I played a lot of Overwatch before DBD.

Now no amount of toxicity, no amount of struggle in OW compares. I am straight up chilling in that game. I used to SWEAT in that game. Now I'm like nice to have a game where you can't be camped every match, where you can play off-meta stuff outside of competitive and still win. Where most of the time nobody says anything unless you're in comp and while yeah, sometimes things get toxic, for the most part comms are silent.

It's making me realize that probably DBD just isn't fun and most of the people who play it at a length are really just addicted--as I was at a time with other games like CSGO.

Interesting insight, might wanna try OW someday. Also, rancor pfp gang rise up.

So you are horror fanatic who is stressed out by this? Play some Amnesia and come back, you will feel better here after that. ;)

Oh no, I love amnesia, all of that! But this game is a different kind of stress. That stuff is just pure, fun, horror. SOMA, The Forest, Amnesia, etc. I love 'em but this just feels so buggy and frustrating.

  • @Ihatelife said:

    I will give you advice.

Don't care what other says or think about you.

Just play the game. No one will kill you in real life, just because you made a few mistakes. Even the best survivors/killers do them sometimes.

Man, you're very right but lemme just say when I am playing killer and I get looped to hell and back, then it's put on a popular YT channel and people hold it to me I am gonna stress a little when I am getting outplayed. But ty <3

  • @thrawn3054 said:

This game is only as stressful as you make it. As a side note I'd strongly suggest you talk to your doctor if you're getting chest pains from playing this game. It sounds like you have really high blood pressure.

Maybe so but it only seems to be on killer. Survivor I'm kinda willy nilly but that's helpful, thank you.

  • @TheMythicalCat said:

Killer DBD is way more stressful then most online games. Your margin for error is WAY smaller then most games, where wasting 20 seconds can lose you the match. The only thing that's come close to DBD for me is Fighting Games, and that's because they're similar in the fact that a single mistake can cost you the match. Shooters are never this stressful unless you play at the top level.

Ah makes sense, diehard killer main.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks! What I find most frustrating is how there's no reticule for the killers that are all about distance. And trying to pinpoint depth perception without one is really hard to do! Mad props to those that main huntress, deathslinger, clown, etc.

Ugh it's something you get used to, sadly. I wish they would add some kinda visual for each killer. Maybe plague get's a little circle of vomit in the her aim, but it's definitely frustrating. Huntress you just kinda gauge based off the hatchet and a little to the right, deathslinger has a little sight to aim down, and clown is basically inverse of huntress. But plague is definitely weird. Luckily she just has a stream of vomit so she can correct herself and not miss entirely. Good luck tho!

  • She is so fun when you learn good tactics with her. My personal favorite is to vomit on somebody, maybe even two people, but don't follow them beyond that. They're basically a ticking time bomb and either:

    a) give you a free injure, and eventually infect others, repeating the process

    b) give you a free fountain

You hardly have to chase beyond that first infection.

  • As for horror, Hereditary. That scene f*#$ed me up GOOD for a week. If you've seen hereditary, you know what scene I'm talking about. Actually probably not there's like 3.

@PassarinoT I'd be alright with breathing be directional but grunts of pain should be changed somehow. I'd be fine with that as long as its only during phasinf and as long as breathing can still be directional to give her a chance.

Yeah, that would be interesting. I think that non-directional hearing is far more powerful than people think, but it's still worth a shot. Being able to hear volume levels alone can be a fun game of hot and cold with tracking.

  • @emptyCups said:

Why should a stealth perk reveal your location ?

    Remove that.

Its all I want, just remove the reveal so I can stealth

Exactly, I see how the devs can excuse it for "mindgames" but either a shorter cooldown or, probably better, no gen revealing. It's so annoying when you're supposed to be undetectable but instead all the survivors go on alert mode.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

Its her ability to hear my groans of pain and due to the sound being directional, she can easily find you while phasing and tell if you moved forward, backwards or sideways but you can't do the same. Crank up the volume in your headset and use Stridor and once you're hurt, it's over.

Remove or greatly reduce her ability to hear grunts of pain and she'd be fine to play against.

Note: Edited due to having a spelling mistake.

This is EXACTLY what I'm saying, only I don't think they should be lessened volume-wise, but rather she should not hear directionally during phase.

Yeah, sure no problem. If I remember correctly, crack-head billy is when you run both speed add-ons, which god-tier billys do. This makes it so that it's actually impossible to dodge a well placed curve, because they practically teleport to you. Of course this means they can't use their chainsaw normally in chase anymore as it takes like 5 seconds to charge up but you move all the way across the map in like 4 seconds and you can curve like no man has ever seen to make up for it. Since you might not know, hillbilly will have a few seconds after just starting his charge where he can move left and right extremely easily, which is the mechanic used to curve, since it's based on time not distance, running speed add-ons allows you to make much more dangerous curves than normal.

