My fellow Killer mains outing themselves in a post meant for Survivors :x

It might explain them what are they doing wrong instead of all 4 dying on 1 hook and then blaming killer.

  • Just make it vise versa, restrict survivors from changing anything 20 sec before game starts and allow killer to adjust his build.

  • @theyenveeshay said:

Some of these responses give "I'm garbage at the game so I camp everyone to avoid learning how to actually play"

Camping is viable strat. Even strongest killers sometimes camp. It has nothing to do with common mistake like *oh my, it's a weak killer*. Camping usually works very well if u know all survivors are nearby. U literally have no reason to go away. So if u wan't to get rid of campers, for the God sake start doing gens and stop 3 man watch 1 hook guy dies.

  • Sorry but if i know there are 2-3 survivors nearby, i won't leave. It doesn't matter do u heal or not. It's all about survivors teamwork.

I play solo and I am very much broke on BP.

Also how would i be in a hurry? The fact i feel i can alt tab and watch some chill youtube means i'm very relaxed.

You are the one who is mad enough to make a forum post for having to wait 1 more minute.

Do you have a plane ticket? Are you in a hurry?

I'm not mad and it's not me who suggests people to hover mouse and press rdy once they are in lobby.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

Just like you said longmatchmaking times.

You really think people will stay in game for that long?

Incidently pro tip for all you all tabbers out there. You can hover your mouse over the dbd program and see when you found a lobby in a miniscreen while watching youtube or something

U have a plane ticket or something? I can spend my BP, talks with others, think about builds/items etc. Why are u in such a hurry?

  • @Ouro said:

Whats the point of having ranks if you don't get placed with others that are close to my rank?

This is the 4th game so far and every game has been abysmal because they don't seem to know what to do.

Before this new update I have never been placed with newbies unless I played with a friend who is of their same rank.

Grades refer to how much u play the game. It has nothing to do with your personal skill.

I always reach a certain point with twin were survivor keep viktor hostage for the entire duration. Im kinda getting tired of it and im tired of trowing game so i can use my power again anyone hace an idea what i can do for that issue

Look at it from opposite side. U 100% sure one who hold victor hostage does nothing. So by that time u can pressure other people.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

Because it's extremely annoying trying to solve the box but the chains keep attacking me forcing me to start over. Is this intentional become this I think should not be a thing.

That's why u have to play smart and search it before chain hunt starts.

  • @Gens_Before_Friends said:

Maybe I'm just seeing it more lately, but due to the advantage survivors can get by quick switching if survivors do not ready up by 6 seconds left. I leave the lobby.

I don't believe everyone is just quick switching at last second, so why are people joining lobbies even after the long matchmaking times just to not ready up? I only been able to get into a game maybe every 20-30 minutes because every lobby has someone not readying up.

Because I never know how much I need to wait, so I do side things until I get sound notification *game started*.

The problem with this being a "noncompetitive" PvP game is that it's not built like one. It's miserable to play survivor and be tunneled out early in the match. It's miserable to play killer and go against a team you can't even touch. If this game wants to be a fun noncompetitive experience, it needs a huge change to its mechanics. In DbD, when someone has a bad match, it's a really bad match. There are no safeguards in place to make sure everyone has fun, so as a "noncompetitive" PvP game, it's a failure.

I'm not sure it's possible to get a truly balanced asymmetrical game. In a 1v4, the four have to be weak solo and strong together, but for a lot of players being weak as a solo player feels crappy and it's difficult to play as a team when there's no communication. Worse, the game markets itself as "play as a team or be a lone wolf," so it's broken at a fundamental level. One lone wolf playing selfishly screws over the other three survivors. How can you possibly balance for that? Those three survivors are almost certainly not going to have a fun experience.

Yes, the devs should continue to try to balance it, but it's also important they accept that it can't be perfectly balanced and they need to look for other solutions to make sure their playerbase is having fun. A game isn't a good game if it's not fun, that's the whole point of its existence.

Then they need to change survivors win condition and remove key* mechanic so there won't be any lone wolf and all survivors benefit from working together. As for tunneling, it's a great tool to find out how bad teamwork is within survivor teams. Most of the survivors i met completely abandon dead on hook player unless they are Swf and then instead of admitting their mistakes blame killer. Or do body block before i even hook someone that's complete waste of time.

