  • I have 3. Just look for The Hillbilly/Clown/Legion Problem.

Hillbilly is just full of hate messages and arguments about high-level play, which is the exact opposite of what I was arguing. I'd suggest NOT commenting on that one and re-igniting all of that. Clown people agree on, and Legion was ignored.

The Trusted tag is give to regular forum users who we've found give helpful advice on the forums and people that remain civil.

It doesn't mean they are above the rules etc, they have to follow the forum rules the same way everyone else does. It hopefully shows that they have game knowledge and can assist other posters as and when required.

And no, they don't know where the donut stash is!

    Say, how was Wolf Creek?

Criticism of the game is not, by definition, "biased," if that's what you're getting at. I make all kinds of noise about the things that need to be improved, and if it's anything, it's because I'm biased in favor of the game doing well and appealing to a broader audience. You shouldn't need to be a milquetoast "go along to get along" cheerleader to earn a Trusted tag.

(Note: I feel like I need to edit this to clarify that I don't mean that as an insult to any Trusted members. I'm just skeptical of the idea that Behaviour would ever give that tag to anyone that they see as being overly bullish with their opinions and feedback, even if they aren't also mean-spirited trolls.)

It's more about my particular views on one very specific killer that a majority of people don't like and how I criticize the community for their, quite frankly outdated, views on certain apsects on the game. If anything I criticize the community more than the game itself.

I'm sure that I haven't made friends amongst the devs either by admitting that I'm going to make a series pointing out fundamental flaws for each killer and how they'll never be fixed because of core designs. Although the 2nd and 3rd episodes have been largely ignored, so I feel like they've gone over fairly well.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

They won't troll, they're not asses, they have to remain un-biased.

In some ways I'm kinda glad that I don't have the Trusted tag, then. While I try to remain as unbiased as possible, I can be described as something of a controversial figure on these forums. Depending on who you ask.

  • Doctor's not going anywhere. He's an easy killer to gain massive amounts of Bloodpoints with, comes included with the game if you're on console, and has one of (if not THE) most powerful non-mobility related power in the game.

I doubt that a purely paid killer, with less than stellar teachable perks, is going to replace someone like Doctor.

  • Making the maps smaller was both a blessing and a curse for Pig. Yeah, I don't have to travel as far, but neither do the survivors.

As for buffs for her, increase the crouch walk speed. I'd also like to see the roar moved bad to the start of the dash, rather than the charge. Maybe dash should charge a little faster too, but the big one is her crouch walking. It needs to be faster.

Funny thing is, I play Doctor all the time and use Iron Maiden. Nobody ever thinks to use lockers.

Really? I do it all the time! Then again, I rarely get to face a Doctor.

@PigMainClaudette Sounds good, my gamertag is RyZe AnGeLz If you want to add me

Sweet. I have some lower ranked accounts that I'll play with.

I'll be on later, since I have work soon.

  • I don't touch generators that early. ESPECIALLY if I spawn next to one.

I've also been hit by NoED because of others more times than I can count, so i try to do as many totems as I can.

  • Claudette is actually the way to go for an Altruistic player starting out. All 3 of her perks are related to healing, even if some people disagree over the worth of Self-Care. I use it because I don't like the fact that Inner Strength relies on totems.

And yes, I also run Bond. On one of my builds anyway.

I'm also an Xbox player, so I can team up and teach you some time.

That has absolutely nothing to do with how good the Hag is. There are plenty of Billies that don't even use his chainsaw to attack does that mean he's bad?

    Overrated. Not bad.

I said if you rely on the fact that the chainsaw is an instant down, then you as a player are bad at the killer role.

And if the first resort of an overwhelming majority of your playerbase is to use a third to half of a power for the sole purpose of CAMPING, even if by proxy, then that speaks volumes about a killer.

  • Some times I'm in the mood for a hunt.

Killer can be a far more rewarding experience than Survivor, but the problem for me is that it's too much of a tonal shift between games. One game I'll absolutely dominate against a combination of Reds and Purples, as a Green ranked killer, then go to be slaughtered by a group of Greens. It's that simple.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

I mean if a killer does poorly and doesn't apply pressure to the gens their game can ends in a couple of minutes

If a survivor does poorly like being caught and messing up in chases the same happens, i don't see why it should be different

Because SOME games, there isn't time or means to get away from these killers. And they didn't have to wait 20 minutes for a 2 minute game.

You clearly don't know how to play Hag nor have you ever faced a GOOD Hag apparently.

I've faced good Hags, but they're 1 in a million. Most of the Hags I face are between ranks 10-17 and place about 4 traps in every possible entrance or 3 directly at my feet.

