They're doing it to boost viewer counts and make it appear that Dead by Daylight is bigger than it is. Hoping to bring in some fresh meat to buy some skins and DLCs.
-
This entire update have been a buggy mess. BHVR once again stamped their Seal of Quality on it when shipping it to Live.
I've no idea how they can consistently screw things up so bad.
-
At least you could buy the skins for some AC. Don't you want to? BHVR wants you to.

Chill. It just started and will calm down.
They've shown their hand and things won't change.
-
This.. "event" literally sucked every ounce of motivation I had for Dead by Daylight. I was excited to farm me some cool skins like last year but now its just a grind-extravaganca with that "pay-2-skip" frosting on top.
-
People need to wake up and see BHVR for what they are. They're blinded by corporate greed and every action they take in the game is so that they can make more money.
But remember! Its all optional.
-
The point is simple. Make more money. Corporate greed makes everything worse.
-
Urgh. Charms.
-
Much of the issues console have boils down to BHVR not caring for consoles to begin with. They pushed their unoptimized, bugridden game unto consoles because they saw a chance to increase their revenue. That's it.
-
Sounds like a bug. No surprise there. Every major update is just riddled with bugs, glitches and other stuff.

I already tagged them a few times but no reply.. they are obviously busy but i just hope consoles are fixed in time for the event :(
They're too busy for anything console related. There's macrotransactions to be added and money to be made!

While it might imply some cool lore ramifications, it probably just means it's buggy as ######### on some killers.
This makes sense.

Yep.
More evidence: The battlepass. Players who buy the game on the next-gen consoles are not able to get the items, unless they have a time machine. If they cared about those consoles they would remove the time constraint of the battlepass, let players buy and progress them whenever they want.
Another example is ironically the Graphics update. Its nothing anyone anywhere asked for. What was asked for was optimization, bug fixing and an improvement of the matchmaking system. BHVR's priorities are totally out of whack.
-
The only reason why DbD is on console is because BHVR saw a perfect way to get more money. If they cared for them, there would have been a huge focus on console optimization.. which there haven't.

I like it as Trapper main, can make a dead end.
Though I dont like breakable wall is a chord for Killer and a memory test: break this for easier game, and do not break that. Breakable wall should brings strategy between breaking or not. Each should has pros & cons.
Here are some Sims 4 pics for my ideas:
2 breakable walls completely cover a room that contain a chest. Pro: Survivors not getting chest. Con: Gen distance too far to patrol
Break 1 wall. Pro: create a dead end trap to Survivor if they run into the room during chase. Con: they get the Chest
Break 2 wall. Pro: Gen distance is closer. Con: lose the dead end trap
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IAVNC6CXPT2W/image.png
Your case here
If Killer isnt a trap killer, they have to destroy the wall to remove infinite loops
If you're a trap killer, you have your choice not to break the wall but put a trap or 2.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5GNECXQ9FXK2/image.png
Keeping the wall. Pro: once Survivor vaults, it will take them alot of time to find a way and go back to the Gen. Con: you may never able to catch them if you vault and continue the chase
Break the wall. Pro: now its easier to catch Survivor. Con: survivors have another way to access Gen

I believe mine ideas may have flaw.
I commend your creative use of the Sims to portray map layout.

I'd not spend money on BHVR's macrotransactions. Save it for something more fun.
-
The console versions were never anything more than another channel of revenue.

How are they pusing the limit? They allow original characters to be purchased with in game currency. They even allowed licenced perks to be purchested with in game currency
Every single transaction is purely optional. So yes you should be thanking the devs for all the ways you can get things in this game with shards and how you aren't screwed if you don't pay for microtransactions.
God forbid a company trying to make money
A perfect example was when Pig got her $15 skin. It was the only $15 skin in the game. The excuse was that they had to do "more" with that skin than others, thus is "justified" the price increase.
Some time later, we started seeing $15 "legendary" skins that's literally just a reskin with nothing unique about them. No new sounds or whatever. Knowing that, this is just an escalation of prices. No doubt players gobbled it up whole and BHVR's probably confident that they don't have to do anything special about "legendary" skins for players to buy 'em.
And stop with the "its optional" argument. Its so #########. We're not getting macrotransactions pushed in our faces all the time because its an "optional" thing. BHVR don't want it to be "optional". They want you to crack and start spending. NO game out there with macrotransactions added them into the game with the mindset that it'll be "optional".

Lol the only macrotransactions in this game are pure aesthetics.
You can call the devs on a lot. Greedy is not one of it though. They could get away with so much worse.
Of course things can be worse. They always can. That doesn't mean I should thank BHVR for 'only' going this far. They're pushing the limit, little by little. There's an allegory about boiling a living frog in water that perfectly represent this situation.

No, then we'd have $30 map packs and $60 season passes.
But this would be after shoehorning those same microtransactions into the game, then deeming it a failure when it doesn't break their own self imposed sales projections. Then they would shutter down their own studio after making a FPShootan game with a cops ands robbers aesthetic in the middle of a race war.
Still mad about Visceral.
Never played the game so I don't really care. Don't care much for Riot's stuff anyway. Its all Chinese funded.

The only reason Legacy stuff ain't being restored to those who lost them to BHVR's very own saving system
I think it is valid for them to expect that players who have legitimate legacy (and didn't lose it, as in they currently have the items) might be upset if even a few players wrongfully get legacy retroactively. I don't know how likely this would be, but to me it seems like that if you hacked your achievements during the "legacy period" (with some sort of achievement unlocker) without actually playing you might be getting legacy illegitimately.
Simple solution for that: Make a survey that is only available to players who currently own legacy items and ask them if they would be OK with giving legacy items to players who should be eligible for legacy but currently don't have it based on the achievement date.
Have the achievement unlocked during relevant period and then have a video or screenshot of your legacy skin and that's all that should be required. Ample proof right there.

