  • What defines a "Farming" killer? People could see me as a farmer, since I like slow, long, drawn out games and occasionally tactically slug. Especially if someone's recently been unhooked because I like to give them a chance to prove their worth. It also works fantastically against the general DS use. Just saying.

AFK is already bannable, and depending on the slugging then it's usually not THAT bad.

  • I actually like the idea of them giving you less reward. You are in essence doing HALF the work of a killer who doesn't use instant-downs and therefore should be given HALF the reward. The Chaser emblem also rewards shorter chases for killers, with under 8 seconds for a hit being considered "perfect", and longer ones for survivors.

The Benevolence emblem is also a communal emblem that covers unhooking and healing for all survivors. Survival is literally lasting as long as you can. What would be nice for it is for escaping to give a guaranteed gold, as it already does, but there is also the possibility of getting gold if you last a long time, or until EGC starts. Not that survivor needs an easier time getting emblems as it is, though.

I get what you're saying, but I also completely disagree. Half of the killers who have instant-downs can have one easy change done to their standard gameplay on the player's side and it would stop just about all of the pipping problems. Plague especially.

  • A guessing game is NOT RNG. The key spawns in a set box when the RBT is placed on the survivor. There is no random chance like with escaping Trapper's bear traps, or trying to unhook yourself. Guessing wrong is not RNG and not something you can blame on the game.

Spine Chill also destroys Pig as her stealth advantage is lost immediately.

Ambush is also predictable in a loop, but jf they're a good player it's the same as going up against a good phasing Spirit, and if you can run her, you can run a Pig.

Shouldn't matter if she can counter BT because either someone is making bad saves, or the Pig is playing her wrong.

Trap tunnelling is also known as a terrible idea and a waste of your power. Same as camping boxes.

There. That should help you against her from now on.

Also, what killers DO you like going against then? The main thing about Pig's kit is that she is such a toolbox killer with what you can do, since she has quite a few elements to her kit. I'm guessing you prefer simple killers that are seen more often than once every few months or non-stealth killers.

  • There are far worse pink add-ons out there. And you have a base kit instant-down with zero conditions. They also don't actively harm you by equipping them.

Seriously, there isn't much to complain about.

  • So, a niche perk that continues to do it's original job, and provides the effect of another perk, but worse?

Nerfs an item that is rarely used to begin with?

You're better off running I'm All Ears for close range aura reading, and time will tell how the Billy changes will affect him and his pick rate. I can imagine a lot more Oni players, since they are similar. I have way more respect for Oni players, tho.

    Oh look, OP got banned.

    Truly, this is a pity.

    ...But not a big pity.

Normally I would say something like "good riddance" but I feel as though that would make me look petty.

  • There are a few problems that the devs should be held accountable for, such as the initial PTB version of Ghostface.

Most of it though it the community not taking a collective chill-pill, and calm the Entity down. I've never seen such a bunch of whining brats as I have on these forums and I've been a Warhammer player for 10 years!

  • Depends on the killer, and it's not the fact that you only have one kind of attack. I personally can't find ANY enjoyment holding a chainsaw, camping or targeting one specific person just because they lucked out and spawned next to me but other people do.

I enjoy playing Pig to toy with survivors and really mess with their heads. Combination of turning my stealth on and off, occasional tactical slugging and fast Ambush attacks. Basically becoming a predator hunting prey. Y'know that killers are meant to be.

  • Well, I have SEVERAL things that we could outright remove or have separate lobbies for, but that would require policing of the community, or harsher penalties built into the game.

  • So, you mean make solo-queue an abysmal experience by making it harder, and especially for new players who already have a hard time?

Add more complications for everyone who already has to deal with random team mates, killers given a free pass on the dumbest tactics that are considered greifing in literally any other game and having a third of the average BP gain, making in the harder to level characters and experiment with new and unique builds?

Sure! And why don't we make every killers attack a mori while we're at it!

  • Why would you want to delete RNG? Everyone needs something other than their own playing to blame when they lose!

Why do you have the healing action and the pallet drop action on the same button? That's your own fault tbh.

I heal with M1 and drop pallets with M4, no issues at all.

It is the smartest move to stay under the pallet, so somebody can get a pallet save if the killer picks them up. If you're fully recovered and someone is looping the killer around the pallet, it's a good move to crawl a bit in the direction the survivor is looping, so if they drop the pallet, the killer is on one side of the pallet and the crawling survivor pushed to the other side and can get picked up while the iller breaks the pallet.

