there are probably licensing issues with this mask I would assume, or does it also belong to Funworld?
we really only got the Ghostface mask because the license holder is not the same as the Scream license holder. As of now, we basically have nothing related to Scream in DbD..
We don't have 'Scream' we have 'Screm'. 😁

NoED is fine. Giving it a timer would be lame, because Survivors would just hide until it runs out.
The only 'community' that sees it as unbalanced is the 'Too Lazy To Do Bones' community. They just want to do gens until they leave, and NoED existing as it is now is a threat to that, so they want it changed at all costs.
The DBD community, as a whole, thinks NoED is fine.

Eh, to be fair, I do wish people had access to 1 or 2 penalty free dc per day. You sometimes have those kinds of games where you're matched with awful teammates and a super tryhard killer that just makes you want to quit and go to the next one. That doesnt happen super often, so I think 1 or 2 free dc's per day would be fine. Ofcourse, if there were 2 free dc's per day, the 3rd one should slap on a 15 minute lobby ban to discourage abusing it and only saving those 2 dc's for absolutely terrible matches(or, yknow, getting RPD or Haddonfield as a huntress).
No. 1 or 2 free DCs a day across the entire playerbase is still ALLOT of DCs.
Why is that so hard for people to understand? YOU think it's '1 or 2' but if 100,000 people are playing, that's potentially 100,000 or 200,000 'free DCs' a day. Imagine getting 6 or 7 Killers in a row using their 'free DCs'. It's only '1 or 2 DCs' to them, but it's 6 or 7 to other players.

you are right! but if you stay 5 minutes less than 5 meters from the hook, I don't think there are many doubts about toxicity! do not you think?
No, I don't agree. You don't get to decide how far or how long is 'toxic'.
-
I like Nemesis but his power is god-awful. Sorry devs.
I mean, if you use it on an Uninfected Survivor; you're literally giving them a free chase extension, in a current meta where 3 gens can pop in 1 NORMAL chase. Giving Survivors a free speed-burst from a hit that did not even injure them is just stupid to do.
Which means you need to rely on the Zombie AI to infect Survivors, and good luck with that.
And that means Ol Nem is just a really stompy Legion. By which I mean his power is so actively bad for him that just going M1 is better. ...Wait; Legion is BETTER than Nemesis because Legion's power at least slows down the game. Nemesis's power is...basically non-existent unless Survivors get super unlucky.
So yeah; Nemesis is actually WORSE than Legion. His power hinders him more than Legion's does. Oof.

Here is my question though.
Why stop there? Why, if they clearly think Camping (to an extent) can be problematic, do they not attempt other methods?
People on here are so quick to shut people down simply because “they know”… but yet the problem still remains. A problem which for a forum that consistently keeps talking about “abuse” via perks etc. never wants to actually sit down and have a conversation about how effed up it is that one person has to pay the price of a development team not properly balancing around a tactic that they have 0 to no control over. They just want to play the game.
Like, for me if they want to keep camping the way it is… ok sure, but give survivors OTHER options outside of perks. Especially because it has a presence in every match, with the potential to secure the kill simply by standing idle. That to me shouldn’t be what the devs should aim for, there is no interesting interaction, the other survivors that hold M1 am sure are bored to death.
All they can do is two things, as I see it:
- Encourage/Reward Killers for NOT camping. BBQ is a good perk for that.
- Reduce the sting of being camped. Give Survivors a 'Distraction' bonus so they still get decent BP when a match ends, when they are camped.
The thing is; They cannot 'remove' camping, and due to programming limitations and people being people, they can't 'punish' is in any meaningful way that won't be abused.
Each side wants to win, so they will use whatever tactics they can. That includes camping, tunneling, slugging, or exploiting mechanics that punish those tactics to gain an edge. The devs can't add it in and say 'Now please don't use this to prevent your friends from dying'.
Even if they somehow removed camping; Killers would find a new way to confirm kills. Because a confirmed kill is one less Survivor doing gens or healing friends. This is what so many people don't understand.
And those that DO understand frequently just don't care. They want a punishment to feel better, and if they can twist it to deny the Killer a kill; even better!
-
@Morpheus_7_ said:
yet!!! what 2 balls !!!
premise: I play only as a survivor:
1) the defense of the last hook is not camping!
2) if the survivors are close to the newly hooked survivor, it is not camping! why would the killer leave if he sees you? to give you a rescue?
3) toxic camping is the real problem! but it is not a problem of camping, but of toxic players! what can bhwr do?
4) my solution is bps: if you camp the hook in a toxic way, the killer points are removed and given to the survivor.
As to 4; no. No. No.
How would the game determine 'a toxic way'? How would a GAME determine HUMAN INTENT?
And why TF do Survivors keep thinking the Killer should be punished? Salty Survivor views on what camping is are irrelevant; punishments are not doled out based on hurt feelings.

