Sound to make tracking her vague. 👌

At the same time adding visual tracking which will pinpoint her movements. 😱

Where is the adjustment to her skill ceiling? This is just making things more difficult on the killer and removes any mindgame advantage from her power.

THIS. Who at BHVR makes changes and conjures up these developer updates? They clearly don’t read what they’ve written…

Spirit’s skill ceiling has been increased?? What can we do to hit that ceiling? All I see is more hand-holding for survivors to counter one of the few viable killers.

Wow so he can traverse larger maps now and stop those gens against high sbmm? 🤣 and it hurts me to say that as a trapper main but he is still 3 gen material at best

Trapper was never meant to traverse the whole map and chase survivors. He is a territorial killer, like hag.

No Mither caps out at 50% (0/25/50) while injured, but you're injured the entire match. Iron Will caps out at 100% (50/75/100).

    So No Mither is basically:

5 seconds making grunts of pain, 5 seconds not making any?

    or…

Grunts of pain volume is reduced to 50%?

Meh,Renjiro pretty much turned you into a M1 killer with some wallhacks here and there.

I'd rather play scratched mirror myers instead

Nah, man. I’ve never lost a Renjiro game - the wallhack value is insane with Splintered hull and Sloppy.

Not only do you move at 4.6 (unlike Scratch Mirror Myers), you also have the on-demand ability of instadowns JUST IN CASE the match is getting out of hand.

Map awareness is amazing. I even recently had a match on Haddonfield where I 4K’d with it, despite Ruin going early. I did have to use Demon Dash but only for the last minute of the game.

It'd honestly just be easier to swap the percentage values between Iron Will and No Mither. Make it so Iron Will is never completely silent, but No Mither is at the cost of being broken the entire round.

That could be ok, I guess. Depends on what “not all the time” means as I don’t know the current No Mither values for how frequently you’re silent.

  • @Satelit said:

Well maybe they'll make his Iri add-ons do something useful.

I dunno where you got the majority of survivors using Iron Will from considering that not even 10% of survivors pick Iron Will in red ranks alone lol.

Spirit can hear survivors and see scratch marks, grass movement, etc. Anyone with ears and eyes can play her well.

I can take a screenshot of every postgame for 100 games. Guarantee there will be AT LEAST one Iron Will user in over half of those games.

  • When standing or crouching completely still as survivor, your grunts of pain noise is reduced by 80/90/100%.

This makes it so if you’re HIDING from a killer and not running around then you won’t make noise. But if you start running then you resume making pain noises.

  • @DwarvenTavern said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2514549#Comment_2514549

I don't know. I think the idea of having to aim and predict a person is more of a skill than moving at 176% with full control while staring at the ground as you chase someone.

If they have Iron Will it’s also a guess.

  • Iron Will needs to be changed as follows to compensate:

When standing or crouching completely still as survivor, your grunts of pain noise is reduced by 80/90/100%.

This makes it so if you’re HIDING from a killer and not running around then you won’t make noise. But if you start running then you resume making pain noises.

Seems like a fair “balancing” of an overpowered perk.

Spirit's always been pretty BS. Honestly she was the only killer I think needed a direct nerf in terms of reworking. Nurse is skating on the edge of that but I don't mind when Nurse outplays me because it actually requires effort.

Most other killers could probably use buffs now that Spirit finally "GOT WHAT SHE ***ING DESERVED!"

How does Nurse require “effort” whereas Spirit doesn’t? Nurse has to hold down a M2 until it lines up with her target range, release M2 then hit M1. Takes practice and muscle memory, but it’s not rocket science. Nurse can see survivors at all times while doing this, can teleport through walls and can use aura perks to help in chase/tracking like I’m all ears/nurse’s calling.

Spirit has to hold M2 until she tracks her target (the MAJORITY of survivors run Iron Will, hard counter), release M2 and then hit M1- kind of similar huh? Can’t see auras while in phase (so no I’m All Ears, or sneak up using Nurse’s Calling).

Nurse is basically the most BS killer in the game but “no one” complains about her because she “takes skill”.

The main gripe about Spirit is that you can’t see her while she’s phasing (which is the point, duh) and now the devs are taking that away from her with the dust-kicking feature.

Phasing sound being audible to everyone is honestly not the worst change, but the additional nerfs were not needed.

  • @Rogue11 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2514380#Comment_2514380

This also kills her most fun playstyle imo, which was switching targets within terror radius and going for grabs.

I was actually impressed that they fixed the sound bug, but now they go overkill on something like this…

Trust has been shattered (I know that sounds dramatic, believe me when I say it only in the context of the game itself - I’m not going into a depression because of this).