You say that but it can get a lot worse.
Booster packs, inventory space, and randomized pulls for important items.
Oh and crafting, with an RNG based enhancement system.
I am fully expecting that, plus lootboxes, to come to DbD eventually. Its all a matter of time. BHVR's looking at EA and Activision-Blizzard and scribbling down notes on how to further make Macrotransactions worse.
-
The only reason Legacy stuff ain't being restored to those who lost them to BHVR's very own saving system, is because BHVR themselves are too lazy to bother with it. The old playerbase, those who've stayed with the game since the release, ain't worth their time. There's more money to be had from new players, who will buy DLCs and Macrotransactions before leaving the game from burning out due to all grind and frustrations.
-
I hate it when they reintroduce literal infinites by adding Breakable Walls, leaving Killers no choice but to break them.

It was. BHVR is continuing doing what they do best, making the game worse for everyone via macrotransaction bullshit.

On a serious note, I feel bad for you console players. From what I´ve read it´s really bad this time, isn´t it?
What would you expect when BHVR releases a graphical update on a version of DbD running like ######### already? Consoles exist only to rake in more money, nothing else.

Huh?
This wasn't in the patch notes
It sounds more like a Bug than a Feature.
Ain't surprised though! Screwing up audio is a BHVR staple.
-
Its like they wanted to punish every Killer who left Discordance at level 1.
-
They're pretty cool but unless there's a way for me to get them via Serums they're just another macrotransaction to me that I won't get.
-
We really don't. Heck, I'd want post-chat permanently removed. It only causes negativity.

Even if you did add some kind of hook timer pause when the killer is camping that would mean survivors can rush the hook with no disadvantages, they can just loop around the hook and the survivor wont die.
They tried that in the very first PTB but it was quickly exploited by survivors, so it was removed.

One add-on messes with game mechanics. The other just grants a movement speed boost.
My guess is that the Devs just didn’t want to commit to constantly updating and bug fixing the Killer add-on forever, since it alters Killers powers. If they don’t want to maintain the coding to keep it working, they can just name the Halloween event something else and effectively retire it.
It should be both or neither. Increased movement speed for survivors is powerful as #########.

@SquillDBD said:
No. The simple change is to just delete mori offerings and make the cypress mori core game so the killer has an opportunity to mori in every match if they 4k.
I'd prefer this one. Let the Killer either Mori the survivor for a nice finish to a game or hook 'em for some extra points to increase rank.
-
Hag.
-
The only way to counter "hook sitting", aka camping, is to rush generators. If people stopped rushing the hooks to save their fellow survivor (or DC'd straight away), the killer wouldn't earn anything.
-
I've not believed in BHVR in a long time.
-
People have been asking for this since the release of the game 4 years ago and I think BP itself is kinda.. ehh. There should be a bunch of Iridescent Shards in there as well to make it really enticing.
-
There was an attempt to stop camping way back but survivors ended up abusing it, so BHVR removed it.
And there is actually a way to combat face-camping. Its called leaving the survivor on the hook and rush generators. If the Killer gets rushed and earn literally no points at all, they'll stop doing it.. hopefully. The problem is that the majority of survivors out there cannot leave anyone hanging (literally) and will suicide dive the hook in a desperate attempt to save their fellow survivor, thus rewarding the camper who'll continue doing it.

Whether they stay quiet or not doesn't matter since the event will happen anyway and we'll find out whether we're overreacting or not.
I'm hopeful that I'm mistaken and they simply didn't mention the serum available in the battlepass and decided not to say anything and simply let us be pleasantly surprised.
The "event" being tied into the battlepass still sucks, but if we have access to free Halloween goodies it's more tolerable imo.
I am expecting the worst as long as I don't know how it'll turn out. However, the cynic in me is full expecting a "no way to get free skins without excessive grind" take on this year's Halloween event.

The more the fact that the devs arent talking to us about stuff that should be know by now, the event is in 2 days and we barely know what skins we are getting and if we can get them like last year with the serum.
The reason why they're not telling us anything is probably because its even worse than last year's Halloween event. The grind is going to be worse. Heck, I am expecting that we won't even be able to earn Serums to unlock skins this year. Everything to make people fall victim to FOMO and spend money.
-
Kinda feels like it should drop this week but I honestly don't know if I'll play. All the leaks so far point towards them Halloween skins being locked behind Iridescent Shards, requiring 500+ games (if they're optimized) to unlock them all. Doesn't look like there's any way to gather unique currency to unlock them as we've been capable of previous events.
-
I got hooked (on the game).
-
SWF would be fine if it wasn't for third-party VOIP programs. The ability to talk to your fellow survivors is what makes SWF so broken and disliked.
-
If they're trying to see how the community would respond to data they should have dropped something we could use. The data we got was a complete mess of statistics from all platforms, ranks, maps.. everything. We cannot use it for anything.
-
Generally no.
-
They need to remove perk tiers and improve BP gain overall.. like reworking BP offerings so they're more streamlined.. or removing BP category caps so there's not 8k per category but 32k in total per game.
-
@ToxicMyers said:
Because a majority of killers would only play against solo, making swf queues almost infinite and killing the game
It'd not happen if there was an incentive to play against/with SWFs and lobby indicators for them. Like, bonus BP or increased Iridescent Shard gain.
I mean, it would happen in the beginning but most people want to play games.. not play an endless version of "I hope this lobby has no SWFs".
-
Survivor is such an extremely chill experience compared to Killer. I only play Solo survivor.
-
Never going to happen since its a popular SWF perk. It'd make survivors upset and upset players are not as inclined to buy macrotransactions.
