He's never been available in Lights Out and they said it had to do with the dream world not working right, I think lighting wise, with lights out.

Overall, I've had a fun time. I don't take these alt game modes THAT seriously; if you've ever seen any of my takes on alt modes, you'd notice a pattern: the only thing I really want is to not be out of the match before it really started (if I'm survivor) and for pure, unadulterated chaos. Even got mad when Legion was removed from 2v8 (but that's a different story).
Honestly, to me the only thing that could make chaos shuffle more fun is also random offerings. Like seriously, I want all in on the randomized chaos. There has only been one match during this time that actually annoyed me, and it was because a Huntress hard tunneled me out at 5 gens, like would literally drop chase with a survivor and come find me whenever I got off hook. Every other match has been interesting, and I get to try and use perks I don't usually get to, which is why I like the mode to begin with.
-
If you want to disconnect because the chaotic randomizer game mode gave you random chaotic stuff instead of the strongest add-ons possible, I think you need to just stick to regular mode. You don't "need" those add-ons to win, especially in a mode where everything is randomized. You aren't at any worse of a disadvantage than survivors. Like, the most they get to pick that isn't for both sides is an item type, not even add-ons, rarity of the item, and there's only like 6, you get to choose between up to 43 powers (depending on the amount of killers you've bought). So again, if queueing up as a specific killer in the randomizer game mode is going to cause you to disconnect if it doesn't give you the strongest stuff and/or what feels best for you, either pick a different killer that doesn't have that criteria or play the regular queue.
-
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one not seeing these guys. The last time I saw Ghoul was over 10 matches ago and the last I saw Jason was over 20, like my most recent matches have been
Clown, Wraith, Legion, Legion, Artist, Hillbilly, Pyramid Head, Clown, Plague, Freddy, Wesker, Oni, Ghoul, Doctor, Bubba, Blight, Hillbilly, Wraith, ST Vecna, Wesker, Bubba, Wesker, Jason, Krasue, Huntress
That's what? 18 different killers in my last 30 matches? (Obviously not including my killer rounds) and only 1 Ghoul and 1 Jason in all of it? I know it's because I don't always take this game seriously so I probably am not the highest mmr on the planet, but it's just wild how much more variety I get compared to others. (I will be real though even for me I didn't realize how much variety I've had recently like wow)
Now that I've said it I'm about to enter Ghoul/Jason hell.
-
Honestly? At first I was annoyed when I realized how bad it was, but now I just deal with it and run NOED to try and get something in end game. It is what it is. Like make complaints heard for next year, but they don't usually change events in the year they occur.
-
I decided to switch to killer after getting bored of survivors dc'ing and giving up immediately, and holy hell, WHO OKAYED THIS???????????????????????? Did they just not think at all? Who decided it was fine to have one of the possible main courses be teleporting, invisibility, and if they set the tables instant healing. If you get that main course it's literally just gg go next you aren't getting anywhere as killer regardless of who you play. I literally just had survivors do that against me, they would set the tables to 3 plates and hold a plate in their hand and when someone would get hit they'd just finish a table healing the survivor immediately then they'd eat their plate and go invisible and leave. It was miserable.
And there is zero counterplay to this as killer.

are we talking about survivors giving up bc that's been an ongoing issue for years despite how strong survivors are.
Yeah I know it's on going for years, but it feels like it's happening more right now idk, maybe it's just me.
-
So many people are just giving up in my matches I've had the opposite experience, which is so weird because based on what I've heard people say and how it sounds on paper, I shouldn't have that issue, like is my mmr really that low and not being helped by this happening? (At least for survivor, idk about killer)

One thing I don't understand is the Springtrap comparisons. I know I'm not the only one who remembers when people comparing Springtrap to Huntress and Ghoul to Legion. And they all turned out to be completely different killers. Like can people wait until the characters are out before they start making these comps.
Likely seriously the only comparison I see to Springtrap is that he has a projectile… but so does Huntress, Deathslinger, Trickster, Artist, etc, so like WHY Springtrap? Their powers don't work a like at all.

