I don't mind what they did to slinger. From what I read everything that got changed was for the better. Could've buffed his range but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
Personally just happy that Deathslinger isn't going to be 8m behind me with basically no heartbeat.

Not gutted but I expect the really bullshit ones to be gone. She has such good green and yellow add-ons that I don't expect many buffs either.
I didn't see it anywhere that totems can be relighted by survivors. I'm pretty certain they won't be able to but if you've seen them say that boon totems can be used more than once then please tag me in it.
I can confirm @MandyTalk said that Boon Totems can be re-lit even if a killer snuffs them out. It’s in one of the Boon threads.

It's too subtle that's being the issue. The survivors (when the nerf that applies her kicking up dust is applied anyway,) are about to be given 3 ways in total to identify where the Spirit is if they all take place at once. The dust, the foliage rustling, and the directional phasing.
The need to give survivors extra ways to see the Spirit is still unwarranted since they're given the exact same ability to see where she's coming from by looking at the foliage.
Should be the survivors that kick up dust while Spirit is phasing. 😎

I would expect she would start with zero traps in her inventory. Its also Iridescent, so of a rareity where you cant use it every game.
It says nothing about starting with 0 RBTs. If Ruleset No. 2 stays, those two add-ons combined on RPD will be NASTY.
-
Quickscope needs to stay, but there definitely needs to be an action delay/slowdown added if Slinger decides to stop aiming (to prevent free zoning).
-
What they SHOULD HAVE done is:
- Leave the quickscope mechanic
- ADD a delay if he cancels his aim, that way skilled quickscope players don’t get punished but if they cancel their aim to “zone” survivors then they get slowed and can’t hit out if it immediately
- Change his Terror Radius to 28 meters

If two or more are active then gens repair themselves.
Or Hex Blessed Grounds -
Blessing a totem will slow the killer by 5% for 60 seconds.

I can envision the natural progression of my upcoming high MMR games. Two hooks achieved, four gens done, and one boon totem that's been giving survivors stackable +10% repair speed on generators that I have no idea where it is. I'm excited for these upcoming changes!
It will “raise the skill ceiling for killers”, though!! 😊

@Myla said:
So are they changing some perks into hex? Like all exhaustion perks are in one boon(obviously op for the killer but just an example)
The devs have been tight-lipped about the actual effects in the boon totem perks, so no one knows.

BOON TOTEM EXAMPLE
Hex Anti-Ruin: Generators no longer regress

One can only hope.

Yeah so where nerfing there most op item and changing a mechanic that’s no longer annoying. Devs like survivors amiright?
Hatch (like Moris) ended games prematurely without requiring much skill. The change is justified.
Killers, however, have been slow to receive buffs because it can “get out of hand”, and they “stomp newer survivors”.

Not to mention the killer can't sit on a dull totem all game to prevent it getting relit. It's going to mean walking across the map to find their stupid boon, stamping it out, then before you even find someone else to chase it'll be right back up.
I sincerely hope the devs listen to KILLER feedback on these Boon Totems. If their effects are marginal, then it may not be so bad… but my gut says they will be powerful (will have to wait and see). If it’s the latter, there may be some serious reworks needed right off the bat.
-
@anarchy753 said:
If they're going to be the survivor equivalent of hexes, they should at the very least carry the same risk. Once a boon totem has been extinguished that survivor should never be able to reapply them. There's already potentially 4 boon totems, there's no reason they should be allowed to continually refresh them.
Exactly. Imagine the outcry from survivors if killer hex perks could be rebuilt.
-
@Mandy said:
Killers will hear the Boon Totems when in range...also the strategic part is do to with the perks that are tied to the totems, how that interacts with them and other survivors.
How far out can Killers hear the totems? Is it the same as survivors with Hex perks? Because that’s an awfully small range.
-
@CashelP14 said:
Very happy with the hatch change!
Built to last buff could be annoying initially but I think people may stop running it after a while and only use the meta stuff.
The 2 killer changes I'm extremely happy about 👍
Overall they did the best developer update yet (would've been better with Hag deletion but I'll take the add-on nerf instead).
We don’t know if her add-ons will be gutted yet. Besides, Hag can do extremely well with even her yellows.
Seems like each update is a rollercoaster… some very high highs and some very low lows. Hatch change? FANTASTIC. I don’t really care about the last survivor getting the hatch. Boon Totems, AND survivors can relight them if a killer “snuffs them out”? Laughable.
-
@Mandy said:
If the killer snuffs out the Boon Totem, it turns the totem back into a dull one. The Survivor can then choose to rebless that totem or another one.
Also, whilst they have a Boon Totem blessed, if they choose to bless another one - then they can, and it will remove from the original blessed totem onto the new one.
(edited as I keep writing Boom instead of boon!)
Great, so can killers build their Hex Totems back up in the future if a survivor snuffs them out? 😊
-
Almost all of them are survivor perks. 🙂 Yay.
-
I don’t really play Deathslinger when I go Killer, but I do think as survivor having to wiggle to avoid a quickscope was kind of annoying.
I’m fine with the nerfs BUT they could have increased his turning rate while aiming as well, imo.
-
Survivor main with a 10% escape rate identified.
Honestly, the dust mechanic was stupid to begin with and the directional audio is more than enough. Biggest gripe with Spirit was not knowing when she’s phasing (stand still mindgame), and now that’s gone.

