The advice shouldn´t be do bones. It should be: Do ALL bones. Doing some bones doesn´t counter noed, just like preventing 2 gens to be done doesn´t stop the gates from being powered.
All I hear though is "just do bones" when I'm the only one on the team doing it. I'm just over hearing it.

Tell ya what?
No. I do MORE than my fair share on the team. I did the counter as much as possible and I'm still the one to suffer.
All I want is for something NEW to be said, rather than the same recycled garbage constantly. Looks like that's just too much to ask for!

Years ago during a world cup the American goalie tallied up a world record in saves for a match but still lost. That's how team games work. This post is absurd and in no way invalidates saying do bones
Oh, but it does. And why? Because I DID the counter, or at least attempted it and telling me to do what I'm already doing is no excuse.

you dont know how ds is used. How is that an insult?
Well, maybe because I DO know how it's used, you twisted my points and attempted to put words in my mouth and change the discussion.
This is about the excuse "DO BONES" which I do. I prioritise it. Killers need a new excuse.

No, I DID bones. Nobody else did.

"Counters to a majority of Survivor perks are merely a change in mindset or playstyle, such as trading hooks to apply pressure and avoid Decisive Strike AND Borrowed Time. NoED requires survivors to go out of their way in order to stop one of your perks."
First of all, learn to play before talking, you dont even know how DS is used.
1) A surv is unhooked, then he agressivly runs to unhook teammate and simply jumps in to a locker. (most killers do not tunnel , so checkmate).
2) A surv is unhooked, then he runs to repair a critical gen that at 90% of progress if you come closer he simply jumps in to a locker You have a choice between wating about 20-50 seconds or losing a gen. Even if there was no locker and you put him in to a dying state he can simply crawl away.
3) A surv is unhooked, then he start repairing a nearest gen without trying to hide/leave a place he was hooked . 80 sec takes repairing of one gen, DS has duaration of 60 sec. Most likely there are 2 survs on the gen.
4) A surv is unhooked, he gets heal, he starts playing agressive and risky , he baits you, bodyblock you, he helps his teammates in recovery from dying state etc, you hit him once and he goes in to a locker or he lures you away in to an empty corner. You cant pick him up and you wasted time
"The so-called Survivor equivelant, "
second. there are ONE killer having 4 perks and 4 survs having 16 perks. They should not be equal, he is killer and must be powerful and scary.
Rather than actually adapting to applying pressure through various means, or learning how to improve in chases, NoED is used as a safety net in order to get kills that one would not normally be able to achieve
wow, why would anybody pick such usefull perk? He should learn, adapting and do 232312 other things. Why? Because you say so? You can also say that people should playi without perks at all without any tracking perks or perks such ruin/pop because BAD habits!! you have to learn playing without them
MYSELF and getting killed after only one hit and hook.
such tragedy , how can you live with that ? Guess you must be immortal.
You mind trying that again without outright insulting me?
Thanks.

If you're already doing ALL the bones, then no you dont need to, because noed wouldnt happen. But the post says that you still encounter noed.
If you dont want to rely on randoms, then run a perk to ensure you cleared noed.
Otherwise why does this post exist?
It's a non issue. People love to complain about what they could remedy themselves though.
So, again, if noed is an issue FOR YOU, RUN A PERK TO HELP WITH YOUR ISSUE.
"Not a fan" of small game? Well then try detectives or accept you may miss bones.you cant ignore a solution and then complain about the problem.
I average 3-4 totems solo per game. With tallies like that, and trying to deal with OTHER problems, I don't have the 10 perk slots I need to cover everything.
My issue is that I don't have the TIME to get all 5 of them, and occasionally I will have searched what feels like the entire map. Even Small Game didn't help me actually find those last few totems. That and I don't have Detective's Hunch unlocked as a teachable.
And I've probably said this 20 times this thread, but it isn't the perk, it's the excuse of "Just do bones" that I take issue with. Because I DID them. And I'm always the one to get hit.

Turn playing DbD into your fulltime job, and play stupid amounts of Nurse.
Congrats. The game is no longer a game about fun, but you've become skilled in the best killer in the game!

