Goddamn, really? People commenting to "git gud" that get to play the game a shitton more than most, and are probably running a huge arsenal, if not a full arsenal of perks telling people that likely don't have the hours, or perks that one of the hardest ways to play the game is fine?

I swear the way they talk, and offer nothing to help combat SWFs is BEYOND useless. Bragging don't help.

People that stream, have massive arsenals, lots of time to play, etc. are so far removed from the average player, and their problems. Period. That's it.
They don't know anymore what it's like, and they normalize their experiences with everyone else' to the point that anyone that defies their "normal" looks crazy. The way they go on about liking the difficulty, never dodging, etc. that they look at people who don't enjoy the difficulty spike as anomalies. smh

It's like a millionaire telling an average person to just cut a check to get major car repairs done, or something.

P.S.: With upcoming changes to BT, a perk that breaks hooks, aura blocking lockers, and who knows what else favoring survivors, being a killer looks like it's going to start to suck.

I work two jobs and do volunteer work as a mod in my spare time. I'm lucky if I get to play a few hours a week, yet I still do just fine. Time is not the only factor there. You gotta' put in the effort to learn the little details of the game (which way to run tiles, how to predict the survivors' movement/actions, and other little tricks like moonwalking to hide your stain). That's not to say that playing a lot won't help, but you can do just fine even if you only play a couple hours a week.

If you don't put in the effort to get better, yes, absolutely you're going to lose to a good team. They practiced and learned the intricacies of the game and you didn't. By definition, they are better players in that case.

Avoiding good teams and not learning how to beat them is not the way to get better.

There's no shame in losing a match. I lose sometimes, no biggy. If they played well and I made mistakes, I shouldn't win. Balancing the game in a way where you can not play the game and not try to get better at it but still win against someone who does play the game and does try to get better at it is the definition of unbalanced. If I suck, I suck, I take my loss and derank to a rank more fitting to me.

(Not making any statements about you in particular, just a broad statement.)

I'm willing to bet that despite all of that your arsenal of perks beats mine. You're far better equipped to vs an SWF, I'm sure, so you're going to do better than someone who just started, or has less.
That kinda taints how I see your point of view, which amounts to throwing less equipped, less experienced people to the wolves casually while thinking they are on par with you, or better. Aka normalising your experiences to everyone else's.

Killers starting out are basically going to have to turn it up to 11 to try and keep up with teams playing with power they shouldn't have.
Meanwhile an SWF has fun far more easily because they have power they shouldn't have.
We both know that SWF is harder in general.
Survivors at the rank range will be harder than solos in that range I'm sure.
Even friends goofing off will turn the difficulty up and start using power the game wasn't balanced for if the killer seems like a threat.

Then there is the fact that SWF is easier for the survivors, widening the gap in easy for them vs hard for the killer. I seriously do not find that fair. The game, again, is not balanced for it.
It's the equivalent of you saying killers won't get better avoiding the good teams.
A survivor won't get better relying on enhanced power in an SWF.
When they play solo, it's likely going to be a ride awakening when they can't coordinate with a buddy to bail them out.
Yet it's apparently perfectly ok for survivors to do it.

They're basically playing below where they should be at in terms of rank because their combined success, and power doesn't really factor in properly.
It's like putting the game on normal difficulty, but the game ignores that and puts it on hard, or worse depending on how much the SWF wants to hold back.
And that is going to start controlling your rank.

Blood point gains generally suffer against SWFs. Which hinders a killers ability to strengthen their arsenal. Having the tools to get better is pretty nice while getting better in general.

In the end, while I agree that you can't win them all, I will not pretend there is no difference between losing against people playing as the game was intended vs people playing with unintended advantages.
It gets worse when you consistently have to deal with people playing with unintended advantages the game wasn't balanced for.
SWF should not be the average difficulty of the game until the game is balanced for it.
Considering the word from the PTB, and the new matchmaking, that won't be any time soon. Infact it will get worse.
It's not even really matchmaking, imo. It doesn't factor in the power boost an SWF gets.
  • They'll get better once the new matchmaking rolls out in your area, and people won't be able to detect SWFs as easily anymore making it harder to dodge.

  • SWFs aren't the problem! You just have to play about 12 hours a day to hone being a killer! Get good like me!

  • Converting anything to BP breaks the game.

You can potentially convert iridescent shards into BP by purchasing a perk already unlocked in the shrine.
Probably not a huge threat to anything, though.
  • Agreed. They're basically holding the game hostage at that point.

Doesn't help finding the hatch yourself, it just makes a standoff unless you can tell the survivor where the hatch is so they can leave.
If they leave. ######### will probably camp  and taunt until you hit them or something.

