Them making the maps more unsafe was the biggest buff killers have gotten in the history of DBD. Solo Q is mostly a slaughtering ground now, more for the masochist than anything. I played like 5-6 red rank survivor matches today and literally all of them were hatch games.
But you don't lose pips at all if you just farm some people with BT before you die so red ranks remains as boosted as ever.
They didnt really make the maps more unsafe, the took out godloops and replaced with multiple weak loops that can be chained. And solo q is just as bad as killer really. Because you are at the mercy of people who do work at peak efficiency. More to my point that hasnt been a change to the survivor objective for killer fun. That was a bone thrown to the killers for several patches of constant nerfs and outright stating that they are only interested in survivor fun.
What I want to see is a change to the survivors objective that challenges their skill. I am a crap survivor, i wont lie i suck at it, dont find it interesting, but right now? I walk up to gen, finish gen, sometimes get a free time boost cause of a.skill check and then run to pallets and throw them down with reckless abandon. 3 escape np.
As it stands, killers objectives are constantly being made more difficult by gimping the killer. Chainsaws having overheat after a few seconds? Pigs traps not working when survivors leave the gate, literally how they were designed to work?
This would be asinine in any other game, but it is considered fine here.

You honestly made so much sense in this post.
I cannot agree with you more than I already do. I'm mind blown away how logical this post is.
I'm not being sarcastic, I agree with you 100%.
Why are killers forced to change their play style, their build, their meta while all survivors have to do is run from one pallet, loop it once or twice, drop it and run to another and proceed to do the same while 3 gens already fly by.
@DwightOP I'm right here with you man.
Actually that does beg the question, when the last time survivors got a nerf that required them to get more skilled. Im not talking gen speed nerfs or toolboxes. I mean like, harder skill checks something to make survivors have to improve gameplay? Im not sarcastic either im rather lax on patch notes and legitimately dont know.

Thank you for this @Hoodied it explains things very well.
The Devs do know their own game, they know their game very well indeed. And yes, Billy will now require that little bit more skill to effectively manage his power - I personally don't see that as a bad thing at all. He's still going to be very strong and there's still going to be counterplay to him.
But there already is counterplay, the devs even said they liked where he is at and then made these changes. I want to agree and see wait for the changes but with what they are suggesting.... Well lets just say that after the past few killer changes im not exactly hopeful :/
-
@[Deleted User] said:
If you read their developer update, they clearly explain why they nerfed him: they are happy with how he performs and they think he has a reasonable amount of counterplay.
There, two good reasons to nerf him
Basically. After announcing that it really does seem like all the devs want are a bunch of useless killers who are there for atmosphere and not for actual gameplay.

