Now about the broken add ons (mainly Mother-Daughter Ring and Dried Cherry Blossom) doesn’t really have reliable counterplay other than actually predropping which is why I really want those add ons removed entirely or changed into something else. They’re not healthy for new Spirit players nor is it fair to go against.

I can help out countering Spirit in general though. She’s different from most killers, I would certainly recommend playing her yourself a little to get a feel for what survivors do against you.

Anyway though, the most important thing to note is to use your ears. Being unpredictable is the way to go, and switching up your plays. For example, you can double fast vault a thrown pallet one play, run the direction the audio is traveling to throw her off the next. Faking your scratch marks like you’re going to be at a pallet and then walking right past it does work and can throw her off. You can even just walk without running at all away from a loop when you know she’s phasing.

Some of this stuff is a bit hard to explain on just text so I’m doing my best, but morally of the story is to forget about the standard looping, and use Spirit not being able to hear survivors to your advantage. Thinking outside the box as long as you’re unpredictable with it is the way to go against her.

    Hope this helps a bit.

All of this sounds good but when I do a double vault unless it’s a god pallet she’ll just go around and downs me. I try to fake the scratch marks but with her addons she can stay leased for an absurdly long amount of time (which also increase her recovery speed) so she’ll know they’re fake listen for my footsteps, breathing, and then I die. It onl works against like half way decent spirirt. Good to decent spirits just know lol.

He does not care whatsoever about surviving or dying. Idk about you but most people want to win while having fun or at least not getting steam rolled. I can have fun while memeing but my MMR will drop so much that I’m gonna be smurfing. That’s what your missing.

Why do killers complain when they only get 1K if they can meme around and have fun? Plenty of killers farm or just meme around with the survivors. Am I missing something?

Scotts not a killer main, he is some one that went through the usual process of being a killer main, burning out on the game, trying other games and then coming back to be basically play 90% survivor.

I love Scott but he mostly runs meme builds and trolls lol. He also has not been experiencing the huge increase in tunneling and camping which, while it does not make his opinion invalid, he also can’t experience being tunneled and camped at 5 gens for no reason almost every match.

And the only reason he doesn’t play killer is because of the queue times.

  • How is Off the Record a problem for killers? They’re literally throwing themselves at you if their body blocking AND you have increased swing recovery, survivors have decreased distance fro, getting hit, and you break pallets and gens faster. What is there to complain about just force the body blocker in a bad position take the endurance hit and down them. Now you can tunnel and it’s not even your fault since again, their throwing themselves at. You have to be new to the game

Most people who say gens are too boring don't want a second objective, the only logical solution here, because then that will take too much time. They already complain about 10-second longer gens, so it's out of the question I guess.

Because every “second objectives” are just holding M1 but on a different object. Nothing changing at all.

  • @GrimReaperJr1232 said:

Yeah, solo queue sucks. I say this as someone who exclusively plays survivor solo. Literally any buff to killer would hurt solo queue.

There are features coming such as the hud update design specifically to help bridge the gap between solos and SWFs.

But... how did solo queue get noticeably worse? Because DS is nerfed? Not really, since Off the Record does the same thing, can be used twice, last longer, can't be outslugged, etc.

Killers camping and tunneling? I figured that's par for the course. 90 sec gens makes it a little worse, but games don't feel much longer since the pre nerf regression perks were stronger and made games feel about the same.

What kills it for me is that every game, there's a baby that just quits at the slightest inconvenience. I had someone give up against a Myers running no slowdowns. Not camping, tunneling, or even his BS add-ons. Just giving up cuz they went down.

It got worse because killers are actually decent lol. The baby survivors now get hard punished and the good survivors can’t do ######### unless they loop for 5 gens. Since gens take longer you can’t make up for your team being bad. SoloQ just highlights how bad MMR is.

Killer is supposed to be the power role. Devs have said that.

That devs have also said that kill = skill, and compared it to a game of hockey. What’s your point? We’re talking about fair balance changes.

