  • Usually used as a sign of respect from survivors.

Same with a quick double crouch being a "thank you".

The objectives are nowhere near as interesting and almost absurd?? Was that a jk?

So having 3 different methods of escape (+waiting out the match) is more boring than running from gen to gen, and escaping via a car or the police is absurd compared to 5 generators magically allowing an escape... Solid logic.

    You sir, are special.

For me it was always stumble across the item randomly, take about 10 steps outside and get done in by Jason teleporting next to me.

    Fun.

  • I prefer to have the survivors at my mercy, and just enjoy the hunt.

With the way play, I'm actually surprised when people die on hook, because I spread them out and don't really remember who's on what hook state.

Its probably because F13 isn't trying to be a competitive game like DBD is. I played KYF with my friends the other day (Most of them were new) I had the most fun checking to see if they got in lockers or if I could actually pull off my hit. I stopped caring if a gen got done too fast or if I thought Freddys glove shouldn't have hit me. I wish F13 didn't get dealt such a bad hand, it could have been the best asymmetrical multiplayer game yet.

I'm not a competitive player, yet I still prefer the more competitively focused side of DbD. Wish that my friends who suggested DbD to me would come and do some more customs.

  • Yeah, I've had the opposite with F13 because once Jason finds you, you're dead. The objective is also nowhere near as interesting as the generators and almost at the point of being absurd. Most of the time it boils down to "survive as long as possible" and that is not fun to me.

Never had the chance to be Jason though.

  • Haven't noticed a difference in my matches, but 360's have been harder, and I can usually tell if they aren't going to be as effective against the killer. Basic sidestep jukes have been a lot easier to pull off though.

Still have to try killer with cross-play, but Destiny's Solstice of Heroes event is a real grind and is taking up my time.

The only negative thing that I have to say is that there has been a sky-rocket in elitism coming from some of the community. I'm in the same boat as @Unicorn when it comes to being over seeing them, but I'm nowhere near as nice about it. I've pretty much only played console for 18 years and have always felt that consoles are the true gaming device because it is literally what they are built for.

  • Haven't played killer yet with Cross-play active, but o the survivor's side, I've noticed no change in the quality of my matches.

No, because 1 perk shouldn't counter the killers entire ability.

Small Game, Slippery Meat, Spine Chill, Object of Obsession, Dead Hard and Sprint Burst all counter whole killer abilities, and some of them AREN'T Trapper!

  • You would think that, but COVID-19 has proven that the average IQ these days is lower than the digit used in it's name.

It's not like I didn't already do one. At the bottom of the post. And left it unlabelled so people will actually read what I have posted so they don't miss any context. Y'know. The reason I don't do a TL:DR.

ofc you will protect your main

    • Traps are extremely powerfull because it prevent you doing gens
    • her dash reach and speed are equal to sprint burst (I can't escape even with that)
    • Patrolling is actually easy thing to do. It just guess
    • If pig decides to patrol boxes and using her crouch. Its GAME OVER for survivor.

Why would I protect my main when I call out literally everything I think needs it? Legion is my second most played killer and I don't defend them at all.

    - You are in no way PREVENTED from doing generators, highly incentived against, but not prevented.

    - Sprint Burst is a little slower, but you have a LOT of time, and therefore distance, if you use your ears and sprint immediately when you hear the obvious roar.

    - Patrolling is easy, because it is a KILLER'S bread and butter alongside chases. This is nothing unique to Pig and if you want to claim that boxes are additional and therefore exempt, then you are leaving out Pyramid Head and his cages.

    - Yeah, it's game over, but again you are INVITING THE OTHER SURVIVORS TO DO ALL THE GENERATORS.

  • As a Pig main, I will say this.

    - Traps are less of a big deal than you think.

    - Standard movement with no chase ability.

    - Stealth ability is slower than a survivor's movement speed, so patrolling maps is harder than with Spirit, a slower base killer with a mobility power.

    - You CAN patrol boxes, but much like camping a hooked survivor, you are inviting people to just do generators quickly.

And of course ANY killer doesn't need to actually hook anyone for kills. That's what the bleedout mechanic is for. The only killer slower than a survivor is Nurse, too and killers NEED to be faster to win a majority of chases.

    I find your analysis lacking.

  • @Nobsyde said:

    @PigMainClaudette

How do you deal with gen-rushing then? If it's an organised squad, I can't. That just comes with not playing highly mobile killers.

