Where is the “strategy” for Boon Perks?
Per the developer update:
This will add some more strategic decisions for survivors to make when it comes to their interactions with Totems.
Hmm, survivors will really have to strategize wether to give themselves a buff or not… /sarcasm. Um, no - there is zero strategy involved.
Not sure why they have the capability to be re-lit, either. If there’s “strategy” involved, shouldn’t the survivors be careful about which totem they choose to bless?
On paper, this sounds like a poorly-designed objective. Survivors will spend a few seconds giving themselves a perk (with potentially strong effects) for little to no risk, while killers (who cannot afford to waste time in the current state) will now have worry about hunting totems if they want to play around a Boon Perk.
If Boon Totem auras are visible to the killer that would at least make it fair and manageable.

Killers will hear the Boon Totems when in range...also the strategic part is do to with the perks that are tied to the totems, how that interacts with them and other survivors.
Bless a totems in a dead area where gens have been done.
StRaTeGy.
To my understanding Boom totems will only give the buff in a certain area.
So the strategic part is deciding where that area is.
i mean....survivors managed perfectly fine without boon perks, so they will continue to do the same.
I honestly do not see any strategy in them.
also if its true that you can bless a hex totem to change it into a boon thats even more dumb. Idk these feel like a useless addition where the development time and costs could have been better spent elsewhere. Lets see what the boon totems actually do and then pass judgement xD
How far out can Killers hear the totems? Is it the same as survivors with Hex perks? Because that’s an awfully small range.
If they're going to be the survivor equivalent of hexes, they should at the very least carry the same risk. Once a boon totem has been extinguished that survivor should never be able to reapply them. There's already potentially 4 boon totems, there's no reason they should be allowed to continually refresh them.
Exactly. Imagine the outcry from survivors if killer hex perks could be rebuilt.
Not to mention the killer can't sit on a dull totem all game to prevent it getting relit. It's going to mean walking across the map to find their stupid boon, stamping it out, then before you even find someone else to chase it'll be right back up.
I sincerely hope the devs listen to KILLER feedback on these Boon Totems. If their effects are marginal, then it may not be so bad… but my gut says they will be powerful (will have to wait and see). If it’s the latter, there may be some serious reworks needed right off the bat.
That's pretty funny, they just added a secondary objective to killer and you think they care about killer feedback on the matter.
One can only hope.
So are they changing some perks into hex? Like all exhaustion perks are in one boon(obviously op for the killer but just an example)
I can envision the natural progression of my upcoming high MMR games. Two hooks achieved, four gens done, and one boon totem that's been giving survivors stackable +10% repair speed on generators that I have no idea where it is. I'm excited for these upcoming changes!
The devs have been tight-lipped about the actual effects in the boon totem perks, so no one knows.
It will “raise the skill ceiling for killers”, though!! 😊
Yeah, we need to make sure every killer takes Otzdarva levels of dedication in order to have a chance at winning while survivors get to just hold a button and get carried by map design/perks.
they called them small safe havens? that's nightmare fuel.
i can only imagine a yui standing next to a boon on the games second floor, i hit her and she has the endurance effect on her...
send shivers down my spine.