The Trapper 2.0 is uttered by anyone who is going heavily off of "Trapper is a stand-in for Jason", while knowing next to nothing about the actual films.
In the entire original franchise, Jason hasn't ever actuallty set a trap. The reboot 2009 Jason set one trap. Jason is not even remotely close to a trap adjecent killer. I really feel like the people reducing Jason to just a guy with a machete severally lack any sort of creativity.
I feel like people highly underestimate what they can do. Myers is just "Guy with knife" and they still took advantage of his main thing being a stalker guy with knife, I don't know why they can't do a similar thing with Jason. Take something he's known for outside of guy with machete and make that into the power. I've seen some people and creators mention a possible rage mode and I could see that with the limited knowledge I have about Jason.
-
I know a lot of people are saying "He's gonna be Trapper 2.0" but I don't think the devs will do that. Even killers like Springtrap that have parts that feel very (insert killer here) 2.0 are still very different mechanically. Idk a lot about Jason because the only Friday the 13th I've seen was the first one and I funnily enough watched it on my birthday an undisclosed amount of years ago because I was born on the 13th and it was a friday. So I thought, what better time to watch it than now? Though I want to actually watch the ones with Jason as the killer.

They won't if they have even an ounce of self-preservation. However, next year? Oh you bet it's going to be doubled if not tripled what we had to do this year.
I hope not because this Blood Moon is actually fun and feels so good because it felt obtainable early so we can take full advantage of it. It felt so horrible to take until the last 72 hours to get the good rewards.
-

Someone said that the progress is way further along this year because we have gen perks to account for and BHVR (in BHVR fashion) didn't account for the huge increase in progress on the Killer end. I think we'll be at 500% by Monday TBH. Which is a genuine dream come true because that means we'll have roughly 2 full weeks of endless BP.
Watch them panic and do the worst thing ever and double the requirements lol
"Due to how fast the community obtained the 5x bonus, we are unlocking the rest of the challenges and shortening the event! It will now end in 3 days. Happy Blood Moon Event everyone!" - what they would do

You forgot that you also needed to collect the Blood to fill up the Generators. Yet you make it seem like it happened instantly and it was not needed.
It is a fact that Killers complained a lot last event and this event it gets changed. Not that I care too much, but you cannot deny that this is exactly what happened.
(Killer Powers is a different thing tho and I am happy that they changed that. But I think Perks in general not working on both sides was fine)
I don't see how it's a massive issue though, yeah killer perks work, but guess what? So do survivor perks. Like the change still benefits survivors so I don't see the need to complain and paint it like it's all killers fault this happened. Like… I should be mad as a survivor that killers complained and now my perks work on all generators again? The issue I present is still true, I didn't forget you had to collect the blood and bring it to the gens, but if multiple survivors are doing that to the same gen (which they did, there's no denying that), it didn't really change much. Not to mention the tanks tended to spawn last year a lot closer to the blood gens than they do this year, and some of them are still pretty close.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Because Killers complained. And if Killers complain, there will be changes.
There was plenty wrong with them. Having generators take that short amount of time to complete with no way for a killer to really do much about it, it honestly made the tunneling problem this game has always had even worse and it made playing killer feel miserable. Some killers, like my girl Piggy, basically had no power anymore due to nothing affecting blood generators and there were 4 of them. Literally if you just focused down the blood generators, the first RBT wouldn't activate until the final generator was complete. It was absolutely broken and in favor of survivors last year. It's not just "because killers complained" it was an actual bad idea and I played mainly survivor last year.
-
As long as it feels better than the last two years, then again that's a low bar. Killers tunnel harder because gens are flying faster and it takes until like the last 48 hours to reach the final bonus and they refuse to start at a Blood Feast level which they used to just give from time to time. I honestly at this point, giving opinion prior to the event, would rather have my once every few months bloodhunts back than continue with the blood moon event.
However, if the changes feel good enough and we can actually take advantage of the massive bp, I guess it's fine. I'd like it even better if they reworked the offering to something better. I've had conversations with my friend about it, event offerings besides the anniversary are so boring now because they all do the exact same thing. If they made them more thematic, they'd be more interesting. Make for the Blood Moon the ability to get 200% more bp during the match and [enter some exclusive to the event thing] and have it be event only. Even if it meant making it personal, I'd take that over the current effect. I honestly don't get why we have an event dedicated to getting massive amounts of bp when the devs have made it clear they're against that idea and enjoy the grind, even with the things they've done to reduce the grind.
I guess we'll see if this year is actually better or if it's still not worth the time.
-
I don't see why not? They're doing comics now for some of their killers and we have so many other mediums in the game, it would be cool to see.

Please feel free to share any feedback here so we can communicate it to the team!
Not releasing a dlc, but still making us pay when there are past dlcs that were just base game feels extremely greedy. People have been begging for a free chapter for a while and this would have been the perfect time to do it since there was no plan to release a dlc. That's my opinion.
Edit: For further clarification, yes iri shards may be free but they take countless hours to obtain, 9k shards may have been completely free to obtain, but it did cost your time and energy to get. So even if it's not a monetary fee, there was still a fee for it.

