Ideally, you would want to down your Obsession first with STBFL. But if you don't find them first, just injuring them whenever you see them can still make them waste their time healing while you keep most of your stacks intact.
I honestly don't think STBFL is that situational, because you will be getting stacks anyways. And there is a higher chance for you to not be chasing your obsession. Just having 4 stacks already can make a pretty noticable difference in how fast you're downing survivors.
Yeah, not really when the first hit is free though. I've tried it on Spirit and I can't remember if I have on Trapper, but I'm not a huge fan.
I just prefer stealth for the first hit, then winning a chase however I can. STBFL doesn't play a huge part in that playstyle, especially when a majority of my perks are also geared towards tracking.

Can't wait for console players to complain about PC players having the upper hand because of mouse and keyboard...
That'll likely be only for Nurse and Huntress.
Apparently there also isn't THAT big a difference, since this isn't a twitchy precision FPS like Siege or CoD and there'd most likely be an option to disable it on your end so you'll only get paired with same system players.
-
Depends on the killer for Monitor. STBFL is also very situational, like say if you have an alternate attack method or find the obsession super quickly. Never used Shadowborn and don't plan to honestly. I have more important perks to equip in their place.
-
Jason Voorhees.

Xbox is fine. I don't know what you're on about.
Frames are not everything and I don't know why PC players keep on championing it. The game is functional, looks like it should (besides Quentin's face) without running at a snail's pace. Some of us don't care about all the fancy lighting either. Maybe I like the idea of being near invisible because the game isn't super high-res.
Threads like this make PC players look even more like elitists and it's honestly infuriating. Console gamers are generally a more casual audience too, so they don't NEED to have their retinas burned out with ULTRA-4K GRAPHICS and some of us, myself included, actually prefer to have a controller in my hands, rather than a mouse and keyboard.

The Freddy one was just a really quick beatdown, lol. This was a 2 minute game as old Freddy in which everyone died on first hook, except for the first guy who got hooked...he died on his 2nd.
Well, there's your problem.
This is part of the reason I play Pig, Doctor and Legion. Less concerns about pips and they're pretty fun to play as.

These are all games where I've had 4ks with 5 gens remaining. That SHOULD represent an ideal result for a killer. Unfortunately not the case since this game also keeps track of how many times you hit someone rather than just downing and killing someone.

The last picture was only a silver in devout because someone DCed right before I could hook them. Even if that emblem was a gold or iri though...wouldnt have mattered.
Once again to use my shooter comparison, imagine if while playing Overwatch you headshot every member of the enemy team before they could ever hope to step foot on the objective...and the game sees that as being worse than if you keep doing trash dmg that gets healed up. If the game rewards you with no rank up because you crushed the opponents TOO well.
Well the Hillbilly, Bubba and Plague emblems I can understand in these because a lot of times, they are more reliant on one-shots, meaning you get only half the Chaser.
And I don't get the Freddy one unless everyone was injured after their first hook. Which would be easy to believe with 5 gens remaining and 4k.

hits:10 -15
down: 5 -1p
Every1 died on their third hook
: 3
Then I am confused. Normally if you use heaps on instant-downs or if everyone stays injured, then you can be punished by getting less hits. Should have been fine if you had a decent Gatekeeper. 12 hooks is also Iri Devout from memory. It also depends on if you were close to hooks or not.
I honestly don't know how you got Entity Displeased.

Realistically the way the game grade's player performance is abit silly. I've used this comparison before, but this would be similar to awarding more points in a shooter for killing a player by shooting them in the foot 5 times rather than shooting them in the head 1 time. If I can get a 4k without any gens being completed... that surely should be all the proof needed to show I belong in a higher rank that I'm currently sitting. The current system often times just grades you on how well you can game the system, not how well you can play the game.
I've never had a problem with the emblem system, but I also play Pig, Doctor and Legion. It works well for my playstyle and I seem to do well with it. I don't know how, but it just works for me.

