DOOM 2016, Borderlands series, Darksiders, Mass Effect trilogy.
I do also like the Telltale games, but they're a real mood killer some days. Need to play more Man of Medan. If it's on Playstation, there's this cute little game one of my brothers ran into on an Xbox sale called "Assault Android Cactus". Cute little arcade shooter. Totally worth checking out.
And of course Dead by Daylight.
-
The Pip system has more to it than killing or dying, and in fact BOTH sides staying around and slowing down the game is more beneficial to them.
As it currently stands, if you hit a lot of survivors and they run off to get healed, you gain Malicious and Chaser for hitting them and having them bleed, then they get some Chaser for having you ditch them and "escape the chase", then the team gets Benevolence for healing each other.
Instant downs, or even hitting constantly injured people hurts a killer's chance of pipping, as you get half the chaser emblem for doing half the work.

This usually isn't the first time I've brought up the problems with the Jigsaw box skill checks but anytime any pig player does they usually get shouted out about how the bear traps aren't meant to kill completely ignoring the fact that that's not what we're asking for.
We're actually asking for them to be afraid that might make survivors worried about if a generator pops not something that survivors can just casually finish a gen whilst they have a reverse bear trap on their head and then go take care of it
Oh, believe me. I know.
Even as a Pig main, I still yell at people over her trap's "lethality".
I bring it up here because there is no fear from having a trap. It's a temporary inconvenience. I'm actually going to go through each add-on and fix them. I mean, except of course the Dash, Gears and Timer. The good ones. Everything else will have a change.

Pig is in a great place already. Two guaranteed kills per game...let’s not edit her.
What? Since when are kills guaranteed?

How do you mean RS2?
Ruleset No. 2, the pink add-in that makes boxes invisible until they're active.
Literally forces survivors towards generators to see the box.
-
You know what's even worse about the box skill checks, especially with the add-ons? They still give GREAT skill checks! They actually help experienced players get them off faster!
If they made the skill checks actually silent from the beginning or even harder than a DS check, then maybe she could be somewhat scary.
Necessary thing though is to just remove the Great result. They're just too beneficial for survivors.
-
Yeah, interesting.
Thing is though that the RBT is such a (potentially) huge time stall and they're easy to apply. They also have a Kill effect, which isn't a thing for literally any other power. The guessing game of the traps is also a huge part of it and having survivors KNOW which box to search would be a massive waste of time for the Pig player. She's already super weak against comms and this would only strengthen that weakness.
At least you didn't immediately jump on RS2 base or "rng" buffs.

It’s not a minute of invincibility if you get slugged. You put on infectious fright and it now works to your advantage to simply use that person to down him in order to find another target. Time doesn’t matter that much because the killer should be going after the one that did the rescue anyways if the killer refused to go back out and defend generators .
I don't verse a huge amount of Infectious Fright, and it is how some people use DS. I personally don't and find it to be an excellent way to get targeted by the killer.
Main thing was that people feel confident enough with both DS and Unbreakable to blatantly do stuff in the killer's face because they either stun them with DS, or ignore the slug with Unbreakable.
If someone tries it with me, I'll eat their DS and put them on hook. If they calm me a tunneller, I'll let them know that they asked me to by abusing DS.
-
I guess it all depends on HOW you use them, especially wiyh perks like DS.
There is the INTENDED use, which is what I used it for, to literally just give tunnellers the middle finger or there is the "Hurhur 60 Seconds Invincibility" use which killers complain about. This is where you act freely because the "difficult skill check" really isn't. Combine it with Unbreakable and there's no punishing this sort of reckless behaviour.
The perks themselves are FINE. But it's how people are using them.
-
Yeah, nah. Not interested. I never really found TLOU to be a horror series, as more of another zombie survival "humanity is the real monster" story.
But then again, I'm also on Xbox, and I doubt that Sony would want someone like me to get a hold of their precious IP.
Left 4 Dead seems more like horror than TLOU, and we already have Bill.
-
So, we're ignoring release Bubba and pre-rework Freddy are we?
Also, PH doesn't have add-ons that literally harm him, can shut off common survivor strats, such as flashlights or abusing DS and BT and has general map detection. And a ranged attack.
Pig doesn't.
Also, the licensed characters are still better than half the roster.
-
Well, there are several problems woth your statements here.
- I'm a CONSOLE player and a PTB is something that I have zero access to.
- KILLERS sre the ones complaining now that Baby Mode Billy actually takes thought to play.
- Never complained about the Executioner, and actually find him great on both sides.
- Killers are infinetly more likely to use cheap tactics, and even encourage each other to do so.