The problem with DS/unbreakable/BT is all here. If a team doesn't gen rush, then you can play fairly, otherwise... you have to deal with these perks eventually. The alternative is hooking a total of 8 survivors and still nobody dies by the end of the game :P

Yeah, the last team to rush me had different perks to the usual meta, and they were all the same ranks at two of each in 11/12. Didn't stand a chance since I was a stealthy Pig on Haddonfield.

That line was also for people inevitably coming with the "but, the gen-rush", and it was more of I myself can't perform in an organised gen-rush, rather than the perks carrying the survivors.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

So the key to play against UB/DS and BT is to hook everyone 3 times and hope they are not doing gens. Got it. Never thought of it !Just don't TuNNeL and TaCtIcAL sLUg. My god, you guys are a riot. A guide on how to play against solo players smoll pp when solo players will most likely not use it.

Here is the kicker, your entire ""strategy"" ( which basically boils down to playing like you should at average ranks ) falls down the moment survivors realize that only one needs to get off gens. That's it. Good luck applying pressure to 4-3 gens at the same time. Sorry, 2 if you are "tactically slugging". Then you have to go through endgame with DS/UB/BT with most people either not on death hook because you spread your hook stages or just one of them on death hook that will most likely play super safe.

Force them off generators, not hope they're not doing them. Pig main, remember. Used to RBT stall.

And yeah, it's for average ranks. Most people are IN those average ranks!

Funny thing is too that this "endgame DS/BT/UB" thing that people keep complaining about never happens to me. They're generally all dead (or 1 hatch escape) OR a total gen-rush that I just cannot stop. There is no real in between with me.

  • @RepostRiposte said:

Hey just wanted to make one comment on every reply so far:

It doesn't matter if you "avoided" DS by patrolling gens instead of capitalizing on pressure

It doesn't matter if you take the time to down unhookers instead of unhooked survivors and prevent getting Decisived

Any way you slice it survivors with DS will always get insane value out of the perk because it forces you to play killer inefficiently and go for non-vulnerable targets regardless of whether or not that involves getting a piece of glass in your shoulder.

The saddest thing about all of this is that I don't avoid DS for the stun, I avoid it because I have been there too often.

People keep on complaining about these perks, so I figured I'll share how I deal with them.

But then I get smartass comments like the one from @handfulofrain trying to undermine me after I take actual time to write these.

  • Microsoft already have issues with people using M&KB on console and ban anyone who uses it* as they are using illegal, 3rd party hardware/software to be able to do so. There is also the fact that you can just turn cross-play OFF which means that console players would be forced to verse M&KB players after opting out of doing so.

but its a team game you are a team its not my fault you cant make safe unhooks

Which is why I DON'T make unsafe hooks and make the one who did have a spike pierce their back. NOT the unfortunate person on the hook. You want to punish the team? That's good enough punishment to me!

It's attitudes like yours that have forced this second chance meta that I am trying to change. Thanks for the help with that.

  • Plz no. It's already an uncommon perk and changing it will only force more survivors towards the dreaded Second Chance Build.

Stealth killera are also rather uncommon as is, so there isn't a huge amount of Spine Chill going around.

  • @Slashstreetboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1544969#Comment_1544969

Well by efficient I mean "good" as in making the right decisions. If a survivor gets unhooked in your face the natural thing would be to smack them right back down as they are vulnerable and there won´t be the need to play loops (which sometimes aren´t really interactive, like the car loops on autohavens, haddonfield and springwood). Given the right perks they have a 3 to 4 layer perk defense at that moment so it forces the Killer to make the bad call and chase the healthy survivor.

I also love to hunt but I kinda dislike being forced into playing intentionally worse just to play around their perks, which I feel is currently more of a one-way street unless the Killer uses NOED.

What can I say? I punish the one who unhooked.

If I had BOTH on the ground, then the one who unhooked is getting hooked and the other eats dirt for a bit.

it doesnt matter if its a good pratice to not tunnel the survivor if you do a unsafe hook in front of me i will not let you go unpunished for that stupid mistake

Yeah, It's called TRADING HOOKS. What I'm saying is don't go for the one that got UNhooked, because it avoids DS and THEY weren't the ones who made the unsafe unhook.

Punish mistakes of those who MAKE THEM.