It's especially annoying when they're in the gate room, flashlight you so you get blinded or look away, then they run by you to find the damn hatch.
  • You can always pull up a profile and hope they haven't filtered out messages from strangers.
  • Wish I had that much free time.
  • Don't have a main per say.

I need to get my Min built back up as I prestiged her. I like lithe and technician.

Nea is usually my go to aside from Min as she has some good perk assortment.

Kate is my escape artist. I roadrunner killers with her thanks to dance with me, lithe, and light weight

Meg is a good escape artist, too.

Killer side, I largely just use Huntress at the moment, though my aim is terrible. Short of bbq and chili (no LF bought) she has all the bonus BP perks. Her humming is nice, too.
Working on Nurse to get her teachable, too.
Once I can get my Russian Roulette builds going, Spirit (her lunge is delicious for some reason), and Pig, too. Maybe Hag.
I have a feeling once the PTB stuff goes public, and the new match making system goes up for everyone, killer will be way more annoying, though.

I might want legion. It depends on the end result. As it is, if I wanted to ineffectively beat someone to death over a long period of time in a highly inefficient way while wearing a hoodie, I would have preferred they make Ginosaji.
  • @Rebel_Raven so back to the point why don't change the game either give an AI and say we have to mode ( AI and PVP) or make the game to give the same ( as much possible ) info to the player and the swf.

I'd like a vs AI mode for killer and survivors. I know they could do it, but probably wouldn't until they need to jump the shark, so to speak.

To give solo survivors as much information as SWFs have  a lot of perks would be part of the base kit.
They would know how many totems are left, where the gens are, where the killer is at almost all times, and more.
    How do you balance that?
  • @DarkGGhost said:
But with this logic the killer need a ton of toxic buff so they can play the game otherwise just create a AI to be the killer and all the problems there.

Yeah like why not just make this game a 4 person COOP game? I mean with their thought process it's what they want rather than a 4v1.

Because they need to balance around communicating survivors, and they basically can't right now.

They don't have a huge choice though. SWF, and third party chat systems already make the game a 4 person coop.

And since the game isn't balanced for it, well, it makes things harder on the killer.
  • It could be helpful, but I basically do the wait until someone else gets chased tactic without it, and no aura reading.
It gets easier and easier as time goes.

What would really help stealth is being rewarded for it. I get that the devs want interactions, but it messes up with the people who don't loop, and run like meth heads.
  • Play how you want to play, but i would be ready to adjust tactics over time.

You absolutely do not have to play the way anyone else wants you to.
Bad survivors love making up rules the killer has to abide by.

they did it. they fixed gen-rushing. how could they. i only recently started doing it. if you don't know what i'm on about the then you probably haven't seen the new killers perks. one of them makes it so you can't Dwight gen-rush without having the killer know about it (unless there a potato). it doesn't make it impossible to gen-rush, it just makes it riskier.

When multiple survivors are on one generator they are repair that generator faster, yes. However, it is more efficient to split up, which is how folks gen rush. If you have two survivors on one generator the killer can saunter over and apply pressure to two people so ideally only the other two people will be repairing. The "gen rush" is really all four survivors on different generators. If you find one person all three of their buddies are working away while you chase the one survivor.

The perk can stop super repairs, but such a small number if players try to leader stack that it's effect will actually be negative. Since the perk encourages you to split up, people will be repairing more generators at one time. If anything, this perk will increase gen rushing for a while.
Actually, depending, there is something of a penalty for multiple survivors on the same gen.
You get less skill checks overall.
  • KING_DEDE said:

See lol now I’m gonna purposely get the killers attention and get them to chase me just so the others can gen rush

That is usually how it is done. A distraction, maybe 2, and the rest do gens.
  • I was thinking of a build, but I'm nowhere near having the setup.
And Monto actually made some loadouts similar to it, and called it Russian Roulette which is fitting.

Ruin (to slow the game down just a little bit), Thrill of the hunt, devour hope, and Haunted grounds.
    With some variations to taste.
    All hexes.

I'd love to know how it works for others while I pray to RNGeebus.
  • Wait.....
ALL AURA READING ABILITIES WON'T WORK IF SOMEONE IS IN A LOCKER?!

I don't know about all. Just the killers if I understand properly.
  • Nah. The entity fuels the killers to supernatural strength. They're fine.

Can you imagine the bullshit trolling that would go on if there were penalties? Lampkin lane houses, the Game, Freddy's level just to start.
  • The killers aren't really scary, though.
Some might get in some jump scares, but no one is scared of them, rather what they can do.

I.e. some people might dread when the nurse, or doctor is the killer.

Even if they were scary, and they probably were at one time, once you go through a haunted house enough, it will eventually stop being scary.