It didn't need to. Just that face alone is enough.
-
Yeah? You have a problem with that? Oni's Blood Fury SHOULD be better than Billy's saw because he has it way less. In fact, I'd be perfectly happy with all these Hillbilly complainers/bandwagoners playing Oni instead. He's more fun to verse and a much better aesthetic.
@Accullla said:
I love people trying to do a like - for - like comparison between killers in this game. Did you ever think that people like to play them because they enjoy using their power; like the gameplay; enjoy the aesthetic? Not everything is about finding the killer that can net you a guaranteed 4k with the optimal perks, power and playstyle
Seriously, I struggle to understand how people who think like this manage to even enjoy the game. I'd be bored out of my mind if i had this mindset going into a match.
I feel the same way, and I'm even contemplating streaming as Legion getting zero (deliberate) kills while attempting to rank up. Showing that kills AREN'T EVERYTHING.

Yeah. I'm struggling to think, are there any perks besides Infectious Fright that actually work on all downs any more?
Sloppy, Surge and STBFL all work off weapon attacks, not power. I can't think of any others.
Infectious seems to be the only one.

I agree completely. But i'm really hoping "better than pig" is not the benchmark the devs are trying to achieve with killer reworks lol.
I hope not too. The fact that some of my add-ons HARM me, and Hillbilly's still have use is kinda annoying.
-
@anarchy753 said:
Honestly, I say this not being a fan of Billy or Oni either, I really think they should make Infectious Fright trigger on a basic attack.
These high mobility AND one-hit down killers get too much out of it. Hell, swap it with Surge and let surge be all downs.
OR we have consistency in perk design and say "Basic attacks. Use your weapon. Your power is NOT a weapon."
-
I'm honestly surprised that more people aren't talking about how Bubba is no longer going to be an absolute meme.
As for Hillbilly, this has been a long time coming. Add-ons may be a little too far, and as a Pig main, I know how much having terrible add-ons hurts, but Billy's base-kit is still better than Pig's if we're talking about raw kills.

The requirement isnt to get a 4k, its to double pip. You can get a 4k and SAFETY pip.
Let's not forget the "4k and De-Pip" threads on here when people run around with an instant-down and an ebony mori and cry about it.

Either I'm going up against all new survivors or very experienced red rank survivors. Either it's a walk in the park or I'm getting wrecked. Sadly there's no in-between.
I've not had it to that extreme. Worst one I've had was two reds, a purple and a yellow as a green ranked killer.
Slaughtered them all.
-
Yeah, uh, I have several questions to go against what you've said about Plague's pipping. Biggest one is "How many downs/hooks are you getting off BROKEN Survivors?" because at that point, you are only doing half the work. If you want to play largely the same way, then what I would suggest is vomiting on the once then bashing their heads in with the incense burner. If you lose them, then they remain Broken and now you've got an extra bit of Chaser and maybe Malicious.
As for keys, there is nothing that I can say to ever make killers respect them, same way as nobody will ever convince me that an Ebony Mori are perfectly fine.

Just subtle changes that you wouldn't notice without paying attention. Change LF hook to a meat hook. Stuff like that.
I still think that it'd be too much of a giveaway to which killer you're versing. Maybe if it was a separate cosmetic option, just like Head, Body or Weapon then sure. Just not a default thing.
-
Ok, wow. I thought this was going to be another Hillbilly thread.
Ironically enough though, I've had better matches with rainbow matchmaking. Especially playing as killer. I don't know what it is.

Should a stealth killer care if the survivors know they verse a stealth killer? I mean, a stealth killer is supposed to be stealthy and unseen, right? :D
Yes. Part of playing a stealth killer is that the survivors don't know that I am one initially, or where I'm coming from. If you tell them instantly just by showing them a hook, then there goes a huge part of my early game. There is that allure of the early game of them not knowing who or where you are, and it's also the scariest part of DbD for me, and as soon as I know who the killer is, I've already formulated how I'm going to adapt my gameplay in order to survive more effectively. The longer that I don't know who the killer is, the more paranoid I get and the more likely I am to make a mistake.
And for someone who's been around for about two years, and loves horror with an almost unnatural passion, that's saying something about the power of a killer's stealth ability.

