  • "In average game"

So like, the average game where 90% of people are dumb?

  • How is the killer supposed to know you dont have any perks?

Also most killers tunnel out the weak link, a good killer who realizes you dont have any Exhaustion perks to assist you in chase and didnt get DS'd upon picking you up is obviously gonna keep that in mind and is gonna try to turn the game into a 3v1

Is it fun? No. Is it effective? Unfortunately.

  • Requiring skill does not justify its strength, especially when it has literally no downside

  • Glad to see that you took the steps to actually understand the complaints of the other side.

  • A whole rework which turns him into a tier based killer to be able to incorporate old Freddy and today's Freddy into the game.

This way people who enjoyed Old Freddy would have him back, and people who enjoy today's Freddy still get to enjoy him

That feeling I know all too well.

I remember when I lost my last remaining Splinter when I prestiged Freddy...That was devastating.

Ive only had a few Splinters and thats because there was a bug at one point that still allowed you to get them even if you had the DLC for that killer.

Those were pretty much all on my Trapper, and then I decided to prestige him. Since Im a bit of a completionist and I didnt want to miss out on things similar to Splinters or (the at the time) map offerings again. I also didnt want to miss out on prestiging. So I got him to P3 as fast as I could, wasting Splinters, Old Map Offerings and Red Envelopes.

Oldest thing I have on him nowadays are BBQ Invitations

Wish we still had those very old dailies that demanded more trials in order to be completed but gave us far greater rewards.

I had kept one of those for so long after theyve been removed. I think up until Plague or Ghost Faces release, it was a Hag one and I believe it was to hook 12 Survivors for 120k

Then one day I misclicked, at the end of a game I clicked "Claim all"

Luckily I still have some artifacts from back then, like a blood web thats 4 years old. I can try to get a screenshot of it when I get back home

I'm not holding my breath that it'll ever get fixed

It's been this way for Pallet's for months now and then they decided to throw it onto DH without bother fixing the issues. If they couldn't figure out how to fix it for Pallet Throws, I have no faith that they'll figure out how to fix it for DH.

I'd love for you to prove me wrong BHVR...

pretty sure it got fixed in the PTB

  • See you next week

  • yes

This upcoming mid chapter will only achieve an 85% increase tho since the eye is being nerfed from 50% to 35%

  • I don't understand why people think the games losing players..

the reason why it looks like its on a decline is because of how heavy these last few months have been in terms of content

    May 2021 Resident Evil PTB

June 2021 - Resident Evil Release

    July 2021 - 5th Year Anniversary Event

    August 2021 - Hellraiser PTB

    September 2021 - Hellraiser Release

We just had 2 really big licenses back to back as well as the anniversary of the game, which I'm pretty sure the game was on sale at the time. Obviously thats gonna attract a lot of new players and not every one is going to stick with a game. If you look at any other game that has a major event or collaboration their player count will increase and then decrease.

Its currently on a decline to its regular player count which is around 70k, "oh but look at the last 30 days!" We're currently in a dry area where every one is waiting for the new patch to come out and I can almost guarantee the peak player count will reach approximately 70k by the end of the month. The game has only grown since its release and I don't see it stopping any time soon

I prefer to paint my screen to complete black. If I don't see myself missing, I might've not missed.

"He's too dangerous to be kept alive!"

  • because shes a crackhead who does the most adorable squeal every time she gets stunned

    who can take her seriously?

  • Angle their camera in a specific way while holding W and A/D

  • just like

put a piece of tape there

  • because she's in my basement

  • I would say make it consistent like every 5 seconds she passive phases and it gives off a visual or audio indicator.

Thing is it might be annoying as well since you have this thing thats constantly bugging you every 5 seconds

  • oh no! not a guy who shares his gameplay with others!

    damn bastard... how dare he!

  • So you want to take old Hex: Ruin

And just call it Hex: Huntress' Lullaby?

where's the logic behind this? It will still have the same problems as before which is screwing over newer players and not doing a damn thing against experienced ones

I think I've booted up DBD once a day (at least) since 2018.

thats a lot lmao, I'm not really far behind. Theres probably 2-3 days a month where I don't log onto DbD since I got it the game, and it has been my main game since I got it back in May 2017. some say I got hooked

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2748038#Comment_2748038

I've heard a lot about Hunt. Some of my DBD friends left DBD for it too. I might check it out if it goes on sale.

As to your point with games, in the span of three days, I lost 30 games with Nurse and then got facecamped for most of the night.

Trust me, my games are pretty garbage.

It goes on sale pretty frequently on steam so I'd imagine it goes on sale on PS/Xbox pretty frequently as well.

And yeah I get that, there are those days/nights where nothing goes your way. I have those all the time but thats why I have multiple games to play, if I'm not feeling one of them I jump to the other. And then there are those occasional nights where nothing goes my way. So thats why I have a few singleplayer games I hop between so I still have something to do to keep me entertained.

I know its kind of a thing, but the civ games are genuinely good too :)

there is nothing really to lose if you stop playing, or hell even taking a break

    Time.

When you spend thousands of hours on something, you just try everything to make it work, and when you give it up, it can be pretty depressing.