Not 'at all times', the only way to see her in phase is through dust on the floor. If a survivor is at a loop then they won't be able to see her footsteps until she is right behind them. Realistically, the only way survivors would be able to see where she is is when they are in a deadzone like on autohaven or crotus prenn, if they are in a deadzone then it doesn't matter if they can see where she is because of course it's a deadzone and there would be nothing they could do.
Directional audio, as well. They’ll know where she’s phasing from.

Which is why I fear for them both when Boon Totems come in. If they have to traverse the map and leave their trapped territory (especially Trapper) to cleanse a boon totem that's pretty much game over for them.
Oof, that does sound rough. Seems like the devs are dead-set in adding this dumb feature, unfortunately. Zero consideration for how it’ll affect killers.

I never understood why you guys decided to delete the interaction from the game, never made any sense to remove it because it was never op. Why can't we run skill check perks anymore to make jigsaw boxes more challenging?
Because it raises the “skill ceiling” for Pig and always makes the game less frustrating for survivors. 😊
-
Yes, I’m upset but it’s just a videogame so I keep things in perspective.
Your wording in your OP leads me to me believe you have strong feelings yourself and are the victim of many ass kickings delivered by Rin Yamaoka. 😊

Apologies for my late response, I was working at the time.
That I will agree with you on, they shouldn't change those two, I would love for a more transformative killer, but they shouldn't remove speed and duration.
Yeah man, with the tracking tools survivors will have to counter her she will definitely need those two to remain untouched in order to play around dropped pallets and windows.
The husk exploding add-on seems fun, but 5 seconds is nothing… and the meter distance is laughable. The devs are always super cautious when giving killers something potentially “broken”, but always go to the other extreme and make it hilariously weak.
-

Yup. Your point being? Also two isn't a ton.
You'll be fine, Spirits will be fine. They take a bit more to properly master now without it being a middle finger to the opposing team. She hasn't received the Hillbilly treatment which overall is the worst thing to been changed to a killer, you just have visual effects while other killers are more QOL.
Also Trapper's isn't too much of QOL, his QOL was him being able to reset a bear trap without picking it up or them being sabotaged. (Remember that?)
Like I’ve said before, I just hope her add-ons aren’t gutted. I’m praying speed/duration add-ons will still exist, if that’s the case then I’ll be content.

I'm sorry that one killer is getting nerfed while the others are getting buffed?
Only Trapper is getting a QoL buff to his power, from what has been confirmed.
Meanwhile Spirit got tons of negatives added to her power.
Perks don’t count as killer buffs, by the way. And of the perks getting buffed, they won’t make any killer much better. They’re all niche. I would say only Retribution has the best, more effective buff coming.

So nerfing a blatantly broken killer is a bad thing? Guess a balanced game isn’t a good thing to strive for

1 game is enough to confirm your theory? Lol.

Ah, yes I do seem to have a reputation for hating the Blueberry ######### don't I?
But I doubt things will change soon- even with legion I still dislike facing them because I get flashbacks to Old Legion™. I'll probably see a Spirit and even if she's been slashed to the ground I'll just recall the years of torment and start crying
Blueberry B*. 🤣 Did you know when you quote someone, you can see the “bad word” they typed?
I just hope her add-ons remain useful. The two sample changes seem… memey.
-
He said “Rather any other killer over him, even an un nerfed spirit/good nurse“. I said he should talk to you about that. It’s implying that he should try to convince you to share that sentiment, since it’s well known how much you hate Spirit (above all other killers).
-
@DawnMad said:
Many people think these nerfs may be too harsh, but what you are doing is just overreacting. You should wait until the chapter to see how these changes will actually affect the Spirit since it is too early to know right now.
They said the same about, Billy. Look how they massacred my boy.
”Wait until the changes are live”, they said…
-
@Katie_met said:
There's a difference between nerf and balance. Spirit's power has changed in no way, and she can still phase and catch up to survivors. The only change is that survivors know when she is phasing, something which they should have been able to know from her initial release, which pretty much only gets rid of the crappy 'standing still mind game', and may make things like gen grabs more difficult, since her phase is now directional.
I find it to be a balance because, like I said, her power hasn't changed so there's no real nerf.
Plus, I'd probably wait to actually see what she is like in the ptb before definitively saying that she has been nerfed.
Spirit’s power has changed in no way? Survivors know EXACTLY where she is at all times now that her phase gives directional audio and visual cues. That’s a huge nerf. At the most, she only needed the phase sound audible within her terror radius.
-
Can’t tell if this is a joke or not. “Candies”?!?! If this is supposed to be a tracking perk for survivors, Bond already exists.
And Portable Lighter is a complete waste of time.
I don’t know man, the perks need a lot more work. Mother looks like she’d be Spirit’s Rated-PG aunt. Her power is just an amalgamation of existing perks (Fire Up, PWYF, Monitor, Coup).
-
@EntitySpawn said:
He not OP, just absolutely hate him. Least interactive killer to verse, as a solo is 50/50 if you step in a trap at that loop. Could be in 60seconds could be in 6seconds.
Not op, just not fun. Rather any other killer over him, even an un nerfed spirit/good nurse
You should have a chat with my man @GoodBoyKaru regarding that last bit. 😊
But yeah agreed, I don’t find it OP - just annoying. You either know a trap is there and you loop him around it like an M1 killer or you don’t and your chase ends.

