I mean, some people physically can't play without Shadowborn or they'll get sick. They have to waste a perk slot in order to play. I personally can't play Nurse, Legion, Billy, Demo or Oni without Shadowborn (don't own the latter two but I played on PTB).

Well... again, I defer to others since I'm fine with both options. That's all.

  • I'd say you're a veteran if you've eventually reached the same amount of skill as the top players. Or what @TheHoodiedOne said about this.

  • I don't know the answer to this. I'm fine with either way, tbh.

Unless Shadowborn is fundamentally changed, similar with M&A, I don't think they should be just because of those perks being made less useful (or pointless in Shadowborn's case).

If you think DS is as big of a problem as Forever Freddy, you might need to be stunned for 5 seconds. Even in red ranks there can be games where there isn't even an obsession.

I think he's pointing out how abusable DS is, it shouldn't matter what killer they play.

  • I think limiting how people play is a bad idea. However, I think giving some of those perks overall nerfs would be a far more elegant idea than yours... like making DS less abusable, for instance.

I can tell I'll have fun talking to you in other discussions people post.(Not sarcasm btw, it just looks like that)

Lol. I try to be fun... even with all this lovecraftian horror about. XD

  • My biggest chain was 8 hits in one Frenzy.

  • I think most people would want OG Freddy. He had so much character to him and there would've been a lot of good cosmetic ideas for that version...

It's gonna be like that giant red apple, you bite into it and then you know everything about the universe we live in.

This will be me when I get the last lore entries:

    rescued-blind-owl-zeus-fb5__700.jpg

I will have all the knowledge of the universe in the palm of my hand...

Yes, we still have yet to get the Revelations section of the lore.

Exactly. I can't wait to get into that juicy lore!

YES! I forgot about him! It doesn't help that when I face him in game, all I see is a giant deformed puppy. I just can't get scared. It's worse when he nods his head, it makes me want to pet him.

    Like Dart all over again...

Then again, all Samination voices are great. But I will agree that Trapper's is best. : D

  • I'm already a P3 R1 Julie main. How have I missed this? : D

  • There is one last set of lore entries in Level 4... we might learn more by then... then again, it might not fully be explained with this Tome. After all, this is essentially Chapter 1... setting up the characters of this novel a bit more clearly... At least the one with real impact.

We've learned much about the Entity that we didn't before. How it selects from worlds that are ignorant of its' kind, that there are potentially others like it, and that it behaves more like a feral animal than any sentient being. There may be more in each Tome until we can potentially see an end. After all, they want this game to last 7 years yet...

Saminations Parody of Dbd has ruined me. Every time I think of a character, I instantly hear the voices that Samination used for them. I especially love their Dwight, Claudette, Trapper(the best), and Wraith.

Demogorgon's voice is hilarious as well. XD

  • I don't think so... just because that'd mean that they're of sound mind, which I don't think the Entity would approve of. Unless for effect.

Ash has seen so much that he probably doesn't have as much mental strain.

Plague is just going through the rituals, so it's not like she's broken as much mentally.

Bill also speaks too... asking ''Why...?'' every so often... but he's pretty much been through hell, so he might have the mental fortitude...

  • I have such a lack of empathy for people I don't care about... and it's not even funny. I could probably be coaxed into doing that similar to Legion or GF. Wouldn't even need further persuasion like Trapper...

  • Well, I think it would be cool... but then, not every cosmetic would be able to have that, since the way they made them is that they remade that with every bloodstain, so it'd be a lot of work doing that for every single cosmetic. At least, that's what I've read from a similar question before.

  • You know, you're absolutely right. A perk that has 8 counters/weaknesses absolutely needs more.

    1. Lockers
    2. Hiding behind a gen
    3. Distortion
    4. Being within the TR
    5. Sole Survivor
    6. Juking one way then going another (misdirection).
    7. It's a limited effect you can only use 12 times.
    8. Some killer powers don't work with Auras (Spirit)

Let's nerf it because it's too strong. That's a sound argument right there. Maybe buff distortion to be something other than an anti-bbq perk? Maybe that, instead of nerfing an already limited perk.

BTW, if BBQ only worked 4 times, you'd find killers more likely to camp, because it encourages killers to go away from the hook.

This is the only asymmetrical game worth playing. Despite the fact that the community doesn't seem to known what that word means.

Some of us don't know what it means... However, some of us actually want balance...

  • I found it through Achievement Hunter, and joined when clown was released. What drew me in was the promise of being a powerful killer hunting survivors through the woods... but then I joined and found it very different when I got higher in rank.

Then Legion came out and I like being a stabby little angsty teen running through the woods...

