A few issues with portals.
1. Poor placement, it would be super easy to have the portals spawn in weird ass locations that do nothing.
2. Any kind of notification for use. Unless the survivors literally cant see the portals, they will just stealth mode everytime the killer uses them.
3. This does 0 to fix the killer fun issue where their powers have been changed constantly so they are unfun for a lot of people.
3.5 you did mention we could further nerf killers to be worse in chases if we did this, it would be gutting the fun for killers

The forum is "killer biased" because the forums is a place to vocally provide input to the game and killers have had the most frustrations and bull to complain about to the devs for the longests time and while killer is not nearly as bad is it used to be for some reason when the devs do mess up 9 times out of 10 they ended doing so by ruining either a killer or providing some sort of indirect buff or power to survivors.
be that via horrible multilating perks-our hexes are still battered and untouched. NOED and DH are the only strongs ones-
Weird game mechanic changing-remember when survivors could stun a killer with a blind while picking up a survivor but it would only kick in after the animation played out-
Being blatantly survivor sided in their decisions - remember when killers were told everything is fine and we should play civilization while mathieu himself got bullied by SWF on stream-
Or ruin changes...or even recently...billy changes.
The forum is killer sided because killers have the most to complain about and getting more to complain about. Hell, even the end game collapse which was meant to be a pressure pot for survivors basically ended up being left as a "T bag at the gate" simulator and can STILL be 99%
The past where survivors were insanely OP and basically went out of their way to bully killers every game dosen't help either. To be fair, most of those survivors probably left but I still see survivors defending SWF-with or without comms it's borken. Literally the game is meant to work on uncertanity-
In the end the forums will be mostly made of killers complaining because killers have to basically carry a match on themselves so any small details changed dramatically effect them. If a map is big killers feel it more because they have to solo pressure, if there is wonky collission their characters are typically bigger and slow down due to it, if their powers or addons are touched the time sensitive nature of the game...especially against SWF make even seconds huge differences even at lower levels of skill.
If a survivor is in a bad game they can just use a second chance perk or give up on hook. All the while 3 guys are still doing gens.
You are mad because killers are complaining about ruin still?
One question. You wake up tomorrow and see DS has been changed, DS now allows you to slow down the killer by 10% if you are being chased by the killer if 4 generators are done, but it ends after the fifth generator is completed, Would that be a fine change and everyone should just hush up about it because its been a while get used to it?
Imagine if they said "Survivors can hide to efficiently, they can sit in corners and sneak away and its too effective, it hurts killer fun, so we are adding a "sneaking audio que" withing 30 meters so the killer knows that somebody just crouched. Wouldnt that be the dumbest thing ever? Thats the kind of things killer players hear every day for any killer.
Legion too good, he can move.fast plz nerf.
Spirit can stand still while going invisible and then i run into her and she didnt go invisible so she neds nurf. Like..... Why are you running at the killer ANYWAY
-
Im confused, because billy (good billy players not like me who just like running around) was one of the few killers who could Counter the genrush meta because he had the mobility and tools to get engaged just as quickly. If they are trying to balance for c tier killers then i dont see why we dont get more basic m1 killers, Or killers lacking powers that have direct affects on gameplay. In a way i guess that is what we are seeing, more killer that have limitations on powers or can only use in certain circumstances. Pig has ridiculous RNG on her boxes, plagues strong power depends on survivors to cleanse, pyramid heads teleport doesnt give info and warps to other side of the map. Clowns bottles..... Just gonna leave clown there lol.