Okaaay. Going to play a bit of Devil's Advocate here.
How many hits/downs/instant-downs did you get? Were the survivors injured for a long amount of time? How many of them died on their first/second hook?
These are all questions that we need answers for.

I don't consider that toxic either, I consider it "common ######### sense". It's just pressing the advantage.
DH and Rancor rarely see use; DH in particular because it can be destroyed in 14 seconds, IIRC. Moris, to me, are a treat, like finding a box of chocolates you thought was empty but realizing there's one left.
I said "in a way" because there are some people who see them as toxic, and to a degree I do. This is just a way to end all of the arguments about their use that is fair for everyone.

Oh so... get rid of the killers "free win" but keep the survivors free win.. i see.
See what? You gave me no reason for a point unrelated to the topic at hand and now attempt to frame me as someone who's survivor sided.
If we really want to go there, then you have perks to deal with it. Or just tunnel or camp those with a key. They are "legitimate tactics" after all.
I asked you why and you haven't given me a reason. Make a point or leave. Hell, make your own thread explaining everything and tag me.

@Orion said:

Moris have cool animations that survivors and killers need to appreciate more. They're not "inherently toxic" in any conceivable way.
Tunnelling of hook with an Ebony is though, which is the most common use of a Mori. I appreciate them through use of Devour Hope and Rancor, as you actually have to put in effort to pull them off. It's not "Oh, hey. I've already hooked you."

Only if keys forfeit rank for every survivor in the lobby (even if they don't have a key)
........... but why though? And why only survivors?
Survivors have to do a large share of their objective, or have the niche situation of the killer having closed the hatch first.
This comment is also extremely off-topic, and part of the Us vs Them debate that this thread is not a part of. Keys are also linked to specific challenges. Drain 3 Keys is very different to Kill 4 Survivors by any means.
There is also the issue of the Broken Key and the effects of add-ons being used while not being able to open the hatch.

In any case, this sounds great.
I Love the idea, but I don't want to bring anymore hostility to the killer because 4 survivors will lose out pipping.
I Love the idea though, but you know, I wouldn't want anymore toxicity toward killers.
That's why I suggested this. Mori's are in a way, inherently toxic. This will either lower the toxicity of bringing a mori, or shifting it to these games that don't affect ranking. It will also make them infinetly less frustrating to go against without having to just remove or nerf them into oblivion.
-
@BigBrainMegMain said:
I really like this.
What about Ranking Positively, for survivors? Sacrificing Rank, for a Mori shouldn't affect survivors IF they do well.
I'm digging this idea though.
I've purposefully left out positive ranking, because then there would be a lot of contention from EITHER side with being able to rank up very quickly, and with the amount of farming games that would appear from this, I don't think it'd be fair to allow it and boost people's ranking further than it should be.
@Ghostwithaface said:
Well if this idea gets put in, going with the idea for now for the shake of debate it is put in and this becomes the new system for moris. Well not a single other offering would do this. Using a game offering or other map offering to get a map that favors the killer you play or allows you to make great use of balance landing, rank is not effected at all. So it might lead to some confusion, if there is no warning to it. So you would need to add a warning, if you use this offering you won't be able to rank up but you will still earn blood points at the end of the match. That way it would avoid any confuse with basically every other offering that does not have the same effect.
There would also 100% be a bullet point in the description warning killers about a lack of ranking.
-
@Cardgrey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/154987/should-moris-forfeit-ranking
And what about lv 5 of dh?
I'm assuming you mean Devour Hope, and no. Kill effects will not count, as there are very specific requirements for them. Devour Hope requires Survivors to ignore a token and feed the Killer it's power. I know this as I've been on both sides of it quite a bit. There would also be issues around people who use it to get Exposed and that's it, so making it that rank is unaffected by reaching 5 tokens would both promote camping with the perk to avoid tokens.
There is also the issue of if ranking will be denied OUTRIGHT by having the perk, or arbitrarily reaching 5 Tokens with Devour Hope. Same can be said for Rancor, which has a very specific kill requirement and doesn't necessarily activate that requirement.
So overall, no. This is only for Mori offerings.
-
Well, the thing is that besides Badham's 5 SLIGHT VARIANTS OF THE SAME MAP, the Realms that you've been sent to more have 5 distinct variants and appear FIVE times as much. The fact that they also have such varied layouts does make it also pretty acceptable to be sent to these Realms this much.
They share an asthetic, but that's about it.
-
Difference is that one side is ultimately rewarded for it. Yes, they lose SOME emblem for it, but they still gain progress overall.
Survivors (especially the one on hook) lose EVERYTHING. Let's say that you're the first one found and they probably have either a stealth ability or an instant down. Let's say Ghostface because he's broken and has both. And did this to me last night.
I was first found, and because of his broken stalk, marked me and one-shot me. He then proceded to legit camp me out, then when I got unhooked TARGETED ME even though there were other people who were injured and closer. I died easily and my brother got facecamped next. I walked away with the obligatory bronze Benevolence and that was it. Don't know about the bro. And for what? Because GF didn't want to play the game and cared more about a few skulls? GF probably even ranked up from it.
Best way to stop camping is for a Dev to come out and say "Killing is not 100% of your objective, stop camping and tunnelling you twats." And actually punish killers for not sharing the pain.

