I hate him. He is everything that I dislike about killer within a killer except for his mobility.
My personal distain aside, he's strong and possibly borderline OP. The fact that his power can 100% replace his weapon is a terrible thing to me, especially combined with the """cooldown""" that he supposedly has. Leatherface has his Tantrum mechanic, and Hillbilly has nothing similar WITH MOBILITY.
I'm personally in two minds about him being so easy to play, or at least learn, and being one of the most powerful killers in the game IF you base it off kills. It's great that a baseline character is able to do well in higher levels if play, but it's also the one with an instant down.
Add-ons like Carb Tuning Guide also put a majority of iridescent add-ons to shame. As a Pig main, both of mine actively hinder me in some way, where a green add-on is all buffs.
I don't play that much Hillbilly, but I've versed him more times than I have refused people sevice at work and I've been at my job for 5 years, while playing Dead by Daylight for about two. I'm also a red ranked Surv unless a reset has recently hapoened if any of that is needed for my opinion.

If we REALLY wanted to go down this road, then Bubba wearing Jake's face could also be considered racist as Jake is partly Asian.
Suzie and Anna could also be done in for cultural appropriation too with their Lunar New Year skins.
If people are so sensitive about this sort if thing, then maybe a game where the goal for one team is to enact the slasher movie audiences' desires on the cast isn't a game for them.
-
Here's a perk that one of my brothers came up with:
Panic Attack
While you have the EXPOSED status effect, or versing a "Chainsaw" killer, you move 4/5/6% faster
Nope. Not doing it. I'm outta here! - Dwight (probably)
-
The thing is, and I did cover this in my thread The Legion Problem, is that he's balanced around the Pip system rather than the community-preferred kill based perceptions. Legion is without a doubt one of, if not, the EASIEST killer to rank up with even if you don't get many kills.
Legion's strength isn't in their ability to secure kills, it's being able to continually and consistently harass survivors all game.

The killer ran 3 perks the whole match though. He handicapped himself. Plus, as you stated, its easily countered by doing bones.
I did the bones. I still got hit by this dumb perk because a killer can't actually complete a chase normally.
Maybe if the killer ran a perk that worked all game, then they wouldn't have to lean on a badly designed crutch. I could also say a similar thing about killers who use Corrupt Intervention playing with only 3 perks, but people praise that one.
Or how about a survivor's comparison? Adrenaline, perhaps? I spend all game with three perks for a small, temporary boost. It lasts for THREE SECONDS, doesn't guarantee anything and you know when it's been activated. It's not hidden like NoED.
Adrenaline also requires that the survivor either completes their objective or lasts long enough for the endgame to start, while NoED says "lose badly, but be lucky that survivors aren't lucky or are idiots" and you almost get handed free kills, or you're in such a dominant state that there is literally no need for the perk. I hate both perks, but at least Adrenaline rewards the user for doing something right.

Do you not like whispers on pig? Guarantees you'll never be crouchwalking for no reason, ofc it was better when her terror radius was smaller...
Ruin, Surveillance, Nurse's and BBq. Only build I've ever needed. Tried Whispers before Nurse's, back in the days of old Ruin and hatch stand-offs. Didn't help in the slightest for a majority of my games. Still doesn't.
-
Adrenaline.
Sprint Burst effect and maybe a heal AT THE ENDGAME. Let me just play the entire game with only 3 perks for a once-only small boost. Sure, I could clutch out a chase against a killer and be able to run them for a bit longer, but NoED has infinite duration and a smart killer might decide that gates are actually more important right now.
Dead Hard.
Never works. Either extends a chase by all of two seconds at most, unless you've planned out everything with a pallet nearby or can be used to bait out and possibly confuse newer killers in the lower ranks.
Unbreakable.
If I'm slugging you, I WANT you to use your Unbreakable. I'm wasting time with you eating dirt.
Whispers.
I have found this perk only useful on Doctor to use with Static Blast. That is it. I know that it's meant to be good tracking, but it really doesn't work for me.
Corrupt Intervention.
I don't immediately rush for a generator. I instead look for totems, and possibly a chest. Locking down some generators at the start is a huge waste of a perk to me because it's again, a one-use-only perk, and doesn't affect me that much considering my main goal now isn't strictly generators. Especially since the whole "gen-rush" thing negatively affects both sides. I perform better, and rank up faster, by playing in a solo setting and playing in longer games. Corrupt literally helps me do better as a survivor.
Quick & Quiet.
The killer is going to be looking at you half the time. No real point in using the perk then now, is there?