A solo player can also run detectives hunch or small game.
If noed is constantly a problem for you, use the perks available and remedy it.
Funny thing is that I don't need to. I just need teammates who will do ONE or two set of bones.
I'm already doing them when I see them. Not much more I can do! And I have also tried Small Game for an Archives mission. Not a fan.

Its not about DS or Unbreakable, its about NOED. It might be true that DS can be unfair aswell and should be adressed, but why use it as a "counter argument" for Noed?
Same with the endless Mori / Key discussion. "Key is fine because other side has Mori". 😩
People don't have an actual reply so they try to change the subject. There are those who have actually put forth valid counterpoints that I will address, when I'm available to do so as they will take a while and faster when I'm not on my phone.

- NoED gets equipped so that it doesnt get activated too ? Which killer wants to see all gens being done ? It's just a "Plan B".
- Adrenaline is a really powerful perk, it doesn't matter if its temporary or not, it still comes in clutch since with that speed boost there is no way the killer can catch up to you. Just because its temporary doesn't mean its not a powerful perk.
- Exhaustion perks create bad habits. Why learn how to loop better when you can just press E to Dead Hard into the pallet ! Meanwhile, there is a perk that is not activated until the end of the game where the killer gets a second chance ! You play with 3 perks the entire match and survivors can still complain about a perk that has no use until the last minute of the game.
- What ? Doing totems are not survivors "going out of their way". Thats basically another objective ! You should ALWAYS look for bones, who knows, the killer might have Devour Hope.
- NoED is chewing up a perk slot until the end of the game, if you want to counter it easily you should too.
Overall, you are just whining. You didn't talk about why NoED is bad or stuff, you just said "If you pick NoED, don't complain about DH or DS or BT or Adrenaline". Was this your point ? If so, its a stupid point. All of these 4 perks are second chance perks that give the survivor 4 more chances, meanwhile if the killer has 1 second chance perk (the only killer second chance perk) thats bad ? And the perk doesn't even activate until the end of the game. You are just complaining that killers get another chance while survivors can get 4.
It's about the excuse "just do bones". Not NoED as a perk.
-
Object of Obsession, No Mither, Dead Hard, Resilience.
Good luck with THAT one!

Noed is a perk that can go from the game winner perk to an useless 4th slot, like really
And its 4% Movement speed, you have a perk as survivor that also gives you a bonus 4 or 5% movement speed at the end of the game
Dont tell me youre able to do all the game unseen as the others do gens, and get found just at the end when noed activates on that last totem that you didnt do 🤔
The individual being punished for a teams action or mistake? Yeah like the pigs RBT, the plague cleansing, bringing the killer toward your team mates, etc etc...
DS/UB/BT also gives bad habits ti survivors, Noed aint the only perk that may give bad habit.
>complaining about Noed and then saying that killers dont have to hit the guy that bodyblock you when you dont tunnel, or the guys with DS that do gens, really hope thats a joke or else all you wrote just got busted there.
A killer with Noed is a killer thats gonna be an M1 killer, slightly faster, so still loopable, you can still escape, and you know exactly when it May trigger...
You know rather then complain....adapt, evolve, overcome.
I also play against a lot of noeds when i play survivor, but honestly i dont even care that much about escaping or dying, if i got the BPs , and even there i do my bones 🤷♂️
Hope also doesn't let you pick yourself up off the ground and go to full health.
Yeah, I can go unnoticed. I got to red ranks as a stealth player, back in the days of original Ruin, so yes. I can go throughout an entire game without being chased, or if I am, I don't go down or hooked. Usually I'll get done just after the final generator is complete or if the killer catches me at the gate.
Pig's RBT is indicated to an entire team, not to mention a cascade of problems to kill someone. Plague's Cleansing has audio queues not to mention isn't actually a horrible idea now that she has one fountain available base. Some times I also need to take a breather away from the killer, especially when I've been chased for a while and need to heal.
I never said that NoED was the only perk to create bad habits. Just that it does for KILLERS. As someone who also uses DS for it's intended purpose, I can indeed say that it isn't as bad as how NoED influences killers.
The line after the "just don't tunnel, camp or slug" line was literally about it being terrible and hypocritical advice in an attempt to bait people into saying "it's not that simple".
I did adapt, I did evolve. I don't even care about IF I live or not, but what I hate is the terrible "advice" that keeps on getting perpetuated across these forums. This is not about the perk, this is about how we as a community tell each other how to deal with it.

