  • Nurse is the hardest MECHANICALLY, but after you get that down, all you have to do is find someone and there are that many tracking perks it shouldn't matter.

Hag is actually the hardest to learn and master. You need to balance a somewhat limited resource, map knowledge, being a slower than average killer, essentially non-lethal power and mind-games. You have to know EVERYTHING. And don't have a secondary attack method.

Huntress is in a similar boat here, but the fact that you have a lethal ranged power that only requires slight reads and is mechanics based makes her less difficult in terms of overall management.

Honourable mention to the Pig as the most difficult STEALTH killer to master! She's such a toolbox killer that everything is in some ways slightly weaker than it probably should be. You also have a lot of stuff to balance, like the amount of couch time you use, when to use an RBT or standing up vs. dashing. Then you have to deal with people thinking you're either a memer and try to boop the snoot (don't please, I'm not a farming killer......) or assume you're a trap tunneller.

  • Ofmg grow up.

These aren't "rules" and half of these don't even exist or are not genuinely shown. Most of these are just "don't be a dickhead because I'm not to you." and just people who play survivor wishing to actually have half a chance to play a game that they too spend good money on.

Both games use Unreal Engine so it might be possible Gearbox is using some tech BHVR developed for Unreal that was used in DBD.

Also if we get anyone from Borderlands as a killer, we need Face McShooty.

    Best mission by far.

  • In those situations, I just go for the idiot that made the dumb save and just take a trade.

  • Are you regressing generators at all? Spooking survivors? Destroying fallen pallets?

Or are you just going after kills?

  • Best way to get a video on the forums is to upload it to Youtube then post the link and it should automatically have the video ready to play.

Good god, now I want a Borderlands chapter.

  • Alien or Predator would be my choices.

The Xenomorph Warrior form from the original Alien/Aliens would be so fun if done right.

I'd also love to see Mick Taylor from Wolf Creek in the game, but I don't know how you'd manage that one.

  • Tried F13 with a bunch of mates a while ago, back when we had a large and cosistently playing group. Found it to be pretty bad, then picked up DbD with a few of them a bit later. I've stuck around because I love the game, but none of them really play it.

We did some customs a while ago, and even trying to make terrible builds and not doing generators, I still dominated matches. They wouldn't even let me play killer.

    here is my usual scenario:

i get downed, trapped and hooked. usually a gen pops while im on hook / right after being trapped, so the trap is active from the get go (im solo so i cant just tell my team to hold a gen at 99% or sthg like that).

after being unhooked i go for boxes immediately. the amount of boxes / time required for each box / time my trap has is dependent on the killers add on choice ofc. during said box hunt, i get laughed at at all the boxes i check until there is only one left (cause luck based power and i am the unluckiest person in existance) - plus i got to avoid the killer who is also checking on boxes / looping a teammate around one, as i am injured and its easy to rehook me, which not only cuts my life down but also can end up wasting a lot of time.

all of that eats away on my time, and if the killer eigther interrupts my box search, got add ons that increase the search, has a tampered timer or just a huge map, ill die while searching through the last remaining box due to timing out - just sucks when thats my key box, doesnt at all matter when its not though.

i just hate how inconsistent her power is for both killer and survivor.

in general im not a fan of luck based powers, they are very inconsistent and not fitting for a competetive game such as DbD - its the main problem i have with my favourite killer (the Trapper), however for him its luckily just a small sideaspect of the power, allowing me to still enjoy him a lot - but piggys main power is literally build around that luck aspect, which is why i really dont like her.

Why are they patrolling boxes though? Unless they're desperate for a kill, or they're near the generators, there's no reason for it.

Sounds like you have my luck with Hags.