  • I am on level 60 atm. I played everyday, but not religiously.

  • Im just going to repeat what I've said before... Sure Legion is faster, however... their buff is an illusion:

That Legion now is better than previous Legion.

The changes to the DW completely overshadow the speed changes. Seperate them, and they don't seem like a fair comparison. Legion being faster should be a good change, especially at the small cost of mending times...

...but mending is Legion's only stalling mechanism on the basekit. Sure, 20 seconds mending (maximum with both blades pre change) may have been a bit much, but those addons together abandon the utility of others, like the Sketchbook's extra range or the Iri button's information + utility. It sacrifices a better Legion for a gimmick. And this gimmick is what the Dev's used to justify this first change. That and they wanted to buff BT. Two weak reasons by themselves.

The second DW change is a bit more... reactionary... I'm of course referring to the DW timer not going down while running change. This is due to them not testing Nemesis or BOP with Legion. I thought it would be a wonderful addition. It would punish survivors for doing two things:

    1. Pallet stunning a frenzied Legion. This is already a bad idea since legion's stun from Frenzy is longer than a pallet stun. Nemesis just punishes them further. They fully deserve that countdown. Heck, right now, DW is worse than Pig's RBTs.
    2. Drawing out a chase with a Legion. It punishes survivors for giving Legion the Frenzy hit on them, then continuing to be chased for a long period of time... even though it's disadvantageous for them to wait out the timer. I get this isn't fun, but survivors keep wanting Legion Nerfed, even though they are terrible. Unfortunately, they need something to be better, and since you survivor mains all still want basekit to be bad, then Legion should get these perks as compensation. However, this is also a shadow buff to BT, since now their timer goes on forever if they keep running...

I know my opinion on these changes are... controversial... but I as a R1 P3 Legion know exactly how limited Legion is, and that survivor mains want to keep them that way.

Then you put these changes in context to higher ranks. The shorter mending time allows survivors to be on gens for longer, meaning more pressure for the Legion player, and it causing more problems for them in the long run.

I didn't mention the changes to on hit perks on Legion, but they're mainly small in scope. It means you can keep stacks if you Frenzy the Obsession with STBFL, but it was never the perfect perk for them anyway. Sure, you can't apply Third Seal or Sloppy on Frenzy hit, but you can still apply it with the second hit. It just means it takes slightly more time.... and makes the button changes relevant.

The button changes were meh to begin with. Blindness for Legion is worthless. Hemorrhage on Legion is pointless since blood (like scratches) is removed from the map when they frenzy, and Broken has such a small impact that you'd be better with other addons.

Iri Button is still the best addon, with either ruler or Sketchbook addons. They buffed the Mischief list, but it so small a buff it doesn't matter. Same with Sketchbook but Sketchbook was good before. IDK why they nerfed Mural sketch, it's not a good addon to begin with...

Overall... Legion got hit hard because of beHavior's poor planning with the Oblivious perks.

TL:DR: The buffs to Legion's speed and addons are completely overshadowed by the DW changes and changes to his Frenzy hit categorization.

The speed buff is superficial. The DW timer changes are absolutely nerfs. Its forcing me to bring one blade addon to get the same amount of pressure that old Legion used to...

Nurse's is situational but only good on 2 specific types of killers, stealth and small terror radius. Otherwise a waste of a perk slot because no one will heal in the terror radius people would expect nurses if you go straight to them while they're healing

Ruin being a Hex perk plays a role with it being good but bad, not to mention there's other key aspects that make the perk inconsistent: 80s to fully repair a gen, skill checks having an 8% chance of occuring & it only affect people that can't be hit greats.

Bamboozle is fine but a dead perk in today's meta/current state of the game.

Sloppy is fine but I belive it doesn't actually add the 4 seconds to healing but barely even noticeable.

Thantophobia is weak not because killing survivors reduces the effectiveness of the perk but that you can't injured everyone quickly or keep them injured for a decent period of time unless you're the Legion or Plague, you need to combo the perk with either Sloppy or DL just so you can use the perk.

You'd be surprised by how many times I've seen survivors with nurse's because they continue to heal regardless.

I think you're ignoring that the 8% chance is for EVERY SECOND. People could get 10 within that 80 seconds of gen time, and if they're not good with it, will extend it greatly. But as you point out, high ranks ignore this. I would rather skill checks become more difficult the higher rank you are, but that wouldn't help the deranking situation right now.

Bamboozle can still be used well. It's especially effective on coldwind maps.

Sloppy's only use is to stall time. Time is your most important ally as a killer. Either you are on the clock, or you force survivors to be.

