Matchmaking has been a problem since the literal beginning of the game and there's many reasons why. People throwing matches to get easier games, the skewed ranking system making it so people can rank up so easily that they're in ranks they shouldn't be, rank reset, and just broken matchmaking in general.

David's groans of pain.

What annoys me to no end in these conversations is when people are discussing one topic, people try to bring in other stuff to justify it.
"You don't like NOED? What about DS?"
"You don't like the hatch? What about the pink mori?"
"You don't like omega blink Nurse? What about SWF?"I understand where this comes from, but that shouldn't be the answer. Fixing annoying crap with more annoying crap isn't the way to go.

Your angst is arousing to say the least.
The way you word your reply is pretty funny, as if NOED stops teabagging. It doesn't. Once they're at the edge of the gate, they're in the clear regardless of whether you have NOED or not. I think the perk that actually stops that is Blood Warden. And you grouping everyone who doesn't like NOED as 'arrogant' is ridiculous. People have different opinions. What makes it arrogant is usually how it's presented.
At the end of the day, NOED only furthers the gap between solo and SWF. And if the killer applies good map pressure, one person can't take out all the totems by themself. Pair that with a powerful killer like the Nurse, who can wreak pure havoc without it already, and your chances of actually having the time to find the totems and destroy them is slim. It's bad game design. Delfador pretty much summed it up already, so I won't bother repeating anything.
And you saying that my angst is arousing is kinda creepy.
I don't group anyone who dislikes NOED as arrogant. I don't personally care if someone likes it or doesn't. I group people that are arrogant enough to tell killers they "need a crutch" for using NOED when SWF is a crutch for the survivor community to rank up. I stand by my statement 99% wouldn't ever get past rank 5 without it. That's before we even go down the list of other crutch perks such as DS that punishes the killer for winning the chase with no interaction from the killer at all.
Not having the time to find the totems is part of the game, much as killers don't have time to down survivors 12 times before the gens pop. I can't be assed to care.
If me delighting in the schadenfreude of survivor mains is creepy, then consider me the creepiest. I LOVE it. If I can make them punch a hole in the tv screen I'd dance a jig and it could only be topped if it happened on stream.
That said I am an honest person. I have spent much time in the past protecting survivor perks in discussion on the steam forums to a far greater degree then ANY other person on those forums and the hatch as well. I was successful with the hatch and self care unfortunately the devs decided to change the exhaustion perks.Well your statement didn't make that quite clear and came off as a broad claim, so sorry for the confusion. And all because something is part of the game, doesn't mean it has to stay that way or that it should come into play in such major ways. I think it's important that people in the community bring attention to stuff like this or the game will never improve.
As for the whole schadenfreude thing, I believe the term you used was 'aroused' which definitely isn't the same thing, at least, not in the way it's usually used.

What if the killer doesn't camp?
Then that's purely their decision. If they down someone early in the game, camping would pretty much guarantee a tie at least. But if they don't and they apply good map pressure, it makes it very difficult for survivors to take out the totems, especially if they're playing a viable killer. Which leads me to another issue with NOED. It furthers the gap between Solos and SWF even more. NOED is incredibly weak against SWF, but against solos who don't have the same communication, a lot of time could be wasted searching.
A simple buff to small game would solve that, a counter showing how many totems are left. I think noed adds a flavour of fear and uncertainty when I'm survivor but that's just me.
Fair point. I can agree with the small game buff. I run it and it helps, but I still feel like I have to search the map to be sure.

I despise NOED and DS. DS just cheats a killer out of a hook, and NOED is a break in the knees for solos if the killer can apply decent pressure. Some of the most frustrating games I've played are the ones where I'd take out three or four totems and NOED still activates because the others can't be bothered to take out a totem. The game would be leagues better if these two perks were either reworked or tossed.

Camping isn't bannable. If someone is being camped, rush gens. If you're being camped, try to signal to the others that the killer is near and stuggle for as long as possible.