  • @Mister_xD said:

i hate going against her, but thats mainly due to how her RBTs work. (no offense to the character, i still love Miss Piggy - but i seriously hate how her power works)

every time i get trapped, the key is in the last f*cking box i check. every. single. time.

i have died to the timer countless times, just cause it was a big map and the time it took me to check all the boxes (combined with the killer being around ofc - and sometimes bringing add ons that would increase the search time, reduce the timer or just in general increase the amount of boxes) was more than 2.5 minutes...

and when i play her they all get the trap off of their head first or second try.

i hate luck based powers, and pig has exactly that.

i honestly just wish they would finally decie to buff her and while they are at it rework her RBTs to be consistant. something like "you get the key after checking X amount of boxes" would be enough - just let it be consistent so that i as a survivor know when i get rid of it, while i as a killer know my trap will not be removed within 10 seconds.

I've died to a Pig RBT ONCE and that was because I was forced to!

I can also count the amount of times I've had an RBT kill on one hand. And this is even with the fact that the highest killer rank I've ever been to is 8 due to a lack of commitment.

All I can do in this situation is question what you're doing when you have the RBT active, same with your team. If all these kills are happening on Ormund or the Red Forrest with Tampered Timer/Crate of Gears, then that's just bad luck. If it's on a smaller map without any Gears/Tampered Timer, then I'm wondering who's popping generators quickly or wasting time ignoring boxes.

That's what I do. If I encounter the trapped survivor I slug them and move on. Usually I'm in a chase and find them at a box. I'll veer slightly smack them down and go back to the chase.

As for the OP. I personally love facing Pig. If you don't get the camping tunneling Pig she's a blast to play against.

I feel the same way about going against Pig. As a Pig main, it's either an easy game or a reflection of my own play and a learning experience.

If it's a baby, it'll be one of the easiest games on the planet. If they're competent, then I'm interested to see what they can really do.

I wouldn't say good Hags CAMP. But if a trap is in the middle of their web in a 3 gen, then she won't leave the 40m radius. But she can generally get into a chase instantly after hooking in my experience, so she doesn't really camp, just that if you trigger her traps, she'll definitely come for you.

No, good Hag players don't use their traps to camp, but honestly find me a good Hag player on Xbox, within the Aus Sydney servers. They're more rare than non-hatch escapes against a Forever Freddy.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/158410/do-people-not-like-going-against-the-pig

    No, it's just some people.

Pig has a reputation for tunnelling and camping, so some people just don't like facing her because of previous bad experiences.

But if people are telling you to git gud or are telling you your killer choice is trash after 3k'ing it's probably more that they're just salty.

It's a fairly common thing as Killer, I'd advise you to ignore it or report it (if they start harassing you).

    @sulaiman said:

The pig has 2 things against her: First of, she is often used for camping and tunneling. Second, she gives solo survivors more opportunitys to be screwed over by their fellow survivors, especially swf, because they dont care if you make it out or not. but a lot of players have problems with stealth-killers.

Camping is more of a Wraith or Ghostface thing than a Pig thing, but yes, tunnelling is 100% a huge Pig problem. And it SUCKS for everyone else who never even looks at trapped survivors. The only time I interact with a trapped survivor is when we just happen to cross paths, and I SLUG them. That's the end of it, or if they heal, I'll whack them and keep going.

And I wouldn't say that she specifically screws solo players, even if I cream rainbow randoms with two reds as a green rank. But for me at least, I tend to thrive more on the chaos of solo-play on both sides. Good Pig players put the survivor team against each other (just like in SAW V!), and count a trapped survivor as basically removed from the game, limiting the playing field of how many survivors they have to deal with. If you, or your fellow survivors, are dumb enough to pop a generator when someone's trapped, then that's on you/them.

  • Are you running any of the Dash add-ons? I'm asking because if that's your preferred playstyle, then they're something to look at. Video Tape and Combat Straps are probably the most optimal way to get consistent and fast dashes off.

That being said, having Dash move a little faster would be nice. I'd rather an increase in crouch walking speed though, personally.

  • @Millerrules said:

Probably the DC penalties, and nobody would have THAT much commitment.

  • Sounds like they're just salty they lost or they've versed heaps of Tunnel Pigs.

Funny thing is I LOVE going against Demo for that reason! I can always tell where he is (as in not on me!) so I feel free to do whatever.

  • Billy, Bubba and Hag. Play as and against.