I, personally, me, myself, I, don't like NOED because I believe it is a crutch perk that many killers rely on when they can't pressure gens successfully. I believe this because I, personally, was one of those killers who relied on NOED as a crutch, and I recommend new players stay away form that perk for a reason.
It damages their player growth and prevents them getting better at pressuring the gens, because their mindset will always be "its fine, I've got noed to rely on".
I make every effort to cleanse as many totems in a match, but as solo that's pretty difficult unless I'm using detectives hunch and my team know how to do gens (which never happens lol).
This could just be a leftover opinion from the times NOED wasn't a hex perk, but personally I despise the perk with a passion. More than most other "toxic" things in the game (except iri head huntress :/).
I don't believe the perk is healthy for the game, because it punishes solo survivors much more than swf teams, who are the teams that NOED is "needed" for as they're much stronger. Swf teams can easily coordinate totems.
I think NOED would be fine if solo survivors had a totem counter. Either base kit or worked into a perk like Small Game (even though I'd really rather not have another perk that give swf information when they get it for free, what can you do). This means it'd be less powerful as solos could more easily do totems, particularly on maps such as Midwich, Glenvale, Badham, or Lèry's.
In reference to your point about it being countered by swf teams. Thats the full point though. If NOED doesnt go off cause they did totems, thats still about a minute or so extra the killer has to find and down people. If you cleanse, awesome the game is slowed a tiny bit, if you dont cleanse and rush, you get smacked and downed. Its one of the very few, STRONG perks killers have and even then they slapped it on totems because it has to be removable. Could you imagine, the sheer salt rage, if suddenly next update DS BT Adrenaline all could be deactivated by the killer by stomping on some glowing ball or something? Wouldn't that be stupid? Thats what killers have to deal with every day
-
I used to enjoy playing plague or the pig, they were fun, but lately. I know ppl wanna say "killers are toxic too, not every survivor is toxic." But seriously? I dont see non toxic survivors anymore, every single game its "#########, trash killer git gud" blah blah blah. And ontop of that, it never gets addressed. Every patch, every q&a we hear about how the game is so unfair for new survivors how about how it's taking away their fun do we have a killer that actually can do his job well, and now i hear the DC penalty is gone now? I want to like playing killer but right now this game is almost as toxic as League of Legends if not moreso now
-
@OmegaXII said:
The first paragraph of the dev update explains how fair it is to play as and against billy, BY DEVS YOURSELF.
So.. why nerf him? Doesn't that skew the already balanced state of him? Why touch the already balanced killer? There are so many low tier killers that need help (Clown, legion, trapper, etc..), and you guys are touching the one you believe that's the most fair for both sides? WHY?
Or you guys just decide to put a red bar to his power because you can't come out with add-ons idea? Seriously, why?
Because the game is balanced so that killers have to be top tier to win matches but brand new survivor players can win. Remember, all killers should require you to be a master in order to play at the average level of play while survivors need to understand how to turn on the game.
-
@Dead_by_Gadfly said:
Its far more rewarding to win as killer because its so difficult. When I die as survivor its kund of whatever. When 4 escape as killer that ######### hurts. Because of that for me tge opposite is also true. When i escape as survivor its also kind of whatever, but when i 4k as killer, against a good team, it feels great.
Thats awesome 👍👍
-
Lets just be honest with what the real issue players are having.
Noone wants to let killers play the game with any abilities or strategy. Killers are only allowed to blindly walk forward towards a survivor until they get hit by a pallet or looped. At which point, the killer must then stop chasing and walk around blindly not using anything to track people.
-
@Pantemic said:
Playing Killer needs time man, you aint gonna get good at that in even a few hundred hours. And you shouldn't focus on the bad games you have, there will always be good and bad matches. Just keep on going if you enjoy the killer gameplay in itself and at some point you will be good enough to beat these premade teams aswell. :)
Honestly? Why are new players, heck even more casual players expected to perform at the highest level of play? I know killer takes practice but killer shouldnt be a role exclusive to otz or other top tiers, everyone should be able to play and have a reasonable expectation not to get trashed by people 12 ranks above them.
-
Survivors: KILLURS WHO USE NOED ARE TRASH ITS CRUTCH PERK U FAIR
Killers: We need it to counter the several free opportunities you get from decisive strike dh OoO and having 4 people ignoring everything except leaving as fast as then can with minimal interaction.
Survivors: KILLERS ARE MEAN AND JUST WANT 4K I SHOULDNT HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME THE WAY THEY WANT1!1!!1!!1
-
I just hate the fact that killers dont have reliable heavy impact perks, we have heavy impacting perks yeah but nothing like survivors where we can stop their game momentum
-
Id put nurse in high maybe even low a tier. Her bugs and ability to catch on anything shouldnt be ignored
-
Its a shame the killer is penalized when survivors get stupid aggro and bullrush a hook with the killer there. They sit there waiting, i see no reason for the killer to leave either, thats at least 2 people pressured possibly more
-
Its the survivors fault for having the gaul to do it literally in the face if the killer. The killer shouldnt get punished for that.
-
I dont get why killers arent allowed to have fun. No fun abilities, no quality of life, not allowed to kill, every change thats suggested makes this killer less fun.
-
So lemme gst this right, DS would be on 1 person per game, being the obsession and the stun would be reduced? If thats what you are saying i dont think thats too unreasonable. The fact is i havent had a game.in my past 10 games without 3 DSs in it so id gladly take 1 weaker one gauranteed.
Edit: @Zandrys98 comment because my phone glitched and it warped me to his post so j thought he was op
Edit 2: I straight up didnt realise i commented on this a while ago, wow im confused.
-
I hate the fact the plague only gets her power when survivors cleanse. Not that i know what id change it to but the fact that survivors have sole control over the biggest part of her power literally being able to deny its use is insane. Its a strong power to be sure but so rarely do i really get to use it that, while she is my fav character, i cant help but feel gimped while playing her
-
Waot that pig addon for blindness includes jigsaw boxes? The addon says it doesnt include boxes
-
Id say nurse.would be top tier if she worked right but with all her glitches and the sheer amount of effort to play i cant say shes better than mid tier. Id say high tier if her mistakes werent game changing
-
Why should ANY KILLER BE NERFED FOR.USING THEIR POWER. Tell you what. If you want PH to be penalized for using his.power. i want a global 5 second stun to survivors whenever a gen is done. Thats stupid right? Like wouldnt that be the worst thing ever??? Thats what you want for killers
-
@Grim said:
@SquirrelKnight that'd be how they work yes. If cages no longer took a hook state and you swapped between then they'd have 2 for each
That would be the most worthless power in the game. That is the worst idea for.this game i have heard of in a VERY long time ☹️☹️

