Mathieu Cote stated in a recent interview with Sawpalin that Disney was interested in the idea of Vader yes. He literally said Darth Vader in the video so I'm assuming it isn't happening anytime soon or at all. He wouldn't be able to mention it if it was even possible, so it could be him deconfirming the idea simply by bringing it up.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C9ZkY7yAeQ

You'll have to use the Youtube subtitle auto translate.

Considering he said in an interview with The King that he wouldn't say a license that he knew there was a chance of them getting, I think this means whatever chances Star Wars had is dead in the water.

On the topic of this discussion and not related to your post: I feel like, although Darth Vader is fitting of the term killer and is who he is, I feel like that strays way too far outside dbd's boundaries. Dbd has always called themselves the hall of fame of horror and hasn't pushed too far out of that besides adding Nic Cage, and even then he's in a lot of horror and horror adjacent movies. I don't feel like it's enough for someone to just be a killer in some form of media, I think it still needs to fit horror some how, which Star Wars does not. It's too fantastical and sci fi. However that is my personal opinion and if Vader did still ends up in the fog… I'm a sucker for achievements and buying chapters so I'd get him which is definitely where the business part comes in unfortunately.

  • It has it's perks, but it has just lost it's spark because bhvr brings it back so often. They've completely lost it. I honestly feel like this game would be better if they let us breathe. It's ok to have some dead space instead of just brining chaos shuffle back after a week of nothing.

  • Yeah if they lose a license then the content can't be available anymore. For free stuff, like the map, it has to be taken out of rotation. For paid stuff, like characters, you can keep them after it goes unavailable, but the content is removed from the shops so no one can buy it going forward. That's how it works. Theoretically speaking, if bhvr never loses the license, then yeah a license could be considered "permanent." However, every licensed map runs the risk of being removed just like all licensed survivors, killers, and cosmetics.

So far, I don't think so. Survivors have anti-slug and blood orbs are not that frequent when medics can heal survivors so fast. I haven't played Oni with Legion yet though.

People forget this so much. I lot of Oni's strength comes from his ability to slug, but it's not that uncommon from my experience that you down someone, go after someone else, get them down, but medics were on top of it and the person you downed first is already up within the 5-10 seconds it takes to down the second person. Outside of certain combos and comms, he's actually really bad in 2v8 in my experiences. I think that's why Legion/Oni feel so powerful together, it's the only way to play that has medics scrambling, they can't heal fast enough against that combo.

  • @ChaosWam said:

Haven't killer queues in 2v8 always been horrible?

I'm still pretty sure it's because having a friend to run killer with is more appealing, not because something is 'broken'. Not that it doesn't contribute, but I don't think it's the root cause.

Yeah, they're acting like Legion and Oni are the reason queue times are so bad like there weren't 2 2v8 iterations prior to even 1 of them being added where queue times were just as bad, maybe even worse. Although I feel like this argument has happened every time just change the killers.

2v8 Version 1: "Queue times are so bad? Stop playing Huntress and Wraith no one wants to face them!"

2v8 Version 2: "Queue times are so bad? Stop playing Blight and Spirit no one wants to face them!"

2v8 Version 3: "Queue times are so bad? Stop playing Legion and Wesker no one wants to face them!"

2v8 Version 4: "Queue times are so bad? Stop playing Legion and Oni no one wants to face them!"

At what point will survivors realize that maybe it's not the killer selection that's the problem, but their attitude? I've said it before and I'll say it again, dbd although it does have a balance problem, more so has a survivor pickiness problem. Survivors actually believe that they get to pick and choose who they play against and if there's a higher chance, like in 2v8, that they'll get a killer or killer combo they don't want, they'll leave or just not queue up. I know this is hard for survivors to hear but… YOU DON'T GET TO CHOOSE WHO YOU FACE. GROW UP. There's more pressing issues with the game then "Wah it's an Oni."

Also besides the first iteration where there were literally 5 options to play, these combos are not as common as they make them out to be. I can guarantee most of the people complaining about it (considering how fast the complaining started) just went "What's the worst combo I can think of for this version of 2v8" and then just started complaining. I have yet to face a Legion and Oni combo as survivor and as killer, despite exclusively playing Oni, have never seen a Legion.

Btw adding this in because someone is going to see this comment and start screaming "OnI aNd LeGiOn Is EvErY oThEr GaMe FoR mE aNd It'S bAd. HoW dArE yOu SaY iT's NoT eVeRy blah blah blah" That is my personal experience, if you are actually facing them that often and I'm some how just getting lucky, I'm sorry. Although I will forever stand by my "survivor's are picky about who they face" comment.

