You are technically right, but that doesn't mean they're free from people's judgement and consequences.
Just for the record, hate speech is not protected under free speech. As a matter of fact, "free speech" doesn't even exist on a private venue such as an online forum, because it's about the government restricting your speech. And no country on Earth has 100% free speech.

Or... In a game about killing people and trying to avoid being killed, we can leave sexuality out of it because it doesn't matter.
Leave that "poop" to the fan-fic writers. Let people insert what they want instead.
Given that heterosexual relationships are already in the game, why do non-heterosexual relationships have to be excluded?
-
Most of the community wanted DC bans, which exist in every other online multiplayer video game. So when you say they "don't listen", you mean they don't do what you want.
With that out of the way, I hope that implementing something to detect whether Valve's servers went down is easy, because Steam has been quite unstable lately.

Don't.
This. I'm serious. Unless you're playing with crossplay off, PC survivors will obliterate you.

i know anti-witch hunting and yadayada but if that's the case and they've already been taken care of by the mods what is the problem? there's a lot of smoke but no fire. if you're after the people with homophobic undertones do you really think millions of garbage, nonsense threads like this gets the message across that they're not welcome here? or do you think baiting them into being openly homophobic (to the point where the mods could deal with it guilt-free) would be a better strategy?
like this blunt strategy of "ACCEPT US" is so dumb

Nothing. This thread is obviously not directed at you.

I am purely speculating, but does "The Trickster" translate into something in Korean that has a different meaning or cultural implication than what it means to English speakers? I have a hunch, based on the lore, that "Trickster" refers to something in Korean that we do not understand.
That's a fair point. I have a Korean friend, I'll try asking her.
EDIT: Never mind, she's offline.

Agreed, OP.

There are literally no homosexuals to be homophobic against in this chapter. Nothing suggests, by nuance or by explicitness, that the killer is gay in any sense. If anything, it would be frankly homophobic to assume that he is, based on his appearance. Homosexuals can be James Charles with purple hair or daddy deathslinger.
That being said, if there was a character who turns out to be gay, I'm sure that the homophobia is going to be rampant in this little edgelord community of reactionaries we have here. We're yet to see that, however.
If anything, it would be frankly homophobic to assume that he is, based on his appearance.
That's what the OP is referring to, yes. As you can see, someone doesn't actually need to be homosexual in order for someone else to be homophobic toward them. Homophobia is not rational.

I don't see why we needed a whole new UI for his effects. We had similar effects with Pyramid Head's power and it didn't cause any problems with the old one.
To be clear, I meant that the killer's UI was made knowing that, by now, the new (overall) UI would have been implemented. I'll reword my comment so it's better.

Or, more likely, they developed the killer's UI knowing that the overall UI was going to be redesigned (and what it'd look like).

I'm gay and donated blood in high school. They didn't even ask my sexuality. Is that only for adults?
They always asked my boyfriend's orientation, among other bits of personal information, it was in a form he had to fill out. I haven't donated blood yet (I hate getting blood drawn and now is not really the best time to go to the hospital), but I would have to fill out a form just like he did. Note that this varies from country to country, naturally. In the case of the USA, I'm guessing it even varies from state to state.

I don't get the fuss. Mainly because no other characters have a confirmed Sexuality with the exception of maybe some dlc killers but they can be put up for question as well. What I'm saying is that the player decides, you want a gay Dwight or pansexual David then you can. Maybe they're just straight. A character doesn't always need a confirmed Sexuality because that's for the player to decided. Is the Trickster gay? I don't know, maybe he is, isn't or he's just a really flamboyant man with a taste for theatrics

Wrong. Several characters are confirmed heterosexual.

I beg to differ. Everything from race to gender, to sexual preference has become political in modern society.
What you describe is, indeed, how it should be, but the reality is that the majority of LGBT activists are busy taking that personal thing and shoving it down everyone else's throats, and, unfortunately, the rest of us end up getting lumped in with them.
No, people existing is not political, no matter how much certain groups want to make it seem that way. As for the activists, were it not for them, I would not be able to hold hands with my BF in the street. I wouldn't be able to marry him (eventually, I hope). However, we still can't donate blood, among other things.

But some apparently need that satisfaction of "representation" like we gays are going to expire without it.
"Need" is a strong word. "Want, because heterosexuality is already in the game and everyone should get equal treatment" is more accurate.

Sex is a huge horror trope, yes! Sexuality, however is not. Sexuality is political now, and that pretty much all but completely seperates it from the beautiful, touching, interpersonal spark that it used to be.
Sexuality is not political. Human beings existing and having certain characteristics is not political.

