movie didn't do him justice at all. I'd love to see him infect DbD and bring unique ways to play the game as killer and survivor. I'd say a big thing about his character would be that survivors shouldn't have their character facing him, else they are exposed after a certain amount of time. It'd make chases very interesting.

Except that it's 15 dollars for some. Almost every cosmetic is more than the actuall chapter itself lmao but yeah the devs have bamboozled us all with one of the greatest stores in video game history making us spend our life savings on it. Cosmetics>college

That is a downside, but they're making it so you can purchase more with non-premium currency, right?

  • @Huge_Bush said:

I love playing dress up with any of my video game characters. I just think the customization in Dbd is super weak. I want more options! I want more slots for different cosmetics.

I want independent slots for hair, head (think head bands/hats, hair clips), back (cape/cloak, jacket), neck (scarf, necklace), shoulder (backpack), arms, hands, upper torso, legs, feet, fingers, ears, face and anything else that’s possible to customize.

It’ll take a lot of work, so I doubt they’ll ever do it but it would keep me playing for longer in order to earn more cosmetics.

Honestly, I'd love that, too. I come from playing games like Overwatch where your skins are just one outfit, so DbD feels awesome to mix and match stuff! I'd like to have more customisation, but I definitely appreciate the head/torso/legs thing they got going on!

If/when we get stranger things back I really regret not buying all of Nancy's cosmetics.

I also would be super hyped for the next killer from stranger things.

I'm holding out hope with all the recent leaks going around, it'd be a mistake on both parts not to have it go forward! I at least would love to see the old stuff return, the outfits for Nancy are so iconic imo

  • @Kirahie said:

Yeah I really like fashion by daylight. Unironically some great cosmetics.

Like maiden guard plague with the exiled helmet looks awesome.

It's just such a cool concept for how 'outfits' work. I know when Stranger Things cosmetics come back I'll be grabbing all of Nancy's so that I can mix her 70s/80s vibes. I hope Laurie Strode gets a few more, too!

  • ngl this is a good sign about Stranger Things DLC as a whole returning, they're clearly making adjustments behind the scenes. As for the bug, I'm sure it'll be recognised and fixed soon c:

  • @Raccoon said:

I always see people talking about how it's impossible to get kills, how they're ALWAYS being camped and tunneled, how their teammates are bad, how they always face hit squads, etc.

Why are my games so lax and chill compared to what I'm reading day in and day out?

It's human nature to latch onto negativity, I guess. This strange need probably dates back to survival instinct, back when we were cave people or something. But now, the media uses it as a way to generate money through negative stories about doom and gloom. Then, we have people coming to the forums and spreading negativity way more than positivity. I guess we're just built to complain when things go wrong more than compliment when things go right.

I'm still hoping that someday I'll get a "The Mummy" (1999) chapter. Give me an Ancient Egypt map, Rick O'Connell as a Survivor, and Imhotep as the Killer. I've also heard a lot of people want an "Alien" chapter, with a spaceship map (complete with windows for an amazing space view) and Ellen Ripley as a Survivor. That would also be really cool. What about you? Do you have any licensed (or even original) chapter ideas?

    Stranger Things Chapter 2

  • Does anyone else feel like sitting on a gen for around 90s isn't that fun nor engaging? I genuinely don't understand why we still queue survivor over and over again, enjoying the role, despite a significant part of it being to do gens. Has anyone ever thought of alternative objectives to sitting on gens for long amounts of time every game?

  • @CriticalWeasel said:

    Problem With Unique Characters:

    • Predictability
    • Versatility
    • Meta Hogs

1: When you see a survivor you absolutely know what to expect. Catching the killer off guard with a perk is actually one of the underrated tactics for survivor.

2: Survivors would become super specialized, which leads to my point 3.

3: Certain survivors will be favored over others.

