All these ideas make Black Box good. Let me make it be on the same power level with all recent ultra rare addons:
- Basic attacks no longer put survivors to sleep
- You cannot attack survivors that are awake
- When hitting a sleeping survivor, they wake up
- Interacting with a Dream Snare or Dream Pallet puts survivors to sleep
- Termendously increases the movement speed decrease from activating a Dream Snare (0.04 m/s)
- Survivors that activate a Dream Pallet are stunned for 0.3 seconds.
-
People should still keep in mind that this is data that started to be collected a long time ago.
Self care was pretty much mandatory back then, it was so, so useful. And it is still used, so I can see why it is up there.
People complain about NOED being so high. Keep in mind that, except Tinkerer, all slowdown perks are on p2p killers. This means that a lot of people may not have slowdown perks.
I, myself, use NOED on killers without slowdown perks. It is simply me saying "I don't own a tool to make the survivors do their objective slower, but I have a tool that makes my job easier if they finish their main one".

The only issue is that the game can't create players out of thin air. Aus servers don't have many players, even less in gray ranks.

I'm with you, the new Kate is so ugly.
I've always been sad about Kate since they changed her hair and P3 head, but now rather than bringing back some of what made her original design good they've gone and made her worse. They can see how she looks, I don't get why they'd feel that this update to her is an improvement.
Wdym? She looks just fine 😐

Why could I do that in the first place is the real question.

Yeah, people on mobile are going to miss the giant reminder, but still, the section is accessible, and you could still click on a moved discussion to read it, answer to it and then go to the 5.1.0 PTB Feedback section to see all the other posts
I myself went straight to the ptb feedback subforum, but I just pointed out that people from mobile will miss out on the reminder.

Now that sounds like a most people's problem
Don't put BHVR at fault because people don't know how to use a forum, because they can't do much about it, apart from I don't know, making it clear that there is a DEDICATED section for PTB feedbacks? Oh wait..I think I see something like that, tell me when you see it
There is nothing like that on the mobile version.

I've not played the remake, but did play the PC title when it came out, and I'm not 100% sure that the layout of both maps is identical. Either because it's been some time since I've played it, or they've made some changes, I'm not fully recognising everything.
As far as I know, they said it is pretty much identical. So far, with 20 votes, it seems like there's a 3:2 ratio when it comes with knowing the map. TBH, this should appear as a survey in the game, to see how much it was worth it to create such an awfull map.

RE went on sale over the summer on steam and this was likely a part of their marketing plan and I gotta say it worked on me. Not only are licensing agreements lucrative for Dead By Daylight and shift the fanbase / playerbase from X, Y, or Z, encouraging them to try Dead By Daylight- but also encourages Dead By Daylight players to pay attention to certain licenses outside the game and maybe support / affiliate with them.
I'm not going to lie- I bought Resident Evil 2 Remake & Resident Evil 3 Remake over the summer sale because the license showed up in Dead By Daylight. I've already sunk around 10 hrs on my first playthrough as Leon and now I'm starting over and playing through as Claire. I'll probably play again as both of them because it looks like there's a new game+ feature, which apparently changes the ending as well so I'll end up playing it a total of 4 times.
This is probably true for many other Dead By Daylight players as well who became interested or more interested in RE because of the chapter. Interested enough that they'd be willing to buy at least one title if not more. Or at the very least watch gameplay on Youtube or something, so search queries for Resident Evil probably spiked on google and related platforms.
And I'll also be honest I'm having a blast. Resident Evil 2 is definitely a quality game and I had a lot of fun playing through it on my first run- Leon is now an infinitely more interesting character to me now that I've experienced his story and I'm looking forward to finishing my playthrough as Claire, and I'm especially looking forward to Resident Evil 3 where I'll actually get to face Nemesis in his "natural habitat" so to speak. Also: Anybody who says or said Resident Evil that Resident Evil isn't true horror just flat out lied- I definitely freaked the ######### out my fair share during my first playthrough of RE2, and that tension is still there even in my second, the only difference is I know what I'm doing now.
The funny part is, I was able to finish the entirety of my first run of RE2 before I even played on Raccoon City a single time in Dead By Daylight- because they had disabled the map literally on release. Needless to say after spending that much time in the actual Raccoon City Police Department from RE2, I understand the map a LOT better than I would have otherwise just going in raw.
Also: Anybody who says or said Resident Evil that Resident Evil isn't true horror just flat out lied- I definitely freaked the [BAD WORD] out my fair share during my first playthrough of RE2, and that tension is still there even in my second, the only difference is I know what I'm doing now.
I only watched RE7 and RE8 (although I got bored and never finished the story; l left at the Heisenberg part, that one is truly boring if you ask me). However, from these two, the only thing that scared me was the baby creature from village. That ######### deserves an award for the scariest horror character to ever exist. Oh, and the Marguerite segment from 7 kinda scared me, but it was more of an anxiety, since I fear any kind of bug, except regular flies and ironically, mousquitos, which I should fear the most since they are the deadliest.
However, I do believe that the first games of the series were scary. Generaly, the oldest pieces from a series are the scariest. And this kinda applies to all the movies I've watched.
Speaking of this, isn't it kinda funny how all the old slasher franchises start off some psycho that kills a few people, and end up with rituals, resurrections and all kinds of magic stuff. Guess that's what happens when you run out of ideas for your movie 🤷🏽

