Huh. I always wondered what this meant too.

I don't even think that Nea is ugly, her default appearance just looks like a homeless meth addict.

    Homeless Meth Addicts = Ugly.

  • @Apollos said:

It's just silly game mechanics. It's technically considered an item since you have to drop your item to pick it up.

Kind of like how No Mither still spawns blood orbs with Oni on a weird technicality.

It’s not silly, actually - it’s intended. It’s an item so it needs to be dropped by a basic attack with Franklin’s. Same with Oni - standard blood orbs are caused by (coding-wise) being INJURED, it has nothing to do with the actual blood.

  • Signed up 👌 well… submitted a form at least

  • Filming the next “Help me Step-Killer, I’m Stuck” movie, I see.

Pretty sure it's brought up in every SBMM thread eventually.

    Yup.

I don’t mind repeated topics, but when there’s 6 threads of the same topic it gets tedious.

  • I don’t like the sheer amount of breakable walls on either map.

Dead Dawg has stupid, braindead loops for survivors until the killer decides to break said walls. However once those walls are gone the map is just awful and boring.

Midwich is both tons of breakable walls and safe pallets. Poorly designed for DBD gameplay as pretty much all of the loops are designed around pallets, not vaults.

    Disclaimer: this is my opinion.

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2499240#Comment_2499240

Different comments and my intention for the thread is to explicitly talk about how sbmm should be significantly more transparent

Transparency is being discussed in at least one other thread that I’ve already read.

  • Anything involving aiming. Console just feels so slow compared to how the aiming is on PC.

This makes killers like Huntress, Trickster and Deathslinger have a noticeable handicap when compared to how they run on PC.

  • Can someone explain how this SBMMR is different from the 6 others crowding Page 1 of General Discussions?

  • @Revolver_Ocelot said:

How about if you've been in the dying state for X consecutive minutes, you can recover to the injured state with Hindered, Mangled, Hemorrhaging, Deep Wound, and cannot hide in lockers, fast vault, or run until healed.

So a free second chance perk? Lol.

  • @GoshJosh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2499078#Comment_2499078

So one random survivor gets punished just for being the obsession? Nah.

You know they can hide right? All Killer Instinct does is show the killer where your general direction is for that 1 second… you could go hide, you could go left, you could go right… it’s not even close to being considered a punishment.

  • I would make survivor’s skill rating based primarily on how long they can sustain a chase, with winning a chase (not getting downed) being an added multiplier. For example, a survivor that ran a killer for 2 minutes and escaped chase:

NOTE: Points/seconds/numbers are automatically rounded up to avoid decimal ratings

    CHASE 1 (escapes chase)

    # seconds in chase = 120

120 multiplied by 2 for escaping = 240 (final total)

    CHASE 2 (got downed)

    # seconds chased = 30 seconds

No double multiplier due to losing chase, so final total is 30.

So for chases this leaves you 270 points for chase. If a survivor goes down super quick it will factor in later, just bear with me.

Now I want to factor in safe unhooks + if you escaped trial or not.

Each safe unhook is + 10. Each unsafe unhook is -20. So let’s say you have that same survivor from the Chase example get one unsafe unhook all game, he gets docked -20 and now has a total score of 250.

For dying in trial, you get docked -40. If you survive it’s +40. Let’s say the example survivor escapes the trial, he now has 290 total points.

For the final calculation we divide the final total by 2 = comes out to 145 points towards SBMMR for the trial.

Now that is merely a quickly put-together outline of how I would judge. I am by NO means a professional game-balance developer, but I do stand by my opinion that a survivor’s ability in chase (with some safe unhook skill added) is more important than ability to hold M1 on a gen.

Dude! You joke but that perk legit is the one saving grace for this game as of late. It's SUCH a well designed perk that I'm honestly amazed someone at BHVR came up with it. It's not overbearing, its not underpowered, its not overpowered, it addresses one of the main problems of killers being weak is finding that first chase.

Lethal Pursuer is honestly the best perk for the game state that they've come out with since Pop

Basekit for killers should be a Killer Instinct on the Obsession (2 seconds?) at the start of the match.

  • Wraith is definitely a balanced killer with a couple add-ons that could use some minor tweaking (All Seeing Blood).

However, anyone that says he’s as good as my girl Spirit is smoking something good (especially now that they fixed the damn sound bug, big props to BHVR).

  • @Bluebird said:

I don't know about Survivor Side (maybe reserved for a Boon Totem Perk) but I could see a 5th slot being reserved for a Hex Perk for Killers, that way they can make a proper build, then pick a Hex Perk to run. Then, if it gets broken, the Killer didn't really lose much.

A 6th totem would have to be added to the map due to max hex totem count if someone runs Haunted.