WARNING: WALL OF TEXT
Trapper has brute strength and if there was set up time, he would have the advantage. If not, he most likely loses. His weapon is good for close range but others are better.
The Nurse is fast and has a powerful ability but gets stunned every time she uses it. it already takes two hits to down a survivor, it probably takes more to down a killer. So while she's stunned, she would probably be taken out.
The Wraith has invisibility but is visible while he moves and can't attack. His weapon is also good for close range but, again, there's better. Unless he holds perfectly still and no one hits him by accident, and the last opponent is so weak that they can't react fast enough when he uncloaks, he loses.
The Hillbilly has one of the best weapons for close range as well as speed, but has no range whatsoever and the same goes for Leatherface but minus speed.
The Pig is sneaky but I doubt she's stealthy enough to avoid danger. Her weapon is one of the worst for close range combat and it's seriously unlikely she'd be able to get a RBT on anybody.
The Clown also has one of the worst weapons for close range combat. His tonic gives him an edge but once he runs out, he's a giant hit box.
Freddy, ironicly, is a pretty likely candidate, but his power is based off of fear. I doubt all the killers would be that afraid of him so while he might not die, he would probably not be on his feet.
As for the Hag, well, she would probably be the first one out. Even is she had time to set up her traps, she would get stomped.
The Doctor's ability might give him an edge. If the other killers get stunned the way survivors do when shocked, he might have a chance. But since it takes him time to power it up, he has multiple windows of vulnerability.
The Shape also has a good shot with a pretty decent weapon for close range and a one-shot ability. But, again, it takes him time to build up his power so unless the other killers let him watch them the whole time, I don't think he comes out on top.
The Legion are interesting. They're probably the most agile of the killers and they're pretty fast too. And for fun, I'll say that all four of them are caught up in this fight. Unless they team up on one killer at once and no one else attacks them, they probably wouldn't win. In almost any one on one, they'd lose. They're fast but they don't pack a punch, and they're weapons aren't suited for close range combat. And even in a two against one, they would still lose against killers like the Trapper, Shape, Huntress, or Wraith.
The Spirit is incredibly powerful with the ability to phase and be completely invisible. Her weapon is specifically designed for close range as well.
And the Huntress has not only a good close range weapon, but a good ranged attack as well. And according to her lore, she has killer a few soldiers.
The final two would probably be the Huntress and the Spirit. As for who would win, I'd say the Huntress. The Spirit might get a hit in due to the Huntresses humming giving away her location, but once the Huntress caught on to her power I don't think it would work again. Couple that with the fact that the Spirit has to hold still for a moment to use her ability, and the fact that the Huntress is the only one who's a seasoned hunter, and I think she comes out on top.

Trust me, consoles are toxic enough. People are already willing to go the extra mile to privately message you. They don't need to make it any easier.

I only dodge for bad ping. If I ever play against anyone hacking or I'm being farmed, that's fair game to DC as well. Otherwise, I just try to roll with the punches.

@Tzeentchling9 said: Credit where credit is due, they definitely listened to Survivors' complaints about Hallowed Blight. All they complained about was Survivors' side objective not progressing the match, now all they have to do is rush gens and run out the gate as usual. Yea they only have to do all that while avoiding someone that can kill them? lmao - the way killers on this forum talk about how easy it is for survivors really makes me believe most killers sit in corners until the match is over.
It certainly feels that way with how fast I've been flying through the gens this entire event. It has not been uncommon for us to have at least three gens done before the first hook. That's a problem with the killer, not the survivors. If you can't end a chase in ~15 seconds, then you're either a bad killer, or you need to give up the chase because the survivor is better than you.
Lulwut? 15 seconds? So what, you only every chase someone in an open field as Hillbilly? I don't play hillbilly. I play mostly Wraith, you just need to get better at mindgames. So only play against blind Survivors, gotcha. The dude ends chases in under 15 seconds with Wraith, I think you need to show him more respect. Clearly we have a legend amongst us. I mean some maps have multiple ultra safe pallets all together which made me think it wasn't possible but apparantly this guy plays Wraith like he was Nurse.
I'd love to see some gameplay footage.
Ideally. Ideally, you should end chases in 15 seconds. If you can't, give up the chase. You will lose so much pressure if you take longer than that. There's so many people who just can't give up for the life of them, and I really don't get it.
And before you come back with your Holier Than Thou speech about MiNd GaMeS. We have math on our side to back up our claim. Getting a hit stops you for what, three seconds? That's a fiveth of your time there and they got a speed boost. Break a pallet? That's two seconds of you not moving. Bloodlust? You've already used up your entire 15 second allotment of time to hit teir 1.
Feel free to provide evidence that contradicts the math.
Blade wipe animation lasts about one second, survivor speed boost is two. If you're chasing in a straight line, yeah, you won't get the hit. You aren't supposed to break pallets all the time. The only pallets you have to break are usually structure pallets. In a usual situation: You find a survivor at a gen. You get the hit as they run from the gen, they get the speed boost (maybe make a few turns) and you blade wipe for one second. Now the survivor is at a basic pallet, they throw it down as you approach. You start walking around it, they loop it once, and as you are about to catch up to them, they vault, but you moonwalk and lunge hit them. That should take about 15-20 seconds.
So, you describe a situation where a survivor hears the terror radius and chooses not to run or hide, giving you an early hit. This would only make sense if you were 1.) playing against potatoes, 2.)Playing as the Wraith, where you would need to factor in the time it takes to uncloak, 3.) Tier 1 Myers who's ridiculously slow (or M&A + Dead Rabbit Myers, which involves an add-on which you might not even have and can't run all the time.), or 4.) Playing the spirit who is already a consistently viable killer.
You also describe a situation where the survivor chooses to run to an unsafe pallet and falls for the first mindgame you make. So, essentially, the survivor needs to make a bunch of mistakes for you to end a chase in fifteen seconds. Not to mention chase extending perks, like SB, which speed stacks with the hit boost and is a fairly popular perk or DS which could end up extending the chase further. In a sense, you described an incredibly ideal situation. And kindly refrain from bringing rank into the argument. Given time, anyone can get to the red ranks.
-
I love the idea of secondary objectives because it would slow games down a bit and give the survivor role more to do. But we should also take into account the killers that don't need this change. The Nurse, Hag, Hillbilly, and Spirit are okay the way things are now, so they would need some changes if this were ever put into the game.
-
It's the same issue as the Hallowed Blight event. The grind is easier for survivors so more people are playing that role which results in fewer lobbies.