It’s painfully obvious that the devs listen to the survivor audience more than the killer side. And why not? That’s 4x as many players paying for furry booty short cosmetics that need to stay happy.

Or maybe they didn’t make the changes with the intention of pleasing survivors, but rather due to a lack of understanding of their own game - which is just as bad.

  • @Mat_Sella said:

Oh no, whatever shall a killer with a 176% move-speed special attack do now that they actually have counterplay?

The devs are overcompensating when only a few changes were needed.

Instead of just adding one indication of when she’s phasing, they did THREE TOTAL:

    1) Audio - stand still is gone, which was a needed change anyway

    2) Directional Audio (yes, this counts as its own buff)

    3) Visual - dust kicking up

  • Ok, so all survivors can now hear her phasing both IN and OUT of terror radius… cool. A short visual animation indicating that she’s phasing was all that was needed to prevent the “stand still mindgame”.

With that in mind, why do her footsteps need to kick up dust? If her phase gives off a directional sound then why do survivors need more cues??

Survivor tears really paid off here.

  • This will go over well.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

I feel dbd needs to step away from nerfing things for a while and focus on buffing instead.

It gets really stale if the biggest changes being made are things becoming weaker

I agree with the essence of your post, but that is the wrong approach. You can’t simply buff everything and hope it works. Sometimes you need to throw in a nerf to an add-on when a power is buffed in order to avoid something becoming oppressive.

Like Demo’s recent change. They made Rat Liver not as strong but buffed his base kit so he’s not dependent on it.

A change they could do with a weak killer like Trapper is have him start with half his traps, but rework the bag add-ons so they don’t stack/don’t give as many. Just spitballing here as an example.

  • @Artemisha said:

Are u allowed to use hatchets on this challengue? I saw one guy doing this add-ons combo and he only used 1 hatchet at the entire game. And he hit 1 surv at exit door. It was funny and troll xD.

You just have to hit survivors while not carrying any hatchets.

  • Leveling up for the perks? Yes.

For playing? I’d say no. His power is very boring to use.

  • Top 3 to face?

    Love: Spirit, Nemesis, Huntress

Hate: Bubba (because 99% of those guys play the same, facecamping), Trapper (having to look at the ground is annoying), and Deathslinger (these guys are always using NOED and/or STBFL).

  • There’s no immediate way to tell. If it’s an indoor map and they ALWAYS run away before you get to them then it’s likely Spine Chill. If they vault quicker while healthy it’s guaranteed Spine Chill.

You just have to use your game sense. It’s really difficult to tell sometimes though. As someone said, survivors benefit from a very generous FOV while killers have Fat Stomach syndrome and can’t see their own, uh… you know.

If you don't find it funny, then don't laugh. I don't think it's funny anymore. Now that the voice line is gone it's an extreme bummer, it was such a good reference to when we get to hear him first speak.

I'm kinda tired of mute killers, Plague, Trickster, and Pinhead were super refreshing to hear them laugh and talk

The problem isn’t the voiceline, it’s the childish people referencing it every time they hear in Twitch and to some extent YouTube.

I agree that it’d be nice to have more voicelines in the game, though.

I never said it had to be funny, but the opposite of funny is unfunny, not offended. If something's unfunny, just don't laugh lol People care too much about it. It's especially bizarre given the bubbly sexploitation the horror genre is built upon.

You are mistaken, sir. I’m NOT offended regarding the nature of the joke by any means. I’m simply ANNOYED at the amount of jokes people make about it. It’s like being in middle school when everyone is discovering the new sexual stuff like “oh my god Becky, he said the word CAME! Hahaha”.

Ok, the Pinhead line was funny but the “jokes” have overstayed their welcome.

  • Not sure if bait or not. Will remain quiet for now.

  • @Apollos said:

I will never understand why people are so bothered by a joke. If it's so stupid, then why pay it any mind at all?

Because it’s childish and tiresome after seeing everyone use it 10,000 times.

What’s so funny about the line that makes you want to repeat it and emphasize the sexual innuendo every single time?

  • A Mr X reskin for Nemesis could actually work pretty well, since Nemesis’ power doesn’t involve much that made him unique (i.e. using weapons like the rocket launcher). Mr X didn’t use tentacles from what I remember, but he did have a mutated form that could tie into at least his hand/arm design for that aspect of the power. Even the audio can be kept the same for all I care, since a completely mute killer would be kind of strange for DBD.