Yeah these are definitely the biggest issues, it would feel quite stale. You'd see the same survivors constantly, much like we see the same perks constantly at the moment. I like that you can mix & match perks to your heart's content. I'd love to see this in action, though. See which survivors kits work well and which ones are seen as downright useless.

  • @KerJuice said:

It would be like you said, less enjoyable. The majority would just flock to whoever has the best default perks.

As far as who would be Meta and who would be the worse survivor, I don’t know. But in my opinion Dwight has the best default load out in the game. Prove Thyself to do gens quicker, bond to get a general idea of what teammates are hurt and where the killer may be, and leader so that your teammates can heal you/open exit gates/do hex totems quicker. He’s the only survivor who I play with all 3 default perks. I added Botany Knowledge so I can heal my team quicker. As a result, that build is one my highest escape rate builds. It’s VERY efficient.

That's really interesting, actually. I personally play all survivors with their three teachables and an extra that either fits their character's lore or synergises with their kit. Makes sure that each character I play has a unique style. If I wanna be an objective-based character that can slip away from the killer, I go Feng Min, if I feel like playing a greedy hatch game, I go Laurie Strode, that kinda thing.

  • @prion11 said:

every game would be 3 bills and a meg. david rate crashes to 0%

hahahah rip dead hard, that'd probably be the one good thing to come of it.

  • @VonCrow said:

What I would like is characters using their own perks having a stronger effect.

So Meg's Sprint Burst would be a bit better than any other survivor sprint burst.

That's pretty interesting. Using a character's personal perks gives a very slight buff to said perks.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

Us Dweets would be persecuted as "gen rushers".

Most definitely. Us Nancy players would be the 'Totem Crushers', more than we already are.

  • @amazing_grace said:

Yeah... I think the players everyone would usually play would be the original characters and Bill. They have the best perks and knowing soloq, people would probably want to try and keep themselves as safe as possible.

I will say, it is interesting to think about because it would shift the game into almost having different type of characters: gen jockey, more chase oriented, or support characters. Like Quinten would be a total support character having vigil without any exhaustion perk and being able to open the doors fast.

Least played would probably be Ace (because he would be the worst support character to play), Ash (because his perks aren't great), and maybe Yoichi (probably has the worst boon and his other two perks are only ok).

Yeah, I agree. I think it'd be really interesting to see how characters are balanced, though. No longer are perks individually monitored, it's now about character's actual kits themselves. It would entirely change how the game is balanced.

I play the game like this, anyway, genuinely. Each Survivor I play I use their personal perks plus one that fits the character's lore or fits well with their load-out. It makes the game more fun for me personally, so that each Survivor brings a different play style.

  • @Marigoria said:

Terrible idea. there's already characters that are barely used, i dont want to see everyone using the same ones just bc they have the best perks.

Uh-huh... Please refer to the Quick Disclaimer. It's NOT a SUGGESTION, it's a discussion of what the game would be like with this implemented. I literally explained this twice in the original post.

  • I mean, after Stranger Things was removed, DbD just felt like it went downhill for me.

Actually she's 18 already and so are the other kids because we've waited like three years for the new season look it up

Millie Bobby Brown might be 18, but Eleven, the character, is canonically 15 in Season 4. There will be a time skip between Season 4 and Season 5, so it's likely that she will be around 18 in the final season.

We’re not getting strangers things back ever. When licenses leave they don’t ever return to that game.

So that's why SMITE's Stranger Things crossover skins are Exclusive rather than Limited? In SMITE terms, skins with an Exclusive label will make regular appearances in the store for purchase. If this was not the case, they'd be labelled Limited.

Companies make deals and they come to an end at some point, but it doesn't mean that they can't be renewed in the future. It's a live service game, literally anything could happen with their licenses.

  • @Marc_123 said:

Hey the petition is at 28.812 right now.

Maybe Netflix takes notice. They are trying to reverse some damage that was done lately.

