Excuse me the "fuss" btw its not a fuss just an opinion is about that Ive tried to say it throught the posts but you all saw it as an attack.

i mean, freedom of speech and all, but, like you're wasting your limited time on this earth arguing with people about a fictional character's confirmed sexuality. sexuality or snack preference, it's all part of a character, so let people enjoy these reveals, especially when they mean so much to people that wish representation of this kind was more common :)

no hate intended by the above comment, just adding my thoughts

  • I hope it comes back one day- I never got the chance to play it, I bought the game on the last day that the Stranger Things cosmetics were available

new player here, have been playing for about 2 days, i tried survivor a couple times and have been playing killer, im an active gamer and experient with all kinds of games, i decided to stick to killer for a while, have been playing wraith after watching some videos about how to approach, ambush, attack etc, i have been succesful in dealing some blows but its extremely hard, survivors just have a lot of defense mechanisms like running around pallets, flashlight, most of the time my wraith aint fast enough even after uncloaking right on top of them, and when i manage to hit them, they run away and heal back, i know im new and must be doing something wrong, i never won a single round yet, i don't have any good or advanced perks, and then i seem to be facing pro survivors, i think im the one being hunted and not the other way around, so before quitting the game i would like to know from you guys if thats how it is, if im losing because i don't have good enough perks, or i just don't know how to play ?

Welcome to DbD! Everyone's given some great tips above. My one niche tip is to watch out for The Demogorgon. He's a Limited Killer that was available for a few years and is no longer around, if you see any characters like this, no, people aren't hacking, the references from certain licenses have just mostly been removed from the game except the playable characters themselves.

I've long accepted that Steve, Mike and El are all probably dead. This sucks because they are my favorite characters.

I also think Jonathan is dead, just to ######### over poor Will even more.

My heart won't take it. So crazy having been on this journey with them, from a thrilling, sci-fi Goonies plot centred around innocent kids to a full-blown horror, where you're not sure which of your favourites is gonna bite the dust next. I would break seeing any of them die, especially Steve after he's come so far.

Also, I reckon that Nancy and Steve are gonna have some sort of romantic tension now that they're both older and more mature people, especially with Jonathan outta the picture...

The burnt guy in the trailer reminded me of Freddy.

However, new Steve perk, No One Escapes Steve.

I'm actually really worried about Steve from those scenes in the trailer, feels like his character arch is going from a negative character (not quite an antagonist but you get it) in Season 1 to a hero. It makes sense that his end would be sacrificing himself, and I'm not ready for that at all-

  • Honestly, Season 4 releasing is its last chance to return. If it doesn't come back in 2022, I just don't think it ever will. The Stranger Things chapter is one of the game's most beloved chapters of all time. The devs had such great teamwork with Netflix to ensure that DbD did the series justice, and they had a brilliant run together.

I can see them trying to re-negotiate something with us, the players in mind, but the longer we see 0 news on it, the more I think it's unlikely to ever return. I'm keeping literally everything crossed, even if they just allow us to buy the characters and cosmetics once more, I just wanna be able to buy them.

So you bully killers because they want to kill you or your teammates ?

Bullying was definitely the wrong word choice there from me. I just crouch spam at the exit gate if they face camped me all game, showing them that their tactic that leaches ALL the fun out of the game for me didn't work in the end. I've never clicked a torch over and over again or anything like that.

We all know that there's kind of an unspoken rule that this is just a really boring tactic and makes the game fun for no one.

Every ######### trial is like this, EVERY ######### trial

We do not understand, the game is perfectly balance, kill rate is 50%

When i listen your stream and read what you write, BHVR, i have just the feeling that you think we are fools.

I mean personally, I stopped playing for a while because of the Stranger Things chapter leaving. It was my incentive to play, knowing we'd get new content for such a brilliant chapter, so that's on Netflix I guess-

Tbh think would be all 3 survivors from arrival but have 1 as default and others as skins or CR and Lauren as duo survivors and Kate as a skin for Lauren.