Crawling far away from the pallet is a dumb move.

Console has half the actions on the same button. Pallet, vault and heal are all the same button by default from memory.

As for the OP, both Peanits and Almo do say that they play and I have heard that they both stream. Waiting under a pallet is also for the possibility of a pallet save, which while rare is a possibility and can make a killer hesitate going for the pick-up. If they feel safe, then they might crawl towards you to avoid the accidental throw, or it also takes half a second to see if it's on the right command or not.

  • I'm not toxic, thank you.

At least my other two are "generally skilled".

It's a Reverse Bear Trap. How complicated is it to take an Engineer to understand how things go 🥴

It's more the forces behind it and how everything operates. And how much there is. Like, wow. That is a lot of force in a tiny area.

Weird fact is that it also doesn't necessarily rip the jaws apart, but has two metal pieces that extend into the mouth and drag through the face.

The angle it naturally extends to isn't enough to kill. It'll hurt, and you'll have scars that put Heath Ledger's Joker to shame but not die if it were just the jaws ripping. Assuming as well you don't die of shock, blood loss or whiplash.

probably an RBT, the build up would be pretty stressful though.

Too much build-up. And as a SAW fanatic and a former engineering student, please no. I understand way too much about that device and how it functions.

  • What is the quickest method of death possible in DbD?

    That.

  • Well you can't have an Elder Being such as Cthuhlu, Hastur or Nyarlothotep as they are quite possibly more powerful than the Entity, but also extradimensional and therefore incomprehensible to humanity on a fundamental level.

I've said it before, but having an Insmoth fish-person would be actually fit rather well

But chases lenght is no sense. The game should reward me for a short chase, not a long chase, because that means that I'm good. Or not?

Yeah, it does. That's part of what I'm asking. It does reward you for shorter chases.

You have given us NO CONTEXT outside of "I got 3 kills". What I was asking for were details to tell you what your problem was.

  • I think that a majority of the balancing should be done around the purple ranks. Just higher than the middle, but not the 1%. Of course you still make some changes for all ranks, but focus more towards those who are more familiar with the game system and more likely to spend a larger amount of time with it.

    @Halun said:

You always balance for high level play. High level players are the most likely to invest time and effort into a game, and the most likely to break things if they aren't well balanced. Balancing for casuals often will leave things broken at high levels of play, de-incentivizing players from investing time and effort to advance their skill, since skill will inevitably take a back seat.

There's a difference between designing with all skill levels in mind; taking all players into consideration, and balancing for competitive play. For some reason, people can't separate the two.

Regardless, considering that red ranks aren't indicative of skill, the question itself is a bit flawed to start.

I get what you're saying, but I would also like to point out how Overwatch did that and look at the state of it for a majority of the Overwatch League and it's first season compared to literally everybody else.

Yes, DbD isn't an E-Sport but those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it.

  • Imagine equipping a perk and hoping NOT to use it.........

Oh, wait. That's me and DS.

  • Same as Dude above. How many instant downs? Did they heal up? How many hooks total? How long were your chases? Did you use a Mori and if so, after which hooks?

There is more than just "I got kills, praise me".

Personally for Mr. Slinger I think "Ain't No Grave" by Johnny Cash is the best choice

"Ride to town, shoot 'em up and keep on goin'. 'Cuz I got a job to do, and I don't stop for no one."

"Many men have quickly found I'm unforgiving. They say dying ain't no way to make a living."

"I take another life, it's all the same. It's one more killing to the man that has no name."

Does that not fit Caleb Quinn pretty well or what?

ok, but wasn't it changed to be that way? I only recently started to play Pig, she is one of the final killers I need to p3.

I was under the impression it was nerfed before I took my 10 month break, I was gone from the game for 3 DLCs

It was changed to this at the time Endgame Collapse was introduced. Well, the traps not being activated automatically after all the generators was. Everything else is still the same.

  • @DrDeepwound said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1472579#Comment_1472579

wasnt it like that? but was too difficult for players and removed.

It is still like that. The trap must be ACTIVATED for that to work, they have to leave via an exit gate and cannot be dropped over the line by the Pig.

Traps only activate after a generator is complete, so no endgame traps.

Hatch does not activate the trap.

