No. The killers are broken individuals and wouldn't make the distinction.

It's not tunneling lmao. You guys don't know what that word actually means. Also I don't run BBQ because Whispers is better so
Whispers gets better the fewer survivors there are. BBQ gets worse the fewer survivors there are. I don't think one is better than the other, although I prefer whispers with Pig (and other stealth killers) and BBQ with others.
-
No. DS needs a nerf to make is less abusable than anything. Look at the amount of people that say: just get in a locker. It shows how strong it is.
-
Depends on the killer... but in all likelihood, they either killed the other 3 or made them DC, so I'd leave via the gate.
If it's Julie though... I'm not sure...

FF is not, and was NEVER intended to actually down survivors.
It’s a stalling power. The threat of going into the dying state is meant to FORCE survivors to waste time running somewhere they can hide and mend.
But survivors were exploiting the DW timer pausing within the TR to still do objectives UNTIL Legion left the area.
Now that DW isn’t tied to TR, and will ALWAYS deplete when doing ANYTHING other than running, survivors are now forced to run and hide somewhere and HAVE to mend. They can’t do a gen, or totem, or rescue, or chest first. They HAVE to mend.
But I've had games where people can open the door even when with DW status...
-
Legion is an information killer. They use the information from Frenzy to make decisions that can change a match. Either you commit to the person, or you change to another. But you apply pressure by chasing multiple... but then they nerfed DW... because of a gimmick build and the new Oblivious perks...
-
I am a proud P3 Rank 1 Julie main.
The new changes make them worse, but I can still keep the pressure up... mostly...

That's this Community's logic. Apparentally any change is a huge nerf and Devs are stupid and hate us.
Well, all they said was they were going to look at addons for the Nurse and didn't mention looking at Spirit before that...
Look what they did after that...
-
It's a Plan B... mainly for Trapper though. Usually I run Ruin, BBQ, and one other perk of my choice, and survivors usually cleanse ruin right away... so I use it to counter genrushes.
You got all the gens done right away? Without even trying that much? And everyone has Adrenaline? But didn't do bones? Well now, I am no longer trapped in here with you. You're trapped in here with me!
I also run it on Freddy, but only to disguise that I have Rancor to other survivors. Only works in non SWFs though.

Because Legion. They ######### the Deep Wound status hardcore when they nerfed Legion. It was already bad enough as it was with it being chase based. TR based is EVEN HARDER to down people with. Actually, scratch that, it's next to impossible to down people with.
Now you no longer have to be in a chase, you just have to keep running and they'll never have DW tick down...

Oh yea I had the basement bug happen to me twice yesterday didn't even know it was a thing yikes.
I think though despite this I still like dbd on switch (I much prefer to play on pc but don't have available funds for it) bhvr just needs to get a optimization patch for console's out soon sometime, whenever that comes out we will have to see.
That glitch isn't just on Switch. It's on Xbox as well. Had a particularly toxic killer abuse that glitch to get a 3k.

