idk spine chill with bond to me seems kind of usless because you can see the person getting chased around and if you hear the terror radius getting louder and the surviver is going away its obvious.

The killer can always break off a chase, and Spine Chill is just great in it's own right. It just so happens that the two can combine in this way.

  • For survivor, I'm actually a Yui main at the moment. I got her to Pres 3, and now just trying to get all of her perks, but she came out AFTER I joined the forums and I mained Claudette at the time.

Killer? Pig. Love her and everything she has. Other than that, Doctor and Legion.

  • Depends on how you use it. I personally use Bond with Spine Chill to tell me if someone's getting chased near me or if it's time to GTFO.

  • Perfectly tipping a Pig's Ambush attack and getting the down. Half a second later, and the attack would have missed kind of perfect tipping.

  • I'd say that no, it wasn't a win. If anything they had a draw, or just didn't loose.

If there was say, a single generator left then sure it could be classified as a win. But the team got destroyed and they got lucky with being able to escape.

I think you've misinterpreted what I was saying...

Only using ONE as soon as you can is what I was getting at

If you use any more you have less stall potential later on...

Some survivors have waited for all RBT's to be used then pop 3-4 gens within 15-20 seconds (give or take) of the last person removing their RBT

Yeah, it's more the hitting everyone before getting a down part. The first down is important and you can't waste time injuring everyone.

  • @RaSavage42 said:

First @PigMainClaudette can you point out anything I say wrong (seeing that we have different playstyles)

    1) Trap the first survivor you down. Then don't worry about that survivor unless you see an opportunity or they get the trap off... Survivors will likely have another gen near competed as well

    2) Don't use all of your trap at the start use that one ^^^ then wait for a gen to be completed then trap the next survivor... don't be afraid to hit all survivors before the first down. That'll help you out even more in the early game

    3) DON'T CHASE AN ACTIVE TRAP... at all... but if you can get a hit/ down it's fine

    4) Be sure to use all yer trap before the last gen is started... EGC has taken her down hard

    5) Perk builds are also important use perks that cover some of her weakness

Disagree with point 2, but the rest is fine. You need that first down really quickly to apply pressure with the RBT.

Maybe they should qualify that as the worst steath Killer at stealth?

As in her Crouch isn't very strong and her real abilities are her ambush attack for anti-loop and her RBT's for stall.

Depends on if you're using the default red cloak or not. Her dash would also be the equivelant for how Spirit and Wraith gain a speed boost after coming out of their respective abilities in that sort of comparison though.

  • @Yung_Slug said:

I'd say she's the weakest stealth killer, but she's still decent.

    What?

Are you forgetting Wraith's existence? One good build does not mean that a character is strong.

  • Good IF you can get an early down and start slowing the game with her RBT's.

NEVER target a helmeted survivor, unless like @Dead_by_Gadfly said, to tactically slug them. They have their own issue to worry about, rather than generators.

Just remember that you have no true mobility options, and less movement than the average killer when crouched. Experienced survivors WILL rush you down because of this too.

  • Physically? Yes, but there's a good saying for guys that does involve crazy.

But yeah, pre-Legion Julie is certainly a possibility. Would certainly take an interest.

  • I proved on stream how Self-Care CAN be used effectively.

Current build is Resilience, Spine Chill, Lithe and Self-Care. 99'ing Self-Care gives me Resilience AND my preferred two health states.

Also, "efficiency" with the survivor objective actively harms everyone. You can rush me as killer for a 3 minute game, but we're ALL going to de-rank because of it.

  • Pretty normal story for me.

I haven't devoted THAT much time to killer, so I'm kinda towards the lower ranks with my highest ever being Rank 8 before the Ruin rework. Gonna play a lot more killer now in stream. I'm not great, but I'm no potato.

Whenever I've had early DC's or hook suicides, I'll usually let the last one (or the nicest, who I'll try to keep alive) have the hatch as kind of a "Sorry your team suck, I'm not going to punish you for it".

  • I stopped using it because it was getting kinda annoying trying to run a perk that I hoped I wouldn't have to use, that and when I used it FOR IT'S INTENDED PURPOSE, people still targeted me anyway.