You are not in the chase if you can heal, you can hide while doing so. You also have BT that is also anti tunneling perk. Imo DS can be 5 minutes long, but if you do objective it should be disabled, like old ruin did. Survivors also don't care about killers fun, but you also have perks do prevent NOED..
"Don't punish the many for the actions of a few" was indeed the type of message I was going for there. DS Abusers are a small group of survivors, and it is annoying to hear people complain about them constantly.
I did also acknowledge the fact that perks like Small Game exist, but did also say that as a solo player I am almost forced into using other perks to deal with other issues, such as tunnelling and slugging, and Small Game didn't make the cut.

So, because you wanna grab that free heal killer should suffer from swf abusing second chance perks ? If fair isn't a factor, why are you complaining about noed ? Man you are full of contradiction and bias for yourself.
I am not complaining about NoED directly. I am saying that "Just do bones" is not a valid response for complaints about it. Nice try.

I think it should be disabled if survivor is doing objective, healing, doing gen, rescue etc..
Tell me how was this fair
So, someone like me who uses DS as protection to heal up should be punished because some survivors like to take advantage of some killers greed? I admit that it sucks to see people do it, and if someone tries to take advantage of me like that, they die next.
Also, since when is FAIR a factor, when tunnelling is fine? So many killers don't give a flying care about what's "fair" to a survivor, but do a complete 180 when something happens to them.
Does what happened to you suck? Yes. But I don't see how that compares to NoED and it's problems being core to gameplay, rather than a community based issue.

@Maperson said:

Decisive Strike is only a problem if you allow it to be, or if survivors abuse the power it provides. It is not a fundamentally badly designed perk.

@Xzan said:
So if your team refuses to do bones, why is the killer at fault? It's frustrating, but I blame the team for it, not the killer.
Noed is fine if you are in the lower ranks or learning a new killer. Otherwise it's just a failsafe if you can't end the game before the last gen is done (excluding endgamebuilds, where noed is legit).
Small Game should get a totem counter or a loud notification should play mapwide, once all totems are cleansed. That would help soloplayers a lot.
It's not the killer's fault, but what is would be the advice of "just do bones" that litters the forums. This is because I am the one doing the bones and getting punished because my team can't carry their own weight, their advice is not at all helpful and I just need to hear anything other than "just do bones" or "equip a perk that doesn't help deal with bigger issues" from killers.

The only downside to that, yes DS and Unbreakable are used with the hope of never being activated BUT DS forces to slug...if you don't see the unhooker (I try and go to the unhooker and if I see nobody..I'll go after the unhooked one)
Well, yes, but the main point there was the hope of it never being used, and hypocritical advice being given to counter a perk that isn't used 100% of the time.

I don't really understand this one. You do the bones every game and still getting hit by noed?
@DudeDelicious is right.
I go out of my way to do bones in EVERY SINGLE GAME just to try and avoid NoED. I'll ignore generators for a good minute or two at the start of the game to focus on just totems. If I miss just one totem, then it is usually me who dies to NoED. Generally I'll get through about 3 dull totems by myself, while also going for saves before I am nearly forced onto generators to get some Lightbringer emblem.

Ah I'm sorry, I didn't mean to refer to you personally but as general observation that close matches should give less "rating" while obvious stomps should give more "rating". The time required to achieve that result is more or less irrelevant, the result is what matters.
But the Emblem punishes efficient Killers that 4k quickly so I never really liked it.
Victory Cube is my thing, 2 kills = safety, 2 kills + some hooks = 1 pip, 4 kills = double pip. Simple but accurate imo.
It's still interesting to compare notes on how other killers conduct themselves.
My main goal has always been protecting generators before getting kills, other prioritise heads rolling.
I've also always been under the impression that "efficient" doesn't always mean smart or best. Just depends on the situation.