  • Now, before I say anything about this particular person, I have to indeed tell you about the game before.

I was playing as a P3 Yui. This amazing person was another Yui who I have not seen again, nor remember their name.

FOR SOME REASON the first four games I had were against NoED and Ebony Mori killers. Exciting. Fair and balanced. I only died to one of them, though, and this 4th game was against a Hillbilly on an Autohaven map, with Insta-saw (Carb Tuning and Primer Bulb). He massacred everyone else but didn't spot me once and I got hatch after they ran off in the opposite direction to the hatch.

This salty little so-and-so must have remembered me, but didn't bring an Ebony this time, and instead swapped their Primer Bulb for a Thompson Mix. This time it was Hawkins Laboratory, with the basement near the Upside Down room, and yes this is important information. He was chainsawing to a generator with 2 people on it, and I hid in the barrels near the intersection on one of the outer hallways. He stopped a bit after me and targeted me, but could only get me with a hammer and downed me just over the Upside Down vault, right next to the basement, but on the other side of the vault so he had to walk around. This Yui came out of nowhere, bodyblocked for me AND HAD BREAKOUT! So I got off at the top of the stairs, she healed up somewhere.

Hillbilly came after me and I made it to one of the circular catwalk rooms, got downed next to the pallet on the lower bit so I crawled to it. Hillbilly picked me up, and Yui appeared to pallet stun him. So, I run off, but there's a set of stairs nearby, I go up them into a side room and start to heal up with Self-Care as my game freezes. The Hillbilly DC'D ON US BECAUSE HE COULDN'T GET REVENGE! And boy was it sweet.

If you played Yui a while ago, and saved a P3 Yui by the Xbox gamertag of Reaper Andross from a Hillbilly in the Hawkins Laboratory, thanks you legend. I know I messaged you afterwards, but you are the type of survivor we need more than ever.

  • Hillbilly. If you have to rely on an instant-down, then you are not a good killer. I don't give two flying fornications about "positioning" or any of those garbage excuses. You already have mobility and destruction in a button press, with no real cooldown. You don't need an instant-down on top of that.

Freddy is only as good as you let him be. Unless they hide the snares really well, he's just a basic killer who can occasionally teleport to a generator.

The Legion are actually really good killers, if you aren't desperate for 4 skulls at the end of a match. They are balanced around the emblem system and can easily rank you up with a massive amount of BP gain.

Doctor's designed to be annoying. He also has one real strength, and that's tracking. If you can loop effectively without relying on pallets or windows, he's really easy to beat. Lockers also just cancel Static Blast. Just jump in one of them if you hear the wind up. It's not that hard.

Hag should have the proximity to hook penalty applied to her if her traps are also close to a survivor. You may as well be considered a full-on camper if you place a trap within 10m of a hooked survivor.

If I recall correctly, I don't think Annotated Plan is actually +30 seconds. I think it's closer to 15? I don't remember for certain, but despite both add-ons using the word "Moderately", I don't think the absolute values of the time modifications for the two add-ons are the same.

Pretty sure it was 30 seconds. I'll have to go back over Otz's video covering every single add-on in the game.

Whenever possible I run sketch and tampered timer. Usually works pretty well. I run annotated plan and gears when thats not an option

Yeah, I prefer my dash add-ons to get the first hit. Which does sound kind of ironic considering my intense hatred of instant-down perks and abilities. I find them strangely unsatisfying, yet a free first hit from a stealth ability is perfectly fine to me.

  • Sometimes I'm too committed to going in for the hook, and trading out one of my hook states to prevent you going further can be the best play.

  • @SpookyStabby said:

I understand what you mean, having Pig as my number 2 and playing mostly stealth but those damn things are so scattered and noisy I assume as soon as match starts they get a view of a box so I'm a fan of the tempered timer/increase skills odds and box increase combo. What do you match up for her?

Usually the Dash add-ons. Combat Straps/John's Medical File/Video Tape. They're my go-to, but they are also surprisingly rare in bloodwebs for me, despite being brown/yellow add-ons.

I also like to pair Tampered Timer with the Gears, or even the Sketch. Never take the mask effects or anything to affect a box, as with the Great Skill Checks being a thing, they'll do more harm than good. Extra traps isn't bad, but I also find that I'm not aggressive enough with them to use those add-ons much.

One combo that I need to try out though, is taking Amanda's Letter (the pink one.....), with Video Tape and a Gideon Meat Plant offering. If you can guess why, then you'll know how evil I can be.

  • Pig and Surveillance? Really? I'm the only person I know who unironically loves that perk and uses it, outside of adorable baby Pigs.