I'm not a big horror buff myself, and I haven't played F13, so I wouldn't really know, but I do think completing the 'Big 3' is a worthwhile goal for DBD. They've done some good stuff with killer powers in the past, so I'd hope they'd be able to do any new ones justice. I've heard the devs saying some very promising things about the new chapter, so hopefully it will be awesome either way 😊
Don't play F13: The Game. It's terrible.
Imagine playing against Spirit with old Prayer Beads while you permanently have Hindered, they have Exposed and can immediately Mori you. I'm not going to say that it isn't fun, but it's just not that good a game. You don't even get a choice in which side you play as.

Even with both definitions, it's still a terrible way to play for both parties. You are literally better off slugging, as it forces the other survivors over to heal them, or waste Unbreakable, and it makes the trapped person waste even more time.
But then again, there is literally no reason to target them, but by all means take a stab if they walk into you.

Doc does like to have a big TR but not Distressing... use Calm series of addons
Whispers is awesome with Doc... Overcharge isn't great by any means but if you don't have anything else it's fine
Any Gen information perk is good on doc so you know where to go to get whispers active
Oh and shock is more about accuracy then spam... timing is also needed to get full value from shock and static blast attacks
I use both. It's great.
Distressing and Calm work really well together.
Whispers is also kind of a tutorial perk, and I mainly use it to tell me when to use Static Blast.
Overcharge is alright if you're kicking generators, but I prefer Ruin/Surveillance for full map control. Blast them and they're forced off to scream. If they go back to the generator, Surveillance activates.
As for general advice? Predict-Shock. Shock Therapy where you THINK they're going to go. If they scream, go that way still. If not, change direction.

I know that a lot of people won't respect my opinions, especially when it goes against the norm, like my absolute hatred of Hillbilly. I don't care.
I just keep doing what I do almost to spite haters, but mainly so that I can hopefully reach someone with a similar view or help others. Misinformation breeds ignorance, which breeds to wild speculation and "truths" based on feelings. So I spread information.
You've just got to play and post for you. You think I made The [Killer] Problem series for others? You think I expect hundreds of posts hating on my opinion because I LIKE IT? No. I do it for me. You've got to find your own outlet in that sense. I write rants about fundamental game issues and paint way too many 40k miniatures.
Keep it casual, take a break once in a while, and just try to be a better person. Try to change the actions of others by being the best version of yourself you can be. Or if you want to change people, change one. Then another, and another after that. Not a whole community at once. You'll go insane if you do and we don't need another lunatic on these forums. My insanity is hard enough to keep track of.
Biggest piece of advice I can give here is this: if someone's resorting to insults and put-downs to silence you, they have no argument. Ignore them.

