There's a reason to why forced LGBTQ+ movies fail so hard. Its forced. Forcing something that should be a natural thing makes it awful.
-
I don't think they're under-estimating it.
What they are doing is seeing that its a popular SWF perk and changing it would cause an outrage from Survivors. And with the survivors being the majority, it'd hurt their revenue stream because angry customers don't buy anything.

Considering what this dev team is I would have to disagree with the changes they have made as of recent.
Hahahah! Yeah.

I would be surprised if they didn't see the backlash. The forums were on fire, Twitter was spaming images of the serum, their Discord chat was angry, Reddit memed the hell out of them, brutal stuff. Here's hoping they actually do something good with the feedback lol.
Their track record of listening to feedback is pretty spotty. I ain't holding my breath.

I actually thought he was worse than what he ended up being, which is a pleasant surprise.

What Hector said. The game has been improving. The recent problem of Undying + Ruin is very real and it's an epidemic that needs addressing. The current killer meta is Undying + Ruin + Tinkerer + BBQ on almost every killer. It's lame as can be for so many perks to exist but those are chosen 50%+ of the time. Similar issues exist for the survivor-sided Decisive Strike + Unbreakable + Dead Hard + Spine Chill/Other, but in my opinion it isn't as bad.
But other than that, the game has gotten so much better, especially for killers. Pawcelot couldn't be more wrong that people weren't asking for map reworks (unless they meant the updated textures) because god loops were considered by many experienced players to be the worst thing in the game, and now they are basically gone, which is a critical game improvement (this coming from a survivor main). I also happen to think that (WELL-PLACED) breakable walls for strong loops is a really cool gameplay aspect that they are getting better at.
I meant the updated textures and mat designs.

They just mentioned that they are looking into the event to change it.
We did it everyone.
I ain't cheering until what I see those changes are. For all we know, they might just remove the Iridescent Shards price for the skins and make them Auric Cell only. And double the cost. Its a change as well.
-
BHVR has shown that they're not a company that deserves any "credit". Defending BHVR is not a hill I'd be willing to die on.
-
The only thing they care about is money and they've shown how far they're willing to go to get achieve their goal, ruining player good will in the progress. BHVR is going to keep making everything worse as long as players are buying whatever macrotransactions they're putting out.
-
@GhostyyBoi said:
Usually I don't place my faith in BHVR, but I must trust them to at least fix this.
You're placing your trust in people who keep disappointing people and letting them down.
Its a poor investment.

Right.

Killer isn't that fun to a lot of people so they don't play any Killer. That means they'll derank to 20-16 in a few months, depending on how high in the ranks they were.
-
I think its because its like BHVR's trying to divert some of the anger they're currently experiencing from this colossal failure of an "event."
-
Because Killers had too much time to do what they wanted and still pop a gen.
Meanwhile, Survivors get 60 seconds of immunity while they can do whatever they want unhindered via Decisive Strike.

An update in DbD wouldn't be an update if it wouldn't break the sound everytime
Its BHVR's Seal of Quality.

It's been in the game since tome 1 (I think, I know it was ere since tome 3 at least)
Not that you get 2 RF for free every day by playing each role once.
-
Its the posture they'd use when you're in First Person. Like, you're seeing the model you use in First Person in Third person.
-
While I like it, I won't see it coming into Dead by Daylight.. ever. Its a change that'd benefit players.
-
I actually had a shitload of fun during the first Halloween event. You had a chill time as Killer because survivors prioritized farming flowers instead of doing generators.
-
Next year there won't be any Iridescent Shards option. It'll all be Auric Cells. And they'll remove Halloween decorations as well because its so outdated to have themes around an "event".
-
I was only excited for Halloween for the concept that we'd be able to earn Halloween skins and with that gone.. there's nothing to enjoy. BHVR ruined their biggest seasonal event.
-
I'll never recommend Dead by Daylight to anyone.
-
There's still a surprising amount of players who're blind to what's happening. Perhaps they're just naive or they're straight up knights in shining armor.. who knows? Things must change because BHVR clearly won't.

@Alphonse said:
I invested 300e in this game, after all this phase with the halloween event and how mediocre the rift is, I don't buy anything anymore, I barely play 1 game a week
That's the smartest choice. BHVR only care about money. They've made that clear as day.
-
I was only looking forward unlocking Halloween skins with Serums but BHVR took that away from me.
-
@Cum_King said:
the killer add on is garbage, thank god they're dumping it after the event
Shame that the survivor one is extremely strong and they'll get to enjoy it forever.