From the way OP makes it out they're already becoming depressed with every game they play.

Sure it might be a bit disorienting at first, breaking the normal schedule. But eventually everything will settle and if they feel like they want to return to DbD, there is nothing stopping them. And if he doesn't feel like returning there is nothing stopping them.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2748025#Comment_2748025

Mostly because I don't have anything else to play and the fact that I'm extremely competitive.

Even if I took a break, it wouldn't really change anything. My matches would still be ######### on both sides. Maybe my tolerance of them would be higher, but that wouldn't change the nature of the game.

The fundamental issues I have with the game are unlikely to be resolved.

I mean hey if you want a good, fun, and pretty competitive game that you can play solo or with friends. Hunt: Showdown

I myself am not a huge fan of shooters but this game is probably one of the more unique and fun I've ever played. It takes PvEvP and executes it perfectly. I haven't been playing all too much DbD these days because of it. There's a lot more that I could get into but it would turn into a literal game review.

And from what I'm experiencing, games aren't too bad. They are when you have a bad mindset how ever. Again, just take a step back and drop DbD for a bit. Trust me it'll help in the long run

  • Ok so hold on, I think I got it

Killer is more stressful... because they have more options to chose from?

Like I kind of understand what you're trying to get at but you have a poor choice of words my friend

  • Probably 2-3 weeks from now,

  • Sad to see a respected member of the forums like yourself fall like this, but I don't understand why and how do you view this game like its some sort of job? Unless you're like a streamer and I'm not aware of it there is nothing really to lose if you stop playing, or hell even taking a break

I myself have been playing for 4 and a half years, I've had my ups and downs with this game and every time I saw it go downwards I would take Mathieu's advice the way it was meant, play something else.

If you're not having fun with something, don't do it. Thats what games are for, to have fun. Thats what pretty much every one on this forum does, they play DbD for fun. Most of them wont admit it for some odd reason, but there is a reason that they come back again and again.

So, want to hear my advice? Literally uninstall the game and don't come back to it for a time that you think is best for you, it can be a week, 2 weeks, a month or even multiple months. The game will most likely still be here to welcome you back with open arms and hopefully you'll be back with a fresh and clear mind.

  • No

Only reason why there's not much light shed on it is because CoH and Dead Hard are the main hot topics right now when it comes to perks. The moment one or both gets nerfed I can guarantee Overcome will be next

  • Clown

He might as well be a Survivor

  • @AngyKiller said:

The Trapper was actually good and Survivors were terrified of where to step. 😪

You were clearly playing a different game lmao

  • I remember being so into the game and watching tones of videos trying to learn and get better

Then one day I wanted to know something specific about a killer, so I go on the wiki. I get my information but decide to scroll further down just to see if maybe theres more

Then I see... this killer, "The Hag? Who's that? Is she new?" (This is June/July 2017, no, she was not new at the time). I thought it was fake since I haven't seen any YouTube videos of her at all, so I left it at that. Another thing to add is I had about 100 hours into the game, and I've never seen her, it didn't show locked characters back then either it was just blank like the character didn't exist so thats why I had no idea of her existence. Then I boot up the game and load into Pale Rose for the very first time. And then I heard the crows at the main building, and I thought: "holy ######### The Hag is real". It wasn't even a Hag, I forgot what killer it was but I just know it wasn't a Hag.

It took me so long to finally verse a Hag, and I remember being hyped as all hell when it finally happened and I loved versing her so much that she became my favorite killer for quite some time

Nowadays, I ######### hate that lil gremlin

Killer IS the middle ground; They kill SoloQs and die to SWFs. 😁

I mean, adding voice comms literally gives SoloQs the same exact buffs that SWFs have, but everyone is against it for vague reasons and half-baked excuses. Mostly to keep SWF strong by forcing devs to keep Killers balanced for SoloQs. 🙃

is that why theyre buffing solo q

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2745710#Comment_2745710

Absolutely. I see flashlight saves about every 3 games and god forbid you have 2 people really good at flashlights, they can get instablinds. Not to mention how good flashlights are for chases.

Flashlight saves mean that at least 2 Survivors were involved, and that also means they werent on gens. And if you have 2 Survivors going for insta blinds, they are not on gens and the killer can still react to it. The most perfect timing they can get is if they blind the killer at the same time, being a .5 seconds blind. Sure it might work the first time but afterwards the killer should be on the look out for these things

Also, blinding in chase (more specifically at a pallet) is only a last resort when youre stuck in a dead zone and you some how have to get pass the killer. Unless you have Iron Will the killer can still hear you, as well as your footsteps al though those are a bit unreliable/inconsistent.

What is with folks asking for nerfs to perks or mechanics for doing literally what they are designed to do?

When it was directional, Huntress was pretty trash; people knew what direction she was coming from and bailed before she could get line of sight.

Then again, you also want to increase her TR, so basically, your suggestion is 'Make Huntress unplayable'?

how in the world would increasing her TR and getting rid of her Lullaby make her unplayable?? She literally has a 45m warning that can't be reduced.

What benefit does the Lullaby give? All it does is limit her synergy with Undetectable/Oblivious perks.