How was it abused?
Survivor #1 is Hooked. he is Hooked Survivor.
Survivor's 2 & 3 are 'Camp Survivor', or 'CS'
Survivor 4 is Generator Survivor.
So Hooked Survivor is hooked. Survivor's 2 & 3 stand far from the hook, in opposite directions. The Killer cannot start a chase, as they are too far away. The Struggle Timer is now paused.
If Killer goes after Camp Survivor 2; CS2 runs away to delay a chase. CS3 moves towards the hook. Killer backtracks. Still no chase; Struggle still paused due to 'Camping'.
Same if Killer goes after CS3; CS2 moves towards Hook while CS3 runs away to delay a Chase triggering.
Generator Survivor does gens, as Hooked Survivor is in NO DANGER due to the game seeing 'Camping'.
The Killer is now forced to either throw the game (and get 0 kills, since the Hooked Survivor cannot die yet), or chase 1 Survivor and GIVE UP a free unhook to the OTHER Survivor.
This was, clearly, horribly abused the second Survivors figured it out, since they could delay a Chase from starting by being far enough away. So it was quickly removed.

Tunneling is not an excuse to DC.
It's just Survivors complaining that Killers are playing efficiently.
Do you ignore an 80% done generator to give the Killer more time to play by spreading out gens? No? Then why does the Killer have to ignore the wounded, previously-hooked Survivor & spread out hooks to give them more time to play?
Oh, because Survivors demand it. And now, apparently, they will ragequit if they don't get their way.
Can't wait for the DC penalty to return.

There is no perk that makes you perfectly safe. Just need a perk that can counter face camping, or penalties for killers going out of their way to grief players.
But what is the 'griefing'? The Survivor-invented honor system of 'Don't camp/tunnel/slug'?
They don't need to punish a playstyle just because some Survivors insist Killers do it to anger them & want to ignore any times when camping/tunneling/slugging is needed for the Killer to apply pressure.
Survivors need to stop assuming anything that makes them lose is 'toxic'; they'll enjoy the game more.
-
Ah yes, the usual Survivor complaint 'The Killer is using tactics I don't like, therefor he MUST be doing it to anger me! DEVS! Fix this "griefing"!'

This will not slow queue times if done correctly. The killer is placed into a match no matter who is banned, the survivors won’t choose who to ban until all players are loaded in, at which point the survivors will vote on who to ban, and then the killer picks his/her killer. Of course BHVR will have to include this kind of feature so, it would take a bit more work then just, “banning a killer”. All in all though, it would add some interesting concepts to the game and I’m all for being spontaneous, I agree with this post.
And at that point, the Killer lobby-dodges when they can't pick the Killer they want to play.
I don't lobby-dodge, but if I wanted to play Bubba or Spirit or Nurse, and that Killer got banned; I'd switch lobbies. I'm not about to let MY OPPONENTS decide who I can and cannot play.
Why do Survivors think they have some sort of divine right to decide who the Killer can play? What's next; Survivors get to pick the Killer's perks?
No.

How to fix Self Care:
- For every <x> time spent healing others, it gains a charge. (Something like, every 10 seconds). Alternatively: for every Great skillcheck hit healing others; it gains a charge.
- When healing yourself, and you hit a Great Skillcheck; the progress of that skillcheck is doubled, and a charge is used.

OF COURSE 'sweating for the 4K' is.
Survivors always claim Killers are 'tryhard' for a 4K, but that never applies to Survivors:
- 4 meta perks, each
- SWF
- Voice comms
- Bringing a key
- Bringing multiple toolboxes & BNPs
They EARN their 4E, but Killers are 'sweats' and 'tryhards' if they don't give 4th Survivor the gate or hatch. Because doing a 4K is 'sweat' and 'toxic'.
Pure Survivor main BS entitlement.

"fun" in this contest means that does not give an unfair advantage and that has counterplay, so its objective and experience players will be able to say what is and what's not. If you personally find something unfun/unfair, but more experienced players say that's fine, that's your problem.
"I don't find RTS games fun; does that mean I can quit every match of Star Craft 2?" - this sentence is idiotic and i shouldn't need to explain it.
"If people can't be mature enough to accept that their opponent does not need their permission to do anything; then they should not play PvP games. 🤷♂️" - If you aren't mature enough to accept that your opponent does not need your permission to dc from an unfair match; then you should not play PvP games 🤷♂️.
AHAHAHAHA!
'If you aren't mature enough to accept that your opponent does not need your permission to dc from an unfair match; then you should not play PvP games'
That's like saying 'If you can't accept that someone can punch you in the face; don't be around people'
I don't have to accept toxic DCers; they have to accept the rules, which includes not DCing. Just like I don't have to accept being assaulted; they have to accept that there's laws against being assaulted.
But sure; I have to be 'more mature' and accept people ruining my game. Wow, you're entitled. Do everyone a favor; play single-player games.