That Legion now is better than previous Legion.
The changes to the DW completely overshadow the speed changes. Seperate them, and they don't seem like a fair comparison. Legion being faster should be a good change, especially at the small cost of mending times...
...but mending is Legion's only stalling mechanism on the basekit. Sure, 20 seconds mending (maximum with both blades pre change) may have been a bit much, but those addons together abandon the utility of others, like the Sketchbook's extra range or the Iri button's information + utility. It sacrifices a better Legion for a gimmick. And this gimmick is what the Dev's used to justify this first change. That and they wanted to buff BT. Two weak reasons by themselves.
The second DW change is a bit more... reactionary... I'm of course referring to the DW timer not going down while running change. This is due to them not testing Nemesis or BOP with Legion. I thought it would be a wonderful addition. It would punish survivors for doing two things:
- Pallet stunning a frenzied Legion. This is already a bad idea since legion's stun from Frenzy is longer than a pallet stun. Nemesis just punishes them further. They fully deserve that countdown. Heck, right now, DW is worse than Pig's RBTs.
- Drawing out a chase with a Legion. It punishes survivors for giving Legion the Frenzy hit on them, then continuing to be chased for a long period of time... even though it's disadvantageous for them to wait out the timer. I get this isn't fun, but survivors keep wanting Legion Nerfed, even though they are terrible. Unfortunately, they need something to be better, and since you survivor mains all still want basekit to be bad, then Legion should get these perks as compensation. However, this is also a shadow buff to BT, since now their timer goes on forever if they keep running...
I know my opinion on these changes are... controversial... but I as a R1 P3 Legion know exactly how limited Legion is, and that survivor mains want to keep them that way.
Then you put these changes in context to higher ranks. The shorter mending time allows survivors to be on gens for longer, meaning more pressure for the Legion player, and it causing more problems for them in the long run.
I didn't mention the changes to on hit perks on Legion, but they're mainly small in scope. It means you can keep stacks if you Frenzy the Obsession with STBFL, but it was never the perfect perk for them anyway. Sure, you can't apply Third Seal or Sloppy on Frenzy hit, but you can still apply it with the second hit. It just means it takes slightly more time.... and makes the button changes relevant.
The button changes were meh to begin with. Blindness for Legion is worthless. Hemorhage on Legion is pointless since blood (like scratches) is removed from the map when they frenzy, and Broken has such a small impact that you'd be better with other addons.
Iri Button is still the best addon, with either ruler or Sketchbook addons. They buffed the Mischief list, but it so small a buff it doesn't matter. Same with Sketchbook but Sketchbook was good before. IDK why they nerfed Mural sketch, it's not a good addon to begin with...
Overall... Legion got hit hard because of beHavior's poor planning with the Oblivious perks.
TL:DR: The buffs to Legion's speed and addons are completely overshadowed by the DW changes and changes to his Frenzy hit categorization.
-
Metas are effective... but not necessarily fun.
My survivor build is: Plunderer's, Stake Out, Head On, and one random perk of my choice (usually inner strength, but can be Adrenaline, DS, BT or Botany Knowledge). Not the meta. But I find it way more fun, especially since nobody expects it, it gives me the option of new tactics, and it helps with a certain playstyle. It helps with everything... but it has a glaring weakness: That being stealth killers in general.
Killer build: BBQ, Ruin, then two other perks. I run BBQ for the points and info, and Ruin to help with distracting survivors early game. However, I don't rely on them, or rather, I don't want to rely on Ruin. A perk that can be taken down so very easily can have the potential to be powerful... but it's RNG based. I hate that. I'd much rather use DH, but survivors always cleanse it before I can get it to work...
...and that's the main issue I have with all perks:
Too many perks are just weak or useless and not worth it.

@ASpazNamedSteve said:
I think the Frenzy buffs are more significant than people think.
Sure, you can run faster, but if there's no pressure with hitting someone with Frenzy. Frenzy is nonlethal, but DW is supposed to pressure survivors... however... with both nerfs to DW going live it makes them worse.
Sure, it gets rid of the Nemesis/BOP + Legion combo... but that should've been in the game regardless. Its punishing people for stunning a legion mid frenzy. That should be punished as a bad move, since a pallet stun is shorter than the Legions normal stun. Not only is it wasting a pallet, but its reducing the stun time of the killer.
Ultimately, I think that DW is the main problem with Legion. It can't be too strong, since survivors would complain, but it keeps Legion from being good.

I don't understand the logic of some comments. The OP is talking about their opinion on Legion changes, and saying they're super good, whilst literally everyone else is just insulting tf out of them. Is there a reason to be this aggressive?
If your still complaining about Legion then idk what to tell you, I've also got a bunch of 4ks in red ranks with the standard builds, and no I didn't have duration add ons, mainly cooldown ones, pins or mending time/filthy blades. But nope according to mob logic we are all just bad and so are the ppl we went up with :/
I mean... I haven't played Legion yet, but... it's not looking great for them. They essentially nerfed them twice heavily while buffing BT (meddling with DW) and it feels cheap. I wish they kept DW how it was before the patch, because that seemed balanced (and made sense. These changes are only to counter two perk additions/changes: Beast of Prey and Nemesis).
Some people could use a lot more tact though. But hey, it's the internet...

I'm definitely not saying it's "toxic" but how can you ever bodyblock in a way that isn't 'scummy to the killer?' You're basically just getting in the way to prevent them getting a hook, that's always going to feel awful for them if it works.
Sandbagging your other teammates. If you're doing it intentionally, then it directly helps the killer.