So I'm noticing that many of us play the Pig... So can I get the builds you use and your playstyle?
Surveillance, Ruin, Nurse's and BBq
Add-ons are generally John's Medical File, Video Tape or Combat Straps.
Protect. Your. Generators. Take a chase if you find someone, but gen defence is priority one. Generally use dash for a first hit.
Ignore trapped survivors unless they literally run into you, then just slug them. Slugging one person occasionally also helps heaps.

honestly spine chill shouldn't work while in undetectable statue, like.. you're suppose to be undetectable..why does this perk still work?
It is literally the only thing that works against Undetectable.
As for the OP's question, here's a bit of maths to show why people prefer Whispers 3. Base TR is 32m, with M&A reducing it to 24m. You have an 8m window with Whispers 3 or a 16m window with Whispers 3 and your walking speed is reduced in crouch, so the extra distance means a fair bit more time.
I personally don't like the combo and like TR baiting for mindgames, but that's just me.

Trust me, as a killer we know. You can tell who’s not helping the team, generally, by their movements and position. BBQ is a big piece of this, if every time I hook someone I see one person hiding in a corner not even near any gens that’s a big giveaway.
If someone is a good looper and doesn’t teabag, for some reason I feel really really good about giving that guy/girl the hatch.
I kinda don't see who's getting the good unhooks and healing, but I also play Pig and focus in generator protection.
I let my score speak for itself though, and I always prefer to earn a hatch, rather than be given it.
-
I myself never feel "entitled" to the hatch. I do however, feel that sometimes I have earned it, considering that I'm normally making good saves, healing where possible, hunting totems and all that stuff that I'm meant to do. UNFORTUNATELY the killer doesn't see me do all that, so they must assume that I'm another "Blendette" even though I just play stealth, or a random biker Kate with a meme build, or even a tryhard P3 Yui.
-
In a sense, my main aim is to annoy the killer in a non-toxic fashion. If I suspect they have Surveillance, or just want to guard a particular generator, I'll use the skills that I've developed playing stealth to just outright annoy them to no end by tapping the generator and moving away. Or make a save as soon as they're out of TR range. Small things like that.
-
This game does probably need more in the balancing department to account for SWF, rather than purely solo play. A clear goal within games would also be nice, even if it is just the devs saying LOOK AT THE PIP SYSTEM, DO THAT.
There is also the issue of those who play only one side or rarely play the other side and don't really consider their point of view. Some of these opinions are more detrimental to the game than any other opinion shared.
Reviewing older perks and powers/killers similar to the Freddy and Doctor reworks would also be nice, as some of the earliest stuff from the seem kinda lacklustre compared to some of the newer stuff. The only other thing I could say is making very niche perks very strong at the one thing they do. Soul Guard does seem more like a step in this direction, while a perk like Camaraderie are too limited in what they do for the little reward they offer. One change I'd suggest is having Breakdown work for when you unhook, as well as being unhooked or have them sabotaged for a VERY long time.