I would suggest Piggy. You'd be able to delay the game a bit with her traps. On PS4, I knew a killer who would play very well at red ranks without any perks. Piggy was one of his killers.
I play no add-on Pig quite a bit. Good perks and game knowledge make up for it.
Most of her add-ons are pretty trash anyway.
-
If you want a HARD game? Wraith.
Wraith is literally dependant on add ons and perks. And you won't be using either of them. So you're an M1 killer who's power is probably less useful than Clown's given that you're at red ranks.

White, fading on and off for an active/paused trap.
It becomes paused when they're dying, on hook or in chase. So yeah. Leaving them alone is advised.
-
@Claudette_Baguette said:
She is bad and totally boring.
Half of her ability (crouch and ambush) are almost completely useless. You lose so much time when crouch walking since you are super slow. Ambush is totally useless as well since you can't use it in a chase properly and sprint burst hard counters it.
The only "good"-ish thing she has is the traps. Yeah just press m2 on a downed survivor. So much enjoyment in doing that. It's just so passive and boring.
That's why I play Pig the least out of all killers. 50% of her ability is not used and not useful, the rest, traps, are just boring to use and don't require any skill and is not an active ability either. She basically is just a m1 killer with traps. Nothing special. Any other killer has more active useful abilities than her.
For comparison then, who DO you play on the killers side? And why do you enjoy them?
Also, how are you using crouch/dash? Because that may be half the problem. Sprint Burst only counters it if they have distance already. Dash is faster than Sprint Burst.
You can also just stand up and use crouch similar to GF's Nightshroud ability. Cancelling your TR is a pretty effective strategy in a lot of situations.
-
Ok. So, the Pig places a trap on your head. The trap has to be on your head (or at least the animation has started) BEFORE the generator is completed to activate.
If a generator is completed at all, the timer activates. If so, you have 2:30 (or 2:00 if they're running the Tampered Timer add-on) to remove it or you die and are "sacrificed".
If a trap is placed after all the generators are completed or Endgame Collapse is triggered, the traps will not activate.
They will also appear inactive if you're dying, in a chase or on a hook.
If they're not activating at all, then that's a serious bug that needs to be looked at.
-
Stealth is a Survivor strategy that is better for people who aren't as strong in a chase. I've used it for ages and it is still a predominant part of my play, even if I'm running around as a P3 Yui lately.
The difference between camping and stealth is that one ruins the game for people and encourages unhealthy methods of play and the other is legitimately an alternate to chases. And that's on BOTH sides!
You can still be a stealthy Survivor hand help your team heaps. If you want to, then here's my build:
Claudette with basic jacket, dark default clothing is preferable.
- Spine Chill
- Sprint Burst
- Bond
- Self-Care
Spine Chill and Bond tell you if the killer is coming for you or not. It's also useful for getting healed quicker if you have a chance. Sprint Burst is the gtfo button on case the killer is coming to get extra distance on them and hide somewhere else. Self-Care is so you don't cry iut in pain, and keep two health states. I know that people will say to just run Iron Will instead, but I prefer being healthy.
-
Lithe because I can control when I use it and there's always an area with a vault, rather than only one hill on some maps.

9/10 PC Pigs tunnel the trap too.
You still occasionally get a trap tunneller on Xbox, but they're pretty rare above rank 15.
Well, besides the fact that Pig is a rare killer to face for me. I don't see the point in trap tunnelling because that person is essentially removed from the match for the time being.

Tunnelling trapped Survs is actually a terrible idea. Any Pig worth their salt (meat joke not intended) knows that targeting helmeted survivors is a waste of time.