I've tried the alternatives. I've tried playing around second chance perks. At the end of they day, they're too easy to force. Maybe I'm just unlucky, maybe it's just my region, or the time of day I play, but in general the only thing that has ever really worked for me is to force them all as early as I can, because if I play around them my loss is almost guaranteed. Still, I hope that maybe this will change, or even better that it's just me and I somehow mistranslate all the advice I get on playing around them.

    What killers do you play?

Also when the current Destiny 2 event finishes, I'll be streaming a bit so you can always stop by and see what I mean with everything.

  • @Slashstreetboy said:

I also realised that the ever so prevalent threat of DS/UB made me adapt to a certain playstyle. I get DS´ed pretty rarely because of that.

The downside is that it forces an unefficient playstyle on the Killers end. So best one can do to avoid an avalanche of 2nd chance perks beating you home is to be efficiently inefficient, if that makes sense.

I´d like to see some downsides to stacking 2nd chance perks though. I´m nowhere near a top level survivor yet I´ve beaten so many Killers just because I had busted perks on.

To satisfy the whataboutism of some people: I had similar stuff happen back in the day when I occasionally ran NOED. I got a down or two per match that I didn´t exactly deserve (could be argued that they could have easily done bones though cuz I wasn´t that great in 2018).

Somehow just playing Pig competently has netted me results that also happen to avoid these perks and still do well.

I also prefer the HUNT of playing killer over the kill, so I've never been concerned over "efficiency".

Even if there isn't an obsession, I don't tunnel for two reasons. I've BEEN that survivor, so I hate to see it and do it, plus it's also just good practice.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1544916#Comment_1544916

I, too, go up against a lot of potatoes that have somehow achieved red ranks. Like it or not, you "naturally avoiding" the problem doesn't really work when it's shoved in your face. At least, that has been my experience, and the experience of most killers. And that's without even mentioning the whole concept of perk abuse.

And the truly tragic thing is the sheer amount of value that I, as a survivor, get out of perks I don't have. The number of times I have jumped in a locker and been left alone, or even better camped, or been slugged after touching a gen is insane. That's how I know these perks are problematic. I have singlehandedly won games against otherwise skilled killers because they didn't want to call my bluffs. The second chance meta is awful.

I agree that the second chance meta is absolutely abysmal and the only perk of those that I run is DS just to deal with TRUE tunnellers. If it were up to me, I'd be running Resilience instead.

My hope is purely so that a few more people start doing this, then either the meta shifts or killers receive some buffs.

To me campers, tunnellers and sluggers brought on this meta and contribute to the overall issue of killer power. Now, I should also say the usual NOT ALL before someone jumps down my throat to put words in there again. I slug occasionally, but tactically, so I call out people who slug 4 people as being terrible at the game.

Not getting into an argument about who's right, but I will say that rather than calling for changes to the game, I'm attempting to get the community to adapt and actually try alternatives first.

  • @MadLordJack said:

What you have basically described is the perfect way to consistently lose, and the perfect excuse for second-chance abusers. Like it or not, there is nothing okay about hook bombing, doing gens, or healing in the action with multiple layers of protection. There is nothing okay with jumping into lockers to avoid getting slugged. There is nothing okay withplaying completely mindlessly and still "winning" because you used 12 out of 16 second chances.

And I cannot recommend ignoring gens enough. If that's your playstyle, fine, but you will lose more than you win unless you are stacking regression on game slowdown on gen control, which is a huge, seperate problem in DbD.

You can pretend to avoid second chance perks as much as you want, but at the end of the day that doesn't mean they aren't getting huge value in your games, and it doesn't mean that they are in any way okay in their current state and stackability. Someone doesn't have to stab you in the shoulder to get huge DS value.

Aaaaaaand in a cruel, ironic twist, I actually do really well for myself as a killer constantly getting Ruthless and Merciless killer results.

Like I said. I have proven it to work even in rainbow matchmaking.

  • @honestscript said:

And then it only takes a few body blocks to over extend that chase and waste your time.

Look. I never said this was 100% only do this. I break this myself from time to time and it is to deal with the direct counters WHEN THEY APPEAR.

The point is to try and waste the survivor's time and how to do it while avoiding their perks.

  • @SirCracken said:

Your entire post hinges on the possibility that you're up against potatoes who can't loop an M1 killer. However, you do admit this by saying you can't deal with people gen rushing. Which is really just a term used to describe organised survivor squads.