Ahhh okay! I think I always just heard this as speed-billy, lol. What a thing that is. I like crackhead billy more tho :p

  • Can I ask what crack-head billy is? I've heard of the rest, but that one is unknown to me :o

  • @kaeru said:

Make it unchained. And make it take legendary effects only when all 3 pieces weared.

That could be bad, we already have enough bugs with seperate cosmetics as is, a whole different character being split into 3 could be troublesome. I think they should just make new survivors, although the grind would be tremendous, I would prefer that over a 14$ skin.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/A3JJBC56VBUW/uglykate.png

Yeah, third thought, let's make all cosmetics sets I would never ever want anybody to see this

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1446336#Comment_1446336

You asked what sets we'd like to see and I said I'd like if they weren't sets. That is very much on topic.

No, I said what sets. If you want to complain abt sets, start a new thread please. And I said contributing, not being on topic. There's already enough people complaining, it's nothing new.

  • @Blueberry said:

Less sets so we can mix and match. No one wants to just be another cookie cutter outfit that everyone else is wearing.

Fair, but I mean sets don't have to be 3 piece. And also this wasn't really contributing much to the original question. Although I don't get why devs make sets always in three right now when some can clearly have parts mixed and matched. This thread was just for things like hoodies, dresses, etc.

  • @stargazer9 said:

We have been asking for a casual mode with the same gameplay objectives for years and we didn’t see anything yet and you want them to add a mode with completely different elements and objectives? Lol. I mean don’t get me wrong I would love new modes to be added in the game, we really need something different but I doubt we’ll see anything of the sort any time soon. There’s only one mode: “ranked” and we don’t even have a practice arena. The game lacks so much.

It's so weird bc I never really played online games until Dead By Daylight, so this really set the standard for me. Then, I go try other games and think "holy s#*t! why doesn't dbd have this?" and then I realize most of those things are baseline for other games. This game needs so much, like you said.

  • @yobuddd said:

As was mentioned earlier, were way off topic from the call of this thread.

I’d like to see something that turns DeathSlinger into a deer hunter or modern-day rifle soldier or something similar. He can have a new face and everything, as ideally this would turn him into an entirely different character.

Oooh this makes the Deathslinger main in me happy, I would love to see that! I wish that some killers had more normal looking bodies, his visual aesthetic feels too locked to his story at the moment, which is cool, but like you said, he could have a new look :o

  • @yobuddd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1446285#Comment_1446285

I get what you’re saying, but I think that’s exactly why people are fond of this freedom. They can try to look goofy if they want, or try to find weird combinations that surprisingly seem to work.

From a numbers standpoint, just imagine 3 outfits. If they’re sets, you have 3 options to choose from. If they’re separate pieces, you have 18 possible combinations! I just think its always better to leave players with more freedom to customize their game.

This is fair. Although I think the devs would also like to keep a more mature aesthetic to their horror game. Also, ngl I feel like if bunny Feng was a set, that hoodie would've been far better. Instead they made a weird bag-on-your-head look.

  • Then make another thread, I didn't ask what you thought of sets, only what sets you want.

  • @yobuddd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1446274#Comment_1446274

Agree. I think sets should be used solely for changing the identity of your character, not just clothes. Clothes should remain as 3 customizable pieces.

    @BubbaMain64 said:

Them not being a set so we can use our cosmetics how we want to.

I think sets of 2 are ok. Anything beyond had best be like a giant blob that cannot be seperated. But I get what you mean. I want seperate head + body cosmetics for survivors, but I also really want dresses that don't have weird seams

But also, this thread was not asking for that. It was asking what sets you wanted to see, if none, just don't say anything and waste anybody's time. Make your own thread.

  • @Marcavecunc said:

As much as I disliked Midwich when it first came out because I didn't know the layout of it.. now I wouldn't want it to change. Yes, there aren't many ways up or down.. but there's a staircase in two opposite corners, and points to vault down in different places.. and at least one other way to go up (the fallen down ceiling)

It's one of those maps that grow on you! Not all maps need to be super safe and have super strong loops! Some maps are better for one side or the other.. and heck some maps are great for certain killers and bad for others.. I know I love indoor maps on Pyramid Head! Sniping unsuspecting survivors through walls is the best thing ever!