I can't plan around their perks if I can't see them, I can't do much if they all run item except equip a niche perk (that wouldn't help me win anyway) and the map is random but some can destroy your chances at killing like that damn farm.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/884667#Comment_884667
their quick for killers cause most people want to survive since it's easy, for survivors it's slower since few want to be killer. I highly doubt those numbers since if it takes that long they wouldn't want to be toxic and risk their queue time being longer. Also you're a survivor so it makes sense why you'd say all that. Killer is horrible under the right circumstances since you can only capitalize on mistakes and if they make few if any mistakes you've lost and they have the ability to be toxic in ways a killer can't match. So no, no one wants to be killer.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/884771#Comment_884771
I feel like they should be allowed to kill a survivor, if they're toxic it'll make em think twice and make the doors not open when the last survivor is alive and it'll make being killer funner.
Well, you should try making a plan they have to work around, not the other way around. I understand if people don't play the way I do though, since I play more strategically.
-
Looping wasn't really intended at the beginning of the game, but stayed because the devs ran with it.
Body blocking can be detrimental as well, it just depends on the situation. I don't see it as toxic unless they're absolutely screwing over a teammate or just being scummy to the killer.

The best way to win as a Killer is to have no plan. Just find Survivors and down them. It’s worked for me so far. I net 24k BP on average per game with no strategic plan. It’s really all about your hunting instincts and toxic perks.
That never really works at higher ranks. Most of them are more than willing to take advantage of you with their combined strategies, and it rarely turns out well for the killer.
But then, maybe running like a headless chicken after survivors works for you (with Spirit Fury/Enduring). Keep playing how you want to. But for most killers, you need an element of strategy to win.
-
It's all about having a plan beforehand... as well as a backup. If you're going into a game at higher ranks without one, then you'll have a bad time.
Survivors usually have a plan, killers should have one of their own. Granted, a lot of them may not work... but you have to try.
-
Im fine with how it is now. It helps with obsession perks at the beginning of the match and it helps know what to expect as a killer. (ex. certain people will be better than others.)
Survivors don't need to get this extra advantage, imo.

Oh- oh my god… I’m so sorry you had to go through that. As a survivor main, I don’t associate myself with those pricks.
If you want tips for Pig, you’re in luck, because it seems that 80% of killers main her (for some reason…)
I don’t play Pig or killer at all, but I can give you these tips:
The first person you down trap them.
save traps til the End Game and swiftly patrol the boxes. You don’t have to worry about the gates since trapped survivors can’t escape from them.
Only crouch if YOU’RE CERTAIN the survivors won’t see you. Like indoor maps are good for her.
Sorry I couldn’t give you more (or good) tips, I’m really bad with killer.
Um, I hate to say it, but the traps don't activate in endgame anymore by default. Saving them like that is a waste.
I would recommend whispers for Pig, just because when it lights up and you immediately crouch, they'll never hear the TR and will be surprised by you.
-
Why should survivors be rewarded for going to the toilet? I get what you are going for, but it doesn't make sense... if there was some way to compete for Auric cells or Iri shards within the match, then it might be enough of a time staller... something similar to the Clothing one.

Julie. People don't give enough credit to how incredibly tragic her story is, she did everything out of pure love for Frank, who twisted it into something evil and demented. That and she is constantly overshadowed by Suzie... That and her without her mask is just pure beauty to me. : P

I’m not defending short matches, that’s why I said add to both sides. Yes or no, would adding an objective to only survivor make them die a lot more? Obviously, yes. You seem to think that survivors would be happy as long as they are getting points and still can pip. That’s where I think you are wrong. The most important thing in the game will always be kills and escapes. When people are in a match and start to feel competitive, that’s what it boils down to in the end. Are you saying if the killer pipping system were changed, and you could possibly consistently pip at all ranks without kills, you’d be fine with just getting 1 kill a game? No way you are happy with pts and pips. Youd want kills. Survivors want escapes. That’s why it has to be balanced. An additional objective to only survivor very clearly throws that totally out of wack. That’s why queues would be out of hand, as with the survivor side constantly losing they will either switch to killer or just stop playing.
Well, it's already hard enough for a killer to earn their one objective. Survival rates at higher ranks go up significantly due to easier mechanics and the time crunch the killer feels on their end.
People dont always keep track of escapes or kills, even though that's what the stated objective is. A survivor's goal is to do gens, evade the killer, and if possible, escape. Most survivors compete for points, since doing the objective and chases efficiently is the way to go... and it leaves many survivors salty about the matches when against killers better than them. It's why I usually don't consider the game a win unless I am able to complete one specific action or something, like head on the killer at least once for example.
As for the killer, the killer has to stop survivors from escaping. They do this primarily through stopping gens. However, a killer doesn't always consider it a win if they get a 4k. Sometimes they consider it a win if they reach other goals, like getting moris with DH, or executing a certain strategy well, or seeing if addons work in a certain way. It's not just about kills.
Which brings me back to the point. Look, the game is supposed to reward you in three ways: Blood Points, XP, and Pips. XP is only gained through playtime, so you can essentially ignore that. Bloodpoints are competed for by survivors and are used to make characters better, give the character more options (perks, addons, and offerings) or help go for the prestige cosmetics.
Pips are the only indication of skill in the game. Sure, you can have invested lots of BPs, but you can still be not very good with certain parts of the game. So, Pips are you show a players skill within the current season. The game actively punishes the killers for doing too well or going against survivors that are too good/coordinated to win against. It also punishes killers for survivors dcing as well. So, by giving survivors a second objective, they help killers get momentum going, since they're the ones on the clock, not the survivors. Survivors gameplay has to become more skill based as well, since there are many survivors who do not deserve the rank they're at.
-
Because it requires intelligent play. Most killers will not camp anyway, and even if they use insidious/ stealth, it takes them a while to get out of it and actually catch the person (exception of GF, but he cant camp with his stealth anyway).
Its TR based because every killer must have their TR out to attack survivors.
If anything, its main counter is STBFL, since at 8 stacks, BT doesn't matter.
It's also tied to a status effect given by a killer, which I think was a massive mistake. Because in Buffing BT, they Nerfed Legion again.