This is true. If we don't get a Stranger Things return around July 1st, I think we'll most likely be waiting until Season 5, though. It's a shame, really, but I hope it comes back one day.

  • At this point I just want them to make a public announcement stating whether or not it's actually possible for it to return at any point in the future. Obviously it's up to Netflix whether or not they want to have it return, but we don't know what the deal is with the license. There was probably a contract signed by both parties that prevents either from publicly mentioning the DLC under most circumstances since we haven't heard much since. The only news we have heard is that they're extending the window for redeeming Stranger Things DLC codes until later this year.

  • Potential for a Stranger Things chapter 2, let's GO-

  • I mean I've managed to convince myself that Stranger Things will show up in some form tomorrow, so I've only set myself up for disappointment really.

  • Can't say I've enjoyed it since Stranger Things left personally

  • Can we get Stranger Things back, too? That would be pretty neat.

  • When I first played, DbD was genuinely terrifying. I'm not joking when I say during the tutorial, I couldn't even vault through the window, cause then I'd be leaving my little safety area. It took about five minutes of hyping myself up. During ACTUAL games I'd hide so much cause I was scared. My heart still races at exit gates though, that part never went away :3

  • Yeah, it's more when you hook a survivor, they get unhooked, you chase that same survivor again to hook them, they get unhooked, you chase them, then you hook them again. It's just not fun and I don't see how chasing after one survivor all game can be that fun either. As Killer, it feels terrible to do so, I actually don't understand how others can do it consistently, it feels dirty.

  • If there is not even a WORD of Stranger Things' return, I will not be pleased :)

  • while gen-rushing is irritating to play against, there are a few perks that you can use to slow the rush down. this strategy also doesn't stop you from enjoying the different sides of killer gameplay. having the killer chase after you specifically all game basically leaves a survivor helpless as there aren't many perks that can do much for them in that situation. you can't do anything but be in a chase the whole game, eliminating your ability to do gens, unhook, heal, and will leave you very little chance of escaping. it eliminates all other areas of the survivor experience.

i play killer myself and i often use perks like bitter murmur/claustrophobia to help me catch survivors after a gen has popped. i mean, even though i hate to endorse the use of it, NoEd works against gen-rush, too, since no one will be looking for totems.

  • @SensualPotato said:

Yep. What the title says. If you need 3 or more slowdown perks to passively win you games, you're not good at Killer. And that's fine! It's fine to want more chill games and not have to get flustered and stressed out because gen speeds are too fast. But don't act like you're amazing at Killer by BM'ing and being a jerk in chat afterwards when you're clearly relying on multiple crutches to do even partially decent. It's like camping a corner of a doorway in a competitive multiplayer FPS and thinking you're somehow a god at the game.

Same goes for all of these Survivors who can't play a single match without their Circle of Healing, Dead Hard, and Brand New Parts.

TL;DR - Play however you want, but don't be a jerkoff when you know you're relying heavily on meta perks to even manage to do well. Don't BM the Killer in an exit gate, and don't shake your head and slap a Survivor on hook when your perks are literally passively winning you games.

Gens can be popped pretty quickly, I feel like we're in a gen rush meta, and this can be very stressful and difficult to play against as the killer. You shouldn't be telling people whether they're bad or not for their perk choices. If people are having a hard time against a certain aspect of the game (gen rush being a wider problem) then it's completely okay for killers to use them.

If killers have perks that only affect generators, then they're not going to be as strong in other areas such as during chases and getting sacrifices. I'll admit, I'm still pretty new to the game and play kinda casually, so maybe I'm completely wrong, but it doesn't seem logical to tell people they're bad for their perk choices.

  • @catkillsmouse said:

Possible but maybe they put Eleven as a Survivor.

Kids as survivors in a game like DbD wouldn't go down very well at all, but I'd totally be down for Joyce and Hopper.

  • @Seanzu said:

The Far Cry 6 collab was announced 10 months ago, which means the deal is likely even older than that, it was just a deal set in stone it does not mean they collabed recently.