Here are some scores that I would change:
- THE BOLDNESS CATEGORY IS RENAMED TO SELF-DEFENSE
- Cleansing totems will instead award points in the objective category rather than in self-defense
- Dropping pallets, stunning the killer, blinding the killer and escaping their grasp will also award points in the survival category, but only 10% from the self-defense value
- When saved by another survivor (from hook, heal etc) you will now recieve 350 points in the survival category.
- All actions from the survival and self-defense categories will also award 10% of their value in the objective category
-

Lmao you're pretty funny.
1. You literally asked if you are allowed to post people's names here in order to shame them. That is you breaking one of the most important rules of the forum.
2. The fact that your email looks like that helps us form an idea of what you are. It clearly shows me that you are immature and refuse to understand that camping and tunneling are valid strategies, with the current gen speeds you will anyway get your first hook at 2 gens remaining.
3. No one is anyways able to add anything productive anymore. You asked a question, it has been answered, no need for the discussion to go on. You are trying to justify yourself intending to break the rules, you don't even understand what people here are telling you. Someone literally posted you a screenshot of the rule you are trying to break and you tell them about the email and how you didn't censor the official's name. That's not what they meant. They literally answered your question.

that's ur opinion, but I'm probably guessing it's because u like to camp/tunnel. It's funny u guys aren't even reading my original post but feel the need to comment. I never said it was ban able. what I said was behaviour said the killer gets penalized for doing it.
So if I tell you that you sent a VERY immature email, you tell me that I like to camp/tunnel? Sorry, but this furtherer proves my point. I did read you original post and you were using the words of the employee to excuse naming and shaming fellow players.
You have to understand that while emailing an official, you have to keep a certain level of formality. Your email is far from that.

Yeah, I get that can be frustrating and idk why the Devs haven't allowed solo customs for map exploration(that's been requested for a long time), but this isn't the first game to have this issue.
At the end of the day, while it might be frustrating to learn, that doesn't mean the map is terrible; and throwing your hands up and saying "Im not going to play this," instead of just learning the map, is a bad way to handle this. The reality is, once people get enough time on it, they'll learn it naturally. Once people know the map, then we can have a discussion about whether it's good or bad. But I'm not going to listen to someone who played it twice say it sucks, just because "I couldn't find anything."
Just to clarify a bit, I'm not claiming this map is good. It played well the 3 times I played on it, but that's nowhere near enough to make a solid judgement, especially since most people don't know where they're going. My issue is that everyone is dumping on the map, imo, just based on their frustration from not understanding it and their solution is "I'll just DC," instead of bothering to learn it.
The fact that people can't navigate it for a good amount of time is a sign it is poorly made. No other map in the game leaves people walking around mindlessly trying to get somewhere. Spending 2 minutes to get somewhere on the map because of the labyrinth it is tells you how good the map is for this game.

