If I have none I like, I'll burn useless ones. You give me a slot, I put something in it.
What about you?
I don't level the survivors I use anymore....All perks unlocked.
I generally don't run items (my games are easy enough - I usually only use a toolbox or medkit with Built to Last for challenges).
Whenever I need extra BP, I'll use offerings (IE trying to level up a Killer/Surv for new perks), but generally avoid doing so on my survivors.

It happens some times to me. Had SWF yesterday and every time I slugged someone the rest of the team would run over and tbag and click their flashlight on the slugged survivor. They never tired to stop me hooking. Got a laugh out of it.
Though most of the time, it's like what you wrote. If I'm trying to do a challenge or just my last game for the day and I cant be bothered. Even when they have worked out I'm not a threat they will still slam gens and leave. Though I think some of it is just no awareness. The other day had a TTV player in one of my friendly games. I re-watched the footage and the whole time the TTV player was saying stuff like "This killer is so bad, they don't know what they are doing" etc. No awareness at all that maybe I wasn't trying to kill.
Don't worry - they'd be saying the same thing regardless of whether you killed them or not.

Id find it fun. There are a ton of useless perks but theres also a lot of good perks. They just get over shadowed by the meta.
Agreed.
Part of the reason I find Solo fun is because of the randomness.
Always boggles my mind that people want every game to be the same/a cake walk.
-
@SMitchell8 said:
Would anyone like to see a game mode or an event in which players are given 4 random perks at the start of the match? Getting people out of there comfort zone isn't a bad idea and it would give rarely used perks an appearance which work for both parties. Not a game changing suggestion but it would be a little something different during an anniversary or Halloween event perhaps.
Random perks would be pretty funzo.
There's no reason that the game shouldn't, at the very least, have a way to save favorite builds/randomize builds.

It's really worth it for the ending alone - Don't spoil it before hand.

Why the hell did you even create this forum thread if you don't want to listen or understand.
Everyone says: don't destroy totems because of COH or Pentimento. Just remember where the totems are, maybe the killer doesn't even have NoED.
You: But I want and will do totems.
This post is particularly amusing given the title of the thread.

@ukenicky said:
You can do literally everything to give the killer incentive to leave a hooked survivor but as long as someone wants to camp they will.
Agreed.
If a powerful effect is universally gained upon unhooking at no cost (even if it is not extremely detrimental), it's only going to further justify the reason for camping in some players' minds.

i got bored of killer and wanted to play surv for a change (bought all the dlc and played all the killers for like 5 days or less) and my first game i get a myers who i looped for maybe 3+ mins maybe less and then this dude just started face camping me for no reason.
no tbagging or any bm was done i guess i was too good and he got mad? i decided to try to get off the hook since 2 tm were on the other side of the map and 1 tried to get me off but got grabbed and put down.
i NEVER camp on first hook and avoid using camping perks unless they have a reason but they are mostly useless aka like monstress shrime which idk why it is a thing but in gen camping on first hook is SO OUT THERE.
next time i will just wait for my tm to get me but i was thinking whats the point since hes just gonna face camp everyone and decided to try to unhook myself.
like this is just so so weird man he was so weird for doing this on first hook it just makes no sense why people do this but idc since he gets no bp and no pips so hes just wasting his time unless he is trolling and doing this on purpose but i think you depip so idk why this is a thing tbh.
i just could not believe this just camped me on first hook when i am so bad on surv and just got lucky to loop for so long.
You not camping in YOUR games has no bearing on anyone else that plays killer.
If you can loop them for 3+ minutes, why are they going to let you go/give you free reign to do gens/bodyblock/etc?
It's lose-lose for them regardless of whether they decide to camp you or not - This person just decided to end the game with one kill instead of zero.
If you're solo and you don't want to risk getting camped, sometime you need to try and force aggro onto someone else after an extended period of time - Sometimes it works, sometimes you're camped.