The only 'requirement' for Unbreakable is to hold m1 for a few seconds to activate it. 🧐

Deliverance requires you to safely unhook a Survivor safely before it become active. Do you consider that a HUGE requirement because if the Killer finds, downs and hooks you first you get no use out of that perk at all.

At least with Unbreakable you still receive the recovery boost regardless . .

Heck, I consider Mettle of Man to have a HUGE requirement. Requiring 3 protection hits before you get protection for 1 hit. THAT is a huge requirement. 🤣

However, to get up off the ground after a Killer has to chase you down and hit you 1-2 times all you need to do is hold down a button . .

You know the risk of bringing in a perk that revolves around actions of the opposing player. To spin it in this instance, that the Killer must slug in order to get any use out of it, saying that is the HUGE requirement is a false narrative.

The 'requirement' for Unbreakable to activate is minimal, even laughable compared to the amount of work the Killer typically has to go through to get you into that state.

We can agree to disagree, but if this is the way you view most elements of this game you are creating mountains out of a mole hills 🤷‍♂️

Yes, yes it is a huge requirement for Deliverance. If you're hooked before you can unhook someone, your perk is wasted.

What's huge about these requirements is indeed the singular fact that you are relying on other people to activate your perk. I say the same thing about DS, but that one is easier to bait.

We may as well just agree to disagree because we both appear to have widely differing viewpoints. I think that relying on the actions on others is a major gamble and a huge requirement, and you clearly don't.

  • Most of the current issues for killers are caused by them and changing playstyle slightly fixes half the problems.

DS - just remember who you hooked and slug suspected users. If they run at you or blatantly abuse it, then remove them from the game.

BT - target the unhooker if they're that close and if the other one blocks you, then force them to mend and WASTE TIME.

Unbreakable - Bait it early by tactically slugging.

Gen-Rushing - play for stalling the game and protecting generators, rather than straight kills.

Adrenaline - don't slug for the 4k and just deal with it. Two hits isn't THAT hard to achieve for a competent killer.

Body-blocking - they're desperate or you're a tunneller. Just hit them and waste their time.

Also that the notion of kills make the killer is the single most outdated mindset in the game. The pip system exists for a reason.

Less billy = more spirit and nurse

Yes his power has been nerfed considerably both addon and overheat wise

Myers can instantly kill people with tombstone piece and have permanent insta downs with fragrant tuft of hair

Ghost face is myers and pigs second cousin twice removed the only difference is he has a stronger base kit and only a few good addons

As a console player, I welcome more Nurse games.

I've also played against more Hillbillies than anyone in these forums can imagine, so I'm a little over going against him.

I also prefer to keep the add-ons out of the conversation for as long as possible. Yes, Myers can just delete people and have permanent Tier III, and I find those both annoying and unfair. Pig's add-ons are detrimental half the time and an RBT kill is more rare than an ethical facecamp.

  • He is though. You have a FREE and EASY TO USE instant-down on demand. One that also provides the best mobility in the game and enormous map pressure

GF and Myers have to work for theirs! And they have zero mobility options!

  • @Peanits said:

I have the same thoughts about it for the most part, although there are some very valid points out there. Namely:

    • It's way harder to deal with solo where you can't ask the other people how many totems they did.
    • The 'counter' to camping is to do gens and leave, but if you do that, you aren't cleansing totems and you risk a second person dying to NOED.

Granted neither of those are really unsolvable issues, the latter being fairly rare in my experience, but they are very fair points and I don't think they should be completely ignored just because you're alright with the way it works.

Could we at least get a compromise and have the Exposure notice instantly, rather than on first hit, like every other exposure effect?

  • It's a strong perk, but it's badly designed.

And yes, there are counters such as doing the bones, but all it takes is for one set to be missed by me as a solo and nobody else doing them before I am the one who gets destroyed by the perk.

It is also one of TWO perks/effects that hides Exposed, yet has zero input from the killer.

I would also like to argue the point of just running another perk that will help you ALL game.

  • @DwightKrackers said:

Being left on the ground is a "HUGE requirement" for a free pick me up?

Introducing the Telepathic Gen Repair 'can only be used once per trial'

    • Stare at a generator within 32 meters and it will be fully repaired within 80 seconds

I guess starring at a generator would be a HUGE requirement . . heck you don't even need to hold m1 🤣

    • Nerf - you must now hold m1 while using Telepathic Gen Repair

Seriously, some of the things said in this forum 😂

On it's own, yes. You have to have a killer stupid enough or blind to leave you alone. I will say that when combined aggressively with DS, then it isn't that hard.