@GhostsCore said:
This is completely ignoring the fact that there are 2 killers in this mode (one which greatly benefits from injured people) and the fact that as a result of their power. You are being chased far less than normal.
Yes, Legion on their own isn't the issue. But nobody wants to play an amplified mend simulator because that's what Legion was best at. Keeping everyone injured for their teammate. Which meant you weren't chasing individual survivors for very long.
It sucks we lost Legion. But if we included them again, I'd frankly rather they have a different kit exclusive to 2v8, like a disguise killer as shown in their trailer. As while a 1v4 disguise killer would suck, in 2v8 they'd be able to pass off as a survivor far more consistently due to the sheer number of survivors. Add a sice ability to help in chases and the devs would have a great way to test the reception to a disguise killer and how they'd work. (This will never happen though)
Honestly let's just test a version in a ptb without the mending, it may not change the fundamental issues with Legion in 2v8, but it might help enough that it's managable.

I admit the giant head stands out the most from the 3. And its cosmetic potential would be quite interesting. I believe the powers are alredy being chosen seperate from the look of the killer, like we alredy seemed to vote on an energy beam and sending people to another realm based on what sins they built up.
What kinda drives votes away from thr giant head tho is the fact that we threw away having beasts and mutants and cosmic being because most voted for a divine angel like killer. So in most of their minds the first 2 seem to fit the general description of what they were hoping for from the beginning. The head however doesnt really seem much like an angel. And it would be odd to see the whole process start by the community wanting an angel and then ending up with a giant head walking on arms lol.
I hope we get to explore more of the options someday as there were quite a few interesting killers to vote for
I think what also doesn't help the floating head type killer is that the last killer to release prior to that vote, not counting Vecna in the PTB, was a floating head killer. So there's probably also a large chunk of people that were like, "Was just there, did it, wasn't fun, what else ya got?" which could have deterred away from choosing it.
Though I do agree with op that it's an interesting idea and I hope in the future they explore something with that option since it was so different from the other two more normalized angel silhouettes.
-
I love how when there's an outage for a game mode for a couple hours they compensate millions, but a map offering that's been in the game for 10 years that people have spent millions on in total and likely not having used them all? Best than can do is a 250k.
-
Demo? Agreed. Pig? Her traps don't decapitate. They just rip the jaw, though it would be neat if they updated it still.
-
This entire post completely waters down the issues with the changes that they made. Also you totally made up how long it is until they test it again, they did not specify how long it was going to be. Though honestly, if you really need a long break from dbd just because a change isn't going live because it was bad for the game, then maybe you should take a break whether or not this is rage bait or real.
-
I love all the complaining about "killers always getting what they want" during a patch that is still survivor sided without the anti tunneling and slugging changes. No one cries louder in this game than a survivor main that is told they can't use abusive mechanics that can cause a win win win scenario for them. Then them turning around saying "it was more interactive" no it's not. It was just your side was the side that got absolute benefits from it instead of the killer side.
-
So they're tweaking it… and putting it on another PTB. Then pushing them live when they believe it's ready. That's completely different from what you said. If they were making tweaks then pushing it live "no matter what we say" then it would be coming with this chapter. Which they straight up say in the part you circled they are not doing.
-
Although I feel like the narrative of "WE SAVED DBD" might be a tad harsh in retrospect, the honest reality is if those changes were praised by the community, they would have made it past PTB and made it to live. Unless they outright say "We're only testing this, we don't plan on it going live," it's likely planned to make it to live unless it is extremely heavily criticized. They in fact did not say they were only testing it and not planning on it hitting live prior to the announcement that they heard the community feedback. The only reason we knew it was never going live is because we already knew how we would feel when testing it because we play the game.