Also pretty sure Kate is the proxy.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2890162#Comment_2890162

Very true, something old into something new.

Also we need a new killer that can scare people.....only have like Ghostface, Myers, and maybe Sadako.

Yes, bring in more scary killers! I like the idea of a killer you shouldn't look at, it just adds another level to the game. Killers have their own strategies in how they work, having one where you shouldn't look at them is such a different experience to literally every other one in the game.

  • Extreme Flatulence: You really shouldn't have had that Taco Bell before entering the trials. When vaulting through a window, let out a concerning amount of gas from your posterior, blinding the Killer for 4/6/8s. Extreme Flatulence has a cooldown of 60s.

  • Totally agree with you on that. His lore is so awesome and would just be so fun to make as a Killer. Since you've pretty much summed up what he would be, who do you think the Survivor would be? I think it would either be an original Survivor based on an alternate version of the first game's female protagonist OR if they got the rights to The Arrival, it would be Kate Millens or Lauren. I don't think it would be CR purely because female protagonists are a staple of the Slender games.

Despite their lack of characterisation, Lauren's devotion to her best friend and her detective skills would bring her some good perks. Not to mention the two games have VERY similar mechanics in one level, Into The Abyss, where you have to activate 6 generators and blind a proxy killer while avoiding Slender himself, then escape via the emergency escape lift.

Not perks that need changes because they are bad and useless. I'm talking about perks which are problematic in the way they affect the game. For example, dead hard, NOED, boons in general, stuff like old boil over, or it could even be a combination of perks that are problems when used together.

Give me suggestions and why you think they are problems that need addressing! I'm hoping to make a big video where I discuss them all and propose reworks for each.

    Dead Hard, NOED, CoH.

DS is literally fine, if you get DS'd you kinda deserve it under MOST circumstances

If, *ahem* certain information that rhymes with 'creeks' is to be believed, the Anniversary killer is going to be quite special.

It was the biggest boom DbD has ever experienced last year, so I think the devs are going to be focused quite heavily on this one.

Interesting! I swear I heard somewhere that there's a possibility of it being an original Killer this year, but we'll have to see. Anniversary Killer is said to always be a pretty big reveal. However, if they reveal that ST Chapter is returning either temporarily or for a longer time, I'll be very very excited.

  • And some people probably bought nothing from it. It just depends on your tastes. I for one, would love for the chapter to return one day so that I can grab all of Nancy's cosmetics and then I can be at peace haha

What an awesome 3 years on this game sure I may not have enjoyed 100% of it but this game carried through game drought

I'm jealous af. Had I started playing 3 years ago, I'd have ALL the Stranger Things cosmetics before they were removed

  • @Mooks said:

When should we expect to see Anniversary Announcements, what should we expect and when will we see it all in-game?

Anniversary stream and Steam PTB end of May/beginning of June with full release around three weeks later. a new chapter, killer, survivor and map probably. Last three were licensed but that’s not guaranteed. An event similar to lunar new year or winter event, where you can also unlock some cosmetics. A live stream talking about upcoming stuff (won’t reveal any licenses or characters except for the anniversary chapter), hopefully a roadmap for the year. Some community contests.

Personally, for the Anniversary, I'd like to see: A new licensed chapter (Slenderman would be my choice), New cosmetics for chapters that don't have many like Halloween, a short-time Stranger Things return that allows people to buy it again during for a limited time, and hopefully some cosmetic rewards.

Rumours hint towards an original chapter for this anniversary, but nothing is confirmed at this point. New cosmetics for older licensed are very unlikely, but possible generally anytime? Though they require new negotiations with the licenseholder etc.

Stranger Things will not come back like that. And if it ever comes back I hope it will stay… but I wouldn’t expect it ever again. This is up to Netflix and BHVR, but I don’t see either side to be okay with a short time come back

Thank you for this overview! And I'm totally coping with the whole loss of Stranger Things right now, and praying that with S4, Netflix will just be its usual, greedy self and try to re-negotiate a deal that allows DBD to sell the ST content again, but I honestly doubt it'll happen, sadly.