While I also hate tunnelling with an absolute passion, even respecting DS without an obsession as practice and respect for my fellow players, if someone abuses the power of it like someone did on stream against me by going for the risky save, then I will go after them for it. I will punish them.

  • I personally despise it, and while on a technical level it is "fair" to target an injured person it isn't exactly an enjoyable experience for both sides. If you are really that desperate for some damn pressure, then it either isn't your game and you're about to be destroyed anyway or you may as well slug and waste either the team's time or the other person's Unbreakable.

  • Infantry belt is A problem when it comes to Iri heads, but it's not THE problem.

If the devs want to keep Belt and Iri head working together, then they need to add a minimum effective range, so you aren't running around with basically Exposed all game. We already have Hillbilly and Bubba for that.

  • @Madjura said:

Hypothetically, if a dev or a forum mod broke the forum rules and using the Flag option does nothing then it could help to write to the support.

This is a purely hypothetical scenario and I am not saying that such a thing has ever happened before.

You could also contact MandyTalk on Discord directly regarding your purely hypothetical scenario.

But what happens if MANDY is the one trolling?

  • I prefer to hunt, so Hillbilly. Having the mobility to move around the map and pallet baits wjth the saw make him feel better to me. That and accidental snipes are HILARIOUS.

I hate them both, but Hillbilly feels more like an actual killer.

  • @Bundesgraenzschutz said:

Facecamping sucks. I think we all can agree on that. When you see them near the Hook, they got chased down or at least injured. If they are already injured: Let them unhook , so the Change places, or grab them for the next Hook. But honestly i've Seen some really dumb unhooks recently. Like: survs are chased by the Killer (after they ran practically into in) and got for the unhook without BT. And since there was no Obsession, No DS. See this as Survivor and Killer.

Yeah, I'm occasionally guilty of this but sometimes you feel like you don't have a choice to save them at all because the other survivor(s) can't.

  • You are literally penalised for staying near hooks, in both emblems and bloodpoints. Not to mention the mountains of hate that you will get. And seriously, if you see someone, CHASE THEM. DOWN THEM. HOOK THEM.

You wanted a discussion, yet seem to disregard any opinions or statements that disagree with you. Your little opening also makes you seem like an entitled killer who believes that the game should revolve around their role. As it stands, you're in the lower ranks where people don't know the game, or the mechanics. Half of your opponents will have zero perks and unless they're smurfs, you will simply dominate in a majority of games. There is NO NEED to be using such an underhanded tactic, especially if you don't enjoy it.

People will tell you to "play YOUR way" or to "do what you find fun", and honestly I am actually going to say that here, even though I find camping and tunnelling (targeting one specific person off hook) to be utterly deplorable. Do what YOU want and have fun with it. Low rank killer can be really fun because of how dominating you can be!

  • Well, you're talking about affecting a 3rd party program, and it's also easy enough for a console player such as myself to use Discord on a laptop rather than Xbox Party Chat and bypass it entirely.

    In short then, absolutely not.

In a bit longer, there is no way at all that you would legally be able to block off a 3rd party program or website and even if you could there are just way too many ways to ignore it entirely and still gain the benefits, even if it would be slightly harder to make it all work. There would be too many issues with trying to implement something like this on a programming level alone for what little "benefit" some people would get out of this.

  • As someone who plays on console, and on Xbox specifically, I severely disagree with a large portion of this list.

All of the stealth killers have no real benefit from being on console, and as someone who plays a lot of them, that's saying a lot. Switch is capped at 30fps, and even then it really doesn't effect the LARGE MAN WITH A BLEACHED WHITE MASK or Pig and her BRIGHT RED coat.

Spirit is easily the BEST killer on console for getting kills overall. She's about the same difficulty.

Plague has an easy enough projectile to aim, even if you can't swivel it as quickly as on PC.

Legion was THE TOP rated killer for console for quite a while, and besides the occasional auto-aim issues, I've had zero problems playing them.

Hillbilly and Oni are about the same, if not better, since while you don't have flicks like PC players, you have an easier time swerving.

Pyramid Head is about the same, since it's not about snapping to a specific point and using Judgement of the Damned.