'On a serious note, I wish they'd let you dc once a day'
No. On steam alone, going by users in match right now; that's an allowed 77,407 DCs a day. Imagine if you run into a Killer who DCs because 3 gens pop. Then another Killer who does the same thing. Then another Killer who DCs once the exit gates are open. Then you have 2 SWFs who DC when one of them is hooked..
The DC penalty needs to come back, ASAP. And no 'one free DC' stuff.

It's far from being a one-off. It can and will happen fairly consistently against any survivor that's halfway decent at looping.
Then it's up to the Killer to use his brain and decide if chasing the wounded person is worth it.
But you cannot say 'This happens sometimes, so the tactic is always bad'. You're really trying hard to convince Killers to stop tunneling with a bad faith argument.

i partially agree with this. i think as long as the game is full of extremely unfun killers/maps/perks a player shouldnt be forced to put up with behaviour's ######### game design. If they ever fix the game, they should add it back.
"but who decides if the game is fixed and if a killer is unfun?"
a balance team of competent players hired by behaviour, just like every other major game company has.
Rofl. 'Fun' is subjective and not an excuse to DC, dude.
I don't find RTS games fun; does that mean I can quit every match of Star Craft 2?
I don't find Bastion in Overwatch fun; can I quit every match where someone picks him?
You can not claim 'DCing is okay until BHVR makes EVERYTHING fun!' because that cannot happen. Fun is subjective.
On top of that; people, being selfish jerks, will ALWAYS FIND AN EXCUSE TO DC.
If people can't be mature enough to accept that their opponent does not need their permission to do anything; then they should not play PvP games. 🤷♂️
-
This thread's replies is a perfect example of why we need the DC penalty.
If you can't accept that you might go against a Killer you don't like, a perk you don't like, or you may lose; do everyone a favor and play something single player.
Bloody tired of DCers thinking they have some divine right to ruin everyone's games because no one matters in their selfish world but them.
-
No. 99% of the Survivor base would ban Nurse and Spirit, so they would almost never get matches.
@ImBrakingBike said:
Now that I think about it, would it help if survivors were able to see which killer they are matched before the start of the game? Just like the killer is able to see the players + items the other band carry
Also no. Survivors would always pick the best perks for the Killer they see. The whole point of playing Survivor is to do one of the following:
- Use general perks that help in all situations
- Use perks that help your strengths
- Use perks that mitigate your weaknesses
Survivors are not meant to be able to counter every Killer every time they log in to a match.

@Kaitsja said:

I'm arguing that if the survivor can run you long enough, your strategy isn't efficient anymore; it's a waste of time.
If they get you down to 2 gens because you've wasted all your time tunneling one person out of the game, there's a good chance the 3 remaining survivors are going to escape. If you're lucky, you walk away with 2 kills. If you're unlucky, you walk away with 1 kill.
It doesn't matter if you've reduced the overall team efficiency if they're quick to smash out gens. Ergo, tunneling is extremely inefficient and relies on short chases to be anywhere near efficient.
Ok. That does not make the tactic inefficient for everyone, every time.
You're taking one example, which is not guaranteed to happen every time, and saying 'If this can happen once, the tactic is always bad'.
-
@Kaitsja said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2367088#Comment_2367088
Tunneling is inefficient. Your argument is that doing a generator that's 80% is more efficient than doing a generator that's at 0%, which is not always true. If the killer is fiercely defending that gen, you have little chance of completing it, so starting the 0% gen is more efficient.
Tunneling, on the other hand, is almost always inefficient. You have four survivors. Three of which are healthy with zero hooks, one of which is injured and has been hooked once. Tunneling the injured survivor into their second hook is a waste of time since you're not putting any pressure on the other three survivors.
But you're removing one Survivor from the game, thus slowing Survivor's overall ability to do gens, and lowering them from being in 4 place at once to 3 places.
Which means chasing 2 Survivors is no longer 1/2 the team but 2/3rds the team. They go from having 2 being chased and 2 on gens to 2 being chased and 1 on gens.
I mean, if I let the hooked Survivor live, I'm still putting pressure on ONE new Survivor, without the ability to quickly eliminate them if/when I catch them.
Sorry but no matter how you try to paint it; removing someone from the game is the most efficient way to play it. It reduces everything Survivors can do, from gens to healing. Which puts massive pressure on Survivors.
Or are you seriously going to argue that spreading out the hooks is somehow better than removing a body from the board ASAP?