It depends which complaints you're looking at. I find a lot of posts are complaining that this is being shoved so hardcore compared to ANY other demographic not being represented yet in DBD -- dozens upon dozens of new posts, seemingly without end, many of which seem to be trying to stir up drama because the posts BEGIN with "stop being homophobic" which is just someone making yet ANOTHER new post STARTING the topic rather than stopping it.
I'm complaining that the forums were overtaken by countless threads pre-complaining about a character that didn't exist yet, wasn't confirmed, and that we had NO information about -- and yet tons of people were already writing novels about how the character is "being done wrong". And that's just annoying. It comes across as fighting for the sake of fighting. There isn't anything constructive about complaining about an LGBT character being written wrong when the character doesn't exist yet. It's just using the forums as a soapbox to rant about something that has nothing to do with anything actually in the game yet. And it turned out to be exactly that since it sounds like the new characters don't have anything lgbt in their backstories anyway.
It really doesn't depend on the complaints I'm looking at, though. Show me one person who said that sexuality has no place in horror (a hilarious misconception given that the slasher genre is steeped in sexuality and has been since its inception) who also complained about all those characters' lore as much as they're complaining about hypothetical LGBT characters.
If sexuality has no place in DbD, then that includes heterosexuality, but people only complain about non-heterosexuality. And you wonder why some might think the complaints are fueled by homophobia?
Yes, hearing about the same subject many times can get annoying. However, most of the threads were like this one, asking why people wanted it or why it mattered or whatever, if not downright homophobic (using throwaway accounts, naturally, because those people can't even own up to what they believe unless they don't have to face any consequences).

Great point. I don't exactly know why either, but I don't think its that they're homophobic IMO
Some definitely are, trust me. However, their comments get removed (for obvious reasons), which makes the complaints/accusations of homophobia seem out of place and exaggerated.
It's the same everywhere: the comments get removed, and then other people (whether well intentioned or not) say that everyone is making a big deal out of nothing.

I agree with that last statement, as the devs once said, "there is no time for love in the entity's realm."
Exactly. So why certain people are rallying against this, I have no idea. It's gonna be tucked away in the lore, which most people (at least on the forum) don't read to begin with.

People will ignore every aspect of that character and just focus on their sexuality, even if they have a good backstory.
Look at the existing male characters for example, do any of the LGBTQ people ever go "Wow, such a good backstory!". No, they go "Omg, I want to see Felix shirtless". "Is Dwight a top or bottom?"
It has nothing to do with representation, people just want a character to sexualise.
Look at the existing male characters for example, do any of the LGBTQ people ever go "Wow, such a good backstory!".
Yes. Me, for instance. Also, the sexualization is done as a joke by both LGBT and non-LGBT people.

Sorry, I didn't elaborate enough. What I meant is that sexuality is not of any importance to the game whatsoever. TBH, not a lot of people even care enough to remember that any of these people were in relationships, including me.
If it's of no importance and heterosexuality was no big deal, then non-heterosexuality shouldn't be either. It's that simple.

Nah. First of all, it was a screenshot of their announcement and it was shared across all of their social media, not just Twitter. I didn't say they threw a party, but it wasn't something a dev mentioned in passing. They were also promoting LGBT streamers. No need to downplay it.
What social media did they share it on, besides Twitter? I didn't even know they had anything besides Twitter.

To me it looks as if they tried really hard to design him as stereotypically gay as possible. Nothing wrong with that, I don´t understand why you get so worked up over a character they obviously designed to be viewed as gay being seen as gay lol
I literally just questioned the logic behind implying that straight people can't be flashy or walk in a certain way. Seems to me like you're the one getting worked up, but... [shrug]

Bhvr made that big announcement back in June. It's almost a year later and there's still no LGBT character. I'd have preferred if they just didn't make an announcement at all if the character wasn't going to come out in the next chapter or so. IMO it kind of confirms that they mainly made that announcement to capitalize on pride month.
As a gay man I'm disappointed in Bhvr.
It wasn't a "big announcement", it was one tweet. The fanfare came from the forumgoers, not BHVR.

Thats the thing, the backstories never portrait sexuality and I don't think adding it would benefit anyone or raise any type of awareness as players expect fiction and will see it as fiction. For all we know all characters are LGBTQ+, why? Because it is never stated otherwise.
I don't mind if they take that route, I just think that it achieves little and there are better ways to represent people.