I get that, it is cool. I don't like the fact they made on stairway completely breakable walls though, that should always be accessible IMO. But the way survivors run on it... it feels so disconnected. Like how some maps may have a Z wall nearby that you can run to before going to that jungle gym, this has hardly anything to interact with beyond a couple windows and many unsafe pallets. It doesn't feel dynamic if that makes sense. Hawkins is (weirdly, and only recently) one of my favorites bc it has changing routes you can run depending on what pallets are dropped/broken. And as killer, not all are necessary to break! It's just cool IMO bc it has different routes to run but Midwich feels like nothing in it is very connected, minus a few things. Although I LOVE the siren sounds and those make it totally worth playing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443043#Comment_1443043

I played Midwich earlier and it felt like the Survivor was too far away when leaving that window. I was playing Freddy (115% Killer) but still felt too slow to reach the Survivor in time.

Yeah, it's really not fun on either side IMO. Too long to find people, too boring of chases with hardly any mind to game.

  • @SnakeSound222 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1442823#Comment_1442823

It's on the second floor that's between two rooms and at the end of a wall. The Killer has to go all the way around it to reach the Survivor. Even breaking the wall doesn't do that much because the Survivor can just vault back over and waste a good amount of time. If you're right at the window and the Killer can't get a hit, they have to keep running around the wall (and it's a long wall, not as long as Haddonfield's fences, but still long). I think adding a hole or breakable wall to the middle of it would help out.

Really? I find treating that like an unsafe pallet works wonders. Just have 'em vault it thrice and it's blocked and they're basically dead meat. Those rooms usually only come with either absolutely nothing aside from the window, or an unsafe pallet. Which both are basically a death sentence to any killer who can follow a survivor. But I wish they have a better route. Those windows are so out of the way of everything that going to them usually only works as a last moment resort.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1442811#Comment_1442811

It's survivor sided in the worst way possible. All midwich is just a bunch of straight lines. All survivors really have to do is hold w in a hallway and eventually try to play around a pallet or vault in a side room when the killer gets closed.

It'll take most killers a good minute or two just to even get a down against a survivor who can just hold w as there's not much a killer can do to cut off a survivor and there's not really any loops to play around.

It's just boring for both sides. There's no real mind games to play and not many ways to really outplay the other side.

Thank you! It's so braindead, survivors just stay away, but once you finally catch up, it's either a god pallet or they die.

  • @SnakeSound222 said:

Midwich needs more dropdowns and a review of its windows. At least one of those windows is completely safe for the Survivor.

Trying to think, which one are you talking about exactly? Most of them come paired with a breakable wall, but I'm curious. But definitely needs more dropdowns.

Would survivors still need to complete 5 gens? Seems like it would take way too long for survivors to repair.

    • random amount of time searching for a box
    • 8 seconds of searching
    • returning to generator
    • 10 seconds repair

This x4 assuming the survivor got the correct part in each box would take 72 seconds not counting the amount of time it would take to find a box, to get the right part & to return to the gen. Also not counting time survivors have to leave their gen to unhook teammates or loop the killer.

I wouldn't be able to see this being a fun experience for a survivor and that's coming from a killer main, also would be concerned to see how this would affect perks & powers which work off gens (ruin, lullaby, pop, overcharge, prove thyself, etc).

I believe I was thinking 4, but I don't know why I did not state it lol. But as a 50/50 split, I think this would be far more fun than sitting still for 80 seconds. It also forces stealth play to become more of a big deal to avoid getting caught. Makes the game scarier.

All you'd have to do to test that is play without a headset and turn off the stereo sound on your TV. Play some matches as Spirit like that and see how it goes.

I have before, and that's why I bring this idea up. When mixing bass I usually try disabling stereo sound on my monitors, it feels far more balanced to do so when playing Spirit, too.

  • @ABannedCat said:

Am I the only one who can clearly hear her footsteps while she is phasing, which makes her very easy to dodge?

How is removing audio NOT gutting her? She would be basically unplayable.

FOR THE 70TH TIME THIS THREAD, IT IS NOT REMOVING AUDIO. Good GOD people cannot read. It is removing the ability to tell which direction the audio is coming from, it still lets you determine how far, and that the sound is in fact there, but it doesn't instantly give away where they are.

  • @Endstille said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1439549#Comment_1439549

Because you want to gut the killer. I am tired of this "requires skill" to play. You know what? The people that put in hundreds of hours in order to master a skill on one of the few killers that required mechanical skill now all got screwed by reworks.

Spirit can be as easy to play as survivor is. There can be a killer that requires them to do a little bit more than to loop.

    This

    A) isn't "gutting" her

    B) isn't about billy

Take your strawmen to another post.

  • Clearly, as all do, nobody stops to consider. Just comment a joke and carry on. That's why devs take this community with a grain of salt anymore.