I just feel maybe sawing off the legs of every killer or restricting their powers through RNG cooldown or survivor controlled interaction doesnt really scream."Killer is a fun role you know you want the thrill of the chase!" To me, it screams more of 'Take.our survivors through a tour of the entities map"
Edit: wow i went off topic my bad. In terms of genrush, i though billy as a killer was better against the genrush than others so, but i kinda understand why he helped force it too. Though i think the reasons are different than what you or I think
-
This entire thread
Killers: She is only strong non gimped killer left, she is countered by simple pallet drops and evading like other killers.
Survivors: She shouldnt be able to hear survivors, or move as fast, or hit survivors after phasing, or move to fast. Actually, give her a cooldown before her recharge.
-
Yeah, new billy just isnt a fun killer to play, and i dont mean easy to kill with. I mean boring. I cant run around and screw around like survivors can to have fun. Every match is tryhard city
-
@LordRegal said:
After the Billy nerfs, the jaded part of me is thinking we'll be seeing something like:
"We want to encourage skillful counterplay for the killer, so we're changing PGTW to light up a gen in a white aura when the killer kicks it after hooking someone. If no one touches the gen within a minute, the regression is applied."
I get where you are coming from, the changes to killers lately have been major, game breaking changes. Kinda off topic but i gotta ask, can anyone feel the difference in the smaller maps? I honestly see more pallets and windows sjnce the changes.
-
As plague i purged someone till they got broke. Status. Guy said i hacked cause somehow i was oneshotting people and that wasnt fair
-
Right now its more important that survivors learn how to actually play against killers. Most overperforming killers can be easily played into. You just have to try instead of running pallet to pallet and drop them as fast as you can
-
Just gotta say, in regards to killers not having interaction. Its what killers have wanted from survivors for a while. The ability to act on the survivors and not just capitalize on mistakes. The pace of the game is 100% set by the survivors and the killer has to react to it when it feels like.it.should be the opposite, the survivors should have to react more.to.what a killer is doing
-
The changes bhvr made are so minimal, they still hard nerfed billy, just now they are acting like they get everyone by reducing the nerfs by the slightest tiniest bit. Honestly its kind of insulting that, again, the entire community screams "Please don't do this, you said he was fine why are you doing this?!" And they act like they reverted everything with a tiny number tweak. The whole mechanic is a ridiculous nerf. Thats the problem, its the whole mechanic not the numbers.
Edit: I see a lot of posts talking about staticstics, so I have a brilliant killer he can not actively chase or hit survivors. Nope, he bides his time. When the generators are done one survivor is instantly sacrificed to the entity, and when a gate is opened another survivor is sacrificed. Completely random and a killer with the perfect 2k 2escape ratio. Addons are all about decreasing movement and gen repair speed so the game is a slogh to go through. Statistically this would be a perfectly balanced killer.
-
Ive said it before and ill say it again. The reason the hatch is hated is not because "the killer lost" its because the killer loses because of a game mechanic and not because someone outplayed them.
Lets say you got the best game imaginable, survs couldnt even get 1 gen done, got 3 ppl, 2 dead, anf two on last hook, you down and hook one of them, then the game abruptly ends, one of the survs found the hatch and stood on it while you killed the otherone. You get "GG EZ NUB KILLER" from the hatch escapee.
Lets flip this too, killer had a terrible game, couldnt hook anyone, all gens are done and 4 survs tbagging at the gate about to walk out. Suddenly as 3 of them leave the fourth one is blocked like bloodwarden and exposed, he tries to leave to the other exit gate and its still closed. The killer hits him, downs hooks and walks away. See why thats bs now? Extreme examples? A little but it would be the killer equivalent of the hatch.