I don't know about 90%, but that's a better fix than the piddly Emblem penalty the game currently has.
@GoshJosh said:

Name a fix? Entity progression slows up to 90%, based on killer's proximity to the hooked survivor. There you go.
Already did it, survivors abused it with 2 ppl just outside killers range so the killer would hook someone. See two people. If he chased one the hooked.person got freed, if he didnt the hooked person would take forever to die.
Survivors encouraged the tunneling and camping meta and dont wanna deal with the consequences of it.

You are missing the point, they are talking about when the killer burns a Mori offering, that you shouldn't be able to mori when escaping from a cage, as you were never hooked in the first place, which is one of the requirements for the offering(s)
They are not talking about mori offering. Specifically it is moriing off the hook. And yes, i would say a 1 use offering would be stronger than a perk. That being said id support it ignoring the mori from rancor and devour hope
Edit: just remembered they are called offerings. Also continuation.
If we fully seperate cages and hooks then should PH hook once and cage once, does that mean the survivor gets a free hook state cause he switched between
-
So if he cant mini mori with his cages, what does his power do? Im dead serious, his powers are fun but rather mediocre no and then you want to take away the mori ability if he uses it? If thats the case then it should require much more time to free a survivor from the cages, cause then whats the ducking point of them
-
Remember, as the killer you are not fighting against the survivors, you are fighting against an invisible clock and game.mechanics.
-
Mkay, i dont play as often as i should so i dont remember all the numbers off the top of my head. My b
-
Its like ive said on other threads so ill say it again here. PH is not meant to be a strong killer. He is a cool look with a "fun" power. His power really interactive and fun but deemed so strong it has built in limitations and easy ways around it. New survivor players have to be able to play around something with minimal effort, hence drawbacks

Something I noticed while playing with Dead Man's Switch- instead of PGTW, run perks to automatically regress generators. I know they dont regress when blocked, but they'll start regressing as soon as they get unblocked. Ruin is nice, but it doesn't help against a good SWF that can find it. I used Surge instead, a middle ground between PGTW and Ruin, and voila! Gen's regressing and lost a small chunk of progress, even when blocked.
Mkay so surge still works, is that it? Im legit asking i dont have surge so i cant try it 🤣
-
Yeah, nearly? Almost? A lot of?
-
Im conflicted. Glad its not a second chance perk, but really really annoyed that it blocks meta killer perks directly, blocking gens which
A. Is cool cause survivors cant work on it for 30 seconds either, however.
B. Also blocks generator interraction perks from working for nearly the full duration for the killer
-
Following BHVRs recent formula of allowing killers to have interesting powers with ridiculous downsides that make it feel like you are fighting the game more than the survivors. I would say he's probably going to end up in mid to low b tier. It is fairly well understood at this point that BHVR doesnt really have an interest in making s tier killers anymore since everytime they do they get heavily abused for it. They already said they dont want to lock strong perks behind paywalls, the same can probably be said for killers.
-
Like i brought up in another thread. The issue with killers as of late has been that everything killer related has been toned down. Cool abilities that have sluggishly long stun periods or clunky hit mechanics that make it hard to use. Perks that dont have that big of an effect at best or are heavily hindering at worst. Ifs sad but new killers are built around lowest level of play. So if a killer can kill new players to easily then they are too strong, which makes for some of the weird balancing issues at higher levels of play (Exe how iri huntress is hated for its power) but then you have new killers with arguably stronger abilities ( Oni with instadown from charged up power) . Its hard to balance but as a killer main.... If i lose, I want to lose to good survivors, not lose to the game mechanics