Huntress, Nurse and Deathslinger I do agree with, as they do all require some pretty precise aiming.

Survivors already expect you to let them escape.

After all, that's what the hatch is for, yet another 2nd chance for survivors to escape. It serves no purpose other than to add more stress to the killer to find it and give survivors another chance to escape because of bad teamwork.

I started playing survivor for the challenge, and over time it just disappeared. While I agree you shouldn't get points for letting someone escape, you - collectively BHVR - have already designed the game to make survivors think they should survive. Killers are already viewed as bad guys for slugging, camping, chasing rescued survivors, etc. I'm sure you read a lot of the forum threads even if you don't reply to them. So this mind set of a lot of players on the forum is clear.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1388038#Comment_1388038

The best way to stop gens from being done is kill survivors. So really the objective is to kill them. Because there's no timer on the match, so it's either they die or escape.

This is why I said that it is the END goal, because yes as a "killer" you are meant to "kill" survivors, but there is so much more to it than that. Of the 4 emblems in the game currently, only ONE of them relies on kills. And even then 30% of it is based on said kills.

I also expect nothing when I play survivor. I'm also completely fine with the hatch mechanic on both sides, because it gives the best possible thing for survivors within a horror setting: hope.

Without hope, there is only despair. If a survivor only has despair, then they will simply just offer themselves to the killer. There is no fun to be had from someone willingly offering themselves up for death. There is no hunt to be had from a hopeless sacrifice. As a killer, I want to hunt, not kill mindlessly and this is supported by the ranking system.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1387880#Comment_1387880

    THAT'S A PROBLEM.

The games objective and the games ranking system are supporting different things.

Your goal as Killer is to murder the 4 Survivors as per the tutorial, but the ranking system isn't properly rewarding you for doing so. That is NOT a good thing.

The game is balanced around 2-2, everybody has said that the tutorials are deceptive and don't cover a majority of the game, your "goal" as a survivor is also to SURVIVE, yet immersed people who hide all game and contribute nothing are punished.

Kills as killer are a REWARD, not a right. They are an END GOAL, not the entirely of what you're focusing on. Your true goal for a majority of the game is to protect generators and stop them from being completed.

Outdated thinking like yours are probably the reason (or one of) the hidden MMR system is being implimented! Other killers aren't adapting to deal with their current situation, they just want to see skulls at the end rather than live in the moment of gameplay.

  • I honestly never find any of these to be a problem. If the person who got unhooked is stupid enough to dive in front of me, then they're gonna go off and mend. Let them waste their time. If I've slugged someone, either their friends are gonna go and pick them up OR I've just made you waste your perk. DS doesn't matter to me because I'm either too far away to care, or busy punishing the idiot who unhooked you in my face. Or I've just slugged you because I've accidentally dashed into you with Nurse's, which means you're now free to waste your Unbreakable instead.

  • @Bovinity said:

Emblems reward you for playing well.

(But not too well, stop that. Play worse or we'll depip you.)

    @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1387824#Comment_1387824

Sure you can change your play. But in doing so you are playing less optimally compared to if you didn't.

The best and most efficient game possible is one where you as Killer down all 4 Survivors immediately, hook them all, and win the game. This scenario has 4 chases and 4 hooks. You cannot do better than this, so if you have the option to do that, any other options are suboptimal.

Since the entire function of a ranking system is to ensure that the most optimal players are matched together that means punishing optimal play for ANY reason, yes that includes camping, gen rush, tunneling ect, is always counterproductive to it's function.

So in the case of an instant down like billy's saw. If you are relying on the saw then that means your results will be worse than billy's that don't when playing against Survivors that implement counters to the saw. So you don't need a dedicated punishment, their results will speak for themselves.

If the Survivors don't counter the saw, then you were relying on something relyable, which is exactly what you should be doing in the first place and thus should be rewarded accordingly. Even if we explicitly don't want people to rely on chainsaws for downs, we should still pip people that successfully do so, otherwise they will continue to face Survivors that don't counter the saw. If we pip them then they will be facing better Survivors that DO know what to do against billy's saw. And we know they can handle it because we'd be doing the same thing on the Survivor side, meaning the top rank Survivors were the ones that Survived the mid rank Killers.