Bill had been beaten while the entity hasn't.
Yeah but the entity itself doesnt DO anything. It sits around waiting for durps to wander in
-
Clowns power just isnt that active. I know it has abilities and uses but it just feels so miniscule of a benifit
-
Uncle stan would have 3 selfish mods, faster gen repair when ppl are hooked. Im getting out screw.you guys instead of noone left behind.
And of course, MONEY slight boost with a usable item in hand.
Killers would be too strong for the most part since bill os basically a god like the entity.
-
Id be okay if they picked one or the other. However killers are balanced around high level play and survivors tend to he balanced around low level play. Ill admit i prefer high level balancing but right now one side is being balanced with a focus on veteran players and one side around players buying the game and their entertainment value

So what I got out of this is you camp and tunnel on a normal basis and then complain about perks to help counter it.
The issue is that most killers don't even slug, they just tunnel down the person who gave them the hardest time. You're potentially ruining 1 or more people's game simply because you're mad that you got your ass handed to you. Killers then complain about egc hate messages and send them here and in the Discord acting like the victim as they "didn't do anything to receive such hate messages." The community is almost ######### COD level, but all sensitive, 10 yr old twats.
For the first point, actually i dont really cap or tunnel u less gates are opened. Secondly i dont care what i do it is never appropriate to tell people to kill tthemselves because they killed you in a game
-
@DetailedDetriment said:
Killers complain about second-chance perks but then tunnel and slug without thinking of the consequences. Dead Hard is kind of ######### so it's irrelevant.
Survivors complain about insta-downs because they are handled extremely poorly. I can understand powers being instant down methods such as with stalking and chainsaws, but perks and addons break the balance that the devs are trying to maintain. Iri head being an addon has no counterplay. NOED being a perk is extremely unbalanced.
Thats kinda the problem. We complain about second chance perks because they force us to play where we have to camp and tunnel. Because when a killer downs one person that way its gauranteed 1 person out of the game. If we try and hook everyone twice before killing, it fails the vast majority of the time. So why not focus one person down? Im hitting ds and bt anyway? Might as well use them as fast as i can.

I maybe should've been more specific, because you can kind of "counter" her by just being a good survivor and being good at chases, but she has no special counter. Like, with all the stealth killers, the counter is to just keep an eye out, nurse's counter is to run directly at her when she's about to blink, billy and bubba are countered by staying in jungle gyms and avoiding the chainsaw hits. Plague doesn't have anything like that. She can become even better by bringing stuff like olibanum incense or the apples
Ok i see your reasoning. Makes sense in that context.

Y'all acting like this does anything to help, though, and it doesn't.
I'm sayin something has to be implemented to deter camping. Feeding or not feeding the camper doesn't matter at this point because one or the other doesn't stop them.
They tried implementing anti camping measures. Survivors abused the hell out of it to the point it literally forced facecamping sooooooo. Blame survivor mains for the current state
-
Too bad, its something that works and people just wanna play the game their way. Sometimes the answer is as simple as " Why shouldnt I?" People have their own reasons

I think there should be hex equivalent for survivors. imagine if the killer had to break a charm and suddenly Ds was gone for everyone

thats nurse, not spirit. she has scratchmarks and grass move, also with a really good headsett and stridor, whenever sounds aren't bugged, shes pretty oppressive-
But her sounds are bugged. Spirit also requires prediction cause if a survivor stops running you have 0 information. She already flickers in and out sometimes during phasing. At this point why not take away the inbisibility. Killers dont need to be good or fun afterall
-
Spirit cant see survivors, you have to focus on your surroundings, listen and be good at predicting movements

That means that the game is inherently unbalanced. This is a terrible argument for why they shouldn't fix this game. If chess was imbalanced at high level play and white won 80% of games, but at low level play black won 80% of games, do you think chess would have lasted as long as it has? If they don't fix this, this game will have no staying power.
It sucks for everyone in it's current state. You are right, it's a level very few people are at, so the game sucks to most survivors who think killers are OP. But at the top level play, there is nothing you can do as a killer to beat top level survivors who play perfectly. No matter how perfect you play. This sucks for killers.
What they need to do is tweak the game. Nerf looping/pallets/windows, in some way that affects only high level players but not low level players who are gonna get hit anyway.
Personally i'd like to see that the game has a large number of pallets in a map, but all of them are extremely unsafe.
This video in general is really good and i'd recommend it, but this part right here is a perfect example of nerfing something that is really good at high level play, but terrible at low level play.
I quoted that video in another thread 👍😁 too bad the survivor i was talking to said its bad balance cuz reasons xD

New clown nerfs, we found that he is performing just as intended. As such the clown will now have a 45 second recharge time on his bottles as he makes the chloroform for his bottles.