Alright, that makes sense if this is the playstyle you like.
The idea of "long, drawn out matches with a spectaculat and non-expecting ending" is a wet fantasy of the devs but let's be honest most matches are decided in the first 2-3 minutes of a match when you realize who you're playing with / against.
If you face weak opponents that get downed in 10 seconds even though they're in good positions then there is no reason to prolong the match, I beat these guys in 2 minutes and that should be a better "performance" than a close, drawn out match that took me 20 minutes to get the same result. It's a bit like winning 16-15 in CS:GO or winning 16-0 for example, the later means you obviously completly dominated the match and therefore your rating should be much higher than the rating of your opponents, right? That is why I still like the Victory Cube system, it was straight forward based on efficiency and that's all that matters to me :-)
Funny thing is that my matches generally aren't what you'd call "close". Normally I have at least 2 generators left.
The message that I was always trying to spread about drawing out games during the emblem system is that BOTH sides are hurt massively by either side rushing, and that I found a playstyle that works massively for the emblem system.
That one scene from Fate/Zero where Caster does the thing is the best way I can put it. Survivors need some level of hope, then you snatch it out from under them.

"allowed" i like this one. Can you define what camping is? from my expirience i say that if you show any intention of defending of a hooked person it means evil camping , just for example 1 is on hook , 3 are alive and gates are open you are camper according to survs you should do something else but not defend a hook, guess you have to close eyes.
So now almost each game i have a boring process when after hooking 2 survs i just pretend i dont see surv coming to save them. the same i do if 2 are dead and 1 is on hook. Great .
all those unwritten stupid rules make game stupid, it should have been about killer killing as fast as possible and survs try to survive as effective as possible, but curretnly if killer makes 4k at and 5 gens are unrepaired killer gets +0.
ah, ofc survs dont restrict themself in any way in terms of gameplay/perks so claudete, flashligts, ds, bodyblocking and each possible tools for winnning, people should be thankful if they dont DC /tbag/suicide on hook etc.
You know that context changes everything, right? If you're still at 4 alive in endgame, then it's a bit more understandable than a pre-overheat Hillbilly staring at me on a hook while revving his chainsaw the entire time within the first minute of the match.
Also, never underestimate the power of the trade. I'll gladly trade survivors on hook as that's a free health state for me.
Those "unwritten rules" are also a cry that survivors do not wished to be screwed over for picking survivor. Majority that say these "rules" are also the ones that DON'T flashlight, teabag or body block.
Safety or de-pip at a 4k is also telling of a lot more things. Generally a reliance on instant-downs and there being no hook saves.
And yes, there ARE survivors who do restrict what they bring into a trial. I for example NEVER bring an item unless I am doing a survivor Archive challenge. I also hate using DS or BT because they are ONE USE ONLY perks, so I normally run other perks instead. Like Self-Care.

Do you promote prolonging and holding the game hostage here in order to farm Emblem points??? What the #########???
If I stomp 4 noobs then that means I stomped 4 noobs, there are no IFs and BUTs. If I STOMP people then that means I am obviously higher skilled as they are overall so I should rank up faster than winning while struggling for 20 minutes - and THEY must rank down because obviously they don't belong here.
Jeeez it must be a nightmare to play against you if you stall and prolong every match in an unnatural way just to farm those stupid emblem points.
@Demonl3y said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1517826#Comment_1517826
But you shouldnt be forced to give the survivors another chance or toy around with them. Thats not how a emblem system should work. Sure you can do it and i also do it sometimes but you really shouldnt feel the need of it just to rank up.
Half the time I try to extend the game, it's to avoid tunnelling and give survivors a second chance to learn from their mistakes. I'm not at all forced into it and I don't force others into farming. What I do I don't even class as farming.
Not saying that you HAVE to do it either. Just that the emblem system promoted longer, drawn out games and that is the playstyle that I naturally gravitated towards.
And yes, Roobnus, I am a nightmare to verse. But not for the reason you think. My top 3 played killers are Pig, Doctor and Legion. When I play killer, I play to be in control of what happens.
With my main, Pig, I use the RBT to limit the playing field and essentially remove a survivor from the situation temporarily then focus on protecting generators, rather than hunting kills. It does slow down the game naturally. Same with slugging recently unhooked survivors, or those with an RBT regardless of an Obsession being present. Pressure to the survivors and they also don't hate me.
There are still plenty of games where I curb stomp the survivor team, but the difference between a 3 minute stomping vs. a 7 minute stomping is easy emblems and survivors having hope. Something more important in this game than other killers realise.
I just find longer and controlled games more satisfying. The emblem system promoted that.
-
@Demonl3y said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1516999#Comment_1516999
I dont think the emblem system is fine if you get only one pip or even only a safetey pip when you killed everyone too fast because you just were too good or the survivors were too bad.
You shouldnt punish the killer for killing too fast.
Same goes for survivors. You cant or punish them for getting camped at the start of the match.
If the killer just killed everyone too fast, then there is the argument to be made that they had the option to toy with the survivors and prolong their suffering. As a Pig main, I specialise in slowing the game to a crawl with a combination of stealth, Reverse Bear Traps discouraging generator repairs and tactical slugging. The emblem system loves me for it, and even if things don't go my way, I still do well.
Dominant killers always had the option of slow-balling it but thought that 4 instant skulls was more important.