Well tbh killers would still ruin as many slowdown perks as possible, so you’d probably still get:

Ruin, Undying, Corrupt, BBQ and now throw in Pop for good measure. Or swap out Ruin/Undying for Pop, plus Sloppy/Thanat or some gimmicky perks like Shadowborn.

  • @Impose said:

If he did that to three people back to back the survivors ROYALLY screwed up. Survivors have time to literally do 4 generators in the time it takes ONE survivor to go from first hook to death assuming no missed skill checks. It takes 80 seconds to do a gen baseline. takes 2 minutes to go from first hook to death. If a killer facecamped one survivor, he should have lost 4 gens. If he facecamped a 2nd, two other survivors should have already escaped

Where are you getting your math?

3 survivors = 3 gens in 80 seconds max (assuming no missed skill checks).

How are they gonna do 4 gens in 2 minutes with only 3 survivors? It’s not like the gens are lined up nicely for the survivors to hop onto the next one right after they finish one.

  • Hey guys, hope someone can answer this for me without me opening a completely new thread:

I played Pinhead for the first time today with both his Iri add-ons and loaded up on Ormond. Immediately it felt like I was walking at 110% movement speed. Was he nerfed to that speed? Is it the add-ons? Could it have been a bug or just my imagination because that map is huge?

  • Try to 3 gen on Shelter Woods. There’s tons of open area (especially around the middle tree) on that map with few LOS breakers. So once you force survivors to eat up the resources around your 3 gen it’ll be easy to snowball.

  • @Purgatorian said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2492848#Comment_2492848

The grind itself is too boring. It's far too long and tedious without having to use perks to increase bp gain.

I agree. I’m just explaining BHVR logic.

  • @Purgatorian said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2492819#Comment_2492819

Back then there were not so many perks. I think they should look at their decision again or at least one double bp weekend event per month.

But then that would make the grind easier and people would get “bored” of DBD because they unlocked everything.

    :eyeroll:

I don’t run meta perks a lot, I play solo and my escape rate is not especially high, and yet last MMR test I went against Blight/Spirit/Nurse/Huntress almost every match towards the end. What should I do to avoid that do you think? Run no perks? Kill myself on hook every other game? DC one match a day?

You’ll never get an answer because BHVR refuses to share their SBMMR criteria.

Eh, I kind of enjoy hamming it up as Wraith. I usually do not BM too much as other killers. Plague is the one I go ballistic with. I just love vomiting on survivors. But I embrace Wraith as a nice outlit to vent my frustrstions out on survivors. Plague, I usually throw just to vomit on people... So the energy is kind of different.

I’m just saying that someone who BMs as Wraith is usually someone who will BM as another character, so it’s not a Wraith problem.

  • @AetherBytes said:

An idea i had was what if we gave nemisis' zombies a sort of radar. They always know the general area of survivors, and will tend to wander nearby (not directly at them, just enough that survivors have to be wary). This would make them a little more threatening instead of wandering around where no one will go.

What’s the point of radar if they’re just going to wander in the “general area”? Seems like a pointless buff.

They could make it so that it buys 2 perks for you and the other 2 are automatically blocked.

I’d rather pick them myself. Why would Iet rng decide to pick Predator over BBQ?

  • Auto complete isn’t the way to go. I get where you guys are coming from, but there’s much better ways to alleviate the frustration you’re feeling.

Keys are literally so easy and broken. 3 gens to win the game. There's no counter, you slap on the hatch offering and leave it at the killer shack and that's that. Franklins does nothing. The fact SBMM is going into effect with that item intact is almost as big of a joke as the item itself.

Oh, and quick switching to keys is still in? Are people supposed to take this game seriously?

I didn’t say keys are balanced, but I see medkits way more often and they’re huge in stopping killer pressure.

  • @SonicOffline said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2473971#Comment_2473971

You absolutely can still look for the red stain and listen for the terror radius. It's not Wraith's fault you chose to sit in a corner and got body blocked.

I play Wraith too. Someone is on a gen, I uncloak silently around a corner and my huge lunge gets me a hit 99% of the time. Spine Chill is usually what makes up for that 1%.

  • @SonicOffline said:

How about you watch your surroundings more? Wraith doesn't need a nerf because of your inability to swing your mouse.

You can’t on indoor maps or when there’s LOS blockers.

  • Like I said, just report it through the appropriate channels and you’re good. No harm in that.

  • @TacitusKilgore said:

Title. Im sure we've all noticed the pretty stark increase in the amount of exceptionally toxic wraiths, hard tunelling, bm'ing repeatedly, face camping, etc etc. Just all around being huge jerks. But why is this? Wraiths used to be one of the chillest killers in this game, before his recent rework. I could always trust a wraith to make sure everybody had fun while still trying their best to win, it was great. But recent wraiths just don't do that, they try REALLY hard to make sure nobody but them has fun and seemingly profit off the misery of others. What happened to wraith players? What made them suddenly so hostile and mean to other players?