Yeah, this is a concern of mine as well. The Stranger things part of it comes at no extra cost, so the devs can't exactly make money off of it directly. Instead, they're having a Free Weekend as well as a 50% sale on the game in conjunction with the mission going live. I'm just hoping that Netflix will get greedy and offer the license again to promote the Season.
I don't know what it is, but FC6 was reallllly fun for me.
The story and build-up reallllllllllly misdirects into one of the best/most brutal endings I've seen in a while.
-
The FC6 crossover is not monetized in any way - It's a free mission.
-
It's in GamePass, granted, but was only free for one PS Plus rotation two years ago.
Either way, the game is still in the top percentile of games played across Steam/PSN/Xbox - the cost of the game wasn't the topic of discussion.
-
@EvilJoshy said:
And this is where someone links the steam charts and says "the games doing better than ever!!!". Despite all the numerous ways that data can be misinterpreted. The fact that theres login rewards, free weekends, we cant tell if a player was on for 1 min or 10 hours and we've no way of telling what side they play. I dont trust the charts as solid data that the game is better because the numbers are higher.
I dont care if the player basis is higher or lower than whenever. I feel its in a terrible state. Change my mind.
Game is constantly in the top percentile of games played across PS/Xbox consoles as well.

Out of 4 games I did bones, 2 of them blamed me for wasting time and 1 told me I was trash.
I don't want to hear those things for doing smth others advised me to do.
I think it may be safe to wager that the people advising you to do bones and the toxic people in your actual games are not related in any way.

Circle of Healing comes from a single survivor - Mikaela
Mikaela was created by BHVR - All revenue from her sales goes straight to BHVR as there is no third party to pay.
CoH will remain unchanged for now, and will most likely have further nerfs in the future after sales die down.
There is no real way to claim developer ignorance or anything - They 100% know, but there are other 'prioritie$.'

Yep and then we get survivors complaining about how killer camp and tunnel too much. I’m fine keeping CoH the way it is, but I am going to camp and tunnel the **** out of survivors if it’s used in a match. More fun for everyone!
I don't consider anyone's feelings when I'm making the correct/best play.
-
Sometimes you need to camp/tunnel people out of the game in these scenarios.

You see, it should be but sometimes (dunno if it's server related or what) there's a couple second window where you can use it before it becomes inactive. It's also been that way for awhile now, since at least 2020. Multiple bug reports on it and everything. Because BHVR.
Good to know - Never noticed it.

i agree i used to run iron will and still do i find it a good perks which sometimes even let me escape chases...
The idea of a pekr countering a killer. I dont think a perk should counter a killer. Spine chill does kind off counter stealth but you can walk backwards or sideways to them... Iron will doesnt even counter spirit... you can see scratch marks and grass moving.
spinechill is a boring perk becasue you can play really shady and laid back making games takes ages if you want. the only real killer i think getting affected by spine chill in a super negative way is ghostface / myers since they have to look at you for a long period of time
Iron Will is definitely one of the best perks in the game (hence its pick rate).
It also combos perfectly well with Dead Hard allowing you to have 2 health states while injured w/o making sounds - I have no trouble believing it helped you escape chases!

Why are the devs fixing it if there is nothing that needs to be fixed?
Why did they zero in on a particular aspect of the perk that they said is problematic?
Geez, I don't know who to believe :(

Unironically, Onryo is better at that than Huntress.

Look, I get you don't like NOED, but since you're always facing "bad Killers" that barely get Hooks before EGC, can't you just do bones?
I'd suggest looking at their posts.
5000 hours on Survivor is honestly as probable as them having 0 hours on Killer, judging from the bias dripping in every reply.
You're wasting your keystrokes and time.
-
A high mobility killer that camps someone out of the game is still a high mobility killer for the rest of the match.

I don't think DBD was ever a Games With Gold game but it was given out for free on PS4.
Probably right!
I may have confused it with an XBL free weekend or something.
-
@Pulsar said:
I think that means Steam players make up like 5% of the total playerbase.
That seems a little suspicious.
If there's 50k people on at max peak during the day, that means there are tens of thousands of people dropping in/out on an hourly basis...It's obviously not the same people logged in consistently.
Console probably still outweighs them, though, as it has been given away on XBL, Game Pass, PS+, etc...
EGS is probably the lowest of the two (despite the giveaway), given the brief window it was available for free.

