  • Hag tends to get 4Ks all the time when I run into her. Most people aren't specced to verse her because the perks that work best against her are junk that fell out of the meta ages ago.

And since she's far from meta and almost never used only the good hag mains use her and most people aren't used to dealing with her, especially newer players.

I do agree though she is just a terribly-designed killer. Incentivizes camping and just really bad.

  • @OldHunterLight said:

I do want a buff for distortion but when you think about it, isn't the point of running it not to hide but to find the killer's perks?

That is how I run it, if I pass through a totem and 1 stack goes then undying, if I'm healing close to the killer and 1 stack goes then nurses, if he hooked and 1 token goes then bbq.

I do wish there was a buff but currently as it is now it is really strong when paired with OoO especially with the new ruin/tinkerer/undying meta.

No, the point of distortion is to hide your aura. It just so happens that, due to bad design, most people run it to scout the killer's perks. When they even run it. The truth is most people don't even run this junk perk. I can't even remember the last time I saw a survivor use it in the endgame screen.

  • @Sluzzy said:

It should be unlimited. I think it would make the game more interesting and cause killers to re-think whether they should use an aura perk every match.

Should but this is only going to happen when pigs fly.

  • @Mazoobi said:

    Yeah distortion needs some help

Goes against their design philosophy. BHVR has been clearly nerfing stealth and hiding mechanics and has been buffing aura and detection abilities for years now.

We are never seeing a good perk that lets you hide from a killer or hide from their aura sight.

  • Yui.

    Her fashion sense is abominable.

I don't see the problem. I have dwight, claudette, feng, and nea and p3 50 with all perks and I've only been playing since April 2020.. I also have spirit, doc and trapper p3 50 with all perks. Maybe do the challenges?

Obviously he has a life where he isn't playing the game nonstop.

I just got through playing a match where the killer was Leatherface. I was survivor Jane Romero. The killer hit every survivor rather quickly after one gen was complete. One hit and each survivor was downed. ONE HIT. So for all you pathetic killers that cry and whine about DBD being more survivor friendly.... you all need to stop crying because that allegation isn't true. All it takes is skill, practice and perks. The devs have balanced every ones perks the best they can. And if a killer has a perk that can down a survivor with one hit, well, you all should be joyous. Instead, you killers cry every time survivors escape. Probably, because you aren't good enough. Maybe it's because you were raised to always win or where everyone gets a trophy and simply losing wrecks you emotionally. DBD is the most balanced game of it's kind. "You can't win them all."

Well Leatherface is pretty overtuned right now.

They buffed him way too much. It is impossible to avoid him now if you are not in a very good spot with lots of windows. He can zig zag through obstacles like no tomorrow with his new turn rate and he can use that chainsaw forever, and he's fast too. And oh yeah they nerfed all the maps with good windows so now all you have are crap loop spots.

So no surprise you got done in by a leatherface. I can count on one hand the number of times I've won against a Leatherface since his rework. Solo Q teams cannot beat Leatherface. That is practically a fact at this point.

  • Survivor queues for me are very fast during non-peak hours. During prime time in the evening that changes and the queues can go to about 4 minutes.

  • I'm at a point where blood points don't matter to me. I still like daily rituals because they give me something to do instead of just playing randomly.

My only request is let us choose what side we get rituals for. I'm done playing killer and just play survivor these days. I only want to get survivor rituals.

  • @Pipefish said:

This goes at least back to the Billy rework in my opinion. They made Billy a higher skill ceiling with his overheat mechanic and add on changes. Next they plan to give Freddy more of a skill ceiling. Not to mention the mori nerf that gave bad killers a chance to at least do decent. Its getting harder and harder now for new killers to play and excel.

I ain't referring to veteran killers by the way. You all got ruin undying which is overpowered if you know how to play the game. However if you are a new killer I feel this game is becoming more and more unwelcoming. Or maybe its just me, what you all think?

Edit: I forgot the matchmaking issues. Yeah that definitely takes the cake for the new players biggest struggle.

    Disagree.