Balacing the game around 1% of the playerbase is just a bad idea look at Nurse she was balances around that 1% and almost nobody is playing her she is one of the worst killer's for the most of the player's do you really think balancing around minority is good idea? And the idea that survivor gameplay is easier than killer is just wrong 90% of the survivor can't loop killer for more than one minute yes they can afk on gen but the true surv individual skill shines during chases.
They balanced because the lowest tier couldnt handle her at her best. So they "fixed" her so low tier players could play against her. So she is riddled with bugs and the people who did master her find her to be garvage because they literally broke her to let new players beat her.

Arnt the depip squad all extremly good survivors?
Why should we balance around a 4man swf that are all really good at the game?
Because in game theory (actual game theory not the youtube channel) yiu want to balance around your best players because they are more likely to find ways to break your game. You can fix things at the low end of the spectrum but your best players can usually be far more efficient and find things you didnt intend.
Gonna quote a TF2 video for this one.
When the rocket jumper and parachute got nerfed its because in the hands of the best players, they could jump around the map and never get hit because the control was so good, at lower levels pf play it had a minimal effect because people didnt really use the parachute for air dodging, but it absolutley was used by the best most efficient players.
In DBD im going to use old ruin (just as an example) of low tier balance. You have a lot of survivor players at high ranks able to either power through the perk or simply remove it withing 30 seconds or so. HOWEVER, at the lower end of gameplay survivors that were unable to hit skill checks would get stonewalled until they could start landing skill checks and hunt totems. This caused players to learn and grow in the game. What happened is we balanced against the lower tiers of players, now it does not affect skill checks at all, removing the incentive to learn more about the game. Instead it was replaced with a totem that encourages finishing generators above all else and not letting them wear down. In red ranks this has about the same effect that it did before but made the lower tier ranks have a much easier time because there is less skill required to counter it.
A lot of the changes BHVR does are geared towards the lower end of play involving survivors, the problem this has is it is much easier for
A. Survivors to get to ranks and prestiges where they are mismatched. And
B. Makes it more difficult for new players to want to play killer. It is true high tier and tip tier players will be able to continue playing their favored killers, billy, nurse etc... But it disincentives new players to stay playing killer. Meanwhile it is easier and easier for survivors to pick up survivor and be good at it
TL;DR Balancing against the highest levels of play usually fixes bugs and helps players to naturally improve
-
No. I wasnt a very good billy player but i actually enjoyed his mobility and running around the map like a mad man. Now i cant even do that :/
-
@DeathBeam said:
Nurse has always had the highest skill ceiling even without the nerf. The problem with Nurse is that it's a bigger pain to play Nurse, most of her addons are garbage, and they have not fixed bugs that can easily cost her the game.
Billy's addons are mostly trash, the overheat mechanic is a hard nerf and punishes you for using the chainsaw. Honestly BHVR is just terribly at balancing this game.
They arent terrible at balancing rhe game, killer players are not supposed to be able to play for fun. If a killer has a strong power, then thats bad design and needs to be changed. They have all but said that killers are supposed to be an "advanced" role and not really meant for casual play. As a killer they want you to claw and work hard for your kills. It really isnt about the fun
-
Huntress with iri heads, survivors scream.how broken they are.all the time so i doubt they will stick aeound
-
So. Did the devs just say that if you get rude survivors, just deal with it they are probably bad abd just brush it off cause they are probably bad? Thats not how you fix toxicity in a game, usually that encourages more of it ☹️
@Peanits said:
I don't really care most of the time. A lot of the time they're not doing it to be a dick, they're doing it to give you points (free hits) or buy their teammates who are still in the match some extra time.
That said, though, I find that the people who do actually sit there teabagging are usually the ones who went down in a chase in a matter of seconds, so you go out of your way to not kill them super early, and then they abandoned their teammates and sat at the gate letting them die. I usually just laugh those guys off. Proud of you champ, you did it.
-
For everyone complaining about the people simply saying "no" there is a reason. Because a nerf like this is so self indulgent, so entitled that it would be foolish to even consider it. So yeah, the answer to "why dont we make the cages tp if ph is camping for more than 10 seconds" is and should be "No"
-
Ultimately because pipping only happens when the stars align,. Do too badly and you dont pip cause you did bad. Rofl stomp and you dont pip cause you did to well. Plague is low on the list of killers to fix because shes mid.low.tier (despite being my fav killer)