Interesting facts about me huh?
Well then, you asked.
I'm 23 and have never moved houses at time of post.
I have two younger brothers. The middle one is 20 months younger than me and the youngest is 5 years after the middle one.
I have only 5 cousins, but only 3 of them are actually related by blood.
My first video game was Crash Team Racing on the PS1. Favourite series is either Ratchet & Clank or Telltale's Walking Dead.
I currently hold a black belt in Shotokan Karate, and trying to get ready for my 2nd Dan (ranks within black belt!) while also working towards a black belt in kickboxing.
I used to play bass guitar with a band, but stopped playing after the band split up because life got in the way.
I'm basically addicted to Warhammer 40,000 and have spent more money on it than I could have on a new car. Once I get a free day, I'll try to get them all out and post a thread with all of them. All 30,000+ points of them.
I haven't had a haircut in over a decade, and now have a majestic ponytail longer than most females I know.
My first job was in a laser tag centre at the age of 15. I was awesome.
I was one of the first recipients of the Grey Wolf award from Cub Scouts. I'm in Australia, so it might be a bit different for everyone else.
Love playing Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder. Favourite character was my Warlock that I played in Curse of Strahd.
Might just leave it at that for now.
Thanks @toxicnancymain for tagging me.

Yeah. Increased crouching speed, and maybe the ability to move (at a slowed rate) while charging the dash?
That'd help for sure.

Secondary attack methods have never worked with NoED. It just so happens that half of them are instant-downs.

Hahaha , I understand those salty moments of other people. It's better to save yourself than other people when they believe their "saveable"
Ironically I've had more times where I'm nearly screaming into my headset for them to ditch me, but there's no voice chat and I don't do party chats with randoms. Too many squeakers and toxic people over random Xbox parties.
-
I just love the ones that say "YOU COULD HAVE SAVED ME!" when they're on the other side of the map with the killer near by, or three of them on hooks/ground with NoED active, or a camping killer.
Sorry-not-sorry, but you dead boo. I am NOT risking my neck and giving the killer another kill because you think there's half a chance.

I know how you feel about the polarising thing there. I don't think that I'll ever be "Trusted" because of it, and in some ways I feel like there's less pressure because of it.
-
Well, here's a set questions to go with this then:
Will there now be 8 generators that spawn on a map? There are currently 7 spawn for 5 complete, to avoid killers camping out specific generators. This is also where the 3-Gen strat comes into play.
If a killer leaves the distance then walks back, do the survivors keep the buff or the timer is reset?
Could the person within said radius actually be trying to go for a save and not realise that the killer is nearby, therefore punishing their team? We've all had THOSE camping Wraiths.
Generators are already super slow in low ranks, unless you have a smurf-squad, so won't this just further the problems within those ranks?
These are just all questions that need to be asked when proposing ideas like this.

@TWiXT said:
NOED isn't a crutch perk that "rewards lazy killers", instead it "rewards killers for survivors laziness". It takes 12 seconds to cleanse a dull totem, and 4 survivors can cleanse a totem at any given time during the match they are not being chased. If only 1 survivor cleanses all 5 totems, that takes only 1 minute of time away from doing gens, but since any survivor can cleanse a totem and if they all cleansed totems every time they saw one, the most totems a survivor on the team would have to cleanse is 2. Considering how frequent NOED is played, there's literally no reason to risk the endgame by ignoring the totems, "Do bones" and NOED can't affect your team. Ignoring a dull totem in favor of doing a gen is just being lazy while speeding up how soon NOED will activate and wipe us all out. Do Bones, ya lazy turds!
As the one that always does the bones, yet is almost always the one to get hit with NoED, I completely disagree with this statement.
If I get a map where they aren't as hard to spot as my Claudette, then I'll easily get 3 bones before I have to get some generator work done for Lightbringer to maintain my rank at least.
I did EXACTLY what killers say and I still get punished. My experience is the very thing that disproves the "Do bones" excuse.
-
Hillbilly and Leatherface are straight up terrible characters.
Not that they're not powerful, but base-kit instant downs are bad enough on Myers, GF and Oni have to work for theirs.
Also, doing half the chase does not make you anywhere near the killer that others are who play other killers. Two hits and 10+ hooks to get a 4k is a better show of kill than just seeing 4 skulls.
NoED is in need of a full rework and punishes solo players who were unlucky more than SWF gen-rushers. It is badly designed and if you need it to secure kills, then you don't deserve them.
A quick game is NOT a good game in DbD. The drawn out hunt is way more exciting than rushing through everyone. Same goes as a survivor. I prefer to hide and avoid the killer more than rush them.
Huntress is a WAY better middle-ground for balance than any other killer. All of her benefits have equal drawbacks and she's as good as the player controlling her.