Power Role? How come they haven’t touched SWF, the most powerful role in the game then? Contradictory ain’t it

Gicing the killer buffs is fine. That again is not the problem or even what my post was about. Wakening the weakest role in the game is NOT good balancing. It’s insensitiving SWF, the booygman to every single killer apparently. They’re literally doing the “nerf pig” meme but with SoloQ, and even harder and weaker role than killer

Never said it wasn’t. SoloQ is not tho. When in my post did I say the buff was not fine? I said SoloQ feels horrible but for some reason you guys assume that I don’t like the killer buffs.

  • @Dunkinspunkin said:

What is implied? SoloQ objectively got worse, the weakest role in the game. That’s like saying a killer is using crutches if they run any character who isin’t an M1 killer. Extremely hypocritical.

  • Depends, alchemist ring ######### no. Normal Blight yea. Blight with other broken add ons kind of.

Solo queue is notoriously bad as is, and it’s just gotten worse. That doesn’t make every complaint a boosted survivor throwing a tantrum.

By that logic SoloQ have NEVER been fun except when the survivor role was seriously broken in 2016. Idk how killers don’t recognize the hypocrisy

most team games aren't asymmetrical, this is why you are allowed to carry a team (even then they can easily lose).

If 90% of players in SoloQ are bad, they deserves to lose, if we gonna handhold bad players to win for absolutely no reason, game will be pure mess of a balance.

You can literally face camp with gen regress and can guarantee 2 kills almost every single match. Your MMR is raised. So what the game counts as a “win” is sitting on a hook until they die. Because if gen speeds and pretty much a looping nerf with the base kit killer abilities being buffed. So by your logic someone who ran the killer for 2 gens is worse than a person who facecamps all games and guarantees 2 kills. Killer is the only role where you can almost guarantee a kill in every instance unless you just don’t get hooks.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

So using perks like boil over is bullying? okay dude

Bro are you new? If you’re survivor and you do gens you’re toxic cuz you’re gen rushing. You don’t do gens and meme? You’re toxic because you’re bullying the killer instead of doing gens. You loop the killer for a long time? Toxic you get facecamped because you’re good. You display any, and I mean ANY kind of coordination does not matter if you’re SoloQ the killer thinks you’re a SWF so you’re toxic.

Can’t have in SoloQ or as a survivor unless you get a decent team, get a fun killer who sizing scummy, and does not run boring perks. It goes both ways obviously with killers just playing the game and certain survivors take that personally. Really can’t win with people.

  • @fulltonon said:

Honestly, one survivor shouldn't be able to carry three bad survivor in team game.

Except 90% of players in SoloQ are bad. By you’re survivors should lose 90% of the time beacuse BHVR doesn’t know what a skill play is. In most team games you can most definitely carry by yourself. This logic would hold if SoloQ wasn’t the weakest role in the game.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

It really helps your argument to call people who disagree as bullies

Is it it crazy how people justify tunneling and camping by saying it’s a valid strategy and people can play how they want but when a survivor “bully’s” a killer with a SWF they suddenly don’t like other peoples play styles?

  • @Negi said:

Yeah, it's annoying seeing this narrative that everyone is spinning like the update ruined solo queue. It's always been awful.

It's never been about gen speeds or information, it's the constant bad decisions your teammates make. Hook farming each other and giving free hooks, not being on gens 80% of the match, going down in like 20 seconds, healing in the corner, never willing to risk it on a gen while injured and creating a domino effect of downed hooked unhooked healed repeat until everyone is dead and no more gens were finished. Solo queue isn't dead nor is it gonna die but it's always been awful.

And now it’s even worse. Last patch I could at least somewhat carry by slamming gens. This patch you just get rolled.

  • I’ve gotten more killer DCs honestly. It’s wild how what excuse you could up with losing as killer in this patch other than SWF

  • You gotta try a little harder if you don’t want your bait to be so obvious

im mixed on that idea. Giving people a bleed out option can either work good or back fire terribly.

######### survivors can just purposely bleed out and leave the other 3 to fight the killer. I don’t think it would work. A suicide button in games have shown to never work

They can already DC, it’s just 5 minutes. Hell it takes longer to go through you’re blood web with the new BP cap than the DC timer. And even if they don’t DC they just kill the selves on hook or throw themselves at the killer. ######### will be ######### no matter what.

Clearly we disagree on just about all of these. It's a little funny that you suggest OTR and Deliverance aren't good and then explain a situation where having both would solve the problem. It's called synergy. Perks working together to solve the shortcomings of just running one or the other.

Also: you seem to REALLY think STBFL is a massive meta perk for some reason. You know that only speeds up basic attacks, right? It doesn't make huntress throw her hatchets any faster or whatever. Also, every hit on the obsession removes stacks, so you typically only run this on killers with alternate damage options, like Demogorgon. It's really, really bad for a majority of the killer cast.

But please, why not share what perks are you're running?

I’m running BT, SB, Botany, and the other perk slot is for time challenges. If I complete it I usually run Windows to try to improve my looping and don’t have to pray that whatever direction I’m going has something I can work with.

BT for tunneling killers and so I don’t have to rely on people running OTR, I can guarantee they could get to a safe loop unless they’re in a dead zone.

SB because best exhaustion perk in the game. No explanation needed.

BK because I don’t of Makheila (idk how to spell her name) unlocked so might as well go for the 2nd best option.

  • I also explain like 5 situations where they’re hard countered by killers base mechanics or by just staying near hook?

Ok but Deliverance + OTR is it doing anything against any high mobility or ranges killer proxy camping lol. You get off hook, you go down again. Bonus points if you’re anti#tunnel that way the survivor gets ######### even harder.

Which is why no huntress runs STBFL? I’m so confused as to what the point is? If the survivors ran the meta then killers would counter it by running xyz. If most reviviré ran a healing build than killers would start playing Plauge. I thought we were talking about meta here not just random killers and survivors running random perks. Blight and Nurse still delete the survivor “meta”. The “meta” just cannot compare to killer meta.

  • @Entitys_potato said:

Pain resonance requires you to catch a survivor and be lucky enough to be next to a scourge hook.

Call of brine requires you to waste time kicking the gen and give the survivor time to run and can be instantly cancelled by another survivor

Thana requires you to injure multiple survivors and keep them injured.

They all have different activation requirements with upsides and downsides.

Endurance requires you to get hit. That's it...

Oh you mean with the new instant regress times and speed increases and 90 second gens? Oh noooo you have to kick a gen.

The killer has to WHAT? CATCH A SURVIVOR? Impossible make it base kit and make it so all gens are blocked for 20 minutes. Can’t believe the killer has to catch a survivor and be next a Scourge hook (the entire point of the perk) for it to work. Imposible to get.

If ONLY there were killers that excel at injuring and keeping survivors injured like Plauge, Oni, Legion, Blight, Nurse, and Wraith. Bawling my eyes right now.

You have to run a specific build of OTR, DH, and MoM. DH is trash, MoM is trash, OTR will get you tunneled when body blocking. High mobility killers would eat you up. You and 1 other person isn’t doing gen if you’re body blocking which to get MoM you have to. You’re literally throwing the game just to 1 hit state maybe 2 if the killer is bad and then right back to hook you go. Where’s the problem compared to making survivors do 3 minute gens?

That's a backronym, an acronym created after the fact to help make a word or concept more digestible.

"Meta" is a shortening of "metagaming," which refers to not playing the game itself, but to step back and analyze how the game works and creating a strategy from there. A good example is the Prisoner's Dilemma. If you play the game, what seems like the good choice is to select the 'kind' option. However, when you metagame the proposition, the logical choice is to always select the 'unkind' option and just hope the other guy choses the kind one.

In the context of video or card games, Meta later came to simply be "whatever gets used the most," which is not exactly what the concept really means, but it's close enough for all practical purposes. For DbD, though, you can actually say (to an extent) that the meta perks ARE metagame choices, because they may not provide the best or most reasonable selections for any individual game, but based on the core rules of the game and average game flow, meta perks tend to bend or break typical matches, especially when used in concert with one another (stacking slowdown or stacking second chances, for example).

    As to the core question:

    • If you think Borrowed Time is "dead" or "got worse in any way," you aren't reading the room. It was the 2nd best, most-used survivor perk before and it only got WAY WAY stronger. There's a pretty huge difference between 5 seconds of invulnerability and speed boost versus 15 seconds. It's WELL worth a perk slot on everybody who plans on doing any rescues ever.
    • OTR is just a free "get out of jail" card, both for if your Solo Q team mates haven't taken Borrowed Time (for some insane reason), if you Kobe/Deliverance, or if you just want a million years of invulnerability/undetectability to reset your status freely.
    • Speaking of, Deliverance was absurd before and it wasn't touched at all, so it's still absurd. If you're saving survivors, this (potentially with OTR) will save you.
    • Kindred. If you're Solo Q and you're not running Kindred, I have no sympathy for you.
    • Saboteur was a somewhat 'team only' perk before, but now that you can see Scourge Hooks? Forget about it. You know for absolute certain WHERE the killer will be doing to and being able to take that down is huge. At worst, you only negate one or two of the killer's perks and spare your gens/status the scourge effect. Sometimes, you end up getting a save from the sabo, and that means the chase starts all over, giving your team that much more time to pop gens.
    • Circle of Healing is the absolute best healing perk in the game. Every game I've played since it came out, there has been at least 1 CoH. Even after THREE nerfs, it is STILL the best healing perk in the game. Now that Self-Care is extra nerfed (for some absurd reason), CoH is even MORE the best. The only excuses to not bring CoH are: you don't want to Pay-To-Win by buying Mikaela, or your SWF team already is bringing a CoH.
    • And, of course, only Dead Hard got a tap, so all the other Endurance Perks are exactly the same as they've always been.

OTR only really works if you’re getting tunneled. Which if you use it to body block the killer would just tunnel you and even easier with the hit receiver and nerf survivor speed boost. Especially since STBFL is already popular and now even more on the rise. You’ll just give him a free hook state and create even more pressure beacuse you’re that much closer to getting out of the game

Deliverance only really works with communication. Killers love coming back to hook every single 5 seconds so you would either need to pair it with other perks for it to be any decent. SoloQ teammates will rightfully still come to your location when hooked which pretty much nullifies the use of the perk to unhook yourself but you’re still wasting 1 person or even 2’s time when the entire point of the perk is to unhook yourself to waste as little time. It’s completely shut down if you’re the first one to get hooked or if someone unhooks before you get the chance. It is shut down hard by proxy camping which again tunneling and camping are rampant like the plague and the best anti tunnel perk DS is garbage now because if the changes I’ve pointed out.

Saboing is one of, No the most useless thing in the game lol. It literally never works 99% of the time and is countered by dropping the survivor. Chasing the saboer, and now you have 1 survivor on the ground, and 1 person not doing anything. It ONLY works if you have a toolbox that makes the hook timer take longer to respawn, and if the killer was far away from a hook. Which again, hard counter by pressing 1 button and now the killer has 2 people not doing gens, 1 slugged, other 1 wasting resources to loop the killer. So now a 3rd person has to come and try to pick up the slugged survivor. 3 people not doing gens now. Best killer perk 2nd only to Self Care.

Yea BT is still strong but it won’t do much against might mobility or ranged killers with STBFL. You’re just dead. Now if killer wants to tunnel you, better have 20k hours at the game and now how to read that Killer like literature to stand any sort of chance of not going right back to that hook.

The last time an endurance perk was strong was when old MoM was a thing. They’re still mid - trash teir perks.

  • @fulltonon said:

But 2 people not doing gen is same as 2 people doing gen, if they can ridiculously waste killer time with just two people they will win.

Forgot to mention you could hit the person with OTR and tunnel him out. Killers love tunneling so again I see 0 problem with endurance and even encourages you to tunnel people which killers already love doing so what is there to complain if this meta were live? In fact Thana Legion would be even stronger? So would Oni and other high mobility killers since they would not only recovered faster from the protection hit you would catch up in time and down them quickly. Force them in a bad position and boom free down from someone whose just been hooked. Now you have free pressure and 2 people weren’t doing gens the entire time. Again ######### would be wrong? Survivors would realize how bad the “meta” is and only ruin it to meme rather than to win.

How are you gonna waste the killers time when 2 people are looping. You either hit the person whose body blocking and with you’re hit recovery and survivor speed nerf you catch up. Double points with STBFL which is an already good perk even without endurance stacking. And either way you get more interaction. And do you realize how long and how BAD the killer has to be for the endurance Mets to work? And the set up to do is literally insane.

The only perk that’s even reliable is OTR because DH is trash and killers can still bait out but even easier since you won’t get anywhere. And maybe MoM which who complains about?

Only if you didn’t know how to wake up. Plus new Freddy is just holding W except every time he hooks your gen loses 20% progress from pop

Rather that than having forever Freddy. Anybody whose played against forever Freddy would’ve preferred ANYTHING over him. People are bitching and moaning that Thana Legion is boring while Freddy was that if he took Steriods and had the genes of Arnold (can’t say his last name for legal reasons).

  • @CaulDrohn said:

Bc stacking endurance is way more busted, esp when all four survivors are doing this.

Sure there are still killers stacking gen protection, which is really not necessary. But the individual perks changed massively. Ruin is extremely rare, pop is rare, PR+DMS is barely used. I had way more Thana and Overcharge games, even jolt was used more often. BBQ is also used way less than before. So the meta did change, just not so much as hoped (yet).

But I feel the patch was the right direction. When playing a killer, I feel much more confident to run gimicky or meme builds adn not be totally stomped by the survivors to do so. Let's hope many "casual" killer players recognize this as well and experiment more with the lesser used perks.

No it’s not lol. First off if you could stack endurance and tried to take a protection hit with OTR while someone is getting chased that means 2 survivors are not doing gens. Not to mention even if they do take a hit STBFL HARD counters the meta and even works in your favor. What is “busted.” DH is dead and you can still bait it out 5x easier than before.

So as killer you have less people doing gens (on top of hit recovery increase, speed burst after hit decreased, 90 second gens, buffed breaking speeds time) and you get more chase interaction. No idea why there is anything to complain about if you could stack. No compare that to Slowdown. You have to hold M1 longer on a 90 second gen. Woo so much.

  • I don’t have to spend 5 minutes on 1 gen

With all my killer expirience, I never played like that. Tho I could camp someone if there is an end game. Camping someone by first hook or at the start of a match is a lamest and most boring way to play such game, and I do think it should be punished. How exactly? Thats a question.

Gen rush is a well known tactic against campers. And I believe, it's still working, if survivors bring perks to increase speed of gens.

I don't agree about tunneling tho. There is NO WAY tunneling now is easier than before. Telling that from a killer sight, no way, it's easier to tunnel someone now.

It does not lol. You can guarantee 2 kills if you combine it with slow down. And there is 0 counterplay for the person on hook. It’s just frustrating knowing nothing you can get you out.

Because devs have made camping viable now. You can probably average a 2K per game just by sitting by a hook.

Do they also still have the MMR calculator where 1 kill equal a win for the killer and the system thinks it was a “skilled” play lol? So can you go up in MMR by literally just face camping and guaranteeing 2 kills?

Look, I have given the game a few days to evaluate the patch. Not a single thing has changed.

Killers camp and tunnel with no penalty.

They easily eat the BT base kit change.

Getting more than 3 gens done is lucky.

    Killer gets a 4k.

This has been in every. Single. Game. Without fail.

Honestly, unless you have a SWF, what is the point of playing survivor now?

I have never seen queue times this long for survivors in the 6 years u have been playing. Even longer than any killer queue time I have had to go through. There's a reason for this, but Behavior doesn't care. They only want money.

Yea ig but pre-patch I could at least carry my team with doing 3-4 gens by myself. Now with the new patch everything is so much more punishing. That doesn’t even add on to the fact that Tomes pretty much make survivors throw the game if you want to finish it quickly. Sucks being un hook knowing there is literally nothing you can do unless you run a very specific build.

Because killers should be able to play the game however they want as long as it’s within the rules.

Yea they can but then those same killers usually complain about SWF. Also within the rules but not fun lol. You can play how you want but it looks hypocritical when that same person complains about someone else’s play styles.

Because its even more effective now, an extra 10 seconds on gens, add on a stack of thanatophobia and deadlock and you can camp them for two gens, then repeat for the free 2k.

It’s just the proxy camping too. What’s the point in leaving the hook if you’re gonna come back 5 seconds later every time :(

  • Yea I miss having 20 minute matches of holding M1 :( so sad he’s gone. /s