They're very 'meh.' Feng's is nice and the Huntress's mask is pretty sweet, but nothing too mindblowing. No hate to the devs, but that's my opinion as well.
-
Decisive Strike because it rewards failure for survivors and punishes killers for success. NOeD because it is easily countered by SWF but for solos it can screw you over, depending on your team. Dying Light because it promotes tunneling, which I know is fair play but it's still not very fun for the survivor, especially if they aren't even running an obsession perk. Monstrous Shrine, Beast of Prey, Thanatophobia, and No Mither because they are simply terrible.

Like i said, i don't care about either sides fun. 3 man survivor team? Good for me, ez points. i'm on the 3 man team, fine by me. Gather as many points as i can, and if possible, loop the killer. Simple as that.
Good thing we don't balance things around what you think, since you don't care about either side's fun. Imagine if the devs followed this logic.
At the end of the day, three-man games aren't how it should be.The survivor side will just get stomped if the killer knows what he's doing, and the killer will barely have a game. And even if the devs don't do enough about DCing, the other survivors will end up losing points, items, offerings, and time. More needs to be done against people who DC.
To an extent, I think we should care about the other side's fun. Not to the point where we get guilt tripped into playing by made-up rules or anything, but when there's an issue that impacts the game a lot, like DCing without punishment or imbalance, we should care enough to try and fix it.
No, not gonna happen. You have one side that complains if something is done with the other side, and you have another side that uses "Sweaty" add-ons just to get the 4k. Get over it, it's not something to be complaining about.
The hanging of the lobby to the point people often quit to get out of that screen further increasing the problem is though. Be prepared to have it addressed in the future. It can take minutes for the game to read that loading screen quitter as "timed out". The more people abuse it, and it is being abused, the faster the fix will come.
Ask me if i give a #########.
If you don't care then why bother commenting on the issue in the first place?
-
I would like more in the animation as well. I wish the survivors had a bit more expression so they actually looked like they were in pain on the hook or happy to escape. I remember some one suggested that they all have their own unique animations at the start of the game, which I think would be cool. But keep in mind, animation takes time and money that the devs should probably focus elsewhere right now. Maybe when the game is in a better spot, they could do something like this.
-
I'm in support of a total overhaul. I just wish that the fact that they're a gang actually came into their ability, not just cosmetic.
-
I'm actually working on a couple myself. I don't know why I'm putting so much effort into them, I guess I just find character design fun.
The first is the Mariner, a cloaked sailor with a harpoon for a weapon which he can throw. I considered either having it go through objects and hit you, or be able to pin you to things. Still working on it.
The other one is the Dove, a killer who wears a white bird mask and injects survivors with a variety of poisons which cause varying affects.

This is about people DCing all the time with nothing being done. And I will not get over it, because it's a major issue right now and if we don't bring it up, then it'll stay a broken mess.

I love this, though some of the numbers might need to be tweaked. I've thought that the survivors needed differences since day one.
-
I've always thought that each survivor's perks should be better if used on them specifically, but I doubt it'll ever be added.

Dude, it's just teabagging. A simpler fix is to just not let it get to you that much.
-
Instantly worry about who the fan base would ship me with. The rule 34 would probably be scarier than the killer tbh.
-
All of them are terrifying but the eerie ones scare me the most. Myers is the creepiest. He doesn't have any motivation, he doesn't make a sound, and the way he stalks his victims is freaky. He also seems the most real, like someone out there that could exist. His appearance as well, with the blank white mask, is creepy. The way the Wraith looks and moves is just off enough to be unsettling and his weapon is easily the scariest. The spirit looks the scariest and you'd be able to tell when she's coming, but you'd never tell from where she's coming which is completely horrifying.