Thana is good on Legion and Plague. Sure. That is true. However, you can make it good on others too. Oni, for instance, works well with Thana because of getting blood orbs efficiently by hitting multiple people. And it is a weakness that dead people don't count toward the slowdown called Thanatophobia: The fear of Death. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Isn't that the nature of video games? Some people are just better than you. It be like that sometimes. A lot of times, in my case.

The killer should have the power to at least stop one gen from getting done before you can get to it...

Sure, some killers I'm bad at compared to others, but even with killers I'm good with it's a real slog even if you play optimally.

  • Nurse's is fine right now.

I think Ruin is only weakness is because it's a hex perk. Look at Huntress' Lullaby and tell me that deserves to be a Hex.

    Unrelenting needs something more.

I don't know why Enduring was changed to not be affected by DS, it makes it only worth it with Spirit Fury. I would be fine with the change.

    Bamboozle's fine right now.

    Sloppy's fine right now.

Thana's only weak because killing survivors makes the perk weaker.

Surge absolutely needs a buff. The explosion does nothing and it only does 8% regression on activation.

  • I read it like you avoid giving hits to BT. Not the way I wrote. My fault there. XP

The only difference between "aura reading, wallhacks, true sight, etc" is the name. They all let you see through a wall or solid object so call it whatever you wish. You two are arguing the same thing.

The difference is one is inferred to be a form of cheating that is unfair. Auras are not unfair.

you can "flick" if you have the capacity to. it's called max or high sensitivity and knowing how responsive your controller is. if you know how long it takes to 180 you can 180. if you know how long it takes to 90 you can 90 and so on as well.. it's purely muscle memory just like with mouse an keyboard. speak for yourself when talking about how hard it is to do something on controller.

He still is incredibly weak in other areas.

Yup. Wallhacks come standard in most games these days. There's especially tons of wallhacks in this game. Wallhack wraith, wallhack pig, etc etc.

    @Desolate_Sands said:

Oh and I forgot about the worst one of all, wallhack myers.

    Ok then...

Do you consider Survivor perks like Alert or Object of Obsession to be ''wallhacks'' too?

Each of those have significant drawbacks/restrictions:

Nurse's calling: have to be close, and they have to be healing.

BBQ: only 4 seconds of auras, and has to be 40 m or more from you. They also only trigger from a hook.

Alert: See the killer when they break something.

Object: Has to be outside the TR and looking at the killer. They can also see you.

Keys only have 10 seconds (green and purple) and require addons to function. They need to have the right ones put on for the desired effect. Red keys can give 30 seconds. All within ranges specified on the addons.

Green keys don't naturally spawn in chests with the addons unless you have the Ace perk: Ace in the Hole. Even then it's random.

Just escape with the key. Next game toss some add ons and bring it with you.

You can't open the hatch with a broken key...

  • I think he is very, very weak on Console. He can't really do anything against competent survivors in the higher ranks, and he applies no pressure at early game. His power can even be a hindrance if you try to use it to down in one hit. It's good for getting rid of pallets, but even then I think the cooldown is too long, his weaknesses on Console considered.

Note: on console, he doesn't have the flick that he does on PC, so that means his Strike is easy to dodge for survivors. I've only been able to down people with his Dash, but even then it's 1/3 chance. This is at rank 1.

  • @YaiPa said:

Billy is stronger in early game, as long as the game progresses Oni becomes stronger. Still, getting the first two hits with a powerless killer is not so easy. Also you need to change the way you play against Oni, like avoiding free bt tank hits.

He actually gets free blood with a BT hit, so I'm not sure you're correct about that. He gets almost half his power by hit someone who doesn't go down...

  • He needs a buff on Consoles. He is garbage on there... because he can't actually do that flick he can do on PC. He also is very loud and noticeable, so it's not like he has much going for him.

  • Legions speed is a decent buff... but the negatives outweigh the positives in my opinion. I'm just going to leave a quote of something I posted a few days ago because I don't want to repeat myself... This is my opinion on new Legion.

That Legion now is better than previous Legion.

  • If only my chaser emblem didn't screw me one game... I would've had it...

  • I think the right way to balance DS is simple:

    1. Deactivate it when another survivor is hooked.
    2. Have a faster tick down time when:
      1. in a locker
      2. working on a gen
      3. healed at full health

Fun fact, the reason Oni is so much worse on console is due to poor optimisation and the existence of a controller preventing the nice easy flick. It has literally nothing to do with survivors wanting easy games and oni being nerfed; it's like Nurse all over again.

"One side don't show a want for balance"/"I know what side they're more likely to listen to" you've literally just admitted that you're more biased towards killers ("I'm more sympathetic to killer players")?

I never said that he was nerfed. I was pointing out how bad he is.

