Event

The Black Banquet is shaping up to be one of the most lopsided events DBD has ever shipped, and it launched today. Survivors are walking around with invincibility, invisibility, portals, temporary unbreakable pallets, and the ability to rebuild and reset pallets while the killer's design contribution was apparently "uh, give 'em poison or something" before calling it a day. The food mechanic is a joke on the survivor side too: the food stations are unlimited and sitting about five seconds away from the tables where you bring them, so the buffs flow constantly with zero effort. BHVR somehow looked at their 10th anniversary event and decided this was the moment to hand survivors a toolkit that makes the killer feel like an inconvenience rather than a threat.

And honestly, at this point even survivors have to be a little insulted at how babied they are here, right? There's no satisfaction in winning when the game is basically doing it for you.

Honestly whats the point anymore, i have no faith in dbd

  • Not to beat a dead horse here (okay, it's totally to beat a dead horse), but anniversary events are often weird/annoying and even more imbalanced than usual affairs compounded by a ton of dormant casuals showing back up.

Why do I tolerate it? The cakes. Without that incentive…

  • So many people are just giving up in my matches I've had the opposite experience, which is so weird because based on what I've heard people say and how it sounds on paper, I shouldn't have that issue, like is my mmr really that low and not being helped by this happening? (At least for survivor, idk about killer)

are we talking about survivors giving up bc that's been an ongoing issue for years despite how strong survivors are.

Yeah I know it's on going for years, but it feels like it's happening more right now idk, maybe it's just me.

Its not an MMR thing. Survivors DCing or standing under hook to soft-throw isn't a skill bracket issue, it's a behavioral one. Years of the game being designed around their comfort has produced a playerbase that treats any match that isn't going perfectly as not worth finishing. Killer got an early down in the first chase? DC. Running a perk combo they find annoying? DC. God forbid they queue into Ghoul or Nurse or whatever killer they've personally decided they shouldn't have to play against this week. DC. And when they don't want to eat a penalty for it, they just walk under hook and let the killer kill them instead. Same result, no consequence. They figured out that dying on hook is a free exit that the system can't touch, and now it's standard practice. BHVR built a penalty system and survivors immediately found the loophole that lets them keep quitting without it costing them anything. This isn't a matchmaking problem, it's an entitlement problem.

When the game has spent years treating survivors as the protected class, eventually they start acting like it. I genuinely will never understand how survivors aren't insulted by the amount of hand holding BHVR does for them, and the latest event is just the natural extension of that

  • I picked a terrible time to try the game again. It's so glaringly survivor sided even still, and this event just makes that go nuclear.

careful, you're gonna call in all the entitled, survivor larpers telling you that you're wrong or cry about how past events were killer-sided (they werent). But yea i know what you mean, I saw "unbreakable pallets" and just went "Nope!"

  • The event is not fun for either side, killer gets green cloud that is just a clown bottle but 50 times better, and survivors have to go around setting tables? Who wants to actually plays this?

    IMG_1595.jpeg
  • The event for survivors is overly complicated, it took me 5 games to even really understand what it wanted me to do. In fact I had to play killer to understand the potential of it.

But then once you go against survivors who make the most of the event, it's one of the most horrible times I've ever had playing this game. The survivor powers are unbelievably frustrating to play against.

But also the killer power is awful to play against. It's just not as good as what survivors get, but getting snared into walking speed is no fun.

Why did we get rid of Twisted Masquerade, again?

  • This is like when killer mains swore blood rush and the new syringes were gonna be meta. Hows that working out? Oh yeah they're both collecting dust. All this stuff that looks good on paper is only gonna be good in cordnated SWFs.

Please explain how last years anniversary was not a killer sided event?

I didnt have fun versing remote hooks and pallet break power. but "you don't gotta play the event que" was a common sentiment when complaints like that where made.

  • I decided to switch to killer after getting bored of survivors dc'ing and giving up immediately, and holy hell, WHO OKAYED THIS???????????????????????? Did they just not think at all? Who decided it was fine to have one of the possible main courses be teleporting, invisibility, and if they set the tables instant healing. If you get that main course it's literally just gg go next you aren't getting anywhere as killer regardless of who you play. I literally just had survivors do that against me, they would set the tables to 3 plates and hold a plate in their hand and when someone would get hit they'd just finish a table healing the survivor immediately then they'd eat their plate and go invisible and leave. It was miserable.

And there is zero counterplay to this as killer.

  • I just returned cause of Jason and decided to play a game of Slinger in the event [I dont want to input my card number cause im lazy]

It felt like a Vasectomy with Pinhead as the Surgeon.

I kept losing chase cause they vanished or healed or something else

I can tell when im just bad [there where a few moments cause im rusty] but this just felt mean

I may keep playing or just chill in normal Queue.

ok fine. Survivors could block windows to the killer, spawn "party" pallets (in and out of chase), and have a "quiet" mode power that greatly reduced Footsteps/breathing/grunts of pain/locker noise. This was last year's anniversary event powers survivors got.

like with anything you people complain about and say its "unfun". you cant just say it was unfun for you and demand change. a player's fun does matter but you'll say anything that annoys you is unfun.

Killers havent gotten anything close to what survivor have this year

  • Speak for yourself I'm having a blast 4e'ing tunneling Jasons with full slowdowns.

    Even better if they DC.

  • Worst event ever don't bring it back