I had no idea that this was announced so long ago. Still, with a new season on the way and Netflix going downhill, it does make sense that they'd want to start opening up again.

  • @GoshJosh said:

Not sure which company is more desperate at this time for new revenue/retained users. Probably a pretty close tie.

Kinda true. I feel like they could both benefit from this deal right now, but both can also be pretty stubborn so...

  • That'd be pretty cool. Here are some survivor categories for teammates:

SAVIOUR - Awarded usually for unhooking, healing, distractions, stun saves etc

TEAMWORK - Awarded usually for focusing on objectives such as generators, totems or exit gates

And some the killer can award to survivors:

SPORTSMANSHIP - Awarded usually to survivors for those who had sportsmanlike qualities during the trial

SKILLFUL PLAYER - Awarded usually to survivors who played well during trials (good running, saves, making good plays etc)

I know, I know. What killers would want to ENDORSE survivors? Well, I think it would promote more positive play if gaining more endorsements gave you more BP or other rewards. This could mean survivors won't crouch spam at exit gates or after stunning killers as much. Might even stop some clickers. Similarly, survivors could endorse killers for not camping/tunnelling them. It could be an opportunity to sit back after a game and think "actually, to be fair, I did kinda get outplayed, I'll endorse them".

This obviously won't suddenly make the game toxic-free, but a step in the right direction, maybe.

  • Uh... I think the Stranger Things chapter departing had something to do with it personally :3

  • Bring Back the Stranger Things chapter :)

It's BACKSTORY. I don't hear you complaining about the fact that Claudette is a scientist. So don't complain about the fact that David likes kissing boys. It's a weird obsession people have, targeting this part of characters as if it affects you in any way, shape or form.

  • @_AdamFrancis_ said:

Seriously, where was this energy when there were characters confirmed straight/bi/? SERIOUSLY, I don't understand why it's OK when straight people get representation but when the LGBTQ community does it's an issue.

And for anyone questioning why this post is needed, I'll put a small essay (tldr will be in comments because I know people don't have time to read an entire Bible on here.

Ever since I was a kid, I was bullied for acting a lil too... you know 💀💀💀

It eventually got to the point where I would literally suppress my feelings for crushes and people I loved just to fit in.

(good God I'm tearing up while making this)

It was so bad that I eventually ended up dating girls even though I barely like them sexually. ( I am bisexual but have more of a preference towards men ).

Eventually when I came out at 14, I got kicked out and had to live on the streets for a few months. It was rough, and it was all because I simply liked men.

So when I finally met Kason (my boyfriend) my world changed.

He and my brother introduced me to DBD.

So when I saw that David was confirmed gay, me and the rest of the LGBT community rejoiced and celebrated. You wanna know why?

Because if we didn't celebrate it, who would've?

TLDR: I got bullied and got kicked out of the households for being 🌈 when I was a teenager. I met my bf Kason, who introduced me to DBD, and when I saw David was gay, me and the LGBT community rejoiced because who else would've?

And Kason, if you see this (even though you probably don't use the forums, just know that I love you too much to even put into words.

This is a huge win for us as LGBTQ people. It really doesn't matter what the louder, more toxic people say about this topic. There will always be people that lack education on topics like this and then make a really stupid opinion because of it. You don't give your opinion on some random historic event that happened 500 years ago if you haven't researched it, so don't state your opinion on matters like this if you don't know anything about it.

As members of the LGBTQ community, it's important to remember this, and to happily celebrate these little wins, despite what some others may say. The fact is, more and more queer characters are being introduced across the media to create more diversity or represent those from vulnerable groups. Even if it's sometimes a capitalist thing (especially during pride month) it's still a win to have the representation.

From those times when you were all alone, I'm sure you realise that the voices of reason matter more than the voices of the uneducated. Be happy and celebrate this rather than letting others let you be down about it. It's OUR win.