Sorry I'm French, by slug you mean down them and let them on the ground?
Yep. "Slugging" is defined as leaving someone in the dying state.
Most people do it to force out the last survivor, rather than risking the hatch, but I tend to use it more when there's still 3 or 4 survivors to apply pressure or waste an Unbreakable.
It may be unfun to have happen to you, but there's more of a chance you can still play the game, rather than be removed because of a camper or tunneller.
-
Sounds like you need to expand your perk pool a bit more.
Unfortunatley for killers, they kinda rely on each others teachable perks. It does feel like you need either Hex: Ruin or Pop Goes the Weasel to slow survivors from completing their objective too quickly.
-
Here's the main issue with the current matchmaking from what I've heard. And please, spread the word if you could.
Matchmaking will prioritise people of a similar rank, as it should. IF some bright spark leaves the lobby, the matchmaking will expand the parameters slightly in an attempt to fill in the gap quicker. More leavers, the wider the gap. So, once again we can blame lobby-dodgers for a terrible time rather than the devs!

The one who said I have a choice to tunnel or not? If they unhooked on my watch, and I can't find the unhooker, what should I do? Let's pretend I didn't see this injured Feng running?
SLUG THEM. Like I said in my first comment on here! The tactical slug is a useful tool that people get less pissed-off with, especially compared to camping or tunnelling.
Just don't do it when there's 2 people left. Survivors WILL wait out the bleed-out timer.
-
Maybe I should do a thread about how BOTH sides are punished by bad plays from each other and tell everyone to stop being idiots.
-
As killers we always have the CHOICE of targeting that player, and attitudes like yours are why survivors are running DS all over the place.
IF they so happen to run into you or you can't find anyone else, just slug them and either waste the team's time healing or them waste Unbreakable. It is not that hard. They also appreciate it way more.
-
Mechanically no. It's more about mind-games, game sense and map knowledge.
Also being a 110 killer has thrown me off after playing 115's the game before, so that's something to consider.

Oh right I can just go play Nurse a killer that is slower than survivor, big brain time. (she happens to be also one of my fav)
You should get them. Jeff is basically Jesus with a metal shirt, and Discordance is a good perk to have if you haven't got it out of the shrines yet. That and there's something sadistically fun about stabbing survivors some twenty-odd times before downing them.
-
Asking if the chainsaws really need to be one-shot powers and how them being so easy to pull off, especially compared to Myers' stalking just really isn't all that great a design choice.
People really don't like it when you explain how only doing half the chase makes you half the killer they think they are.
I still have not changed my stance on the matter. The current chainsaws are too easy to pull off at most ranks, and shouldn't be an easy base-kit instant down.
-
Play Legion but only hit them with Feral Frenzy. Maybe get some hooks in there too. I can 100% guarantee you that it's entirely possible to get easy Merciless without killing anyone.
Run BBq, Hex: Thrill, Distressing and Beast of Prey.
Just farm the ever-living hell out of all the survivors. Job done.