You could also say [Stealth Killer] and A Nurse's Calling, considering the zero TR and relatively short range of the aura.

  • Base trap time: 2:30

    Annointed Plan: +0:30/3:00

    Tampered Timer: -0:30/2:00

I can't remember how long it takes to actually search a box, but you can easily combine the Jigsaw's Sketch with Crate of Gears or Tampered Timer to real metaphorically light a fire underneath a survivor's rectal area. Adding boxes does also reveal that you are indeed The Pig much quicker as they are a unique part of her kit and a dead giveaway as to who you are. Same with the Plague's fountains. Sometimes as a stealth killer, it's better NOT to reveal your identity early on, so this might also be a factor to consider.

  • It's all about risk assessment and in some ways just denying a 4k.

Are MORE of us likely to die if I go for this risky save? If yes, then prioritise personal escape. If no, then go for the save.

I've had games where I've seen people come for me, or go back for someone else, that lead to the killer being handed more kills. I've been the killer in those games. It's confusing and ends up costing survivors more than it's worth to try and go for the save.

And here's a message to anyone who reads this and gets annoyed by this type of play: Just because you aren't being mori'd or killed off THIS SECOND, doesn't mean that I would have had time to dodge the killer to get to you, or even you being able to get out as well. You ARE already dead. It is not worth it for me to go back and die as well for you.

  • This is why I have other accounts at lower ranks. So I CAN play with underpowered/underrated perks, not have a horrible time and have some fun with new ideas since I can't really convince other people do to some customs with me.

Maybe if I start streaming, then I could. If cross-play comes soon, I might even look into it more.

  • The points are nice, but then again I also focus on the Archives lately. They're a huge boost and the lore is getting pretty interesting.

I've heard Lithe can be a bit quirky, is that still an issue? I'm def more interested in the second build you posted.

I haven't noticed anything wrong with Lithe. Main issue is the requirement of a FAST vault, which gives off a notification.

The second build also really relies more on Lithe and Dance with Me. Best way to learn about the build is No0b3's video "INSTANT NINJA" but he uses Windows, Lithe, Dance and Q&Q because in his words, he's boosted AF.

If I had to swap out perks, Self-Care could be replaced with Iron Will, Resilience, Spine Chill or really any other perk. I just don't like being injured that much.

  • Myers is just an all-round solid choice, but I would actually just recommend outright buying the Halloween chapter, since Laurie also has great survivor perks.

Leatherface has decent perks, but you're probably better off waiting for the shrine to have them.

Ghostface is a very strong stealth killer, doesn't have a survivor attached and some of his perks are decent. I normally hate this type of comparison, but to me he's a better Wraith for 90% of the playerbase.

Pig is super fun, though. LOVE playing as her. Love SAW too. She has a lot of versitility in her kit and can tremendously slow down a game with the RBT's if they don't remove them instantly. Bit hard to get into though, has she is quite slow and outside of learning dash mindgames, doesn't really have that much chase potential. And I love Surveillance which is one of her teachables.

  • There are two builds I tend to play stealthy with, and both feature dark clothing. I also play solo, so you can swap Self-Care out if you have teammates that reliably heal. For me, stealth is about timing and picking your battles. I can't run all that well, so this is a good alternative.

Claudette - Spine Chill, Sprint Burst, Self-Care, Bond. Spine Chill and Bond give huge amounts of information about if someone's being chased near you or if the killer's after you and Sprint Burst is to GTFO and gain distance.

Kate* - Lithe, Dance with Me, Quick and Quiet, Self-Care. Bit of a meme build, but the idea is to disappear from a chase after a fast vault. No scratch marks or notification and a speed boost can really throw off some killers.

*I bought her black biker outfit and use the darker default hair. Looks good and blends into darker sections really well.

  • The problem with tunnelling trapped survivors is that it's so easy. There are generally 4 places a survivor is likely to be, and 99.9% of the time, they'll be injured.

Ironically, you are better off ignoring them entirely since they are basically written off as they're only concerned with removing their trap. If you run across a trapped survivor, then slug them. It'll apply more pressure on the other survivors. Just don't go out of your way to find them.

    What?!?!

Candyman, or anything Clive Barker, was HUGE here in Australia during the 80’s and 90’s

    ......... I was born in '96.

And the one who got me into horror, my mum of all people, never heard of him either. That being said, I am highly familiar with what people would consider the "classics" and I have also met John Jarret (Mick Taylor) in person. Top bloke.

  • Ever heard of "cautious optimism"?

Yes, I want cross-play as an Xbox player, as I have friends on other platforms I want to play with. It would be nice to not have to buy every console or worry about who's using what.