Terminator would be pretty funny right now.

Terminator? That would actually be a good addition, I think

  • Is it just me that finds sitting on gen for 80s so damn repetitive? Sometimes I'll actively seek adventure, go cleanse a totem, help a teammate do their gen etc because sitting on one by myself for ages can be so boring.

  • Such good ideas to freshen up the game. I wish they made more skins for pallets and breakable doors. Imagine closed elevator-like doors where the killer pulls them apart permanently. This would've worked really well on the Hawkins Map. Instead of pallets, you could have bookshelves/dressers in maps with houses etc

The game is so clear though in terms of visuals, with its red-only lockers and single-skinned pallets. I wish it had less of this from the beginning so that each map feels a little more distinct, but these things are so deeply ingrained into the game now that it just wouldn't feel right to change it for long-term players.

Solo survivor has always been the bottom rung of importance to Devs. Then Killer. Where as SWF is their darling cash cow.

I think 4 man SWFs can absolutely obliterate Killers who aren't really advanced and experienced. Coms and the ability to plan, strategize before hand, organize perks/items etc is an insane advantage. SWF's can also be cocky and show it (not all, but you know the ones). Killer in turn might have no choice but to tunnel one person out to have a shot.

Enter casual Solo queue (moi and company lol). I think some mid-tier Killers learn these tactics from streamers or whatnot, and use the same method. It is so easy for a Killer to win if they face-camp the fist survivor downed against Solos. Many Solo survivors being camped at the beginning opt for the 3 min penalty and D/C. I am so tired of the 3 vs 1. . Yesterday I had a Freddy so determined to tunnel me out he literally chased me all game and then facecamped. And I mean i could see up his nostrils he was so close to me. It was a rare match where my team mates knew what was going on, and despite knowing they could all run out the gate, they tried to make the rescue (team mates all coming to rescue me? It's like winning the Solo queue lottery it's so rare. One had BT and though they mobbed behind me, Freddy still went for me. He downed me again, postured, did cocky gestures, and DS got me out.

So yep. I can't play a game where I don't bring BT or DS. It would be foolish not to. I'd love to try other perks, but at the same, I'd like to have a shot at playing the match I waited for LOL. I know Killers feel the same about some gen regression/gen control perks.

Solo Survivor is pretty much how I play the game constantly. I don't have any DbD friends and no one seems to add each other from SOLOQ ever, so... I enjoy it for the most part, it keeps the horror element of the game going when I'm solo q

Where are you from, on which platform do you play and most importantly, do you have crossplay on or off?

From what you say with survivor queue being the normal 5+ minutes but ALSO killer queue being even LONGER sounds strange when people like me have less than 30sec queues all week after 8pm (killer only, eu west, PC, crossplay on).

    EU West, Crossplay On, XSX

I meant Killer queues are quicker, my bad. Survivor queues feel longer than they really are

  • Survivors do come with their own issues, and I think it's the toxic sides of both roles that lead players to constantly use meta perks. For example, Survivors don't want to be tunnelled or camped so they use DS/DH to prevent them from happening. Killers don't want Survivors to constantly blind them or crouch spam when they stun Killers or get to the exit gates, so they use lightborn/NOED.

  • @nfochairman said:

The fact that no one sees how lopsided this game is. Survivors literally have time to make mini games inside the game. Killers don't have time to breathe for 1 second. And everyone just pretends it's not real. Everyone is just like so why are killers unhappy?

    I am dumbfounded

The queues after 10 PM can be strange for me. Survivor queues are sometimes 8 minutes while Killer is considerably longer. I thought more people would play at this time, but it's slow even on weekends.

As for Survivors playing mini-games mid-round, it's just the nature of having a team of players vs one player. The Killer experience can feel miserable and unrewarding when Survivors have an answer for EVERYTHING you do. Loop consistently, stun/blind when you finally pick someone up, destroy hooks and crouch spam when any of this is done.