  • I just find it funny that there's 2 killers, 8 survivors, and both killers still want to tunnel the same survivor like there aren't 4-6 survivors on gens like… you're gonna lose.

  • Let's get it out of the way and put it this way. Is the go next prevention system going to be necessary? 100%. Will the devs mess it up big time? Yes they will. What they proved with the abandon system is they'll have an idea of what they want to count and do the cop out way of doing it. Oh we want survivors to be able to abandon if they get slugged? Let's have survivors being carried and hooked count as being slugged and make it so that it still activates if they're the only one left at which point they're just being mori'd anyways. We want killers to be able to abandon if a generator isn't worked on for 10 minutes? Oh let's just make it so the timer is only effected by if the generator is completed.

How will that work on the go next system? Let's give an example based on what little we know on it. "Oh we want it to work on survivors who run to the killer to get out of a match? Let's just make it so it's based on if they're the next chased and downed." In other words, "Let's have survivors being hard tunneled punished with this system." I'm hoping since they're planning on making the punishment a dc penalty and losing an entire grade that the system is a little more strict than how they did the abandon system, but then again if they cared about these systems working accurately, they would have started with the abandon system.

    New system really sucks.

I have zero incentive to play more than one match a day, because that's all it takes to do the daily challenges. Since passive Rift progress has been gimped, there's no point playing when there's no challenges available.

'Complete three generator skill checks'? Wow BHVR, pulling out all the stops here. For 2,500 Bloodpoints too? I can get a whole brown Medkit for that!

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7FKT27QM1FFZ/image.png

Weirdly enough, they actually didn't get rid of the passive gain, it's now 5 shards per, not sure if it's still experience based or just every round. I actually know this for fact because I was at 95/100 rift fragments for Tier 36, accomplished no goals this last round, and now am at Tier 37. Honestly I thought at first they got rid of it to.

  • @Pulsar said:

Hate to break it to you, but it won't change anything lol.

It isn't gonna make people wanna play more.

Knowing the devs, not only is it not going to do anything, but it will probably not even work and people who weren't even throwing are going to be punished.

    Tier 7.95

I got a free tier 1 for a reason I can't remember, then I've played exactly 4 matches over 4 days to knockout the dailies so far.

Hoping that none of the weekly rift pass quests expire once the next week rolls over and I can just do them all retroactively if I forget to play or get busy with something else for a while.

Based off the PTB, the only thing "Weekly" about them is that they unlock weekly. You should still be able to do every challenge. The only challenges that expire after a certain amount of time is the dailies. You can't stack those. Maybe the challenge that says "Get X amount of rift challenges this week" expires after a week based off the wording, but I think it just means the challenges have to come from that specific week's challenge pool.

  • I'm already at 16 escapes and am on Step 6 of the milestone, although I'm not gonna lie, most of those were pure stupid luck that I managed to escape. Actually a lot of those were hatch games. I feel like the milestones are going to get shot through once 2v8 drops. I get they have it because it's an opposite to the killer challenge of "kill survivors." All the challenges have opposites of each other.

    Killer: Break gens/Survivor: Repair gens

    Killer: Hook Survivors/Survivor: Heal Survivors

    Killer: Kill Survivors/Survivor: Escape Trials

I also understand that the milestones are supposed to kind of just happen, but with their goal average kill rate being you die more than half your matches on average… an escaping challenge seems a lot.

  • I enjoyed Casting of Frank Stone so much and I absolutely love it because if I'm ever bored of dbd but still want to play, I can just load up that game and it feels like dbd story mode. The Champion had so much potential with Linda and Sam as survivors! Already had a backstory, already had chase music, essentially already had a power and provided counterplay, but what do they do? "Trapper skin goes burrrrrrrr." That was such a let down. At the end when you see him in the realm watching the survivors I always wondered what his power would have been, now that we know he's just another version of Trapper for the entity I'm like "….oh. That's boring." It kind of ruins the really cool ending after watching everything he was capable of doing in the game. Like they didn't just gut him, they changed him from a Spirit/Onryo, easy A tier killer combo, to Trapper, the into hell it's so low tier killer. Like that's the biggest tragedy of the game now.