The game has become increasingly killer-friendly over the years. This game was hardcore survivor-sided 4 years ago. They've made the game much fairer for killers over the years. Tons of changes have been to the benefit of killers - removal of vacuum palettes, addition of bloodlust, auto window blocking, endgame collapse, brighter maps, brighter clothing, complete rework of maps to remove god loops, the list is endless. Most recent change that isn't a general change to the way the game works? Undying. Ridiculously OP perk. Believe me, killers have it easier than ever in the past four years this game has been running.

They've also tried to make it so killers aren't braindead and OP with little effort. Which is a good thing and not a bad thing. Entry level killers can still killer entry level survivors pretty easy. The game is a lot easier for beginner killers than it is for beginner survivors. Meanwhile the killer abilities are being made more skill-based so you ahve higher levels of power available later on when you get better at the game. This makes ranking matter so that killers at low ranks theoretically can fight less able survivors and not dominate, while as you go up in ranks your mastery of your powers gets better. (Theoretically -- this is not the case right now with the broken matchmaking and ranking system).

But it is not a bad thing to make killer powers more skill-based with higher skill ceilings.

That said the game in general is hard to get into for new players, on either side. That's because it's an old game and you will not be matching up against new players ing eneral. You'll be matching up with people who have been playing this game for a while.

Ive had some games recently where it’s a PC 4 man SWF, all high red ranks except one obvious new smurf account rank 17 - 20.

Seems to be obvious that they are doing it to get a lower ranked killer, anyone else experience this?

Is it against terms of service or just bad sportsmanship / poor etiquette?

I've had many games every day for the past 2 years where killers stand around doing nothing.

Seems to be obvious that they are deranking so they can get a low rank so they can fight low rank survivors. Anyone else experience this?

  • There are a lot of ######### survivors out there. I mean we already both escaped and he will still criticize my play. Whatever.

There are also a lot of ######### killers for the record.

I'm level 50 on my main survivor I use (Adam). I had previously unlocked Balanced Landing, and just bought Built to Last from the Shrine. I decided to get both of these perks to Tier 3, and I went from 300k BP (from the apology gift) down to 100k BP.

And you're giving us 10k BP a day as a special event? Incentive to log in? Seriously?

I've been playing a long time and I'm nowhere near unlocking every perk for every killer, and YEARS from unlocking everything on survivor. Survivors are not "just skins" as you like to say, you pick one and you main it, because putting points into every single survivor to get them all "maxed" is what, a billion BP? It's just ridiculous, it's time to remove tiers from the game or something.

No I did not prestige anyone. Yes I run BBQ/WGLF 100% of the time. Yes I'm tired of having only 3 perk slots because of that. No I don't play for the grind, I want to play for fun. Most of the killers I love have the perks I want, so all the BP system is preventing me from doing is playing niche/bad builds, killers I don't enjoy as much, and changing my survivor.

Only 200K? I usually spend around 2 million to max out one perk I want from a fresh survivor. There's way too much bloat in the game if you've been unlocking everything.

For starters, the level 50 blood web needs to be trimmed. make it smaller and while we're at it please remove Toolboxes and all Toolbox addons, because they are all ######### anyway.

  • The pallets and juke spots have already been changed... for the worse for survivors, anyway. You should have seen this game back in 2016.

I don't think hit validation is working at all. Matchmade with a VPN killer from Canada, (I live in Oklahoma and the game servers I almost always connect to are in Virginia), this man was downing everyone from at least 16 meters away. This man had a 7-second delayed stun from a pallet... 7 seconds. Still able to hit me before he got stunned btw.

When I get back home later today, I post the clips

That sounds more like a hacker than the issue being discussed.

"In situations where the Killer has a poor connection to the server, the server will step in and evaluate their hits to make sure that they are fair. If it is determined that the hit only landed due to the Killers weak connection (I.e. The Killer and the Survivor were too far away for the hit to land), the hit is rejected, and the Survivor does not take any damage. In simple terms, the player with a poor connection is at a disadvantage, no matter which side they are playing."

I personally don't think that my 65/63ms ping in this situation was the worse connection between myself and the killer, therefore the hits shouldn't have been granted.

The killer's ping could have been anywhere from 20-50ms and you would have been the one inconvenienced. That's how it is. Don't assume that the game is biased towards killers or anything.

I keep seeing people whining because undying is too strong with ruin but imo the combo ruin+pop is much better since they are probably gonna break ruin anyways, also pop is not a hex so yeah tell me what you think

    And you'd be wrong.

