They're pretty rare now, but I'm actually glad that they are because now I'm getting a wide variety of killers to face. There hasn't even been this massive influx of Spirit players that everyone was prophesying. Slight increase in the number of Oni players, but I only see that as a good thing compared to the same players playing Hillbilly.
-
I have more fun on killer, but I play more survivor.
Killer is just way more stressful, especially for me as a Pig main, but I also find seeing how my stall game pays off in the long run as all of a sudden every survivor is dying on hooks, or the very rare and random RBT kill.
Survivor is a more consistent game for me, and the Archives are also easier to get through. Chases that I escape from feel less exciting as just getting the survivor on the tip of my weapon, probably because there is always the possibility that the killer abandoned the chase, rather than the cut and dry "I downed them, I won the chase" of a killer. Which is also ironic for me as I always preach about the reward of patience and slowing the game.

Tampered timer makes it almost impossible to check 5 boxes even if you beeline to them. A little bit of disturbance and you're not searching the 4th box.

The only point with the timer is that if combined with the right addon and bad luck, a survivor may never get the chance to escape (which fits amanda tbh, but feels à bit unfair) yet i saw a change to the timer that was proposed and that i liked: instead of decreasing the timer, it will immediatly activate the trap (no gen needed) which could be interesting for pressure
Would also like to see her crouch speed get boosted so the crouches and gets up faster to be more usefull, the ambush is a bit more complicated to tweak tho
I'm guessing that this notion of the timer being unfair is if the timer is activated as soon as the survivor is unhooked. Yeah, this isn't super uncommon, but also a niche situation that you do have to devote TWO PURPLE add-ons for and pray for idiot survivors.
That being said as well, ObscurityDragon, I did have an idea for changing Ruleset No. 2 to activate the trap on an unhook. Having Tampered Timer activate it instantly does seem just a little bit too strong, especially for a purple.
-
I use it because I play solo, med-kits have a limited amount of use, random teammates are less reliable than a killer guessing an SWF group and Franklin's Demise is a perk.
-
Tampered Timer is one of the few ads-ons that is actually fine with Pig. The ones that need changing are all the ones relating to skill-checks and jigsaw boxes that aren't Gears or plans.
It'd be nice to increase her crouch walking speed, and move the roar back to the start if the dash, but I have also used that roar for mindgames.
Add-on pass for sure, slight number tweaks everywhere else. Lots of potential with Piggy.

*Insert usual it's too early reply here*

Um. No we don't. Lower ranks are definitely more of a problem with tunnelling, and camping.
Here are my 3 main builds that I run on Xbox for killer, with zero camping or tunnelling:
Pig - Ruin, Surveillance, BBq, Nurse's. Dash add-ons preferred.
Doctor - Ruin, Surveillance, Distressing, Whispers. Calm and Order add-ons.
Legion - M&A, BBq, Ruin, Hex Thrill.
As for the tunnelling and NoED, I hate them and try to discourage them where possible, but there are numerous threads on here encouraging that very same behaviour to all killers.
-
My games have felt the same so far. I'm not noticing any real differences.

My meme was meant to poke some fun at all the PC players swinging their enormous E-peen around lol.
It's all good.
Never understood the whole elitist mentality of PC being a superior system. Like, yeah graphics CAN be better but nobody cares after a certain point. M&KB also isn't THAT impressive either.
-
A friend of a sibling always let's the last kne go because "there has to be one that escapes in a horror movie, to share the story".
Me though? I've been on the other end of the more underhanded killer tactics and it SUCKS. Not to mention that sometimes slugging someone instead of risking a DS is actually really good pressure for a killer with zero mobility.
Sometimes someone will DC or remove themselves rather quickly and it also sucks for everyone else and I don't want others to be punished for the actions of others.

I've been playing only console for 18 years. You think I care about being one of the "cool kids"?
Just gonna sit here playing my video game with a controller in my hands and a cold beer next to me.