I've also read on here that the PS4 community can be a bit toxic and of course the usual aim benefits and all that. And the issue of PC hackers, which would be a nightmare to go up against.

So, yeah. It isn't really "complaints" as it is voiced concerns.

  • Paint more Warhammer 40k miniatures than I would like to admit to owning, jump over to something single player like the Borderlands franchise, so some creative writing especially revolving around Dungeons and Dragons, maybe go and practice some of my martial arts (shotokan karate and kickboxing) or crack open a cold one.

Or usually go to bed after some Youtube, as I normally play DbD, or my xbox in generally really late at night.

Sometimes if it's been a really annoying day, or I'm just fed up with a killer in particular, I'll over-analyze everything about them and come up with another entry into The [Killer] Problem because they take about an hour or two to write, weeks of deliberation to come up with the themes, sometimes a good whisky and most of my mental fortitude.

Basically tire myself out on something else until I cannot concentrate in anything any more.

I've seen people say that...although interestingly enough Candyman is a story from Books Of Blood, written by popular English author Clive Barker (Hellraiser, Nightbreed etc).

I'm English, saw the original Candyman on VHS release and I can confirm Candyman is well-known over here.

Candyman will definitely be more exposed to the current generation and modern audience when the reboot is released later this year.

    Yeah, nah mate.

Never heard of him in Oz. But then again I could go on about Mick Taylor and nobody would have a clue.

  • Well, let's bee honest. Outside of the US, Candyman is basically unknown. The only reason I know of him is through Dead Meat's Kill Count series on Youtube.

But Rainbow six siege does it with every operator and map change that they release . so its entirely possible.

Since when? I've never seen a Siege TS available for console and I've been playing that game for almost 3 years now.

  • We'll never get a PTB on consoles because simply put, Microsoft and Sony don't like the idea of it being a constantly updating piece of software such as the PTB on their systems.

It's easier with PC and something like Steam. Basically convince Sony and Microsoft to let us have a PTB on console, and then we'll see about getting one. I do actually want one as well.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1306141#Comment_1306141

As a trapper main, that happens maybe once in like, 30 games. It's just not reliable. Even if people are stepping on traps left and right they could easily just escape them before you captalize on it.

What happens more often is that you start hearing boom, boom, boom. And you now need to pick your traps and set up again, because they found them.

    TL;DR: theory =/= practice

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1306275#Comment_1306275

I don't see how that applies... people step on freddies snares right? It works basically the same. It's not hard to accomplish.

And muscle memory is just relearned. Not a big deal.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1306278#Comment_1306278

That is the case. Power creep exists in every game that gets frequent updates.

Think of how simple the earlier powers are compared to the newer ones.

Traps set up traps, wraith goes almost invisible, billy charges a chainsaw and sprints, nurse teleports forward, huntress throw hatches... etc

Compared to let's say plague. You puke on people to make them sick, or on objects that will make people sick when interacted with, when someone is fully sick they are broken. To heal they must use fountains, the fountains get corrupted and interacting with a corrupted fountain gives you a puke that doesn't make people sick but hurt them for 60 seconds.

New stuff, gets more to work with.

The thing with billy(and huntress) is that their simple power happened to be incredibly effective for the meta of the game. Billy chainsaw is supposed to be used to down people, but them someone went "hey, I can easily patrol gens with this" and that was it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1307348#Comment_1307348

As a trapper main, setting up traps around the hook like that, would just be a madsive waste of time and easily avoided by someone paying attention when going to the hook. Which most do when facing trapper.

It's like expecting people to run to the hook as hag... they won't if they know who they are facing.

And someone using kindred would absolutely destroy it. And that is a pretty common perk nowadays.

Trapper still has the most counterable power in the game. There's no way he would suddenly become op if he started with all of his traps.

It might just be that I'm a veteran Warhanmer 40k player, but I honestly don't see the power creep that much since it is so blatant in 40k.

As for his Torment trenches, they look a little bit more obvious to me and harder to hide. Soul Cages are also useless unless people step in them, so you're left with his ranges option. Still a good power in it's own right, and would still be a strong killer on it's own. Even with all he has, he still seems to have the Doctor issue of fantastic abilities with zero mobility.

Sorry but in modern PvP games frames are everything. A game just barely being functional isn't acceptable, I shouldn't stutter just getting hit from Franklins and the game suffers from horrible cache issues on Xbox...even if you hover over a perk in the bloodweb it freezes. I'm not a PC player, i've played Xbox/Playstation all my life, only a fool would think that Xbox/PS4 versions of this game are good.

No one is asking for Ultra 4k graphics. Just a smooth experience and the way to get a smooth experience is by having a steady framerate.