I swear, man. Everyone's on here complaining that they're getting lost on RPD and that it's a labyrinth. You know what a solution for that is? Learning the map, like players do in any other game that requires map knowledge.
I don't get lost and I don't find it remotely confusing because I played RE2. Now you guys have the opportunity to learn the map, just like I did, except in DBD. Why are people acting like this map is impossible to learn? It's not.
I have created a poll to see how many actuay know the map.

Except that they have to also play the game while learning it. It is the first time ever people don't know how to navigate a map. All the other indoor maps we've got are bettee by a mile: if I want to move to that gen, I will just follow the coridors to it.
On RPD, however, you will face dead ends every time you want to go somewhere. I really don't get why it is so hard to see why everyone hates it.

And they also aren't meant to make your game feel like #########. Things like slug the last guy for a god knows reason is simply not necessary, it doesn't bring you a single advantage. It purely makes the other's game horrible and unfun.
Survivors arem't meant to be your friends either. They aren't supposed to stay in a place and let you catch them. They also are allowed to sit at the gate to consume your time. There's nothing wrong with that.

Because a lot of people understand that the toxicity in the game is a vicious cycle that happens for a reason. Whether you want to speak of it or not, Killers do receive a lot of abuse and some of them simply end up doing stuff like this out of pure spite. Is it okay? No, not really. Does it answer why they do it? Yes.
It's a cycle that starts from somewhere.
Instead of finding reasons for the poor behaviour, why can't the people on the forum simply accept that there are unfun things done by both sides.

Please, stop making threads like this. Complain about unfun things for killer. This way, you won't get the negative feedback from everyone.

Why are survivor t bagging at the exit gate until the timer run out if you can answer this you will have your reason for the slug
Why do people on this forum always answer with "Why does x side do this then?" everytime someone complains about jerks in the game? The difference between what you said and the slug situation is that you can spend the time the survivors give you to break some pallets or walls, then force them out, to get some good extra bp with all the cakes. As a survivor, you are forced to stay on the ground, with nothing to do.
-
What they need is to add back the hatch grab, and make it so when you use the key, you only open the hatch, not escape too. And maybe add a delay between opening and getting the escape promt.

This is pure speculation, but considering the huge amount of bugs and strange assets appearing there, it's the swamp.

You're right but since they continue to release bad chapter after chapter there's no denying its hurting their reputation which does lead to people leaving since it shows they don't really care about their player base.
Still very unlikely, but at some point, their lack of seriousness will probably become just another meme.
With all the good and bad, people like the game, and causing such a big playerbase to leave requires more than releasing a bugged mettre à jour.
Also, if you're a dev, can you tell me how come the ptb map was just fine, but the real one is so bugged?

I would buy this, except much larger companies with much larger players have released much faster hot fixes than bhvr.
I used to play world of warcraft for a long time and they would have hotfixes within the week at the latest if something was critically broken.
You are upset like everyone about the bugged patch. But will the entire community leave the game due to it? Insignifincant amounts will. Therefore, they really don't need to hurry up with the fix.

I'm also a software developer for an engineering company. If I released this kind of garbage and didn't fix CRITICAL issues within the first couple days I'd be most likely canned.
There's absolutely no excuse for a company the size of bhvr with the resources they have to release a product this unstable and buggy when it's their only piece of software.
You see, you two guys spoke about what would happen to you - and it makes sense, you probably aren't developing a game with a playerbase so big that a few days with issues won't cost you anything.
BHVR has this asset, which makes them have no pressure when it comes to fixing.