Undying + Ruin is far more oppressive than Ruin + PGTW.

Yes, there is a risk of it breaking early. But their is also the risk of the survivors never breaking it. And even if they break it early that's still usually a good minute of no gens being done. That's not even counting the aura reading which is something killers like to downplay -- same as with BBQ every killer claims they only use it for BP but that's a big fat lie.

Undying + Ruin gives a massive advantage for any killer and almost a sure win if the killer is actually good.

We've lived with Ruin + PGTW for a long time and nobody really complained. Ruin + Undying is definitely much more disruptive.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

Just for sake of reference missing a normal skill check removes 8 charges aka 10% progression then blocks any further progress for 3 seconds.

Also the doctor was probably using Hex:Huntress lullaby which at max rank further increases the skill check penalty to 16% progression lost while making skill checks harder.

So losing what looks like 20% from lullaby effected skill checks is close to whats actually happening if you also factor in the progression blocking of 3 charges which is roughly 3.75% or each skill check denying 16% lost + 3.75% denied = 19.75%.

Ah this sounds about right. Where is the 3.75% coming from? I'm used to the 16% lullaby skill check regression but it looked like I said closer to 20% than 15% which is what threw me for a loop.

  • @OldHunterLight said:

The only way to lose 20% of a gen is most likely lullaby and overcharge but I'm sure overcharge is still bugged.

Other way is if your teammates or yourself had technician which adds an extra -5% of regression if you miss a skillcheck so that would be -15% by missing 1 skillcheck.

Hmm this might be what happened, since there were three of us working the gen. I didn't know Technician gave you a penalty like that. I thought it helped you, not hurt you.

  • Hence "ish" I don't know the exact number.

Anyway my point is this build Doc used was regressing the gen almost as much as a kick from PGTW. It was definitely way more than 10%. As far as I could tell the perks he was using were Distressing, Huntress Lull, Undying and Unnerving Presence.

  • Bad players are mostly in low ranks. When you get to red ranks those kinds of players disappear. You can't reach red ranks if you play hiding in a corner urban evading all game. There are still potatos in red ranks (I'm one of them) but not on the level you describe.

If you're experiencing this kind of play constantly even in red ranks there is definitely a problem in your country! It's full of rat bastards.

  • @bm33 said:

NOED has been used a bunch in red ranks for awhile, it's why players are constantly complaining about it and wanting it nerfed. As long as survivors ignore totems when there isn't an obvious Hex totem killers will run NOED. Red rank survivors are the worst when it comes to doing totems, many find doing them waste of time and will "go find the totem if NOED activates."

This is a necessity in red ranks. Killers in red rank are very good at what they do and wasting time = team wipe. There is no time to cleanse totems most of the time, especially if you're fighting a strong killer like Freddy, Oni, etc.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

To answer the original question, that there seems to be more Noed LATELY, there is a current Tome mission to hook people after the EGC. NoEd makes this challenge easier: Not only is it easier to down the survivors at the end of the game, you are also running most of the trial with only 3 perks making it that little bit harder and making EGC more likely.

This is probably the real reason people are running NoEd.

Frankly I haven't seen people use NoEd. You know why? Because they're all running Undying Ruin.

  • I am thinking they screwed up the Lullaby Regression bonus. They nerfed Lullaby recently right? I bet they broke something again.

  • Yeah if it resets well. Hahha. But once you get unhooked that's already one person in your network. One person who can see you is worth more than you seeing everyone else IMO. Also you can supplement with Blood Pact or the wedding ring.

  • You might also want to check out Aftercare. Aftercare gives ridiculous levels of info to your team if you can do it right. Massively underrated perk.

I have had many killers accuse us of SWF just because of this perk. I replaced Bond and Open Handed with it. Aftercare is better because your teammates also get to see you, whereas Bond and Open Handed only benefit you (unless your teammates are also running Bond, but who does that in Solo Q).

The real Solo SWF build is Kindred + Aftercare.

No he is not, his map pressure is abysmal (unless he is running speed add-ons) and he has very limited chase potential.

Yeah but he's the king of camping and only Leatherface is better at it.

And like it or not camping wins games.

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

They weren't nerfs, they were bug fixes. The perk description always said you could only rummage each chest once. Being able to rummage the same chest three times was a bug.