This is actually a pretty big issue for long term game development. Power creep can significantly impact a game over time.
On one hand, you want players to be interested in new content. On the other hand, do you really want to see perks that are better/stronger than Pop, DS, etc? And then later perks that are even better?
It's a dilemma for developers. It's why they have to get so creative with new perk effects.
Problem is power creep is differently scaled for survivors to killers. They seem terrified to give killers a good STRONG perk while survivors get a STRONG perk every major release.
And just so ppl knkw what i mean.
Killers get 1. Serviceable perk, totally fine but nothing that really changes the meta, usually just another option. 2. A poor quality perk, useful in certain circumstances but either too niche or too many limitations to be really useful. 3. A Terrible quality perk, with a severe limitation or an effect that is just worthless. Perks that, while might work with very VERY specific builds offer nothing to most killers
Meanwhile survivors get
1. A rather strong perk. A perk that, while not as strong as DS, BT, DH etc... Can definitely be used in most situations pretty safely and dont require any work to reap the rewards.
2. Two Serviceable perks, as described before. Not great but not bad, can be used but doesnt really change much.
The problem is that survivors have so many overly strong perks that everything else SEEMS poor. Meanwhile most killer perks that have been released have been rather underwhelming
-
They are about equal though id say new DS has more of an impact because of the fact its affect occurs later in the match. While old DS could hurt killers who had trouble getting started, New DS can stop momentum in the mid to end game which is FAR more influential than having to slap someone again in the early game.
I would rather get booped early on and then have a better stun timer so i can go to them, hit them and get my hook. Rather than it getting close to gates open, one gen left, i slug 2 people and both of them ds me for 5 seconds while they both sprint for the door
-
Steam name, by extension, Mount and Blade Warband icons
-
So killers get nothing because they should just git gud and not tunnel?

But how do you distinguish when a character with different sexuality is added because "why not" and when a character with different sexuality is added because "oh, this will make the game more popular"?
With BHVR it didnt appear too much in their letter. Some companies flat out say it, which is the big difference. If you are gonna do it just do it and noone really cares 🤷♂️. Iunno maybe im just crazy

@Straiden said:

I just think there is no reason for any character to ha e their sexuality focused on. It is an avenue for grief in a game meant to be a mass murder simulation. Has zero to do with the game. Don't give people the extra avenue to be pigs. BHVR. never thinks of consequences though.
Also this. Im kind of annoyed seeing games add gay characters because "Hey look we are inclusive!" I dont care what sexuality people are. Dont wanna hear about it, dont want gender politics thrown in my face. So why would i want to see games i play regularly, especially ones with as toxic of a community as this one can be, flooded with gender politics. Honestly this is a dumpster fire waiting to happen
-
@Straiden said:
Great, so a homophobic player can now choose moris and facecamping based on character's sexuality. Really smart thing to do BHVR. Legitimate harassment, pretty good job so far.
Its not gonna happen. That's just going to be the go-to complaint. A survivor will play a character, and say that its harassment that they got killed and say its the killers homophobia instead of the survivor tbagging at every pallet.