1) had they done proper qa we wouldnt be having this conversation. This has been an ongoing issue for several years now on console, this update only made it worse. I understand they dont know what the problem is, that was fine 2 years ago and id have more sympathy were it not an ongoing problem made worse every chapter.
2) After 2 years of broken promises and platitudes what do you expect people to do? Just keep taking it and being nice to daddy bhvr?
Optimization is clearly something that after all this time should be adressed, but the current insults made due to the bugged map are still exagerated. Of course, everyone is angry that they can't play on the new map, but we should also understand that repairing it isn't done with a finger snap. This issue is 2 weeks old, and if something this serious hasn't been repaired, it means there are clearly problems occuring with the fixing.
-
@OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

Thing is though,as a company they are supposed to test all their updates before they release them in order to prevent major game breaking issues.
But as we all know and already experienced it ourself,BHVR just doesn't do that.
Like,at all.
We have more than enough prove of this.
So what is the responsible decision for a company in this situation?
Delay the update until you're confident that it will work without major issues. The mature part of the community would be 100% ok with that.At the end of the day we all want a good and functioning update.
But BHVR actively decides against acting in a responsible manner and continues to push out one broken update after another.
So of course people will start to get more and more angrier
It's completely BHVRs fault.
I have glimpses of a time they delayed something ("Due to unforseen circumstances, the update has been postponed" - I think this is the quote), and I can tell you the community didn't react well.
Case 1: They don't rush the update: people will whine about long wait times between chapters
Case 2: They rush the chapter, so those people won't complain: bugs, and complaints.
Case 3: They delay the update in order to deliver a good experience: people will still complain about how they don't keep their promises.

I work in IT, as a developer for a specific piece of software. If I put something out this bugged Id be fired or at the very least seriously reprimanded. And if it took 2 weeks to fix we'd lose clients. Dont try and shame people for being upset. Their feelings are perfectly valid when they paid for the product.
Q1: If they would have known the cause of the issue, be sure it would have been fixed. They know the issue, but right now, if I ask you to tell me why it crashes and what needs to be repaired, can you tell me? Probably not, because you would have to investigate, and if you can't find the source, you can't repair anything. (If your car isn't starting, you now the issue, but in order to fix it, you have to know why it isn't starting)
Q2: Valid feelings? Yes, of course. No one says they shouldn't be upset. But they also shouldn't trash down the company because they aren't able to find the source of the issue.
-
I absolutely love people talking about the new map not being back yet. Here's the trick: before they fix something, they must find the cause of the issue. And if they can't manage to find what causes the crashing, they can't fix it. People always talk about how bugs aren't fixed, but no one ever questions what bug fixing takes.
People need to chill and look at some gamedev tutorials to observe that all these issues aren't fixed by pressing the fix button.

100% agree. Toxicity is not the odd click of the flashlight, tbag or hit on the hook, it's direct harassment and hate. That's what real toxicity is. It's such an overused word by a lot of people in DBD.
Toxic still doesn't have a defintion for the gaming term (as usual, people that make dictionaries consider modern speech wrong and disregard it). However, it is generally accepted to be the use of game mechanics in order to annoy the other players, without gaining any advantage by doing so.
And this includes flashlight spamming, teabagging, cursing, harassing(using the chat feature to annoy the other side) etc. You are ruining the other's experience without gaining advantages. The keyword is WITHOUT (gaining any advantage). Therefore, certain builds or playstyles cannot be considered toxic, since they still provide advantages.

Too bad a company is. Sorry, but a company isn't your LGBT support, it's something meant to generate money. And a company will choose the most profitable option, which is clearly not the rainbow clothing.
Perhaps, considering the current LGBT population, not more than one survivor should be LGBT out of the bunch, statistically speaking. They are anyway adding an LGBT survivor, so this is literally a non-issue.