Sometimes it's good to look at things in isolation.

  • It requires the killer to leave you on the ground. That in itself is already a HUGE requirement.

That and it is once per game.

  • I've been playing on Xbox for about two years now, and I've never had a bug like that. Only one I've had that's noteworthy is not showing a group's status as what it is and not loading into lobbies with them.

I'd suggest restarting the game, possibly hard-resetting your console, and of course sending in a support ticket.

  • I honestly don't see it rising that highly in popularity with the amount of Undetectable or even Oblivious available to killers today. If stealth killers especially were to rise in response to Alert, then that would nullify the perk's existence. But this is also provided that killers chose to actually adapt to survivor perk choices for once, rather than sticking with older ideas.

Or they will even start using more perks like Trail of Torment to disguise themselves for a short while.

The most likely option though, is that they will complain about the information it gives and SWF who will also largely ignore the perk in favour of having their comms communicate the position of the killer, or limit themselves to one person using the perk if they really care that much about team building.

  • @Zaitsev said:

I was able to kill the third survivor and incapaciate the fourth with one gen remaining. I hadnt seen this guy the whole game, and again, assumed that since he was playing super immersed that he wasnt running DS

I tend to focus more on stealth, yet I used DS for a while because of rampant tunnellers. You also didn't mention the OoO user, or any Obsession perks in the opening statement, so people would naturally assume that you ignored the Obsession status.

  • This is one of the many reasons why I never* go and slug for the 4k. Happy to take the gamble too for the first to find the hatch. The fact that it was also their first hook does say a lot more about how your game went than just this outcome. One has to wonder what was going on here. And no, I'm not implying that you were tunnelling, but if they avoided you for that long then something was going wrong for you.

*unless they're right in front of me. I never slug and leave them.

  • Funny because my particular main kikler has the opposite. Tunnelling is TERRIBLE for Pig, both for rank AND my powers.

Slugging is more necessary than tunnelling and people don't hate you for it as much.

Honestly, it's killers like you that have brought about this "second chance meta" that a lot of other killers complain about. You make statements like this and follow through on those actions, then survivors will do whatever they can to survive.

  • @dbd_noob said:

I love threads like that. There are many people out there that state the solo Q is so bad because the teammates are potatoes.... Strange that they never play with each other...

What i am trying to say. Solo Q is just harder. you cannot rely on others, you have to be more aware of the killers whereabouts and stuff. But yeah, sometimes there is somebody that is not helping, but honestly i think Solo Q is absolutely legit. Just my opinion.

Yeah, but ironically I perform better as a solo player, rather than in a part of a team. Do I escape more? Yes. BUT I have a much harder time retaining or gaining pips and emblems. I also cannot perform as well in a chase because I'm also dividing my attention (unconsciously) to the comms that are going on in the background, even if I now have them at almost muted. That's why I almost never team up with others.

Thing is @Squirrel_Thicc, solo play is the most raw form of playing survivor. You don't know these people and you can't trust them. Question is then, are you playing for the team or for yourself? Are you going to try and help complete strangers, to the point of even throwing away your own life for their sake? DC's are going to happen while the penalties are offline, but that's just a fact of the game and they're just as frustrating for me when I play killer. It's even to the point where I farm the survivors for a bit and let at least one of them go as compensation.

As for bad teammates, they happen. Same with "lovely" killers. It's part of the risk when you load into a match. There are also plenty of solo players who are more than happy to help and be super helpful to the team. I make it my goal as a solo player to be like an annoying little mozzie or fly just buzzing around you, always just out of reach and possible to forget at times. I do this by unhooking as you get your TR past the hook, or tapping that generator you just kicked and you swear nobody was near by.

If you're on Xbox and playing near the Aus Sydney servers, then I'm sure we can team up for a game or two.

  • I'm just not a fan of either. For tracking I prefer A Nurse's Calling and Surveillance.

But if I had to choose between Whispers and Discordance, then I'd have to say Discordance. Whispers hasn't helped me much when I have used it and I tend to play more of a gen-protector playstyle, focusing on stopping generators from being completed over straight kills.