    Oni - Demon Dash = 7.82m/sec

    Legion - Frenzy = 5.2m/sec

    Executioner - Ranged

    Deathslinger - Ranged

    Billy - Chainsaw= 9.2m/sec

    Huntress - Ranged

    Bubba - Chainsaw = 5.29m/sec

    Hag - teleports

Clown - Tonic reduces survivor run speed by 5%

Freddy - Teleports AND Dream snare reduces survivor run speed by 15%

    Demogorgon - Shred = 18.4m/sec

    Trickster - Ranged

    Plague - Ranged Corrupt Purge

    Twins - Victor run speed = 6m/sec

    Cenobite - Chains negate sprinting

But yes please tell me how killers have no way to negate holding W :)

Oni - Doesn’t always have Demon Dash available.

Legion - Frenzy is just used to injure. If you’re using Frenzy to “catch up” AFTER a first hit you’re probably a bad Legion.

Executioner - You still have to get in range by catching up.

Deathslinger - You still have to get in range by catching up. AND is a slow walker.

Huntress - You still have to get in range by catching up. AND is a slow walker.

Bubba - Why would you use Chainsaw to catch up? LOL.

Hag - depends on whether you have traps in the direction survivor is running. Also very slow killer.

Clown - Can negate a bit of the distance, but he still has to actually close the initial gap.

Freddy - Can only teleport to gens, not reliable for chasing.

Demogorgon - Shred isn’t good for covering distance on flat ground versus a straight Hold W gamer.

Trickster - You still have to get in range by catching up. AND is a slow walker.

Plague - Ranged in small intervals, still has to chase like an M1 killers.

Cenobite - Chains negate sprinting but the can be easily broken.

But yes please tell me how killers all perfectly equipped to negate holding W :)

  • Yeah, I hate the Blood Debt challenge whenever it shows up. Very lazy challenge design.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

Blight is really effective at catching W gamers.

What about the 19 killers that don’t have the ability for an on-demand map traversal speed boost like Blight?

Hag and Demo is included in that # because their power isn’t guaranteed to be available at all times (Hag needs traps already set, and Demo’s portals are limited and aren’t really meant for chase).

60 second cooldown and we’re good. Add it to the next chapter, devs.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2511943#Comment_2511943

In the past, each Killer used the default rating when you first played them. In theory, this is great. You try a new Killer, you get to practice against easy opponents as you get used to them.

In practice, however, it's a different story. When this was tested in the past, it ended up with incredibly one-sided matches as really good Killers would get paired with new or inexperienced Survivors just because their rating started at the default. This is because most of the skills you need to do well are shared amongst different Killers. Things like time management, how to run certain tiles, zoning, etc. are more or less the same whether you're playing Wraith or Legion.

There are some exceptions, of course. Nurse, like you mentioned, plays completely differently from other Killers. The mindgames you normally use don't transfer over, and there's a mechanical skill involved with nailing your blinks on top of that, though most Killers do not have the same problem.

The shortest way to put it: Starting at default ends up with a lot of unbalanced matches as you gradually climb to the rating you're meant to be at. Starting at the average typically ends up with you in the right place within only a handful of matches. Most skills are transferable between Killers, although there are a few exceptions.

I definitely understand that there are shared skills (transferable), however it’s not fun to test out a new killer’s POWER on experienced survivors.

Let’s forget about Nurse and use Huntress as an example. Yes, you can apply the same mindgame and M1 killer knowledge to her, but to use her power effectively you need tons of practice. It’s also not fun for a killer to have to miss 90% of their hatchets trying to learn Huntress because they’re getting paired up with a full SWF with all meta perks who understand perfect LOS pathing to evade her. Even “average” MMR survivors are all running DS, Dead Hard, Borrowed Time, etc. with medkits and flashlights (see example from OP). This creates an unpleasant and frustrating experience for players who want to try to enjoy killers they paid for.

  • @Peanits said:

This is normal. When you play a Killer for the first time, the game will base your rating on your other Killers rather than the default/lowest rating. From there, it'll adjust separately as you play. If you have a few bad matches, your rating with that Killer will lower and you'll start to get paired with Survivors that you're more comfortable with. If you're a natural with that Killer, it'll stay the same or even increase depending on how well you're doing.

Why is this normal, though? Even if you have 2000 hours on Wraith, you shouldn’t have similar MMR when picking up a killer like Nurse for the first time. That just isn’t right.

  • I always kick the groaning storehouse wall in the main building.

  • Dead Hard and Borrowed Time are two of the most commonly used survivor perks for good reason - they are VERY STRONG. No one can deny that they can be borderline busted.