To the OP. Take a short break, do something fun and come back, but with a special mindset. I used to be like you, very emotional and got tilted by bully squads.
1. Watch JRM. He is a dbd streamer and youtuber. As you will watch him, you will see a very non-toxic survivor, but one that plays like someone in a bully squad. This way, you will see that maybe not all the times those people want to make your experience a pain, they are simply better and doing pro-stuff.
2. Whenever you face a bully squad, you must know their weakness: cockiness. They believe they are the best and they are sure you suck. Prove them wrong, punish their courage. Always check for someone with a flashlight prior to picking up, don't over commit to a chase, don't target someone due to them spamming the flashlight or teabagging: they will probably loop you long enough for their team to do the gens. Don't tunnel or camp, once more, they will take this as an advantage. They will counter it and make you pay for it.
To a few of the people that commented: you are disgusting. You have zero empathy. When someone comes here and says they just had a horrible experience and rant, it's clear that they aren't in the best mental state, so telling them stuff like git gud is just disgusting and you should be ashamed to be such a horrible human being. We all know new players are very sensitive to toxicity, since they arent used to it. Of course they over react. Also, since someone spoke about how it isnt us that decide that teabag, flashlight spam etc is toxic. It isn't us, it is the word definition. Doing something to purposely annoy your opponent, without it giving you any advantage. Yeah, it is toxic, you are allowed to do it, but there is something called fair-play. Its the thing that determines how likely it is for people to like you. You can either play fair and be appreciated by people and be swarmed with good energy, or be a ######### and have everyone hate you. It is your choice.

Speaking as someone doing QA for a service that uses a lot of hard-coded translations: It's quite literally work no one wants to do. Burdensome, feels unrewarding, especially given the sheer volume of work that needs to be done in the first place. And if things change? Guess who needs to go through everything and manually update it all over again. Now, if they have it so that the descriptions themselves pull data from the parameters of the Perk, making descriptions modular for status effects as you suggest, in such a way that would significantly increase future iteration time, that would be fantastic! But would also be time not spent on short-term consumer satisfaction.
They talk about how they want to improve the new player experience. Sorry, but I personally think that if you want to improve something, you have to take the time. As you said, in order to not deal with rewritting the text for every change, just use the variables in the text so they change themselves. Let's be honest, most of the work would be copy pasting, which won't really take THAT much time.
If they would be interested in doing this, it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but since they don't want to, it is.

When I had only played a few hours (like 10 or something), I thought Insidious made you invisible.
Its wording was different at the time, but for a player familiar with DbD's language, it still didn't indicate invisibility.
But to be fair, it gives the same stealth indicator onscreen as Wraith gets when he's invisible, which is why I thought that. :)
You know, why haven't you ever made it so when you read a description, you can hover over special statuses and values to see what they mean and how much they do? If I hover over Undetectable on Insidious, I get a pop-up telling me what it does and how much it lasts. If I hover over something that hinders, I see what hinder does, how much it does and how much it lasts. 100% more efficient for new players and maybe some good info without using Wikipedia.

Killers who willingly plan to do this, know exactly what they're doing and get some sick amusement out of making others miserable- oh, but sanitize it by calling it "a playstyle". It's just trolling.
Personally, I think it's griefing.
And I find it fun. The 3 times I did it, I had fun. I didn't do it to ruin anyone's experience, I did it just because it is fun to me.
Basement Boob basically means you camp. Which is not bannable. Periodt.

Megalodon. One of the 7 survivors out there when I started. She had both sb and adrenaline so it was a clear choice. Then I remember going for Laurie Truck (pun intended). Laurie was also my first p1. I played for a few hundred hours before getting someone to level 50, always leveled different people. Managed to get both Megalaodon and Neacap to level 50 same day due to the 3x bp event.

Arthur and Marguerite.

Blight, followed by 5 less points Nurse. Pretty accurate.

Plague so low? The Black Incense alone is enough to make her OP. Combine it with an emetic or the severed toe, and you'll have almost permanent wall hacks+permanent one shotting.

Never got a killer to P3, although I play since 2016. No reason to prestige so I never did more than P1. Meg is an exception, only one with P3. I also have P2 on Feng.