People are worried because, historically, when things have been pulled back, they usually get butchered and remain ineffectual.
Recent memory shows Fog Vials, for example.
More historically? Anti-Slug was pulled back once to be reworked and then got scrapped for multiple years.
Likewise, AFC sounded really good, but it didn't really end up changing a whole lot in terms of frustrating gameplay. If it was bugged and didn't let you unhook yourself, I doubt anyone would even notice.
I think there is a justified worry that BHVR is going to turn the system into something it shouldn't be, instead of addressing (as you said) the issues with the system, which are completely fixable.
Not trying to dispute the point because either way what I'm about to question wouldn't change the point since they have a lot longer of a list than just those two things. However wasn't the point of the initial anti-slug because they were testing it alongside the original state of the finisher mori which would have promoted extreme slugging? So the reason it was scrapped was because they decided to go in a completely different, and much more wanted, version of the finisher mori?
-
Congratulations! I honestly need to start doing that too… I'm never getting that achievement waiting for the map to show up since I've still only played on it like… twice on live.
-
Maybe it's just me, but I personally saw maybe 1 appreciation post for the changes for every 50 posts that were mad about the changes. Also "My opinion is why you shouldn't have cancelled it" is an entitled statement to make. Like sorry you have to wait a little bit longer for them to make it better? I know this may be hard for survivor mains to hear, but the reason the developers aren't listening to you in the way you want to is this mentality survivors have had for years that their opinions are superior and killers aren't allowed to have any strategies and have to play in a way that caters specifically to their wants, which is to escape. For that reason they can't just destroy all forms of every killer strategy. I know it's so shocking to find out that the other sides job isn't to cater to you in a pvp game, wild concept.
They will do their best to make it so there's still instances where strategy is allowed, but also still punishing the forms you all actually hate which is the hard tunneling early in the game. Personally when I play survivor that's all I ask, I don't want to be the first one found then the killer ignores everyone else on the planet to go after me then tries to claim it was "because I was the weakest link" but they didn't go after anyone else to know that for sure. I made a massive uproar about it during blood moon because that's all killers were doing.
That is not what that system in the PTB is promoting. There were instances in the PTB where a survivor wouldn't be tunneled AT ALL, but it was still possible to punished by the anti tunnel system. You call that a good system that should be implemented? I sure as ######### don't. I don't even care that that will be bleeped out because it's stupid. It's stupid.

I can tell just by OP thinking killer is better than survivor that they're either super inexperienced, and or they just suck as surv. Cus anyone whos played this game since the beginning knows how this game has never ever been in the killer's favor. Thankfully its nowhere as broken as it was then, but its still drastically obvious which role is better (its survivor.)
I honestly agree. I honestly think all we need are changes to the extreme uses of tunneling and slugging that are so unnecessary like what happened with camping. Survivors will still complain because "tunneling and slugging are still a thing," um yeah… you can't just remove strategies from a game to win because the person who loses doesn't like it. That's a terrible way to balance, hence why the changes needed to go back to the kitchen to cook a little longer. Though I guess you can't tell survivor mains that because they think they are entitled to escaping every round because they're so awesome and perfect and all the fault lands on the mean old killer who didn't just leave them alone all game. Tunneling the first person you see out at 4 or 5 gens remaining? Sure make changes to it. Make it so that if you're barely getting hooks at 1-2 gens left you punish killers for trying to turn things around like you'd be allowed to do in any other pvp game? No it needs to be fixed.

I'm going to raise the bet here: Even if they obviously don't play, don't they have a consultant program where prominent DbD players give their opinions on future content?
How is it possible that nobody looked at these changes and told them, "Bad idea"?
Knowing bhvr and a video I saw a long time ago before it was an actual program and they'd sometimes just invite cc's to test stuff out, they probably just went, "That's great, we don't care, we're doing it anyways because you don't actually know how the game works." Ya know, like a couple weeks ago when they did The Walking Dead livestream and Otz made a suggestion and they doubled down that a strategy to deal with hackers wasn't actually a strategy to deal with them despite the content creators knowing for a fact that it worked.

I agree that they should make tweaks to how these changes interact with Twins, but the devs have clarified that these changes will only come into effect on deaths from hooking the same survivor multiple times in a row, so Pig's RBT kills and Onryo's condemn should not be affected (and if they are, it should be considered a bug)
Can you please link or show where that is? Reason being because the dev update begs to differ. The Dev Update says, and I quote, "If the Survivor that was last hooked is Sacrificed OR KILLED, generators cannot be regressed or blocked." Killed and Sacrificed are 2 different things. Sacrificed is strictly for hooking, killed is every other way a survivor dies, including but not limited to Onryo's Condemned and Pig's RBTs. (I straight up copy and pasted that line from the dev update)

No it doesn't. If you have to lie to make an argument then you just don't have an argument.
It's a lie to say it doesn't happen??????
Edit: In case it wasn't clear, I was in reference to endurance body blocking and people hanging around their, specifically, swf teammates to go for flashlight and pallet saves. Yes those will get worse and essentially make survivors immortal with the upcoming changes, I actually played the PTB where they tested that with the og version of finisher moris, that is exactly what happened. But pop off I guess if you don't believe me…
-