It's because Doctor has tracking and STALL on top of his chase potential.
Clown can chase but gets gen rushed easily.
Doctor has similar chase potential, but is much less vulnerable to gen rush.
I never said it was a perfect comparison, but yeah. The main issue still is that Clown's power is very easy to counter at base kit. And while the same may be said for killers like Doctor, or even the fact that in a chase you will inevitably be hit by the Clown's gas, it still doesn't change the fact that he'll have a hard time getting to you because you take the obvious counter lying around and he can't reach you.
-
I'm not upset with the team, I'm upset at the killer who doesn't think they can take me out normally. While I'm not the greatest runner, I can hold my own. No reason to camp me out, though, especially since I don't bring any sort of item and don't abuse the power of Decisive Strike (not that I use it any more anyway.) but hey, I can't control the actions of others. I can only hope that they show me the respect I show them.
-
Hillbilly's always been unfun for me.
I've always had fun with Pig, but I do also like Legion and Doctor. If you want something similar to Hillbilly, then try Oni. He's always been what I consider to be what Hillbilly should have been.

Doctor has much more than just chasing.
Yeah, he has information with it. Point was that they both have an AoE chase power that is countered in the exact same way, yet one character is much higher on the community's rankings than the other. Maybe it has to do with the fact that Shock Therapy also disables vaults and pallets, to which my answer is either bait them or do it earlier. The exact same thing that happens with Clown. Just with slightly less risk.
-
Same could be relatively said about Doctor.
I've already covered his problem, but it mainly boils down to the fact that survivors have learnt how to counter his power effectively. That is it. His counter is harsh, and it's easy to use.
-
Go ahead. I never go towards my boxes anyway.
@DwightOP said:
I think pig is in a right spot balancewise. So lets go out of our way and think about how to nerf her.
Here is my idea: we add a random factor that when attempting to trap a downed survivor you have the chance to trap yourself by accident and you have to check the boxes for the key (no auto shown).
I think this change will make piggy more skillful to use.
There's already enough issues with Pig. Especially in terms of mobility and lethality. She also takes more skill to play than holding a button for a chainsaw all game.

I play both and I still see tunneling as valid. Sorry you think I don't play survivor. I am sick of clicky clicky teabagging at window toxic survivors. We will just have to agree to disagree is all.
Every time someone bags out the SuRvIvOr RuLe BoOk, it's some entitled killer who doesn't like it when you call them out on it.
I also hate those survivors, and against THEM go for it. If they wanna be toxic, respond in kind.
There is also the rampant double-standard amongst other killers to run DS to counter tunnelling, yet immediately after saying they'll target anyone who uses it and called it a toxic perk.
-
@DraconDirnc said:
Don't listen to the survivors they have rules for everything. Stop abiding by the way they want it to go. If you tunnel so what they have ds for a reason.
There's a difference between "rules" and calling out toxic behaviour. Play more than a single game of survivor, and you'd know how horrible it is to be on the receiving end of it all. Some people don't mind it, but most people hate it.
-
I don't know if there is a delay between Hag's teleport and attack, or if it can be near instant but generally unless you hit attack as you're teleporting or don't care about which survivor you're attacking, then you should be able to tell within half a second.
It's also generally not trap tunnelling for me, as that's more of a Pig issue. It's trap camping for Hag, and by that it's when you place one AT MY FEET or spend half my hook state covering every area.
-
I've always hated Bubba, but the changes to him actually seem pretty healthy for him as a character. Franklin's Demise will also be HUGE against items, not just an annoyance. Lightborn will also now make flashlights near useless and I'm actually really fine with that.
I also don't consider the Hillbilly change to be a massive nerf. It just tells Hillbilly players to think about when to use their power, rather than literally holding it all game.
-
You still have an unlimited use of Hillbilly's chainsaw. A power that survivors have to respect. Get over it.
I have a limited number of RBT's, that can be largely ignored by survivors as my main power, and my secondary is considered near useless by half the community.
Trapper, Hag, Freddy, Huntress and Demogorgon also have a limited number of their power, even if they get their's back over time, they still have a maximum available at any one time.
You still have the FASTEST MAP TRANSVERSAL and an instant down. And unlike majority if the killer cast, you can actually juggle your power percentage. That is bloody huge! Seriously. Hillbilly still has so much going for him compared to other killers. I do not see what you're complaining about.
-
Cages don't proc a lot of powerful perks that are hook related.
That and Final Judgement is way cooler than cage sacrifices.
If I had a clickly or sabo survivor near by, then sure. Cages are a great way to punish those playstyles. But as a whole you're better off saving it.
-
Well, I'm the mythical beast that ignores the generator I literally spawned next to in order to do bones.
There are also the issues of zero input from the killer to activate the perk and the fact that the Exposed status, arguably the single most powerful effect in the game, is HIDDEN until first hit.
I have literally died to this dumb perk more times than I can count or remember because the other 3 idiots I'm paired with can't do one simple thing. Dodged the killer all game, occasionally taking a hit and not being hooked once to now dying while they run off. Because THEY didn't do bones, yet I did and I have to face the consequences.
That and I also think that if you are relying on an endgame perk in a regular build, then you either need to lower your rank and practice some more or swap to a perk that will work all game.
-