Survivors are already in a power role. Especially in SWF.
Especially with the new perks, and buffs so far in PTB.
  • It's what happens when you have Dr. Weird on the dev team.
    https://youtu.be/ryAO8Zmv4ag

But seriously, I'm not bothered by the maps. The game is way more annoying because of having to find the stairs, and I haven't cracked the code.
  • No! These teenagers and such need to be punished for their transgressions!!

How dare they dress conservatively, and not be making out at every opportunity!
How dare they not be partying, and drinking, and blasting loud music!
  • And don't forget the new matchmaking system that will make it harder to detect SWF so they can get matches easier and screw with killers.
  • Is it just me or is Jeff's only connection to the killer is doing 'artwork' at the ski lodge yeah fair enough about the rest of Jeff's story with the dog an what not but still also to me jeff is basically an upgraded version of David mixed in with the clown (minus clowns outfit)
His dad might have been the Janitor the Legion killed, too.

I appreciate the suggestion and implicit acknowledgment that perks such as Dying Light and Remember Me have received a minor nerf as a result.

Remember me is buffed by this. If you tunnel your obsession with Remember me, you only get 4 stacks. Try again.

You are confirming at the time of this posting hits while feral add tokens, such as in Remember Me?
    All hits add tokens, friendo.
Just making sure because Legion hits pretty quickly when feral, and perks like NOED do not work in feral mode, iirc.

  • Legion's backstory is actually really cool. Not on the level of Kenneth or Rin, but still far better than Michael (they still need to give him and Laurie a decent backstory). Especially how Susie really didn't want to kill, hence why she had the least tally marks on the teaser.

The end of Jeff's backstory is just sad. Poor dog (yes, I felt more bad for the dog than I did for the janitor that got murdered, that's just how I am. I love animals, both on and off the table.)

Yeah, that dog reminded me of the futurama episode. :[
  • That goes through my head when I'm hooked, and the doors are open.

I mean if you want to run a daring rescue attempt, and realistically can, go for it, but otherwise, yeah, bail.
  • Overall it just seems so damn annoying.

It's like "look, I know you just got here, and the injured guy would be so much easier to take down, but if you could go after someone else, and have to chase and hit them multiple times that would be greaaat.

If you could also basically let the guy that got unhooked have enough time to go and get healed so you have to chase and hit them twice the next time you run into them, that would he greaat.

If you could just not use this hook, and pick another one regardless of how far away it it, that would be great.

If you, regardless of killer choice, talent, etc. Could give survivors more time to get gens done while we eat up your time, that would be great."

It's like they're trying to go out of their way to make the game harder on killers by making them spend time inefficiently.

    @Orion
Breaking news, hit the others or grab them while performing the rescue.
Breaking News - The MK chapter has not dropped yet, and Goro is not a playable character.
Off topic, but DBD and MK could be a shared universe since both have Freddy, and Leatherface.
    Unlikely to crossover, though. :/
  • Feels like they're really putting the screws to the killers, basically forcing them to let people go, and trying to find someone else, and acting like that's always possible.

Like no killer has ever gotten to an unhooking, and the unhooker is long gone, and the person unhooked is spotted first?
  • You gotta admit, Legion plays usually.
Most people are used to chasing one person until they're dying.

Legion is a serious departure from that, ideally. Optimal style seems to be finding, locating, and tagging multiple people in short order.
Problem is that's betting heavily that there's multiple people not only in close proximity, but they can be tagged before fury runs out.
  • Just as long as you master it.
  • @Dragonredking said:

Gen rushing is when people are ploing gen left and right, being more than one person on a gen is detrimental in term of time since it would ammount to more time spend on gen that if they where each on an individual gen.

Also unless they give you an additionnal perk slot it doesn't fix a gameplay flaw it just slap flextape on a wound and say that it's better.
You fix gameplay issue by changing gameplay, not by giving an optionnal item.

oh. i thought gen rushing was when the survivors get gens done VERY fast. my mistake. i also meant when survivors use leader and prove thy self and do gens together wich gets gens done pretty fast.

It is when survivors are doing gens very fast, but it's usually fastest when they split up.
It's like in the first minute and a half, they have 3 gens done, then the other 2 like 2 minutes later.

It's harder to do one gen at a time, even ganging up on it, but possible, I figure.
  • Teabagging doesn't bother me much.

There's worse they can do, like camp the gate room, flashlight spam, coordinate and/or organize into something 4 solos shouldn't be, trying to get the hatch escape over the gate, especially when they were in the gate room.

As a survivor, I try to do it sparingly. If a killer is camping, and I want to draw them away, or something.
  • Thoroughly agreed. Gate camping survivors are toxic.

Some bastards will try to flashlight blind you, and run back into the map to get the hatch.
Finding a lone survivor is one thing, but finding one who has no objective other than the hatch, and if you don't have a good tracking perk makes it super annoying.