That's where you're wrong. Since the Nurse, multiple characters have had heterosexual relationships mentioned in their lore.

I'm against toxicity, but I also think people who are toxic should be matched with each other and isolated from the normal population. Since that's an impossibility (I doubt an algorithm can recognize toxicity when we ourselves can barely define it), we're stuck dealing with them. Fortunately, if they do something rule-breaking (which they almost always do), we can report them.

Whataboutism isn't even about maining specific side, it's rather about selfish people who are trying to justify something broken, because something else is broken. They don't realize it makes things more complicated and thus never come to conclusion. But expecting from this community to have logical reasoning and actually come up with a solution is a very ambitious goal.
Maybe there's an alternate universe, where WE as a community can unite and discuss one problem at a time.
There's also the fact that some things are connected, and recognizing that is not "whataboutism".

"Boring" is a matter of opinion. I find running in circles to be boring, you find stealth boring. We have different playstyles.
Spine Chill is very basic as far as stealth perks go. You know the killer is coming, so you slink away in the opposite direction. Simple and easy.
One of my stealth builds (I have a few) allows me to repair a gen as the killer is approaching and be far away by the time they're done checking the area.

Could run it. My opinion is you're putting yourself in a disadvantage to run a perk for totems except Inner Strength.
How so, if you're preventing NOED?
Perks are always a risk assessment thing. Use NOED and you're putting yourself at a disadvantage before the gates are powered. Even if it activates there's no guarantee you'll get any use out of it, and the fact that you're limited to three perks for most of the trial could actually be why the gates were powered in the first place. However, if your early game is already weak, then NOED could be the boost you need at the end.
If you take Small Game you're gonna have to take out something else, but then you also get to prevent/destroy every hex perk there is, which you might not be able to do otherwise. Is it worth it? That's up to you to decide.

People like to point out Logical Fallaies like they're so smart and like it means anything. it doesn't. When it comes to making an argument what matters are your arguments.
Logical fallacies are a part of the argument, though. It's not impossible to arrive at a correct conclusion based on faulty premises (I'm sure everyone's seen two mistakes that cancelled themselves out in math, for example), but the presence of fallacies does make the argument suspect.

You shouldn't use it as a sort of "landing zone indicator". Observe how it moves, understand the blinks. That's the way to play Nurse, you have to understand her.

I tried Plaid Flannel but honestly it seemed to make it worse.
Tried it how?
-
My advice, if you're having trouble:
Plaid Flannel to understand how the blink "travels", and then never use add-ons that change the blink's charging speed. Travel speed is fine, as well as the ones that increase the second blink's window. Also, mind your aim. The Nurse was reworked a while back so the spot where you aim is instrumental in determining the distance. You can figure all this out with Plaid Flannel, though.
For me, it was just a matter of playing her, a lot. However, that was back when she came out. I haven't touched her in quite a while. The Plaid Flannel should help you figure her out.

I think Friday the 13th died for a reason. Let it stay dead.

So, to be clear, you play against killers who are bad and use NOED, but you also can't find an opportunity cleanse totems (even though they are bad), and you want to make sure only the most powerful killers have access to NOED, even though you already can't cleanse totems against the bad ones?

Oh really? Crouching around the map and actually being SCARED of the killer is skillful? Sitting on gens for minutes at a time is skillful? Id like you to explain how.
I said stealth, you're describing a useless teammate so you could ask a loaded question.
Stealth is about doing all the things you need to do (working on gens, cleansing totems, opening gates, unhooking, healing, and so on) without being seen by the killer. You should try it some time. I wrote a guide on the subject that placed third in a contest, check it out.

Half the people here have demanded an openly gay character. People have even claimed they don’t feel like they can identify with video game characters without it.
let me say again, since we as players don’t know who the character is, they are a wild card to us. Therefore the lore is open to interpretation. If the devs want to actually define the relationships they will reveal which character is the unknown to the players.
People have even claimed they don’t feel like they can identify with video game characters without it.
Source? I've seen the claim that this claim is real, but that's it.

Point out where I said they should exclude them. I’ll wait.
You always make that same argument in every thread. “If you have any reservations about how the character is created (not if they should be but how) then you are actively excluding them”
So what is your point? This thread is directed at people who want to exclude explicitly LGBT characters, it says so right in the title.
My argument is that you want to control the way the devs implement characters. The devs say the relationships are heterosexual, but you want to ignore their ideas and claim that there's no way to know. We're not writing fan fiction here, we're talking about canon. And canonically, only heterosexual relationships have been explicitly written about.