This is why Killers end up camping or using NOED, I can imagine.

  • Killers you enjoy being mori'd against the most

  • @jaawn said:

I recently learned from the "Game Rules & Report System" section of the forum, that camping is listed under actions which are "not considered bannable offenses" and thus should not be reported. This is a problem.

Camping goes against BHVR's own Terms of Use (viewable here: https://www.bhvr.com/terms-of-use/) Under Section E. "Rules of Conduct", it says it is a violation of the Terms of Use to "Interfere with the ability of others to enjoy playing a BHVR Service or take actions that interfere with or materially increase the cost to provide a BHVR Service for the enjoyment of all its users."

Singling out an individual player, hooking them, and then standing there until they die on first hook is absolutely interfering with others' ability to enjoy playing the game. This should be reportable, bannable, and BHVR should take steps to steer players away from this behavior through gameplay design. It is toxic, bad for the game, and feels an awful lot like harassment (often offending killers will even stand there and taunt you/swipe at you with attacks while you can do nothing. Mocking your inability to play and enjoy the game until you die with no recourse.)

Under that same "Game Rules & Report System" post, the stated goal is "to find the players who are creating a bad game experience and punish them appropriately, making the game a better place." Camping absolutely creates a bad game experience. I see it way, way more often recently than I have before and it needs to be addressed.

It's horrible. I once had a game where a Killer downed me and refused to pick me up so I just died on the floor. He just followed me until I died, was the longest, most boring game ever. Wish I DC'd, but wanted to help my team mates get out by distracting him.

  • It's a good rework, but I hate to see it be moved from a team-based survivor perk to a perk about having no one around you. This makes it... well, not camaraderie and more... lackthereof? I don't want Steve's legacy to die!

  • @LunarWendigo said:

I recently picked up Sadako (by recently I mean like yesterday LOL) despite the nightmares that girl gave me as a kid. And as survivor I don't like going against her at all, but I found out playing her is actually really fun to me ... go figure.

Any killers you guys love playing but hate going against as survivor?

Totally agree. Why does she seem so much quicker when she's against me? She's only a little girl and she's "walking" at what feels like 5 metres per second.

  • Licensed Killers bring in a sense of nostalgia (depending on the license, Shape and Onryō bring that feeling for me) and just make the game feel more interesting as a whole for me. Being chased by Michael Myers, Ghostface and Onryō are so much cooler because they're literal horror icons. I love speculating about what the next crossover could be, and Killers like Slender Man would just be so awesome to see in the game.

On the other hand, licensing is a very tricky subject. Licensed chapters seem to halt for periods of time. For example, the Halloween Chapter only just received some new skins after being in the game for so long. Nightmare on Elm Street Chapter literally has zero in the store and then we have the Stranger Things chapter being retracted with no word on whether or not it'll return.

This is the only downside to licensed content, but I still much prefer seeing iconic faces in this game. Original content is very cool and creative, but I got into the game from seeing the licenses it has, it's what keeps me playing.

  • I wasn't here for the fifth anniversary, but I found out that the stream discussing the incoming content was in late May (I think it was May 25th?) so we can expect a content reveal in May, then a release early-mid June.

  • The Demogorgon, Steve & Nancy, when they return. I'm guessing either during Season 4, Season 5 or after Season 5, the final season.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2883385#Comment_2883385

Yeah i don´t think so. Netflix probably has its own plans for the license. Which is honestly a shame.

They do have their own plans, but the license isn't just one license handed out to one game at a time. SMITE, Far Cry 6, Fortnite and even Rocket League have all had crossovers with the game. Two of these crossovers are currently ongoing simultaneously, so it's not completely crazy to think that they'll give a license to DbD again to sell the ST chapter for a limited time again.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2883334#Comment_2883334

But new players won´t have the option of buying him. Thats what i mean.

Just you wait for Stranger Things 4 to release in a month's time, you MIGHT just have a chance then if things work out in our favour

  • You've just gotta kinda accept that the match is lost and try and get some blood points out of it. It sucks, but you might as well do gens or loop the killer until you die, then just let yourself die on the hook.