Two, I am. But I can understand both sides. However, just because I'm more killer sided doesn't mean I won't support survivor buffs if they're warranted. Right now? They're not. If anything, some survivor perks either need nerfs, or others need buffs to compete. I like what they did with Kindred, for instance.

  • None, to be honest.

The ability to see the aura of a hex perk at the start? That is unbelievably broken. Unfun for the killer, but even easier mode for the survivor.

Killer footprints... unless they fade over time, pointless.

No idea what you mean by those last two though.

  • I love just being unable to get to the other side of the map without a gen popping right as I get there. Fun times.

In all seriousness, some killers can't do anything against a competent team, especially one on coms. This is including the Oni (at least on console).

  • Well, but one side don't show a want for balance in this game but instead want easy wins. I wish it were not the case and the game could be made into something fun, but those people just ruin it. They're the same ones that loved to abuse certain things before that got changed.

I play both sides and its infuriating to see this behavior on each side. I just want each killer to be viable at higher ranks... but then I see what Oni's like on console and it just reminds me what side they're more likely to listen to... : /

Ultimately, I'm more sympathetic to killer players, but I see where both ''sides'' are on issues. I may have an opinion about them... but that's what discussion's for.

  • This I have to dispute...

    1. Break up the paragraph. Its hard to read.
    2. Oni is terrible on Console compared to both of those. He needs major buffs or a rework to even be playable on Console high ranks. His kit is atrocious. His dash can be good, but his strike is so clumsy I find myself disregarding his one shot for more consistent hits. Survivors on console can easily avoid it, since there is no flick on his swing on console. Myers at least can turn with his instadown, and Billy can too. I don't know what beHavior was thinking with not having it on Console... he is low tier, but has the potential to be higher if they change his kit slightly...
  • Keys can be fine... they just need more skilled use. Then again, Survivor needs an overhaul as a whole... playing as Oni in red ranks just shows how strong they are.

Nerfing DS further isn't a good idea. Plus, the only nerf would be the timer and stun duration.

I'm more in line with the idea of making it so DS deactivates if another is hooked first. That way it keeps it in line with anti tunneling. That or when they start another action (ie, locker hiding, gen work, or healing) the timer goes down faster since they've had time to get away from the killer and work on pressuring them. That would be a nerf to make it more balanced.

  • @Khorzad said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/894264#Comment_894264

Where do they confirm that they are the first? Because I remember that the lore implied the opposite, that they are no longer their own person: Their dialogue is always cited as Legion and they talk about themselves in plural:

"There's no getting out of this now. We're too good at it." — The Legion

"Smartasses get killed. We always see to that." — The Legion

"This is no place for cowards." — The Legion

There is no running away from The Legion.

There is no need to hide. We have the strength of numbers.

That infers that they're referring to multiple, yes, but it doesn't say anything about if they're one being or multiple. I think it's the latter, because that would make more sense to me.

  • @Khorzad said:

I don’t think that all killers are mindless killing machines, they have shown the ability to give some kind of mercy to survivors depending on the occasion (Clown and Pig), so I think it could happen depending on the Killer and the circumstances of the encounter, but it would be a very rare thing to happen and the Entity, at best, would probably allow it to happen one time to feed on that hope, forcing the killer to do it if they meet a second time.

In the current roster, the Killers that could have the free will and human minds are too evil to care (Myers,Clown,Ghostface,Freddy,Doctor) and others are too inhuman, mentally broken or dependant on the Entity to do it (Hillbilly,Leatherface,Demogorgon,Spirit,Hag,Plague,Trapper, Nurse). So I think that the most likely to do it are:

Oni: Kazan has shown to not have any love for the Entity, knowing that he is being manipulated, has shown to remember things from his past and with his respect and admiration for his family, unless he is blinded by rage, I don’t think that he would kill a family member close to him (again), like his son for example.

Legion:They are difficult case, because we don’t really know a lot about their mental state, as they could be mentally (and even physically) fused into one, with no identity left but the Legion, or they are still their own individual beings, that have become addicted to the adredaline of hunting and killing. In the first case, no chance, but in the second, there could be a chance, depending on what member of the gang.

Pig:She already did to a stranger once, and I think that Amanda wouldn’t attack someone like John Kramer.

Huntress:She doesn’t kills on purpose little girls and I don’t see her hunting her own mother if she were to meet her.

Wraith: He has shown to have a lot of self-hatred and be ashamed of what he did in life, so I think he has enough humanity in him to not kill someone close to him.

Legion's been shown to be the latter, I think, but I think they made a huge missed opportunity by not letting them have other members as ambushes.

1 … 32 33 34 35 36 … 73