Would you type that code into the area when it ask your friends name to send a request to?
Sorry just trying to learn BUT also bigger flaw the Switch does not have Freddy so would we still be able to play if the killer is Freddy?
It's the Xbone thank you. If you're going to insult me and my people, please get it right.
And as for the OP, I don't believe that consoles will be able to see your requests as the Xbone and the Pisspoor both have different ways of adding people and handling game requests. They'll have to add a way in game in order to do that.

I don't think that a system like MMR would ever really work for DbD. There are too many factors that go into how well someone plays, especially for someone like me who feeds off the energy of my team. And ESPECIALLY while camping and tunnelling are allowed.
The emblem system was fine. People just didn't adapt to what it wanted and cried when it didn't support them.
-
Forum rules are cover up those names. Yeah, they're terrible people but witch hunts aren't allowed.
You also played one of the most universally hated killers in the game, as Hags are notorious campers when basically all new players just place half their traps at a hook, rather than actual map control.
Just report them in-game as usual and there's not much else you can do. You want to lower toxicity? You have to change the mindsets of people on the internet. Good luck with that. I've been trying for ages now.
-
Huntress. Easy. Every strength she has, has an equal weakness.
Also @Dead_by_Gadfly you can't tell me what to do!
-
Devour Hope gives survivors an extra objective outside of generators. There's nothing scummy about that. You ignore totems, you get punished. Simple as that.
If a group of survivors LEAVES it, then the killer has a well-earned power fantasy of a game.
You also have four very specific requirements that must be met:
- Hooks. You have to do some of your objective first.
- Unhooks, so no suicides or aggressive BT saves allowed
- an ACTIVE Hex totem
- distance from a hook when the survivor is unhooked
It rewards killers for playing well and punishes survivors for ignoring their surroundings.

im really considering this ty!
Few things to be wary if you do decide to run this:
- Ruin is still a HEX and you can't rely in it all game.
- Monitor adds TR so sometimes you'll be a bit far away. Especially without add-ons. If you don't INSTANTLY detect anyone, cancel FF and chase that first survivor.
- Sometimes this build is better with being aggressive to generators, rather than survivors. If Ruin is broken, then kicking a generator is the better choice. I specialise in slowing the game when I play killer.

Same overall issue. Survivors do generators to get the trap off. The exact opposite of what you want.

OH. MY. GOD.
I'M NOT ALONE!
Funny how being kind to others generally means that they'll be kind in response.

Yea... it's sad but true
Only making changes to one killer's basekit isn't going to change the "meta" unfortunately
I just find that Pig's true strength in this game is forcing multiple people off generators at the same time by existing. It's a slow approach that doesn't reward the player instantly like blinking through a loop like with Nurse or Huntress headshot.
Any changes like this go against that philosophy of DO NOT TOUCH GENERATOR when going against her.

Yea... so when a gen is completed the countdown starts and if any traps are in play they become active
or if the trap is placed after a gen is completed then they can try until the timer runs out...
if another gen is completed before the timer runs out it resets
Seems like it would promote rushing generators as it not only resets the timer, but is the only way to get them off. While current Pig is weak to the gen-rush I feel like this idea will only promote that as a strategy.
I like the idea in theory, especially tying it back to SAW, but it seems easy to work around.
Not to hate on your idea, I'm just very good at picking apart ideas like this. Comes with writing DnD campaigns.