“Chillest killers”? That’s typically survivor lingo for saying “this killer is easy to loop/bully, therefore they’re fun to face”. He needed buffs because he was in a much weaker state than a lot of the cast, fact. Maybe BHVR should have nerfed some add-ons but he definitely needed more power.

Maybe you’re encountering some players who are just savoring their power trip, but those players will probably be like that with any killer - not just Wraith.

Lol, head nodding is NOT proof of hacking. I hope you or the person you quoted are never on a jury.

  • Not possible, you would be able to get 4 perk (tiers) in each bloodweb and that’s clearly something BHVR is against unfortunately.

A few things, first off while silent bell wraith is strong it’s nowhere near as strong as killers like spirit, hag and huntress. So it’s really hard for me to see how this would be fair. Especially with spine chill hard countering stealth playstyles. Second, I honestly agree all seeing blood needs tweaking but I don’t think that’s the best way to go about it. And lastly his windstorm addons already got nerfed pretty damn hard.

How is it not as strong? Not everyone runs Spine Chill - it’s pretty common but not nearly as much as Iron Will, BT, Dead Hard and DS or Unbreakable. On indoor maps this add-on absolutely wrecks the majority of the playerbase (which are casuals). Remember, you basically get a FREE HIT so the movement speed doesn’t even matter.

What tweaking would you suggest for the other 2?

  • @mthrpicklths said:

Honestly you guys all got down in a 10 meter radius from that hook so she prolly just knew bro😂

For real. Everyone is just chilling around the hook instead of pressuring gens.

  • Cheaters taking matters into their own hands until BHVR fixes the sound bug.

**JK. It does seem suspicious, although there is no real way to prove it. It’s possible she spotted you nearby at the end and tracked your breathing since you were still healthy. Best bet is just to submit a report and leave it at that.

  • People love dogging on keys, but Medkits are pretty strong and more often decide the outcome of a match. Imagine you’re playing Wraith hit and run… you smack a survivor then leave. They heal so whenever you find them again you still need 2 hits to down them. This also bypasses the need to find a survivor to heal you or waste a perk slot on Self Care - so you also contribute to gen pressure in a way.

    Difficulty line? with SBMM:

Hopefully it works like that, but who knows lol.

When is SBMM going to be active?

  • Corrupt, Ruin, Undying, Pop and Tinkerer…

    Just kidding.

I’d probably have Corrupt Intervention or Lethal Pursuer for all my builds, they’re both good (in different ways) at generating early pressure.

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

No, get good at the game. You can see him from 20 meters off easily, silent bell means nothing if you are paying attention. This is why there is only Nurse, Blight, and Spirit at high end play, because ya'll whine, #########, and cry when a NOT EVEN AN A TIER KILLER starts to perform well.

Alternatively, stay bad at the game and just use spine chill which has no counter in the game other than looking away.

There’s “almost” no way to counter Silent Bell on indoor maps (which do exist, in case you forgot). Sure, you can run Spine Chill but even then it’ll be difficult to tell where he’s approaching from. You can hear his snarls, but if he starts uncloaking from around a corner it will also be difficult to hear, especially if you’ve got some progress on the gen.

I don’t think Wraith’s add-ons need a major overhaul, just something subtle such as:

Coxcombed Clapper - Makes bell Silent, BUT reduces base movement speed to 110% (4.4) which also reduces cloaked movement speed by 5%. Why is this a fair nerf? If you’re using Silent Bell then you’re using it to get sneak attacks, not go on long chases. So you’ll get punished for using this add-on the wrong way, but sneak attack playstyle will remain nearly unchanged. Maybe even make Wraith’s snarls/footsteps slightly louder.

All Seeing Blood - Swap this with Wraith current Iri All Seeing, and make it so his speed coming out of cloak is much shorter (so he can’t just anti-mindgame loops with free aura reading).

Windstorm Blood - Reduce the overall effect so he’s not so blazingly fast in cloak (he already got his base cloak speed buff so this add-on doesn’t need to compensate for anything).

Player feedback has been doing that for years. It's not MMR/SBMM that now suddenly makes any Balance issues appear, they've been there and we've been vocal about them. Relying solely on Data is why the issues aren't solved. For such a niche game, you guys are lucky to have so manny dedicated and skilled players who constantly give you all the info and feedback you could hope for. There's a reason most people Believe Feedback doesn't matters and that's because the course of actions is always DATA, DATA, DATA feedback here or there. Want a gigantic example of BHVR and Players disconnect? The HUD Changes, nobody asked for it, they went ahead and the backlash was there so the HUD had to be changed again. It appears you only listen to feedback when the uproar is too big to ignore...