  • This anniversary stream definitely had some really high highs and really low lows. I feel like I remember them saying a while back that they were going to go into detail about Part 2 of the QoL waves during the stream and then they just… didn't? Same with FNAF, they said they were going into detail about it and, although we got details, they know what we're expecting when they say stuff like that and they didn't do it. Like the cosmetic and the look of the map is great and all, but just telling us what we already figured which is that Springtrap is the killer and that's essentially the majority of the detail is pretty underwhelming. I know they said there's going to be another stream either later this month or early next month, but at that point why have the anniversary stream where you reveal nothing and are on a time crunch at PAX when you can do as much as you want as an anniversary stream slightly later? If the plan was always 2 streams.

As someone who played DbD mobile for a bit, the UI is incredibly similar to the challenges Mobile version had. So no wonder it looks like a cheaper mobile game now…

The removal of unique challenges was something that bothered me and what I brought up as well during PTB feedback. Overall the idea seems to be making the game simpler for new players and also removing specific challenges that might make you sandbag your team, though in my opinion this is at the cost of making the game more boring and generic. The Archives had really unique visuals and sound design as well, compared to this.

Exactly! I feel like the devs forget, although there has been backlash over how the tomes were handled in the past, outside of a few really stupid challenges and not being able to select as many as you want, no one was really complaining about it. The fun challenges in the tome made the game more fun, with how long the game has been around, I'm a little shocked that with the tomes they want to revert back to "do gen and die" simulator. That's an extremely boring loop that the archives have been helping with with the more interesting challenges. No I don't want to do 20 "do gens" challenges instead of maybe 3 or 4 throughout an entire tome. People wanted to be able to do multiple so they go do the "do gens" challenge at the same time as a fun challenge like the memory shards or glyphs. Get the boring ones done while having a blast. No one wanted them to make the change so they could just add more "do gens" challenges and scrap the glyphs or shards for even more room for even more "do gens" challenges. As an example.

While I love the new challenge system and how it works, that's gonna suck hard. I liked being able to passively gain levels from playing normally. Now if I don't have challenges left.. idk if I feel inclined to play, if it doesn't help me progress the rift

Yeah, I feel like they could have kept that system in place, I feel like they just replaced it with milestones which do give a lot of fragments overall? If I calculated it correctly completing every milestone should grant 38.5 levels in the tome? Although I still prefer the XP rift fragment gain because every match you saw your progress in that go up and usually you gained at least 1 fragment from that, now after a couple of matches you see what feels like zero progress from those milestones.

  • Nope the XP thing appears to be gone, which means challenges are now more important to get done. On the plus side, every challenge grants rift fragments now.

  • I'm sorry but if you're sitting on a 30 minute penalty, you're the reason the penalty is there. I'm not saying this example doesn't seem reasonable, but like 3 dcs is 10-15 minutes, if you're at 30 minutes you have to be dc'ing like every round. Maybe the question shouldn't be "Why do we have a disconnect penalty" and more so "Why do you feel like you need to dc every round?" like is it a mechanic/balance thing, is it a bug thing, are you just burnt out? There's no reason you should have that high a penalty.

  • @SoGo said:

Also, as someone who wasn't on the PTB and only now found out about the visual changes of the rift and quests:

Why does it look like a cheap mobile game now?

Why, BHVR? Why does every UI or visual update look so horrendous?

From what I heard it was "to put the systems more in line with other games." I think that's stupid though, why can't dbd have a little bit of personality to it? Why does it have to look like everything else?

His tentacle whip counts as a long-range ability (I think), plus he's got the two zombies.

Is there any killer with a long range ability who has a dash attack? I think it's usually/always one or the other.

I mean… you could argue Kaneki is a dash killer with a long range ability? Sort of? I know it's not an actual dash but it's a fast moving ability that he can use to target survivors from far away.

  • @NewPlayer100102 said:

I always bring the BPS and try to farm with the survivors when I'm playing as the killer, I do tunnel them, but I don't kill them, anyways that is for BP.

However, in general survivors aren't into this, but in the above case, as I'm watching it, literally, I can say:

The killer gets into another chase, breaks the chase to slam his face into the wall for reasons.

The next event is an unhook, with YOU at the site. Are you really demanding that the killer just ignore the obvious and leave both survivors, since either would be a "tunnel"?

Your next protection hit, I can't tell if your not looking at the screen or if you're intentionally body blocking for your unhooker. Either way what do you demand the killer do? Go to the corner for 10?

Let me be clear. I'm not that Wesker. But the apparently intentional body blocking by you and the one survivor that tried to cover for you would justify an immediate exit of either of you from the match if I had been the Wesker.