I am only going by what i see. full lobby of pc players? We win or tie.
Full lobby of "other platform" users? Survivors seem to go down in 5 seconds to an m1 killer, because they are too busy attempting to 360 and nothing seems to get done.
360's are just easier on console as you can't just wave your aim like with a mouse. Autoaim does also screw with it a bit.
Give it about a month and they'll all do it less.
-
You know that not all survivors are in any way, shape or form toxic, right?
Your post makes you seem like the type of PC elitist that the average console casual (like myself) bring up whenever we share issues with PC gaming.
By all means, go and destroy TOXIC console players, or just toxic players in general, but most of us are here for fun. If we don't annoy you, don't grief us.

Depends on a lot of factors, but I think that Anna has the upper hand in a majority of situations.

But I guess that was just my bad luck.
Xbox Is super strict with that sort of thing. Just report them instantly.

The difference is thaf console players are generally quieter.

No different from the usual then.

You guys must be the exception, not the rule. I rarely get tunnellers, but I had one last night so I'm not removing DS just yet.
As an Xbox player, I'm also suspicious of anyone with TTV in their name, even as someone who has streamed on Twitch.

I knew gens, but not pallets.
Not that I ever farm. I might do a little bit of it, if people DC on me, but that's so that the other survivors aren't punished for their salt.
-
Did they announce a date?
-
So far? Pretty happy. Majority of the current issues can all be attributed to the community (second chance meta, camping, tunnelling and slugging) and that can be put on the developers on some capacity for not trying to remove it, but overall the game could be in a worse place.
The fact that there are also such loyal content creators and even huge licenses from some of horrors biggest titles is an amazing achievement for such a small developer.
And say what you will about bugs and optimisation, but I find that to be part of the charm. Like how the Entity keeps making imperfect copies of locations, it mimics how an interdimensional being can't comprehend our universe completely, so a lore need such as myself can appreciate that part.
They have also gotten better with player feedback lately, and now the only main issue that I would like to see changed is how balancing is handled. Less full reworks, and more small number tweaks. We are seeing that with Hillbilly's overheat mechanic and I do think that it is a better idea.
Could be better, could be a LOT worse.

Instant downs? WACK!
High mobility? WACK!
Anti-looping? WACK!
Me? I'm tight ad f*ck! First time I played killer I'm too cool for any specialised playstyle, but that's because I hadn't figured out there's only one way to play it RIGHT! With a stealth ability on one button and a lethal/stall secondary in the other, crouching next to a generator, stabbing survivors and regressing generators. Or was it repairing generators and booping survivors? I can't quite remember, I was too busy giving the Entity a reason to keep putting me into trials.
Welcome to a Crap Guide to Killer.

Sounds like me trying to learn Oni. Always decently higher ranking survivors and I get destroyed.
Yet somehow the Entity LOVES me playing Pig and I rarely have a bad game as her. Or Doctor and Legion.
-
Dude looks like he w as just mad that he lost to what is perceived as one of the weakest killers in the game.
Considering that the others didn't have a single message, based on how you've covered their names, this may not necessarily be an SWF group.

Toxicity on both sides are insane right now because of People’s frustrations, and the toxicity just makes everything worse.. killers being bullied with flashlights, teabagging and insults, by the team who just came from 3 matches in a row being camped and tunneled to death... this killer will then out of frustration Bring his worst build and a mori to the next match and so it goes on...
I Think if everyone actually tried to switch side just for a few days, to see what the opposite side is dealing with, would help a great deal.
This game is insanely hard to balance, but I do believe removing/reworking keys and Moris, increasing gen-times and adressing tunneling would be a good place to start.
People wonder why I respect the DS, even with no obsession. It's for two reasons:
1) Practice.
2) Because I have been that survivor.
Same sorts of reasons why I never bring an item into my games when I play as a survivor. It's because I play both sides and I respect them.

this was my bad i probably shouldve rephrased this a little better. all killers require good input and quick decision making however when it comes to using your power these are the few that require a lot less input to get the same result, throughout these killers you can use skill but this skill used is transferrable between killers and not linked to their actual kit. aside from basic knowledge of when to use your power
That does clear it up a lot. Thanks.
Outside of turning (console player, don't bring up flicks.....) I don't see any mechanical part in Hillbilly that differs from normal. It is just one button and time based. Probably part of the reason I hate him so much.