Even when i play on PC i'm using my controller...

    PS1 was my starting console.

Hell, Crash Team Racing was my first game!

Right, but the doctor at least needs to charge its shock and slows down in the meantime.

The skill is still the same though. But like I said earlier too, console player, so I can't test anything myself.

It does seem quicker than Shock Therapy, but ST is also in a cone shape as opposed to a straight line and does deny certain actions.

I mean i've noticed you have defended every thread already about pyramid head. He's clearly overtuned, he has way to much in his kit for starters. Your bias is showing pretty strong friend.

Well, maybe some of us want to wait a while to see if natural counters form BEFORE calling for the nerf-hammer.

I don't have access to the PBT and I can see that he is a strong, yet predictable killer. Trenches are easy to spot, and unless you're trapped somewhere, then they're easy to avoid. Or just wait out the timer on it. If you can dodge a Doctor's Shock Therapy, you can dodge his ranged option.

Perk builds are anyone's guess, but I'm theorising two main builds: Chase rush, featuring perks like Enduring and Spirit Fury to end chases quicky and go onto others or slowdown builds with perks like Thanataphobia, Sloppy Butcher, Deathbound and Ruin.

  • @myersismydaddy said:

Bubba was a rushed killer, that's why he's so bad. The devs themselves said it as well. They literally copy-pasted add-ons from Billy to him. If they were given proper time back then, Bubba would probably be completely different to what we have now.

Not really the point, and I don't believe that Bubba will ever be a solid killer because if the fact that he has to be different from Hillbilly.

The fact that he needs a chainsaw and not have Billy's dash or anything similar means that he'll probably never be good.

  • @Shield_Papa said:

The only thing that makes sense to me is to stop a pop goes the weasel / ruin regression.

Say Freddy hooks a survivor and sees you working on a gen. He teleports to PGTW and you just block the gen. He can either wait out the 30 seconds to use his perk or decide to go for for you. As well when a gen is blocked it does not regress, so if you have a god tier billy with ruin and he’s coming to you block the gen and run, and you’ll save 30 seconds before it’s regressing.

Lastly I’m sure someone’s gonna troll other survivors by blocking gens.

Can Freddy teleport to a locked off generator? Because if he can't teleport to a generator locked off by something like Corrupt Intervention or Thrilling Tremors, then this might be a practical use for it.

  • @Jacoby2041 said:

Good old "power creep" which in gamer terms means something that is in a game early on will eventually end up being weaker or less interesting than future content due to expanding ideas and generally increasing uniqueness required for each subsequent piece of content

In other words old stuff basically gets weaker and/or less cool over time as new things are added. Our good old boy Trapper has been there since the dawn of time and his power is pretty basic. Nowadays we got all this crazy stuff which makes him seem bland by comparison. I wouldn't mind a few changes for Trapper, such as being able to hold 2 traps and not have to rely on bag addons all the time

If this was truly the case, then Leatherface should be a superior Hillbilly, and ol' Billy should be one of the weakest characters in the game. Certainly not in the top 3, and the easiest to learn of all of them.

  • Well, the thing is with Pyramid Head's power(s) is that they all have to combo together. Or at least 2/3 parts do. They have to run over the glowing broken ground first, then unless they're used to playing Pyramid Head and don't rely on muscle memory, NOT go with basic instinct and pick them up to hook them.

It also seems like Pyramid Head gets either no or less emblem for putting them into Soul Cages, or at least he does for Final Judgement. Kill-crazy killers will be fine with this though, then probably just complain that they can't rank up at all, but hey. I'm also a console player who can only speculate about these sorts of things until the official release.

  • Simple. KILLERS can't interact with the generator if it's blocked off. That's one of the biggest concerns with perks like Thrilling Tremors.

Regression is also paused when the Entity is blocking off a generator, making this a perk to work around Hex: Ruin WITHOUT having to go and cleanse the totem.

  • I'm both really happy that it isn't Candyman for a start.

Pyramid Head is also an actually iconic horror character. Would I have been more excited with something like the Xenomorph, but I like this WAY more than Jason Voorhees.

  • Borderlands 2/Pre-Sequal/3. 2/Pre-Sequal because they're just fantastic and I love the second one especially, and all my characters are on my 360 Pre-Sequal so now I have to grind up all the other ones and 3 because I should get all of the characters to at least complete the campaign even if the writing is totally abysmal.

Or Warhammer 40,000. During this whole quarantine thing, I've painted up about 2000 points worth of models, with no sign of slowing down just yet. Ironically I've made a full 1,250 point list out of just Nurgle stuff and it looks pretty decent too.