But that's where the problems with DS, BT and Unbreakable lie. Not with inexperienced survivors who you can actually afford to waste time ignoring. It is physically impossible to use any of the tips you have suggested in a top-tier game with experienced survivors and not lose pressure defending gens. (which is the killer's only other objective besides killing people so I don't know why you mentioned that as an alternate strategy)

Basically, the main problem people have with all of the perks you mentioned is how they're abused to put the killer in a lose-lose situation. And nothing short of changing the perks, or preferably the objectives since they're years overdue for a change, will fix that.

    Um. A few problems here.

I, myself, prefer to play killers that are in essence "M1" killers. I also hate this term as I am a console player.

Coordinated teams focusing solely on generators, in maps like Haddonfield are near impossible to control for any killer that isn't like Nurse, Spirit or Hillbilly.

"Top -tier" is I'm guessing all reds, some of which are rank 1. No, I haven't been there but I'm also assuming neither has an overwhelming majority of the playerbase.

The thing about prioritising generators is about prioritising them more than straight kills, something I see ignored on a lot of posts on these forums.

Yes, survivors abusing these perks IS an issue, but this is how I personally deal with them and have no problems. If enough people try this, then there might be a natural shift in the meta AWAY from second-chance perks.

  • @honestscript said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1544740#Comment_1544740

If someone hops on a gen in front of you then they're asking to be targeted. A perk shouldnt make you invulnerable and allow you to complete a full gen.

And I did say that if they do that, then delete them from the game. One of the two DS hits that I have taken WAS someone doing that very thing to me.

  • @honestscript said:

Why doesnt DC deactivate after you've been on a gen? Seems like the easiest fix that could be made.

OR just don't target the same person. Usually I can chain from hook to generator to chase, while also being quite far away from said hook. Again, death-wish players.

  • @Zozzy said:

TLDR Hope the survivors are bad and uncoordinated (not swf with coms)

Not at all. Like I said, I don't play the usual highly mobile killers and if you're better in a chase than I am, my advice will indeed do quite well. The problem with the coordinated squads for me comes from not getting to my objectives in time. Those being RBT's on quickly and forcing survivors off generators.

EDIT: This is also for the perks and how to deal with them. Not destroying SWF hit-squads.

  • Well, unfortunately when survivors are near constantly forced to run perks to stop tunnelling, camping and slugging, then there's not really any room for a perk to deal with a niche perk that survivors should be doing stuff to counter anyway.

It's nice to hear some pigs don't tunnel, but most do, so pig will probably stay hated until her rework.

She doesn't need one, and anyone who actually takes time to play her properly knows that tunnelling is hot garbage. If you want some time, I'll do some Customs for a stream and prove certain things that I have been saying on these forums.

I think that the hatred towards Pig is heavily misguided, and I have similar feelings about Wraith and the myriad of lower ranked players who use him for easy face-camps.

Please. you are just jumping down my throat because you don't like the answers your are getting. these perks have not changed in the last several months. you telling me that i'm saying "perks esist don't complain" because you are not listening.

You use what you like to use, i don't normally run unbreakable, ds, flip flop, tenacity all the time either. you don't see me complaining about someone saying to use them if i'm upset about being slugged. also

Unbreakable: recover faster, plus ONCE you can get up without the aid of another. (multiple uses)

DS: single use only (I'll grant that)

Flip Flop: exchanges 2 units of recovery to one unit of wiggle when picked up (multiple uses.... great when unbreakable to speed getting to max recovery)

Tenactiy: allows crawling AND recovery at the same time. this allows you to not be where the killer would expect you to be and still recover and be ready to pick up by unbreakable or other player (multiple uses)

Only one of the perks i've talked about is single use and it's nothing to do with slugging. thing is slugging has been a thing in dbd for years, it's not going away. It is done for many reasons: 1) the killer enjoys it, 2) the killer sees another survivor and goes after them immediately, 3) the killer doesn't want to loose their power (oni), 4) person goes down due to deep wounds not being mended out and is too busy to go right away to pick up the slug, and many more. Tunneling exists because it can be seen as an efficient way to remove people from the match instead of inorganically going after a separate survivor for some contrived reason.... is it fun as a survivor? no.... but it is a choice and one the killer makes, not the survivor. Do you do it? i don't know but the point is more what can you do AGAINST IT? nothing there is no definition of when a survivor is no longer "tunneled" only one where they are. hell i've been accused of tunneling someone i never hooked!