So I main Nurse, but lately I have found that Pig can be one of the best killers if you utilize her well enough. Many people tell you to use her dash attack more and more, I only use it to get a free hit on large loops. It's her stealth, you could say... "Well Myers has stealth and so does Ghost face, yeah Myers can't duck down but ghost face can and he's just as small as Pig..." Yada yada yada... A good pig player knows how to utilize stealth on approaching gens, hooks and beating a loop. I have spent the last several hours of my life working my way up from rank 17 to now rank 9 and having won 26 straight games in a row.
Here is a little hint for you, if you utilize your stealth well enough you can turn the game on your favor almost instantly by forcing the survivors to play altruisticly. Have one person on hook, wait outside the perimeter for your MYC to kick in, down the MYC victim and then tunnel the person who got unhooked. Hook the person who had MYC affected on them and then put a mask on the person who was unhooked and wait again. It's a very dirty tactic but one that works all too well for that clutch kill and multiple downs to win the end game. Can't tell you how many times I had forced the survivors to end the game on a 3 gen because I guarded the right gens I needed to and hooked people in the center to keep them coming to me
People tell me that Ghostface is a better Pig. Yes, GF is more lethal in a sense, but I hate instant-downs and he doesn't have the stall potential of Pig.

Thats honestly what i think too, she's never useless and has the potential to snowball as well. Bigger maps are actually a double edge sword on her as well because of the boxes being so far apart. Where most killers suck at she can make a profit. Almost every pallet becomes a mindgame with her dash and not to mention it can do some pretty funky stuff in certain situations lol
I've destroyed 2 reds, a purple and a green as a green rank killer, but I think they were all solo's. And I don't play killer that much, so I'm a bit lower rank.
Coordination will actually destroy a Pig, in some ways more than other killers.
Also, STBFL is kinda gimmicky on Pig. I use Nurse's, BBq, Surveillance and Ruin.
-
She's DECENT, but not great. Somewhere in the middle, but can seem stronger when someone really understands her. Needs small buffs to parts of her stealth ability, like faster crouch walking or dash charge.
Super fun though.
Advice? Slug those with traps on if you run into them. Don't go out of your way though.

Yes they can. Do remember that 1 second isn't very long, and unless the Survivor procced a trap within a short period of time the sudden loss of a terror radius is a givaway of it's use outside of a chase.
Do remember though that a lunge is 0.6 seconds. So if they can hit you from invisibility then they were almost in normal lunge range anyways.
The 16 meter TR is because this Killer is fundumentally being balanced as a Stealth Killer. I am completely expecting them to be running M&A much like myers already does and to the same effect. The difference being that Myers eventually powers up and gets genuinely good chase potential. While this Killer just doubles down on the ambush playstyle, relying on them for hits even while in a chase.
Besides even if they couldn't what would the Survivor do anyways? There isn't a slowdown at the end so it would be like reacting to a Spirit when she exits her phase.
Maybe the stealth could be increased slightly. 2/3 seconds would probably be better since this killer has nothing outside of a small TR, and on maps like Hawkins they'll stand out like a sore thumb.
Or have a thing similar to Freddy how he is not visible at certain ranges.

As long as she's charging a blink you can lightburn her. Lore-wise it seems to do with being in the "Spirit World", which both Wraith and Nurse go through.

Yes, I've had that happen before at a pallet and I forgot it was even a thing! It's very uncommon.
And somehow the Spirit, who exists in both, isn't affected by this while Phasing.
-
16m TR base does seem kinda rough. Especially since Monitor is a thing. But they do also have zero chase potential. Can they attack in the short window that they are invisible? Asking because I can see huge potential in that and some survivors might be a bit annoyed about getting hit out of nowhere.

I think deranking is the best thing about ranked in this game. Anyways, you will be forced to get to green ranks as long as you do a generator and throw pallets around and perform heal/save and get lucky. I agree with stealth not getting enough rewards. I hate getting very little bp out of a game if i can just play legion and never depip while accumulating 40k bp with no downs.
Omfg, you have no idea how true that is about Legion.
He's 3rd on my list of most played killers, and I'm currently running all the BP gain. I have BBq, Hex Thrill, Monitor and Ruin. So much BP. Don't even have to kill.
And I'm actually in red, or still at rank 5 since I've hardly been on my xbox at all lately. Somehow I kept on ranking up.