Nothing will change, the devs will come on here with their usual troll posts, daring you to change games if you're unhappy. You will never see a Billy in the live game again. Devs will continue to stick their heads in the sand, release more mediocre killers, and nerf the strong ones until people finally have enough of their crap and quit playing.
It is basically for these reasons that i have dropped the game. Im willing to keep on the forums and see whats going on but.... I bought this game cause i enjoyed the killer role, however ever since i started playing its just been a slog to try and play my favored role. It reminds me of league o legends in some ways. Yeah i cant see myself even trying to play killer when every killer that is mediocre is apparently over performing

Saying killers have to relearn the game after a new patch is a bit of stretch. Perhaps my wording was off.
I hope they do add a new survivor objective though.
They may not have to start from scratch, but it does take a consderable effort to change playstyles while survivors havent had big gameplay changes

Yes, I know it sucks that they slapped a cooldown on Billy and tokens on Bubba.
Yes, I know it sucks that they changed the passive on Balanced Landing.
Yes, I know it sucks that they changed Pyramidhead in the latest update.
Yes, I know it sucks that they made maps smaller to help some killers out.
I promise that if you just keep playing the game like normal, you'll be fine. You'll relearn whatever it is they changed and everything will be fine.
Truthfully, I don't think I've ever been in a community with a bigger bunch of entitled, whining children. It's not the end of the world. In the end, remember that it's just a video game.
The only question I have. Is why? Why do killers have to relearn the game after every single patch, while survivors havent had a major meta change in years? Every major nerf expands this question, as the skill gap gets wider and wider, why are killers expected to play at a mastered level of play, while survivors who run in a straightline towards every pallet to drop it instantly, get no changes to their gameplay challenge?
-
The pig: We noticed she doesnt have a cooldown on her traps so she can use 1 trap with a 5 minute cooldown. We felt that this will help with survivor fun as noone likes to have to do jigsaw boxes.
Edit 1: After further testing the traps are still too oppressive since survivors are somehow failing to find a key until it is too late. To remedy this trap timers have increased to 7 minutes, since that is the average length of a full game it should help in killer skill and survivor fun.
The wraith: We noticed that the invisibility doesnt have a cooldown so we added a 15 second cooldown window as the wraith will now tie his bell to his belt and has to unfasten it. This will help with survivor fun as noone likes to have to play around invisibility.
The Plague: We noticed she doesn't have a cooldown on her vomit ability. This is problematic for survivor fun and realism because you dont have infinite bodily fluids.
For survivor fun and realism we added a 2 minute timer to her vomit and limited her to 3 uses of it unless she eats an apple scattered around the map, at least 32 meters away from a generator. We feel that since most matches last about 7 minutes this is fair.
Edit 2: We listened to your feedback and have decided to remove the apples from the plague, in the event of more drawn out matches they severley limit new survivor interactions.
-
Totems are so laughably easy to find and break its stupid. Ive seen them litterally 2 meters from a gen. My fav moment was popping a gen and the dull totem to my left popped so i broke noed in 16 seconds from it starting. This is not that rare of an occurance

Heck even if you want to tunnel, they made a sound notification when somebody gets freed out of the cage, you can still go for them if you really want to.

Lets be real though, how often do you cage someone in the game? Cause I don't, I'd rather (and I do) save that torment for the struggle phase unhook and have a ez mori. Making survivor step on torment isn't the hardest thing ever, but it's definitely not something you can expect to happen every time so you might as well think that it's a one-time thing for each survivor.
But we can all agree that this was really an unnecessary change, it just doesn't even give PH any benefit as an whole.
I wanted to buy PH but i couldnt bring myself to because i figured thered be some dumb change made to him after i bought him. Lo and behold, immediate nerf

Did they seriously nerf his cages? He was barely released and they took away massive amounts on information 😑😑