Sorry, how does making her have 0 feedback help except make the 4 as individual s as powerful as the 1 in chase..it cant work that wsy

I'm guessing the 4 vs 1 is you referring to survivors versus killer? Well, first of all, she doesn't have 0 feedback. She still has volume. That in itself can be used to triangulate a survivors location. Although this may not be the precise solution to her, they should make the amount of feedback on both ends even IMO. Either give survivors slightly more feedback (Not what I think is the right move) or take away a bit of Spirit's. She will still be strong, just not extremely easy.

  • @Customapple0 said:

Spirit is the only killer that doesn’t get punished for misplays with her power. She needs a post-phase fatigue after lunging.

Ooooh I'm not gonna say that's the thing. But I understand your point. But that's definitely not a good idea for her IMO. I think that might be too much, but the thing is misplays with her power are nearly impossible unless you are just really bad at her.

  • @TWiXT said:

Fine, make it so that Spirit hears survivors grunts and footsteps omnidirectionally instead of directionally. Now we have a Spirit player who can't see survivors, their blood spots, can't touch them, and can only hear that they are in an area, but is otherwise completely unable to pinpoint where while phasing. Aside from moving across the map faster, at what point in this scenario, would using her power be any benefit to her? Even worse, If the survivors are using Iron Will, a perk that's already a bane to her, It just became the number 1 "Perk 2 Win" against Spirit, since she won't even know an injured survivor is in the area.

Adding this to Spirit, a killer who primarily hunts by sound (in a game that frequently has sound issues every other update), would mean that she has to exit phasing to give chase normally, and since she moves at 4.4 m/s, she would be the worst killer to play. Have you ever played Hag, Huntress, Deathslinger, or Spirit, and just said "I'm not using my power today, because I want to see how much more of a challenge it will be to chase down survivors, and M1 them at lower than average speed!"? I can tell you right now, if anyone has done it, they just played the worst killer in the game and they know it.

So many people argue that Spirit takes no skill, but they are flat out wrong, and likely haven't tried playing her themselves. Hunting by sound, and prediction is much more challenging than most realize, not to mention survivors HAVE ways of juking her while she's phasing by taking advantage of the fact that she can only see their scratch marks, and has to rely on hearing them, so using perks like Iron Will, Urban Evasion, Quick and Quiet, Dance with me, or Fixated gives them heavy advantages against her, the rest is all in the mindgames. She has her mindgames, but can be mindgamed back just as easily, and IMO, the only reason people complain is because they don't even try to mindgame back which gives her the advantage.

OP, you're asking for her to be limited to using her power for Map Traversal only. At least until she comes into an area where she can hear survivors but can't pinpoint them, and then has to exit phasing in order to chase them at 4.4 m/s since using her power won't help at all during a chase. If this becomes the rout the devs take, then she'll need something to compensate, like 4.6 m/s base movement speed, the ability to see survivors scratch marks even when they aren't running, or see their auras while phasing when close enough, otherwise she'll be F tier at best... Although I assume that's what all the complainers are really after anyway, so writing this response is likely pointless.

You. Can. Still. Pinpoint. It just takes trial and error, it's a game of hotter, colder. Getting closer? The volume increases on their moans. Getting further? Volume decreases. Although Iron Will counters her insanely too well, that's an entirely different issue. I think the game's perks create too much variety in balance and they are a mistake in some ways. But back to what I was saying. She becomes skillful. I really wish people here would understand that and be willing to put in time into a killer beyond 2 matches and suddenly they become a god. Spirit's strength is insanely high, but her learning curve is extremely low and the learning curve to counter her? Practically non-existent because you hardly can. And I mentioned buffing her speed in turn for this update to 115% on another post under this. But I appreciate the response. And yes, she would need something in turn for Iron will. Possibly increased base footstep sounds or even a noise emitted back to you from them, similar to a sonar-effect. But with her vacuum noise probably.

  • @immortalls96 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1438385#Comment_1438385

So the solution is to gut them..as long as survivors have a good time nothing else matters..the dark times proved it didnt it?..seriously every "solution" only helps survivors..and I'm tired of it..billy has me weary of this bs

This is not gutting her? It's making Spirit require skill, would you know what it feels like? Her power is BRAINLESS to use at the moment and not even fun playing as her. I know that people want to protect their braindead killers at all costs, but at rank 1? That power becomes an absolutely disgusting thing to play against. As her? A guilty pleasure. But I don't want her to be so awful. I love The Spirit but her power needs a slight change. Not to be gutted. Phase walk would still be powerful for those who can be skillful. Sounds like somebody doesn't know how to.

  • Sadly I reckon I'm contributing with my ideas, but I ONLY put these out in hopes of balance. Not making survivor insta-win, not making killer insta-win, just gathering what I know with near 3K hours and wanting to make the game better to play for all. I don't know why I bother, I get absolutely brutalized either way.