Nah the original perk description didn't say that. It also said that OPENING chests was 80% faster, not RUMMAGING chests was 80% faster. They already changed the description.

So I tried it. One gen to go, three fully healed teammates, I'm the only one injured and doing gens, as always. It's been eight minutes. One person has died. One is slugged, the other just got hooked. He immediately closed hatch because of course one of my teammates I'm sure was camping it.

I could be 8 minutes into waiting for my next game by now.

I just do not see how refusing to work on gens isn't playing the game.

It isn't. You can escape the match without touching a single gen. And there are builds and playstyles specialized towards doing that if you feel like playing like a prick.

Also if you're getting caught first in most of your games that may also mean the rest of the team is playing safe at the start of the game as well. You do gens, you are the one who gets found 90% of the time if the rest are hiding. This is highly unusual and highly unlikely, though. I mean I've had it happen maybe once every twenty games at best but if it's constantly happening to you something else is up. Either you live in a country where everyone is a rat bastard or you've got the worst luck don't ever play at the casino.

I'm not a Candyman fan, so I haven't seen a candyman movie. What map would we probably get in a Candyman chapter?

Probably the parking lot map. Would be multi-level likely.

  • LOL seriously that's why? That is so sad.

  • It's fine. Killers need a catch up mechanic in case they've been getting beat up all game.

Giving it a time limit is a bad idea. That just encourages survivors to hide in the end game, which just makes the match longer for everyone

  • @ArchFox said:

I've just been having trouble improving as survivor. I'm terrible at looping, terrible at escaping the killer, I'm having trouble memorizing maps and possible pallet locations and things.

I usually main Cheryl, simply because I'm a SH fan, but I've been doing the rounds collecting teachable perks lately. Most of the time my builds consist of perks that let me rescue and heal the rest of the survivors, improve healing speed, alert me when the killer's near, but I feel like what's letting me down is my lack of ability to survive any encounter with the killer once they find me.

I just want to know how to improve since it feels like I'm stagnating.

If you're serious about improving as survivor go study the YouTube videos and tutorials out there, watch pros play on their stream, and play killer. This is the fastest way to improve as Survivor. You still need to put in the hours; you are not going to beat 1000+ hour killers jsut watching YouTube.

PS - I don't do any of the above, I'm a filthy casual.

  • I mean it was a little too easy getting a key with that build, but since a key nerf is coming up was it even necessary? Not to mention it's far from meta; playing Plunderer/Appraisal is pretty niche and more something you do for kicks rather than because you want to win. It's a weak build that doesn't help you do gens or loop the killer, and in fact is detrimental to the team because you're wasting time opening chests instead of doing gens.

I know it was the game kicking her because she was still streaming when jt happened and my other friend still remained in the party..

I have DC'd occassionally thanks to network issues. I have never been banned. The keyword is occasional. If she is getting 24 hour bans that's some heavy DC'ing she's doing on a habitual basis. I haven't even hit the 5 minute ban mark. She seriously only has herself to blame if she is getting 24 hour bans.

If she is DC'ing enough to get banned that much she's either a serial DC'er whenever she gets hosed by the opposition, or her internet is so bad it keeps cutting out. Both are issues on her end which can be fixed.

  • I heard they nerfed it? I haven't tried it yet since the patch. 3 second cooldown before you can enter a locker or something to that effect. It's a terrible perk now apparently. I liked it when I could combo it with Q&Q.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Blight is overrated, especially on PS4. Even with turn add-ons, his turning is nothing. Survivors will wiggle and make you miss your ability every single time. What does that leave? An M1 killer with no ability. I guess the devs didn't foresee that.

Blight isn't overrated. Even if you miss your turns his mobility alone makes him better than other killers. Having a way to get around the map quickly is huge in this game.

  • Well Power Struggle is never optimal even if you devote your entire build to it. Most killers aren't stupid enough to run into a palette while carrying a survivor.

I ran Flipflop/PowerStruggle/BoilOver/Unbreakable for ten games straight just to test it out. I think I only got it to work maybe twice in those ten games. It's a terrible build to use, I'd only do it for fun.

  • @meatisadelicacy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/214080/match-making-is-horrendous

That's not as bad as my games. I get my rank 17-18 killer against red and purple swfs regularly. I played 3-4 killer games today and had purple ranks in every game. It's too bad because I had 7 friends who tried this game and they all quit because we'd get a red/purple killer to match my rank and then it was them at like 17-18. We couldn't even get two gens done most games.

Queing up SWF is actually bad if not all of you are good at the game and are of differing ranks. The rank discrepancy between survivors almost ensures you a terrible match.

If you're not good and your friends are at high rank you're going to be in for a world of hurt. Killer will likely be above your skill level. If you're the high ranker and your friends are newbs you are still going to be in for a tough time because the killer will be mid level at worst, you may be able to loop him but if your teammates are potatos you are still going to lose most of the time.

  • Scratched Mirror is awesome dude. Jump Scares are the best part of this game, I much rather fight Stealth Myers than do another round of chase tag.

As for countering him.... generally Stealth Myers is only a problem on Lery's. Most other maps you can see him coming a mile away. Just keep your eyes peeled. If you are actually in a chase Scratched Mirror is a liability because he's stuck in T1, so he doesn't move as fast. This means it's a lot easier to loop him.

Just work on your looping game. Stealth Myers is one of the easiest killers to loop.

How does a mori counter Unbreakable? If the killer wants to to mori you, you die. Same goes for regular hooks.

A mori does counter decisive but these conditions are way too specific. It only works if the killer tunnels a survivors off the second hook and gets them down within a minute. I am sure the community does not want an offering that is made for tunneling.

Moris that are suppsed to counter ONE single perk under special conditon are laughable.

Be thankful you even have an offering that can counter a meta perk.

Survivors don't have a single offering that counters anything.

  • @LeleLP said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1822661#Comment_1822661

Because that’s all they needed. Keys and Moris have to completely different requirements. Keys you have to work for. Moris you hook someone once you find them again and you can remove them from the game. Keys you have either be the last survivor or have to get all gens done. Keys need a lot more work which devs and mods have stated several times and people just outright refuse to wrap their heads around it. It wasn’t a lazy change it was the only change they needed plain and simple.

Not to mention getting yourself into a position to use keys is usually suboptimal play. You are basically screwing your teammates and not doing gens. You might escape but you were doing the killer a favor and the killer has a much better chance of killing your teammates. So killer gets a 3K instead of 4K.

I don't get why people like to pretend Moris and Keys are the same. They are similar but the power of one is substantially greater than the other.

    @SquirrelKnight said:

Killers are pissed because the devs, like always decided that keys were fine and killers can deal with keys while moris HAD to be nerfed IMMEDIATELY. It helps when we dont want to say there is bias but bhvr just keeps undermining the people who defend them.

Dont tell me that keys are harder to code, if they needed that much more effort then wait to nerf moris and do both at the same.time. that is not acceptable

There is no bias. You are just cherry picking nerfs you don't like.

The Survivor side has received far more nerfs and much more severe ones than killers since the game launched. Moris are "useless?" How about Toolboxes. Toolboxes are utter junk now. At least Pink Moris still work great against a meta perk (DS). Toolboxes are so bad their best use is Sabo of all things. And that's just toolboxes. There are tons of other huge game-changing nerfs that were done to survivors since the game launched 4 years ago.

If you want to talk bias there is a fair argument that the devs are biased towards killers. But I wont even make that argument. The devs are doing what needs to be done to make the game better. They're not always perfect but pretending the devs are biased is just your own bias speaking.

How often do you think survivors can run that add on, given that it’s a purple and survivor bloodwebs have dozens of items and dozens of add ons?

The map isn't the best way to deal with it anyway. Map only has one totem on it at start so you still need to hunt for the other 4 totems.

  • Well starting out on one side in this game is always hard because there's no guarantee you'll have newbies on the other side either.

  • Killer is a solo role, so its much more difficult to pick up the skills required to succeed because you have have no peers to watch while playing the game

While Killer is not easy to play, it's the other way around. Playing Killer is easier to learn because you're doing 4 times the work of the survivor. You get 4x as much practice compared to the survivors who are sitting on a gen pressing M1.

  • Friendly Killers are fine as long as I don't get them every time. I mean, I want to play the game you know. Once in a blue moon is a nice treat, or if someone DC's.