So in the made up scenario that an unhooked survivor is throwing themselves at you if you slug them they're on the ground for 90 seconds or their team has to stop doing gens to help.
Either scenario is to your benefit.
"In this made up scenario" and it's a scenario that happens often in this game and how these changes would effect that situation going forward…

@Jarky said:
I know a lot of killer mains are gonna hate this because it's been how the gameplay has been for 9 years now, but this is a healthy direction for the game.
Removing unenjoyable uninteractive and frustrating gameplay and encouraging healthier playstyles for both sides is ABSOLUTELY the direction they should be taking DBD. If this results in killers needing basekit buffs to their kits, or more buffs to encourage the anti-tunnel/anti-slug playstyles then so be it, do it. The game shouldn't remain with frustrating elements just because they've always existed.
And no, just use (x) perk is not the answer. Fixing gameplay issues with perk design has always been a negative of DBD imo (and yes, I also have that opinion for the killer side).
as someone who played the ptb the first time they did essentially this same anti-slugging change, they took away one unhealthy interaction and added in a new one, these changes are horrid for the game and that's only talking about the slugging change. Not even going into what makes the tunneling changes bad (SPOILER: they won't only punish tunneling).
-
Not to mention there are just regular situations that do happen that make this change bad. What happens if the survivors leave their solo queue teammate (because let's face it no one is leaving their swf to second) who was hooked first to go to second? The killer can go after 2 other survivors and hook them before chasing that survivor again which is not tunneling and they'll get punished because they didn't realize or even forgot that survivor went to second? Like on paper, these changes are good and they honestly will do exactly what they say, but there's still situations that happen often where they will be abused or activated without tunneling or purposefully slugging. Also, about the slugging changes, did we not already do that years ago during the original finisher mori ptb and discover, "Hey this is extremely abusable and shouldn't happen" and the devs even agreed? Why are we doing that again? It's just going to be abused again.

This is exactly how I feel, like I'd prefer it to be permanent because I prefer the mode over 1v4, especially with not as much to learn and more fun. At the same time though, if they take the survey into account and decide not to make it permanent… that's fine too.

Considering the reputations of both studios working on the Halloween game and their track records… I doubt we'll lose Halloween. Maybe if the game explodes and the dev teams don't shoot themselves in the foot (again), then we might be in trouble. I don't see us losing it immediately though, it would be a bad business move on their part.

considering how accurate the recent match history is, idk about that
Usually I'd agree, but the stats today finally updated to include Springtrap in the listings and I can tell immediately it's false. Yesterday I played 5 matches of Springtrap all lasting at least 10 minutes, according to the match log yesterday. Assuming they were just flat 10 minute matches, and they weren't they were mainly longer, it should have logged me already at having played .8 hours as Springtrap, but it wasn't. It said .6 hours which is less and definitely false. At first I thought they were at least some what accurate also, but I don't think that's true.
-
And this is why the devs reasoning of not testing it in the ptb was stupid. Absolutely everyone saw this coming, but they refused to test it because there's no dc penalty in the ptb. It's almost like the ptb is there to test these things so if they're heavily broken like this… they can be brought back to the kitchen to cook prior to them hitting live servers or just straight up removed. Like the Artist add-ons. What good is a Quality of Life feature that punishes people for not doing the thing they're being accused of doing. It better be removed with the next hotfix and fixed before coming back. I'd rather have someone give up in a match I'm in then risk being punished for something outside my control.

It needs to be removed and sent back to the kitchen to cook. They put very little effort into making a prevention system and it shows.

The devs have gotten in a bad habit of putting score events that should be deviousness into brutal and I'm not here for it. They did the same thing with Ghoul and I'm 90% sure Houndmaster. Like did they forget that deviousness is supposed to be a category dedicated to power related score events? Why are killers recently having all of their devious score events moved to brutal and the few that stay giving like 10 bloodpoints (exaggerated amount, but point understood hopefully)?

BHVR is showing stats now! If you go to the official website, there's a button in the top right that says stats, if you click on that and put in your bhvr account, it'll show you your overall stats from September 2020 to now! They actually show quite a lot. You can view your pick and escape rates for survivors and survivor perks, pick and kill rates for killers and killer perks, you can see a ton of overall stats for survivor and killer and a more specific version of those stats for your top killer and survivor. You can also see stats from your last 10 matches you played and a couple very basic general stats like "How many hours have you played of actual matches" and stuff like that. I'm actually kind of impressed with the amount we can see.