  • @Sharpefern said:

Is it tunnelling to 3 hook a clicky clicky?

Yes. It is considered 'tunnelling'. In this case, however, I wouldn't consider it toxic tunnelling. There are very few exceptions that I'll make for tunnelling killers, and this is one of them. If you're being rude on purpose and annoying the Killer just to aggravate them, then they kinda deserve it.

Just to clarify, aggravating the killer is NOT endlessly looping them or blinding them when the moment presents itself. It's stuff like clicking constantly, spam-crouching after stunning them and blinding them over and over again unnecessarily.

  • @frit said:

dark theory, gain 2% movement speed within range. what?

survivor runs at 4.0m/s; most killers run at 4.6m/s. killers gain 0.6m on you every second you both are running, let’s put that into perspective.

distance covered after running in a straight line:

survivor (normal): 200 metres (after 50s)

Survivor (Dark Theory): 204 metres (after 50s)

Killer (4.6; no bloodlust): 230 metres (after 50s)

killer (4.6, including bloodlust accrued): 242m (after 50s)

including the bloodlust since killer will be chasing you, the speeds will go [4.6m/s for the first 15s, 4.8m/s for following 15s, 5.0m/s for the next 15s then 5.2m/s for the last 5 seconds until reaching 50s total]

In total dark theory ends up being 0.08m/s faster. the killer will gain there 5% bloodlust before you can even gain 1.2m and the killer will cover the entire distance you just made over the course of 15s in just a mere 0.383 seconds

0.3 metres of distance will rarely ever do anything, You would have to run this perk a hundred times to even get value out of it once, even then, the time it would have let you “make that window” half the killers in this game will hit you anyway.

tl;dr, perk is dog ######### and useless. each pwyf stack is worth nearly triple the amount, you alch tier of bloodlust is nearly triple the amount and killers are just way faster in general.

I only really get value off of it if it's placed really well. The Killer shack and near the exit gates are great places to put it. The 4% haste can be the difference between making a vault and taking a hit. I'm sure that Survivors that play extremely often and are very familiar with map layouts and looping wouldn't get masses of value off of it because they would simply know how to avoid taking the hit anyway by wall-hugging to an extent that I've not managed to achieve.

  • @Notionless said:

I want to clarify that i enjoy a lot of the killer patches theyve done, apart from billy, freddy and other minor changes. I also want to mention that theres still a lot of good they can do on that aspect, like address nurses and blights, rework the addons of PH and Twins and other good stuff.

I dont find this unnecessary at all.

What i find awful is how stale survivorside has gotten. In my last games i countinuously see the same rotation of 7 perks:

DH, BT, DS, CoH, Iron Will, UB and Prove Thyself.

Outside of that i also get the odd Sprintburst, Resilience, Adrenaline, Windows and Kindred.

Every game somewhat blends together with all the same perks. Its always wait for dh, wait out ds, no hit and run repeated endlessly.

The games I remember best and am most engaged in are the games with a random flashbang, lucky break/overcome, Blast mine, breakout, saboteur, quick and quiet & co. They usually get less value but id rather get finessed by a clean flashbang save than unwillingly tunnel someone aggressively using DS and BT for the 6th time in a row.

Killer doesnt have that problem imo, its gotten a lot better than corrupt, ruin, pop, tinkerer. Now theres also agitation/stastruck, enduring/spirit fury, DMS/pain res, Ruin/surveillance, and also single perks like lethal pursuer, NWO, call of brine and the list goes on.

I dont blame survivors for this either. Getting tunneled and camped for 3 times in a row sucks, and players throwing on their anti tunneling perks doesnt mean they want to sweat their balls of, its just a lot more comfortable.

I love the new Wake up, but its never going to be as good as BT or CoH. Balancing perks is not childs play, and I think the game devs should take a serious look at the other side of the coin, do rework the way they do it with the Legion and Ghostface currently, but at survivor as a whole instead.