Funny thing is though, and I've said this heaps before, but this game and the pip system by extension are designed around the HUNT and not the kill. It's not about optimally wiping out a small population, it's about torturing a small group.

You are rewarded for scaring survivors and moving them off generators, injuring them and leaving them bleeding, then killing them off after the have SUFFERED. This is why a killer like the Legion is actually fantastic to rank up with, while Plague and Billy players keep whining about their results. Inflict pain and suffering, draw out the game as long as possible, go for the OPTIMAL 12 hook game, or at least 10 hooks and all that then come back to me and tell me of your results.

I don't know I am consistently the only one who actually sees this and spreads this message.

  • It'd be nice, but there are two main problems with such a grindy horror game, such as DbD and the concept of horror itself.

    1) PSYCHOLOGICAL horror is very personal, and often really subtle. My best examples for this are Lovecraft's works and the fear of the unknown, and the Aussie horror flick Wolf Creek.

The Cthulhu Mythos works because we literally cannot comprehend what these eldritch beings are, therefore it scares us because we cannot know. Putting something like this into a game means that there has to be a way that it is able to be comprehended, which is why we've never had a good Call of Cthulhu game, outside of pen and paper RPG's.

Wolf Creek on the other hand is terrifying because of it's relatable, and minor spoilers but there are only three people who are killed throughout the entire movie. In 99 minutes, there are only three deaths. And they all happen in the last twenty minutes. How is it scary? Simple. Because the killer of this film doesn't act how most people would expect and seem relatively normal until the shows his true colours.

    2) Repetition and over-exposure dull the senses. When we all first started playing, hearing that heartbeat was one of the most terrifying things in the game. Now? Part of me is actually happy to hear it because I know where the killer is roughly, sometimes WHO it is and the fact that it isn't a stealth killer so I have more than half a second's warning. We know most of the map layouts to an extent, so we're not running wildly hoping for something to save us.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1386296#Comment_1386296

Plz fix chaser emblems and malicious emblems punishing you for being too efficient and fast.

Or maybe you should just calm down and NOT rush through survivors like killers keep saying about gen-rushing because either side rushing hurts everyone.

The emblems work the way they do for a reason. Everyone who relies or constantly uses instant-downs are penalised by having less of these emblems because they are doing HALF THE WORK. I run A Nurse's Calling on my Pig build, but I use it to target the one healing, rather than the injured one most of the time.

It's easy enough to change one thing about your play and get rewarded for it, rather than saying that a whole mechanic of a game needs to be reworked.

Right, cause survivors gloating at the gates after beating the killer to a pulp due to terrible maps, crutch perks, and quite literally the worst balancing team video gaming history, is not toxic. Right.

    Did I say it wasn't?

Flashlighting at pallets, teabagging at gates and abusing the power of something like DS annoys the hell out of me too and I call it out there. But, last time I checked this is not a thread about that.

  • @xenotimebong said:

I don’t “play by the survivor rule book”, whatever that means, but it’s more fun to play aggressive and pressure everyone than it is to camp (yawn).

I’m not sure why so many killers are obsessed with the “survivor rule book”. No one’s gonna come and take your PC/console away if you tunnel someone. It’s not bannable to play in a way survivors don’t like so you’re free to do as you please, and they’re free to have an opinion. Sometimes their opinion is dumb and sometimes it’s not. It’s just a game so don’t take it so seriously.

"Survivor rule book" is just a dog-whistle term for killers who play like trash and get called out for it so they can feel better about themselves because there are no actual ramifications for literally ruining people's games.

  • It's not that great on the survivor's side either. Red ranks in general suck because you're either a try-hard sweatlord, or you just don't care any more because you've reached the highest ranks in the game.

Do it once to say that you've been there, but after that I don't really think that there's much of a point. If I could, I'd lock myself into green/purple ranks for survivor and yellow/green ranks for killer, since they're where I have the most fun. Sometimes you'll get a really good opponent or set of opponents, and they can be challenging or others that are complete potatoes and it'll be a meme of a game.