I think that we're talking about different slugging issues here. I'm saying that it is more of a problem when EVERYONE is slugged, as in all 4 survivors, or the second to last is slugged because the killer can't possibly risk hatch. Not every survivor plans for that, and having perks is a good idea, but it can't be the ONLY solution.

I'll admit that I myself do occasionally slug ONE survivor to help stall the game, but there are indeed survivors to pick them up. Same if I get the recently unhooked, which does also avoid DS. Just not everyone.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Pigs like to tunnel and she is basically just an m1 killer in chase. Bear trap rng is annoying as well.

    @redsopine00 said:

I think it's because pugs are known to tunnel camp and focus out good loopers as they can completely ruin her game plan

    @ggezbaby said:

I don't like pigs because many of them just tunnel the guy with the trap on their head, and make the game miserable for just that one person. i.e they'll follow you with your trap on, while they're crouched, so they don't initiate chase, and wait for you to get it off, then down you and trap you again. They'll do this over and over again until all the gens are done. not kidding, they don't even care about the gens or winning, just ruining the game for the one person.

Again, it's obviously not everyone, but the reason some killers are hated as much as the pig is the particular scummy strategies they like to implement using that killers power.

That's NEWER Pig players, and the least optimal way to play her. Something that I and a lot of other Pig players are trying to discourage a LOT as it both brings us down, similar to guilt by association, and it's generally just a terrible way to play.

Unfortunately the logic that goes into trap-tunnelling is also the very logic that I use against it: You know where that survivor will be and what they're doing. Trap-tunnellers use this as an excuse of them being vulnerable and easy to pick off, where I prefer to have a slow game and say that if you have an RBT, I can write you off from the match until it's removed so I can focus on the generators more. Coincidentally it also helps me avoid DS outright, and if I run into a trapped survivor, then I slug them. Eats Unbreakable too!

One thing that I also like to do @redsopine00 to deal with good loopers is to actually just try and ambush them instead, or go for a straight hook-trade if they are coming at me. That first hit can actually really throw off survivors, since you got it so easily from them.

  • The issue with Spirit is that she takes away the single most important part of what the game is based on: information given and how you use it.

Spirit stands still, and you have two options. She's phasing, or she's literally standing still. There is just no telling where she is or what she's doing.

If they removed the husk, then maybe it would solve a lot of issues involving her.

Not to say you didn't lead a good chase but if you only got hit once then it wasn't a good nurse.

She could blink, but she couldn't TRACK. It may be because the nurse player was rank 15 and everyone else was 17-19, myself included on that account, but everyone was going down immediately.

If you don't use any of those perks, you are risking losing when the killer makes slugging.

If you don't use slowdown perks, you are risking losing when survivors makes genrush.

Having said this, both sides are fine.

"You have perk available, don't complain" is not exactly a helpful statement. Especially since there are multiple survivors to level up and get perks from. A perk being available is not the solution to a majority of the game's problems.

Decisive Strike is meant to discourage tunnelling, yet there are people who power through it and others who will keep going after the person who used it on them. By your logic there, DS exists, so we shouldn't complain about tunnelling.

did I say that you HAD to run them? no, that is your choice. I added to the perks that could help with slugging but it is your choice of what to run.

It was more the fact that you contributed to the bad argument of "perk exists, don't complain". When I play killer, I do slug a little bit, for stall, but never the 4-man or the avoid hatch slugs.

You see all the more problematic players in the game right now? Also the complaining about particular perks, especially in combination? Add WAY more of that, plus sky-rocket the entitled line of "if you don't like it, then don't play".

Survivors can counter slugging with unbreakable, so they shouldn't complain.

add in tenacity and flip flop. and many more other perks that help them later.

Not every single survivor runs the same perks. SOME of us prefer more general use perks, that aren't one use only.

FFS it's comments like these that make the community so divided.

For any of those players, here's how to play against Pig 101: if a survivor goes down, best NOT complete that generator immediately.

They should just delete killers instead of nerfing. So few will play nerfed killers anyway it's better to change to something new.

You severely underestimate the power of the Pig fanbase. I doubt that there has been any killer who's been nerfed as much as Pig.

Before EGC you can just open the gates and hold the game hostage. Now you 99% it and hold it hostage.

It's not holding the game hostage as the killer can open the gate themselves.

But yeah, survivors figured out that one almost immediately. ECG doesn't trigger if the gates don't open, and it gives a bit more time to go for that last minute hook-rescue without time pressure and there's less chance of the killer camping in endgame for that one kill.
