Is it me or were the recently released statistics a test?

Looking at the statistics and given their seemingly purposeful lack of clarity I have to ask:

Were the developers testing the community to see how they'd respond to statistics?

Given that parts of the community processed it logically and realized they weren't total statistics given the generator numbers were clearly wrong(It implies ~0.16 generators get completed per game).

While others used them to instantly harass other parts of the player base without even knowing the context or validity of these numbers.

The numbers being for the archives and thus are meaningless also adds to this idea.

So if it was a test I think the community failed mainly due to the numerous members trying to harass others using them and thus we won't be getting any more statistics for a long time.

  • That´s what I suspected, too. Guess the community failed.

  • If they're trying to see how the community would respond to data they should have dropped something we could use. The data we got was a complete mess of statistics from all platforms, ranks, maps.. everything. We cannot use it for anything.

You do realize they have records of every match, right? Many matches go on without any survivors completing 1 gen. This is the accumulation of their statistics that they have accumulated over a period of time

Please check out Peanits clarification. You seem to have missed it.

Exactly, we can't use it for anything. Yet harassment and screaming was still commonplace, at least on these forums. Trying to use any bit of information to squeeze into a survivors/killers op narrative.

Yeah, and they didn't give us records of every match. They gave us matches where an active tome challenge was completed in relation to the stats. Like the Dark Sense Challenge (that infamous one), only when that challenge got completed did it count towards the stats the devs gave out.

I obviously did. But they have the servers, they have the counter, so I'm going to believe the stats. I'm seeing so many posts of "too many variables" and "that doesn't look right" but after blight release, the stats look 100% legit. I survive 1 every 10 matches at this point due to camping, tunneling, and 1-hook tunneling mori. The quality of gameplay has dropped due to killer toxicity.

On the other hand, Peanits literally said the stats are just regarding trials that advanced the tome, which are automatically unusable.

Ok then. Thank you for not throwing insults and explaining that to me ❤

I've had enough fights on these forums to realize how pointless they are and to know that it's just better to be nice about things. Of course.

  • Or... they just published them because they thought people might enjoy them and find them interesting.

  • if you play this game a lot, you don't really need statistics to see where the problems lie, and then bringing up the issues you have with other people that also play the game a lot can confirm your issues.

A glaring issue I see with modern game devs is that they simply don't play the games they develop, and they rely on statistics and spreadsheets to balance their games. This leads to mechanics that are statistically sound, but feel like utter crap experiencing for yourself.

Fortunately for many game dev companies, there's a large amount of very passionate players that are willing to put in the thousands of hours it takes to be able to pick at a game's vulnerabilities and exploit them to then tell the devs where the problems are. The issue with DBD is that the devs choose to largely ignore these players and they change things that no one was complaining about, which would be ok if the game was in a healthy state and didn't have very serious bugs that fundamentally alter the game that have not been fixed for years now.

Not in the slightest, it's purely a celebration of one year of the Archives/Rift. We wanted to share what was achieved by players during this time, they're not statistics in that sense of the word.