Ya know what really sucks? I play Survivor in a very different way to most people. Each character has a completely different build using their three personal perks and an extra one that works with their playstyle. So Nancy, Laurie and Yoichi are three very different survivors to play. This means I've never actually had more than one "meta" perk in the same build. I don't play David, so I don't ever use DH, despite having bought it from the store.

When I use these kits to have more variety in my games, I usually get punished for it because I have no strong perks to counter Killers who use strategies like tunnelling or camping. It can feel so unrewarding sometimes and where I'm trying to make the game more fun for myself, Killers can make it much less so for me by punishing me for not using meta perks.

  • Stop bullying Killers in general. Unless they tunnel, camp or use NOED, I never 'bully' killers because then we're just all out here creating villains' origin stories otherwise...

  • Slender Man - The Myth

I would absolutely LOVE a Slender chapter. Something like "Slender Man: The Lost Pages" or something would be awesome. His vibe just fits so well into the game, that whole "do tasks while surviving against a horror enemy" vibes that his games give off. Bringing him and a survivor from The Arrival would be perfection.

  • I'm nearly a Demogorgon one-trick as the Killer. I just love his leap ability, shutting down loops and playing mind-games with Survivors during a chase is so fun. Although, crashing into walls is so damn embarrassing...

I sometimes play The Onryō, but mostly Demo, my baby <3

Me too! I only became properly interested in DbD when I saw that Stranger Things was leaving the game and wanted to know what the game itself actually consisted of. I bought the chapter and the game on the last day it was available and had no time to figure out whether or not I liked it enough to buy outfits, so I have none.

What I'm hoping for is that Netflix gives them a license to sell the old products, but it's unlikely we'll get any new ones ever.

  • Stranger Things Chapter 2

I will happily, HAPPILY sell my soul for this. Give me Nancy, Steve, Jonathan, The Demogorgon and Hawkins Lab back, and then bring Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers into the mix. Have Star Court Mall be a new map. The potential of a Stranger Things Chapter 2 is just crazy.

I honestly don't know how likely it is to come back at all, though. On one hand, Netflix has given 'licenses' back to games like Fortnite and SMITE, so there's potential, but on the other hand, BHVR seemed low-key really mad at what happened, after the devs put so much time and effort into the DLC and then Netflix requests it gets removed. I feel like they won't be doing business with Netflix ever again.

Oh, I'm sure he'd be semi-popular sure, but I wouldn't say horror legend. That puts him with the likes of Michael Myers, Freddy Kruger, Bubba Sawyer, Jason Vorhees, John Kramer, Amanda Young, Sadako/Samara, Pinhead, etc.

And I've never seen any of those films, for the record, so it isn't just me trying to dick ride.

You're not wrong there, those are the true film horror legends, but when we look at horror video games, which is most definitely a viable category of its own to give birth to new sorts of 'horror legends', I feel that the term is accurate looking at it from this perspective. The first thing many think about when they hear 'horror games' is stuff like FNAF and Slender, the latter dominating the horror side of the internet when he was first created. Still, he's definitely not Michael Myers haha

I mean, he was pretty big in the video game area. In terms of film, it obviously sucked, but I'd love to see him in DbD at some point down the line.

So, go to the official DBD Website and find the section for the Halloween Chapter:

Scroll down to the section on the Map. You'll be greeted with these images:

Honestly I think these look really, really, really good. Final picture has 2 windows upstairs open though and I'm genuinely afraid of House Of Pain ever making a return so manifesting that's a nifty little feature of concept art and nothing more.

    Thoughts?

Oh my God, this looks so pretty! Thank God they've got the Halloween license again c:

Lol why would bhvr get burned again? They can sit and spin

Less BHVR getting burned, and more the two coming to a better deal that allows ST to be a limited-time deal that comes and goes, more similar to the Halloween license. Would be nice if this is how things could work out, but right now, it all just feels like a very messy break-up and I feel like the community are the frustrated kids who will never understand what truly happened.