  • When taking in factor add ons? Absolutely not.

Blood Amber giving 15 seconds (22.5 if you bring in Prayer Beads) is pretty damn good. It also has the bonus of allowing you a different method of escape even if the hatch has been closed.

  • i remember when people would just DC when they're Ruin got cleansed lmao

chances are, they would of likely done all these actions even if they're totem was still up

All the exhaustion perks have an easily accessible condition. Overcome is literally just getting hit, Sprint Burst is running, Lithe is jumping through a window.

How is risk/reward play a reason to nerf a perk. It's just a different play style.

If there is data showing the perk is outperforming other perks, then I'd say nerf the perk. But I really honestly think people just get frustrated at the perk and want it nerfed, which again, is not a reason to nerf a perk.

I guess you could say that Dead Hard allows for successful Borrowed Time plays. But I don't think that's a bad thing.

All other Exhaustion Perks have easily accessible conditions, but no where near as accessible as Dead Hard. If you're caught in a dead zone, Lithe or Balanced Landing ain't gonna help you all too much. Sprint Burst will and thats the strength of it, turning dead zones into semi safe zones. Overcome is another problematic perk, only reason why it doesn't receive as many complaints is because Dead Hard has been the complained about Exhaustion perk for a while, I can guarantee the moment Dead Hard gets nerfed, Overcome will be next hot topic.

Also a risk reward playstyle without involving any risk is not an issue to you? Imagine if hexes weren't hexes but they just had their effects as a passive. Its literally all reward with no risk involved and there is absolutely nothing the other side can do about it (maybe a bad example but I'm sleep deprived and its the only thing that comes to mind)

Also you have to take data with a grain of salt, as it only shows a fraction of the whole picture. Just take Nurse for example.

  • Any time a side loses in a very short amount of time, its because they made a lot of mistakes

In this case it was versing LilithOmen

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2744935#Comment_2744935

Again, why is Dead Hard a problem? Can you show data proving that Dead Hard is outperforming other exhaustion perks in extending chases.

Dead hard is designed to dodge a hit and 1 second of distance.

I don't have data but I can explain why its a problem

The reason why is because its the only exhaustion perk that has a very easily accessible condition, and that's being injured. It also allows Survivors to play a "more risk, more reward" play style without actually involving any risk, only the reward. A good Survivor with Dead Hard is nasty, the same can only really be said with Sprint Burst but the difference is the timing. With Sprint Burst you almost have to go out of your way to 99 it, some times you have it almost ready and the killer is coming and you can save it during chase but thats more luck than skill.

I personally don't think Dead Hard is as big of an issue as people make it out to be, but I do still think its an issue.

  • Boons are fine, only problem really is CoH. I'd even go as far as to say CoH just highlights a bigger issue that people don't really seem to realize and thats just healing in general. So how do we fix that?

I've said this multiple times and I'll say it again

Make healing require more charges after each heal, first heal requires 16 (like now) and every heal afterwards you add an additional 2 charges. so 16, then 18, 20, 22 and so on. This nerfs CoH while still keeping it a strong perk, it nerfs medkits which are arguably the strongest item in the game, and also keeps Boons strong but not overwhelming. Since again, the only real problem is CoH

I will say tho, Boons should have a disk radius instead of a cylindrical. So they don't work on multiple floors and actually become quite a pain on maps like RPD, Ironworks, Hawki- oh

    Moving on, Dead Hard!

After Dead Hard is used the Survivor cannot perform any action (similar to The Doctors shock) for 3 seconds. This keeps the perks intended design which is for dodging hits and removes Dead Hard for distance.

  • Simple, just be Otz.

  • They never have

  • @Iudex_Nemesis said:

It will probably end up like hangman's trick. Buffed in the ptb then nerfed shortly after. I don't see anyone running that perk now.

Ok but I'm pretty sure we can agree that knowing where all Survivors exact location, their address, phone number and social security number just for picking up one of them was pretty busted

Dead Mans Switch is a strong perk especially paired with Pain Resonance, but I don't see it getting a huge nerf if any.

  • Since I don't know the whole picture and I didn't see the game myself I can't really comment on that. What I can say how ever is Flashlights are probably the weakest item a Survivor can bring, all you need to do as killer is angle yourself in awkward positions and you can pretty much avoid any blind. Also you're risking precious gen time to go for that Flashlight save, and if you don't succeed that's even more time wasted.

As for the tourney setting/gamemode. It wouldn't work, even with incentives like cosmetics you would have people complain that cosmetics are locked behind a gamemode, and if you make it something like a charm then no one would give a damn. I was for this sort of thing but just thinking about it makes me realize that it doesn't benefit any one.

SWF groups whose intentions are to bully the killer wouldn't go there either since a good killer can deal with those sort of things. And if you force SWF's to go into this mode they would simply snipe themselves in Solo Q lobbies.

It was one of my favorites, and now I am JUST that much more likely to get MacMillan or Autohaven spam. Sad.

Im pretty sure the game doesn't pick maps themselves, but picks the realm. Once the realm is decided it will randomly pick one of the locations.

So Autohaven or MacMillan doesn't have a higher chance to appear than Lery's or RPD.