@HellDescent said:
As their post states at the top of the page " Thank you to everyone for bringing this to our attention", they were not even aware what update did to console..... How do you release something like this without testing it first????
BHVR only saw consoles as another channel of revenue. They could reach another playerbase that would buy their macrotransactions, DLCs, Rift and skins. They never cared about consoles otherwise.
-
BHVR have shown their hand and these changes aren't lucrative enough to implement anymore. Its all about raking in money now. At any cost.
-
Definitely heading downhill.
The community is telling BHVR over and over again that they want bugs fixed, perks rebalanced, killer changes, reduced grind, better optimization (especially for consoles) and matchmaking improvements. Out comes BHVR with map reworks, which no one asked for, and start doing non-nonsensical changes to various perks and to killers (Hillbilly add-ons anyone?). Not to mention the increased grind by adding even more stuff to the bloodweb (like the hatch offerings) and adding more and more stuff. The macrotransactions are only getting worse as well.
They're not listening to the community. At all. We don't matter. Only your wallet does and that they've made clear.

im surprised it took someone 2 minutes to post a response like this.
They're not wrong, though.
-
Oof.
-
You know it. BHVR's willing to throw everything aside to earn more money, including any goodwill they still had with their playerbase. Corporate greed ruins everything.
-
BHVR ruined their biggest event with corporate greed.
-
He ain't wrong.
-
Disappointed in BHVR for showing us the path they're heading down on. Player goodwill, the community, the players themselves.. none of it matters. Only money matters. At any cost.

Being I am only 15 I don't have much knowledge on companies myself, since I can't get a job due to personal reasoning. But @Enlyne did explain to me they pulled this type of crap in the past, which I didn't know about since my Xbox cord had fried last year from the Halloween event up to Christmas. Plus I got my game in July of last year.
You're probably too young and naive to see the entire picture, then.
-
Except the hooks.

@Mekochi said:
Because of the pandemic, a lot of people are out of jobs, even if the pandemic has gotten slightly better. They still need to make money because when the pandemic first started it did kind of screw over a bunch of companies.
This is just a theory obviously it might come back next year though I don't know. All I can say is just try and sit tight and support the game and its development. I myself have put over $100 into the games here, because I bought all the DLCs and a bunch of different cosmetics, except people still need their paychecks. A couple hundred dollars is not going to help the game a lot, but it might help a little bit.
You do realize that BHVR is a modern gaming company, right? They work with IT. Computers. They can work just as fine remote working and attending meetings in Zoom. We've done the same at my job. Heck, I've not been at work since MARCH.
BHVR is showing their true colors. That they value money over everything else. Even player good will. They're willing to drive it all into the ground to earn some extra money.

I'm giving feedback. I want those cosmetics but I'm not happy about the charms. The common ones are trash and I'll never use them except the ultra rare ones.
You don't cure an addict by giving them drugs and tell them that drugs are bad.
-
Considering that they've not bothered improving consoles before this update, it might just remain like this for a few months. Or next year. Who knows? There's money to be made! Spend your Auric Cells now!
-
You're telling BHVR they should continue doing what they're doing by buying the Rift.
-
They're never going to stop with the Rift since they can potentially squeeze out $70 out of every player, depending on their level of FOMO.
-
@gibblywibblywoo said:
I'm not expecting a unique cosmetic every level but jesus this Rift has gone above and beyond in disappointment in regards to rewards. If its between buying this Rift and burning myself out before the next chapter with the dull grind or enjoying the new chapter and being preyed upon by the ever present FOMO, I'll take missing out.
Less effort spent on making new skins means more money to be made, as they can pump 'em out faster.

3 refined serums and 6 broken bulbs
You see, since all of those are Event-tier items you can find.. they all share the pool of potential items you can find. Every time you find an event add-on, the event offering lost the RNG to show up.

Leaks perhaps? Maybe people are just getting sick and tired by BHVR's shenanigans.
-
Its never going to die but I don't mind seeing it taking damage.

@HommeBizarre said:
If you aren't satisfied, nobody forces you to buy the pass
We'd not be constantly reminded by the Rift (via archive challenges and constant "tiered up" notifications in lobby) if BHVR wanted it to be "optional".

@twistedmonkey said:
This is why I dislike breakable walls in general.
They are implemented all wrong. A breakable wall should be a choice but not needed. It should add to the game while still giving both sides a chance if its left alone or broken.
Take this window the killer needs to break it or its a 100% safe window with a long loop. Now when the killer does break it it makes the storehouse less safe overall due to the removal of the pallets.
I just feel its not fun for either side this way.
Agreed. There's few situations where a breakable wall works in the Killer's favor.
-
Nay.
-
But that'd be fun and fun isn't allowed.