I agree on the ponytail. In real life, a ponytail like Janes would be bouncing when you're running. Not be stiff like a twig like it currently is.
I would love a happy medium. Just look at Kates default hair and compare it to Janes Rift hair, you see a big difference in movement. At the very least ponytails should be more flexible just because it's simply more realistic. Although I don't think they have plans to change it unfortunately, at least right now.
They hardly bounce at all for me. But then again, I don't really run that much.
There has also been coding issues before, like with Kate's hair and aura readings. If it was coded to be realistic, then we'd be seeing Kate's default hair flying into her eyes quite a bit. Same with Yui.
My guess is that it'll stay the same way for the foreseeable future, as it's easier to manage a more still-image version of the hairstyles than the more active, free-moving ones.
-
I hate the current iteration of Ruleset No. 2, as it promotes people with an RBT on to work on generators in order to reveal the auras.
SO! Let's punish them for it instead.
- Disables the Survivors' ability to see the Auras of Jigsaw Boxes while their Reverse Bear Trap is active.
The other one I'd look at changing is Huntress' hatchets and it is literally just giving it a minimum range.

I am just utilizing a game mechanic to have fun, however they feel is of no concern to me. I dont "try" to "lol" over it, I do! I find it funny how serious someone can take a game, just move on to the next match, or close the app and find something else to do if it bothers you that bad.
They bought this game to have fun too, but people like you don't allow that for ANYONE other than yourself.
You played poorly and somehow got rewarded for it in your statistics and got rightfully flamed. Ruining the reputation of a killer, and the whole killer playerbase, is not something to parade around the way you have. Even if they have said stuff that they clearly shouldn't.
I'm not supporting the survivors here in any way, but let's be real. You're FAR from being innocent in this.

no not at all, i played the match in a way that i have fun, just so happens that they didn't. I hate getting stabbed 45 times from legion, but dont react like this to it, i give a gg wp and move on.
They shouldn't have acted the way they did, but to be fair neither should you.
You have actually taken the lowest of the low in terms of strategies and used it with a killer who's already got a heavily negative reputation for people using said tactics. Playing like this only increases the "Us vs. Them" mentality that is already plaguing this community heavily. The fact that you also have kills with this also takes away from the fact that killers DO need help when they use legitimate means of getting kills and playing the game as intended, since the devs have proven before that they seem to care more about in-game statistics than player feedback. Especially with regards to characters like my beloved Pig, who has a notorious playerbase of tunnelling people with traps.
Survivors are also currently facing longer queue times than any killer, and you're now telling them that they're going to spend most of a now extremely limited game time looking at you, while hanging on a hook, because you "find it fun". Can you at least understand their frustration? Can you empathise with what they're saying? Probably not, but it's something to bring up.
Maybe if more killers realised how much more fun the hunt is, then this entire community would be in a better position.
-
As someone with a permanent ponytail, they don't move that much. Especially not Kate's flowing hair stretching and windmilling over a full screen. Mine barely moves when I move my head, and it's longer than most people's.

-
Speaking from personal experience, people automatically assume that a Legion player has Discordance equipped. Ever since Darkness Among Us, survivors have split up doing generators to avoid being detected by the perk. They've then all discovered how effective it is after it, especially with the popularity of Nurse, Spirit and Hillbilly.
-
Just making sure the killer isn't chasing me any more.
PWYF and Legion's FF are not counted in this because PWYF is more of a spook and a stack, and FF is designed to get multiple survivors.
-
Dying is OK. You don't have to escaoe every game to be a good survivor.
Play both sides, so you get into the mindset of both.
Avoid bright clothing until you can loop effectively. I'm not saying to become a Blendette, but just don't take an obvious piece of clothing if you can't hold the killer off for a good while.
As for characters to learn/level up first, I'd say Dwight, Claudette or David King since they're all base game (Lullaby for the Dark is a free DLC) and all their perks have some use.
Dwight - Bond is good to find other people for healing or tracking who's getting chased. Prove Thyself is also fantastic for getting some extra BP and working on generators quickly which is kinda needed in lower ranks.
Claudette - All her perks are related to healing. Only perk that can easily and consistently heal yourself too.
David King - Dead Hard is a good exhaustion perk, but I prefer Lithe. We're Gonna Live Forever is also fantastic for getting extra early XP.