There aughta be a timer once the gates are open, and no one is hooked. 30 seconds then survivors start loosing blood points in a snowballing fashion.
The killer, or survivor can concede to stop the loss of blood points.

    excuse my ignorance....  BM?
    Bad Manners.

  • I play both here.

Totems need to be severely adjusted to be harder to find, and/or harder to break, and NEVER spawn within the vicinity of a survivor, generator, or hook.
I had a fairly unpopular perk idea that would allow totems to regen once broken, and potentially swap positions.
    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/31970/killer-perk-idea-rekindle-old-flames

Hex Ruin could no longer be a totem, or played into the better hiding notion above since it's about the only thing that works fast enough to intercept a gen rush. 3 gens can get done in 1:30 and the other 2 in about a minute and a half after that. There are literally vids on youtube showing this, and I cannot wrap my mind around how one can create enough map pressure to stop a 3 minute gen rush.

Generators no longer spawn in the immediate vicinity of survivors though that would be near impossible on smaller maps like Freddy, or Myers.

Speed up kicking gens, and/or the regression.

Add a very slow regression when the gen isn't being worked on.

  • I liked how he showcased the powers, and got better and better with them over time. We learned with him.

It's an it not a she, I don't understand why people don't use the added speed to get close and wait for the ability to fall off to kill someone, it seems like a free starting hit with a bonus effect.

Legion is a gang. ATM there's 1 guy, and 1 girl you can pick. Sorta like gender select.

Seems like there's a cooldown similar to the Nurse' after blinking is why people don't use it like that.

  • Pig has zero terror radius, and can down people faster because her attacks are more conventional, it seems.

Legion seems to have a harder time of taking people down directly with the power needing to hit a person upwards of 4 times to deplete their bar, and drop them.
It's great to close the gap, and chase, but hitting them enough to deplete their bleed out is near impossible. The idea seems to be to zoom around and hit multiple people.

Hope they update her so she can. She just looks like a vaulter instead of a smasher.

  • How do people not see the potential of the pressure he can apply? Hit one guy with a deep wound, go to a nearby gen or somewhere where there might be other survivors, hit one guy, go after another with a frenzy and you can snowball from there. They'll all be mending and healing and you'll be smacking them down. He/she is similar to the pig in the way that gives survivors and extra thing to do throughout the game.

Because survivors with knowledge of how the powers work will just spread out? This killer isn't exactly covering ground like Billy.
  • All shrines are the same iirc.
And I have several Myers and freddy perks and have neither bought.

Really hoping for bbq, or maybe play with your food. Bbq most definitely though.

If anything it makes gen progress worse. It encourages survivors to work on separate gens. It's faster for survivors to do separate gens than gens together.

Yeah. It's only kinda faster to gang up on a gen with Ruin in play so you get less skill checks.
I don't think that's ever been a tactic used by survivors though.
  • Huh. Killer gender select. Neat!
  • New killer has a perk that let's him see when multiple people are working on a gen.

I would hardly call that a fix, though. You have to have the killer, the perk has to be teachable or you can only use that killer, and there is still the old 3 people doing 3 gens while someone runs distractions rush.

I'd love to see SWFs marked, or filtered out of match making -as an option- for survivors and killers.

But this would only lead to neverending queues for people who which are about to play together with their friends, because, obviously, a killer who is able to choose of playing against premade teams, or take the much easier option of playing against solo-survivors, would always chose the latter.

Killers already dodge, and dodged for a while.
I'm sure they will either find a way to figure out who is swf and dodge again, or they will quit because most people don't like having the deck stacked against them like that.

We both know the difficulty is higher with SWFs. Now it's getting easier to trick people into playing against them because evidently that's the only way to do it since you feel like everyone will dodge them now.

There are plenty of people who refuse to dodge, too.

Barring that, there's always bonus points, especially blood points to entice me to deal with the SWF headache which generally cuts into my blood points to begin with.

  • As much as I hate SWF for helping survivors to play the game in ways the game isn't balanced for, I recognize it as necessary.
Friends want to play with each other, and before SWF was added they entered and left lobbies until they were in the same lobby as a friend.

I'd love to see SWFs marked, or filtered out of match making -as an option- for survivors and killers.
Especially now that the new match making system will hide them more.

I'd love to see serious blood point bonuses per SWF participant in the match. Maybe XP, too.
If someone doesn't want the bonuses add a toggle to turn them off.

Unfortunately I'm hard pressed to see killers compensated for the difficulty spike SWF brings which goes from moderate to insane while the SWFs games get easier and easier.
They're trying to make it easier for SWFs to get a game by hiding how they get detected, and doing nothing for the Killers afterall.

Faster trials don't help when they become headaches that make a killer want to stop playing.
    That hurts the community overall.