No. The point of the change was twofold:
- Because the spacebar mashing was lame, and physically hurt some people.
- To slow down people attempting to throw the game via hooks. This was being used as a way to DC without DCing.

doing gens isn't the survivors win state, completing them is.
What exactly is your point here besides trying to twist everything, play how you want buddy, you're arguing with someone who doesn't give a toss about how people but can understand the frustration with tunneling but don't understand how killers can complain about survivors doing their only objective like it's a negative thing lmao.
Keep going brother, your paragraphs justifying tunneling is fine, I just don't want to read it because i don't care.

@Seanzu said:

Play as you want, the point stands, killers can and always have been able to win without tunneling, you are free to do so, survivors don't have the choice whether they do gens or not, they kind of have to.
Tunneling to win is a choice that you are free to make, survivors don't really have a choice whether they do gens or not to win, they're kinda required apart from niche key situations or last man getting hatch.
You can't equate tunneling to doing gens. Tunneling is not the Killer's win state; Killing is.
Tunneling is a TACTIC towards winning. Same as Survivors going for a half-completed gen. I mean, the Killer does not really have a choice either; he has to kill to win.
And again; everyone will try their best to win. This 'don't tunnel' malarky is just one side imposing restrictions on their opponent using pretty much every excuse they can think of. It's just 'Stop trying so hard.' with guilt trips 'Survivors feel bad when you Kill them'.
Which is what ticks me off; I'm tired of being demonized by people who can't take a loss. I'm tired of those here who insult the other side for using <Killer/perk/tactic> because they don't like it, or think they deserve wins. Or, most under-handedly of all, just want to force their opponent to play badly for easier matches.
Until Survivors look at a half-completed gen and say 'Nah. I'm going to give the Killer more time; I'm doing a new gen'; they can honestly shut up about 'tunneling'. It's just the Killer's version of doing an already worked on gen.
-
@Seanzu said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2367088#Comment_2367088
I see what you're saying, but killers can regress gens, there have been perks to do that for years, you can't regain hooks there is a massive difference because an 80% gen may not be 80% when you go back to it, however you can't get a hook back, ever.
The point still stands.
And that means...what, exactly? That Killers should spread the hooks around and play less optimally because Survivors can't undo hook states?
I mean, you're right; Killers CAN win without tunneling. They can also win without perks, if the player is skilled enough.
But as long as my opponents (Survivors) are going to play with effective strats and perks; so am I. That includes tunneling the weakest link so I slow down gen speeds.🤷♂️
-
I'm REALLY hoping salty players who abuse the report system once the system is in place end up being punished. It would make my day to see someone come screaming onto the forums because they got a time out because they reported the last 15 Killers that beat them for things like 'tunneling' and 'camping'. 😂
-
@Seanzu said:
Killers have always been able to win dbd matches without tunneling, survivors literally cannot win without doing gens unless a key is involved and even then gens are still required depending on how far into the match this are.
False equivalency.
Killers win by KILLING. Of which tunneling helps.
Just like Survivors win by doing gens, of which going back to an 80% gen helps.
But if we use your logic; Survivors can win by doing every 0% gen when chased off an 80% gen. Instead of tunneling that 80% gen.
Survivors onto using fallacies to push that 'don't tunnel' propaganda.
-
'Playing fair' is not using cheats or exploits to win.
It's staying within the rules of the game and using the tools the game has intended to give you (remember: no exploits) to win.
Anything else is a made-up honor system that you CAN follow, but no one has any right to bash you for NOT following.

It's called 'being an adult' and either waiting for the fix, or writing off the product. Saying 'You're lazy; fix it now' is not criticism!
But given you just made a thread attacking BHVR; I doubt you really care and just want to scream.

But, saying the product isn't working when there is plenty of evidence to show it's working. Saying to fix it when they've been here for years. Is a justified criticism behavior shouldn't be white horsed for making a failed product. So is behavior justified in the product being unplayable on whole platforms? No they aren't and this is deserved criticism. Not everyone should be expected to know how to code but when behavior unleashes the game in an awful state. The consumers can criticize. Do better means do better look for improvements.
No it is not justified, and no, 'do better' is not valid criticism.
OP basically said they are not trying to fix it because it has not been fixed, as if devs can just wave their hands and magically fix code. They think it should be fixed because they want it fixed, which is not how anything in life works.
'about how you havent Been Bothered to fix this Massive Issue'
That's not 'Please fix the issue; here's the problem.' It's clearly 'I think you're being lazy'. Which is not constructive.