The way the killers can injure survivors is way too op

SLUG. They're not invincible. SLUG!
If we slug we are mean troll bad killers who shouldnt be allowed to pip or play because of our meanness
-
The problem i have with DS and DH (i think they both are right about top tier because DH is reusable and DS kills momentum) is that it is a momentum killer. At first 5 seconds isnt too bad, but bear this in mind, one person has been slugged for a little bit, just got the second person, you pick them up at 59 seconds. You get stunned for 5 seconds. This is what can happen in that 5 seconds (refering to survivors as a b c and d)
1. Survivor A (just having used DS) used his medkit with syringe to heal to full health and bolt off.
2. Survivor B (having been in a generator) picks up survivor C (been slugged for a while)
3. Survivor D now finishes a gen, killer sees everyones auras (a good ways away from him)
4 Killer finishes animation. With 3 survivors at full health and one injured being healed. The killer could have done nothing in this situation because survivor B was the obsession (with DS)
Thats just 1 scenario out of several The Killers have to put up with every single game. Id the game still winnable absolutley, but we are now essentially starting over. This is stressing people out and its one of the biggest contributors to new players leaving
-
Id say no cause op didnt keep the person there with gate and egc. Literally just to lock someone . Id argue its the same as bodyblocking for a survivor if you have borrowed time. Its annoying but if you act toxic then the killer has the perfect right to trap you to use a perk. Thats what rhis was, setting up for rancor kill
-
I feel like she needs at the least bug fixes and QOL. As it stands she requires the most amount of practice and training to even be able to use her at a basic level. I love killers that rake time.to master but mastering her has a very low pay off.
Good survivors will trash a "good" nurse.
Great survivors will go even with a great nurse.
My issue is that with the bugs and sheer effort that mastering her takes. A Godly nurse should be rewarded with a truley destructive gameplay. But she isnt, because with her long fatigue time and blink.limitations (not.to mention the tsunami of bugs), all of her strength to be able to ignore loops and terrain fades away and you are left.with a killer who is very strong in the hands of the best nurse.plauers in the game, and trash for everyone else
-
Let me ask a question, if a killer gets sent to a map they dont like, is it ok that they afk in a corner cause the map is unfair? Its still screwing over the other 4 people but they get a free escape right? Thats the problem, by the technical side, theres nothing really wrong with it except its really unsportsmanlike. Yeah devs may want the killers to play the game but the same can be said in this case. Both unwanted elements are unknown until you start the match. Ultimately id say its wrong to hook suicide instantly with any killer or afk instantly from.any stage. Now, if its been 40 seconds you are hooked and two people are on the ground, i understand a little more, likewise if its 2 minutes, 2 gens are left everyones at full health, i wont blame the killer for saying screw it imma watch youtube either. But as a rule its rather unsportsmanlike unless the skill difference is so vast that it didnt matter what you did
-
"killers recieve 0 bloodpoints for hooking twice in a row" ok so now people are gonna follow around the killer if they were just downed because itll screw over the killer if they hook them? Plus itll increase toxicity 10 fold
-
@Fiv55 said:
Well it goes both ways tbh. There are killers who go after the unhooked person instead of me (the "unhooker"), even tho I was clearly visible (playing shirtless david most of the time). If you ask them about it, they say "its clearly the smartest move", which is true ofc. But sometimes I wish that people have some kind of empathy torwards other people. This game isnt competitive and the best games are those, in which both parties get their fair share of fun.
Idc about my kill or escape rate, as long as it was a fun match. Getting gen rushed or camped on the hook isnt fun for anyone.
Back in the old ruin days I got called a "totem camper", just bc they werent good enough to get gens done with ruin and it was in a good spot (played trapper and they had to disarm the trap first).
The problem is when killers do have empathy and try to play for fun, we get flamed in endgame chat anyway "GGEZ NOOB KILLER, Y U RUN RANCOR SUCH A CHEAP PERK NOOB BADDY KILLER" at some point the empathy kinda goes away as we just play how we want
-
Not playing the game fair or properly? You must hate SWF then right?
-
I think itd be good, as it stands new ruin is too weak to be a hexperk.
Edit: just reread it, the tokens would be a huge issue dunno what i was thinking with it. I like the idea of it not being a hexperk