Dude, calm down. First, sloppy doesn't affect the mending time. Second. The oni and billy are the only one killers that are good at slugging(actually no, nurse is great too but it doesn't change anything) and you just want to get rid of slugging? I mean would you slug on killers like pig or freddy for the whole match? I don't think so. Slugging have been nerfed recently by adding the Soul guard, back in the days it took longer to heal almost fully recovered person , and now if you pick a survivor - the life bar is literally telling other survivors , that this survivor got picked up.

There's tactical slugging, then there's slugging to compensate for a lack skill. Or because the killer can't handle a slight gamble. And I know that Sloppy doesn't affect Mend times, but there are some players out there who like to not remain injured, and Mend is already an annoyance as is.

Yes, I do slug as Pig but that's for my ultimate endgame of stalling for as long as possible. I also don't do it when there are only two people left, and rarely when there's 3. It's not the same as Infectious Oni/Billy, and I don't think that it should be compared as such.

I guess that I've just been hit by too many chainsaws, mostly unfair, and had too many killers make me eat dirt or do it to someone else because of their precious 4k that they aren't confident in finding the hatch first.

Soul Guard also doesn't seem to be that effective unless you're running Hex perks, which are either negligible effects like with Thrill of the Hunt or should be broken immediately, such as Ruin or Devour Hope. Endurance after a heal is nice, but also a really niche situation from what I've observed.

WDYM stranger things chapter had some of the recently best survivor perks.

When's the last time you saw someone run Babysitter, Camradarie or Second Wind? How about Better Together after the release of Trail of Torment? Or even Fixated? Inner Strength is also pretty rare despite people claiming that it's better than Self-Care, even though it's also been stated that a full team of it isn't a great idea.

Fixated and Inner Strength have been said to be the best of the ST Chapter for survivors, and I rarely ever see them.

  • You've already said it yourself. Slug Billy/Oni is the biggest reason. Just slap on whichever speed add-ons give you the fastest 4-man slug and OFF YA GO! Or Feral Frenzy applying Sloppy and taking even more time to mend and heal.

    @Claudette_Baguette said:

Because devs suck at balancing and don't know anything about their game. Why do you think have they been making all those purple addons that apply hemorrhage? They are utterly useless, same goes for blindness.

Surge would be more viable without a cooldown and the M1 requirement, but they think it would be heavily op because of rank 20 games... But rank 20 killers don't have all perks anyway and can't down survivors fast enough to make it op either. IDK man, just learn to live with the bad balance decisions.

Blocking Slug Billy/Oni from doing some of these crazy things does also seem like a smarter idea, and the only real change that was done for the lower ranks was the Ruin rework, but it was also ineffectual at high ranks and was helping mask other problems with the game. I do agree that Surge does need some love, but the low rank excuse doesn't hold up considering it's locked behind the Stranger Things chapter. The single most expensive chapter. Not to mention that the survivor perks from that set were also pretty weak.

  • There are a lot of factors that you have to omit from your statement for this narrative to fit. Here are ways to counter that statement:

    • Healing directly off hook
    • Running perks such as Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike
    • Bodyblocking the target
    • Rushing generators as that's what KILLERS SAY TO DO

So, yes targeting the injured one is an efficient way of removing them, and if you also go by the clearly outdated notion of 4k for a win. I personally prefer the idea of the current Pip system indicating how well a killer has performed, and my personal preference of killer main also leans me towards balancing out the Hook states of all the survivors and having a drawn-out game in order to be very highly rewarded.

If you do "need" to target this individual, then I do highly recommend what @SMitchell8 has commented above, and that is to slug this target as they are still in the game and able to have some semblance of enjoyment and it also wastes a lot of time (or even an Unbreakable) rather than making 4/5 players hate the other 1/5 for one of their actions and all run perks like Decisive Strike. Imagine how horrible it would be if that perk were to appear in loads of games.

    Oh wait.

It's like the survivor is spitting up blood at the survivor, but I figured having it as a projectile wouldn't really work. It's meant solely as an anti-camping perk. It can also only be used on first hook, up to 3 times. Or, like, 6 times if you also have Slippery Meat.

Maybe then have less range as 15m is pretty far. Main problem I also see with this is people using it instantly to annoy the killer and just encourage them to full on face-camp because someone used this perk to stun them asap.

  • Well, Survivor is a less stressful experience, at the cost of less rewards and less overall excitement.

That and some people, like me, aren't in it for the survival itself, but more to help the others and see just how long and how far I can drive you as the killer insane. Difference is for me, I do it without meta perks and no items.

1 … 22 23 24 25 26 … 70