Also where's Q&A and testing? How come players are always the ones reporting the issues? How could RE Chapter have such a poor launch? Was none of it tested on Consoles? Cause that's exactly what it looks like. There's no way you guys tested it on Console and had no issues like everyone did at launch.

I understand if you can't or don't wanna answer but alot of what you guys say it's honestly very hard to trust or believe in because the past experiences are pretty bad. Even the Focus on the bigger events was proven to be a total joke, the annyversary event was a copy and paste job. It's pretty damn hard to take anything you guys say seriously.

In the words of Scott Jund during his Developer Update video (not verbatim): “I just don’t believe them.”

  • Why do people care about the attractiveness of video game characters, especially in a game like DBD?

IDC if the next killer is female or whatever, as long as they don’t have a lackluster power (unique/interesting aesthetic is merely a bonus; lore I don’t give 2 spits about).

  • @vacaman said:

It's funny that you mention Smite and Siege, 2 games with ranked and casual modes with completly different matchamking systems to make your point. I'm actually in favour of introducing a ranked mode and a casual mode, but every time I've mentioned this everybody puts their hands on their head: "This won't work! THE QUEUE TIMES!!!" 70k concurrent players, yeah queue times won't be an issue. "But sweaty players will abuse casual mode!! It's useless!". Then why all those games have at least 2 separate queues one with luck of the draw and other SBMM and it seems to work?

You can still have sweaty games in casual modes, though.

  • @Gylfie said:

I hadn't seen Spirit in forever until somewhere last week. The match starts, I make my way over to a gen, when I suddenly hear the sound of a phasing Spirit, followed by the sound of a disconnecting survivor.

    Great.

Clearly that survivor doesn’t know it’s super easy to juke Spirit now.

  • I got called a hacker by a survivor I downed using this add-on. He said “you hit me twice before I vaulted” lol.

  • @Sluzzy said:

Took way too long for them to look at Stridor. That's too many years.

Personally Stridor’s nerf wouldn’t even bother me if Spirit wasn’t bugged.

However, Stridor’s ONLY purpose was to counter Iron Will - and even then it was hardly used. Now Stridor has been relegated to the ever-growing list of useless perks.

Mush, I was a Spirit main for 2 years, I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to say that's she's stupidly imbalanced. This entire game is balanced around reacting and adapting to what your opposition does, a killer that gives 0 feedback on what she's doing is stupid.

She can’t see you, and if you’re injured and running iron will she can’t hear you either… how is there zero counterplay?

  • @indieeden7 said:

Omg now Spirit will have to guess just like survivors have had to for 3 years! Spirit is finally balanced!!

Found the survivor who dies to Spirit every game.

That’s the whole point of her power. You’re not supposed to see a ghost.

  • @Damarus said:

They nerfed a perk that only she used, in order to not nerf HER directly. Let's stop acting like she stopped being OP and won't be again, because they will fix her. Not even playing DbD at the moment, but hey. Anything that stops killer mains from having it too easy? That's a welcome thing.

Does Nurse “have it easy” because she can blink through walls? Spirit takes skill to perform at a high level. It’s a different kind of skill, especially when it comes to predictions at windows and pallets. But undoubtedly some of the folks here are gonna babble stuff like “Hur dur, she is super easy to play”.

I’d like to see some of the people on this forum pick up Spirit and try getting at least a 1K on a team like ORACLE. She wasn’t a “free 4k killer”.

No and you don't need to.

What's good with the new matchmaking is that no one will know at which rank he/she plays on, avoiding low skill mechanics. :D

Also not knowing if you won or not is a good thing i guess. Ppl won't be able to use the calculation system at their advantage.

As the "Grade" won't be linked to your SBMM level, there won't be any "skill indication" that other players can see and there won't be any reason to play badly. Being top Grade won't mean anything, it will just reward you with bloodpoints and well, it will just be grinding.

I'm sure devs have implemented a penalty when a killer is camping & tunneling. Killers won't know it but won't go up in SBMM playing like this :).

Same for survivors doing nothing or unhooking unsafely.

I really hope that noobs that have polluted the red rank matchmaking will stay at the bottom of the SBMM system. CBA playing against/with those players anymore. I will maybe enjoy DbD again :).

So camping and tunneling killers will be grouped up with the low-mid rank survivors (where it’s most effective). That’ll go well!

How much is it? 2 month?

How many patches since this bug? 2?

Still not fixed? "Its not a nerf", it will be fixed as soon as possible.. Yes, of course.

Yeah, sometimes I wonder why they mess up certain killers when all they’re supposed to touch is a perk or add-on.