If I feel it's safe enough to go for an unhook, I'm not being tunneled. I'm talking about true tunneling like what this Wesker did, which obviously you wouldn't know because I posted a screenshot not a video of the round so how would you know what the killer did. He literally downed, hooked, left hook, survivor got unhooked, returned to hook, went after unhooked survivor again even if another was trying to take his attention, repeat cycle until dead. Didn't give me, nor the Yun-Jin who was also tunneled, a chance to breathe once he found me the first time about 30 seconds into the round and I didn't get to do anything. However after we both were dead at like 4 gens, he farmed with the other two. Which is what bothers me as a player. In your example, I'd say no I wouldn't expect you to not act I think in the example you brought up if I'm reading it correctly that's perfectly fine. That's not what this Wesker did or what I'm trying to talk about. Also not demanding anything, I'm saying how this event was made a lot of killers feel like if they don't get someone out in the first 2 seconds then they already lost and losing isn't a good feeling. It's also a feeling that's consistent for killers in this event.

Tunneling will persist no matter what they do, I don't even expect the anti-tunnel mechanic they're introducing in Wave 2 of the QoL initiative to remove the playstyle, but this event it feels worse than normal and I don't blame survivors, especially those in solo queue saying "I'm not going to bring bps to die in 2 seconds and then the killer mess around with another survivor taking advantage of my offering but I don't." Bringing group bp offerings as killer is one thing because you get to control how the match goes and you'll be able to take advantage of all group bp offerings because you are guaranteed to be able to take advantage of it the entire time. It's not a guarantee for survivors and actually how killers are acting it feels more like a guarantee on the survivor side that you won't be able to take advantage of it.

Wait, does the "Scream" IP belong to the Wes Craven estate too? Because that was another Wes Craven creation. The franchise is still getting new movies, but DbD never got the license to the movie and got the costume line license instead to make its own Ghostface. That could be a hint that they don't easily accept license deals.

Actually Ghost Face had to be licensed into Scream, Ghost Face is the costume itself which is owned by FunWorld and that's how dbd got him in the game and got him all his music and what not.

  • At first they said they were only going to do it if a killer with the original music got a major update, such was the case for killers like Spirit, Doctor, Legion, Hillbilly, etc.. They then seemed to backtrack on this when they randomly gave Hag new music despite never getting any updates practically ever and then giving Huntress new menu music. So who really knows what they're doing. I'd like to see new music for, at the very least, the original killers still missing menu and/or new chase/terror radius music. Trapper, Wraith, Huntress (for tr/chase), and Plague. Maybe then the license holders will be a little more inclined if they're the only ones differing. We already know they're on good terms with SAW so you know they'd jump right in. That would just leave giving Myers a full new menu music not just the jingle when selected, and then hopefully TCM and NoES will follow? Although they seem to be a lot more stubborn, TCM that's a new issue because of the game I presume. Trapper I'd honestly be fine with keeping original stuff if they did the og menu music and then one of the couple variations of base terror radius/chase music. Especially since in this case scenario, that would make it "special" to him.

Dark Sense sounds easy if you play full SWF, but definetly hell as soloQ.

Chilling escape definetly is painful, but there are ways to cheese it. I think I had 3 friends go on commit suicide to the killer at start of the trial and I looked for hatch after it.

I've never been able to get 3 of my friends to play at the same time, at most it was a duo which isn't that much helpful. So although it's true that you can cheese it in a 4 person swf, first you need to coordinate to get 3 others to play with you.

  • @LockerLurk said:

I have not played KIller this event at all because I don't see the point. The Killers I like, Dredge aside, don't work in it or lose their powers in it, or can't pressure enough without some gen control of some kind. I know I know, skill-less bad Killer using gen control at all, but when you're casually playing some Wraith and even his speed feels like it's not enough… Or you load in to play Pig and discover half her power doesn't work… I'm not AMAZING god tier at Killer, personally I would like to have something to help gen speed. I'm not out here stacking gen perks, I just want a chance at the game. Ideally as Killers I enjoy. I don't enjoy Nurse, Blight, Ghoul, and Wesker. :(

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3911085#Comment_3911085

I mean Pig also costs money but you're right. It's stupid that Killers can't play Mains they enjoy simply because of how the event IS, Survivors really didn't have that same feeling in events that were Killer sided like Lights Out. Like, I lost nothing specific as Survivor except my ability to use perks and items, but Killers also lost their addons, so it seemed fair enough if unbalanced. Here though, Killers lose whole characters, several perks some of which don't even have to do with generator control, and sometimes even addons which don't work - Ghostface's Driver's License is a good example.