that good way to go about it.
It works for me and it's worked quite well so far. Usually ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away, but for these perks, it does.
I have only been hit by two Decisive Strikes all year, and one of them was deliberate. They worked on a generator in my face, so they died next.
I also don't slug the last two, and rarely after the first kill, so either the survivors waste time picking each other up, or they waste Unbreakable. One in the dirt/RBT, one on hook is an incredible time-waster.
-
Well with players still prioritising kills over emblems, then they needed to either tell people to focus on them (but even THEY don't know what a "win" is) or come up with a new system. They tried and it didn't work.
-
@Kumnut768 said:
okay heres a revised list from someone with 6k hours this does not mean these killers take 0 skill but require basic killer knowledge in order to play
deathslinger
spirit
freddy
m1 killers, (like wraith and ghost face)
doc
leigon
myers
that is all killers in my eyes who does not require as much input as say hillbilly or huntress in order to use their kit effectively to pressure survivors
Hillbilly has input? ALL of your abilities come from one button!
And much like my comment at the top of this, mechanical and mental skills are different and required for every single killer in the game, with various amounts of each. And even then, different parts of that skillset. Trapper requires the mental skill of laying traps in strategic positions, but low mechanical skill as he is a basic killer. Hunttess has the mental side of situational awareness and tracking, with added mechanical sides of aiming hatchets.
Didn't take me 6000 hours to figure THAT out.

You explained that better than I could ever have hoped to.
Thank you! It's nice to see that people actually understand what I'm saying too.
-
Well, there are two different TYPES of skill: mechanical and mental. Mechanical is literally aiming and general movement, where mental is all the mind-games, spacial awareness and how you act on the information you have. Two completely different skill-sets.
Deathslinger has a limited range and requires precision with a projectile-but-not-really weapon. It is a pain to use on console. Other than that mechanically, no. He isn't a mechanics heavy killer. You end chases super quickly and that's your thing.
Spirit is 95% mental. Phasing throws off so many people because it just removes all information. The skill comes from mind-games, and knowing WHEN to phase, not how.
Demogorgon could be in the same boat as Hillbilly if we want to go there about Shred. There is also the element of setting up with it's portals and how they can be used for tracking.
Executioner has a fair bit of set-up and his Judgement of the Damned is more easy to see comkng and bait. There is also a lengthy animation after using JotD and it takes a chunk of his Rites energy. Using Rites in general is something I categorise as mental skill, with using to to shut off some loops or have a bit of tracking.
Hopefully that clears up some things for you.

Some of us have JOBS and lives outside of a video game, so coming in with this elitist attitude of time makes the difference isn't going to help anyone.
Time in game does not also equal skill, and just because you have seen things be worse, doesn't mean they aren't bad right now.
It is also important to get the opinions of people with different perspectives, and yes I do indeed mean the casual community. Just because we aren't streamers making a living off of a game doesn't mean that we don't have a voice. Games like this are normally balanced around the majority of players, not the elite few for MOST of the changes.
Yes, we should back off the devs every time a new balance patch or change is announced, yes this game isn't easy in the beginning and yes, I think we're ALL sick of the OP/Nerf culture that has grown.
But honestly? I think that you're going about it the wrong way with mindlessly insulting people and telling them that their opinions don't matter. Take a day away from the forums and relax.
-
The community and their perceptions of how things are/should be.
-
Trying to use hair dye on a beard is tougher than it seems. Especially when it's shorter. That's probably the reason.
-
I'll make you a deal. Remove tunnelling, and I'll go back to running Resilience.
As someone who has DS equipped for it's intended purpose, I don't WANT to use it. I don't go into a match with the mindset that I will use it, unlike Lithe, Self-Care and Spine Chill. It is literally there to tell tunnellers to shove it.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I mean, if someone DS I go out of my way to tunnel them out of the game, even if it means throwing.
Its a win win, you teach the prick a lesson as well as lower your mmr if you lose.
Even if they use it for their intended purpose? I only have it equipped because of a rise in tunnelling. When it dies down, I'll switch back to Resilience.