Cheesy instant-downs that require as much skill to use as completing a generator because somebody CBF to actually chase me or a kit that both promotes camping and makes it so that you may as well be dead on first hook.

Nurse and Huntress are kinda annoying to play as because console and for some reason whenever I play against GF, I can never detect him, yet survivors can detect me from across the map when I play as him.

  • Hot take: "Chase killers" are actually pretty braindead and boring to play or even go against because of their typical way to play.

Here's a Hillbilly, he's going to prioritise his saw. Here's a Nurse, she's going to blink behind the cover I'm at. Here's Plague and she'll just puke until broken.

Good survivors know how to work around slugging and insta-downs. There are perks for the former and strategies for the latter.

Killing survivors is the end-goal. Everything else - chases, damaging generators, using your power - is all for one singular purpose: to kill. That's why they're called "killers" and not "chasers" or "generator demolition men/women".

There is no way around skill. Either you have it or you don't. A mediocre killer with every single insta-down in the game will never be able to crush top-tier survivors the same way they would complete noobs.

Your solution is literally the same as "play worse". If a killer can end a chase in 30 seconds because the survivor is new, why should they be punished for it?

The whole "I'm a KILLER" argument is like asking why survivor isn't named Victim. Killers are killers because they have killed, and are attempting to do so still.

Killing is also the END goal, not the ONLY goal. I think that a lot of killers are simply forgetting that. My solution isn't play "worse" as you put it, but play smarter.

As for skill, it's not really something to bring up in the broad scope of things here. Am I a more skilled survivor for stealthing all game and never being detected than a guy who ran for 3 full generatora then got facecamped, because he died and I didn't? Is the killer better than him because they got the kill? There are too many grey areas for something like this to work.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1325467#Comment_1325467

What if you're a Pig who runs every insta-down perk ever (MYC, NOED, HG, Rancor) to put the fear of the Entity into the survivors?

Then you'd better be a god at tracking, because every time I've played Pig without detection or regression has been a nightmare.

  • There are 3 types of Pig players:

    - Those who trap-tunnel. Thanks for boosting the stats so we can't get the buffs we need and ruining our reputations, you idiots.

    - Memers. BoOp Da SnOoT! Seriously, you're the most torture-based killer in the game and you don't act in it.

    - True Jigsaw Disciples. If you have versed a good Pig, then you know. Once that first trap is placed, it's all downhill from there. One by one you will all cycle hooks until you're all dead. Frantically rushing to remove the trap or debating if you should complete the generator to give others time. Live or die, make your choice.

Oh, and also, CLAUDETTE is a damn fine survivor of the highest caliber, especially in her blackberry skirt and choice of school jacket. She is especially amazing when she is keeping out of the killer's sight and ON-POINT, always working on gens and unhooking her allies safely, never running Self-Care or Urban Evasion, never hiding in lockers, and showing her teammates that aggressive stealth can be a really strong and pip-rich play style.

I dd all that WITH Self-Care and the pants, not the skirt.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1325414#Comment_1325414

You can't kill quickly if the survivors are as good as you are. That's the whole point.

Ebony Mori is fine and is rarely used. However, if it were to become an issue with this change, I'm sure the devs would address it.

Ok, how about full slugging then? Or the rampant instant-downs? Why should someone be rewarded with a double-pip for doing only half the work? Why should campers be rewarded with a double-pip because nobody in the whole solo game was running Kindred or comms?

There are easy ways around this supposed "skill" factor and THAT is my issue with this idea. I also gave my solution, which is playing the game, not the end screen.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1325399#Comment_1325399

You're missing the point. If you completely destroy the survivors as a killer, that means either your rank is too low, or your opponents' was too high. Therefore, you should rank up and the survivors should rank down, so you can both get closer to facing opponents of equal skill.

Ok, so here's how it relates to the point: killing quickly should not be incentivised, and there are too many ways around having a good, long game as a killer.

Also, the Ebony Mori is already a huge issue and THIS idea will only make it worse, as they'll now be the optimal way to rank up.

