Most likely because Pig is a licensed character and it would be kinda bad to have challenges locked behind a paywall.

I'm closing this here, we had this discussion already multiple times, and we explained the reason why the masks have been removed, this is not going to change.

Thank you, as usual!

I'm sorry, but I don't have the answer to this.

The devs said that the shards are going to take some time because they have to give them to us "manually", whatever that means.
To clarify here, the list of the players who need to receive the shard is something that has to be done manually, not the act of giving each and everyone of them the shard.
Quoting Mandy:
@Mandy said:
It's something that has to be done manually, so the lists need to be prepared (once the removal happened), that's why it's not an instantaneous shard replacement...because you must have played as LF not just have owned him.
This couldn't be possible to do before the removal of the masks and it needs some time, but the shards are coming.

Yeah this has happened during the last few updates which is ridiculous, small update for a boring event, feels like I have to redownload the whole game every time
This is why you are re-downloading the entire game, it's meant to make the future updates faster to download and install.

There is currently no cross progression between PC and Xbox.

To give an explanation once again for all the threads that have been merged here:
The shards are coming, it's a process that needs to be done manually and couldn't be done prior to the removal of the masks.

Hey @MandyTalk, after the latest patch the Death Garden cosmetics were removed. I thought this was given and not a bug?
It's a bug, they should be there and it will be fixed soon:

Steam is the most important platform cause it brings the most players. So it's obviously very important tho to point it out.

After 1h30mins the number even decreased more. So you are really telling me, that it is pretty understandable? Uhm, ok! At least I cannot understand this fact then, that after 1h from last check up the numbers decreased even more.

This does not explain why the active number of players decreased after more time has been passed. Accordingly to that logic it should be more players online rn instead of less players being online, right?
You are assuming everyone started downloading the game at the same time, give it some time and the numbers will go back to normal.

Isn't this literally why the killswitch exists?
Or is it okay for survivors to literally exploit our gameplay?
I assume that if they find necessary to deactivate the perk, they will do it.

it's been a half hour past update. Most players should've downloaded the update already or what do you think? It's just very concerning to me. I don't wanna talk bad about the game cause I like it, but this numbers are super concerning to me.
Not everyone has a very fast internet connection, keep that in mind, it might take 30 minutes for you, but for others it could take multiple hours, it's still a 36.5 GB patch.

So basically, even though it's already been illustrated that there is one map that has an area in which Boil Over flat out makes you unhookable no matter what, and several more where any combination of Breakout, weird hook spawns, petrified oak, sabotage, great wiggle skill checks, and even a single swing's worth of bodyblocking will make you unhookable too.
BHVR still wants to monitor the situation.
This isn't like Lucky Break where people were freaking out because a perk looked like it would be good. Boil Over isn't a good perk. It's unbelievably situational and that has never been appealing. I'm never going to run it legit because without a map offering it's almost always going to be a dead perk. But what it does do is let a troll squad bring a map offering and some oak and waste 40 minutes of their next killer's life abusing map design.
This was obvious in the PTB, it's obvious now, and I hope to god that the surge of people trying out that strategy in the next few days will be enough to convince the team that yes, this was a bad idea, because the surge of people doing it on the PTB evidently wasn't enough.
Because even when the initial hype fades and a Boil Over RPD squad becomes something you encounter once in a blue moon, it's still terrible for the game.
That's an issue with a map, not with the perk.
I understand that people are afraid the perk will be abused, however if that's the case it's going to be easier to see this kind of results on a bigger scale than the PTB.
Again, I'm not saying you are wrong or that it cannot be an issue whatsoever, I'm just trying to see the thought process behind it.
-
Boil Over, like any other perk that received changes, will still be monitored, in case it needs tweaking.

For issues like that you can just explain in the report description that you couldn't copy the name, with the match flagged and the details and evidence you give, they can figure out who it was.

What exactly constitutes an 'insult' though?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/W864D48HXDES/toxic-mandy-jpg.jpg
Does it have to rise to the level of hatespeech?
'Cuss word cuss word babykiller ez noob l2p' strikes me as very insulting, but is not bannable.
It depends on the gravity of the insult, of course.
Saying "babykiller" to someone is not a huge insult and in any case it's the Support team that takes action if needed.

What about insults, for example, in another language? In this case, does it make sense to use only the reporting system? Or the situation is like cheaters, that is, you also need to provide a video with a chat?
For offenses like verbal abuse you are only required to report in game, the ticket is not mandatory, but helpful, regardless of the language used.