Let’s stick to Dead Hard, the topic of the thread. There are NO KILLER PERKS that give immediate results to ending a chase. Dead Hard DOES give an immediate benefit to extending the chase. What could be a 30 second chase can turn into a much, much longer chase. You can greed a pallet and make a window that you normally wouldn’t. And you pretty much have this perk in your pocket for every chase you start (generously short cooldown of 40 seconds). You don’t need ANY requirements to use this perk besides being injured.

The only “equivalent” perks for a killer I’d consider are NOED and Devour. NOED only works until endgame, can be cleansed, or even outright prevented. Devour also takes time and hooks to get any benefit, and can also be cleansed.

Keep in mind you don’t just face one Dead Hard in a match, you’re usually facing AT LEAST 2, and frequently 3, sometimes 4… that’s a lot of potential for wasted time that the killer has to micromanage.

You can defend Dead Hard all you want, but it’s a very clutch perk that requires zero investment (besides getting injured) to get value from.

Should it be looked at? Possibly. Maybe at least make the cooldown much longer. You don’t need to be Dead Harding every 40 seconds lol.

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2510606#Comment_2510606

I think the indicator would be better if it was when she phased not the start of the charge because then you could still fake it and stand still.

I just want to point out that if a killer has a grantee counter evertime they are bottom tier name one top killer that has 100% counter when using there power. I think people forgot that the killer should have the advantage when using there power.

I agree with it being at the start of the phase, not the charge.

And your second paragraph is 100% correct - killers should NOT have a guaranteed counter to all aspects of their power. Killers are supposed to be the POWER ROLE. But many survivor players think it’s ok for it to be normal running a killer for 5 gens lol.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2510325#Comment_2510325

And I agree you shouldn’t need gen regression. Base regression is stupid and needs a buff. In the same way certain perks shouldn’t be needed to counter certain killers

I think I’ve said this already, but all she needs is a SMALL indication (like a subtle animation) of when she starts phasing, and maybe make her footsteps a little louder when phasing.

As for her power values, they do not need any more nerfs.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2509764#Comment_2509764

Again a perk isn’t a solid counter to a killer. I shouldn’t need to run a perk just to have a chance of beating them. That’s just terrible design.

For example I don’t need any perks to counter a billy in a chase. All I need is my own mechanics and knowledge on his power. He gives feedback and you can react accordingly to counter him. Spirit gives no feedback so I have no way to react. She is the only chase based killer to not have feedback which is a huge issue

What other killer literally relys on a perk to counter them?

Tit for tat. I, as a killer player, shouldn’t be forced to run gen regression perks to have a chance with lower tier killers (or even higher tier killers at times, depending on map/RNG).

Don’t be proud, use the tools you have if Spirit bothers you so much.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2509720#Comment_2509720

So what would a good survivor do while injured against spirit besides just guess and hope for the best? Obviously it can happen but the odds are vastly in the spirit’s favor. Even something simple like spirit moving foliage while phasing could be a decent change.

And like nurse a killer with her strength shouldn’t be easy to learn and master

Just run Iron Will, man. If you really face Spirit that often and hate facing her and/or don’t know how to counter her, just run the dang perk. Only 1 is really needed, but Dead Hard and Q&Q also is good

I can’t play the game for you lol.

  • When I play survivor I rarely get Spirit. But you’re probably seeing a few more now that the sound bug got rightfully fixed.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2509191#Comment_2509191

And can you tell me what that playstyle is besides using perks? Using mindgames will only work while healthy and even then spirit still has a lot of ways to track you.

Also even if she uses her full phase what if she has duration (which adds recharge because fun) and recovery add ons? The cooldown is much shorter and gives survivors barely any reward for actually managing to pull something off.

I just told you. You can still mindgame even when injured, just because you can’t do it yourself doesn’t mean it’s not possible.

Just like good Nurse, you’re not going to run a good Spirit for 2+ gens like you would other killers but that’s fine. The fact that you can already run a (M1) killer for tons of gens shows how unbalanced this game/maps currently are.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2506841#Comment_2506841

As I said the killer can hear me slow vault the window. Unless I have iron will it doesn’t matter what I do because the spirit can track everything you do by sound or sight.

Good spirits do waste their phase. They use it in short bursts so the cooldown is minimised and the penalty for messing up a phase is negligible

Not every Spirit you face will be top tier, plenty of them waste their full phase without getting a hit - it just requires a completely different playstyle from survivors.

1 … 10 11 12 13 14 … 30