I also find it crazy when people will be like "every event some killer is the worst, this just isn't Pig's event" and it's like "sweety you missed the point entirely." Also this the hardest they've ever nerfed a killer in any event. Most killers their power works slightly less but it still works as intended, they just straight up said this one "Pig doesn't get a power because we said so."

  • I don't think this was a really well thought out part of the event. Like just make powers work with the blood gens, the fact that 6 killers can be completely countered by focusing down the blood gens is not okay, especially when it actually completely destroys 1 of those killer's powers. If it doesn't break the game when the gens that take 90 seconds to complete have these interactions, something tells me it won't break the game if the gens that take maybe 20 seconds when working on them to have these interactions.

  • Yeah, I don't know how this happened but I couldn't help but laugh afterwards, but I had a match once in the last like 6 months or so where not only did I get no hooks as killer, I got zero emblems. To this day I'm not entirely sure how I scored that badly, but it was so funny at the time.

  • Dark Sense: Finish repairing 4 generators while using the perk Dark Sense (Tome 1)

Chilling Escape: Escape a trial without being hooked by the Killer while using the perk Spine Chill (Tome 1)

Nightmares… I would rather do the mettle of man challenge again and I'm not keen on wanting to do that one either.

They're increasing the BP cap to 5 million so there will be less reason to want to save BP. I get what you're saying but I personally massively prefer these things to be equipped and redeemed automatically.

The 5 mil seems to be a test only during the blood moon. Which means once blood moon is over, before the patch drops, it will decrease down to 2 mil. I would love to be wrong though. They did use the word "test" though. I'm saving up prior to the blood moon ending though because something tells me like the last time they messed with rituals, we won't be able to keep those points for the update.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

To be fair, 5 Million BPs should be enough to bring a new character or two new characters to a decently high Prestige. If you spend 2,5 Million on a new Killer and new Survivor, you will have lots of Offerings, Items and Add Ons to be used. I dont think that saving Tome Challenges would be as important anymore.

Even tho I have read that some people have saved over 20 Million BPs in those old challenges, but this just shows that you dont even need those saved points apparently if people are still saving them. Let alone that I dont know why people are doing it, when I reach two million BPs I am already dying internally because I dont want to spend them since it takes so long, I cannot really think of someone really wanting to sit in the Bloodweb to spend 20+ Million BPs.

Although I see your point, anyone who has saved up that much in tome challenges aren't planning on spending them any time soon and probably just aren't spending bp in general. I'm talking about more so for the people like me who are like "Hey I should probably save points from the most recent tome for the next chapter" and then spends all those points on the next chapter like planned. Same said for rituals.

I hope that they learnt from their mistakes.

It seems like they remember the debacle well, considering every boon released after COH aside Exponential is really weak.

I'd hope so, but the only boons to release after Mikaela were 2 full chapters, one of which was licensed, and another licensed half-chapter, so they didn't need the perks to carry as hard. Here's to hoping they learned. The fact that they were licensed only matters because like I said, licenses alone can speak for themselves because people know the ips.

  • Seeing the name Steady Pulse is giving nurse/doctor vibes and now I'm just having Mikaela release flashbacks and og Circle of Healing. You know they'll pull that op perk bs again for sales since a stand alone og survivor isn't going to have the same weight as a stand alone licensed survivor.

Pig, Plague and Sadako can have their powers significantly hampered by chest offerings and the Drvs think it’s fine and fair.

    Quite a joke really.

When it comes to her overall balance I think she's fine, but it's when they do ######### like this for events that just make her feel so bad at times. Not an oversight, intentional.

    @Topic:

IMO it should be clear that regression (and -progression) Perks should not work on the Blood Gens, this is totally fine. But other Perks and Killer Powers should work on those, so stuff like Fire Up, Pig Traps, Houndmasters Tracking, etc. should all work, but stuff like PGTW, Pain Res, Deja Vu etc. not.

I would also not say that they are done that quickly, kicking them removes a lot of Progress and it can be quite slow to fill them. It is RNG, some are done rather quickly, but others really take some time to fill.

Ok maybe me saying all of them should is a little far. Although I will say towards how much they take off, it takes off the same percent as a regular gen and you don't need a blood can to stop the regression. So you lose 5%, can stop it immediately, and then get a can. That's also assuming you don't already have a can ready. Also, I don't think the oversight is the physical action of making powers and perks not work on them, I think the oversight is how much that would actually sway the match.