Because it's been a problem for literal years, and I've seen this suggestion for years as well, how long is this "more permanent" solution going to take? Is it even going to come out in 2022? I know you don't know but it's pretty reasonable to be rather upset with the answer the devs gave.
You can be upset at them, I'm not saying you have to like their answer, I'm just saying I will personally wait for more information about it before having an opinion on the new system.
I wish we could just snap our fingers and have all fixed, it's just not feasible and big changes require time, I prefer to be more open to a new system than seeing 10k more BP in a match and be at this point of frustration once again in a couple of years.
-
@gilgamer said:

It would still take several years to catch back up just to the current system, why they can't work on and implement this change, which I really think they are hyping up to seem like such a herculean task that I honestly doubt, while working on their other idea they seem so much prouder of. They constantly say they have the resources for game balance, new content and bug fixing yet from everything I've seen we only ever get one or 2 of those at a time.
Idk if the problem is the dev team the management or the work flow but something massive needs to change at BHVR cause at this rate they are adding as many problems as they solve.
I am no programmer nor designer, so I have no idea how much time and work it would require to implement what you are asking for, so I can't really comment on this, I can just report what they said about it.
I'd be fine with removing the perk tiers, don't get me wrong, however if this requires a similar amount of time and work compared to a complete and more permanent rework of the system, I don't see why we can't take the latter.

I do not see how reducing the grind is bad when our goal is to reduce the grind. Like, why are you opposed to it, is there a reason? Sure it is a "bandaid," but as long as it addresses the concern, the problem sort of ceases to exist. I am all down for an overhaul, but why we couldn't at least get more frequent blood point events is beyond me.
I personally do not mind the grind too much. My only personal issue is with the BP cap. It is obscenely low relative to our gains and how much your average bloodweb costs. But if the issue is that new players can't get their perks, I feel giving them more bloodpoints make sense. If anything, they are already doing that with more codes, the advent calendar... This event. It is just instead of a permanent fix, we get the BP in bursts.
I'm not saying I'm opposed to increase the bloodpoints gain, I just think this is not a permanent solution to a system that overwhelms the players.
If you think about it, the BP gain has been more than doubled since the launch of the game, before the bloodweb rework you used to get very little points from matches, this has been improved on a lot, giving more points from actions, adding perks that increase the points you receive, adding challenges with the Archives.
Yet the grind is still huge, because every single chapter adds millions of BP needed to unlock everything on everyone, as Peanits explained in that post.
Regarding the cap, I don't see the point of having a cap anymore at this stage of the game and they said they are looking into it, so we'll see if we get more information about it.

@ThiccBudhha said:

I mean, bumping the default bloodpoint gain to what it is during this event would not be too much work. It makes me somewhat skeptical that the workload is the problem...
That's a different "solution" from what has been mentioned here.
And I am not a fan of boosting bloodpoints, that's not a solution to me, it's even more of a band-aid than removing perk tiers.
-
I think Peanits explained well the reasoning behind a more permanent rework here:
I think focusing on a better system from the ground up is better than a temporary fix, especially if this band-aid would still require a good amount of work to get implemented.
Hopefully they will be able to share more information about it soon enough, I'm very curious to see what they have planned, as the grind is a big issue at the moment.

I'm a little curious. I tried to report and upload a video of the cheating the other day, but the filesize was too big and it simply wouldn't allow it. If we report in game and have the match we upload to youtube, would posting that in the comments section of the report be able to be used since it would not allow me to upload the video itself properly?
You can post the video in the description of the report, the website has an upload limit, so it's usually better to upload the video on Youtube as unlisted and link it there.
@Laluzi said:

Does the team understand just how bad of a system that is? It's essentially placing the onus on players to have third-party programs running at the time of abuse in order to be able to be able to report misbehavior outside of endgame chat. I don't have recording software set up on my computer, as I'm not a content creator and have no use for it. As a result, I cannot make any meaningful reports about cheating or hostage-taking, no matter how diligent I am in-game or how well I understand the rules.
Better yet, it's not clear from the surface that your reports will be discarded without this third party evidence, so most players just end up making placebo reports and think they're helping to pin down problem players when in actuality they're shouting into the void. I've never even heard of any other game whose report system was this defunct.
Like, do you guys seriously discard all feedback that doesn't come with a video attached? If a person buys the game today and racks up 50 reports of cheating before the night is over, they won't even be looked at unless one of those reports has supplemental footage?
If you have an Nvidia graphics card, you can use the replay system to just record the part of the game you need.
I'm not saying the system is perfect, I'd love to have a replay system in game, as I already expressed multiple times, it would make the job for the Support team way easier, however as long as we don't have that kind of features, this is the procedure to follow.
-
Reporting in game is mandatory for any kind of offense, as it flags the match, however for hacking you need also video evidence and you need to open a ticket on the Support website: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
-
I'd love to see a Bioshock chapter, with Jack as survivor and a Big Daddy as killer, a Rapture map would be amazing too!
I would also love a Bloodborne chapter, but I am not sure who I'd want as survivor, maybe either Eileen or Alfred.

Nope.
From what the devs have said, anything that isn't hatespeech or a credible threat is not only acceptable, but an integral part of online gaming.
So stuff like 'I hope all your relatives die of something nasty' is completely fine and not even worth reporting.
Death wishes are reportable, let's not misinterpret what Mandy said, there's a huge difference between smack talk and actual death wishes/death threats.
@TheOptimiser for verbal abuse, only the in-game reports are mandatory, screenshots help with the process, but are not necessary for this kind of offenses, it's explained here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules
