  • I really love the effort you put into this! It's a cool concept, and I think it could use some tweaks, but I would love to play trapper if this were the case.

I think the tossing traps is a good idea, but I think that clamping should only be allowed on retrieval. Maybe, when tossing a trap, if it hits a survivor they just scream and receive a heavy hindered penalty (deflecting the trap) and then placing the trap behind them where it lands. This way, maybe there could be some dynamic of avoiding hitting survivors, creating a skill expression in tossing the trap OVER survivors, ahead of them, creating a hazard directly in front of them and also not making trapper a directly ranged killer. I think part of the iconic factor of trapper is that he isn't ranged. I do love the idea of tossing traps though, big time saver. I think that retrieval can still apply clamped though, that's a good idea.

I'm excited to see what you come up with for add-ons!

  • I noticed this too with Unknown's UVX, it will bounce a random direction when shot over picnic tables for no known reason other than a messed up hitbox.

  • I agree, I tried all match to get a deviousness score and the only one I got was "Jumpscare" for 1000 for grabbing someone in the security room. I expected them walking through my axe radius to give some deviousness, but no, it was just 50 hunter points (???). Great missed opportunity on deviousness scores with this killer.

  • This absolutely needs to be addressed ASAP. I've had the longest game in my entire DBD experience since 2017 since I went against a duo that had a wraith go around and kick gens, break pallets, and reveal survivors while the billy just went around and slugged people until everyone bled out. Not a single cage used.
I think unbreakable by default would be a great idea, especially considering how fast you can cage a survivor.

  • You know, I used to LOVE bringing OG Hangman's trick. Nobody realized how insanely useful always getting your hooks back was. No matter how many people died, no part of the map ever became a deadzone on hooks! Also just felt like a good luck charm so I ran it every match until it changed.

  • I just played a match in Chaos as Killer and wound up with no perks, favorite build!

The map really was one of the biggest disappointments i had (regarding the map in a chapter).

I was so excited to see some ancient temple in a dessert.

Placing that temple in red forest was such a bad idea.

At least her design looks great and she has 2 absolutely awesome perks.

Very late sorry, but having seen this comment again, what did you think of the Eyrie of Crows?

  • @Mazoobi said:

Are we talking about in-game mechanics? Mmm probably not. They're quite simple to understand. The amount of perks or powers that usually come with these mechanics makes them time-consuming to understand for newer players.

As for balancing, yeah. It feels like a new issue is found every day. /s

(Note; This is nothing against you! Your opinion is fine and dandy, I just have had this issue for a long time and this update has made me want to communicate it well. I'm just going crazy with all I've ever thought about the inconsistency in DBD.)

I would say all of it lately. When I left DBD, I had already believed for a long time that perks were far too complex and that caused a lot of unnecessary complications. With boon totems and scourge hooks, a whole new layer has been added to slop pile of perks that are less perks and more of a power.

I think simplicity was a key aspect to dead by daylight, a simple game of 1 killer versus 4 survivors, with an equally easy to understand objective for both sides. While it is somewhat simple to long-time players, it is certainly not to newcomers. Alongside the ever-growing meta, the consistency in Dead by Daylight is a HUGE issue for me lately. My main examples/issues being:

    • Boon totems are a whole new type of survivor perk with new rules. I personally always felt that if a perk generated something like a new animation or new UI overlay, it was too much to be considered a perk. And with these new perks, the inconsistency across the board of all perks is even further expanded. Diversion has its own animation, For The People and a select few others have a unique sound, Boon totems have a custom UI overlay, sound, and even environmental objects (blue orbs). It's just aesthetically messy. Not to mention the whole new relationship it has on core mechanics with other existent perks/powers. It's just exponential.
    • Again, we have a new perk gimmick: Scourge Hooks. While cool, it's just further complicating an already chaotic perk roster. Scourge perks seem to add a new indicator into DBD's gameplay: sparks around hooks. It's not particularly aesthetically consistent with the entity, although similar in color.
    • The Artist's power: I'm not talking about the mechanics, I think each killer having unique mechanics is a fun and good variety to have. But, having giant crow heads in game is not particularly consistent with what DBD has presented before. Of course, nothing in DBD has to be realistic, but these aren't particularly supernatural or scary. They look silly.

These are my main issues from the recent update, and when you mix these with the current DBD, I certainly think that every game will look like and feel like this if you have anywhere less than 500 hours:

    image.png

  • Did they not get reworked since they came out? I haven't played in a long while, but I recall seeing a leaked add-on that hinted at a rework. The add-on suggested something like Victor's pounce being fully charged would trigger a new action of some sort.

  • @sleepy_knight said:

I find her quite scary. On first glance she looks like a normal human but then she has all those tiny birdlike details that are super unnerving to me.

The bird proportions, the huge iris with the black sclera, the twitchy movement, the head tilts, even the noises.

I adore birds but seeing these things on a human so well blended is creepy af. It's the uncanny valley thing.

I do not like her dress tho

Anyway, about fantasy. Wraith and spirit turn invisible, hag and nurse teleport. Those are powers straight out of some superhero comics. I think she fits in just fine, way better than Demo or Nemesis imo even though I like both.

In terms of fantasy, I understand killers having some paranormal/supernatural powers, however, I do not find giant floating crow heads to be ANYTHING that looks remotely good in dead by daylight.

  • @Laluzi said:

I think Carmina fits in just fine. It's her mannerisms. She acts like a bird in a human body - the twitches, the bobbing, the gurgled chirping and shrieks. The pitch-black eyes are the cherry on top of the uncanny valley.

She's way more unnerving than something like Trickster or Legion. I could easily imagine her in a horror movie.

I do think the way her power looks is a bit silly though. I could do without the giant crow heads - that looks like something more out of an action/fighter game than a horror one. Same with her mori, it's awesome except for the giant crow bursting out of their body. That's just kind of stupid. If it had just been a flock of crows descending to pick at the corpse after she tears out their eyes, that would have been far punchier.

I would say I agree, but she is far from the uncanny valley, she has too many things to set her apart. However, her ink hands are pretty scary upon second glance. Looks messed up, in a good way.

This is an amazing idea. BHVR has to look at this. When do you think you'll bring out a backstory for them?

I did a while back! But, I removed it because it was related to police brutality, and this was during a very controversial time. Maybe I'll reconjure it up and release it. But I've kinda lost interest in DBD after the NFT, and now the new chapter.

  • I used to always stay up late on a call with my crush, I was so head over heels for him. We used to play survivor late in the night. Then, when queues got too long to endure, I would play killer and stream it to him and he would watch and always hype me up. Then, at school, we'd always talk about upcoming chapters, content, and stuff we wanted to see in the game. I remember he was always saying how he wanted a killer with eyes that lit up in some cool power mode, and when Oni came about, we were so hyped. It was probably my favorite thing in all of highschool, and I long for those days again.

  • @scenekiller said:

I’ll never forget my very first survivor match in 2018.

Me (playing as Claudette) and a Jeff were both slugged as the last two survivors. The killer couldn’t find us and we both crawled to the fireplace on Ormond and died together spinning around aimlessly.

It was such a great display of team unity lol

My first round was a little less cute haha, I played as nurse and had no idea what to do. Didn't care for a tutorial, if there was one. I just spent a good portion of the match hitting a totem trying to make it do something. Survivors were teasing me left and right but I had no idea what was even happening so I did not mind. I'll miss those days.

  • Couldn't be! I know BHVR would never put money before their audience, game, or even planet! That is not like them at all. It must have been something else...

  • image.png

Same, it's brutal, but it was necessary.

  • Same sentiments to you! People like are you the backbone of all that is/was good in this community, it's a shame the game has gone this direction. Proud of you for leaving it in this situation though, it's not the easiest decision, no doubt.

  • I feel you completely.

I remember when I first saw DBD, I was in art and saw a spotlight for Freddy Krueger, and I instantly grew obsessed. I had been waiting ages for a game like this, and here it was. I got into, poured too much of my life into it, and got stuck. I had so many good friends from it though, and I used to stay up late with my crush playing survivor together, or he would watch me play killer and talk about how good I was. It was stupid, but it was so nice. Over time, DBD got worse, my crush ended up not ever progressing with me, and all of my old friends stopped playing. Even though there are still plenty of people playing, it feels like a ghost town of a video game to me. But with recent developments, I need to say goodbye to it and it kind of breaks my heart, because I never had gotten so involved with a community like this. But the memories will always have a nice place in my heart. Especially those late nights, but the game is simply not the same and I can't see it getting better soon, and I'm sure my life will be better without it.

If you ever need to talk though, I'm here for it! DBD may be awful, but the people behind the screens are still people all the same!

  • I have no option but to do the same, sad thing to see how downhill this has come. I can't see the game ever making me quite as excited as when Stranger Things came out.

I want to quit so unbelievably bad but I have literally no other online games to play. Maybe I should try playing dbd custom workshop game modes in overwatch. I genuinely have had more fun with those than actual dbd at times

For me, I had to replace it with more real-world stuff, such as practicing piano, learning a new language, etc. Those things are super helpful and productive when it comes to quitting DBD, atleast in my experience. Other than that, I've shifted my video game focus to Train Sim World 2 (???) but that's probably unique to me because I just love trains, too. But best of luck! I suggest not spending a single dollar more, and trying to lower your hours in game. Just realize that the rift and other content is nothing very worthwhile, that's what I had to do. It's not really going to help you in the long run to have a recolored Nea outfit from tome 8 or something.

But, besides that.. I'm free. I guess goodbye dbd lmfao.

I'll still be in the forums, but I'm gonna be a cranky #########

That's honestly the best attitude to have. If it's too much, step away. A lot of people like to complain about BHVR but they continue to support them anyway. I hope the break is good for you!

I'm honestly just so happy to mentally free from this game, the NFT is genuinely a blessing to me in that way. I've about 3,600+ hours, and countless dollars on skins, and I felt indebted to keep playing but this was enough for me to stop. I've had breaks and whatnot before, but this time I think it's best I remove this from my life and move on. But I hope it stays good! It has some good memories in my brain :-) Made some good friends, had fun together, but the game has since lost it's touch on me. This NFT was pretty messy though, and I hope for BHVR's sake that they learn from this.

  • Normally, I would be extremely hyped for a new chapter. This one, however, I didn't really feel attracted to. And now? I definitely don't think I'll be putting any more time, money, or effort into this game and company. BHVR has proven to be pathetic over the years, and this NFT was just the cherry on top.

Cheers if you are gonna be around for it, I hope it'll be good! And I hope BHVR learns from this.

Nope. They only got a license for the likeness in the mask. They didn't get anything involving "Scream".

This was in regards to the new movie, not DBD ghostface. The rights to create an addition to the Scream franchise were acquired for it.

I think the refresh button is a good idea. The characters I've gotten to P3 level 50 is reaaaaaaaally just for the flex. The slight increase to rarer item chances feels negligble, especially when hitting a new prestige and needing to level up again, it doesn't make me get the perks I want faster or anything. Just I guess more emergency med-kits and less first aid ones. So adding this refresh button as a bigger reward for those who sink the points in could make me not have those situations where I'm like "I really don't want to do an entire level 50 bloodweb to just hopefully get a iridescent button"

I also wonder, in your head can this refresh be used at any time or only on an untouched bloodweb? Like if I decided to get a couple items and add-ons, maybe a perk or two, and then instead of getting the last four chalk pouches, I just refresh it to save BP. I mean I got no issue with no longer needing to stack up instructions and shrouds of separation.... Haha!

Yeah, I agree. I PIII just to feel completed on a character, but it's so demanding and for little to no real reward.

In my head, I thought it could be used at any moment, but maaaybe a little mechanic where for each item you buy, it reduces the cost to refresh by 50 BP. That way, say you buy 5 items, the bloodpoint refresh would only cost 1,000 BP instead of 1,250.

  • Hangman's Trick, and Camaraderie IMO. I used to run both fairly often, Hangman was a goodluck charm. It came in use in niche moments before the aura change, but now I don't use it as it has no effect on broken hooks. Camaraderie I try to run now and then, only once has it ever activated, and it was not any deciding factor on if I lived.

No one left behind used to be ok when the requirement was only the final gen being done

I still run it now and then, but this change made it very not worth it. It's hard enough to use as is, and this EGC change made it even worse.

  • I personally think it would be neat if she did a little twitchy thing (unique to vaulting) and then disappeared and reappear on the other side. You'd still be able to tell she was vaulting, but it would look cooler IMO and more on brand. Or maybe even have her flash a phase of her mid-vault.

  • @Seiko300 said:

A change which tackles both Prestige Rewards (currently a very large portion of the community believe P3 50 all perks just isn't worth the time) and potentially reduces grind as well. Not because people are grinding less, but because they're getting what they want / need more quickly since they can refresh bloodwebs. Instead of going ages and ages without seeing a single of whatever it is they're looking for as they go through bloodweb after bloodweb after bloodweb.

I see 0 reason to not support this change. Unless you're a masochist who either 1. likes spending more time than you need to on a thing or 2. doesn't want tangible reward incentives to make all the time spent getting to P3-50 worthwhile, so as to make a players time spent more meaningful as you've got something to work toward.

One of the best ideas I've heard on the forums in a long while and I'm keenly looking forward to bringing this up in future discussions until it is hopefully implemented in game.

Thank you! I'm so glad someone agrees :-) I had never, in 4 years of playing DBD, thought of something like this until the other night when I accidentally went to prestige a PIII character and it hit me, haha.

I really, really hope this gains some traction.

I think it has something to do with chain hunts. In my experience

    • if a chain hunt is happening and you pick up the box as pinhead, you DC.
    • If a chain hunt is happening and you down the last survivor (no more targets for chain hunt) you DC.
    • If a survivor holds the box hostage and gets a personal chain hunt, some interaction causes the DC.

Everything has to do with chain hunt. My guess is that it has to do with how the chains are spawned. The chains spawn locations or something similar aren't correctly being sent to the server, and the server doesn't know what to do with it, so it just dies.

Conclusion: the chain hunts will hunt your internet cord.

As a twins main, it can be, but it's usually just painful. Victor can't vault, so he can be easily countered. Also, with how big the map is, sadly by the time you find em, they're usually healed or long gone, if not both. :p

    ok

  • I may be masochistic for it, but I love 'em. But not the kind where it's like a huge difference between an infinite and a sudden deadzone. Those walls are annoying. I like the ones where it alters the map's layout and creates shortcuts. Not completely chase altering, but it does shake things up.

One thing I would LOVE is if Gas Heaven got a breakable wall to break in the center of those long lines of car stacks.

  • I don't feel like this is a common opinion, but Dead Dawg is my favorite map to date. The graphics for starters are insanely well done, but that's not why I love it. I love it because it's dynamic, it changes drastically over the round. It can begin favoring survivors, but any oppressive killer can shift that quickly. And for stealth killers, there's a lot of coverage/obscured area. Main issue IMO is probably the bushes. Claudettes THRIVE on Dead Dawg

Also, it feels like the perfect size for a map. Dunno why, but it feels like that.

  • Some David was crouched in a rock corner, and I was doc so I took the opportunity to tier III him, promptly letting him out of the corner once tier III had been reached, and I was warmly greeted with my favorite interaction to date;

After all, a Fancy Survivor is still suffering but at least looks good survivor (personally want Leon's Infinite Darkness skin, a Bill outfit where's he's a suit for whatever reason, basically call me the Purple Guy cause I have to put everyone in suits).

Yes yes yes! I've always wanted a nice little suit for Adam, I should think a teacher located in Japan would have one, but all we get is streetwear... seems a little racist not going to lie. Although I'm probably just reading too far into it.

If you're writing a poll- I would first suggest not insulting the people that take the time to respond, especially for petty and subjective things like "imagination" in regards to the question that you've posed which you're trying to get them to answer. I'm not allowed to ask for a bit of clarity on the poll you wrote???

Instead- perhaps provide some examples of what you consider is a good example / representative / fit for each category?

But no- you're ambiguous and opaque language is somehow the fault of my imagination. Ok.

I mean. If you don't like the poll, ignore it? Lol

  • I have always been an odd fan of indoor maps, but this one... This is straight from hell. I have NO IDEA how this made it past the team? It's huge and horribly designed.

Plague's power was effectively gutted by the servers as her power has extremely unreliable hit detection.

The issue is just how the developers made her power as its not a stream(The "Vomit Flamethrower") but a very wonky "Vomit machinegun" as the devs called it.

Aka it shoots out small shoots every ~.5 seconds which due to how the net code currently is causes a lot of issues with that many projectiles.

Along with the fact that the steam can hit but not the bullets causing what looked like hit shots to miss meanwhile the quantity of projectiles seem like too much for the server to handle/track.

This is true, but also she's slightly bugged too in the manner that survivors WILL cough and hurl as if they've been infected, but they won't get infected. That's just to add to the insult already.

  • @Seiko300 said:

I feel like the poll options are a bit too vague and ambiguous for me to make a clear call. What would you consider "normal / casual clothing"? What's the difference between "fancy unrealistic clothing" and "fancy realistic clothing"? Where do we draw the line of realism, and what is considered realistic or not??

I can't even really say Lore-Related cosmetics either because the lore is being written as the game continues, so we can't even exactly predict the kinds of outfits different characters will get without just flat out speculating. For example I never would have guessed that Ace's "lore-related cosmetic" would have been some casual, fight-club esque clothes he wore to a bar one day where he would attempt to settle a bet. On the one hand I actually do like the story and the outfit, both have grown on me since they were first released and I use them more often than some of the other cosmetics he's got available to him. On the other hand I was really hoping for something else that felt more "Ace": for example what is now the Ace Vegas outfit- I could totally see on the rift, and a story focused on Ace gambling in Las Vegas would have been perfect for the rift.

    Not what we got.

So yeah, I guess I'll just vote for normal / casual clothing? Whatever that would entail...

Also, I like Felix's hair, and I don't see what's wrong with it. Beyond I suppose being more visible in your matches? Besides the hair bug I don't really see how that would make a truly significant difference- and if the problem is really just aesthetic than I'd say I like how the hair is currently.

That's the idea, I didn't want to be too specific. Use your imagination. If you can't, then I dunno how to help ya there.

But yeah I agree a bit with what I think you're trying to say there, the inconsistency between characters and their lore can be frustrating. Adam, for example, is a teacher in Japan but hardly has any sophisticated outfits minus his default and maybe the 80s collection. I would hope he would get more formalwear at some point.

And the Felix part was a joke, but hey I mean female survivors often get different colors of hair, why not some fellas too? Aside from the odd ones given to David and Jake...

I feel that they only change the eye, with bigger iris. The cheek has no change, perhaps the area isnt easy to get darken by the lack of light, giving the cheek less show out.

Yeah I think they did something with the eyes on all survivors, looks more real IMO. Also, with the cheeks, it's just texturing. She had some weird contouring colors on her cheek beforehand that made her look like she abuses drugs ngl.