  • There are a multitude of ways that you can just slaughter a team before anything gets done. It also prioritises what I believe to be the most important part of the killer's game: SUFFERING. Your job is literally to make the survivors suffer and go through hell. Killing them should be a reward, not a right.

As it stands, the emblem system rewards you for playing ALL FACETS of the game in question, which is why survivors can rank up very easily. Killers, yes, have to juggle a little bit more, but the survivors are punished by the gen-rush too, even to the point where I have de-ranked within a 4-Man escape. I tend to do well with the current ranking system because it both aligns with my personal playstyle AND I understand what it wants from me.

Use less instant-downs, occasionally slug when there's 3-4 survivors still alive tactically, don't let them die easily, ensure regression of generators even if it means NOT taking a chase.

Start playing the GAME rather than the "main objective" and you might start getting more consistent Ruthless/Merciless. And that goes for all killers who read this!

  • I think that we're more likely to get something from the Lovecraftian Universe, or even an SCP, rather than a generic Creepypasta.

Most popular one I can think of is that painfully bad "Jeff the Killer" story. Even then, I just point at the Legion and go "THEY'RE BETTER WRITTEN CHARACTERS!" and just leave it there.

The killers within Dead by Daylight are actually somewhat relatable. Evan turning out just like his father, Sally snapping after years of mental abuse from dealing with crazy all the time or even Caleb being wronged all his life because of racial prejudices. But Creepypasta characters? No. Not in the slightest.

And THAT is what separates a good horror villain to me: "Can I relate to them or understand their motivations?"

  • Every time I bring one, the killer turns out to be super toxic. ALWAYS.

  • @Hag.is.Dtier said:

    You’re here. Welcome.

Contribute respectfully and this community will embrace you.

Sometimes this statement is debatable, but yes. Being respectful does normally help.

  • The only way that I use a "mori" is with 5 Stacks of Devour Salt or Rancor. I've used an Ivory for a daily too, but I don't take them into my normal games. If I can't kill a survivor by hooking them, then I don't deserve the kill. When not playing with Devour..... chill.....

As for the whole "power trip" thing with the Ebony is that it's just too far an imbalance on both sides to include with any ranking system, since survivors are forced to either rush through their objective, infuriating a killer further, and basically being a sweat-fest for the survivors to reach a safety pip, or just hide out and hope for hatch watching everyone else get picked off like it's a match of F13.

  • It happens on both sides. Nothing new here.

  • It's a part of his Madness powers, specifically the Discipline family of add-ons. If you're coming across a lot of these, I actually suggest running Spine Chill or just looking over your shoulder to see if the large, glowing madman is still chasing you.

  • Having a forced meta shift is actually a terrible idea. Want proof? Look at Overwatch when it changed character stats and values more often than anyone could keep up with, or just destroyed the entire Tank class because people FINALLY played the game how they wanted people to initially.

To me, the meta Survivor perks are forced by (some) killers not being punished for, and justifying, camping/tunnelling/mass slugging and all that lovely stuff that everyone except them hates. DS also isn't worse than what it was before. It's also funny how people keep mentioning this "Survivor second-chance meta" and I have seen the supposed build all of about 5 times. At red ranks. But I'm also on Xbox so things might be a little different.

Killer perks are also a bit more killer specific than your post seems to let on. The whole "gen-rush" thing is actually also an issue for survivors, with reds being able to barely pip within the confines of a normal game, or all dying to over-altruism. The issue with BBq is that it both A) gives off fantastic information and B) helps with the fact that regularly playing killer is a VERY BP taxing thing, since a lot of killers are very dependent on having add-ons, and high rarity ones depending on the killer. This BP tax for killer is something that should possibly be addressed.

  • Self-Care is a guaranteed way to heal with no true limitations. It is also mathematically the same as having someone else heal you in terms of team time, since it is twice as long, but half the people.

Inner Strength is reliant on totems, which one cannot always find. Med-kits have limited charges and can be countered by Franklin's. You aren't 100% guaranteed to find someone while using Bond.