Maybe you should read a little more before you criticise. I posted three times before that one. Youre qualified to work at CNN

    Your not You're.

There is no such thing as CNN where I live.

And I meant in relation to MY STATEMENT. I cannot believe that I have to specify that.

What I did was also not criticism. I was dismissing you in a similar manner to how you blew off part of my argument with actually offering anything in terms of a counter-argument and what little you provided can be described as a matter of viewpoint, rather than a counter-point. You mention me in a comment, you are talking in relation to what I HAVE POSTED. If you had simply stated "I said [topic in relation] in an earlier post", then sure I would have gone back and checked, maybe even apologising.

Your little bits before that also make you sound more like an entitled killer, than someone who has actually played both sides and experienced what you're arguing in favour for. Even using a piece of SATIRE as an argument!

If I'm CNN, then surely you're on the level of something like Buzzfeed.

  • Bond and Spine Chill would be good ones to use. If you want to stick together of course, then I would also suggest Prove Thyself for generators.

Then just go Exhaustion of choice.

  • So, with Blood Warden EXISTING people are going to be paranoid of it's existence. There is also the issue of them not knowing where everyone is, so they want to give them the most possible time to get out or not be limited by a timer to go back and unhook someone. This little problem is also helped by the fact that a lot more often a killer will tend to camp or patrol a hooked survivor during endgame to secure a kill.

    @burntFuse said:

Have you ever had to deal with getting rid of a reverse bear trap after your teammates finish the last gen AND opened the exit before unhooking you? It ain't fun!

I haven't had to, but I've forced that onto people. It's fun for me to watch.

  • There's a difference between "playing by the rules" as so many other killers put it, and understanding the survivor situation, playing towards the emblem system because the HUNT is better than the kill, getting more emblems because this playstyle is what the emblem system wants, playing killers and tactics to support this and slow down the game in other ways and doing well without infuriating everyone else.

There are no "Rules" from survivors. It is simply them saying "Can you NOT prevent me from playing the video game, please and thank you?"

  • But here's the problem with that for the times they happen to me:

    1) I'm never toxic. They just want easy-street.

    2) I'm not a potato. They still want easy-street.

    3) It's a BAD PERK, and I'm usually the one who's actually done totems, yet is the only one hit by it.

    4) I've spent longer to get into a lobby, and now there's EVEN LESS gameplay for me.

  • Sprint Burst. Easy choice.

I even rate Sprint Burst above Dead Hard.

  • @Almo said:

Well, yeah. The game itself is quite fun, even if there are a few annoyances such as the kits of certain characters or people's playstyles. I even find some of the things that people take issue with as part of the charm.

  • They haven't been that bad for me, but I've also dropped a bit as killer because I have been playing DbD less.

  • DS and BT weree already in a natural decline. PH's addition just sped that up, and after the hype around his release dies down, people will go back to it.

Good to see a fellow claud main. I'm not a very god tier looper, and can only get around a 2 gen chase, but I'm always there with a flashlight if someone gets downed lol. Honestly though, the David's are the idiots.

I don't run any items on any of my characters. Funny thing is that I have also been running my P3 Yui lately.

If you can, Resilience and Spine Chill are fantastic for looping. The extra vault speed is always very good for chases, and if you combine it with Self-Care, you can 99 the healing to have two health states AND get the Resilience bonus.

I'm a rank 1 claudette main. Don't stereotype, as the bad claud players just want to be immersed. Good ones are awesome. Like ayruns also a rank 1 claud main. I don't even wear dark outfits on her. I'm the opposite of a stereotypical claudette. So thats offensive to the people who dont just use her to be invisible.

I play with the default skin and I still contribute to my team. I'm just not as good in a chase as a lot of other people. Immersed is boring, but using her natural stealth abilities is fine to me.

Hovering around rank 4 and 5 depending on when reset is too.

  • I'm also not THAT bad at the game!

  • Well, Adam is a DLC character and has a white coat, unless you waste shards or Auric cells on a different cloak. Claudette is also a smaller character model.

The fact that she also has healing perks is inticing to new players, since they generally can't last in a chase.