Can't say much about fun, it's definition varies from player to player, cause I'm having fun playing a game where is all about skill. I rly enjoy feeling when i won not because I abused mechanic, but because i did good. But with lower tier killers it feels like they underperform so far and devs completely ignore it cause on average it's probably fine.

Honestly, I'm in a bad mood and have an intense burning hatred towards the game at the moment. So, if you have no ideas, then I guess this game will stay an unbalanced mess forever. Sucks for anyone playing it.

No need to apologize, Im mad currently too. My suggestion is complicated and i doubt devs will make it live.

If they someday announce dbd as competitive game they need to balance it around strongest players and reveal mmr and players escape/kill/chase etc rate so players realise what should they work on. In short make statistics about everything, and balance game accordingly. If players play only around 7 perks, then there definitely a problem. If killers have no chance vs decent swf, then they need to be buffed accordingly.

But if they don't have such a goal, there's no point in discussing anything. Noncompetitive pvp game sounds like a joke.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

Anything you do to make the game more difficult for SWF would be seen as punishment. BHVR is not going to punish people for playing with their friends. If you get two or three SWF players who are actually not gods at the game, any solo survivors with them will get punished even more than they already do.

They have to buff solo survivors and then buff killers to compensate. BHVR has said they won't punish people for playing with friends. Even something as small as giving solos a BP boost was suggested and the response was that it would be punishing SWF because solos are getting a benefit that SWF is not. BHVR isn't going to nerf SWF, and any buff would have to be universal among survivors. So, again, solo survivors have to be buffed so that they're able to play at the same level as SWF, and then killers have to be buffed in return.

Name me a SoloQ buff that won't make swf even stronger. Even with ping system or inbuilt kindred, swf coordination just benefits from it.

I understand how you feel. Players can directly click to exit if they want, but disconnection cannot be controlled. It makes no sense to hold players accountable for things they cannot control. And the penalty for disconnection is too high.

It makes sense. U come to play with others and throw the game. Don't want to play, don't launch the game. Stop acting like 8 years old child that's completely irresponsible.

Dc punishment should be and it should be strong enough do people think twice before quiting.

  • If u want to completely destoy swf and make them back to SoloQ, swf should not get any Bp or pip by playing together.

Otherwise we need complete game tuning and balance rework around swf, assuming everyone is swf Vs killer.

So this discussion came up with my friends and i wondered what you forum peeps thought of it.

Latest chapter we had only a killer and now during the midchapter we are getting a survivor.

Would you like this to be the new formula? So instead of releasing new killers and survivors at the same time every 3 months alternate between killer and survivor every 1,5 months

    Yes? No? Why?

No. Your suggestion drags more attention to new content and forces it come faster while:

I want devs to stop releasing new killers and survivors at least for 6 months and focus on their game. There's no difference between survivors in playstyle it's just a skin and we have plenty of them. New killer might interest some people but we have enough who long time waits for some love.

    Also:

    • Blood web is outdated
    • Perks are still divided in tier list which is a waste of time
    • Map offerings is more like a joke and very survivor-sided.
    • There's still no Solo practice mode.
    • Not to mention hidden MMR system and barricade between survivor main and killer mains. And divided player base where some think it's casual game and want just everything to dominate no matter what, and gamers who want a proper competitive game.

For me new killers or survivors are somewhere on the bottom list.

If an Unpopular and probably the most unpicked Killer currently can 4K with no perks and add ons due to the majority of the Survivors player base are a bunch of potatoes. Any sane and competent developer will be careful of bringing buffs to Killers. There are probably a bunch of 4 Man SWFs out there getting absolutely rekt by a Legion.

As someone explained to me before, your rank has nothing to do with your MMR. If u meet 4 rank1 players it doesn't mean they are incredibly good. But i doubt u will win with 4K against multiple rank1 players in a row.

If they slapped my main I would probably react the same (mostly because she shouldn't be) but the changes aren't live yet. She was clearly OP so needed a change and a Spirit Main should know this. I will add I do have some sympathy because I feel they went a tad overboard. 24 meter phase notice was all that was needed.

It's not even live, no one knows how it will go and how it will affect good spirit killers. We can assume it's bad, but let's see how it goes first.

  • It's a member of Meta Slaves clan. They are currently on massive hysteria after spirit changes.