The fact that it is a Claudette teachable is also huge, considering she is one of the best survivors for those wishing to play a stealth build. Combined with Botany Knowledge or Resilience, it can also be pretty effective. You can 99 the healing, then just finish up when you hear/see the killer is coming.

  • Swap Iron Grasp for A Nurse's Calling for sure.

Here's my Pig build that you can take inspiration from: Ruin, Surveillance, Nurse's and BBq.

  • In a word: No.

It seems somewhat alright to learn a killer, but if you're above rank 15, this probably won't cut it.

Ruin can be good, but being a stealth killer, you actually have to prioritise generator protection over chases quite a bit.

Iron Grasp is just a worse Agitation. The movement speed and TR increase are hidden unless you're trying to notice them.

Sloppy CAN be good if you're doing a more strike and fade approach, or especially if you're running A Nurse's Calling. Probably keep this one.

And do NOT get me started on NoED, especially since you have unlimited Exposed as a stalker.

  • @Almo said:

I am about half of the balance team! Suggestion noted. :)

To be honest, I think lowering the overall volume of his screams would do more for it.

Demogorgon is so easy to go up againat because I can always tell where it is. Chasing someone else? Screams. Pallet stun? Different scream. Teleports? Different sound effect. And I'm on the other side of the map hearing these.

The freedom I get knowing that he isn't likely to go against me is pretty ridiculous.

  • Pig is fantastic to play in terms of fun, and also more at mid-ranks.

That being said, it also is a case of what your usual killer pool is like.

A lot of nurse add-ons DEFINITELY hinder her.

Both red add-ons are garbage, the 3-blink one is almost useable on maybe autohaven maps.

Spasmodic breath is just... what. You're giving up your entire power, the best chase ability in the game, to play like the most basic M1 killer for 60 seconds.

The bloodpoint add-on also shortens her lunge distance.

So basically she has 4 terrible add-ons, and the rest are either meh or decent. The distance add-ons are still the best, they actually give you even more distance now compared to before, it just takes a while to charge. Honestly she has a lot of really cool add-on combinations and builds that I don't see many people talk about.

Funny thing is also that Pig's add-ons are in a similar boat. Half of them actively hinder you in some way, like giving MORE skill-checks or RS2 OR are just straight up useless, like Hemorrhage or Exhausted with an RBT.

Even the "useful" ones are meh. The Gears family are somewhat dependent on survivors NOT getting the first box, and similar story with Tampered Timer with generators being complete. Last Will gives me another trap, buuuuuut I could easily be gen-rushed and have half of them be useless. More boxes? More chances of that first box key AND one of them increases the RBT death timer!

The only consistently helpful add-ons are the 3 Dash add-ons to me, and even then, you're relying on not facing good Spine Chill or Sprint Burst users. At least with Nurse's add-ons you know EXACTLY what gou're getting in to, where as most Pig add-ons are further dice rolls, but sometimes with better odds.

  • Looks like you got really Unlucky!

Bad jokes aside, this is why I always have perks for my killers before playing them or take advantage that additional accounts on Xbox are free for practice.

  • Ruleset No. 2

Unless the survivors are total idiots, then you're actively forcing survivors ONTO GENERATORS, which is the exact opposite of what you want, unless you want to be called a tunneller.

I get what people say about the Nurse add-ons, but her add-ons don't actively hinder the player like RS2 does.

For survivors, the Tombstone add-ons suck, especially with no minimum stalk requirement to kill.

But for one of THEIR add-ons, the green Med-Kit one that increases healing speed at the cost of 8 charges to the Med-Kit. Unless I'm running Self-Care and Streetwise for efficiency. In which case why am I running this Med-Kit with those perks? I can just ditch the kit and run Botany instead of Streetwise and heal myself in a better manner.

Killers are more unique than the different Jason variants, but Survivors are less unique with the only stats for Survivors being physical size and moan/scream volumes.

F13 is also if you're caught, you're dead. DbD is a more competitive focus and much more enjoyable for me. Bigger playerbase too.