umm...I’m not talking about just extending hook time, that would be the reaction of someone who probably camps. Just something to killer to offset an additional objective to survivor. Kill/escape rates clearly favor killer, so if longer games is the goal..why wouldn’t you add to both sides? Common sense. Unless.....as I’ve always assumed “I want longer games” is simply code for “I want more kills”.
No. That is not the case. Most people want longer games so they can actually have a chance to have fun. Fun in the challenge of catching people. I don't know why you're wanting to defend how short matches are, because if there were something else for survivors to do, you might find that interesting, and you might find yourself getting more points in a game than you would normally.
-

Do you want a secondary objective to make that 45 min ques for your easier 4ks?
Why would the que times be longer? Because there's more in a game to actually do for a survivor? Your argument doesn't make sense to me...
-
I agree that maybe Spirit needed some cues, but I still think the nerfs were a bit much.
But there is also a point where you should just leave them alone and harass someone else. Someone goading you into a chase wants it, and if they're trying to get your attention, then they're not rushing gens. You'll be taking 2 people off gens for the price of one.
It's all about playing smarter at higher ranks... and having decent perks. People often say: just run ruin, but its too weak most of the time, since they just rush it anyway (besides, sometimes I don't want to base my build on RNG, but my own skill). There needs to be some other objective or something so that they cant just blow through gens and ruin a game for one of the participants.

Using an apple is good, but I don't depend on Corrupt too much. Good survivors will instinctively not cleanse so as to deny it to Plague, which in turn makes Black Incense OP. If they do start to cleanse, I want them infected ASAP, so Vile Emetic. After they're all infected, or if we pass by a fountain in a chase, then I get the Corrupt.
I guess we'll disagree on that. Most survivors won't cleanse, even if you're using black incense... they need a little push.

140% move speed... why? Sure, early game it's ofset by the lack of being able to do anything, but late game you're just unbeatable.
His power seems weird too. He gets more visible the more pages you get, which seems bad for slender. If you can already hit people, why put pages down?
I think they are making the killer less powerful by gattering the pages, except for the very last one.
Survivors obssession- this should be a power, not a perk. Having every killer creating ilusions of themselves moving toward the survivor is waaaaay too good.
Horror's past- ok...but why can't they move? and how long until it activates?
Haunting shadows- this is cool. Could probably be the basis for another killer...XD
Understanding- busted. Specially against killers like billy that is required to bluff the chainsaw sometimes.
Record- so...worse small game and worse map?
Pain of loss- this has the potential to be so broken...XD
You're ignoring his traps too.
140 movement speed is nessisary for early game preparation.
He can only hit people through hallucinations, so being able to attack in multiple ways would only be a benefit for the killer. Keep in mind he can still teleport to hallucinations with more pages.
Not really. It only happens under certain conditions... same with Horror's Past.
Haunting Shadows is in the same vein as Ruin. I wouldn't want it as a separate killer.
I would nerf maps accordingly to make them in line with cameras, such as unable to see traps, or show the traps positions when mapped, not changing.
Not really. You can only use the Endurance effect once per chase, and you have to be really close to the survivor who got sacrificed to get the tokens.

Does he slow down when he's able to attack?
He has to teleport to hallucinations to attack survivors (similar to a Hag teleport) with less than 4 pages (they also spawn less frequently when survivors have less pages). However, they suffer a major slowdown on all action speeds if they don't collect pages.