And what if Killers got 4-8 hooks before their NOED activated? Is it still unearned because they did very well in the game but didn't get anyone ultimately Killed before the exit gates were powered due to X reasons?
It is still better than what we currently have.
Geez, even if it was "if a survivor has been hooked during the trial", I'd be more accepting than fail horribly and have a spare totem.
-
Yes, but there is the issue of them becoming to Wraith what Bubba is to Hillbilly (pre-July 2020 for future historians)
-
I'm not saying that this is the build to end all stealth builds, but I did get to red ranks with this initially with a mix of solo and SWF games, pre Ruin rework.Default Claudette with jacket
Spine Chill - basically a mandatory Stealth perk for early detection. Especially fantastic when combined with a good headset.
Bond - Combine this perk with Spine Chill in order to tell when a killer has broken a chase near you, and can also use this to get healed up.
Self-Care - Hear me out. You can't just rely on others to heal you, especially while playing solo. If you can't hold a chase, having two health states is also pretty vital. This will allow you to get back to two health states, without drawing attention to others.
Sprint Burst - YEET. This is the best Exhaustion perk for stopping a chase before it starts. If others are nearby, like say on a generator that's been marked by Discordance, this perk could be the difference between being targeted by the killer or them going after the other survivor.
-
Having his TR reversed would throw off every survivor instinct for veteran players. I love the idea.
-
Gore does not equal horror.
I LOVE the SAW franchise, but it doesn't scare me in the slightest. Even with traps that have people having their faces blown apart by a shotgun. Wolf Creek, though, with it's realistic premise and relatability scares me on a deeper level.
-
If you're on Xbox, check your NAT type as that's screwed me over multiple times.
-
Altruism is a team effort. Look more at the randoms that you were partnered with, rather than the game system.
I think that you'll find the Huntress there also de-pipped since instant-downs penalise them heavily, same with using a mori.
-
What's worse about the whole arguments of balance is that people with genuine concerns and well laid out arguments with examples are shot down because some people are too comfortable to see past their pre-established viewpoint.
Killers are meant to EARN their kills, they are not a right. You can rank up with zero kills.
Survivors are meant to EARN their escape, they are not a right. It's not if you die, it's how you die.
-
Dr. Frankenfurter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Wielding a fire axe, like in that one scene with Meatloaf in it.
Oh, don't be too upset. It was a mercy killing!
-
Halloween because all the killer perks have had some sort of use, and Myers is just great to play as. Laurie has also seen use with at least two of her perks, even if killers never stop complaining about one of them. It's been objectively the best chapter to date.
That being said, I've had a LOT of fun playing the Pig from the SAW chapter, Legion is actually pretty fun to play as too.
-
Well, for me generators themselves act more as an interlude for dodging the killer, which I tend to have more fun with.
After being unfairly killed off by NoED, I've made it my personal mission to destroy all totems I can find. I also prefer a more stealthy playstyle, and yes I am also that one who unhooks just when your TR is past the hook. I am that survivor. You are welcome.
Most of the time I touch a generator, I've destroyed at least 2 totems and start trying to get enough Lightbringer to make sure that I don't de-rank. Do I die a lot? Well, yeah. But I also keep my rank or rank up. Doesn't help that I play solo.
-
It'd be nice if survivors got some more BP than they currently do, especially since I can double the gain, even if I perform worse, as a killer. But that may also be because Doctor is great for farming and Distressing is a borderline mandatory perk and my Legion build has loads of BP gain perks.