No one knows and its kind of trash that we have nothing to work off of. Hunt showdown has it and it works really well letting people know what scale of players there up against and without giving the exact details of how it rises or fall's creates a fun environment that you can hide from yourself if you find it annoying. The systems is new to public servers so we will have to see long term how it pan's out. But I hope once they have adjusted mmr that they be transparent what our score is. Elitism will always exist whether its your hours rank or highlights letting people know what caliber of opponent is ahead is important so it minimizes the feel's bad of getting stomped when you want to meme around.

Probably devs are afraid to finally announce Dbd as competitive because it will require multiple fixed and game tunings. I don't see any reason hiding mmr unless they are not sure in their goals.

  • @PNgamer said:

For example, there is a difference between a grade 1 player with 3000 MMR and a grade 1 player with 2000 MMR. We all know that grades have nothing to do with MMR, but symbolize something else. But I wonder why many people here talk about High and Low MMR all the time. None of you including me know that? Only BHVR knows that and just because you meet players who have less playing time or a low grade doesn't mean they are playing on Low MMR does it? I've played against people with 5000+ hours and they were sometimes worse than people with just 100 hours. I just don't understand what makes people claim they know what high/low MMR is.... I just don't get it.

When people see survivor goes down in like 10 sec they assume he isn't that good unless he was in dead zone. And when they see survivor wasted 1 min killer time, he is probably high mmr or going for it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/282216/dc-penalty-should-be-more-punishable

Well, you can have technical issues caused by dbd, which is then dumb to get punished for.

DC penalty can escalate to days, I don't know how long it takes to get lower tho.

So u want to let it go cause there is possibility that someday your game might crash?

I'm not asking banning them, which in some games they would get on multiple dc's, but asking to make dc penalty strong enough so players think twice before they throw a game for whatever reason they have.

  • So far not a single one. I'm only watching them on YT and curious mb it's server issue or something else.

I run BBQ, Pop, Surge and Thana and I'm doing decent in chases but the build still falls short to SBMM, my guess is that it's Thana that's not pulling through, so I need some help choosing a good replacement. Chase perk, slowdown or something else?

    I'm using:

    • Corrupt Intervention - I like it very much cause it buys me guaranteed 2 min gen defense (which i can't say about ruin, cause in my game it never last more than 3 min and usually goes of in 1st min so i don't run it) and forces survivors to move on my side. Also it pushes them to make mistakes, cause survivors usually greed on gens and leave me with 3 very close to each other gens in late game so it's easier to defend.
    • Pop - basic kick is very very weak, so i think it's a must have to pressure gens.
    • Thana - at least once in a game all 4 survivors are injured so it's a decent slowdown perk.
    • Nurses - while it's a gamble, it saved me so many times and help's me find survivors very fast.

It's not only map offering. There are 2 things survivors shouldn't be allowed to do. Offer map choice and hook distance. 4 hook distance offering guarantee killers life will be a pain no matter what u do. I'm very happy it's not meta.

You don't have to change anything before you fix gen rush and face camp, which the only two ######### in this game.

Keep ignoring the boring gameplay in high MMR.

Keep listening to baby survivors' rant.

Keep enjoying the superiority of no competitor game for now.

    Good luck.

If u know everything better than anyone maybe it's time to share it? Put some words and explain yourself.

  • This is 1st April Joke.

  • Iridescent doesn't guarantee player is good. U can hit iridescent by being potato that only repairs gens and saves others.

Let me explain u, to hit Iri rank u need on your game either 4 gold medals if u are average at everything or 2 Iri badges (let's assume it's gens and altruism) and 2 silver bagdes. and if u constantly escape (no matter how), unless u are dead on hook, u get better than silver badge.

So again being Iri rank player doesn't guarantee he is good one.

Interesting, so it's almost save to assume there was/is something going on with SBMM...

Gonna wait for more replies but it was really weird to play the game.

Wondering if it's a bug or if they've done it on purpose because Killers are complaining about SBMM being a sweat fest and the long queue times...

Probably they are testing numbers. Also im very curious about how exactly it works, cause i met some rank1 players who played like potatoes (which i dont understand cause to get rank1 your need constant wins or high winrate/escape rate) and right after met another rank1 players who were actually rly good and crushed me.