I wish I could tell you

  • "Scoring events" is what it's called when you get bloodpoints. You know those little names that pop up with the totals? Those are scoring events. Always have been. It's saying you get more bloodpoints every time you get them.

  • I mean… they main feature of the blood moon is the community earned higher bonus bloodpoints so… yeah it is kind of made for blood point farming, but because of several factors, that's not what happens so the event just turns into trash.

  • But doesn't it say right there in big bold purple letters "Global Bloodpoints Bonus"? Where does it specifically state it's only for event bloodpoints?

  • It's a mixed bag for me on both sides. Kind of just depends on the killer I'm playing or facing.

  • Like @imabakedpot8o mentioned you can just use a calculator or the internet to find this information instead of a tool that uses so much energy it's destructive. Also the things Grok doesn't take note of, not every single moment of the day is going to have the same amount of people playing. Not even that, but people get bored of events. Sure, at first we'll be at a steady pace to get it in 7-8 days, but it wouldn't shock me if it takes more than half the event to get there. Although who knows, this community shocks me all the time.

  • I was talking to a friend a while back about dbd events and we agree dbd event offerings need to be more personalized to the event instead of just copy and paste of each other, which every event offering besides anniversary ones are copy and paste of each other with one small change to match the event. I think blood moon event offerings should effect the trial in a way that's specific to the blood moon, say make blood gens when complete spark blood zones (someone else said that actually, I can't find who though, I don't think it was this thread) and also give like a 200% bp bonus to all categories after the round, from there it doesn't matter if it stacks or not, everyone would be running that. Then also make it only available to use during the event. Imagine the bp gains with that alone! If they did that, I wouldn't give a flying f*ck about fighting for any amount of extra bp. Like at that point you're telling my if it doesn't stack I get a minimum of a 700% bp bonus once we hit the max base bp bonus and it can be up to 850% if my side has the max bp incentive? Say no more! I'll take it! Prestiges be flying!

I'm sorry, I have a lot of criticisms of this event but 500% BP boost last year was not failing to deliver lmao. It wasn't on day one, so I'd see that criticism of the mobile game style 'don't miss out! keep logging in!' thing, but 500% is not NOT delivering lol

We only got the 500% bonus last year because with like 3 days left the devs changed the goal posts, we weren't even getting close if not for that. Honestly if they're going to have an event they advertise as "the time of year to get all the bloodpoints you could need" or however they phrase it, they need to be delivering. As long as they keep making us fight for it and making it impossible to reach the goal prior to the final few days and have a horrible event offering, this will never "be the time of year for bloodpoints." I don't call starting below a blood feast and taking several days just to get to blood feast level as "best time of year for bloodpoints." The devs need to stop being stingy about bp.

  • Extremely sweaty and boring as survivor. Seriously, despite survivor having the bonus I'm easily getting triple the amount of points just waiting for killer rounds.

He's only 10% of total games?
    That contradicts the narrative here.

He's new and at 10%, that sounds bad. Needs buffs, or a marketing campaign, or something.

10% is extremely misleading. If you go to the site nightlight, you'll see the stats this person is using are over the course of March 9, 2025 to today. Kaneki is 10% of matches over that period of time and he's only been around for 5 days as of today and if every killer was played the same amount, each killer would be played roughly 2.5% of the time. So Kaneki's stats over the last month say he's being played 4 times higher than the average killer when he's only been around for 5 days of that period… yeah that's actually insane.

Also, if you look at the breakdown of how many matches end in 0-4ks, 58.96% end in either a 3 or 4k. 60% of Kaneki matches end in almost if not everyone dying. The second most played killer in the last month, Wesker, only 44.99% let's round up to 45% of the time, a majority of survivors die. That's a 15% difference between the most and second most played killers best matches.

If you need a lazy written excuse for the character to make sense in the game, then that character didn't fit in the game to begin with. You just forced it.

Also, just what people want: To have their favorite character in the game with his personality changed by "brainwashing" so they aren't the same character anymore.

I will say, Wraith has no reason to kill any survivors, Spirit has no reason to kill any survivors, Artist has no reason to kill any survivors, but they do anyways. Hell, in their lore 2 of those killers never killed anyone prior to the realm. It wouldn't be anything new for the devs to pull something like that since they seem to love doing that with their original killers and then just be like "yeah now they're either brainwashed or just super bad now that they're in the realm trying to kill everyone."