But Billy and all other killers should be artificially limited right?
Yes. If you want to rely on an instant down in order to get kills, then you should have a trade-off. That being don't rely on a power for all downs, or use up more perk slots.
There are also a lot of add-ons for killers with damaging or "offensive" powers, such as the status effects for Huntress' hatchets or Wraith's uncloak boost.
-
Hook responsible timers are 2:30, I believe. Old Sabotage used to be about the same, but is now only 30 seconds or something like that.
Original Sabotage USED to be permanent, but that got changed before I started and THAT is something I cam certain of.
-
If you're chasing them next to a hook, that isn't camping. Problem is that, and especially in the lower ranks, Wraiths are notorious facecampers.
The survivors here also played terribly and are trying to make themselves feel better.

Yeah sure....just crawl around with the pig at a very low speed so that they can do 2-3 gens by the time you checked 2 or 3 gens.
You dont often play the pig or red ranks do you? Cause the pig is easy to spot on most maps and people dont let themselves get gengrabbed that easily there, plus a lot of them have spine shield. Plus they usually heal quickly with another survivor, cause you know...theyre neither stupid or blind...its the red ranks not the rank 30
Yes Freddy technically is unlimited, but he can place only 10 Traps at a time, but freddy is another story there and he should also get a nerf anyway.
Hag forces you to stop for a sec every trap you place
And you seem to forget that one of the most busted and unfun move from the old hillbilly was actually to patrol between 2 hooks, giving a strong pressure and making it almost impossible to save, as long as the hooks arent on 2 sides of the map, ive seen so many billy do this, and its really borring, either you let your 2 mates die, either you take their places cause even if you wait for him to leave you know hell come back at great speed and catch up.
I never really licked playing against billy cause most of the time his m1 is useless since theyll just get close and chainsaw you like a bubba, his m1 being mostly used for a window (from all the billy i fought)
One tip for blending as Pig is to actually buy her black leather biker outfit. No joke, it really helps.
I love the robes, but BRIGHT RED is the exact opposite of stealth on any map. Characters with glowing eyes have a better chance of blending than base Piggy.

The 3 of your arguments aren't even a problem in the first place in terms of balance, and they make no sense as they can even be easily compared to other killers
1- You could always completely go in stealth with pig, WHENEVER YOU WANT ITS ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO HER, why aren't her legs cramping? You could always uncloak and cloak, you can always place a dream snare or a hag trap, you can always hold m2 and shred with demo, you can always just ADS and shoot with slinger, you can always vomit on people whenever you please #########??!?!?
2- Ok so you keep "holding it indefinitely", how is this even a point? Okay so i hold my chainsaw for 9 seconds, so what? What am I possibly gaining from that as a hillbilly player?
3- The thread said the addon change was NEEDED, I don't realize why you even brought up this point. It's not even related to the overheat addition?
1) My stealth as ZERO lethality to it. On it's own anyway. Powers like Hag's Phantasm traps, Freddy's Snares and Huntress' Hatchets all rely on a LIMITED RESOURCE. Hillbilly had an unlimited use instant-down with the best mobility in the game.
2) The amount of times that I've seen Hillbilly players hold it around a loop would surprise you.
3) For them to have enough add-ons to fit the standard amount, then the Overheat mechanic WAS NEEDED.
-
I think that the cooldown was necessary for several reasons
- His saw, his POWER, replaced his actual weapon so much and was always available to him.
- People could hold it indefinitely by toggling the charge. Every other killer is all or nothing.
- There are only so many things that his add-ons could effect, which would also be why there were so little add-ons for him.
Just something to think over about the Overheat addition.

how you deal with them in the EGC? or you god killer no survivor last that long.
Simple. I don't bother with them.
There are only two extremes with my games: no endgame or complete gen-rush. It comes with playing Pig, Doctor and Legion the ways I do. It also helps that I play for simple hook trades, rather than going after the unlucky unhooked one. If they BT block, then they waste time mending.

Killers brought it upon themselves... lol. Yeah, okay.
Meg's right. And the first sentence in my comment is kind of all the explanation that is needed.
If killers didn't slug, camp or tunnel as much or in the way they do, then Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike and Unbreakable WOULDN'T BE USED. Or a lot more rarely than they are now.

thats not what i meant tho. why should i be ds by a fully healed survivor who i didnt tunnel but just happened to see so i went after him.
Well, unless they did something stupid like divebomb a generator in your face, then there's no other way to put it but yes you did. Healing doesn't take THAT long, even with Self-Care. And if TWO people are healing, or we add med-kits into the mix, then there's virtually no healing time.