This is very true. The good thing is you will get penalized by the emblem system. So you don't rank up and can get immersed with other newbies. The other good thing is you can mute the end lobby chat forever and spam next game. As long as you have fun, you got the value of your money.
Well, I play stealth and use the almighty power of high volume with a quality headset, and I've missed pips by ONE EMBLEM because stealth isn't rewarded highly enough.
It's a 50/50 split between singles and doubles before you ask. Depends on how much generator time/healing and saves I get.

I was way more excited hearing about Deathslinger or Oni as OC's.

I was referring to all the information perks that you get by playing SWF.
Killers just get to deal with straining their senses constantly in a game that's based heavily on assailing those senses, and people say, "But you can run a perk for that, lol!"
Yeah, I've been playing solo for the past 6 months so I don't count SWF.
As for the "There's a perk for that!" argument, all I'm going to say is everyone says the same thing for NoED. And tunnelling. And camping.
I agree that saying just use perk is a terrible justification, but in a sense that's the game we play. Perks modify the game to adapt to a player's preferences.

There have been a lot of times where an increased FoV has actually HURT me and not been beneficial. And I use Monitor and Abuse on quite a few killers, so I have comparisons in every game I play with it. That extra 8 degrees does actually squash a lot of things together, making some things look unnatural. I'm not playing on a small TV either, so there's no arguing that point.
One thing to also consider is that half the killers wear MASKS. This would obscure a lot more vision than the game lets on, and while that is more of a game mechanics vs. lore issue, it's still something to think about.

Not gonna lie, I agree. But since the game seems to be balanced around, "How can we assault the killers' senses?" it won't happen.
But yeah, FoV is a perk. So are a ton of information perks, but survivors get those for free. What can ya do.
Ummm, no it isn't. If it WAS then firecrackers would be the most common item in the game.
And all survivors have is information. They are literally playing an INFORMATION GAME and they're not for free. Bond is a teachable, Spine Chill is short range, Premonition is pretty meh and on a cooldown, Object of Obsession is (again) a teachable AND gives the killer info too. Yes, running is an important skill, but outside of that there is nothing to the survivor game except the information you have and how you use it.
The hated "second chance" meta build also uses zero information perks. In general though, outside of OoO the information given by survivor perks is limited at best. Even something like Empathy tells me "Oh, great. This INJURED SURVIVOR is getting chased on the opposite side of the map. Not much I can do there except expect them to go down soon."

Hag... Trap Camp?! What?... You mean placing a trap at the hook? The best way to find a new survivor? Keeping valuable pressure up? Getting a free slug if the injured doesn't get body blocked by the unhooker? I had a game as hag with 2 Yui OoOs, a bearded blue dwight with OoO, and a Blendette, 2 Decisive Strikes, 2 unbreakables, 2 BTs, one of them did that machine gun flashlight click thing, they ran through the traps at the right distance to prevent a hit, they tried the gen in your face sprint burst/sabo bully shenanigans.
You know what happened? The gens still got done, there was 3 of them that did near absolute jack, and the gens still got done, I had that whole team injured and "pressured" throughout the whole match, and those things still popped like pop-rocks, I killed them all, let the entity take the Blendette because the hooks near the gate were used for the others. The only reason I won that game at the end with two damn OoOs was because I placed a trap at hooks. Most stressful game of my life, got the 4k, and you know what else I got? Brutal killer. Because I looked at the time and the game lasted about 7 minutes. Gens done, hatch and gates closed and I got brutal killer for fighting through the dongs and slapping 3 Yui on some hooks and letting the Entity have his Blendy. Those survivors were probably laughing their asses off the whole time while I was sitting behind a screen shaking with murderous anxiety like a stressed out ravenous old hag that was let out of a basement for the first time in years (pun absolutely intended)
I mean when people place 3 at someone's feet.
As a solo player, it sucks to go against. There is NOTHING you can do, especially because having 3 OoO is extremely rare and just unlucky.