To be perfectly fair, this is an asymmetrical game. Equally skilled opponents is a death sentence for a game that heavily favors one side and this game has the problem both ways. At lower levels, killer is utterly broken, and at higher levels, survivor is completely overpowered. Hence why like 95% of people are complaining about it. Hard to find that sweet spot of people like me who enjoy both because the games are more balanced than before.

But he is not complaining about that, he's problem is he is good survivor that doesn't want to face strong killers. So he destroys his MMR.

Yeah, it's really healthy to play against a endless loop of nurses, blights and wraiths. I self sacrifice myself now over 20 times in a row to reduce my MMR.

Now I have again "healthy" games without this meta perks and can enjoy again. I wonder how long...

And what did u expect killers to do? Meet u with flowers? U play well they do same. When u play killer u expect getting some hooks and kills too right? Or u never thought about it?

I've been playing since 2017 and since then there has been games better than other ones but when the SBMM (Skill Based Matchmaking) update was deployed, the game was literally destroyed, for real, I know I'm not the only one getting a lot of hackers and sweaty sweaty gamers every single match and generatos popping every single second even if you are very good with a killer. Personally, I uninstalled DbD until this is removed or fixed, because I don't enjoy DbD anymore, It's a lot of sweat, pressure and hackers and maybe more bad things. I am very very good at killer and survivor but when I'm killer the gens pop instantly and when I'm survivor when somneone gets down, 0 gens are completed. I don't know why did they have to add this, to a casual game, there was absolutely no need to add this because it ruined the game, let's all admit it, DbD it's in its worst phase ever. Hopefully they fix it or remove it, till then, DbD will remain uninstalled in my library and in a lot of people's library. Goodbye, I won't see you in the fog...

Game finally become healthy. It's not clown fiesta now since u don't face babies and actually playing with +/- same skill level players. It's how PvP game has to be. Want to win = play well. I mostly playing survivor and my escape score skyrocket cause i finally play with decent survivors, and my killer expirience improved cause I'm actually learning how to play and facing good survivors not clown fiesta mentioned above.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2514317#Comment_2514317

It does take quite a while to change so much. Add-ons are pretty small and easy to overlook in the game, but there's a bunch of work behind the scenes that goes into updating them. I'll greatly simplify things, but you'd need to:

    • Figure out which add-ons need changes
    • Create new designs for those add-ons
    • Scope them to see how long they'll take to implement
    • Make the changes
    • Playtest the changes, re-iterate until they're in a good spot
    • QA the changes
    • Have everything localized
    • Ship the changes

Multiply that by up to 20 for each Killer, then multiply it by the number of Killers getting changes, and it quickly adds up to be a lot of work. Some simpler changes (like number tweaks) can be pretty quick and skip some steps, but some larger add-on changes can end up taking just as much time as a perk.

Though the real catch here is the scoping bit: Setting aside time for add-ons means taking time away from other features & balance changes that you'd probably want. Going absolutely wild on add-ons balancing would end up with less perk/Killer balancing, so it's important to strike a balance (no pun intended).

TL;DR: Simple on the surface, loads of work in practice.

Can u reveal about how u choose what should be changed? Is it killer win rates, survivors escape rates or are there any statistics on what perks/addons players use?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Dunno if the footstep dust is necessary but it's a good change overall. Same with pretty much everything else in the update.

On most of the maps u won't see dust, so i think it overrated nerf.

  • I think u overestimate Spirit nerf. She is still strong and good killers will still kill survivors, but phasing gamble was rly stupid mechanic and I'm happy now it's mind game not a guess contest.

  • @DaWeezerd said:

I did and he never ever said the word "unplayable" you're making ######### up at this point he just sorted killers based on their powers which is right thing because there's stronger and weaker killers but he never said they aren't viable he got 50 wins on blight and 50 wins on trapper aka same number of wins with one of strongest killers in game and with one of weakes if not the weakest killers in game

And yet u again missing the point. He had those 50-100 win streaks when it was Elo-hell and he could face an 1 hour baby while playing killer or u need exact dates here? Cause something happened before MMr (and most of his winsteaks were years ago) is insignificant now. With players close to his skill he sweats very much and now he is not going for any winstreak or so.

With the killers u said that aren't viable... So instead blaming devs and everyone else for ur lack of skills practice more complain less

Then go watch Otz making tier list and explaining why half the killers are unplayable against decent suvivors not to mention competetive teams.