Pretty easy solution to this:
The articles all explicitly state that this information came directly from Behavior.
As such, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for clarification to avoid possible misinformation.
@MandyTalk or a different mod - If you could clarify? Sorry for the tag, but it is completely related to information that is stated to come directly from BHVR.

I'm...reluctant, as some of these sites feel a bit unsafe. Take a sentence from the article and paste it into Google and you'll see what I mean.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2856194#Comment_2856194
I'm not sure. My guess is that the 'up to' phrasing is the key aspect here.
I did.
"The landmark was reached recently as Dead by Daylight is now available on a wide selection of platforms, including the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), and even Google Stadia. Behavior Interactive also confirmed that Dead by Daylight has up to two million players logging in every day."

There's something...a bit sus about that article, looking a bit deeper.
None of the bigger gaming sites are reporting on it, and the handful that are, are all obscure clickbait/tagfarm sites and most have the exact same article copy+pasted verbatim, or very slight variations on it.
What is interesting is that some sites parse this as 'up to 2 million', which implies that this was the absolute peak not an every day occurrence.
Without seeing the alleged email, there's no way to tell what's going on here.
Can I get some links to the copy/pasted articles?
I'd like to read them.

If they pop CoH, I just take that as a signal to tunnel.
But for Plague, I love her to bits. However, she's plagued (see what I did there?) by issues, some of which you mentioned. My biggest, though, is the server side validation. I know I hit them with puke, in either form, yet due to a server hiccup, it doesn't count. Normally, this happens when I need it the most. It's not a rare thing either, which just irritates me.
Second, the dc'ing I get. Survivors know that Plague is underplayed, so they figure the five minute timer is better than facing her, knowing that they won't face her again for awhile. It was especially evident with her recent QoL changes. I just put her away, now that Artist is here. Will go back to her soon, though. i miss her.
A lot of people just:

Ahhh I was gonna say thats a FAT epic combo.
Me personally I don't like wasting seconds on kicking gens, I'd probably run surge on top of that instead with Call of Brine. Maybe Tinker if I was really try harding on the gen regresison.
There are definitely a few combos to play around with :)
-

wait what? the regression auto triggers pgw?
No - If you are able to hit the same gen with PGTW, that's where the 40% value comes from.....If not, you have to 'split' the remaining 25% to a different gen.
Either way, every Scourge Hook pockets -40% in some form when they are run in tandem.
-
Came for the emotional/Us vs Them posts and was not disappointed.

@EntitySpawn said:

Well its not so much the camping and tunneling but the BM and hate for it.
Honestly they would be far better off just ignoring me and not committing, I can only do gens as fast as everyone else so they would have better time chasing others.
Or the next person can be 5x better than you were :P
-
@EntitySpawn said:
So i dont blame people and it honestly doesnt bother me as I understand its annoying but...
If I'm accidentally placed in your lobby as a survivor and you arent my skill and I loop you for ages dont take it personally?
I dont do any actions to BM, I just play to the best of my ability and I'm not being toxic because I know how to loop I'm just not gonna give free hooks till the end.
I dont know if others get this but if you're ever miss placed and you loop a killer too long you become their whole obsession. They will camp, tunnel and BM you as if you did something wrong lol
Why wouldn't they try to camp you out when they catch you?
If you're that much ahead of them in terms of skill, you're just a free piece on the board until you're removed.
Edit - There is never an excuse for verbal/text abuse.

People actually use that thing considering how NOT guaranteed scourge hook spawns are?
It's probably one of the best regression perks in the game at the moment.
People often combine it with PGTW (knocks 40% off a single gen at best....splits 40% of a gen if necessary) or Dead Man's Switch (the scream forces survivors off - Currently niche/played primarily on mobile killers as it only gets 'surprise' use against solos...SWF needs to be pushed off once the perk is known).