I actually prefer big changes like this than traditional small steps. They always can revert some of Spirit's changes if she become too weak and her pickrate go below Hillbilly.
But big changes aren’t needed for a viable killer, though. Spirit isn’t a broken killer that needs a rework, nor a bottom tier that needs major changes (old Freddy). Heck, she’s not even considered stronger than Nurse.
Glad you bring up Hillbilly, a killer even survivors considered “fun and balanced”, and general consensus was that he was a top 5 killer at least. Instead of just fixing a couple of add-ons, BHVR gave his add-ons an overhaul but gutted serviceable ones that weren’t even overpowered. They also gave his chainsaw an overheat mechanic which no one asked for. Guess what? Now hardly anyone plays Billy…
So forgive me when I am skeptical when the devs decide to overhaul a killer. It usually ends up simply making life for survivors “fun” while “raising the skill ceiling” for the killer.
-
His power auto injures or even can lead to instadown; people underestimate a fully set up Trapper with a 3 gen. Hag can only injure.
I think he should start with more than 2 but the buff is a good start. The purple add-on will still be stronger than most people realize.
-
@Kees_T said:
Looks fair.
I think we should have one like:
Hex Hope: When a Survivor is hooked, all Survivors will receive the Haste effect, which increases their speed by 10%.
So same speed as Huntress, etc.? Yikes

I can see this perk being amazing with Speed Limiter Bubba as it will be much easier to two tap.
This is an interesting application. Unfortunately it’s still a hex perk.

Didn't they literally fix one of her sound bugs within 2 patch cycles, one of which was a chapter patch?
It’s a joke, implying that BHVR changes/removes/adds things that don’t need to be while there are other needs that are more pressing.
Spirit didn’t need a nerf, just some counterplay to the admittedly BS stand-still mindgame.
-
Sound bug: *exists*
BHVR: We hear you loud and clear! Spirit nerf incoming.
-
@Unifall said:
All the devs needed to do is just add a 24m sound que when she phases thats all. But they went over board again.
Indeed. It’s called a Knee Jerk Reaction.
-
@DwarvenTavern said:
I'm imagining it's just a subtle dirt kick instead of cartoonish sandstorms like everyone is thinking. Not impossible to notice, but if you're not paying attention it'll bite you.
That way it's more tolerable in indoor maps since one of the main excuses pro Spirits use as an argument is "just look at the grass when she phases. You'll notice it." The issue is that's it's not an on going counter since there are a good chunk of maps that don't have grass to watch
They’re also adding directional audio, so you can SEE and HEAR where she’s phasing from. But people that were crying before will say it’s “fair and balanced” and that Spirit players “deserve what’s coming”.
The last straw would be making Spirit actually visible during her phase.

I'm so sorry but I remember people saying to make Trapper Bag basekit for years, they do it and suddenly it's the wrong change?
And- again, correct me if I'm wrong, but Hex:Ret, Blood Favour, and Thrill have not been nerfed? Trapper has not been nerfed? So my original comment is correct, yes?
You are correct. They buffed Trapper and improved some niche or outright useless perks which will continue to be niche or serviceable at best. Although this still deserves some kudos for the effort.
Trapper changes should have came long ago, but good for BHVR. Small but acceptable QOL changes.
Spirit change is the opposite of trapper… a HUGE, knee-jerk reaction nerf that is obviously in response to survivor complaints. Instead of simply adding an animation for when she starts phasing and testing that, they add an entire audio cue PLUS directional audio PLUS a visual cue (footstep dust).
Typical BHVR will be slow to buff a killer, but too quick to nerf multiple aspects. Case in point, Freddy. They made pretty much all but 2 of his add-ons bottom tier, made his slower when using his snare power, and correct me if I’m wrong but reduced his snare count. All he needed was a rework of his gen slowdown add-ons, but they like to overcompensate. Same goes for Billy - insta saw was a problem but then they gave him an overheat mechanic.
